A couple ways to improve Sims 4 performance (in order of ascending complexity/cost)
When you run your game, close all other applications. The more you're asking your computer to do at once, the slower it'll run. When you're playing the Sims, close your discord, your web browser, music players, and any other applications you're running.
Delete unused files and empty your computer's trash. If your computer's hard drive is full or nearly full, your computer will run more slowly. You should regularly empty the trash on your computer and delete old and unused files. If you need to store a lot of files (especially big files like pictures and video), move them off your computer's hard drive and onto a small, portable drive or cloud storage before deleting them off your computer.
Clean out your computer's fans. Computers generate heat as they run, which is why your computer has built-in fans. They're intended to cool your computer as it runs, but dust accumulates inside over time, decreasing the fan's effectiveness. For around $10, you can buy canned air to blow the dust out of your fans, increasing their cooling capacity.
Invest in a laptop cooling pad. To help keep your laptop from overheating, you can get an external fan system. Laptop cooling pads cost between $15 and $40, and plug into your laptop via a USB port. Extra external fans support your laptop's built-in cooling systems and help keep your laptop from overheating. If I forget to turn on my fans before opening the game, I have a ton of lag even without running Gshade/reshade. When I turn the fans on, my game is running more smoothly within minutes, with significant reductions in lag and fewer dropped frames.
Upgrade your computer's RAM. If you're comfortable taking your laptop apart (it sounds intimidating, but for most PCs it's actually pretty quick and easy! they're designed to be taken apart and put back together), you can easily swap out your computer's default RAM stick for one with a greater capacity. My computer comes with 4 GB of built-in RAM plus 8 GB of removable RAM for a total of 12 GB. For $35 plus 20 minutes of work, I was able to swap out the 8 GB RAM stick for a 16 GB RAM stick, bringing my total to 20 GB. My game runs a lot more smoothly now! To check if this is possible for your device, go into your device settings and check to see if your computer is at its maximum RAM capacity. If not, google "[your exact device model] compatible RAM" and order a compatible RAM stick. If you've never taken a laptop apart before (and hell, even if you have) I'd recommend finding and watching a video tutorial to show you exactly how to take your computer apart and what to look for (google "[your exact device model] RAM upgrade tutorial."

Monsoon, the Encoded Heart, and... Myte, the Heart's Encoder.
Cyberspace travelers, coders, and lovable hug bugs, my artsona duo debuts as character sheet #5! Twice the bios and twice the renders, phew!
Those close to me may know Monsoon as my previous alias. By all means, keep using it ^^
------------------------------
TRANSCRIBED TEXT (The story of an autistic shut-in and their virus... and the journey of colorful artificial learning):
Your resident code monkeys are now online! Meet Monsoon, the introverted programmer with a heart of marshmallow and an eye for hidden gems. Growing up, Monsoon found early comfort teaching themselves on the computer, leveraging online educational resources to make the most of school. During free time, they trained themself in video games and puzzle solving, then found friends on the web to play together. Being autistic made real-life interactions intimidating, but also gave Monsoon a creative streak unlike any other, helping them to develop an irreplicable vision for design and the arts.
12 years later, Monsoon would meet Myte, a sentient computer virus that could physically phase into and out of any coded hardware. Monsoon and Myte, upon meeting, quickly lost each other in a curious exchange of fun facts and warming compliments. Myte now follows Monsoon to learn of the real world and serves as a glowing vessel for Monsoon’s colorful programs and softwares. They dress together for Pride Month, stream indie games online w/ friends, and function akin to a puppet fighter in combat!

Well, since OpenMediaVault totally broke Docker integration and the only Docker container I've been able to get working perfectly is Portainer, I think I'm moving on to just installing stuff directly from the SSH terminal. Worked for Tailscale.
