Stream with me? - DUKE DENNIS ONESHOT
Tumblr media
Fluff 💗
1400+ words
I don’t think the title really goes with the story but whatevs 😭😭
This is my first ever one shot so pls be nice 😞💗, I would love feedback tho!!
•••••••
Scrolling through the never-ending posts on TikTok, your attention span decreases every second, and your mind starts to wander off, wondering what your boyfriend of three years was doing. As if the universe was listening, a notification pops up at the top of your phone, notifying you that Duke on Twitch started to stream. A smile displays on your face and you start to watch his stream.
"Wassup my n***as, how are yall?" (I've never watched any of his streams before, so sorry if it's completely wrong 🥲) Duke says smiling at all the viewers flooding in commenting greetings back to him.
• • •
You continue to watch him for a while watching him laugh along with the viewers and his friends, reacting to random songs and videos. He then reads a comment that one of his fans wrote;
“ ‘Is Y/N joining the stream?’ Y/N ain’t at the crib right now n***gas, she was doing some photoshoots, and bruh they take long as hell, so she probably crashed at her place and is taking a long fat ass nap,” Duke replies smiling mentioning you, showing his 15k grills off.
His fans knew about you ever since Kai accidentally revealed to his stream that you and Duke were dating a few months in the relationship.
Flashback
Duke was in Kai’s room streaming with Kai on his friend's Twitch. They were playing games that their fans had suggested but Duke began to get distracted by his phone pinging with messages from you, asking when he was going to be done so he could go upstairs and cuddle. The fans noticed the taller one was distracted and heard his phone, so they did what fans do best and began to troll and joke around asking him to tell his girl they said hi etc.
Kai was oblivious that the chat was joking and that they didn’t know whether his best friend had a girl or not and asked “Wait they know? When did you tell them you were dating Y/N?”
Duke was shocked that his 5’7 friend just outed him like that and he pushed him lightly shouting “N***A THEY DIDN’T KNOW!”
You, Y/N Y/L/N the highest-paid model, who is known for her struts on the Victoria's Secret Runways. You work with lots of big and bougie brands, such as Gucci, Hermes etc.
You’ve been friends with Kai for a long time now, and he even introduced you to Duke which kindled the relationship you now have with the 6’6 giant, and you could never stop being grateful.
They both began to laugh uncontrollably knowing that Kai was going to get a scolding from you after the stream ended. After a few minutes, they calmed down and remained composure, Duke began to answer a few of the million questions he was being asked.
“ ‘How long have you guys been fuckin?’ Nahhh you n***gas are weird bruh,” he replied laughing.
“ ‘Is it THE Y/N??’ Uhmmm bro I don’t know,” he says laughing but then Kai confirms it, “YES IT THEEE Y/N, he’s the rizzler god but bruh how did n***ga pull THE Y/N!”
Duke laughs loudly and pushes Kai off his chair but also somewhat agrees. He didn’t know how he pulled you, but he is making sure that he keeps you forever as his.
After the stream, Duke makes his way up to his bedroom to find you and Kai is following him. Duke finds you and lets Kai in the room so he can apologise.
“Y/N I’m sorry I accidentally outed you and Duke on the stream today,” Kai says looking down and apologising.
“Don’t worry Kai I was watching the stream when you did it, but you made up for yourself because of the comment you made about how you didn’t know how Duke pulled me,” You say giggling and getting up to hug him before walking up to Duke.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and you both leaned in, connecting your lips. Duke tried to deepen the kiss, but you remembered that Kai was in the room so you separated from him and gave him a peck on the cheek.
“So what should we do baby?” You asked Duke looking up at him.
He smiled at the cute face he was in love with, “We don’t need to do anything but since it’s out then we should probably formally announce that we are dating on our Instagrams, and maybe you can hop on a stream with me?”
I agree and we both do it with Kai’s input, as he outed us so he might as well help us with the rest. After the announcement, fans began to flood the comment sections with both love and hate but you didn’t care, you only needed Duke and he only needed you. After the Instagram posts, you went on a stream with Duke answering fans' questions and they began to love you even more, where sometimes they would just ask for you to come on the stream as he opened the live-up.
Flashback ended
Duke messages you asking if you are up and want to go and stay the night at his. You quickly replied and accepted the offer. You look over at his stream and you can see him smiling to himself from your message which makes you giggle to yourself knowing that he still smiles and gets happy that you stay over at his.
Once you get to the infamous AMP mansion, you unlock the door with the key that Duke gave you, since he and even the rest of the AMP trusts you to have and keep. You go upstairs to his bedroom and knock then open the door to him streaming to millions of his fans. He quickly notices that it’s you and gets up not caring about the stream and hugs you, grabbing your ass as his lips connect to yours making you groan. He begins to deepen the kiss forgetting that his fans all over the world could see his back towards them but know that you both are possibly exchanging saliva. A loud AI voice speaks out from a fan donating 5 dollars and comments speaking out “Damn Duke I didn’t know you did it like dat”
That comment makes you disconnect your lips quickly and laugh. Duke takes your bag and puts it on the bed before he sits on his gaming chair and then lets you sit on his lap. He wraps his hands around your waist holding you tight making sure you are comfortable.
“You wanna stream with me?” He whispers in your ear but you’re sure his fans could still hear his deep voice.
Blushing, your mind wandered off to how he whispered different things in your ear last weekend.
You begin to read off comments and then see his viewer count drastically increase from 1.3 million to 5 million. You gasp showing Duke and he chuckles lowly “Damn mamas I should have you on my stream more since n***gas only come to see you.”
You blush and read off a comment that says ‘When is Y/N going to make her own Twitch?’
“I don’t think I’ll ever start streaming on my own, but I will continue to bombard Duke’s streams now and then,” I reply smiling up at the camera and Duke.
“Mamas I mean if you start a Twitch, it’ll probably go viral overnight I mean look at all the n***gas that came just because you popped in,” Duke says slowly rubbing your thigh as he gives you eye contact. You smile and wrap your arm around the back of his neck so you’re side-hugging him.
