I once saw someone say that Claude didn't actually flame a border war between Sreng and Faerghus in Hopes because Sreng and Faerghus already hated each other, which somehow negates Claude’s active prodding of Sreng to attack Faerghus.
People will just make shit up or say the dumbest shit ever to defend Hope's writing of Claude, which is crazy because I could swear almost no one ever came to bat for Claude this much in 3H where he has such better writing in general (it could still be a lot better but it IS a lot better than whatever the hell Hopes did)
LMAOOOOO that's hilarious actually
"Jin and Torna didn't actually flame a war between Uraya and Mor Ardain by destroying troops on Temperantia because the two countries already hated each other"
"Quan Chi didn't actually flame a murderous rivarly between Scorpion and Subzero by killing Scorpion's family because their two clans already hated each other"
"Anankos didn't actually flame a grander war between Nohr and Hoshido by killing Mikoto and forcing Garon to call an invasion because the two countries already hated each other"
"Person X didn't actually flame a battle between Person Y and Person Z by hurting Person Z's brother and making it look like Person Y did it, because Person Y and Person Z already hated each other"
Like are these people for real? Hopes Claude did that shit and it sucked and was bad, those guys are deeply unserious

I mean… fire emblem shouldn't be taking in consideration when making points about representing real world issues or using it as a crutch for sociopolitical arguments irl. One of the best examples in this franchise of "culture bias" and "covet bigotry" is Fates, where Hoshido is too pure, too good, and Nohr is the bad, bad, evil barbaric nation. And this goes so far as to make birthright's story a more watered down version of blue units vs red units story from shadow dragon.
In 3H now the good, pure nation is Fodlan, and those who surround it are either filler to make the worldmap look prettier, or barbarians that like to hunt the good guys for sport (Almyra and Sreng, and possibly Dagda), with Brigid being a repetition of the noble savage trope. Just bc there's a poc guy that wants to unite people and get rid of prejudice in story, doesn't mean that the developpers agree to that or support that.
(Also, let's not talk about Hopes and how Claude's altruistic dream turns out to be unifying two different nations and make the cohabit by force with him as sole leader of both. AKA the typical fire emblem trope of uniting different countries under one ruler, something that's not progressive in the slightest)
Mmh,
Speaking on eggshells here because Fates isn't really my area of expertise, but basically, iirc you can thank Pat for scrubbing the worst of Hoshido!
Fates' best route is Revelation (rip izana) where both countries accept to set aside their differences to work together, meaning that, obviously, Hoshido wasn't only "blue unit land" against Nohr's "red units".
Even through Birthrout, you can catch here'n'there, even in the Pat version!, how Hoshido isn't roses'n'daisies, it's the land where Mikoto takes her niece "hostage" ffs as a measure against Corn's kidnapping (you can't tell me she never guessed Azura was Arete's kid!), where Ryoma (idk if you were the same anon as back then?) as the crown prince ignores the plight of the nohrians and why they were attacking Hoshido because life in Nohr sucks and they're starving (idk if, much like the Leonster/Thracia conflict, Hoshido refused to trade with them and let them starve instead), the fuckery with Mokushu and Shura's backstory, or Hoshido being Misogyny Land (tm).
Heck Birthrout has you march on Nohr's capital city iirc, and fight in the streets - it's in Birthrout that Corn's obsession with taking revenge/defeating Garon leads to Elise' death - so it's not the the "blue unit waltz on red unit lands, routs the enemy and calls a day".
So I don't think the Fates writers really wanted to push the "pure unproblematic land" card with Hoshido compared to Nohr, but rather depict them as both flawed - in different ways - and needing to work together.
Now, I wouldn't say the nations of Fodlan are good compared to the rest of the filler nations that make up this verse's world - after all it's Adrestia who starts hostilities against Dagda'n'Brigid and Adrestia who most recently flattened Brigid and made it its vassal! - but in a sense you're right calling them filler, the FE series in general don't spend a lot of time to depict nations in general, they're just "the place character X is from" and for all of its, hm, reknown writting, Fodlan is following the trend, Albinea is no less different than Cheve (wait, we have one map set in Cheve! kill that) so bar flavor text, they're effectively just "filler".
I disagree about Sreng and Almyra being filler though, if Sreng could be seen as a ref to the Thracia situation or Norh/Hoshido fight for ressources, Almyra?
Is basically Verdane all over again - with the dubious honor of having a Verdanite Lord who, unlike Jamke has some relevance to the plot bar his introduction, but most important, seems to appreciate and want to emulate/import the values/methods of his country to the cast/main plot.
Can you imagine FE4 where Jamke suggests to kidnap Deevtar to seduce lure Andrei in a trap and rekt him?
Of course not.
Just bc there's a poc guy that wants to unite people and get rid of prejudice in story, doesn't mean that the developpers agree to that or support that.
I guess they agreed with the "get rid of prejudice without dealing with the dragon in the room" idea, but the main issue I mentionned and talked about in the other anon reply was the how, and what, doylist wise, it conveys.
"I'll unite people and get rid of prejudice by busting open your country to my people who are as prejudiced as you supposedly are, and I will bring you new values"
That's... not a good way to bring people together lol.
Even in FE16 I found Claude and Almyra's writing a bit odd : why asking Timmy first to stop shunning Bob when Timmy started to avoid Bob because Bob keeps on stealing his lunch money? Shouldn't you ask Bob first to, uh, not be an ass?
In Nopes?
Bob ruins Timmy's house, hits Timmy's toddler sister in the face and still steals his lunch money - but now, Bob has the nerve to tell Timmy that he's doing this to "help" him.
Also, let's not talk about Hopes and how Claude's altruistic dream turns out to be unifying two different nations and make the cohabit by force with him as sole leader of both. AKA the typical fire emblem trope of uniting different countries under one ruler, something that's not progressive in the slightest
Hmmm,
I don't know if you played the older games (FE1 to FE10), but as far as I remember, bar Archanea verse, we have different rulers for each countries and the world is never an unified entity -
And even then, Marth doesn't unify the world by making people "cohabit by force", as forced as it is, everyone gives him their crown.
Sanaki doesn't tell Elincia to suck it as she annexes Crimea in FE10, ditto with Innes and Joshua, or Ced and Ares in Jugdral... I can see Leif's unification of Thracia falling under that criteria, but even then, it's not so much by force than Travant making suicide by cop because he wanted the peninsula to be united and understood he couldn't be the one to do it.
Uniting the continent by force is, on the contrary, what red emperors do, and in traditional FE games, red emperors are defeated.
To return to your main point :
I mean… fire emblem shouldn't be taking in consideration when making points about representing real world issues or using it as a crutch for sociopolitical arguments irl.
Of course, and I totally agree!
The FE series has always been, as its core, a series where a "rightful ruler" returns home to rule "rightfuly" and better than its predecessors, by acknowledging what they did wrong and what they can do now.
That being said, a game is never written in a vacuum : that's the doylist side of various discussions : "What were the devs thinking, was what their reasoning when they decided to make the game this way?"
In 2004, real world persons believed that putting Devdan in their game was okay.
You can give them some flak because different cultural references between Japan and the US world (hell, western world at this rate because damn if Devdan hit "international" racist stereotypes boxes!) - and yet, can you really suppose the devs wouldn't have known, in 2004, that those stereotypes are harmful to real life people and Devdan was basically an insult?
But Devdan was just a living (as much as a fictional character can be alive, but you catch my drift lol) stereotype, the issue was just with Devdan existing.
It was 2004, 15 years later, we expect of IS - not your backwater company! - to never ever fall in the same pits, right?
(well, we had FE13 with the Feroxi main characters who love to fight being dark skinned... so the Devdan dev might still have been there :/ )
FE Fodlan, let it be for design or even names, took some inspiration from RL (it was funny upon release to catch all those links and nods!), and while i appreciated the aesthetic, it was bound to create another "Devdan" issue.
You have Almyra, designed with several RL inspirations (they weren't being subtle with Claude's battalion called the Immortals lol), from design (Claude's clothes and braids!) to units (mounted archers!) to, well, names.
Okay, in itself, it's nothing as insulting as Devdan's existence. But taken with the context?
The devs wrote that Fodlan's aesthetic was supposed to be the Age of Discoveries (1500s and onwards?) so yes, during that Age, you had people who were prejudiced as fuck against people from other lands/different cultures.
But in 2019, we know that those prejudices were full of shit, and either fueled by ignorance, or just, the need to find a good "excuse" to get new lands/manpower/ressources.
Maybe the devs wanted to showcase this part of history : depict the characters being prejudiced against "foreigners" and have them later learn that their prejudice was unfounded !
But... they took the inverse path
Hilda's racist stereotypes? They're shown to be....
True through both games!
As you put it, Almyra are the "barbarians" who : attack the land the characters are from when they're at their weakest, for no reason than to get a good fight - even if it means dying which in turns create several orphans they don't give a fuck about - pillage and "rampage" in cities, let their allies die after accepting a "mutual support" alliance with them, and ultimately rave and scream at their "outdated" values and how you're going to bring them yours.
"You see those people who were derided as savages and barbarians back then in RL - and still are in some parts of the world because the early 2000s happened and in general because racism exists? - Well I'm going to base my fantasy "token barbarian country who is untrustworthy and backstabs everyone" based on them!"
:/
I know you can't compare tomatoes to watermelons, but the Baten Kaitos franchise also has a nation who's, more or less, full of assholes, racists and imperialist pieces of shit. But the devs in those games designed each island/country from scratch, there is no nation that immediately calls back to "RL country X or culture Y"!
you can make a farfetched point about the people wearing ceremonial masks and having totems being a mix of several RL inspirations or at least being a call back to them... but they're part of the most OP people of that universe!
So why? Why, doylist wise, FE Fodlan designed with care - you can't tell me those costumes and outfits were designed in 10 minutes! - Almyra and its characters... only to have them act out as what an english book from the 1780s depicted "oriental" people ?
Unlike Devdan, the racism doesn't ooze out from the way the characters/country was designed, but what role they fit in the story.
It's not a sociopolitical commentary or representing real world but more like another jab at IS for being as prejudiced against non western/japanese cultures and civilisations as they were when FE4 was released, which is problematic in 2019/2022.
(and then you have Square Enix giving us Hyzante in Triangle Strategy, which is even more in your face with the dubious parallels)
#anon#replies#fandom woes#IS is part of the fandom as the creators of the games lol#I mentionned it in the other reply#but while only have dungeons and aesthetics#the Golden Sun Saga had places inspired by real world cultures and civilisations and never#put one under the bus to act as the token barbarians#hell the antagonists from the first game are a tribe of people who can turn into dragons#and the main antagonist is a giant rock with an eyeball#in the third opus we have aliens#but Kibombo? AO3 Tag Game Thing
Tagged by @astoriacolumnstaircase. Thank you!
How many fandoms have you written for?
Ever? I mean my first ever was a Sound of Music sequel that I wrote in kindergarten. But if you mean like posted online, five. Chronologically: Phantom of the Opera, BloodRayne, Final Fantasy X, Fire Emblem Fates, and Critical Role. On AO3 right now though I only have FE and CR because some of those were before I came to AO3 and I also have a(n admittedly bad) habit of destroying old or unfinished works that I don’t think I’m going to come back to. :\ (RIP The Heretic’s Daughter, you just never found your audience.)
What’s your favorite fic on your Ao3?
The one I’m most excited about is A Long Road Home, although it’s a comic that I’m crossposting to there from tumblr. Definitely the one that’s taking the highest level of dedication and the one with upcoming plot developments that I’m most eager to get to!! I’ve been really happy about how kindly it’s been received by the fandom and how many people seem to be enjoying it. I am too.
