Hey Tumblr!!! Do you remember that post from 2015 about having your braces on during the apocalypse??? Well I and Gian Gibboney wrote a musical inspired by that!
“Brace Yourself: A Musical Apocalypse” follows Holly’s quest to get her braces off the day the apocalypse hits! But… will she succeed before her denial and grief gets the better of her?
In this pre-apocalypse song “Like You” Holly is telling her best friend Paul about the boy she dreams of having her first kiss with… not realizing that he may be closer than he appears!
This musical was developed at NYU Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program from may 2023-may 2024 as a master’s thesis project!
Filmed at Joe’s Pub for NYU Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Showcase for Cycle 33!
Performances by
Kimberly Chatterjee as Holly
Olivia G. Billings as Paul

hey idk if you like to hear from people who use your themes but i'm using your bubbles theme and it's awesome
Hi!
Omg I LOVE hearing from people who use my themes, thank you so much! What a great message to wake up to!
I hope it’s ok to publish this but since I started coding more again, I thought about making a thing where I link to some people using my themes who’ve done really cool things with it (colour/picture wise or actually changing the code a bit) and picking a fave or something :)Would you guys be interested in something like that? :)

how widely does your follower count fluctuate? do you found it's on a steady climb, or is it simply unpredictable? have you noticed that you gain/lose a lot of followers when you post about specific issues? just curious. love your blog
Mainly it’s a steady rise, (though it’ll usually jump a lot if I’m covering a big news story) but it always dips down a bit when I talk about cultural appropriation. I had a net loss of about 150 when I was first talking in support of the BLM interruption at the Sanders rally, but I’ve already made the number back and many more. Basically, not everyone likes it when I talk about white privilege, but it’s not a problem for me and it doesn’t stop me from talking about it.

hey i'm sure you already know this but i want to share it anyway: the reason the greeks described the sea as "wine-dark" was because they didn't have a word for blue. i think it was the egyptians who first came up with a word for the color blue, because they were the first ones to figure out how to produce it through paints and dyes. in a way, the greeks couldn't even see the color blue. radiolab did a whole story on it in the episode "color," you should tell your followers to check it out!
Hey! I did actually know that this was why, but I agree that it would have made it more interesting if I’d included that in the post! I think the reason I discovered it was because my Greek teacher watched the episode you mention, or at least something like it, so yeah, it’s definitely something interesting to look into, thank you for reminding me :)
I love discovering words for colour in other languages. Most Ancient Greek colour words I know defined colour by what we would call shade/intensity, so dark blue and dark green of the same intensity would be the same colour. In the episode my Greek teacher watched, if it’s the same one, I think they studied the colour words of some remote tribes and it’s really fascinating to see what people come up with when things aren’t standardised.

geekerypokery answered your ask “pardon me but I happened to see your tag on that post about old anime...”
HELL YES Inuyasha was my first anime and was what truly set me on the path to becoming the giant fucking nerd I am today
I alternately fell in love with basically every character but my two true loves who will never leave me were sesshoumaru and miroku
though I was a dumb like 14 year old who wanted sesshy to myself, but I totally shipper miroku and sango so I left miroku alone a little more I didn't want to feel like I was stealing him from sango

how does the jaw hinge work/what did you use to make it? ;0;
The mask jaw is attached to my jaw, and the rest of the mask is attached to my head. The pivot point/hinge of the mask is roughly concentric with the pivot point of my jaw, so when I open my mouth it opens the mask mouth as if it were on my own face. (Does that make sense???)
Anyway it’s not quite the same (I made modifications as I went along, in particular by using stiffer materials: foamcore instead of craft foam sheets) but I started with this tutorial and it’s the same basic idea.
The materials in my mask’s jaw are just foam core and hot glue and elastic, plus fabric to cover it (even the teeth are foamcore lol). I made a rigid chin rest that straps to my head with elastic, and glued it to the lower jaw framework/skeleton which you can see in this post.

yeah a couple friends know and like i think a couple might assume but idk and like idk with them i was fine coming out with most of them and it felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders but then i have my best friend since second grade who doesn't believe in bisexuality so of course he isn't gonna think pansexuality is a thing and???? also someone who i can't stand who i really didn't want to know, knows and I've recently figured out that a bunch of my friends use the f-slur and that really puts me off and idk it's kinda uncomfortable now and like idk a couple of them don't seem put off with all this but they don't seem 100% okay with it either and like i know you asked about friends but i've also tried coming out to my mom about two or three times and she either forgot, brushed it off, or went on this long bigoted speech that she thinks she has the right to say bc she has a couple gay friends and just idk im scared to tell a lot of people i know bc i don't want them to think differently of me and i don't like the nerves i get when the topic is brought up,,,,,,,,