First thing I did this morning is install Jellyfin. Setting up my library was a lot easier than I expected. I thought I was going to have to run a script to reformat the filenames to Jellyfin's strict naming convention, but it found everything and only a handful of them didn't automatically identify. Fixing those glitches is really easy in the web interface too, especially next to how it works on Kodi.
On the other hand, I have a lot more flexibility with subtitles on Kodi. Jellyfin is designed to be set and forget, so if you want subtitles and you don't have subtitles, you have to tell it to automatically get subtitles for everything, and it downloads one subtitle file, hope it works. On Kodi, if I start watching a thing and decide I want subtitles, I can just pull up an in-player menu to select which service to search and pick which of the results I want. Doesn't work? Download another on the fly. At least I can still change the timing offset, I was worried I couldn't.
Then there's the Android TV app. I like the web interface pretty well, but on Android TV, your options are either "pick what you want out of a wall of contextless posters" or a more advanced option that does show some information and arrange them in a line, but only the ones it recommends you pick, not the full library. If you want to browse the whole library, you have to go back to the basic wall. We really like the view options the default Estuary skin in Kodi provides.
Finally, the transcoding by default is both probably not the best option for my poor little XU4 and also makes it a lot harder to seek to different times in the file than when we were just streaming the Samba share. Jellyfin seems to solve some of my problems but it's not really made for my use case, I think.
A side effect of thinking that I had to rename all my files was I attempted to copy my 200+GB library from the byzantine file structure OMV created to /Media. I just now found out that the reason my 32GB sd card boot disk shot up from less than 20% usage to 80% usage was because, of course, /Media is on the boot disk, not on the 3TB hard drive. I only figured this out after I spent like half an hour trying to figure out how to give Jellyfin the permissions it needed to move its metadata to the 3TB drive.
On to Photoprism, I guess. Maybe I won't completely use up my memory. I am pretty concerned about CPU and memory usage with this little thing. I'm sure that in order to get everything I want up and running I'll need a full-power multicore x64 system.

But doesn't Firefox use Chrome?
No. Firefox uses its own engine, with a fairly recognizable multi-process structure that's fairly unique to it. It does make Firefox a bit of a resource hog when compared to Chrome in terms of raw data, but let's not forget that we live in a world that sees most clerical rigs pack anywhere between 8 to 16 GBs of RAM. In most cases, you won't even notice Firefox's deliberately redundant structure. On the plus side, it make Firefox exceedingly friendly to containerization efforts designed to isolate certain Web-based services (e.g. Facebook). You can even designate Facebook to its own instance of the executable, if you so choose.
But my office uses Chrome!
Fair point, but consider asking your IT leads what they plan on doing. You're not at fault for begrudgingly using Chrome at the office, but there might come a time that sees the grandfather of Chromium-based projects be treated as a pariah in the same way Edge and Internet Explorer once were.
hello google chrome refugees
don't use any of these browsers, they're also chrome
Here are my favorite firefox plugins for security/anti-tracking/anti-ad that I recommend you get
please get off chrome google is currently being investigated for being an Illegal Monopoly so get outta there okay love you bye

Amazon Web Service S3: How It Works And Its Advantages
Object storage from Amazon web service S3 is designed to allow you to access any quantity of data from any location.
What is Amazon S3?
An object storage solution with industry-leading scalability, data availability, security, and performance is Amazon Simple Storage solution (Amazon S3). For almost any use case, including data lakes, cloud-native apps, and mobile apps, millions of users across all sizes and sectors store, manage, analyze, and safeguard any quantity of data. You may optimize expenses, arrange and analyze data, and set up precise access restrictions to satisfy certain business and regulatory requirements with affordable storage classes and user-friendly administration tools.
How it works
Data is stored by Amazon S3 as objects in buckets S3. A file and its metadata are objects. A bucket is an object’s container. You must first establish a bucket and choose an AWS Region and bucket name before you can store your data in Amazon web service S3. After that, you upload your data as objects in S3 to that bucket. Every object in the bucket has a key, also known as a key name, which serves as its unique identification.