Although I’ve kind of moved on from the fandom I’m still pretty proud of Nohrian Lullaby, because it’s a complete novel (with illustrations!). While it stands on its own it was however the first part of a planned trilogy but now that I’ve gotten into Critical Role I think I’d have a hard time going back to it, haha. It was Fire Emblem’s voice cast that led me to CR but now that I’ve gotten to know them all I feel like I’d have a hard time approaching e.g. King Garon and Queen Mikoto with the solemnity they have in the game knowing now what Travis and Marisha are like at the table. XD
Have you posted elsewhere? If yes, which of those fics is your favorite?
I’m most proud of Guardian (another comic) because that was a huge undertaking and in order to do it I had to forcibly overcome the SEVERE executive dysfunction that had been hindering me for my entire life. (Absolutely trashed my school performance and for some reason none of the adults around me seemed to think that this might be a symptom of a larger problem? I was just repeatedly told “But youre smart! You just need to work harder!” and could not figure out why I just couldn’t.) But when I started working on that and was kind of floundering at the beginning having a hard time keeping up with it, I told myself that if I wanted to see it exist in the world, then I had to be the one to create it, and basically brute-forced myself out of a lifetime habit of destructive procrastination. I taught myself to break a huge task (200+ page comic) into smaller tasks (one page at a time) and set a schedule to make that workable (day one sketch, day two lineart, and so on). And now I sincerely don’t allow myself to procrastinate anymore. If I’m given a task to do I know to get it done ASAP before it starts to seem unconquerably huge and that is honestly as much as an accomplishment as the comic itself. It’s still a struggle but it has improved the quality of my life by a lot. (Still have not received diagnosis or treatment for whatever is causing the executive dysfunction! But at least I’ve managed to wrestle that beast to the ground and am continuing to hold it there.)
How many bookmarks do you have on AO3?
I only recently figured out what they are for, haha, so 6.
How many unread comments do you have?
None! See the above procrastination thing. I have already replied to them all. :)
Any subscriptions?
About as many as the bookmarks. Currently I’m most looking forward to updates from Consequences of a Bleeding Heart and The Madness from the Salt. :D
Any favorite tags?
Laudna & Imogen Temult, Laudna/Imogen Temult, and within those I tend to comb through for AUs with an interesting premise. (Judging by my bookmarks my definition of “interesting” seems to trend towards “vampires” haha.)
I don’t know if she’s still active on tumblr but I’m gonna tag @auronlu bc she has had a very respectable fic writing career! (Feel free to ignore this, however.)

A/N: For the @invinciblezine Calamity’s Advent Zine! I’m not 100% happy about how this ended up. I always wanted to write a dark route, Corrin turns into a tyrant after a scene in the Conquest route and instead I wrote more of Corrin’s slowly collapsing state throughout the conquest route. XD Maybe I’ll revisit that idea in the future.
…
…
…
…
Corrin knew what it felt like for the world to turn upside down, to lose her footing and stumble when nothing was as it should be. From the moment she’d left the Northern Fortress, it was a feeling she’d felt constantly. After all, everything she’d known was a lie. Her family couldn’t be called hers, Nohr had never been her home, and even her body wasn’t entirely human.
After all of that, she’d thought it was impossible to get surprised anymore. That there was nothing left that could shock her to her core. That wasn’t the case, sadly. Somewhere above her, the gods were laughing. Standing at the lake’s edge, she grabbed Azura’s shoulder for stability. “What?”
“We have to kill Garon,” Azura repeated softly, her eyes downcast. In the moonlight, she looked ethereal, her gossamer dress silver. Nothing about her felt solid, neither her words nor her skin, and Corrin tightened her grip unconsciously. Maybe she could chalk this up as a dream. “And the only way to prove his true identity—”
“Is to put him on Hoshido’s throne,” Corrin finished hollowly, turning away to stare at the lake. A gentle fog covered most of the water, and the parts closest to her reflected the endless stars. In another time, she’d have stared at the night sky with her family, chatting happily. Now she was faced with the choice of tearing them apart. Taking a deep breath, she sat down on the dewy grass and tried to calm her racing heart. “He really is a demon?”
“Yes.” Azura gracefully knelt beside her, tucking her skirt under her knees as she sat on the damp ground.
It’ll stain, Corrin thought idly. Jacob will be furious. Life used to be so simple in the Northern Fortress, when all she’d wanted was to prove she was good enough for Garon so she could finally join her siblings. When she’d only had one set of family, and not two. Xander had warned her once that she might not be ready for the outside world, that it was crueler than she could imagine locked away.
He’d been right. She wasn’t ready. She never had been. Yet it was too late to go back. Curling her hands into the dirt, she quietly muttered, “You know, I should have known he wasn’t my father.”
Azura rested her hand on top of hers, gently urging her to continue. “How could you?”
“I mean…” Corrin cracked a lopsided smile, leaning back to stare at the moon. “What sort of father keeps their child locked away? And it couldn’t have been strength or age—Elise wasn’t trapped with me. But I wanted to believe.” Her voice cracked. “I wanted to belong.”
Azura clasped her hands to her chest, looking down at the grass, at the moonlight glinting off the dewdrops. “It’s hard to belong. I don’t think I ever have.”
From the moment they’d met, Corrin had known they were kindred spirits. She just hadn’t realized how much. Corrin held up a hand above her, studying it. “We don’t even look the same, but then again…no one really looks like Garon.”
“He isn’t what he used to be,” Azura pointed out sadly. There was a trace of familiarity in her tone and Corrin wondered how deep it ran. “He’s…changed much.”
“That’s what Xander says too, but…” Corrin glanced at Azura. She was beautiful, bathed in the moonlight. It wasn’t just her—all of her siblings were. Camilla was gorgeous, Elise cute, Leo and Xander handsome in wildly different ways. No matter how much she looked at them, she couldn’t find Garon in them, couldn’t find his cruelty in their words or actions. The reverse also held true. She couldn’t find their kindness in Garon, couldn’t find their justice in his actions. “Do you take after your mother?”
Azura’s eyes widen before a sad smile crosses her face. “I’ve been told we look alike. I can’t remember her well.”
“Me neither.” Corrin chuckled mirthlessly, leaning forward to peer at her reflection in the glasslike water. There was nothing of Mikoto in her hair, her eyes, her frame. Maybe she took after her father, but she didn’t resemble her Hoshido siblings in the slightest. She remembered Mikoto’s arms around her, her last ragged whisper, and she bit back a sob. “And now I never will.”
She felt untethered, disconnected from the world. Even for all her years caged, she’d never felt as lost as she did now.
“You know, you’re lucky,” Azura murmured, squeezing Corrin’s hand. When she looked back in askance, Azura continued, “Camilla, Xander—your siblings, they truly care for you. Blood-related or not, they love you. And,” she paused, her eyes lowering. “Even in Hoshido, they miss you.”
Corrin turned her hand, squeezing her back. “They miss you too.”
“Maybe, but not as much as they miss you. They’ve spent years waiting for you.” Azura shook her head. There was nothing self-deprecating about her tone, only honest truth, and that was what made it sting the most. That someone as amazing as Azura thought like that about herself. “Even now, it’s you they’re fighting for.”
“They’re fighting for you too. After the war—” Corrin cut herself, realization sinking in. “The Hoshido throne. We have to conquer Hoshido.” She looked at Azura, pained. “We have to fight them.”
Azura nodded, averting her eyes. She must have realized this before. “We have to defeat them.”
Corrin gazed at the lake once more. Ryoma was proud, Takumi bitter, and Hinoka fearless. There was a chance she could convince Sakura to surrender, but the other three—they wouldn’t back down without a fight. Especially now that Corrin had slapped their hand away, had rejected their kindness and love for Nohr. “They might die.”
Azura said nothing. Her nails dug into Corrin’s skin.
“I…” Corrin’s heart was in her throat, her eyes already watery. Could she kill them? She had to, didn’t she? It was the only way she could get Garon on the throne, the only way she could kill him and bring peace. Her chest throbbed, her palms sweaty.
Xander had warned her, so long ago, that she had to be tough to survive outside. She just hadn’t realized how tough.
Corrin closed her eyes. Ryoma’s grip had been firm, but gentle. Hinoka had a playful, competitive streak. Takumi had been bitter, so terribly angry and bitter, but in time, in time he might have come to accept her. To love her. Just like Sakura, who despite her shyness, had made sure Corrin felt welcome.
Mikoto’s body had rapidly cooled in her arms after the explosion, her words so kind and forgiving. Corrin would remember that sensation for the rest of her life. Now, she’d have to remember Ryoma, remember Hinoka and Takumi and every other Hoshidan she would have to kill in this war. This wasn’t like with Ice Tribe’s rebellion or Garon’s order to kill all dancers. All of Leo’s tricks couldn’t change the truth here: one way or another, people would die.
“I have to conquer Hoshido,” she uttered softly, steeling herself. She wondered how many times a person could face heartbreak before they crumble, just how many pieces a heart can shatter into before it can’t be put back together again. “Maybe I’m more like Garon than I thought, using and killing others to get what I want. A tyrant.”
“You’re not,” Azura defended, shaking her head.
“I might have to kill my siblings.” Corrin paused, before correcting, “Your siblings.”
“They were never mine to begin with,” Azura replied sadly, her hand curling on her chest. “Besides…I was forced out of Hoshido, remember? I doubt they want me back.”
Corrin frowned, not buying a word of it. If Azura could only realize how they had looked at her, the love that had shown in Ryoma’s, Hinoka’s, and Sakura’s eyes, she wouldn’t say such things. “Even then, you don’t want them to die, do you?”
“Never,” Azura admitted reluctantly, closing her eyes. “Never.”
“Then—”
“But we have to stop Garon.” Azura opened her eyes and clenched her jaw, looking more determined than Corrin had ever seen her. “He’ll only bring ruin to everything he touches…it doesn’t matter what I want, this is more important than that.”
Was it? But Corrin couldn’t say the words. Deep in her heart, she knew it was true. For the sake of Nohr, for the sake of Hoshido, sacrifices had to be made. Her siblings had to be thrown on the altar to protect the country they loved. Curling her hand into a fist, Corrin quietly replied, “I’ll do it, so—”
“Not alone.” Cutting her off, Azura squeezed Corrin’s hand one last time before standing up. “I will not let you walk this path by yourself. Not when I suggested it. The blood on your hands is on mine as well.”
It shouldn’t have sounded as reassuring as it had. Corrin looked up at Azura, feeling like she was stepping on quicksand, and shiver ran up her spine at the path they were taking.
-x-
Corrin silently stared at the plain tent before her, its flap closed. Despite being the royal tactics chamber, it looked as simple as the other tents in the war camp. Unlike Hoshido and its golden tents, there weren’t the resources to make something similar in Nohr. It was hard enough funding the army without tossing in ornamental trinkets. Besides, even if there were, she wasn’t sure they would make it. Xander and Leo had always been of the practical sort. How the tent looked made no difference to what they did inside it.
Elise, on the other hand, would have decorated it with flowers. A smile tugged on her face at the thought and Corrin relaxed slightly before ducking her head and entering. She blinked as her eyes adjusted to the gloom, making out her two brothers standing around a large table. Spread across it was a familiar map, Nohr and Hoshido covered with small figurines indicating the allotment of troops.
Noticing her, Xander turned and gave a solemn smile. As usual, his posture was a little stiff from years of being the crown prince. “You made it.”
“I thought we had to send a search party,” Leo quipped with a teasing smile.
“I wasn’t lost,” Corrin protested, her smile instantly turning into a frown. Her shoulders remained relaxed though; this was familiar, this was safe. This was her family, when all was said and done. As she approached them, she pointed at Leo’s collar. “And your collar is inside out.”
“Seriously?” Leo swore softly under his breath as he tugged on his cape. He was lucky Camilla wasn’t around to hear that. “Every. Damn. Time.”
Xander chuckled. It sounded rusty, like he was out of practice. “Leo, this happens far too often. Why do you even wear that?”
