SLIs

High affinity for food—especially junk, comfort and discretionary foods. This is a common observation with these dudes—If I had to throw a dart to the types that contribute most to obesity rates, it would be SLIs.

These individuals mostly opt for neutral, casual attire—I've rarely seen any SLIs in person wear flashy, colourful or bright clothing.

On the surface, usually seems dry, socially awkward and reserved, but tends to be soft, vulnerable and goofy if they cosy up to you (3E is a common psychosophy placement for these guys).

Able to let loose with close acquaintances but can be fucking lazy, unpunctual and sedentary. Conversely though, these guys possess amazing will-power when necessary.

The guys I know with this sociotype are all into gaming to some degree and enjoy kinaesthetic activities, like building/manipulation of tangible objects (e.g lego, crafting, fixing objects).

Dominant elements

The dominant IM elements of the Gamma Quadra are Te, Fi, Se, Ni. All Gamma Quadra types have these elements in the Ego or Super-Id blocks and tend to promote or favor their use over subdued elements.

Gamma types take a longer-term view regarding efficiency and profitability, giving lower priority to the short term. Likewise, they tend to aim at the broader benefits of decisions, rather than only at those affecting themselves, giving them an inclination for self-sacrifice.

Group behavior

Groups made up of primarily Gamma types tend to be small in size; perhaps 6 at most. Laughter and very obvious displays of emotion are subdued, instead, there is a lot of smiling, amusement with ironic and witty remarks or, when serious subjects or not very happy personal experiences are discussed, a serious demeanour. Even such small groups tend to split into smaller ones; perhaps 3 is the ideal “group” size for Gammas.

Group discussions are focused on exchange of information and ideas on subjects of mutual interest, discussing and planning activities together, or on personal experiences. The latter are usually discussed not with the purpose of making people laugh or to boast one’s position but to get an insight into the lessons to be drawn from such experiences.

Gammas usually dislike being “drawn” into larger groups where loud exchanges of jokes and quick shifting of one subject to the other are the norm, as in a large dinner table in an informal environment, especially if the group is also somewhat “artificial” as in work colleagues or business partners where personal relationships weren’t really spontaneously formed. In such situations, Gammas will tend to focus on the persons sitting immediately near them in order to engage them in more individual conversations or will tend to remain mostly silent, not really participating in the group atmosphere, making the impression of being “introverts” in the everyday meaning of the term.

Once a group is formed, it tends to be wary for some time of “newcomers”, being neither exclusive nor inclusive on purpose. Conversations often focus on trends regarding material and yet personal issues, such as career prospects and developments, success or failure of financial investments and enterprises, and the future prospects of romantic relationships, as well as the reasons for the failure of past ones. In more light-hearted moments, such talks get a “bawdy” flavor with some slight teasing.

Other subjects tend to focus on internal work politics from the point of view of how it jeopardizes general efficiency, the nonsense of bureaucracy, and how to be better than competitors.

Romance styles

Gammas usually have little time for “romance” in the “wooing” meaning of the term; relationships tend to develop rather as the meeting of two individuals interested in a relationship and each other. Elements of “courtship” or “romance” are seen as rituals with less meaning than the feelings involved. Relationships, also friendships, usually develop from exchanges of information, ideas, personal experiences of special significance, and mutual help, proceeding to activities together.

Gamma romantic interactions tend to focus on the longer-term prospects of the relationship in terms of definition, that is, for instance, even if it is to be a temporary relationship, this should be more or less clear, or at least in one’s mind, from the beginning. General impatience with flirting for flirting’s sake, or for fun; approaches and moves are made with a purpose, which may be altered down the road, nonetheless. Assumption that sexual innuendo and approaches are backed by some sort of emotional attachment. Perception of other quadras

Alpha

Gammas tend to perceive Alpha types as creative, generally well-meaning, and friendly and pleasant people, especially as a group, as a first impression. Later, Gammas tend to see Alphas as lacking ambition in the longer term, overly concerned with sensorial pleasure and comfort, and overly demanding of, and sensitive to, external emotional expression without making much effort to focus on deeper feelings involved.

Beta

Gammas tend to regard Beta types as driven, ambitious people with a sense of purpose and who can get things done, usually with very strong views, as in political issues or ways of approaching work, which Gammas tend to see as not backed by sufficient factual confirmation and therefore too ideological. Gammas also may regard Betas as two-faced when bent on achieving a goal, and too concerned with their social status, and that of others, within any given social group.