You read another comment which says ‘So when is the proposal happening?’
You chuckle and then look at your man, “Yeah baby! When are you putting a rock on my hand?”
He smiled brightly, his grills shining in the light, “Oh mamas just you wait and see,”
You immediately start giggling and blushing, hiding your face in the crook of his tatted neck. He chuckles finding you the cutest and he smiles to himself knowing that his future wife is sitting on his lap right now.
After an hour of streaming together, Duke ends the stream and lifts you taking you to his bed. He lays down next to you, admiring your face which millions all over the world wish they had. He smiles and brings you closer to him, putting his hand on the back of your neck, and passionately kissing your lips deeply. You then disconnect to gather some air and lay on top of him. He starts to play with your soft hair, “Mamas I’m definitely marrying you and giving you all my kids,”
“I would love that,” You smile blushing.

Ford Torino
This car was not only a beauty but when properly equipped packed some serious muscle under the hood.
Here's why the first-gen Torino is a winner.
The Torino started as an upscale version of the Fairlane. By 1968, it became the top trim level.
You Could Get It Any Way You Wanted: The first-gen Torino offered several body styles, including a two-door hardtop, fastback, convertible, four-door sedan, and station wagon, catering to a wide range of tastes.
Gas Saver or Circle Track Beast: It came with impressive engine choices, from the 200 cu in I6 to the mighty 428 cu in Cobra Jet V8, making it a favorite among muscle car enthusiasts.
NASCAR Roof: While not as aggressive as the Superbird's design, the fastback "SportsRoof" model had excellent aerodynamics, proving advantageous on the race track and contributing to its NASCAR success.
Looks that Kill: The 1968 redesign featured a full-width recessed grille, horizontal quad headlights, and a sleek body with a horizontal crease running from front to back, giving it a distinct and stylish look.
A Plush Interior: The interior boasted a new dashboard with four round pods, ample padding, and even optional shoulder belts for front outboard passengers.
The GT Package: The Torino GT came with special name plaques, GT markings, and a handling suspension package with heavy-duty springs and shocks, which really made the big car handle.
It was a Huge Success: 1968 was a great year for the Torino, with 172,083 units produced, reflecting its popularity and positive reception by the automotive press.
And, It Paced the Brickyard: The 1968 Torino GT convertible was selected as the Indianapolis 500 pace car, which was (and is) quite the honor
The first-generation Ford Torino was more than just a car; it was a symbol of style, power, and innovation. Whether cruising down the boulevard or tearing up the race track, the Torino left an indelible mark on the muscle car era.

What Cars Would All the Little Characters in The Amazing Digital Circus Drive?
Welcome! To the AMAZING DIGITAL car show? That's right! We're gonna profile all of the characters and figure out what each of them would drive, based on their personality and requirements.
Starting off with the most popular total irredeemable asshole, Jax!
Tumblr media
Jax is the worst. He's brilliantly entertaining, but he really only cares about himself and entertaining himself. He needs a car that's driver-focused. Something fast enough to get into trouble, and fancy enough that he can feel better about himself driving it.
Tumblr media
His modified BMW 328i coupe fits perfectly. It's the perfect combination of smug and wrathful that suits him. It's also lightly modified on larger wheels, basic "cold air" intake (the box said 10 horsepower!) and a crackle tune with a shitty exhaust. It pops and bangs along as he weaves through traffic, the turn signal stalk having never been touched once.
Next up! Our favorite ray of sunshine, Ragatha.
Tumblr media
Ragatha is a sweetheart. Often, sickeningly so. She needs a car with as much preschool teacher-energy that she has.
Tumblr media
Ragatha has a Kia Soul. She saw the hamster commercials on TV and thought they were adorable. When she walked into the dealership, the salesman's mouth watered at seeing an easy target. She pointed to the top of the line model right in the center of the dealer showroom and said "That one is adorable! can I have that one?". She then spent 3 hours in the dealership getting fleeced for every single optional extra the Kia salesperson could come up with.
Moving onto our resident bug collector, Kinger!
Tumblr media
Kinger, despite not really being all there most of the time, is clearly very intelligent. He seems the most aware of the actual mechanical functions of the Digital Circus, and fans theorize that his "bug collecting" comes from being a QA tester before he got shlorped into the circus.
Tumblr media
Kinger would absolutely drive a SAAB 9-5 Aero Wagon. Fun Fact! Back when SAAB actually existed, they had, statistically, the highest-educated drivers of any car brand. I actually work at a major university, and I still see a good dozen SAABs being driven by professors with more degrees than a thermostat.
My lovely dysphoric darling Zooble is next!
Tumblr media
Zooble is a functionalist. They're observant and intelligent, but they feel unheard in the circus. Zooble needs a car that works hard for them. They value the utility of their vehicle above all else, and their car can often blend into the background unseen.
Tumblr media
Zooble's Ford Ranger is perfect for them. It's an truck. It goes down the road, it has space in the back for objects and things. Rangers were rather disposable back in the day, but luckily they're quite repairable which makes up for it. Zooble has no problems getting their hands greasy when need be!
Unmasking to our next little character, Gangle!
Tumblr media
Gangle loves Manga, she's an artist who's not very sure of herself. She likes Japanesey-things, which like, who doesn't? and we also know her old job as a shift manager! This means we know her budget, which is: low
Tumblr media
Gangle likes her Nissan Micra because it's cute. She got it because it was cheap, and she keeps it because it's good on gas and surprisingly fun to drive! Low weight will do that to ya.
Finally getting to the big man himself, Caine! no relation to Abel.
Tumblr media
Caine is larger than life. He needs a car just as insanely exaggerated as he is, something that has no basis in real-world practicality, but is just more. More engine, more bodywork, more flair, more everything.
Tumblr media
The 1930 Cadillac V16 Phaeton is exactly that. It's 18 and a half feet long, has 8 headlights, two grilles, two spare tires, two entire dashboards! The rear seat passengers even have their own windshield they can flip up when the roof is down. Not to mention the incredible V16 engine means it has double the cylinders and double the size of an already very large V8. It also has an "awooga" horn which just feels right.
