Dungeons of Hinterberg

I find it quite difficult to play games for myself sometimes because it tends to be overruled by "Oh I want to show people this on stream' or 'I want to do a YouTube Let's Play'.

And I feel guilty when I don't do either because I feel like I'm not giving the game enough recognition. So to absolve me of this (and this is not an ad!) All of you should go and check out Dungeons of Hinterberg.

You play as Luisa who travels to Hinterberg in the Austrian Alps where 25 dungeons have suddenly appeared and a whole tourism industry has been built up around adventurers coming from around the world.

You can probably tell the art is wonderful. Your time is spent exploring the surrounding regions, adventuring through dungeons, making friends in town and learning different magic that you can only ever wield around Hinterberg.

I refuse to describe this game as 'cosy' because I think 'cosy games' are beginning to outstay their welcome and this is genuinely fresh and exciting.

The developers have said that this will continue to be a free-to-play game. The only real-money purchases are for cutesy outfits. Nothing purchased with real-money will ever give gameplay advantages.

While Singularity 6 is a newer company formed by previous employees from large MMOs, it is still a big company; I want to be transparent that this isn't a tiny indie game.

That said, the developers are very transparent about game progress and have proven to be extremely receptive to player input. The game is in beta testing. Each update brings new content as well as fixes, and I've enjoyed every one!

Fields of Mistria - I already own it and cannot wait for more updates (and hopeful switch release

Paralives - as an avid sims fan since I was seven, I desperately yearn for EA to have some degree of competition. so far, I love what I’m seeing of Paralives and cannot wait for early access in 2025

Full Release:

Dragon Age Veilguard - I do not believe in the ‘the’ in the title and choose to ignore it. I first played DA in like ‘16 or ‘17, so I’ve been waiting a little less that others lol but still I cannot wait for this game!!!! I just don’t know who to romance…

Astro Bot - when I got my ps5 when it released and didn’t have any games yet, Astro bot became my one true love. I cannot wait for a fully fleshed out game with this little guy 🩵💙

MySims Cozy Bundle - the way I screamed when I saw their re-releasing Kingdoms too!!! I played kingdom so many times over when I was in elementary school (which was like 10 years ago 👵🏽) and I cannot wait to do it again on one of my favorite handhelds ever

If you haven’t played it yet, I recommend cinderella phenomenon! The MC is quite the mean brat to basically everyone in the beginning but she learns to be more empathetic towards others and she’s not expected to fix the problems of the guys, they all try to fix each others problems together

Stargate (1994) - This was the movie my father and I connected with and the movie that started my desire to be a linguist. Daniel Jackson was my everything and continues to be my favorite franchise.

Jurassic Park (1993) - Ok it's dinosaurs and I just always love how real the practical effects still look today. It was also the only movie I could get my brother to watch with me when he was old enough.

Saw (2004) - Don't judge I'm so sorry. But I watch this whole series at least once a year. it's SO addicting for some reason.

The Goonies (1985) - My dad had a habit of showing movies to me when I was sick, and this was one of the ones I remember wanting on repeat when I was younger.

Lost Boys (1987) - Another movie my dad showed me specifically because I said "vampire movies are my favorite" Also Cry Little Sister has been stuck in my head since 1997. That song is on every playlist because of this movie.

Dragonheart (1996) - This sparked my love of Dragons and the adventures that there were. Because of this movie, I sought out Dungeons and Dragons and have been playing ever since.

The Tenth Kingdom (2000) - technically a Mini Series, but the way I watch it is a movie. I love this so much, even if I re-watch it now seeing just how problematic it is. Wolf has my heart.

So I saw you answered asks about video games, and I wanted to chime in 😉 have you played the Horizon games? I really enjoyed Zero Dawn and was super excited for Forbidden West and well... My excitement kinda evaporated after 6 hours of gameplay... It's just so slow and the story isn't gripping me at all... :/ So, I'm curious if you have opinions on them :D

I have not, though Zero Dawn is on my list (Gamestop does a 'buy two get one' for used games a few times a year, so I keep a running list), so I have no opinion to offer.

There were so many more, I had to dig deep for "actual movies that brought me comfort" and not "movies that I love"

Anastasia (1997) - This will always have a special place in my heart because of my mom. I made her watch this so many times and she let me sing and dance, we used to recite the lines randomly when we were out and about. This is probably where I got that annoying trait (which I'm happy I have honestly lol). I can sing all these songs because the soundtrack was so good but I will cry anytime this is on.

The Prince of Eygpt (1998) - SOUNDTRACK! Should be enough said but it isn't. This was a great movie and it was a time I still lived around cousins so we all sang this.

Remember The Titans (2000) - Denzel was fantastic in this movie. At the time I was going to a school where football was good so I think I maybe watched this to try and understand it. But I just loved it. I always watch this, honestly. I know this entirely by heart.

Erin Brocovich (2000) - JULIA! god, I loved her in this. I love this movie and it was based on an actual event. I swear I wanted to be her when I grew up. Still a fav.

Freedom Writers (2007) - This came out when I didn't know what I wanted to do and was kind of trapped. It hits a spot in my heart. It helped me, how? IDK but I know it did.

The Blindside (2009) - Love this movie, again a real story. Such good acting, again football. (Maybe I have a problem lol squints) But this is just an amazing movie and Sandra Bullock is a queen.

Encanto (2021) - The most recent but I totally vibed with this & I know every Latino/a is going to say CoCo was it but this was mine where I was like "FINALLY DISNEY" I was mad as F that the abuela was a little bad but I mean very realistic and it's a metaphor with how a lot of Latin families are in a way. It's hard to explain, you just had to be raised this way. lol. Also, Soundtrack slaps!!
