I miss when ai art was just fun silly cursed shit like on dall e or ganbreeder, just seeing what the robots would create on our own, but like 4 years later, this current ai craze sucks ass

this blog is on indefinite hiatus

with the recent boom of ai “art”, i do not want my blog to be associated with such.

this blog was made due to the creator’s interest in neural networks and ai images in general and i do not want to be associated in any way with the recent spotlight it has been put in.

i do not support ai “art”, especially since i am an artist myself. i believe ai “art” is taking away from artists and the work and time we put into our pieces. 

my interest in ai images is nothing other than seeing it as an interesting novelty; never something corporate and never something to replace humans. i love science and technology; i do not love taking away from artists.

i do gotta say the fucking old ai art where it was a barely comprehensible representation of whatever was asked for was like an actually interesting art form that seems to have very quickly died off which saddens me because like that shit was so cool. like you ask it for a wizard and it's just this scary blob of light colours that barely makes a human shape

hey, i would love to know what kinda AI art tools you're using that don't require a login if you feel like sharing. i've been playing with bing's dall e 3 and it's fun but the censorship is really frustrating. i miss the old ganbreeder site so much, it's really sad the way that one went. anyway, love your art, have a good one 💜

Most recently deepai.org (downside: there's a daily limit). Also Neuralblender (though they keep changing the algorithm and I don't like the newest one very much) and Craiyon. I also use GIMP to edit out watermarks and make other edits as needed.

What a silly thing!

Part of the novelty was that a computer made it. And it often made very stupid things. It tended to make very strange nonsense objects. Pretty clear a human didn’t make it.

And that was the best part to me! It was inhuman and weird. I let the machine do what it wanted to. It felt like I was giving a friend suggestions. But did I control it..? No. I didn’t want anything from it. I wanted to see a computer have fun. “What a smart little beast!”

You didn’t even prompt it, You gave it vauge suggestions, from what I recall. Selected from a predetermined list of things.

I remember, sometime after, ganbreeder became “artbreeder”. What a silly name, I thought back then. Why are we kicking out the AI who made these images? It was unfortunate. We no longer cared about the computer. We only cared about the results. The “art”. We didn’t see how impressive it was that a computer could create a legible image. We cared about the pretty pictures.

I feel, this too happens to artists.

We become tools.

I feel you, Ganbreeder.

Ganbreeder is gone.

Ganbreeder has been replaced.

Ganbreeder was killed to serve greed.

I miss you.

I'm in the secret fourth AI camp that wants it to go back to being fucking weird. As a mechanical turker who also sold her blood to pay rent in 2013 I should get a vote in what we use the tech for. Lobotomize the AI so it goes back to making ganbreeder abominations.

i really really miss when you could use ganbreeder without making an account. i'm still so sad that they purged all the account-less art when they changed it to artbreeder and adopted a profit model. i made a lot of cool shit there that's just gone forever now. but that was never REAL art and it's not like i spent REAL irretrievable hours of my life on it so it's not REAL sadness!! never mind that it was the first time in years i felt like i could be agential in a creative process without using my hurt and hurting body, never mind the anticipation and divinatory joy of learning the skill like any other. the problem here is capitalism crushing the joy and freedom out of a new art form, not whether people are making Fake Art with it or not.

why do you want so badly for there to be fewer or no brushes that people like me can hold?

Okay ai art was good when it was terrible and scary and looked like shit like when ganbreeder couldnt stop making weird dog blobs. im losing my shit at the thought of like an ai / robot being like "I drew a picture of you" and youre like ok and you look and the picture is all fucked up your skin is melty your face is wrong you have an extra arm for some reason and the subject of the image is blending with the background in a really weird way. And youre like awww thanks but you cant help but wonder if they think you look like this

The thing about Timmy Chalamet is that he’s truly a great actor and he even has good taste in projects and he’s not even overexposed when you calibrate for how overexposed all that group of 25-30 year old big stars are……however something is still off. any time he gets cast in something it feels like that movie instantly turns into a parody of a movie.