Finally! Last but never the least, our protagonist herself, Pomni!
Tumblr media
Pomni is down to earth. She values things she can be sure of, and the Digital Circus really throws all of that off a cliff. She's also reasonably intelligent, emotionally and numerically. She would value a car that gets her from point A to point B, every single time while carrying whatever she needs to carry. Something she can rely on.
Tumblr media
She'd drive a Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Dependable. Reliable. There when you need it, just like Pomni.
Thank you for tuning into another What Cars Would All the Little Characters Drive! Comment any suggestions for the next cartoon you'd like to see!

my dream car is a ford f150 or f250 from some point between 1970s or 80s (any model in those decades is nice to me) in any two tone color (fave is brown/white but im not picky) with a standard length bed with a camper shell and now here’s tricky part: it would need to have a perfect working engine with no issues whatsoever and also it uses gas that isn’t bad for the environment and also drives 1000000000000mpg andobviously it has no gps screen or screens, it’s all physical buttons, and you can leave the headlights on and keys not in the car and it won’t auto shut them off, it’s an entirely un “smart” car, it predicts none of my needs, but also i can play any music on the speakers but magically, not necessarily using a streaming service just magically instead. And of course i’d get a classy utilitarian grill guard and a couple mini roof lights but i wouldn’t want them to turn on necessarily because i’m not about that flashy life

The Ultimate Guide to New Barbecue Installation for Your Outdoor Space
Transforming your backyard into the ultimate grilling haven begins with the perfect barbecue installation. Whether you're a seasoned grilling enthusiast or new to outdoor cooking, installing a new barbecue can revolutionize your outdoor living experience. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of new barbecue installation, essential tips, and answers to common questions to ensure your investment is both functional and enjoyable.
Why a New Barbecue Installation Is Worth It
Adding a barbecue to your outdoor space offers numerous benefits. First and foremost, it creates a dedicated area for cooking and entertaining. Whether hosting summer parties or cozy family dinners, a barbecue provides the perfect centerpiece for outdoor gatherings. Additionally, modern barbecues are designed with advanced features such as temperature control, multiple burners, and even built-in smokers, making cooking more convenient and precise.
Investing in a New Barbecue Sales also enhances your property's value. Outdoor kitchens and grilling stations are popular among homeowners, making your property more appealing if you decide to sell. Moreover, a new barbecue allows you to customize your setup to suit your needs, from built-in grills to portable models, ensuring a seamless fit for your lifestyle.
Key Steps for Installing a New Barbecue
Choose the Right Type of Barbecue There are various barbecue options available, including gas, charcoal, and electric grills. Gas barbecues are known for their convenience and quick heating, while charcoal grills offer that classic smoky flavor. Electric barbecues, on the other hand, are ideal for smaller spaces or areas with strict regulations.
Select the Perfect Location Proper placement is crucial for safety and functionality. Ensure the barbecue is positioned away from flammable materials, overhanging branches, or structures. A level surface, such as a concrete patio, is ideal. Consider proximity to utilities like gas or electrical outlets if you're installing a built-in model.
Professional Installation Services For built-in barbecues, professional installation is highly recommended. Experts ensure the grill is securely installed, gas connections are safe, and the overall setup meets local safety codes. Additionally, professionals can help integrate the barbecue with your outdoor kitchen seamlessly.
Maintenance and Upkeep Once installed, regular maintenance is vital to prolong your barbecue's lifespan. Clean the grill grates after every use, check gas lines for leaks, and schedule annual inspections if you have a gas-powered barbecue. Keeping your barbecue in top shape ensures it remains a reliable cooking companion for years.
Design Ideas for a New Barbecue Setup
When installing a new barbecue, the design possibilities are endless. You can create a full-scale outdoor kitchen complete with countertops, storage cabinets, and a sink for washing up. For smaller spaces, a simple yet stylish built-in grill with surrounding seating can be the perfect solution.
Consider adding features like lighting for nighttime grilling or a pergola to provide shade and define the grilling area. Pair your barbecue with outdoor dining furniture to create a cohesive and inviting space. Personalizing the setup ensures your barbecue installation becomes the focal point of your outdoor lifestyle.
FAQs About New Barbecue Installation
Q1: How much does it cost to install a new barbecue? The cost of barbecue installation varies depending on the type of grill and whether it’s a standalone or built-in model. A basic setup may cost a few hundred dollars, while custom-built outdoor kitchens with premium grills can run into the thousands.
Q2: Can I install a barbecue myself? Portable grills are relatively easy to set up and may not require professional assistance. However, built-in grills, particularly those requiring gas or electrical connections, should always be installed by a licensed professional to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.
Q3: What is the best barbecue for outdoor use? The best barbecue depends on your cooking style and needs. Gas grills are great for quick, consistent cooking, while charcoal grills offer unmatched flavor. Electric grills are ideal for convenience, especially in smaller spaces or apartments.
Q4: How long does a new barbecue installation take? A simple portable grill can be set up in under an hour. However, a built-in barbecue installation may take several hours or even a couple of days, depending on the complexity of the design and the utility connections required.
Q5: What are the maintenance requirements for a new barbecue? Regular maintenance includes cleaning the grill grates, inspecting gas lines for leaks, and removing ash from charcoal grills. For built-in setups, ensure burners, igniters, and ventilation are cleaned and checked periodically to maintain performance and safety.
Conclusion
Installing a new barbecue is an exciting way to elevate your outdoor space, whether for casual family meals or lively gatherings with friends. With careful planning, professional installation, and regular maintenance, your new barbecue can become the heart of your outdoor entertaining area. From choosing the right type of grill to creating a stylish setup, the possibilities are endless.

Top 5 Must-Have Elements in Every Outdoor Kitchen.