You can customize the functionality offered by S3 to suit your unique use case. For instance, you can restore mistakenly erased or overwritten objects by using Amazon S3 Versioning to store multiple copies of an object in the same bucket. Only those with specifically allowed access permissions can access buckets and the items within them since they are private. S3 Access Points, bucket policies, AWS IAM policies, and ACLs can manage access.Image credit to Amazon
Advantages of Amazon S3
Amazon S3 has unparalleled performance and can store almost any size of data, up to exabytes. Because Amazon web service S3 is completely elastic, it will automatically expand and contract as you add and delete data. You simply pay for what you use, and there’s no need to supply storage.
Sturdiness and accessibility
Amazon S3 offers industry-leading availability and the cloud’s most robust storage. Supported by the strongest SLAs in the cloud, S3’s distinctive architecture is built to deliver 99.99% availability and 99.999999999% (11 nines) data durability by default.
Data protection and security
Protect your data with unmatched security, compliance, and access control. Besides being private, safe, and encrypted by default, Amazon S3 has many auditing options to monitor requests for access to your resources.
Best performance at the lowest cost
Large volumes of data that are accessed frequently, seldom, or infrequently can be cost-effectively stored with Amazon web service S3 automated data lifecycle management and numerous storage classes with the greatest pricing performance for any application. Amazon S3 provides the throughput, latency, flexibility, and resilience to guarantee that storage never restricts performance.
S3 amazon price
A 12-month free trial of S3’s free tier includes 100 GB of data transfer out per month, 20,000 GET requests, 2,000 PUT, COPY, POST, or LIST requests, and 5GB of Amazon S3 storage in the S3 Standard storage class.
Only pay for what you actually use. There isn’t a minimum fee. The Amazon S3 Pricing of requests and data retrieval, data transport and acceleration, data management and insights, replication, and transform and query features are the cost components of S3.
Use cases
Construct a data lake
A data lake can hold any size structured or unstructured data. High-performance computers, AI, machine learning, and data analytics maximize data value.
A secure Amazon S3 data lake lets Salesforce users search, retrieve, and analyze all their data.
Make a backup and restore important data
With S3’s powerful replication capabilities, data security with AWS Backup, and a range of AWS Partner Network solutions, you can meet your recovery time goal (RTO), recovery point objective (RPO), and compliance needs.
Terabytes of photos may be restored in a matter of hours rather than days with Ancestry’s usage of Amazon web service S3 Glacier storage classes.
Data archiving at the most affordable price
To cut expenses, remove operational hassles, and obtain fresh insights, move your archives to the Amazon S3 Glacier storage classes.
Using Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval, the UK public service broadcaster BBC safely moved their 100-year-old flagship archive.
Make use of your data
Amazon S3 might be the beginning of your generative AI journey because it averages over 100 million requests per second and stores over 350 trillion objects exabytes of data for almost every use case.
Grendene is employing a data lake built on Amazon web service S3 to develop a generative AI-based virtual assistant for its sales force.

This makes it an ideal solution for startups, small businesses, and remote teams looking for the basics without the extra costs associated with advanced features.
What Does Office 365 Business Basic Offer?
Office 365 Business Basic focuses on the essentials, offering a range of tools that support basic office tasks and enable seamless communication among team members. Here’s a breakdown of what Business Basic provides:
1. Access to Web-Based Office Apps
While Business Basic doesn’t include desktop versions of Office applications, it provides full access to web versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. These web-based apps allow employees to create, edit, and collaborate on documents in real-time, no matter their location.
This plan is particularly beneficial for businesses with employees who work remotely or use their own devices, as it provides access to essential tools without the need for local installations.
2. Professional Email Hosting with Exchange Online
With Office 365 Business Basic, each user receives a professional email account via Exchange Online, which includes a 50 GB mailbox and a custom email domain. This is crucial for businesses that need a professional email setup to establish credibility and streamline communication.