When Leo merely glowered his reply, Corrin teasingly guessed, “Aesthetic?”
“No.” Immediately, Leo snorted indignantly, and she had a feeling she’d guessed right. He scowled at her. “Nothing as frivolous as that. It is for decorum.”
“Decorum, huh?” Corrin stretched out the word, a mocking grin on her face.
“Have Niles assist you, at least,” Xander suggested, ending the discussion before it turned into an argument. He had always been diplomatic like that. “Or Odin, if he is capable.”
“I feel like that’d make it worse,” she muttered under her breath. If there was something both sets of her siblings shared it common, it was picking really strange retainers. Hinoka’s were especially odd, but Leo’s weren’t far behind. Niles never ceased his dark humour and teasing, and Odin, well, he often felt out of touch with reality.
“Nonsense, I can manage something as simple as this myself,” Leo refuted, adjusting his cape, right-collar out now. His ears were red, a tell-tale sign of embarrassment he could never hide. Turning back to the table, he gestured at the pieces, “Anyways, we have more important matters to discuss.”
Corrin snorted at the obvious topic change. Xander accepted it gracefully, as usual. Walking around the table, he leaned forward and studied the troops. “Our upcoming battle. They are all in their current locations?”
“As of this morning’s update,” Leo confirmed, idly picking up a wooden knight. He rolled it on his hand. “For the most part, we are holding them in check. We need to add extra pressure to push them back.”
The smile dropped from her face as Corrin glanced down at the table. The map was overrun with battalions. She swallowed, her heart beating in her ears. Each piece represented a hundred. Were there even that many people in Nohr? In Hoshido? A single move could alter the fate of thousands.
“We seem to be evenly matched, which is better than I expected considering their upper hand in numbers, resources, and location.” Xander frowned, his brow knitting as he examined the battle lines.
“But not in strength,” Leo added, smirking cockily.
“Don’t get too overconfident,” Xander warned, picking up a soldier that was taller than the others. “There are Hoshidans who can match us blow for blow; it will not be as simple as you think.”
Corrin stared at the soldier, realization dawning. “Is that Ryoma?”
“We needed a way to distinguish the Hoshido royal family.” Xander pointed at three points on the board where there was an archer, a Pegasus knight, and priestess, all of which were taller than the others of their class. It was her entire family in a wooden block set.
Leo set down his soldier and picked up Takumi. He snorted inelegantly. “This one’s just an archer, I highly doubt he’s a threat.”
“Leo.” Xander sighed, rubbing his forehead. “I’m just a swordsman. A weapon can be deadly in the right hands.”
“There is nothing just about you,” Leo retorted, setting the piece down. “Though you might be right. We just don’t have enough information on them.”
“Information…” Corrin repeated, picking up Sakura and rolling the piece in her hand. If they had enough information, could they clear the battle without killing? It was a possibility, however slim. Noticing the silence around her, she looked up and realized they were staring at her expectantly. Surprised, she stepped back. “Me?”
“Well, you were with them for a while,” Leo pointed out, rolling his eyes. “You know more than we do.”
“The information would be very helpful, though I understand if it’s too hard for you right now,” Xander added supportively, walking around to squeeze her shoulder. It was rare for him to play brother and not crown prince.
“Quit babying her.” Despite his harsh words, Leo didn’t push her. Instead, he glanced at the tent entrance. “Maybe Azura could help—”
“I can do it,” Corrin blurted out immediately. Azura couldn’t be dragged into this any deeper than she already was. The betrayal would be less, coming from her lips rather than Azura’s. It would still be a betrayal, nonetheless. Her heart sank, remembering their kindness and how she was trampling on it now.
Xander hummed approvingly. “Good.”
-x-
“Corrin!” Hinoka gasped, the Yato buried hilt-deep into her chest. Blood dripped down her chest, splattering darkly against the earth. “Why?”
Corrin woke up, drenched in sweat. That was a dream. Only a dream. There was a sticky sensation on her hands, the false memory of Hinoka’s blood, and she wiped them off on her blanket. The feeling wouldn’t leave, even though it wasn’t real. It couldn’t be real. It had only been a dream.
“Shit.” She covered her eyes with the back of her hand, breathing heavily as she tried to get her bearings. Every night, it was one sibling or the other. Her hands were stained red, her sword piercing their body, and a single accusatory why lingered in the air before she woke. A dream that felt all too real. She could only hope that she hadn’t gained foresight.
There would be no sleeping further tonight. Her heart calmed and Corrin slipped out of her tent quietly. She didn’t want Jakob to notice her absence; only one of them had to lose their sleep. Around her was a tent city, small lanterns here and there giving her the vague shape of the army’s campground. It was a dark, moonless night. Everyone else was asleep, as they should be.
Quietly, Corrin walked a familiar path through the tents, stopping in front of her friends’ and families’ tents. The layout was the same at every stop, Xander’s planning meticulous. First was Elise’s chambers, Elise silently polishing her armour as she kept watch. By now, Corrin was certain all of the retainers knew of her nightly check-ups. Niles stood guard at Leo’s tent, his lips tugging into a lazy smirk at the sight of her. Laslow was nodding off at Xander’s, no doubt covering for Peri’s shift as well.
Her last stop was Camilla’s tent, with the steadfast Beruka watching from the shadows. Corrin sighed with relief. It had only been a dream, after all.
-x-
Corrin watched as Camilla tightened the straps of her saddle, her delicate arms far stronger than they appeared. Considering the hefty axe she preferred, they had to be. Far above them, Selena was already in the air with her dragon, circling around warily as she kept an eye out for any enemies. Beruka was impossible to spot. It felt like such an ordinary thing, as though her sister was leaving for another scouting mission, when it was anything but.
“Are you sure about this?” Corrin asked softly.
Camilla tightened her strap one last time before gently patting her wyvern’s tough hide. The sun had only set minutes ago and already almost all of its rays were gone, bathing them in darkness. Above them, the stars hadn’t appeared yet, this twilight hour one without any heavenly witnesses. Smiling, she turned to Corrin. “About what, sweetie?”
“This, all of it.” Corrin rubbed her arm, her eyes flickering from Camilla to the ground. Shame crept into her voice. “You don’t have to do this, you know. Beruka can carry it out without you. I can send someone else.”
“My Beruka is very good at assassinations and sneaking around,” Camilla concurred, hand on her hip as she stared up at the sky. There was a gentle smile on her face, as though she was talking about Elise sneaking treats and not her retainer’s capabilities in murder. “However, you gave me this task.” She turned around, stepping toward Corrin and reaching out. Her right-hand caressed Corrin’s cheek. Expression tender, she finished, “And I never turn down anything my darling family asks.”
And that was the crux of it, that the one who’d decided Camilla should go on this assassination mission was Corrin. That the one who had looked at the map, at all the small soldiers, and discovered the quickest way forward was through subterfuge and sabotage was herself. It had been her decision, and yet the consequences wouldn’t occur by her own doing. She covered Camilla’s hand with her own, pained. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine, this isn’t my first assassination.” Camilla chuckled. Her hair flowed in the wind, covering her face. Despite her square shoulders, she sounded tired. “And it won’t be my last. Some battles are better done quietly, when no one can witness them. I don’t mind, as long as I can protect all of you.”
“Camilla…” Corrin hugged her sister and closed her eyes. There had been times, when she had been younger and Camilla had visited for longer than a day, that she’d spot a dragon leaving the castle in the middle of the night. Had it been her sister, even then? Or Jakob or someone else she knew and cared about, someone else whose job it was to clean up secretly. It wasn’t hard to imagine Camilla’s axe in the darkness, coated in thick red liquid. “I won’t—” ask for any other missions, Corrin almost added, cutting herself off before she could lie.
Because there was no way that could be the truth. Not in a war like this. Not when she wanted to minimize casualties. If only she was stronger, better, smarter. If only she wasn’t so weak that she had to rely on her family like this.
“Don’t cry, sweetie.” Camilla pulled herself away, still wearing that gentle expression. It was a mirror image of Mikoto’s and maybe she’d been wrong, maybe Corrin had known what a mother was like all this time. “Just smile for me, that’s all I need.”
Corrin steeled her heart, pushing away her regrets as she smiled. “Come back safely.”
-x-
Pulling a sword out of a body was hard. It took a certain amount of strength and finesse depending on where in the body she stabbed. It was easier in the arms and legs. A single strong yank was enough to free her weapon then. In the torso, however, it took a saw-like motion, it took grunting and sweating and listening to a person choke in their own blood, their hand limply reaching out to grab her.
It was a sensation she wished she didn’t understand. It was a sensation she wished was imprinted in her skin and bones, engraved into her until she could never forget. Corrin knew how blood sprayed when she cut a body, where to strike to minimize the splatter. How it looked when she flicked it off her sword. How long it took a person to die, the wet sound as they tried to take a breath.
It was terrifying, the facts she was learning about the human body.
“Corrin?”
Elise’s voice shook her out of her thoughts and Corrin scanned her surroundings. The battle might be over, but there could be Hoshidan stragglers lurking about, one careless mistake away from striking her down. Around her were damaged houses, windows broken and plumes of smoke escaping crumbling walls. Despite her orders to not endanger civilian life, she still found village after village like this and she could never tell if her soldiers were disobeying her or if Iago had overruled her orders. It didn’t matter. In the end, the result was the same: Hoshidans without a home. Children without parents. Dead bodies strewn across the street and not all of them were soldiers.
Still keeping a tight grip on her sword, Corrin replied, “It’s safe, Elise.”
Behind her, low-heeled shoes clacked against a cobbled road. Elise walked slowly, her staff clutched tightly as she nervously looked at each soldier. Her long, golden braids were speckled with blood, her usually immaculate dress dirty and crinkled. The healing stations must have overflowed today and Corrin felt a pang of sympathy.
“It’s okay, they’re all dead,” Corrin reassured her, approaching to meet her halfway. “You’re safe.”
Elise paled, her skin taking on a sickly shine. “They are?” She looked around her, her eyes sad. “All of them?”
“Yes.” Corrin bit her cheek. Whether it was Nohr or Hoshido, the soldiers were too proud, all too many of them preferring to die on their feet than to surrender and live. “What’re you doing here, Elise?”
“Oh.” Elise’s shoulders sank and she loosened her grip on her staff. “I…I thought I could save someone. Anyone, really.” She looked up at Corrin, giving a troubled smile. “Not just our soldiers.”
Corrin’s eyes widened. “Really?”
“Yeah.” Elise brightened slightly, remembering her past successes. “I actually saved a whole bunch of Hoshido soldiers!” She held out her hands, increasing the gap between them as though to indicate how many. “They might be prisoners, but they’re alive.”
“That’s great, Elise!” Corrin forced a smile as she wrapped her arms around her sister, hugging her tightly.
It was good news. It was great news. And if her heart didn’t feel light at it, if she sensed something dark lurking in the edges of her sight, well, she’d just become more cynical these days.
-x-
Azura was drawn to water in a way she couldn’t entirely explain. It was more than just her connection to that other world or even to her late mother. Lakes were a safe spot, a place she could sit, think, and be a little less afraid. Whenever they camped by a lake, she would invariably end up in front of it, sinking her toes into the shallow banks as she calmed down.
It seemed she wasn’t the only one drawn to it. Azura wasn’t entirely surprised when she spotted Corrin at the lake’s edge, hugging herself as she stared down at the waters. They’d been bumping into one another here more and more these days and Azura found she welcomed the company. There was something comforting about her friend.
“Corrin,” she greeted, standing beside her. Their reflections rippled in the water.
“Azura,” Corrin croaked, eyes red-rimmed.
“What’s wrong?” Immediately, Azura touched Corrin’s arm. Her skin felt cold to the touch—just how long had she been here? And had she always been so pale, so gaunt?