Creating a stunning and functional outdoor kitchen is a dream for many homeowners who love to entertain or simply enjoy the outdoors. An outdoor kitchen extends your living space and makes cooking a more enjoyable experience.
Whether you're starting from scratch or upgrading an existing setup, certain elements are essential to ensure your outdoor kitchen is both practical and inviting. Here are the top five must-have elements that every outdoor kitchen needs to truly shine.
Tumblr media
1. High-Quality Grill
At the heart of every great outdoor kitchen is a high-quality grill. This is the centerpiece where you'll cook delicious meals for family and friends. When choosing a grill, consider the type that best suits your cooking style—gas, charcoal, or pellet. Gas grills are popular for their convenience and consistent heat, while charcoal grills offer a smoky flavor that many enthusiasts cherish. Pellet grills combine the benefits of both with added versatility.
For an impressive selection of grills, check out the offerings at Embers Grill & Fireplace Store, where you can find the perfect fit for your outdoor kitchen.
2. Functional Counter Space
Having ample counter space is crucial for preparing meals and organizing your outdoor kitchen. Countertops provide a surface for cutting vegetables, arranging platters, and serving food. Opt for materials that can withstand outdoor conditions, such as granite, concrete, or stainless steel. These materials are not only durable but also resistant to weather and easy to clean.
A large island with built-in seating can offer both additional workspace and a comfortable spot for guests to gather while you cook. This multifunctional approach maximizes space and enhances the usability of your outdoor kitchen.
3. Refrigeration and Storage Solutions
A built-in outdoor refrigerator ensures you have cold beverages and fresh ingredients readily available. Look for models specifically designed for outdoor use, which can handle temperature fluctuations and resist the elements.
In addition to refrigeration, ample storage is essential for keeping your kitchen organized. Cabinets and drawers can store utensils, cookware, and other essentials. Weather-resistant materials and designs that keep out pests and moisture will ensure your storage solutions remain functional and attractive for years to come.
4. Weather Protection
Protecting your outdoor kitchen from the elements will extend its lifespan and maintain its appearance. Install a durable roof or pergola to shield your kitchen from rain and intense sun. This provides a comfortable cooking environment and helps protect your appliances and furniture from weather-related wear and tear.
Consider incorporating windbreaks or outdoor curtains for additional protection and privacy. These elements can enhance the comfort of your outdoor kitchen and allow you to enjoy it in various weather conditions.
5. Lighting and Ambiance
Effective lighting is essential for both functionality and ambiance in your outdoor kitchen. Task lighting, such as under-cabinet lights and overhead fixtures, ensures you can see clearly while cooking. Ambient lighting, such as string lights or lanterns, adds a cozy and inviting atmosphere for evening gatherings.
Incorporating dimmable lights or adjustable fixtures can help create different moods and settings depending on the occasion. Proper lighting enhances both the practicality and the overall experience of your outdoor kitchen, making it a pleasant space to enjoy day or night.

Choosing the Right Equipment Supplier in Denver
Selecting a reliable equipment supplier is crucial for getting quality products and excellent customer service. Here are some factors to consider when choosing a supplier in Denver:
Reputation and Reviews: Look for suppliers with positive reviews and a good reputation in the industry. Word-of-mouth recommendations from fellow restaurateurs can also be valuable.
Product Range: Ensure the supplier offers a wide range of equipment from reputable brands. This variety allows you to compare and choose the best options for your needs.

Compliance with health and safety regulations is non-negotiable in the restaurant industry. In Denver, the Department of Public Health and Environment oversees these regulations. Key areas to focus on include:
Food Handling and Storage: Ensure your equipment supports proper food handling and storage practices to prevent contamination and spoilage.
Sanitation Standards: Equip your kitchen with the necessary tools for maintaining hygiene, such as commercial dishwashers, handwashing stations, and sanitizers.
Fire Safety: Install fire suppression systems, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers as required by local regulations. Regular maintenance of cooking equipment can also prevent fire hazards.
Ventilation and Air Quality: Proper ventilation systems are essential for maintaining air quality and preventing the buildup of smoke and grease.
Accessibility: Ensure your establishment complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by providing accessible facilities and equipment.
Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Equipment
With increasing awareness of environmental issues, many restaurateurs are opting for sustainable and energy-efficient equipment. Benefits include reduced utility bills, a smaller carbon footprint, and positive customer perception. Here are some tips for choosing eco-friendly equipment:
Energy Star Ratings: Look for equipment with Energy Star certification, which indicates high energy efficiency.
Eco-Friendly Materials: Choose equipment made from sustainable materials, such as stainless steel, which is durable and recyclable.
Water Efficiency: Opt for water-efficient dishwashers and faucets to reduce water consumption and waste.
Waste Management: Implement waste management practices, such as composting and recycling, and choose equipment that supports these efforts.
Local Sourcing: Whenever possible, source equipment and ingredients locally to reduce transportation emissions and support the local economy.
Financing Your Restaurant Equipment
Purchasing restaurant equipment can be a significant investment. Fortunately, several financing options are available to help manage costs:
Leasing: Leasing equipment allows you to conserve capital and upgrade to newer models as needed. It also includes maintenance and repair services.
Loans and Credit Lines: Business loans and lines of credit from banks or other financial institutions can provide the necessary funds for purchasing equipment.
Vendor Financing: Some suppliers offer financing options directly, which can be convenient and tailored to your purchase.
Government Grants and Programs: Explore local and federal programs that offer grants or low-interest loans for small businesses, particularly those promoting sustainability.
Maintaining and Repairing Your Equipment
Proper maintenance is key to extending the lifespan of your equipment and ensuring it operates efficiently. Here are some maintenance tips:
Regular Cleaning: Follow manufacturer guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing equipment. Regular cleaning prevents buildup and reduces wear and tear.
Scheduled Inspections: Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues before they become major problems. This includes checking for leaks, unusual noises, and performance issues.
Professional Servicing: Hire professional technicians for regular servicing and repairs. They have the expertise to handle complex equipment and ensure it operates safely and efficiently.
