bonus art, lossy versions of the first 2 gifs
#ask to tag#unreality#flash warning#art#gif#photomanipulation#ganbreeder#<- for the creatures in the first 2 gifs#horror#surrealism#liminal spaces#weirdcore#creatures#i ended up using the non-lossy versions bc they were better for the effect i wanted#+ i wanted the last one specifically to look like it was corrupting the camera kinda like radiation#but thought id still include the lossy versions cuz theyre neat#the third gif is based off a reoccuring thing from my dreams#some sort of bright white object usually a big orb or disk#that you cant look at directly bc its so bright. its like a welding arc#you can usually touch or move it#it doesnt turn red like that in the dream or glitch out the camera tho thats just for the spooky#well the glitchyness is more bc the non-lossy version compressed the gif badly#so i figured id just play into the compression effect and make it fit the mood better#honestly turned out much cooler. limitations in art etc etc

I miss when ai art was just fun silly cursed shit like on dall e or ganbreeder, just seeing what the robots would create on our own, but like 4 years later, this current ai craze sucks ass

i do gotta say the fucking old ai art where it was a barely comprehensible representation of whatever was asked for was like an actually interesting art form that seems to have very quickly died off which saddens me because like that shit was so cool. like you ask it for a wizard and it's just this scary blob of light colours that barely makes a human shape
#😌#i know i cant be the only one using old ai for art#like my ai image edits and my ai inspired art#it has such obvious potential for horror art idk how i dont see more people utilizing it#if anyones interested in doing it I use Artbreeder#it has been adding more stuff you can do which includes the newer kind of ai art#BUT it still has the old kind#just click on the + at the top right corner of the page#and select 'splicer (classic)'#and then out of the options it gives you select 'general'#'sci bio' can also give u the kind of result ur looking for but#'general' is the one option that for sure doesnt use art or try to imitate art in its images. just photographs#and if you used the site back when it was called ganbreeder and ur used to that version and not the current one#you can click the '...' at the top right corner and click 'old version' and itll go back to that version

hey, i would love to know what kinda AI art tools you're using that don't require a login if you feel like sharing. i've been playing with bing's dall e 3 and it's fun but the censorship is really frustrating. i miss the old ganbreeder site so much, it's really sad the way that one went. anyway, love your art, have a good one 💜
Most recently deepai.org (downside: there's a daily limit). Also Neuralblender (though they keep changing the algorithm and I don't like the newest one very much) and Craiyon. I also use GIMP to edit out watermarks and make other edits as needed.

stupid little dog generated by ganbreeder way back then. He is an icon to me. This stupid little thing looks miserable.
What a silly thing!
Part of the novelty was that a computer made it. And it often made very stupid things. It tended to make very strange nonsense objects. Pretty clear a human didn’t make it.
And that was the best part to me! It was inhuman and weird. I let the machine do what it wanted to. It felt like I was giving a friend suggestions. But did I control it..? No. I didn’t want anything from it. I wanted to see a computer have fun. “What a smart little beast!”
You didn’t even prompt it, You gave it vauge suggestions, from what I recall. Selected from a predetermined list of things.
I remember, sometime after, ganbreeder became “artbreeder”. What a silly name, I thought back then. Why are we kicking out the AI who made these images? It was unfortunate. We no longer cared about the computer. We only cared about the results. The “art”. We didn’t see how impressive it was that a computer could create a legible image. We cared about the pretty pictures.
I feel, this too happens to artists.
We become tools.
I feel you, Ganbreeder.
Ganbreeder is gone.
Ganbreeder has been replaced.
Ganbreeder was killed to serve greed.
I miss you.
I want my friend back.
i miss when ai was silly and bad and dumb. Remember ganbreeder? I do….. I created so many fucked up looking dogs …. I want ai to be stupid again… Look at my son now……Hes gone down a life of crime…. Greed always wins it seems.
#vicarious#Sorry i got legitimatrly sad. Ganbreeder really felt like a friend to me.#I Cried A Little

Okay ai art was good when it was terrible and scary and looked like shit like when ganbreeder couldnt stop making weird dog blobs. im losing my shit at the thought of like an ai / robot being like "I drew a picture of you" and youre like ok and you look and the picture is all fucked up your skin is melty your face is wrong you have an extra arm for some reason and the subject of the image is blending with the background in a really weird way. And youre like awww thanks but you cant help but wonder if they think you look like this

so somehow it’s the first time I’ve seen your Dogs illustration from May. it’s very very cool and strongly reminds me of AI-generated art — did you use AI to inspire the shapes? or otherwise influence the piece somehow? interested in your process! very cool.
yes! some more directly reference ai images id generated than others lol
#these were made in artbreeder (formerly called ganbreeder)#theyre obviously shifting their focus to ai art if u couldnt tell by the name change#which is unfortunate but they still have available the original ai image generator i used years ago#these pics are just the ones i remember referencing#i referenced a ton of different images to get a good idea of how to make the dogs sufficiently fucked up#i have a bunch of older horror art on here that was very inspired by ai images but most of the time i didnt use references#just tried to emulate the effect of ai#i want to start using references more often so i can get a better feel for this stuff and get better at emulating that effect without them#its def challanging trying to draw something that just barely registers as a thing without drawing the thing itself#and that emulates the uncannyness of ai images#i also dont want to just draw the ai images one to one exactly as they are i more so want to create the same feeling that they create#while still having it be my own thing#its honestly kinda hard to explain the process of drawing this stuff just bc of the nature of ai images lol

I have to say... I have a supremely guilty pleasure in taking A.I. and beating it over the head with batshit esoteric nonsense until it gives me results like this. LIKE FUCK AI. but like sometimes I wanna push it I miss the neural network ganBreeder AI stuff...

The thing about Timmy Chalamet is that he’s truly a great actor and he even has good taste in projects and he’s not even overexposed when you calibrate for how overexposed all that group of 25-30 year old big stars are……however something is still off. any time he gets cast in something it feels like that movie instantly turns into a parody of a movie.
Quick, Draw!