“I…” Corrin averted her gaze, her eyes firmly locked onto the water. She didn’t shy away from Azura’s touch at least. “Elise had been healing Hoshido soldiers lately.” She laughed wetly. “Prisoners of war, but alive.”
Azura could already guess where this was headed. With Garon, it wasn’t hard to know just how he’d react to that news.
“Garon doesn’t take prisoners. Iago had me carry out the execution.” Corrin’s voice grew fainter and fainter and had she always looked this small? “Though none of that surprised me.”
“Oh Corrin.” Azura worried her lip, hesitating before gingerly wrapping an arm around Corrin. She had never been one for physical affection or even good at it, but Corrin had done so much for her and she had to help her friend now. “I’m sorry.”
“The worst part was that it wasn’t as hard as I thought it’d be.” Corrin’s tired voice carried a trace of desperation and she hunched over slightly, curling into herself. “I used to vomit in the bushes and now I just…” She turned to Azura, scared. “Maybe I really am like Garon. A monster.”
“You’re not,” Azura refuted automatically, wrapping both arms around Corrin now to draw her into a proper hug. “You’re not.”
Corrin laughed weakly. “I’m fighting to save Hoshido and Nohr, but all I find are corpses. Just who am I saving?”
You saved me, Azura almost said, but what was one life in comparison to thousands? Whatever Hoshidans survived, they did so out of sight, away from their host army. Azura had always known that the path before them stood on the bodies of innocents, but it was one thing to know it, another to experience it. For all of Corrin’s strengths, it was something impossible to prepare for.
And what lay ahead was even worse. Corrin shuddered in her arms, crying soundlessly. They were days away from the capital, from Takumi, Ryoma, Hinoka, and Sakura. If Corrin could break this deeply from strangers, she would be shattered by the time they reached the throne.
Not for the first time, Azura wished she had some prowess in the battlefield. Her hands weren’t strong enough to take this duty out of Corrin’s. All she had was her voice, her song, and so she hummed softly into the night air, pushing a little power to calm Corrin.
“It’ll be okay,” she sang, stroking Corrin’s back. “I’ll be with you.”
At the very least, she could keep her promise. They were both bloodstained, and if this path led to hell, well, they’d go hand in hand.

The 10 types of people who use S-support in Heroes
"I stick to canon": Geneaology pairings, Marth x Caeda, Bartre x Karla, Sigrun x Tanith (they married in Heroes, okay?). Most of us have done one of this ships once or twice, evenmore if their alts benefit each other through buffs or different weapon types.
"You love my pairing too": Ike x Soren, Eliwood x Ninian, Minerva x Palla, Lyn x Florina, Raven x Lucius. 97% canon, and we'll protect those pairings.
"Their games won't let them marry": Chromdelia (a bit weird but I don't mind), Fates pairings that deserved more than friendship (LGBT+ rights!). Valid, basically.
"My crackship is cool": Camus x Titania, Narcian x Leanne, Joshua x Lucina, Ursula x Beruka. Probably the coolest people, who base the pairings on little details that their characters have in common, or just place them on the same team, and you often smile at their funny ships.
"Protect the BROTP": Hector-Ephraim, Marth-Eliwood, Palla-Marisa, Camilla-Loki, Donnel-Nephenee. Often better than romantic pairings, crossover characters that have cool interactions.
"Awakening family": they often forget about M!Robin x Chrom or F!Robin x Tharja, because they are busy making the whole family. You'll see Chrobin everywhere, often with the Grima version.
"This was my Fates husband": not bad since Fates has more variety in this sense. Some of them will make the family with Kanna and the other child, or do a "____ COME HOME" team. Extra bonus if they do M!Corrin x Niles.
"They are here to kill": Ike x Azura, Veronica x Olivia. Sometimes they end up really shipping them and making cute fanart.
"Lol watch this": Ike x Zelgius, Sigurd x Arvis, Marth x Michalis. We actually laugh when we see these ones.
"Please end my life": Mikoto x Garon, Valter x... Oh, I don't dare say it, you know what I mean.
Anyways, happy Pride Month everyone! I wanted to bring the better ships for every category, in order to wish luck to everyone :)

Corrin x Ryoma
The treehouse seemed silent. Only the muffled cries of said owner was the only sound within the room. She held her pillow tightly to hide the shame of her tears.
And yet, why should she cried? All these revelations of her being raised with a perfect family of siblings that always cared for her was nothing but a lie. Perhaps if she could please King Garon, maybe this wasn’t all out war that she brought onto herself. She never understand why the old king hated her. He respected her fellow Nohrian siblings but never gave her the time of day.
And when she was brought to Hoshido, they were not the offending army that was competing for Nohr. They were pleased to see here. They all had their faults and it felt like a real family and she got to meet her real mother.
Only to die in her hands by a cruel trick by her “father”. When she gladly accepted to fight for Hoshidio, it was an act of defiance towards a family that brought her and a gracious fuck you towards a king that hated her. All she wanted was recognition. She felt a sense of belonging.
Sadly, she did not know that her rebellious attitude would be her downfall. She never understand the truth of wars. Neither side was victorious and it always came with a price. She never assumed her siblings in Nohr would gladly give their lives for a power hungry king. The happy times she was with her fellow siblings were no more. All they cared was the execution of the traitor. Frezy with hate, they assumed her blood will end their father’s bloodlust of power. Talking to them was out of the question. It was survival to be killed or kill them. And all of them fell by her hands.
Rubbing her face in the pillow, Corrin dried her tears. She really didn’t want to go through this. Yet, she had her army ready. It just that seeing her Nohr siblings’ deaths just pushed her to the edge. Is this why Garon never showed her emotion? Was her life meaning to be a weapon towards anyone that wishes to use her? She just wished she had the answers towards those questions and not drowning herself with tears on this night.
A knock on her door as the door quietly opened. Standing in the doorway was her red iron cladded brother. She looked up with her swelling up eyes and noticed his concern.
“Ryoma,” Corrin began.
“Are you alright, Corrin?” Ryoma asked, “I hadn’t seen you wondering the castle and I just felt like everything is alright with you.”
“It’s nothing. I’m just trying to wrap my head over this.”
Understanding the movements and seeing Corrin’s puffy eyes, Ryoma gently wrapped his arms around his fellow sibling in hopes to comfort her.
“I know you may feel terrible for Garon putting you through hell by forcing your Nohrian siblings to fight against you,” Ryoma said, “The casualties of wars always bear a heavy price.”
“Am I a weapon?” Corrin asked.
“No. You feel emotion for fallen members. For you to act like this means you truly made Queen Mikoto and King Sumeragi proud.”
A slight blush, Corrin felt safe. For these words coming out from her eldest brother’s mouth made her felt comfort. It felt like she was at home at Nohr. Ryoma was different to Xander and yet he always knew how to treat her like his equal. Family was family, despite what other people say.
“Thank you Ryoma,” Corrin said. Her tears were finally gone. He really was more than the brother she should wanted, despite knowing the secret. She held on the ring he had given her earlier. For it had given her more meaning than just family in Hoshido.
“You’re welcome,” Ryoma replied, “Our past may be broken, but our future is stronger than iron.”

I wanted to write this last night. But teh tired.

@never-a-damsel-in-distress ( x ):
“Oh…”
Corrine’s expression fell at the question, which caused memories to return to her. Memories of that day in Hoshido’s capital. Memories of having her mother, Queen Mikoto, die in her arms. Because of her naiveté of Garon’s true evils, innocents had suffered. Her little brother…
“Well, if I don’t have the dragonstone, I will lose control. When I first transformed after the death of my mother, I was a feral beast. Friends or foes didn’t matter to me. Everyone was a target. Since there was a chance of that happening again, Azura attuned this dragonstone to me. Because of it, I’m now able to control my powers and keep everyone safe.”
❝ i’m sorry to bring up unpleasant memories. ❞ it’s written clearly on her face. ❝ i was only curious. the laguz from my world... ❞ that feels strange to say. Ike’s world. they call it the world of radiance... he wants to just call it Tellius. ❝ well, even the dragons don’t need a stone to transform. as far as i know, at least. ❞ he’s only met one...
❝ i’m glad Azura was able to help you. it must have been awful to go berserk. ❞

Ryoma x Camilla C-S support rewrite
I FINALLY FINISHED CAMILLA AND RYOMA’S C-S SUPPORT! SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG. IT’S ALL UNDER THE CUT, SO CHECK IT OUT. (I also changed some of the C and B support for those of you that read it before)
C Support
Ryoma: Ah, Lady Camilla.
Camilla: Lord Ryoma, fancy meeting you here.
Ryoma: I must be honest and say it was not a fancy coincidence, but rather interest in getting to know you. Camilla: Oh? I never expected the reserved Hoshidian prince to be so forward.
Ryoma: Th-That…
Camilla: A joke, dear prince! But I am curious what brought you here.
Ryoma: In truth Corrin’s choosing to rebel against the options presented against him/her has shown me that peace between us may only be obtained through understanding.
Camilla: My, that’s quite forward thinking of you Prince Ryoma. I suppose if it for peace and Corrin’s happiness I could lend you some of my time.
Ryoma: Excellent, now where to start…
Camilla: Perhaps our family? It’s the most immediate talking point we could share. Why don’t you start with yours?
Ryoma: Ah, of course! Well, first there is Hinoka--
[fade out]
[fade in]
Ryoma: --Takumi never forgave me for the wasabi incident.
Camilla: Goodness, I never took you as the trickster type.
Ryoma: Well, I don’t dabble in it quite as much as in my youth. Oh? It seems I’ve talked your ear off for quite a while.
Camilla: Has it gotten that late already? And I was just starting to enjoy our talk. We should do this again soon, Prince Ryoma. Don’t you agree?
Ryoma: Of course.
B Support
Camilla: Lord Ryoma, care for another chat?
Ryoma: I would be honored, Lady Camilla.
Camilla: Wonderful! I’ve been racking my brain with stories to tell you.
Ryoma: Well, now you’ve enticed my curiosity.
Camilla: Well, let’s begin with Xander.
[fade out]
[fade in]
Camilla: --I had never seen Leo so red before! It was so adorable I could have just pinched his cheeks.
Ryoma: Ha ha! I would have never thought such things of you Lady Camilla.
Camilla: It was just a happy coincidence I assure you.
Ryoma: I can’t help but be reminded of Queen Mikoto, I will confess.
Camilla: Queen Mikoto? Your… mother?
Ryoma: Yes, your love and care for your siblings reminds me a lot of her.
Camilla: I… erm…
Ryoma: Lady Camilla, is something wrong?
Camilla: I-It’s nothing! My look at the time, I must be going. I promised Elise I would spend time with her today!
Ryoma: Lady Camilla, please wait! Damn, and everything was going so well.
A Support
Ryoma: Lady Camilla.
Camilla: Lord Ryoma?
Ryoma: I wish to ask what it was I said to offend you in such a way in our conversation the other day.
Camilla: You are not at fault Lord Ryoma. I was not insulted, in fact it couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Ryoma: Truly?
Camilla: Yes.
Ryoma: Then why, may I ask, were you so taken aback by my words?
Camilla: …
Camilla: I suppose since we’ve been sharing family stories... I should tell you of my own mother. In short, she was not a kind woman. She paraded me around like a prize to King Garon in hopes to win his affections over his other concubines. To her I was little more than an object she could take out and put away once I served my purpose.
Ryoma: By the Divines...
Camilla: Indeed. Since that time I strived to never allow anyone to feel the pain I felt. Being compared to Queen Mikoto was almost too overwhelming for me to bare. I feared I would fall apart right then.
Ryoma: Forgive me, if I had known such a thing was true I would not have said anything.
Camilla: No need to humble yourself, Lord Ryoma, I meant those words as a compliment. Raising another woman’s children as her own while ruling a country, the more I learn about her the more I see why everyone in Hoshido revered her.