Employee Training: Train your staff on the proper use and care of equipment. Misuse can lead to damage and increased maintenance costs.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs. This helps track the history of each piece of equipment and plan for future replacements or upgrades.
Conclusion
Starting a restaurant in Denver is an exciting venture, filled with potential for creativity and success. However, the foundation of any successful restaurant lies in its equipment. From selecting the right ovens and refrigerators to navigating health regulations and financing options, every decision plays a critical role in your establishment's operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. By investing in quality equipment, choosing reliable suppliers, and committing to proper maintenance, you can build a robust kitchen that supports your culinary vision and stands the test of time. Denver's dynamic culinary scene offers endless opportunities, and with the right tools and knowledge, you can carve out your own niche in this vibrant market. Remember, the journey of a thousand dishes begins with a single piece of equipment. Choose wisely, maintain diligently, and watch your culinary dreams come to life in the Mile-High City.

Joel and Ellie were sound asleep. It was something you didn’t see too often, Joel rarely slept through the night when you had bed in a QZ let alone here in the middle of the woods. Ellie was a different story, that girl could fall asleep pretty much anywhere. You figured you’d ask for forgiveness later and let Joel sleep through the night and continue on patrol for the night. You ran your normal few laps that you had been accustomed to over the past few nights you camped in this area, taking the past few days to rest and gather equipment from the nearby towns. Eventually, you expanded your patrol out a little wider, not by much, maybe 20 minutes out. That’s when you found it. The pickup truck that was abandoned near the edge of the woods. It was a metallic teal color and looked like the most recently released model from before the outbreak. The real test was gas. But before you could check that, you needed to check for bodies, alive or dead. That took you maybe another 10 minutes, checking the perimeter to make sure it wasn’t a trap, your gun in hand, finger sitting straight next to the trigger. All clear. After making your way back, you pulled your backpack off and pulled out a tube and quickly siphoned the tank to find it was pretty full, it didn’t take much effort to pull the liquid up the tube. You knew better than to hot wire it now, it would wake up the company you were with and give them heart attacks.
So instead, you made your way back, marking a trail so you could find the truck easier with Joel and Ellie.
By the time you made it back, dawn had begun. Joel was awake, heating up coffee on the portable grill you had found in the town over.
“I’ve been worried.” He said at a whisper, not wanting to wake Ellie up.
“Clearly.” You pointed at what he was doing.
“I didn’t hear anything concerning, you logged at 4:30,” he pointed to the notebook insinuating he knew you were okay, “plus, I know you can handle yourself.” His texan accent was thick at the end of that sentence.
“I found somethin’.” You said with a smile on your face, rifle over your shoulder. You were actually surprised he couldn’t figure it out, smell the gasoline on you.
“What’d you find?” Ellie’s eager voice alerted from behind you two.
“A car.” You raised your eyebrows knowing it would get an excited response from her, and you were right as she jumped up and down. “Well, actually, even better, a truck.” You turned to Joel now who looked less than thrilled. “With gas. Three-quarter tank.”
Joel’s face went from less than thrilled to worried in seconds. He was standing up now, taking the rifle from your shoulder.
“What’s his problem?” Ellie said as her head turned to watch Joel follow the trail you left, picking up on it quickly.
“Grumpy.” You mumbled under your breath and followed behind him, nodding your head for Ellie to follow. “I perimeter checked it, Joel!” You called out to him.
“No one just leaves an almost full tank car somewhere for fucks sake!” He called back at you, his voice moving from annoyed to pissed very fast. You knew it was because he cared about you, Ellie included, whether he wanted to admit that or not.
Before you knew it, your quick pace brought you to the car, Joel was already searching for signs in the surrounding area, anything that made this feel more uneasy than it already was.
He came back, the rifle over his shoulder verse in his hand and as he approached you and Ellie who were standing there patiently waiting for him. He held the gun out to you, it was Joel’s way of apologizing, there was a lot to be said in the gesture. His way of  letting you know he jumped to conclusions and was just looking out for y’all.
“So?!” You threw the strap to the rifle back over you and spread your arms out like you were a game show model auctioning off a prize. Both Ellie and Joel’s faces were underwhelmed as they took in the truck. “It’s a 2003! Brand new!” You lifted your voice in hopes of lifting their faces.
“It’s fuckin’ teal.” Ellie said as her head tilted to the side.
“Did I mention it’s got practically a full tank of gas?!” You retorted.
“But it’s fuckin’ teal.” Joel repeated Ellie’s sentence which made her look up at him in a little bit of admiration. If you weren’t so pissed at their reactions it would have warmed your heart.
“It’s a fuckin’ Chevy Silverado. With 4 wheels.” You opened the driver door to show them the inside. “Comfy leather fuckin’ seats. Way more comfortable than the piece of shit shoes we’ve been walking in.”
Joel knew you had a point, but he did too.
“This thing is gonna stick out like a fuckin’ disco ball if we take it.” He was approaching the car to look around.
“If?” You questioned him and bent your head down like he was crazy. “You wanna make it to Tommy’s? This is how we do it.” You were now meeting Joel with what he knew, his own attitude.
You could tell your last statement was sticking in his head, going back and forth about the best way to stay stealth.
“Joel, any car, any thing  is gonna stick out like a fuckin’ disco ball.” You bargained with him.
“She’s right.” Ellie chimed in. Both of your heads snapped to the girl. “I’m just sayin’, I’m not a big fan of the color either, but beggars can’t be choosers, right?”
“Exactly.” You looked back at Joel.
“Pack up your stuff.” He looked over at Ellie who was running back immediately with delight. His gaze moved back to you, a softened look grew on his face, another wordless gesture. Thanks.
_____
You began your ride shortly after packing up. Finding maps and CDs in the glove box.
“Oh my gosh.” Fidgeting with the CD you put it in the player and raised the volume. “We loved this song!” You couldn’t hide your exhilaration at the song that began playing through the speakers as you looked over at Joel in the driver seat.