Delta

Gammas tend to perceive Delta types as kindly, well-meaning and creative people, but perhaps too present-focused and lacking ambition with a longer-term perspective, as well as being overly welcoming and forgiving of people whom Gammas may regard as undeserving.

Reevaluating Quadras and Quadra Attraction

You know, I was always sceptical about quadra attraction. 

In fact I still mantain that it’s probably only true to a degree, not that ‘necessary’ to get along & can be overriden by socialization etc .

We can find lots of examples & counterexamples and this is just one of it that only has meaning in the context of other observations. 

But it’s still amazing how the bae has managed to find ALL the ESFPs in our university’s the telecomunications engineering deparment. 

Like he’ll bring over/ mention/ run into one of his friends, and within 6 minutes the friend will say something like “I just can’t stand to be cooped up in a small room where I don’t have space to walk around.”, “I’m not so much into the theory part, it’s the hardware part that’s my thing” or “I’m glad that big gamble paid off”

From how he describes his childhood friends, he’s had this friendship preference all his life - ie, he made mischief , then while he was doing his barchelor’s degree he says he “hung out with the extroverts to learn their tricks”

One, for example, (the one I’ve interacted the mot with & am therefore surest about) is a super modest kinda bohemian dude even though his family is rich, who’s been getting his degree to appease his ambitious parents so they’ll accept his fiancé whom he’s still very devoted to despite the long-distance relationship. Body language is also a dead ringer for Se-Fi. 

The remarkable thing is, his friends are usually also businesspartners, colleagues or co-students, that is, businessmen, engineers and computer science/physics people - ie. a group where xSFPs would be underrepresented (though I definitely get how Se-Te would be useful for engineering and business should be their jam anyways) but they’re overrepresented in his friend group. 

He doesn’t much get on with most of the abundant NTPs at the faculty, often commenting on how a lot of pll there are “overspecialized antisocial Nerds who don’t understand the need for presentability/responsibility” (more an observation than a shittalk tho, he wants to know why) - though he has one good friend who sounds xNTP-ish (according to him, he’s “very good with alghorithms & is very passionately into designing them but also really overcomplicates things at times”) and, of course, me. 

Not sure if he ever tried dating an ESFP tho. He doesn’t mention his exes much, (and as an 1 INTJ with a strong 9 wing he’s simply not the sort to vent about that) but there’s been the implications that there was unpleasantness  - GFs who wanted him to call all the time, didn’t listen to his ideas, wanted to go out and do a lot of stuff more than he could put up with. That does sound like a negatively skewed ESF descriptions but it could’ve been ESFJ as well and it’s not enough info to remotely tell anything. 

For not entirely altruistic reasons, I’m kinda glad he didn’t (or that it didn’t work out)

Alpha

Deltas tend to see Alpha types as fun company and interesting people to discuss ideas and prospects with, but naive and inconsistent in their personal and business relationships. Alpha types seem to lack the common sense to turn their fun and creative energy into something productive and often seem overly idealistic.

Beta

Deltas tend to see Beta types as people who “dream big” and always want to turn things into grandiose endeavors, yet can’t manage day-to-day affairs effectively. Also, Beta types seem unwilling to consider things from the point of view of others, which gives them a streak of meanness and cruelty.

Gamma

Deltas tend to see Gamma types as driven and reliable in personal and business relationships, but not sufficiently understanding of people who want to pursue their own individual path in life. Gamma types sometimes become too demanding and can have a streak of vindictiveness or spitefulness which prevents them from being accepting and forgiving.

Skald Modular Skald One: un nuovo sistema polifonico Eurorack

Skald Modular ha recentemente presentato al SynthFest UK 2024 il suo Skald One, un nuovo sistema polifonico analogico per Eurorack che promette di semplificare la complessità spesso associata alla creazione di suoni polifonici nel mondo modulare. Ma mantiene le promesse? Approfondiamo nel dettaglio questa interessante novità.

Un approccio innovativo alla polifonia Eurorack La polifonia in Eurorack è notoriamente impegnativa. Richiede numerosi moduli per ogni voce (VCO, VCF, inviluppo, ecc.), un'infinità di patch, e conseguentemente, un groviglio di cavi che può facilmente trasformarsi in un incubo. Humans are Space Orcs “Venomous Saliva?”