Ryoma: I’m sure she would have been delighted to meet you if she could as well, Camilla.
Camilla: Oh? No ‘Lady’? You’re starting to become quite forward with me aren’t you.
Ryoma: I-I… It was a slip of the tongue.
Camilla: Another joke, Ryoma. Now please, I would love it if you would tell me more about Corrin when he/she was little.
S Support
Camilla: Ryoma.
Ryoma: Camilla, what a nice surprise to see you. Come to chat once more?
Camilla: Yes and no. You see... Ryoma: Hmm? Camilla: Ryoma, when you said I reminded you of Queen Mikoto how did you mean it?
Ryoma: Huh?
Camilla: Do you simply see me as another maternal figure, or am I… more?
Ryoma: M-More? I’m afraid you have lost me.
Camilla: I suppose there is no use hiding my intentions. I admit that during our time together I have grown quite fond of you. And yet, those words have rattled in my mind. I must know, do you see me as a mother or do you feel the same for me as I do you?
Ryoma: Camilla… I… I’m so happy.
Camilla: Huh? Now I’m afraid *you* have lost me.
Ryoma: Of course I feel the same way. When we first began speaking it was for diplomatic reasons, but as time grew on I felt my heart leap every time I saw you. I was simply too afraid of destroying the friendship we had cultivated to speak my true feelings. But, now that I know you feel as I do I wish to give you this.
Camilla: Flowers?
Ryoma: Camellias. In Hoshido these mean several different things depending on their colors. Red for love, yellow for longing, and white for waiting. I wanted you to know that I loved you, and would wait as long as possible for you.
Camilla: Ryoma… Goodness, I… I don’t know what to say!
Ryoma: Hah, it seems for once I have left *you* speechless, my love.
Camilla: It seems so, my love. It seems so...

ons x fe: fates crossover
japan/ons world as nohr and hoshido - the vamps are nohr, the jida is hoshido, and the possessed/demons are valla - shinoa takes to hoshido (birthright), and mika takes to nohr (conquest), hoshido (birthright) or goes alone (revelations) so he is overpowered okay because i like mikayuu also bc technically this is what happens canonically in the anime-manga soooo Mikaela Shindo-Tepes-Hyakuya or whatever/Shinoa Hiiragi (technically, their last names would be Bathory, but last names don't exist in fe so ha i freaking beat the system) as M!Corrin and F!Corrin respectively - yes they can still shapeshift into a dragon - yes they can still use swords/whatever they use - yes they still start out as a nohrian/nohrian noble - no they are not the same as each other - since corrin is a flexible character and ultimately shows no individual personality whatsoever, corrin in whatever gender will be modified to shinoa and mika's personalities - mika can use swords, lances, and axes - shinoa can use swords, lances, and tomes - in their upgraded forms that is; before they use a master seal, they can only use their dragon stone and sword - mika can only be paired with yuu (nyehehehehe it's cause i'm the creator suckeR) but shinoa can be paired with either mitsuba or yuu (because mitsushin is goals hell yeah) yuu as azura - manlier (than azura, but still pretty feminine - more feminine that in the anime/manga) - still sings (ie azura sings on the battlefield to give the units one more turn) - is paired with shinoa/mika (f!corrin vs m!corrin) - child isn't specified? - ^might have to include @califlair 's (tumblr) michirou, aka mikayuu love child - idk what shinoa's child would be, but p michirou still (even though he's mika's lmao) - ^maybe just redesign a child for yuunoa - dunno if i should even have a child for mikayuu - ^think abt it - yuu is a mix of azura/shigure - usually uses a naginata more than anything else, but could use katanas (or even the Nohrian lances) - has tried tomes before, and REALLY REALLY hates them - still as ditsy as his anime/manga counterpart, but smarter and more serious - ^actually pretty bad at conveying emotion, like canon azura - when he sings, his eyes turn blue(?) - he knows abt valla - although he's (sorta) bad at maneuvering in it when he first got there (ie after guren as arete got married, he moved to Nohr to marry the king (Ferid ew) and miraculously had yuu because vallans(?) are magical and the women and men can have children - his color scheme matches azura's, although has some shigure elements in it - A++ at singing and dancing, although he takes up the title 'songstress'(? what is the male version omg) - ^ if paired with either shinoa or mika, he will teach them to dance the vampires (led by Ferid Bathory) as Nohr - the vamps hire mercenaries and then turn them into vampires - they are, as the canon nohr is, cold, dark, and overall oppressive - Ferid's history with Valla is the same as king Garon's in game - ^ie he marries the ons arete, aka guren, and has our favorite yuu-chan - he kills kureto/krul(?)/whoever will be in place of hoshido (ie jida, so maybe not krul...oH SHINYA YEAHHHH) and takes mika or shinoa and drags he or she off to Nohr - mika is okay with ferid but thinks he's annoying, and shinoa outright loves/hates him - crowley is xander, krul is camilla, urd geales is leo, and lest karr is elise - jakob is lucal whesker, felicia is lacus and flora is renee - the nohrians have few retainers: saito (krul), ky luc (urd), gabel parthe (lest), fuola honte (ferid - as iago), noin teta (krul) (, chess belle, horn skuld (1 retainer per person besides crowley and krul - including ferid) - as well as in game, ferid has absolute no trust in you but usually follows his own advice instead of fuola's and thinks of his advisor as a nuisance - the retainers are modified according to their characters in game (ie not much is known about noin, so i can modify her all i want besides the fact that she hates the jida; ie chess and horn are romantically attracted to crowley, so that will stay) - ferid, ulike garon. is not possessed in any way but is just how is, ie evil, sarcastic, sadistic, and petty as well as a perv (lol) - unlike how garon is,he actually really loved guren (and also unlike the game guren didn't like him back - he deSPISED him) - ^ the way ferid is in the present happened because of guren's 'death' (more in the valla section) - crowley is like super bloodthirsty after shinoa/mika chooses hoshido sooooo yeah - lest literally tries to stop crowley in his own weird lest way but, like elise when she tries to persuade xander, is killed in a kamikaze mission, although he doesn't necessarily jump in front of mika/shinoa like elise does to corrin - by the time shinoa/mika reaches ferid, he's literally just bawling his eyes out (since apparently he has time to do that during war) and fuola is not present; ferid cries over a picture of guren (who had previously been thought dead before mika/shinoa went to hoshido but was then found out (lol) and bc of that ferid just hates the hoshidans more so tht does literally nothing but make him a depressed idiot (he's pretty difficult to save though even while depressed so) the JIDA (led by Shinya Hiiragi) as Hoshido - woO MAMA SHINYA ISN'T SO MAMA ANYMORE - ^ jk he still kinda is, but not as much as the fandom makes him out to be and he def not as motherly as mikoto - he's more fatherly lmao - he is in a relationship with guren atm (ur like 'woah he's alive??? wut') - the jida are still in fact called hoshido lmao - they aren't as sunny as the hoshidans because of mahiru... who is currently gonna be anankos for now thanks - Shinya knows where, what, and how to get to valla via guren, because they are a happy couple - please let them be happy - psyche THAT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN - ANYWAY... as shinya finds mika/shinoa/omg wth, he is noT- I SAY, NOT- KILLED but is saved by guren, who is present at the moment - and this is where the feels train starts - guren, sadly, dies, yes, dies, like, the dying that means your life blood is sucked out of your veins and slowly drains you of your soul, body, and mind because yoU ARE DYING GOD JFC - anyway, about that- shinya gets super pissed lol like absolutely agent cheeto 2017 election pissed (@guren lol) but doesn't kick mika/shinoa's butte since he knows it's not his/her fault (kinda like ryouma in game) - as guren starts to die, shinya just takes him back to the castle to a 'special room' – no it's not for the x rated stuff it is a practical vallan regeneration chamber - jesus you have a dirty mind - anyway, of course shinya's (adopted) kids start to hate shinoa/mika cause they're like 'omg you just killed my mom' since they aren't let in on the vallan secret >>>>>>:00000 - sayuri is ryouma, narumi is hinoka, kimizuki is taKUMI YEAHHH, yoichi is sakura because heck yeah – ps there will be yuuyoi/yoiyuu interaction - the retainers (they have so many more than nohr lmao) are: norito goshi (yoichi), mito jujo (sayuri), aoi sangu (guren+shinya's advisor), shigure yukimi (sayuri), aiko aihara (kimizuki), shusaku iwasaki (narumi), and mitsuba sangu (who was technically hired to be shinoa/mika's retainer as a child, but since corrin in game was taken away, she became a strategist and the back-and-forth retainer of kimizuki and yoichi, the bros who usually work in a team (when mika/shinoa come back, she's overjoyed and doesn't mind the nohrian attack on guren) (:0000 jk it's cause she obv remembers mika/shinoa and wants to be his/her retainer ) - the retainers know about guren's 'ability' and were appointed to their retainer to reveal the ability to the noble children (sometime in the very very very very very far future) - kimizuki, like takumi in conquest, does indeed do become possessed by a vallan 9APPARENTLY ITS 'VALLITE') (ie a demon) but only for a short while when he is fighting against mika/shinoa with yoichi in like chapter 28 or something lol - hoWEVER HE DOESN'T DIE LIKE TAKUMI DID OKAY he just like gets calmed by yoichi because unlike takumi, who was fighting solo, kimizuki is with yoichi/sakura so is calmed and coaxed out of pairing with the vallite demon and jUMPING OFF A FREAKING CLIFF Demons/People able to harbor Demons as Valla - okay, this is probably the most complicated out of all of them - Guren, Yuu, AND Shinya are from Valla (as well as the actual demons like kiseki-o and asuramaru and mahiru... sort of) - Kiseki-o and Asura are buddies in Valla (Asura is like.... the hoshidan lilith because of yuu and kiseki-o is the nohrian one; yes i know lilith is not a vallite shut up) – kiseki-o is an evil son of a biatch and is the one who possesses kimizuki/takumi under ferid's request – despite this asura is still chill with him bc they're of the same kind so - Guren is the queen... king of valla and yuu is the princess lmaooooo - contrary to the game, i'm being a rebel and having azura and corrin not be cousins (ie hence why shinya and guren are a couple and not siblings because i don't support incest) - also, i'm also thinkig that guren had yuu before he remarried to ferid, and ferid trying to try his best to impress the son and ultimately failing, only to be happy because oh yuu felt bad and tried his hardest to like ferid - eventually he hated him because he thought that ferid had killed guren after his disappearance, and marched on out to the hoshidan/nohr borders at the bottomless canyon to jump back to valla only to be captured by the hoshians he despised (then found out they weren't so bad) and found his mom again - he still hated ferid – suCK IT FERID - okay, so since vallites are the demons in ons, they can regenerate - slowly but surely (takes like a couple of years, unless ur a nobLE) - after the process of regenerating, their timeline is reset so that they look young, but they age and die just like a regular person would (only they would just look young while dying so) – if that's too hard to grasp, here's an easier summary of it: when a vallite dies at a certain age, they will be able to regenerate if his/her body is preserved well enough. once they regenerate, they will look the same as when they died but will also resume the appropriate amount of years that passed when they were dead – so basically they look young but are actually old - and, again, unlike the game, i am having shinya be vallite, only he is a mixed blood vallite (ie half human half vallite) so his regeneration periods trigger less often than a full vallite would - so he looks older than guren but they're the same age lol (which is probably like 30-40 or something, not around 20 like in ons) - guren's regeneration period takes less time since he is a noble of valla, so it would only take him like 2/4 to 3/4 of a year to regenerate - shinya and guren decided not to tell the royal hoshidan children that they were vallite because that would just blur the lines between what is hoshidan and what is vallite - mahiru ties into this because i will have anankos, yes the evil eye dragon thing, be vallite - my history between mahiru and guren confusing bc