As the whistling began for the first 20 seconds of the song, you could have swore you saw Joel’s mouth curl up into a smile before you belted out the first few lyrics.
“Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my Ma' and Pa'. Not the way that I do love youuuu!” You let a country twang out as you sang, one that you used often to mock Joel.
The next set of lyrics was the man’s voice and you expected Joel to chime in but you let out a disappointing groan when you were met with silence.
“Joel, you’re supposed to sing the holy moly me oh my part.”
“I ain’t sayin’ holy moly.” The rasp in his voice was deeper than usual.
“You just did!” Ellie teased and let out a giggle from the back seat with a large smile on her face at what was occurring in front of her eyes.
You turned to face the girl in the back seat and grabbed her face lightly in between your hands and sang the next set of lyrics to her. “Man, oh, man, you're my best friend, I scream it to the nothingness, there ain't nothing that I need.”
She blushed and let out another giggle, mesmerized by your spirit and ability to find joy in pretty much everything on your journey west.
Turning back around in your seat, you sang under your breath as you looked out the window, your left hand resting on the console of the truck when it was met with another more calloused and rough hand.
You didn’t bother to glance down, just grabbed his fingers and intertwined them within your own as you kept humming and singing under your breath.
“Oh, home, let me come home. Home is wherever I'm with you.”
His thumb caressed over yours to the beat, a little notion that didn’t go unnoticed by you or by the girl in the back seat. Her eyes stared at the rare occasion of affection being displayed between you and Joel. She knew you two were a couple, you had told stories about your time together pre and post outbreak so what she had originally assumed became real. Ellie continued to watch the two of you interact as the song played, small smiles and glances exchanged, a couple laughs, it was nice seeing the both of you have moments like this. She wished this is where the story ended, you three driving off into the sun ready for the road of adventure to come.
_____
It wasn’t where the story ended though. The car crapped out on them a few days in, and although they got pretty far, Wyoming was still a ways away and winter was here, in full effect.
The winter coat and boots you had picked up at some abandoned mall before the weather got too much to handle weren’t enough to stop you from getting sick. The sniffles started on your journey through the snow, you waved Joel and Ellie off, telling them it was just the cold and that you were fine. A few days in it was becoming hard to breathe.
You woke up one morning, burning up, Joel was over your body that was covered in your sleeping bag and his. His hand was on your forehead until you were leaning over and fighting a coughing fit.
“She needs medicine.” Ellie’s voice was desperate as she stood at your feet.
“I’m fine.” You said with labored breathing.
“You’re not fine.” Joel said with similar desperation in voice.
Once you laid back down your eyes looked at his, they were filled with pain and worry, you lifted your hand out of the sleeping bag and placed it on Joel’s face and rubbed your gloved thumb on his face. “I just need sleep, I’ll be fine in the morning.”
“Take this at least, please.” Joel’s voice was muffled as he turned around to his bag to pull out tylenol. You both knew it wouldn’t do much but it would cut the fever which was better than nothing so you didn’t put up a fight and washed down the pills with a shot of whiskey. “Atta girl.” Joel said as he held your head up to drink the liquid and then passed you a jug of water to stay hydrated before moving to set up a fire.
The few doses of Tylenol did help, you also did a good job at hiding the pain and swallowing your coughs. Convincing the two of them to continue the journey with you versus watching you fight a fever was hard enough, you wanted to get as far as you could before having the same conversation again. Passing the dam, you felt yourself get weaker. Your legs were holding on by a thread, your body was giving up. It became harder to hide the coughs, conceal the sweat from the fever and the shivers from the cold sweats. But it was too late.
“Hey Joel, what if this is the River of Death?” Ellie’s voice was full of apprehension referring to the river the two survivors in the middle of the woods had told you all about.
Joel stopped and looked back at Ellie and then towards the river.
It was at that moment that you fell over, in the middle of a coughing fit, this time blood coming up from your throat as you did, the swelling of your throat causing you to gag and throw up at the same time. Joel was moving back towards you but froze when he heard an unfamiliar voice. “Drop the gun!”
Joel turned and grabbed Ellie behind him before throwing the gun to the ground.
The group of 5-8 people on horses stood around the 3 of you. Everyone’s eyes turned to you as you coughed up one more time before completely passing out.
“She’s not infected!” Joel’s voice was full of despair probably as he was brought back to a similar moment in his life, but this time with two people he cared for. “She’s real sick, got pneumonia, please, please just let me help her.” He was fighting to run towards you, pick you up and haul you the hell out of there, but his mind wouldn’t let him step from blocking Ellie.
“Joel?” Tommy’s voice called from one of the horses as he brought down his bandana.
“Tommy?” Joel’s voice perked up in slight confusion.
“Is that–holy shit.” Tommy was quick to come to it and was off his horse and rushing to you within seconds which was all the invitation Joel needed to join. “Get the med truck out here, now!” Tommy called back to his group who was quick to radio the request in. “What the hell is wrong with her?” He was flipping you over as Joel checked your vital signs.
“Pneumonia, she’s been fighting it for over a week now. We ran out of medicine, and even that, I’ve only been given her tylenol, didn’t have nothin’ else.” His voice was frantic.
Before another minute passed a truck was pulling up through the snow, Tommy and Joel were picking you up and bringing you into the truck. Your eyes blinked open for a minute as you saw Tommy’s face holding your feet up as he loaded you into the teal colored truck.
Ellie had tried to get in the car but Joel ordered her to go with the others, if Tommy was with this group, he had to trust them. It was either that or have the girl see you in this condition and he wasn’t okay with that.
Everything went dark again before you were blinking your eyes open again, this time seeing Joel’s face as he held onto you. His distressed voice brought you a little more awake.
“Stay with me, baby.” His arm was rubbing up and down yours.
“It’s fuckin’ teal” Your voice croaked open at a whisper.
“What?” Joel looked down at you and once a few seconds passed he realized what you said but you had already closed your eyes.
“Come on, now. Stay with me. Come on.” He shook you lightly. “Give me shit about the color of the truck, come on, please, baby.” A tear fell from his face onto yours which is the last thing you fully remember before everything went black.
