what’re your top five bandori ships??

Oh my I have been WAITING for someone to ask me this!!!💛💛💛

I ship a LOT of dynamics so it's a little hard to narrow them down but I will do my best!!

1. KokoRinko!!

It's honestly a shame that these two don't have much interaction in canon but I daydream about them all the time!! (⁠๑⁠♡⁠⌓⁠♡⁠๑⁠)

I think they would go through so much character development together. Kokoro would teach Rinko to take life easier and Rinko would teach Kokoro how to slow down her buzzing brain and consider things more carefully! Kokoro being her super extroverted self would also have no problem helping Rinko with moments of social anxiety, like ordering food or asking for help in public!!💛💛

2. HaguKoko!!

I love this ship because it has SO MUCH CONTENT!!! It's a pretty popular ship so there's lots of fan art and it's all soooooo CUTE!!!💛💛💛💛

I also think they're very silly together! Their antics always make me giggle!

3. Poly PoPiPa!!

When I first saw the Bandori anime, I immediately decided all of the girls are in love and they all kiss!!💛💛💛

Kasumi is obviously the glue that holds them together and I think she would've had crushes on everyone, which got the ball rolling on their relationship! I also HC that Saaya initially had a crush on Tae, Tae liked Saaya and Rimi, Rimi liked Kasumi and Saaya, and Arisa had a crush on Kasumi and Tae!

I think their relationship fluctuates from time to time where the girls change who they're primarily dating but they're in a closed quint!

4. NanaRui!!

I love these two because I HC both as autistic and I think they would bond over that a lot!! I love how Nanami teases Rui for being robotic sometimes, it's so cute!! Another thing the girls share is having amazing skill that they feel they can't use in their fullest potential due to obstacles in their way! With Rui it was losing a competition and Nanami hid her artistic talent out of shame of being different! When looking deeper than their external traits, the two girls have SO MUCH in common!!💛💛💛

5. ChisaAyaMaya!!

Sometimes people find ChisaMaya to be controversial because of Pasupa's first band story but I think with the way they all developed as characters and the addition of Aya's genuine sweetness, they would all make a great couple!!💛💛

Chisato definitely plays a big role in boosting Aya and Maya's confidence while they all discover their truest selves! I think Maya first fell in love with Aya, who shared the same feelings but was too nervous to admit them! Chisato brought them together by confessing to both of them, which is when Maya and Aya both confess to each other too! Aya and Maya make Chisato confront a lot of her flaws and insecurities, and through their relationship she becomes an ever better version of herself!! 💛💛💛

Just to indulge in silly curiosity...favourite Garupa ships?

i don't think i ship them romantically, but here's some of my favourite dynamics:

anon and soyo is classic, but i enjoy the hypothetical pairing of anon and taki a lot more! something about how they both grind on each other but obviously have an unspoken love towards one another as bandmates, really speaks out to me

i've only read a few hhw stories but i love the dynamic between misaki and kokoro (wow can you tell??). they're comfortable and safe together

speaking of safe, here's a "safe" option: kasumi and arisa, the two's trust and love of each other is the foundation on which the entire anime series is predicated upon, i think. they're a classic boke/tsukkomi pair and it's easy to like them purely because of their comedic dynamic, they land on each other really easily, and because of that they're also very fun to pair up together (romantically or not, you pick). i just think it's nice :)

and like, they only heard the sounds of someone cutting a tree and she was immediately worried that Arisa was in trouble and ran to her rescue

and you gotta remember that Kasumi doesn't do good with scary stuff/ scenarios.

If they were all together, Kasumi would've probably just ran away like she did with the rest of popipa in episode 2 of Garupa Pico Fever when they were hearing scary sounds in the woods

But no, she ran towards the sound even though it could be dangerous, just cause Arisa might've been in trouble

Because I'm a bitch who can't catch a break, I've given in to sleep deprivation and my intrusive thoughts again and started writing a SayoRin AU fic! I originally wanted to finish writing the entire story before publishing each chapter bit by bit, but I needed that little boost of motivation so I decided to release chapter 1 first. I've actually drafted out almost the entire fic at this point and I'm more than halfway through the actual story, so I should be on track to finish this fic before real life commitments take over.