wow, shinya is also a dragon but can't activaye his powers because mahiru's the one that got the whole dragon blood blah blah, it took her over and she ended up lethally wounding guren, destroying valla (pretty much), and ultimately ruining her relationship with yuu - the hiiragis and the itchynoses had a long history of continuously switching between love and hate, and in guren's gen, he was mahiru's fiancee and had yuu with her, so yeah yuu's also part dragon like azura is in game – good job memu aka me, myself and i for staying somewhat close to the actual fe: fates storyline - anywhoo, as you know, the bottomless canyon (the first actual battle in fe: fates) is a gateway from valla to the real world so ofc guren went that way when he escaped valla (because the way from like bodies of water was blocked off since mahiru literally destroyed everything) so he had to take that way - he tried to take shinya with him, but shinya insisted it would be important for the noble queen (lol) to go escape to safety first, so, after much persuading, guren went without shinya - then he was captured by nohrians after literally not knowing where he was (since he didn't know about the bottomless canyon and just escaped using instinct) and was taken to ferid, who freaking experienced love at first sight – ferid u bich u don't deserve true love - guren didn't feel the same way but thought he was a nice guy so he married the dude – what a freaking nice guy amirite - going back to shinya, there was one lake in the middle of valla (there really isn't one ingame so) and he escaped using that, since it was a portal that all travelers going to valla went through without passing in through the gates (sincethere was a border gate with guards there) and it led to a lake that was around the perimeter of hoshido, which had tenri hiiragi and kureto hiiragi as king and prince in line (this is the time when ferid is like a teen and hoshido and nohr don't hate each other yet) and shinya was put in place as next prince (since hoshidan was first started by vallites ie the hiiragi line, who was more idealistic and hated the fact that valla was a 'dreamlike' place that you could never talk about (since the rainbow sage (aka a really powerful sorcerer who was literally on no side but did what he thought was right) placed a curse on valla) and preferred the real world to valla – short version of what the hell i just said: the true hoshidans were vallites that hated valla and wanted a more realistic place to live that you could actually talk about without dying - shinya missed guren as kureto died early after tenri's rule and he was placed the king and was appalled to see the guy he missed with disgusting lovesickness in the middle show up after a couple years (ie like two decades yeesh) and at this time, ( i lied guren didn't disappear he was done without consent then was 'killed' by nohrian soldiers (and then regenerated since they didn't really kil him but just made him unconcious) and decided to leave nohr - he thought yuu was happy in nohr (he was - he didn't even mind the cold, dark space until he went to hoshido) so guren left him there - shinya then made preparations for guren after he arrived and after like two years they married (and not just to carry on the hiiragi-ichinose name that was planned) and they adopted children (since vallites can only have one child) - vallite men and women can reproduce - it's kinda like omegaverse, a/b/o, but without the ranks - really only the royals, nobles, and a select few people of the male gender can reproduce - it goes like that for women that can give the men the reproduction system too okay, so now that i've come up with the basic stuff i can get on to the more relationship-building unnecessary things lol support conversations of course, just like what is customary of the fire emblem series, support conversations would probably be present in this crossover the support conversations would have the standard format: C, B, A, S or A+ *A+ os for very good friends - it acts like an S support without actually binding the two people in marriage the supports would go something like this: Mika; in revelations (himself), birthright (hoshido), or conquest (nohr): Yuu (C,B,A, and S), Mitsuba (C,B,A,A+), Lacus (C,B,A,A+), and Renee (C,B,A) are the mains bc they will go with any path (since mitsuba, as mika/shinoa's retainer will be required to follow him/her) in conquest: Ferid (C,B,A), Crowley (C,B,A), Krul (C,B,A,A+), Urd (C,B,A), Lest (C,B,A), Kiseki-O (C,B,A) and all of the nohrian retainers in hoshido: Shinya (C,B,A), Guren (C,B,A), Sayuri (C,B,A), Narumi (C,B,A), Kimizuki (C,B,A,A+), Yoichi (C,B,A,A+), Asuramaru (C,B,A) and all of the hoshidan retainers Shinoa; prettt much whatever mika's supports are for revelations/hoshido and hoshido except her convos with Mitsuba are C,B,A,S Yuu; in revelations/conquest/birthright: Mika (C,B,A,S), Shinoa (C,B,A,S), Guren (C,B,A,A+), Shinya (C,B,A,A+), Asuramaru (C,B,A,S) bc yes yuu can marry his demon lol, Kiseki-O (C,B,A), Sayuri (C,B,A), Narumi (C,B,A,A+), Kimizuki (C,B,A,S), Yoichi (C,B,A,S), Mitsuba (C,B,A,A+), Ferid (C,B,A,S) for those feriyuu shippers lmao, and the nohrian/hoshidan retainers for conquest/birthright respectively Guren; Shinya (C,B,A,S) because technically their supports should already be filled out since they're married but they're not bc fe is odd, Yuu, Mika/Shinoa, Mitsuba (C,B,A), Sayuri (C,B,A), Narumi (C,B,A), Kimizuki (C,B,A), Yoichi (C,B,A), Ferid (C,B,A,A+) for those who really ship guren and ferid you arE WELCOME, Asuramaru (C,B,A), Kiseki-O (C,B,A) and the nohrian retainers Shinya; p much the same as Guren's without any Ferid Ferid; Guren, Yuu, Mika, Krul (C,B,A,A+), Crowley (C,B,A,A+), Urd (C,B,A), Lest (C,B,A) and the nohrian retainers i really don't want to keep listing out the supports lol but i think it's pretty explanatory since the nohrians keep to the nohrian side and the hoshidans keep to the hoshidan side and there are some stragglers who go in between both of those and yeet for those who really like pairings, these are the main ones: mikayuu yuunoa feriguren shingure/gureshin mitsunoa kimiyuu yuuyoi/yoiyuu there's probably more but i'm too lazy to go back and read the whole entire thing from start to beginning again so yeah ^ if you have more headcanons for this then feel free to inbox me lol

Fates Headcanon: Royal children ages
I've been reading some Fates headcanons, and it makes me want to jot down some of my own headcanons. I'll start with my hc of the Royal children's ages:
Because I'm a huge nerd, I based them on evidence through the games and supports. Let's start with ages when Corrin got kidnapped (hereforth known as "The Kidnapping")
Through the story and supports, Corrin does remember a little bit about growing up in Hoshido, albeit not very much. This means that they had to have been at least 3-4 years old during The Kidnapping, because of childhood amnesia (ie the theory that babies either don't form episodic memory until 3-4, or they forget about the memories formed before then later in life). So my hc is that Corrin was 4-5 during The Kidnapping, since I think they had a couple years of memories from Hoshido.
Ryoma said in Corrin x Ryoma S support that Sumeragi trusted him with the secret that Corrin isn't Sumeragi's child. This makes me think that Ryoma would have been old enough to be trusted with this secret before Sumeragi died. So I think Ryoma is 13 during The Kidnapping.
Hinoka was young enough that she cried a lot right after The Kidnapping, and lashed out at Mikoto after she became the new queen (her support with Corrin), but also old enough to realize/understand what happened to mourn the loss of Corrin (and have the desire to get them back). So I place her at 7-8 during The Kidnapping.
Sakura said in her support with Corrin she heard a rumor that she was the one who was supposed to get kidnapped. Regardless of the truth of the rumor, it means Sakura was at least born during The Kidnapping. I think she'd just been born though, since I don't think she's that much older than Elise (more on Elise in a sec), so I place her at 0-1 during The Kidnapping.
Takumi is at least 9 months older than Sakura, but is younger than Corrin, so he could be anywhere between 2 and 4. But I put his age at 2-3 during The Kidnapping by working backwards from present day age. Plus he doesn’t remember Corrin at all when they met up in present day.
Elise had not been born yet during The Kidnapping, because in her support with Azura, Azura said she heard about Elise being born after Azura had been kidnapped to Hoshido. So Elise is about 4-5 years younger than Corrin.
Those are all the evidence provided by The Kidnapping. Now let's look at present day.
Elise is the youngest of the siblings, yet she's able to have a child, which means she's past puberty. I place her at 14 at the youngest. Which means that Sakura is 15.
This means that Corrin is 18-19 present day, which I think fits; they're old enough to make important decisions but young enough to be sometimes not rational, and for their older sibs to treat them like a kid sometimes.
Leo is younger than Corrin, but he acts more mature than Takumi, so I think he's older than Takumi. Yet he still does irresponsible things (eg Nohr drama CD) so I place Leo at 17, and Takumi 16-17.
Going off Corrin's age and the age differences calculated from The Kidnapping, it means Ryoma is 27-28, and Hinoka is 21-22.
With Xander and Camilla, I don't really see that much evidence to place their ages, other than Camilla seems younger than Ryoma but older than Hinoka (acting all motherly). So my hc is that Xander is slightly older than Ryoma 'cause he acts all dad-like, and he just _looks_ older (maybe it's the forever wrinkly brows). So I place Xander at 28-29, and Camilla at 26-27.
Now we have Azura (don't worry I didn't forget about her). Most people think that she's around the same age as Corrin, but I disagree; I think she is at least a few years older than Corrin. This is because in Revelations, she remembers stuff about her mom, and the things her mom taught her about Valla. This makes me think that she's 5-6 when her mom died. Plus, she has more vivid memories about her time in Nohr than Corrin does about Hoshido, which makes me think she was older than Corrin was when she was kidnapped.
The timeline goes like this: Azura’s mom dies => Garon going crazy and evil => The Kidnapping => The Revenge Kidnapping. I don't think there's a huge time gap between The Kidnapping and The Revenge Kidnapping, maybe a few months. But I think there's some gap between Garon going evil and The Kidnapping (he needs time to plot and stuff, plus there was the period of time that Azura suffered in Nohr after her mom died). So I think Azura is ~7 during The Kidnapping. This would place her at 21 present day (ie she's only a few months to a year younger than Hinoka).
In conclusion, tl;dr, my hc of their ages:
Corrin 18-19 Azura 21
Ryoma 27-28 Hinoka 21-22 Takumi 16-17 Sakura 15
Xander 28-29 Camilla 26-27 Leo 17 (older than Takumi) Elise 14

Yukiii... Please feed me some Ryouma x Male Kamui, I'm dying over here... Could you come up with something involving their S-support, but the flaws (lying about them being brothers and all) actually being addressed? Kamui getting super angry and not even giving him an answer at first? (I'm sorry, Ryouma, I love you but you deserve that slap... at least a little...) Of course, everything ends well later~ and if it's not too much to ask... can things get... steamy? OvO'
Aaah where to even begin with that mess of S-support? xD I’ll try to deliver everything, but be ready for some suffering >vAs always, I call the male avatar as Corrin, so sorry for not using the name you asked~
Part 1 - Part 2
Dusk was falling in the real world as the soldiers started to take shifts inside the Astral Realm. In there, the sunset was still to come, the skies in a mix of red and orange.
Corrin sat under a tree behind his quarters, holding his knees in a childish attempt to hide as his heart bled. “It’s like the sky’s feeling compassionate towards me, painting itself in such color.” He whispered to himself, looking at the ring his siblings had given him some time ago.
“This is from all of us,” Ryoma had said, flashing a beautifully hoshidan-made ring. It had inscriptions inside – all of the siblings’ names – whereas the outer ring consisted in an embossed Dawn Dragon, its body doing three turns before it met its tail.
Corrin had to hold back his tears, a lump on his throat making it harder to breathe. “T-that’s quite a ring…” He said, trying the accessory immediately.
“Indeed.” The High Prince nodded, crossing his arms with pride, unaware of the younger prince’s inner turmoil. “The four of us had it made for you a long time ago. We vowed to give it to you upon our eventual reunion. And here you are, safely returned to us.”