_____
The light sound of music brought you out of bed, the window was wide open, the white sheer curtains blowing into the room, the sound of birds chirping was disguised by the muffles of a soft beat, guitar strums and whistles. You looked around and realized you were in a house, you moved out of the bed and rushed downstairs following the sound of the music.
Opening the front door, you saw Joel in a lightweight flannel standing next to a teal colored truck hanging his right arm on the door with the biggest smile on his face. You realized that’s where the music was coming from, the Edward Sharpe song you remember singing in a car so similar to this a few months back with him and Ellie. You let out an audible laugh as you stood on the porch, one of true joy and disbelief.
“What is this?” You whispered it but Joel knew what you had said.
“I traded with Tommy, figured we could take it off the commune, go down to the river and have some picnics and what not.” He shrugged it off like it was nothing.
“Joel Miller, you romantic man.” Your feet ran down the step and into the car immediately. “And you’re playing my favorite song!” You turned up the volume louder.
He let out a laugh and looked in at you. “You like it?”
“I love it.” You turned to him with a smile and crawled over to the driver seat to grab the collar of his flannel and bring him in for a kiss. His hand was still resting on the car door as you brought him down and planted your lips on his. You felt them move up into a smile and you let yours do the same before cupping his face even tighter to yours. As you pulled out of the kiss you looked into his eyes. “Well?” You questioned him. “Where you takin’ me, Lone Star?”
He let out a laugh and shoed you over in the barrel seats and began to drive. The scene was beautiful, the mountains and the sun in the distance, the trees silhouettes around the horizon when suddenly it all went white and you noticed the song was repeating over and over again.
You looked over at Joel in the driver seat and noticed he was staring back at you with soft teary eyes. That’s when you realized it.
“I’m not gonna make it, am I, Joel?”
His head shook as a tear fell from his cheek. You felt it on your face, even though you were on the other side of the truck and that’s when you fully understood this wasn’t real.
“You take care of our Ellie girl, okay?” You were now leaning into him, grabbing his hands in your own and squeezing but you felt how weak it was. Joel didn’t speak just nodded as he squeezed your hands back.
After a few moments of just being there with him, you turned to exit the car, still not able to see anything but a bright white light through the windows. You took a deep breath and turned to get one last look at him, your hands still intertwined.
“Let me go home.”
Your grip fell from his and you disappeared out from the car door.
Joel’s voice whispered, he knew you were gone, he felt you leave but he still spoke like there was hope.
“Home is wherever I’m with you.”

Outdoor BBQ Grills Guide
Dive into the Outdoor BBQ Grills Guide and discover everything you need to know about choosing the perfect grill for your garden gatherings. From charcoal to electric, we’ve got the juicy details covered.
Introduction: Sizzle Your Way to BBQ Mastery
Ah, the smell of sizzling burgers on a summer afternoon—there's nothing quite like a good barbecue to bring family and friends together. But, choosing the right grill? Now that's a different story. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of options out there, don’t worry. Our Outdoor BBQ Grills Guide is here to help you navigate the world of grills and set you on the path to becoming the backyard barbecue hero. - Check UK Prices - Types of BBQ Grills When it comes to BBQ grills, the choices are as varied as the flavors they produce. Let's break down the most popular types so you can find the best fit for your grilling style. 1. Charcoal Grills There's something undeniably primal about cooking over a charcoal grill. It’s the go-to choice for those who love that classic, smoky flavor. - Pros: - Rich, smoky flavor - High heat for searing - Typically more affordable - Cons: - Longer setup and cleanup - Requires practice to control temperature 2. Gas Grills Gas grills are the workhorses of the BBQ world. With just a push of a button, you're ready to grill. - Pros: - Quick and easy to start - Consistent temperature control - Versatile cooking options - Cons: - Less smoky flavor - Can be more expensive 3. Electric Grills Perfect for apartment dwellers or those with limited outdoor space, electric grills offer convenience without the need for fuel. - Pros: - Easy to use and clean - Safe for indoor use - No need for charcoal or gas - Cons: - Limited smoky flavor - Requires electricity 4. Pellet Grills Pellet grills blend the convenience of gas with the flavor of charcoal, using wood pellets for fuel. - Pros: - Excellent flavor variety - Automated temperature control - Versatile cooking methods - Cons: - More expensive - Requires electricity and pellets Features to Consider When selecting the perfect grill, consider these features to ensure you get the most bang for your buck. Size and Cooking Area How often do you plan to grill, and for how many people? If you're hosting large parties, a grill with a bigger cooking area will save you from spending all day flipping burgers. Material and Durability Stainless steel is a popular choice for its resistance to rust and weather. Cast iron grates offer excellent heat retention, but they require more maintenance. Temperature Control The ability to control temperature is crucial for successful grilling. Look for grills with adjustable vents, dials, or digital controls, depending on the type. Portability If you love camping or tailgating, a portable grill might be just what you need. Look for models with wheels or compact designs for easy transport. Grilling Accessories To become a BBQ master, you need the right tools. Here are some must-have accessories that’ll make your grilling experience a breeze. - Tongs and Spatula: Long-handled to keep your hands safe from the heat. - Grill Brush: Keep your grill grates clean for better-tasting food. - Meat Thermometer: Ensure your meat is cooked to perfection every time. - Grill Cover: Protect your grill from the elements and extend its life. - Chimney Starter (for charcoal grills): A quick and eco-friendly way to light your coals. BBQ Safety Tips You can't enjoy a great BBQ if you're worried about safety. Here’s how to keep your cookouts safe and fun for everyone. - Location, Location, Location: Set up your grill on a flat surface, away from structures and overhanging branches. - Stay Attentive: Never leave your grill unattended while it's in use. - Proper Ventilation: Always grill in well-ventilated areas to avoid carbon monoxide buildup. - Check for Leaks: