I have some sort of.. creature living in the garden. I don't know what it is, but here's how I discovered it.
I've been planting out some zucchini seedlings, and when I started digging a little hole with my fingers, I discovered there already was, a pretty big hole in that place. This isn't a surprise to me, there's plenty of little holes in my garden and it usually makes it easier for me to plant. Usually the holes are abandoned and just a leftover clue that a small creature was digging around in there. So I just shrug, put the seedling in the hole, and start covering it with dirt. While I was doing that, I thought I saw something pull the plant downwards, further underground. I blinked, unsure whether that has actually happened, it was only a subtle pull. I put it back into place and planted it, thinking if there was something living underneath, surely it's not going to eat my plants for lunch – after all, my garden is filled with plants just like this one, and the only creatures eating them are slugs.
However, 20 minutes later, when I came back to that same place, my seedling was gone. Only half of one leaf was left. It was eaten from underneath, and the hole under was fully opened, and much bigger than before. I was big enough for a very big mole!
I'm okay with one zucchini missing because I did plant about 10 of them, and I need 5, I assumed some would be taken by slugs, but I am now intrigued at what could be in my garden? I don't want to go digging in that hole because I think both me and the small creature would get startled if we stumble into each other, and also I do not want to get my fingers bitten. It's okay for us to stay in our own worlds. But I do wanna know what other things would the creature want to eat, do I have to avoid putting something other than the zucchini around there, if they're gonna be a threat to my beloved worms? Is it a useful little critter or something I should encourage to house elsewhere? I know people usually solve these issues by placing strong scented plants in the little holes, so the creatures decide they do not like the smell of the place anymore and go live in friendlier holes.

Common and even annoying to those who live here but seen as beautiful to most of the rest of the world, blue jays are the loud mischievous trolls of the garden. They’re also the only birds I notice eating ice when it’s too cold for water.
Edit: I take this for granted so I didn’t think to say but as @levile says they are corvids. They also like to mimic the calls of birds of prey, seemingly just to scare smaller birds for the fun of it.

the creakerrrrrrr
some headcanons on its behaviour and progress pics under the cut!
i drew its right arm, leg, head and torso as kind of one bit; and then the left left is a twisted branch, and the left arm is kind of grown into the torso and forms a sort of stump which also resembles a hand
its covered in some growth and vines, i was reaaaally tempted to give it mushrooms and some signs of animals living there but oh well it doesnt fit the vibe of the biome beeing so seemingly quiet and devoid of anything but plants
i gave it kind of birch markings and i think it could be cool if its eyes could move between them all around their body <3 (i might draw that on another art hehe)
i Also have an idea that if its supposed to be a puppet it could always be attached via vines to the trees; the vines seemingly disappearing in the darkness between the bushy crowns (i might also draw that too HeHeHe)
and now the progress pics :3

at first i made the leg too twisted, i also dont have many good materials to make traditional art (and im a bit out of touch with it tbh lol) but i think it still came out nicely :]

Hello I am back with more Viva Piñata doodles! Turns out if you think enough about fluffy piñatas you can force your way through art block (at least for a while)
Tumblr media
The typical Viva Piñata experience, I love you Pretztail but why are you like this I drew so many Pretztail as a "do over" of my first Viva Piñata drawing from 2018

that's when it all started

I just love these little creatures. When I was a wee l'il elf myself, I used to search for them in the gardens. The only thing I found was butterflies, dragonflies and bees among the flowers and berries. Still, I find each of them a delight! I still hope to see one of these enchanted creatures when no one else is looking.