“As… as your sibling,” Corrin stuttered, lowering his head and praying that Ryoma would interpret that as emotion instead of self-loathing, “I’m so g-glad to be part of this family.”
Once again the dragon prince sniffled with the memory. How could he live like that? Hiding whenever his eyes met with Ryoma’s; wishing to murder the feelings which only grew stronger every time he heard his voice… wanting very much to simply disappear.
They were brothers! Corrin squeezed the ring and raised it above his head, ready to throw it away in the woods. His hand trembled. “If I had known I would feel that way… I wouldn’t have chosen to stay…” He croaked out, his entire body shaking as he brought the ring close to his heart, cherishing and hating it with the same intensity.
“Corrin? Corrin, I know you’re here somewhere!” An oh so beloved voice called for him, somewhere from behind him. The prince flinched and immediately put the ring back on his neck – he used it as a necklace so as not to lose it – before trying to sneak away.
Of course, that plan wouldn’t work. Ryoma’s senses were sharpened to almost perfection. At least his physical ones. “Aha, there you are!” The High Prince spread two bushes apart, revealing his crouching brother.
“Eep…” Corrin flinched, turning his head away from his brother. He had been on the verge of tears just a few moments previous, so it would be troublesome should Ryoma ask about that.
The High prince offered his hand. “I realize that you have been avoiding me lately, Corrin, and I need to know why. Being… being ignored by you hurts me more than you can imagine.”
Corrin dug his nails on his chest, biting his lip so hard it turned white. “Don’t… don’t say that…” By me, specifically? I can’t feel special! I can’t… he thought over and over, trying to convince himself like a mantra.
Ryoma crouched, stretching his neck to try to see the dragon prince’s face. “How can I not say it when it is the truth?” He huffed, almost in physical pain. The very same words he spoke brought him more reason to keep talking, the feelings locked inside his chest too much to bear. “Hah, however I have to admit that I have not been completely honest with you.”
“Huh?” Corrin peeked over his shoulder, confused. “You’re telling the truth but also lying?”
For the short second that their eyes met, Ryoma’s face contorted into a blush, making him avert the gaze towards the ground. “Ah, y-yes. That is to say… no! I am telling the truth, but not all of it.” He breathed in. “Father, forgive me. Queen Mikoto…” He looked up to the sky, the sun almost finishing setting.
The mention of their parents made Corrin’s heart grow cold and he finally managed to breathe in deeply before turning to his brother, his feelings once again tightly locked inside his heart. For Mother, he thought while crossing his legs and looking at the fruit of his taboo.
“Forgive me,” Ryoma started, sitting formal hoshidan style and placing both hands over his own thighs. “I have not been completely honest with you.”
Corrin’s heart grew colder at every word Ryoma spoke, dreading what was coming next. Had he found out about these ugly feelings? Was he there to say that Corrin was tainting their Mother’s memory by loving his blood sibling?
“The truth is… I am not your brother.”
Dusk fell and the sky darkened as the wind slowly blew their hair away, the silence stretching itself as both now non-siblings looked at each other: One with incredulity and the other with hope.
His heart had jumped right after the news, but his mind refused to accept. “What do you mean?” His voice sounded hoarse, as he clenched both fists. Was that some kind of sick joke?!
Ryoma breathed in with relief, as though he was waiting for that question to continue. “Exactly what I said. You and I are not related by blood.” He nodded and proceeded to speak the reason behind that elaborate lie.
Honestly, Corrin didn’t listen to it all; his heart thumping so loud inside his chest he could barely hear his own breathing. A frown started to dig itself over his brow.
Was he happy?
The love of his life was finally within reach… but all he could see was red as Ryoma babbled about their Father being an honorable man by adopting Corrin.
“What changed?” Corrin spat, clenching his fists so hard it almost pierced the skin. Ryoma stopped talking and blinked with a nervous smile.
“W-what?”
“Why are you telling me this now? What changed?! Why didn’t you tell me this two years ago when I first showed up in Hoshido?!” He started to get up, balancing himself on one knee.
Ryoma opened and closed his mouth, not understanding the rage but feeling that he should be honest. He stood his ground. “I fell in love with you.”
That was the last straw.
Corrin got up, a mix of incredulity, elation and, most of all, disgust fighting a battle inside of him. “So because your feelings changed you decided to drop this bomb on me?! You– you didn’t think for one second that I would spend the- the rest of my life loving my brother and beating myself about it?!” He stuttered and screamed, warms tears rolling uninvited from his eyes. Flabbergasted, Ryoma also got up and tried to make peace with both palms facing Corrin. “That I would live a miserable life watching…” he averted his eyes, his lips trembling with all of the scenarios his mind made him go through, “watching you marry a nice lady and becoming King while I would just wish I could wither away and die?!”
“Corrin,” Ryoma fought a frown and a smile – his beloved had inadvertently confessed his love! – taking a step forward.
“Don’t come close to me!” Corrin exploded, taking three steps back, huffing. “Just- just because you thought, ‘oh hey, I actually love him’ you thought it was about time you told me the truth?!” Corrin wrapped his arms around himself to stop the trembling as he took the time to breathe through his mouth. “I chose…” his voice got lower, memories of his time in Nohr flooding his mind, “I chose to stay behind because you guys were the ones who were truthful to me; who didn’t lie to me…”
Heartbroken, Ryoma stood there midway to apologies, his hand uselessly reaching out for his prince. “Corrin…”
The dragon prince let out a bark of laugh, “what’s the truth, really? You’re behaving just like Garon – lying and manipulating me into thinking I’m your family!”
“Corrin, you do not mean that!” He snapped. “Do not compare me with that monster!”
“Hah! Monster?!” Corrin sniffled, still shaking, “I was the one thinking I was a monster; loving my blood brother! How could you have lied to me about such an important part of my life?!” He huffed, out of breath. “Do the others know about it?”
Ryoma tried to keep his blood from boiling. As much as he loved that man in front of him, to compare him to that disgusting ruler of Nohr was pushing his limits!
However, seeing how much Corrin suffered dwindled the High Prince’s rage. Look at how that small prince trembled and cried – so many tears, so much more than Ryoma thought possible for a person to cry at once. The love blossoming in his heart made him calm down. And feel even more guilt.
He just wanted everyone to get along.
“Father spoke of this matter only to me. Unless Mother told them herself, they also believe you are their blood sibling.”
It took all Corrin had to stop the trembling. They have also been lied to? That couldn’t go on. “Come with me. We’re setting all of this straight right now.” He said before turning on his heel and leaving.
Ryoma looked down, his heart shredded to pieces. They loved each other, but would the lie that brought them together be too big of a hurdle on their oh so very faraway future?
“Corrin, please, tell me what’s going on! Your eyes are red and you’ve been crying ever since you summoned all of us here!” Hinoka pleaded as all of the hoshidan royalty grouped together at the real world. It was Hinoka’s turn to stay behind and watch over the remaining soldiers besides the portal, so they all chose to stay with her there.
The princes and princesses excused themselves to speak in a clearing, under the shining moon. Corrin finally raised his gaze to his fami– former family.
“Did you all know that we aren’t related by blood?”
Takumi crossed his arms. Sakura fidgeted as Hinoka widened her eyes and looked at Ryoma. He looked to the ground.
“Humph,” Takumi started. “Why do you think I resisted letting you in so much? You’re not even Father’s kid, so why should I have embraced you as my brother?” He turned his face to the side. “Well, that’s what I thought in the beginning, anyway,” he said in a smaller voice. But the damage had been done.
Sakura walked two steps forward and took Corrin’s hands on her small fingers. “I-I only remember a bit of our time together as children… so I’m glad we could spend time as a family to know each other better.”
More damage.
Hinoka still pierced her older brother with her glare, but touched Corrin’s shoulder and bended over to try to look him in the eye, “Mother told me about it during the time I went crazy trying to bring you back.” She smiled like a good big sister would, digging the knife deeper into his heart. “But it only made me want to see you again even more! I loved you as a true brother.”
A single tear fell from Corrin’s eye. Hinoka flinched.
“I still love you, Corrin! Nothing’s changed!” She squeezed her hand on his shoulder. Sakura did the same on his hands. Takumi reached out, feeling guilty for saying what he did.
Ryoma clenched his fists.
“So I was the only one who didn’t know?” Corrin said with the tiniest of voices. “I was the only one with these ugly feelings inside of me?” He cried, finally raising his gaze to the man of his life. Ryoma’s dejected look brought even more grief to Corrin’s heart.
How he loved him!
“Corrin,” The High Prince reached out, making the dragon prince flinch and take a step back, breaking contact with both of their sisters.
“Why did you all go through with this lie? I thought we were family!” He cried out, making both sisters bring her hands to their hearts.
“But we are, Corrin! Our love bounds us together!”
“Enough!!” The dragon prince yelled, shutting everyone in sight. “How can I reciprocate your love if it was all based on a lie meant to keep me around?!” He turned around and ran, wanting nothing more than to just disappear.
“Corrin!” Hinoka and Ryoma followed, but the High Prince was faster and the eldest princess didn’t have her pegasus.
They decided to split up to look for Corrin in the woods right ahead, but Ryoma had something Hinoka didn’t have.
He could always find his beloved no matter where he was hiding.
Not too long after going separate ways with his sister, Ryoma found his small prince in the same way he had done earlier that evening: hugging his knees and crying.
Ryoma finally felt his eyes itch. It hurt him more than a thousand arrows to watch Corrin suffer, especially since the source of the suffering was Ryoma himself. He spent a full minute reaching out to the air, uncertain if he should crouch and touch that small shoulder.
“…Forgive me.” Was the only thing he could say. “I thought I could embrace our love anew after telling you the truth, when, in actuality, I should not have kept the lie in the first place.” Corrin heard as he positioned himself on the ground, sitting formal style and bowing. “I truly, deeply, just wished to be with you as my beloved.”
That’s unfair, Corrin thought, his heart bubbling and his tears overflowing. “I’m mad at myself the most.” He declared, his voice hoarse from all the crying.
“Eh?” Ryoma raised his head, tilting it to the side in confusion.
Corrin put one hand on the ground behind him, slowly turning to the love of his life. His face was a crying mess: Nose, cheeks and eyes were red as the tears drenched it all. “I’m mad at myself for being so happy about it all.” He confessed, looking down. Ryoma’s heart skipped a beat. “I know I should be angry and yell and throw things at you and slap you – I thought of all of that.”
The High Prince fought a smirk and gulped, patiently waiting for Corrin to finish.
Slowly, the red eyes met the grey ones. “I know I should… I should rebel and say that I wished to never come here, but that– that would be an even bigger lie than the one you told me.” He sniffled. “I love you so much, Ryoma. I’m overjoyed that we’re not blood siblings; that I can finally be free of the chains of taboo bringing me down every time I raised my eyes at you… that you love me in return.”
“Corrin…” Ryoma smiled, slowly crouching so as to reach his prince’s side.
The dragon prince flinched, the whirlwind of emotions still fresh inside his chest, but the deep roots of his love screaming louder than anything else. Ryoma got close enough to caress that reddened cheek and swipe the tears away with his thumbs.
“Forgive me for making you cry so much, my precious prince.” He whispered, nuzzling Corrin’s swollen nose.
“Heh,” he held one of Ryoma’s hand, the other one holding onto the High Prince’s haori for support. “I’m still mad, but not for long.” He replied, raising his chin, brushing their lips together. Ah, his hot breath on his! How much he dreamed of that! “I’ll always forgive you.”
Ryoma’s smile disappeared as their lips touched for the first time, a wide array of emotions being transmitted to one another through it. Love. Grief. Acceptance.
Desire.
As Corrin opened his mouth to welcome more of Ryoma’s tongue inside of him, they felt as though time had stopped for them. A small moan died in the dragon prince’s throat, making his beloved flinch.