If you're using a gas grill, regularly inspect hoses and connections for leaks. Grilling Techniques Mastering the art of grilling takes time and practice. Here are a few techniques to elevate your BBQ game. Direct vs. Indirect Grilling - Direct Grilling: This method involves cooking food directly over the heat source, perfect for quick-cooking items like burgers and steaks. - Indirect Grilling: Ideal for larger cuts of meat, this technique involves placing the food away from the heat source, allowing it to cook slowly and evenly. Smoking Adding wood chips to your grill can infuse your food with a delicious smoky flavor. Experiment with different types of wood, such as hickory or apple, to find your favorite. Marinades and Rubs Don’t underestimate the power of a good marinade or rub. These flavor enhancers can turn a simple piece of meat into a mouthwatering masterpiece. FAQs 1. Can I use wood chips on a gas grill? Yes, you can! Simply place the wood chips in a smoker box or wrap them in foil with holes poked in it, and position it over the burner. 2. How do I know when my charcoal is ready? Your charcoal is ready when it’s covered in white ash, usually after 20-30 minutes. Spread the coals evenly for a consistent cooking surface. 3. What's the best way to clean my grill grates? While the grates are still warm, use a grill brush to scrub away any residue. For stubborn buildup, soak the grates in warm, soapy water. 4. Can I grill in the winter? Absolutely! Grilling in winter can be a cozy experience. Just make sure to dress warmly, keep your grill sheltered from wind, and allow extra time for preheating. Conclusion Choosing the right grill can make all the difference in your outdoor cooking adventures. Whether you're a seasoned griller or a newbie, our Outdoor BBQ Grills Guide provides the information you need to make an informed decision. Remember, the best grill for you is the one that fits your lifestyle and grilling aspirations. So, go ahead, fire up that grill, and let the sizzle begin! - Editor's Choice -

Electric BBQ Grill vs. Gas: Which Is Better for Your Backyard?
Tumblr media
Why Choose an Electric BBQ Grill?
An electric BBQ grill offers a lot of advantages, especially if you're looking for a hassle-free and user-friendly grilling experience. Here’s why you might want to choose an electric BBQ grill for your next BBQ session:
1. Ease of Use
One of the most significant benefits of an electric BBQ grill is its simplicity. There’s no need to deal with messy charcoal or complicated gas connections. With an electric grill, all you need to do is plug it in, set the temperature, and you’re ready to cook. It’s a great option for beginners or anyone looking to skip the hassle and get straight to grilling.
2. Safety and Cleanliness
Safety is another area where electric BBQ grills excel. Since there are no open flames or burning charcoal, the risk of fire hazards is greatly reduced. Additionally, electric grills produce less mess. You won’t have to worry about disposing of charcoal ashes or managing gas canisters. It’s a clean, straightforward cooking experience.
3. Perfect for Small Spaces
If you live in an apartment or have a small outdoor space, an outdoor electric BBQ grill is an ideal choice. These grills are compact and easy to store, making them a perfect fit for smaller patios, balconies, or even indoor spaces (with proper ventilation). Many models are portable, so you can easily take them to a park or picnic area for a day out.
4. Environmentally Friendly
Electric BBQ grills are more environmentally friendly than their charcoal BBQ grill counterparts. Since they don’t rely on charcoal, which produces harmful emissions, or gas, which requires fossil fuels, electric grills are a cleaner, greener option for eco-conscious consumers. If you're looking to reduce your environmental impact while still enjoying delicious grilled food, an electric grill is a great choice.
Why Choose a Gas BBQ Grill?
While electric BBQ grills are convenient and environmentally friendly, gas BBQ grills offer their own set of unique benefits. Here's why many grilling enthusiasts continue to choose gas over electric:
1. Flavor
One of the most significant advantages of a gas BBQ grill is the flavor. Gas grills are capable of reaching higher temperatures, which allows for better searing of meat and a crispier exterior. This high heat also creates that signature smoky BBQ flavor that many grilling enthusiasts love. If you’re after the authentic BBQ taste, a gas BBQ grill is hard to beat.
2. Quick Setup and Cooking
Gas BBQ grills are known for their quick setup. Unlike charcoal BBQ grills, which require time to heat up, gas grills can be ready to cook in a matter of minutes. This makes them ideal for people who want to get grilling quickly, especially when hosting a BBQ party or family gathering.
3. Larger Cooking Surface
For larger families or big backyard gatherings, gas BBQ grills often offer a much larger cooking surface than electric BBQ grills. If you need to cook a lot of food at once, a gas grill might be the better choice for you. They also offer multiple burners, allowing you to cook different foods at varying temperatures simultaneously.
4. Portability
Although electric BBQ grills are portable, gas BBQ grills are also available in portable models, making them suitable for tailgating, camping trips, or picnics. Portable gas BBQ grills offer the flexibility of grilling anywhere you can bring a propane tank, so they're a great choice for people who enjoy outdoor adventures.
Electric BBQ Grill vs. Gas BBQ Grill: The Key Differences
When comparing an electric BBQ grill with a gas BBQ grill, the decision often comes down to personal preference and specific grilling needs.
An electric BBQ grill is ideal if you prioritize convenience, safety, and simplicity. It’s a great option for people living in smaller spaces or those looking for a cleaner, more environmentally friendly grilling solution. The ease of use and lack of mess make it a perfect choice for beginners or those who want to grill without the fuss.
On the other hand, a gas BBQ grill is the go-to choice for those who want to achieve that classic BBQ flavor. The ability to sear meats at high temperatures, along with the larger cooking surface, makes it perfect for more seasoned grillers and those who love to host big gatherings. If you’re looking for an authentic, smoky flavor and faster cooking, a gas BBQ grill might be the right choice.
Which Grill Is Right for Your Backyard?
Ultimately, the decision between an electric BBQ grill and a gas BBQ grill depends on your priorities. If you value ease of use, safety, and a compact design, an electric BBQ grill is an excellent choice. On the other hand, if you're after that classic BBQ flavor, quick setup, and the ability to cook for larger groups, a gas BBQ grill may be the better fit.
