Rw art month day 24: GDLL

I know it's late but it's probably the only prompt im doing outside of days 1 & 2 but this one exited me

Day 20 & 21 (27 & 28 Jan 2024）

Note: - Heard about the massive train crowd and grab crowd before the coldplay concert - Decided to drive there early as hell and position the car in the most ideal position - From past experience, parking nearer to the exit is the best cause when the concert ends there will always be a long queue out of the carpark - Concert starts at 8.30pm, went there at 4.30pm!!! - When I reached there were plenty of space, i took my own sweet time, drove 1 round around the whole carpark to scout for the best parking position - Ended up parking at the nearest lot possible to the exit! (Note the "way out" is just right in front - I nua-ed on the car and left the car closer to 5+, thinking i outsmarted the system

- In the end when we were all about to leave, this exit wasn't open and only the exit to the right was open...lucky the next exit was damn near so managed to leave the carpark within 5 minutes, but gan... Extra Note: - Went to a coldplay concert with a young Gen Z, jinjja if not for the Gen Z we wouldn't have filmed the transition coldplay video and know which part of the song to film for all the effects, jinjja GDLL - If not 我们一群老人 would have just sat there and sing along lOl, 有年轻人真的有差 Note: - Went to ECP for a run - The view and the sea really GDLL everytime I see it! - Running is also so much easier when there's strong wind and people and things to look at - I aim to have a weekly ECP run at least once a week cause the other days are gym sessions!! - Really look forward to the weekly ECP run, hope I get to go once a week!!!

Reflection 27/11/23

School

Ended my last 2 papers today, it's been a long and tiring 14 weeks of school. I remember feeling quite excited at the start of sem then half way through the sem i felt like the pace of school was alittle too slow and now that it has finally ended.

There were many up and down moments through this sem but nonetheless i give thanks because i know that God has been with me through it all. He blessed me with friends who were there to support me and who always kept me in prayer. (Received a prayer text before my second paper, i GDLL fr. 🥹)

Mission: Cambodia

This is my second STM and first to a further country. We are all new to each other in this team. Met the team today to plan and finalised the details.

While travelling home, i felt very fearful. Firstly, idk how well i'll be able to adapt to the team through the whole 6 days. Secondly, I'll be sharing testimony in the Christmas party that we will be hosting. Will be sharing the biggest and heaviest part of my life, never thought that i would be sharing this as a testimony but now i am. Lastly, i am unsure how everything will turn out despite us having a concrete plan.

After all the planning, we've concluded that this STM trip is one that would require all of us to be faithful and be in tune with what the spirit wants to do. In Siam Reap, there is nothing planned and it's a new city that we will be heading to. This would require us to be ever more sensitive to what the spirit wants to do through us to the city.

Prayer

God, i need you. Give me the courage to speak, not my story but yours. God, i pray that as i speak of what you've done in my life, may you use this to touch and speak to many hearts. God, help me and the team to be ever more sensitive to what you wanna speak to the Cambodians. Remind me that my role is to plant and water, remind me to trust everything into your hands and not mine. Amen.

i kno that this is just how all of my family operates but me growing up learning to do things not because i Could or because i wanted to but because one of my parents would make it worse if i didnt push myself past my limitations constantly and would like. make my life hell is kind of fucked up actually

i literally dont want to be in college anymore like i want to be an anthropologist or a writer or Something but the insane amount of stress my mom puts on me about it scares the fuck out of me and i really cannot deal with it. unfortunately i’m too disabled to do like. labor heavy work so i can’t…..stop….going either

Yes, promised to have more updates. If you can't see, I'm trying my very best here. So my clinical started and yes neurosurgical is pretty tough I must say. Very very tired from clinical. 

So I am already half way through my attachment like wow?! So week 1 was practically just trying my very best to break all sort of ice with the SNs, SSNs and CAs. Trying to show some proactiveness, initiatives and potential so to get gain some confidence level they have in me. So usually clinical we will have Clinical Instructors (CIs) who are supposed to be the ones guiding, helping and teaching us while we are on the job. Also, they are usually ward based meaning they are from the same ward we are posted to. However, this time round our CI was not from our ward like she was from the education department and she is new. LOL. Totally disastrous. Not saying she is bad, its just inexperience but okay give chance because we are student nurses as well and patients are giving us chances as well. 

Anyway, she was late for our first day of attachment? LOL she said she got something to attend to and what's more important than your students? LOL you are a CI and you are work 8-5 office hours and you only have one job which is to take care of us and you aint even in the ward. Great first impression. Anw did a lot of junior work in the first week and got to know a lot of the SNs and SSNs. & good news they are all super nice and friendly. GDLL taking time to teach us the actual ground work in the ward and explain to me in details. Maybe they saw how my CI is like LMAO and also understand how tough nursing students life can be in a ward. There are a lot of junior SNs (3-4years working experiences) in the ward and they are so so so nice. 