“What a sweet, sweet sound.” Ryoma said, biting Corrin’s lower lip, moving his hands towards the smaller prince’s back. “May I touch you, Corrin? I wish nothing more than to please you and make you happy for as long as we live.”
Another tear fell from Corrin’s eye. But this time, it was finally of happiness. “You needn’t ask; but yes, you may.” He giggled bashfully, wrapping his hands around Ryoma’s neck.
Ryoma waited no longer to run his hands from Corrin’s back to his front, opening the yukata the dragon prince usually wore when he was resting. Slowly, he pressed his hands through his beloved’s muscles as their mouths conjoined once again in a heated kiss, their tongues getting used to each other.
“Ah!” Corrin moaned as one of Ryoma’s hands reached his underwear. To get an erection with just a touch and few kisses… How much Corrin loved his prince. Ryoma relished on the sound, licking Corrin’s wet face towards his pointy ear.
“Call my name in this sweet voice, my beloved prince.” He whispered, making Corrin tremble from head to toe, already feeling his erection let out preseminal fluid. With just a whisper!
“R-Ryoma…” Corrin almost begged, making Ryoma himself close one eye in pleasure, his own erection poking at his loincloth. He lowered his mouth to Corrin’s neck, sucking it as his hand touched the now free erection, slowly pulling the skin up and down. “R-Ryomaah…” Corrin moaned, digging his nails on the broad back.
Slowly did the High Prince masturbate his beloved, looking down at the shiny glans as it trembled under his big hand, a terribly cute voice begging for more over his ear. Ryoma licked Corrin’s collarbone, neck and ears, his hands never speeding up, enjoying how stretched out his name became when Corrin became closer and closer to the climax.
“Alright,” he said before deeply kissing Corrin as he was about to come, muffling his increasingly louder moans under his tongue. The dragon prince came, his fluids spluttering around Ryoma’s hand and kimono, his body trembling and deflating with exhaustion. “Next will be my turn, but inside our tent.”
The post-orgasmic fog still clouding his mind, it took Corrin a second to understand as his eyes fell to the bulge on Ryoma’s pants. His anus gapped in anticipation and he held onto his beloved for his dear life as Ryoma took him in his arms.
“Our tent?” Corrin managed to whisper, his heart beating too fast and his mind to focused on the strong chest he was being pressed onto to remember the reason why they were so far into the woods.
“Indeed. I shan’t let you sleep on a separate tent; not after waiting for so long.”
Corrin gulped. They had two years’ worth of pinning to catch up to. He could only hope to match Ryoma’s stamina and thank the gods once more for the blessing of not making them siblings.

Tears had stained porcelain cheeks. Shakes wouldn't stop her wavering. It hurt to breathe, but she wouldn't say it. Biting her lip, Corrin forced herself to calm down as much as she could. As she spoke, gripping her arms in utter fright.
"It... It was about... M-Mother." Mikoto... Deep down, she still blamed herself. She wouldn't stop blaming herself for the wrongs that she did -- even though it wasn't her fault. "She was standing there, happy to see t-t-that we were all OK. We talked for a while, when... when suddenly --" The tears began to flow once more. "H-He showed up and--!"
It was a repeat nightmare from fortnights ago. Starting out as a peaceful conversation between her and Mikoto, the dream suddenly twisted itself into a hellish landscape. King Garon grabbed the Queen and turned her to dust. Threats towards the princess' life boomed in her dream, and flashbacks of what she did that day placed on repeat for what seemed like hours. Instead of the masked man, it was her -- SHE (another version, controlled by something) as the one controlling Gangrel with destruction to follow.
All she could do, was watch the scene. She was the cameraman for the film, and there was no way to stop it.
"I-I.... I-I'm sorry...." Came muttered by held-back desires to cry. Bringing up a hand to cover part of her face, she stared at the ground, once more struggling to fight the urge to wail.

Thorns of Yesterday - Ch. 2
Sooooo... Long wait for this update... I am not good with social media but I try! Depression has a good way of keeping me in bed and asleep and... not wanting to do anything but I digress. This chapter is kinda long-ish.
Takumi x F!Corrin/Kamui (Fire Emblem Conquest storyline)
Warnings! - Major Spoilers. Character death, angst, implied incest* (but not actually, please read the A/N), comfort, hurt, yandere, smut (later... maybe) A/N - Okay. I’m going to say this now so as to not have any “omg you like incest” No. No I do not. There are many reasons why I say NO. If you haven’t played Fire Emblem Fates I suggest you do so, or at least look up the Avatar - Corrin. The next chapter blatantly states why this is not actually the case. This is hard to explain unless you idk... KNOW THE PLOT OF THE GAME. Also this is going to be written from Takumi’s POV for the majority of the fic. Enjoy!
Screams.
The ground quaked beneath my feet. “W-What happened here?” I was in disbelief, scanning the now ravaged plaza. Where there was once a bustling crowd now stood silence; there were no sounds, no faces, just empty, lonely, nothingness. In the centre of the fractured square stood a hooded figure, and before his gaze was - Corrin, cradling our mother in her arms. Shock took the breath from my lungs and I turned and saw my sisters turn pale.
‘Mother.’
“You there! Show yourself!” Ryoma lunged at the figure, only for it to vanish as a blood curdling scream rang throughout the plaza. It was Corrin. She had become enveloped in a bright light and where my sister once stood a dragon had now taken her place. “A dragon?!” The words left me faster than I thought them. Ryoma and Hinoka immediately took a defensive stance in front of Sakura as Azura stayed silent, watching the dragon carefully. She stepped towards the creature only to be startled by an arrow coming between them. Nohrians. ‘ Damnit all! This isn’t the time! Nohrian scum.’
“We’ll have to deal with IT later, for now we have to take care of these assholes!” I shouted as I readied my bow and aimed for the nearest goon. My siblings ran to my aide and we quickly bested our foes. With the threat of the invading Nohrians vanquished I now turned to face Corrin, who was still in her dragon form. Azura began to walk towards the dragon. ‘Oh. Great. Now that the smallfry are done for we have another problem to deal with! That thing. I almost forgot.’ “Azura stay back!” Ryoma warned. She persisted nonetheless.
Corrin still remained in her dragon form as Azura began to sing, approaching it slowly. Feeling cornered, it raised an appendage and knocked her to the ground. My grip on my bow tightened, gauging the situation. ‘If she doesn’t return to normal I’ll end this myself.’ The song backfires and a now enraged dragon throttles Azura, pressing down on her throat. We ready our weapons, eyeing the two of them warily, Hinoka looked ready to throw herself in front of Azura.
‘Come on Corrin. I don’t really want to kill you but I will if I must. Come back.’
“Kill me if you want. But do it as yourself”. Soon after she had said this, the dragon began to fade and Corrin reemerged. ‘She’s back. Thank the gods.’ She staggered at first and looked pained and confused. “I remember it all...” She began to weep. ‘Fantastic. Here come the waterworks. Just what we need.’ I put my yumi away, irritated, shaken, secretly glad but also not willing to listen to her self-pity. “I remember the day Garon kidnapped me. Father died to protect me as well. This is all my fault. I’m so sorry I couldn’t see this coming.” She continued.
‘Are you kidding me? That’s what you’re upset about? After all that’s happened you pity yourself?’ After everything that had transpired, this was the last straw. “Your apology means NOTHING. This is all your fault! Mother is dead and so are countless others. And it wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t shown up on our doorstep.” I regretted the words as every time they left my lips. I knew it wasn’t true, but I continued.
“You don’t belong here!” The words echoed in the empty plaza as she stayed silent through my rant but Ryoma quickly jumped in to stop me. “That’s enough, Takumi! Garon sent her here as a pawn. I’m sure of it. I assume that sword was a present from him as well” She nodded. “This was a trap and he used you to complete it. We will not speak of this outside of our circle, lest the entire nation be thrown into chaos.” He warned.
We began to walk away when we heard a faint rattling. From the rubble of what was once a statue came a sword, it was drawn to her and flung itself into her hand. “A sword?” She remarked. Ryoma stared at the blade in awe, as he spoke, “Can it be true? The legendary Yatogami?”. “The Yatogami? What is that?” She questioned, examining the blade. “The Yatogami is a fabled weapon of yore. Only those chosen can wield the sacred blade”. I was taken aback. ‘You’re kidding me. She’s the chosen one?’ Before I could complain any further Hinoka spoke up, “Come. Let us return to the castle and let the others know what happened.”
It was a silent and painfully long walk back to the castle. Once we had returned Corrin remained behind and was laid in bed as a physician tended to her wounds. Azura stayed behind to make sure turning into a dragon didn’t do any physical trauma to Corrin’s body. “Ryoma, what do we do now?” Hinoka sighed. “We hold a meeting, call our retainers as well as Yukimura. This is going to be a long night.” He nodded in Sakura’s direction and she quickly went to go round up the retainers and find Yukimura. Once everyone gathered in the great hall and my brother explained what had happened, keeping certain details out to protect Corrin.
“So… You’re saying that the queen died to save her? Then… Then this is all her fault!” Oboro snarled and threw her staff down, while others murmured similar thoughts. Everyone started to become heated, angry, as was I. They began to grow louder and argued as to whether or not Corrin should stay. I still didn't trust the girl and the loss of our mother was too much for me.’Nohrian wench. She came back only to torment us. If only Rinkah hadn’t brought her back. If only we hadn’t had that stupid ceremony. If we only had taken her weapon. If only.’ My thoughts began to blur and I began to openly ramble, “I agree. This is all her fault. Nohrian scum. We should never have let her back here. She was probably working for them all along. We shoul-”
“TAKUMI!” Ryoma’s sudden roar silenced the room. It remained so until Yukimura chimed in. “S-since we've debriefed everyone, let us adjourn for tonight and talk about succession and other duties tomorrow morning. Is that alright Lord Ryoma?” Scanning the faces of the group Ryoma nodded. “Agreed. Everyone leave, except you Takumi”. The hall slowly emptied, leaving only me and my brother to fill it.
He walked to the steps of the throne and patted the spot next to him, I could see that I was in for a lecture. ‘Well, let’s get this over with.’ I had only taken a few steps forward when he had asked, “Why do you hate Corrin so much? She’s our sister”. I froze. He was right. I had no real reason to hate her, she was taken from us by force, held captive for years, but for some reason I couldn’t help but despise her. I know it wasn’t really her fault. I hadn’t quite realized my feelings for her yet, and a part of me believes that Ryoma already had an inkling.
“I don’t hate her.I don’t really feel anything particular towards her. She’s a stranger to me. Sister or not. I don’t care”. Now there’s a lie if I ever said one. I folded my arms in front of my chest. ‘Ok well maybe I do care. A little.’ As if hearing my thoughts, my brother raised an inquisitive brow. “Well if you don’t hate her, then why do you show such hostility towards her? She hasn’t done anything to you” He questioned. ‘Crap. He got me there.’ I was pacing back and forth in front of my brother, talking to myself, wondering why. I took a seat next to him. “The things that I said were just in the heat of the moment. I was angry. I know it’s not her fault but none of this would have happened if she hadn’t come back.” I spoke softly now. Looking down at my hands. ‘I’m sorry but it’s true, even if it’s only partially.’
Ryoma gave me a pathetic look, like the doting older brother he is. He calmly spoke to me. “Takumi, I understand that you’re hurt. We are all grieving... You want to hear what I think?” Sure. Why not. What more could he have to say to me. “What?” I sighed. He got up from the steps, patted me on the head and began to pull something out from his hakama. “I think you should read this. It’s from Queen Mikoto.” He shoved an intricately decorated scroll into my palm as he left the hall. I sat there, staring at the scroll, then at the empty throne where our mother once sat. ‘What is so important for me to know that Ryoma thinks I should have this?’ I carefully examined the scroll, the seal held the insignia of the royal family. “What is it you couldn’t tell me in person? Mother...”
