Any of y'all play/watch The Outer Worlds? I'd really love your opinion.
Here's the thing, I just cannot stand Vicar Max. He's so sanctimonious I just want to punch him. So I don't feel particularly compelled to take him as a companion.
But! I was talking with a friend of my brother's about the game and he said that Max's story arc is really interesting and well done.
So has any of y'all played/watched his storyline? What are your thoughts?

(Spoilers for Panam ending for Cyberpunk 2077)
Someone I follow has recently started pics of their playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. And it’s been an interesting experience for me because, honestly, I don’t remember many details of the game anymore. I remember very fuzzy generalities.
I remember that the Keanu Reeves character was insufferable. I remember that the open city setting destroyed would could have been a great story. I remember the many many glitches.
But you want to know the one thing I remember well? The ending that I got.
I remember being disappointed that I couldn’t date Panam, cause she was by far the most interesting character to me. But then the ending came and I was so glad I didn’t.
Because it’s full of so much platonic love between Panam and V. Panam and V choosing each other time after time after time in the story leads up to this. V, having a limited amount of life yet, deciding that she wants to spend it with Panam and her family. A family that loves V just as Panam does.
Panam and V sitting on top of their floating vehicle, as it drives away from Night City, toward a vast starlit sky is an image that has stuck with me despite everything else fading away. It’s soft and sweet and peaceful. It was one of the most affecting endings I’ve had in any game. I loved it and I think that if I remember nothing else in 10 years from this game, I’ll remember that.

Every once in a while I'll be reminded of Cyberpunk 2077 and I'll think about the game it could have been and it makes me legitimately sad that it got forced into something monsterous when it could have been so legimately beautiful.

So, I finished Cyberpunk 2077. And I’ve been trying for while to do a write up of it but, no matter what I did, it ended up being a bit more spoilery than I’d prefer. There’s just one element I have to touch on in basically everything I talk about and, inevitably, you learn more about that element than I’d normally prefer in something meant to be non-spoilery. So, if you want that, let me know, I have a huge chunk of it already written up. However, what I do have for the moment is:
A QUICK AND DIRTY BREAKDOWN OF WHY I FINISHED CYBERPUNK 2077 WHEN I NEVER FUCKING FINISH GAMES
I finished it because I really wanted to see where the story was going and I really loved the main character, V. (The ending I got, btw, was beautiful and perfect and I loved it.)
I finished it because when I restart playing a game, there’s usually so much time between when I stopped and when I start again, that I feel the need to start from the beginning. And there was one major character that I fucking hated so damn much that the idea of having to sit through any conversation with him more than once was so repulsive that I knew if I didn’t finish this game now I knew I never would.
WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS GAME TO PEOPLE?
Quite honestly, I don’t think I can recommend this game, even though I really want to. Because I think what I’d be recommending wouldn’t be the story and character arc we got, but rather the idea behind what we actually got. The fact of the matter is, the story and character arcs they wrote can’t be told effectively in an open world. By deciding to continue with the open world aspect, there are (important) aspects of their story that they doomed to failure. And I’m truly sad about that because the premise of their story? Brilliant. I can’t begin to tell you how much I wanted that story and how disappointed I was when I realized there was no way I’d be getting it.
What I do have is one huge recommendation for if you play it: BE A FEMALE V. I cannot stress enough how much better the game is as a female V. Not just because the voice actress is top notch (though fuck knows she is) but because, in my opinion, one of the best moments in the game changes drastically if you’re a male V and have made a specific choice. So don’t take that chance and just play as a female V. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Okay, but several things worth noting about Bethesda's announcement for its new game, Starfield:
1) It won't be coming to the Playstation. I am le shocked. I never saw this coming. (For those not aware, Microsoft now owns Bethesda.)
2) Bethany gave an exact release date for the game: 11 Nov. 2022. Over a year way. This is both the bravest and the most foolish thing I've seen so far during E3.
3) For anyone interested in the game, who hasn't played a Bethesda game, coming from someone who has played multiple Bethesda games: wait to play it. Bethesda is notorious for having buggy as fuck games and it's best to wait til they and dedicated modders fix these issues.

