i recently had the pleasure of visiting the Gelman Stained Glass Museum in San Juan, Texas, and it was jaw dropping!!

i've hardly ever seen any stained glass in real life and this was absolutely stunning... of course, i went with my dad, and he was the one who made sure i never ever went to church as a kid, so i admit a lot of the imagery was sort of lost on us and we spent a lot of time guessing and riffing about the subjects. but the craftsmanship was unbelievable and i was floored even without much context.

i can attest you don't need to have or want anything to do with any church to appreciate this place. and in such an unassuming, out-of-the-way little town, too! if by some fluke you're ever anywhere in the area, this museum is a must-see!!