I have a few ships I quite like in Bandori (actually I'm sort of a multishipper and am fond of any ship dynamic that's cute), but SayoRin has a special place in my heart. Perhaps it's because I love both Sayo and Rinko individually as characters and see facets of my own personality in the both of them, so writing about them comes pretty naturally for me. Also, seeing them being soft with each other in canon material and in fanfics just makes me melt, ugh why are they so cute

Ever since I watched It's MyGo!!!! and writing fics again, I started looking into the Bandori ao3 tag again and that's when the desire to write something for SayoRin again hit me. However, because I've been so far removed from the Bandori story canon for the past few years (both for Roselia's band story and also all Garupa event stories involving Sayo/Rinko), it was difficult for me to write something within the canon Bandori universe, which was why I turned to an AU as a lazy person's alternative haha. I think I did an okay job with writing them in-character so far, despite not playing the game for years :P

Also, I suck at coming up with titles so forgive this cringey ass title, it's related to their names and it'll all come together at the end of the story (I hope)

Yukiran seems to be a rare ship! How do you think they would react when they find out they’ve admired each other under all that rivalry?

I always thought that YukiRan was a more popular ship! I remember seeing a lot of it around when Garupa first came out, anyway. Here’s a helping of headcanons!

•  While Yukina and Ran have an intense rivalry, they’re both respectful of each other. They’ve always been keen to each other’s similarities. Each of them knows the other is steadfast in their passion for music, and seeing the other push forward with their band inspires them to do the same. 

•  For a long time, they avoided each other, both out of respect for their rivalry and their difficulties communicating. After their joint concert, they became more comfortable with each other and started chatting more often. Not just about their bands any more, but about other things, the kinds of things they would chat with acquaintances about. That was when they really came to know each other’s similarities, which developed into a deeper sort of kinship.

•  Romantic feeling took much longer to develop, not until Yukina’s graduation drew closer. They met up at CiRCLE for what was meant to be an individual practice session that turned into a joint one. After assessing each other’s vocals, they ended uphaving a conversation about the future of their bands. Yukina was considering disbanding, considering how drastically everyone schedules would change with everyone but Ako going off to university. Ran understood why she would make that decision, but criticized her instead. She said that if Roselia stopped their activities, Afterglow would go on to win Future World Fes and become the most renowned girls’ band in Japan, just to spit in the face of Roselia’s legacy. That encouraged Yukina to rethink her decision and her relationship with Ran.

•  Yukina realized that without Ran pushing her forward, she wouldn’t have reached the heights she had, and wanted to keep Ran in her life even after graduation. They continued to talk after that, often practicing their vocals over video chat together. Whenever they could, they would meet up in person, even putting on joint performances without the rest of their bands if everyone else was busy.

•  This allowed them to come to terms with their feelings for each other, and settle into a relationship built on mutual trust and building each other up. They agreed that even in a relationship, their bands took top priority, but their relationship is what allows their bands to reach the greatest of heights.

I once found out about the Twitter regarding Kidani's opinion of "the possibility of Bandori girls meeting AASide boys is impossible because he can't see them being together" is a mistranslation on Insta and my assumption is contextually, the reason why he thinks Bandori girls can't meet AASide boys is because AASide boys are older and are no-no to pair with the girls (like Felix is in his 30s), while the girls are minors, which sounds plausible. But, the fandom basically twist his word and turned it into "dOn'T sHiP bAnDoRi giRLs wiTh aAsiDe bOyS bEcAusE iT rUinEd oUr sHiPs!!!!!" which is completely dumb. It's not ruining your ships, Bandori fans. It's because some AASide boys are too old to be shipped with the girls because they're in college, while Bandori girls are highschoolers. I think it would be much better if their relationship between them were just friends and platonic instead of romantic, but since shipping culture are too romance-crazed, that's 100% doubtful.

yeah i think theres a lot of misinterpretations about what kidani said in regards to garupa and Boys... he just said he didnt want to see them being shipped with boys which is what it is but like... idk if THAT is the ONLY reason why garupa and aaside exist so separately hmm

as a bothdori enjoyer yeah its not about wanting to ship 18-30 y/o guys with 13-18 y/o girls its just about friends