During the solar cycle of 14456 a replication study was conducted by our scientists on the Intergalactic Congress Laboratory. The study attempted to replicate an experiment from a previously published human study. The results were a conclusive replication indicating that the human mouth contains up to 200 species of microorganisms at a concentration of 1,000 to 1 billion on each dental protrusion (tooth).

Despite their out world classification as a class A-1 predator, on their own planet they meet a low classification of a D-8 predator or a B-2 when factoring in their intelligence. For this reason, on their own planet, the humans are not considered to be venomous despite the need for immediate hospitalization upon receiving a bite from their own species.

Off planet their nature as an A-1 apex predator gives them a subclass of a G-6 venom predator. Though their saliva is not dangerous when in contact with open skin or carapace, immediate medical attention is required if bitten or spit on. Areas of danger include the eyes nose mouth, or any other orifice that allows access to the nervous system.

Additional literature on the subject indicates that bacterial presence is used as a catalyst for breaking down food in the mouth. Other bacteria exists within the gut to help with food processing. Without bacterial assistance, food processing would be almost impossible for a human. The nature of this mutualism inoculates the human against most off-world diseases.

A cautionary note: Species from the Gamma four sector are advised to keep clear of humans all together as they are particularly susceptible to human venom*.

 At any other time, Krill might have been worried about their present predicament, but after months of shenanigans with the humans including almost dying more than once, the situation they were in now was almost laughable.

Once again human reckless stupidity had brought them to their knees before an angry group of Burg. Perhaps they would have made it out alive if the “sass” of the Captain hadn’t inadvertently offended the leader of the ship; an offence, which punishment was immediate execution.

On their knees, the humans were almost as tall as the Burg, though of course the Burg were Octapeds, and would likely tower over the humans if they stood on their back-most set of legs.

“Ready yourself for your demise, Human.” The Burg commander clicked through his quadra-segment mouth a sheen of base slime glittering over his body

The Captain raised an eyebrow, “Come on, I didn’t mean it like that. In fact ugly scorpion is a term of endearment on my planet.”

With a roar, the Burg commander scuttled closer pincers clicking right in front of the humans face shining points ominously close to his one remaining eye. The human blinked and leaned back in a very unsettled sort of way. Despite this, Krill still saw the reaction as understated. He had death literally two inches from his face and he seemed more disturbed by the thing’s segmented mouth than his own eminent doom.

“Ready the weapons!” the Burg called out. Beneath him a light dusting of slime glistened in the low lighting. The entire ship smelled painfully sterile. Out of the corner of his eye, Krill could see the humans wincing as the smell assaulted their noses.

“I don’t think you want to do that.” The captain interjected as plasma rays were aimed towards his head.

The Burg gave a clicking laugh, “You are hardly in a place to be making threats.”

“Oh really,” Krill had spent enough time with the humans to know when they were bluffing, and the Captain was getting ready for a big whopper of a lie. Why he thought that would work mystified Krill, but he said nothing content with watching the horror unfold from a distance.

“Do you even know what a human is?” The man asked ominously

The commander laughed, “I do not care.”

“Well you should.” The human shot back, “If you knew what we were capable of you would run screaming from this place.”

“And why is that?” The creature asked in amusement

“Because, if I chose to, I could snap these chains with my bare hands and throttle you with them.”

The creature laughed, but Krill kept silent. He sort of doubted that claim, but it honestly wouldn’t surprise him if that was true.

“Than do it. If you can break the chains than do it, and take your freedom.” When nothing happened, the creature gave a chuckle mandibles clicking in amusement.

“I am going to enjoy this, and once you’re dead, I’m going to take my time with the rest of your crew. I am going to rip them to pieces bit by bit and sing along with their screams of agony.

Mistake.

Krill winced shrinking back as he watched the human’s eyes narrow in rage.

The creature let off another clicking laugh, and then a terrible scream. Krill yelped in horror unsure what was happening as the group of creatures rushed in to help their commander who was on the ground underneath the captain’s knees.

The man’s teeth had torn a piece of carapace from the creature’s shoulder.

As he was pulled away saliva and slime coated his chin and neck.

Where the saliva and slime made contact steam fizzed into the air.

The Commander once silent was now crying out in pain scratching at his torn carapace with terrified fervor. Steam blasted from the slime-producing pours under his carapace as the slightly acidic human saliva met the base slime of the creature.

“IT BURNS!” He screamed. The steam was fading away now, and the spot was beginning to turn red.

Even the captain seemed surprised as the creature thrashed around on the floor its pinkish flesh growing redder and redder by the moment.