Users can access their emails through Outlook on the web and mobile devices, helping them stay connected and organized wherever they are.
3. Microsoft Teams for Communication and Collaboration
Microsoft Teams has become a central tool for communication and teamwork, allowing users to chat, hold video meetings, and collaborate on documents in real-time. Office 365 Business Basic includes full access to Teams, making it easy to connect employees, foster teamwork, and support remote work.
Teams also integrates seamlessly with other Office applications, enabling collaborative document editing and file sharing within the same workspace.
4. 1 TB of OneDrive Storage per User
Business Basic provides each user with 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage, allowing them to store, share, and access files from any device. With OneDrive’s secure cloud storage, employees can collaborate more effectively and reduce the reliance on physical storage or file servers.
OneDrive also offers features like version history and file recovery, ensuring that documents are safe and changes can be tracked easily.
5. SharePoint for Document Management
For companies needing a centralized document management system, SharePoint Online is included in Business Basic. SharePoint provides a robust platform for building intranet sites, document libraries, and shared workspaces, making it an ideal tool for document storage, collaboration, and team communication.
With these core features, Office 365 Business Basic supports small businesses in their day-to-day tasks, offering essential tools for collaboration and document management without the added cost of desktop applications or advanced security features.
Exploring Other Microsoft 365 for Business Plans
Microsoft offers a variety of Business plans tailored to different levels of need. Along with Office 365 Business Basic, other options include Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Business Premium, and the Microsoft 365 Apps plan. Here’s a quick look at these alternatives and how they compare to Business Basic:
1. Microsoft 365 Business Standard
Business Standard includes everything in Business Basic but adds desktop versions of Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, allowing users to install these apps on their devices.
This plan is ideal for businesses that require offline access to Office apps and need a more comprehensive toolset to support their operations.
With Business Standard, users can work seamlessly on both desktop and web versions of Office apps, enabling them to maintain productivity regardless of internet access.
2. Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Business Premium offers all features available in Business Standard, plus advanced security and device management capabilities. These features include Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Intune for mobile device management, and Azure Information Protection for data security.
This plan is well-suited for organizations that handle sensitive data, work in regulated industries, or have specific security and compliance requirements.
By including tools for identity management and device control, Business Premium provides a higher level of security for businesses with remote or mobile workforces.
3. Microsoft 365 Apps for Business
This plan is focused purely on the core Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and does not include email hosting, Teams, or advanced security features.
Microsoft 365 Apps for Business is ideal for companies that only need the Office applications without the collaboration tools and extra services.
This plan includes desktop versions of Office apps that can be installed across multiple devices, making it suitable for employees who primarily work offline.
How to Choose Between Office 365 Business Basic and Other Plans
When choosing between Office 365 Business Basic and other Microsoft 365 for Business Plans, it’s important to assess your organization’s specific needs and budget:
Select Office 365 Business Basic if you are a small business or startup looking for a cost-effective way to access essential productivity and collaboration tools. Business Basic covers all the core functions for team communication, file sharing, and document management, making it ideal for businesses without extensive security needs.
Opt for Microsoft 365 Business Standard if you need offline access to desktop versions of Office applications. This plan is more comprehensive and suitable for businesses that require a more versatile toolkit, including web and desktop apps.
Consider Microsoft 365 Business Premium if data security, regulatory compliance, and device management are top priorities for your organization. The additional security features in Business Premium make it an ideal choice for businesses dealing with confidential or sensitive data.
Choose Microsoft 365 Apps for Business if your organization only needs Office applications without email hosting or collaboration tools. This plan offers flexibility for employees who use Office tools primarily on their devices, either for offline or online work.

User Experience (UX) Design:
User experience design has become a focal point in website development. Ensuring that a website is not only visually appealing but also user-friendly is essential for its success. Understanding the basics of SEO is crucial for website designers. Ensuring that a website is optimized for search engines from the design stage can significantly impact its visibility and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs).
Read the full article