So about a week ago I downloaded a Totally Legal copy of Cyberpunk 2077.
For those not aware, Cyberpunk 2077 is basically infamous for what a hot fucking mess it was when it came out, with just a host of game breaking bugs. The console versions were so bad that Sony literally pulled the game from its store and refused to sell it until it, y'know, worked.
My Totally Legal Version has up to patch v1.1 which came out 28 Jan. Since then there have been two hotfixes (the latest of which was 5 Feb.)
I'm sure y'all have a good guess as to why I'm giving you a history lesson
BECAUSE THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING BROKEN STILL.
I cannot imagine what it must have been like when it first came out if it's still this broken after multiple patches and hotfixes. Here's some of my experiences:
A ton, just so fucking many, items that I can't pick up despite them obviously being items I should be able to.
Things I walk near (and don't even touch) like to randomly break. Like, all the time. The most noticeable being glass which never ceases to make me jump.
A person I was supposed to subdue just... fell through the floor. There was no way to complete the mission so I had to reload with a save.
A door that's supposed to open with a keycard but won't which has behind it a legendary weapon blueprint. The only way to get it is to make sure an NPC that has the card on them goes near the door (it works for them but ceases to work at all when you take it) and then just dash in and out, all while getting shot at (hope your armor holds up). Just... what the fuck?
This is technically not a bug but is bug-related: they have disabled console commands (aka cheats) which is an asshole move when your game is this fucking buggy because if they had been available I could have just: respawned the person who fell through the floor and cheated open the door.
Okay, this one was done on purpose but I'm still putting it here because they absolutely should have fucking changed this: they allow key mapping for every single key except F. Which is definitely a key you'll need to remap seeing as how that's the "do shit" key. I had to find a tutorial online to do it via a configuration file which is just fucking maddening. WHY??!?!?
Anyway, the moral of this story is this game is broken as fuck and definitely not worth $60. Totally Legally download it if you absolutely must play it but otherwise I guess wait for even longer for them to get their shit together to fix their crap.

Sometimes I just can't with Cyberpunk 2077.
Today I found out that I can literally head shot people through walls with a sniper rifle. I assume sometimes but I just realized it so haven't been able to experiment.
Cyberpunk, bullets not going through walls is the bare minimum of what to expect from a game with shooting.
Every time I think the bugginess of this game can't surprise me anymore, something like this happens.

"Not a single thing in this world isn't in the process of becoming something else." -Cyberpunk 2077
The writing in Cyberpunk tends to be all over the place but I really liked this line.

So, I've been giving Cyberpunk 2077 a lot of crap, all of it well-deserved, but there is one small thing that continues to delight me, even having played for several hours at this point:
My characters' hands. Which are a tiny part of character creation but it exists.
That sounds stupid but I didn't realize how much a simple thing like that could add to the feel of a game. In a first-person game, all you see is yours characters hands. And, in most games, the best you can do is change gloves and, though I haven't seen it I assume it must exist, the ability to put rings on.
So you can spend forever in character creation but in first-person you never see it.
And the customization is a pretty silly thing too. Something I think very few creators would think of. But it's fingernails. That's it. I just added long fingernails and a shiny pretty nail polish and suddenly every single time I see my character's hands I get happy because those are my hands, I picked those details out, that's my character I designed.
And once you think about it there's so many options you could have. Fingernail length and polish, scars, tattoos, if other earrings why not also rings?
I would fucking love to see this become common among first person games because it's such a small thing but I think it adds so much.

So.... My character just died from jumping off a 2 foot high rock. Like, full health to insta-death.
3 guesses as to what game I'm playing and the first 2 don't count.
(They actually just released a new patch and the amount of game breaking bugs they fixed in it is as equally horrifying as it is funny.)
