come storms or sun * prologue
i feel like i’m on a roll! but honestly i’ve had this written out for a long time now and finally got around to really write it out. now this story, even though adh has been retcon, is like the second part to lucky’s story. post-college, i wanted to look more into how her accident effected her, keeping up with her friends, her relationship with clyde, just all that good stuff.
i don’t think this will be as long as adh was, but who knows?? i always surprise myself. also i’m going by what’s on the sp timeline, sooo if anything much has changed, just gimme a heads up!
She remembers that only hours ago, there had been sun. Blue skies stretching far, for miles and miles. But as time passed, rolling white clouds became grey, the blue sky took a green hue, and the air heavy.
It wasn’t the biggest tornado they’ve seen so far this season, but still enough to maybe place itself on the scale of an F3. It bent and twisted angrily through the country side just out of Denver. They had set off.
She remembers the way the truck shook as the tornado took a turn none of them could have seen coming. The team shouting over their shared radio frequency, she remembers her partner gripping onto her arm as the truck suddenly lifted from the road. She remembers praying, crying, screaming.
Metal and earth collide. Glass shatters and the wind keeps howling mercilessly. That’s the last she remembers, as it all goes dark.
*
Eudora Day is extremely careful as she lays by Lucky’s side. Her small hand clenching the pale white hospital gown Lucky wore. From beside the bed, Gemma watches her daughters carefully. Her eyes puffy and red from hours of crying. It had only been three days since they found out about the accident, and it has been two days since Lucky woke up.
“Careful, Dora.” Gemma warns gently. “Sassy is still hurtin’”
Dora peeks up tearfully to her older sister. Lucky’s eyes watch her, a small and weak smile on her lips. “Shh. I’m okay now, Dory.” She whispers. Dora hiccups, crying again as she hid her face against Lucky’s arm.
Lucky closes her eyes, breathing slowly. Her ribs still hurt, thankfully none broken. “Momma, where’s Daddy and Verg?” She asks in a hoarse voice. Gemma leans down, brushing away the curls that stuck to her cheeks.
“Out getting’ lunch.” Gemma replies. “You were complain’ all yesterday about hospital food. Your daddy figured you’re ready for some real food if ya can whine that much.” She says with a watery laugh, tears slipping from her eyes. Lucky chuckles and winces. “Chicken soup.” Gemma adds.
“Oh, good.” Lucky sighs. “Momma…I-I have to call…” She starts, her voice trailing off.
Gemma shakes her head. “I already did. Your girls are on their way, Vivi should be here in an hour or so.”
Lucky can feel Dora’s tears against her skin, she moves her good arm to hold her hand. “I’m okay, Dory. I promise.”
Outside, there’s dark clouds and thunder rumbles lowly in the distance. Lucky never thought in all her life, that she would feel dread at the very sound that once sent inspiration and curiosity through her. She turns her head away from the window, closing her eyes.
“I promise.”

HOT NEW RELEASE
Keeping You Away by @kennedyfoxbooks is now LIVE on all retailers! A slow burn, angsty second chance romance with lots of small-town, Southern drama This is book 1 in the Tyler & Gemma duet and must be read first.
#1Click here► http://bit.ly/2Tu8vpU
I never planned on returning to Alabama, but circumstances brought me here after years of being gone. Though Lawton Ridge is my hometown, I was hesitant to go back because of her —my sister’s best friend. The last time we were together, she was eighteen, and I was a broken soldier transitioning to civilian life.
Gemma wrote to me while I was overseas and we developed a bond I hadn’t anticipated. I crushed her heart the day I left, something I’ve never forgotten. But now that her dad is my new boss, life just got way more complicated.
Too sweet, too innocent, too good for a guy like me—I should walk away again.
After serving five years in prison for something I didn’t do, I trust no one, but Gemma gradually breaks down my walls and exposes the pain I’ve hidden underneath. For her own sake, I should keep my distance, but it’s nearly impossible when I hear her sweet humming while I work and she slowly draws me back in. It’s a battle I didn’t train for, and one I’ll lose if I don’t keep my restraint—especially since she’s engaged to another man.
Pre-Order Book 2: Need You Close releasing on August 13th here: http://kennedyfoxbooks.com/tylerandgemmaduet

Though I’ve taught people how to protect themselves in a boxing ring, no one can help prepare me for my next move. I’m about to enter the fight of my life and face the mafia princess who put me behind bars. She thinks I fear her and will stay away, but she has another thing coming. I plan to make her pay, but that means risking everything.

day family change
okay, here it is. the overhaul change for lucky and her family.
Okay, so it may not be too big. But it is big to me. Basically, I am doing away with Jason and Liane. They never date, they never marry. They meet but never become romantically involved with one another. I know this was a big part of Lucky’s backstory, but I’ve felt that it relied too much on it. Lucky is uprooted from her hometown and then gets stuck with a family she never asked for, and while, yeah, I enjoy the drama of it all (and let’s be real, when I made her story eons ago, I thought it was damn clever and would get me tons of hits) but now, it just feels tiring to me. Cause I feel like Lucky, Vergil, and Jason don’t get to grow much beyond that, or at least the way I want them to.
Lucky having Eric as her step-brother is no more. The immense animosity and clashing is still very much there, though. As now, they’re neighbors who have a great and sore dislike for one another.
I’m gonna give a quick break down of what’s changed, what hasn’t, and who Jason now ends up with, cause Shannyn and I fell in love with this new parent OC while developing her. The story with Terri remains the same, but only now instead of remarrying Liane, Jason meets an old friend from high school named Gemma Lawton. Gemma and Jason had been close from freshman to junior year, until Terri came into the picture. Fast-forward through the years, and Jason is at the doctors with a few months old Vergil and there’s Gemma, getting her own checkup. Gemma instantly recognizes her old friend and former crush (that she’s never really gotten over) and comes up saying. “Well look at you, handsome. Your daddy ain’t half bad lookin’ either.”
Jason and Gemma begin talking again, picking up like they never dropped off. Lucky loves Gemma right off the bat, and Gemma instantly loves both Lucky and Vergil like they’re her own. Jason and Gemma marry when Lucky is seven, and move to South Park when Oliver helps them to find a place there to open a combined repair and mechanic shop, with Jason working on repairs and Gemma on mechanic work.
Lucky and Vergil have that loving and support from a mother figure who truly cares for them and Gemma would go up and beyond for them both.
They’re just a happy, loving, and supportive family, and that’s what my babies deserve.
#lucky day#gemma lawton-day#also pls don't ask me about adh there's two things i can do and i'm struggling with both#but!! this is new and official canon