Anw we had to take case from week 2 onwards and this was actually stressing the shit out of me. LOL taking case means you are in charge of the patient from taking over the patient from previous shift, to handling the patient matter, to medication, to charting, to writing progress notes and to handing over to the next shift. LOL and tbh I was not very prepared. & honestly everyone case was so complicated to me HAHAHA fuck this is what happened when you didnt study hard and also forgetting everything you had studied before. Anw got help from the nicer SNs to learn how to write notes, do handing over and reading the medication system. So took the same case from Wednesday till Friday and my SSN asked me third day taking same case and you still don't know why this patient on this drug HAHAH I just gave a sheepish smile :) Anw I think I would give myself 50/100 for doing just a decent job. Got to be harder on myself in order to grow and learn more. 

Anw so during week 2, our ward got another CI and lets name her LIHO cuz their tea suck. She is full of herself, always talking in a faking condescending manner and always poking her nose in to every matter in the ward. Anw cuz my own CI is new and LIHO is more senior so LIHO will put my CI down in front of students and other nurses. LIKE DAFUQ? LIHO will be damn dramatic whenever she finds something that is not align with like teaching guideline/ textbook answer. Then she will take photo and report. LOL isn't nurses supposed to help each other? FUCKING JOKES. Anw just to do some justice, textbook knowledge really should just stay in textbook. Not saying that nurses in wards are practising the wrong skills but some things are just not feasible to be carried out in textbook manner. If not one shift 12 hours also not enough for you to do la and your patient most prob die liao la GAN. 

Also, there was still one incident that happened in the ward. So Patient X was known for having constant large amount diarrhoea and that day in the middle of a PT session, his diarrhoea leaked out of his diaper and like onto the floor. PANIC PANIC okay jokes. So my SSN, LIHO and I went to help to clean up etc. Anw Patient X was like confused, on restraint and not being able to take instructions la so its slightly harder to clean up and change. Throughout the whole incident, she was just putting me down. “Student, are you sure your gloves is clean? Student, you don't touch the curtain with your dirty gloves. Student, how about you just go get the bathing trolley for me?” Honestly I really just wanted to get out and let her do it on her own since she is so good but nvm since my SSN was inside and I feel bad enough for her already. & halfway changing, she actually said to my SSN: “Should have asked the male CA to come help!” SO WHAT AM I TO YOU? FUCKING BITCH THAT JUST COMPLETELY DISREGARD MY PRESENCE AND EFFORT. So I fuck you not bitch. 

LOL anw got a lot of readings to read up and understand so I can survive my next two weeks! Hopefully I will find more motivation! Meanwhile, stay safe friends.

Note: - Visited Gonggong at the elderly care this morning, still looks healthy on the exterior but the dementia brain is still doing its magic - Remember what he wants to/can, memory keeps jumping - Every visit just reminds me 人活到一个年纪就好, quality of life when you are old is really so low. 自己活不好，家人也会被影响. - That‘s why must 活在当下, 有能力有时间做自己想做的就去做! I know it's a very privileged way of thinking, but who knows 我下一辈子怎样，活在当下!!! - Family birthday meal at Beng Hiang Restaurant

- Always on my food list but never got to try it till today! - The 五香 and 铁板豆腐 damn good!! All the dishes were slightly above average and good! Not super super amazing but quality is guaranteed! - If there's any future event that requires a banquet style of chinese dinner I will book this place!!! - Bridesmaid Birthday Dinner @ CouCou Hotpot @i12 Katong

^ Taro tart SO SO SO GOOD! They know I like Taro so they bought this to try! The taro was so soft and not too sweet and not too taro-ey, with the crispy tart damn good!! 10/10

Over the birthday meal weekend (Friday - Sunday), 我骗吃骗喝 for all 3 days. I had such good meals and I got them all free, 真的感恩!!! But it didn't stop there, I received birthday gifts also...really 适可而止就好!!! I 收到都愧疚!!!!

^Airpods from H4F! - GDLL they remember i don't like in-ear buds, and my airpods battery sucks, everytime the right side will run out of battery after a while, leaving only the left one working lOl, so a perfect gift at a perfect timing when I need it to last longer for my gym sessions

^ Applewatch from Bridesmaid + Glenn - I was damn shocked to receive this present cause I don't have a habit of wearing watch so Idk what inspired them to get this and it's not cheap either! - I also xiadao cause the moment i saw the apple bag I damn scared the present overlapped and i got another airpods! But it turned out to be an apple watch! - I remember telling them "Gan, you all want trap me in this apple ecosystem is it?". - From my current iphone 14 pro, to the airpods, to the apple watch, 我全身上下最贵的东西都是别人送的!! I personally have not spent my own money on anything more expensive than those items combined on myself before! - This present also damn timely cause I always wanted something to help track my run, and this apple watch can do just that perfectly!!!

I really 打从心底感谢这么多人 help to celebrate my birthday and give me presents. I wish them all healthy and happy for the whole of 2024!!! I know the presents also includes their best wishes for me for my next career endeavor, I can only repay them by figuring out what I want to do and taking action!!