Whatever it was, it was spreading.

In acts of anger, the rest of the crew turned to face them weapons leveled. They kept at a distance. Whatever the human had done, it couldn’t reach them here.

In an act of what must have been defiance or sheer dumb luck, one of the humans spit at the closest soldiers. Whatever it was, it happened to be a pretty good shot striking the creature in the face who immediately reared back roaring in pain as steam rolled off his carapace.

Looking back down at the commander, the redness had spread under his other plates which were even now beginning to wilt and blacken. Steam rose from his skin.

The captain backed away in shock eyes wide.

One of the other humans had appropriated a plasma weapon from the thrashing commander and shot the chains loose releasing the humans who, made a point of growling at anyone who got to close retreating from the ship quickly.

 The virulent reaction of the saliva was enough of a concern that, once the Intergalactic Assembly had caught wind, they demanded the humans be placed into quarantine as the ICDC examined the site. While conclusions were still being formed about what had happened, the running theory was that, the slightly acidic nature of the human’s saliva had reacted with the basic nature of the protective slime rendering it functionless as a protective agent. The bacteria were then able to slip in through the pores under the creature’s armor and spread rapidly through its nervous system. It was unknown at this point why the bacteria had been so fast acting, but it was theorized the structures of the humans verses the Burg somehow accommodated the spread of bacterial infection.

The eyes, requiring the basic slime to function had had their functioning burned away and allowed infections to set straight into the brain.

The Intergalactic council ruled the incident self-defense, and mitigated other charges as the human had not known what the reaction would be.

However, from that day on, a law was set in place determining that a human spitting at someone to be a class one Felony charge, or in certain cases, attempted murder, while other precautions were put in place forcing human inmates to wear spit shields when placed into custody.

Despite themselves, the humans found the entire thing funny, never had they assumed another species would consider them venomous.

It was only bacteria after all, and venom and bacteria aren’t the same thing.

-Fi = minimization of negative relationships. This element is critical of evil. They desire to get away from bad people and poor relationships, and to protect themselves from enemies and adversaries. They want to minimize negative experiences, because as we know from psychoanalysis, all extruded problems are liable to generate an emotional reaction one way or another, with a physical cost for the purification of the subconscious.

-Te = business logic of risk and entrepreneurship. For them it is characteristic to reject that which is useless, insignificant, mundane. This aspect is valued as more important than accumulation and rational consumption. Gammas successfully operate in environments of economic scarcity, where in order to survive it is necessary to use something that may appear useless at first glace, but which is present in abundance.

+Se = durability and resistance. This quadra is well capable of defending itself and its position. For them power is not easy to acquire, as to do this they must resist the volitional Beta quadra. However, once it is seized, they can hold on to it despite all attempts at restoration. Protectiveness, ability to defend themselves against all force, ability to keep that which was acquired - these are the principles that they respect. This quadra can be called the quadra of criticism and reforms. In contrast to the 'fire' Beta quadra, which is oriented primarily politically, this quadra is oriented more socially.

+Ni = constraining their hot temper, these sociotypes prefer to advance gradually into the future, though they may sharply reject obsolete ideas, criticizing past mistakes. Advancing step by step, they generally believe in the linearity of development, i.e. according to their deep convictions, it is only necessary to remove obstacles, remnants of the past, and immediately this will open endless possibilities for growth. This quadra is not afraid of chaos and upheavals: they know how to conduct their work under conditions of change, risk and confusion.

+Fi = positive, warm relationships. Psychological factors play a vital role for them. Without recognition of ethical values such as individuality and the uniqueness of others, religion and spirituality, non-interference in others lives, concrete humanism, etc., the stability they strongly desire is hardly possible.

+Te = logic of use and rational management of resources. This is the most cost-conscious quadra that consumes rationally and prefers high-quality long-lasting products. Risk, rushed jobs, economic chaos and manipulation are not characteristic of this quadra. The society of quality consumption should be stable.

-Si = minimization of discomfort. They value good working conditions and are reluctant to change their routines. This element excludes harmful influences from external environment. This quadra cannot work during emergencies. They highly value convenience, comfort at their workplace, and good coordination at work.

-Ne = the unusual, alternative and bizarre. Despite its groundedness, this quadra respects unusual and talented people who offer creative alternative possibilities. The spread of new information is not impeded, no matter how avant-garde it might be. In Delta groups, there occur periodic flashes of sensationalism and spikes of interest centered around original people who put forward alternative ideas of development.
