Team stats from our first win. Shooting percentage UP turnovers DOWN. 51 points off the three ball—we were 2 shy of getting the WNBA regular season record for 3PM.

Katniss is such an unreliable narrator. She says "Then something unexpected happens. At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. Idk how to tell you but I think you're a pillar of the community.

Peeta buring the bread and tossing some to her then taking a beating from his mom is a HUGE thing in the books.#he used his resources to help her like you all said someone should.#district 12 DID (rip) care about Katniss before the hunger games. why do you think she was allowed to hunt? or how her trades were good#these are the little ways 12 can shows Katniss they love her. but again Katniss doesn't see this and YES its because she had ptsd before the#hunger games as well. i swear some of you make it seem like d12 was all living a life of luxury and glaring down at Katniss.#other things that show Katniss is in hight standing with at least her people of d12 is her dad was known enough through d12 for peeta dad to#comment on his singing along with his commenting on her mom. also her mom is a healer in the community. yeah her parents arnt the top but#of d12 but they are/were definitely high staning in the Seam.

The thing that is striking me most about reading Sunrise on the Reaping is that when I read thg I was in the 12-18 age group. Katniss and Peeta were older than me and I thought they were cool and brave and didn’t really grasp the true horror of what was happening. Now I’m 29 and reading about these babies and it’s so so much more visceral. Like they’re just little children!! They named their alliance like you name your middle school friend group! Haymitch is trying to be a bad boy and thinking about making sandwiches!! She was making braided necklaces and selling gumdrops!!!

The scene was powerful in the book, but there was just something about watching reaper collect the bodies of the dead tributes in the arena. The way he removes the weapons from their hands, lays them out nicely, giving them the smallest bit of dignity in death. The contrast to the capitol gasping in shock as he pulls down the flag, not in rebellion, but in mourning. The way mourning in the hunger games IS an act of rebellion. “How are you going to punish me now?” The feed then immediately cutting to the news of the death of one capitol boy, whose death will be avenged upon those who had nothing to do with it. Only certain deaths are allowed to mean anything. God. Suzanne Collins knows what she’s doing.

Game 13 Cliffs Notes Tues, June 11 7:30pm EDT Washington @ Atlanta
Starting: WASH: Atkins, Dolson, Edwards, Samuelson, Sykes (Austin hip recovery) ATL: Charles, Gray, Howard, Jones, Parker-Tyus (Canada hand injury)
1st Quarter Slim is back. She misses her first attempt but makes sure on the next shot. Stef lights up the three. So far we are getting shots off much earlier in the possession than has been the case most of the season. Is it time together? Atlanta D not enough? A calculated adjustment? After 3 minutes, Vanloo comes in and Sykes sits. I imagine this is a slow return situation. Vanloo hits the three right away. 10-2 run off Atlanta misses. Pace is high. Dolson block. Vanloo almost gives it away then hits the buzzer three. Score is 13-4 right now, timeout Coach Wright. Earl steal out of the timeout but she misses the conversion. Threes are falling: Earl gets another three, we're shooting 67% from range here early. Whoops extra step from JVL. Shatori gets in on the 3 action off a great assist from Atkins. Former Mystic Aerial Powers enters the game and gets a tough bucket. Slim for 3. We are only shooting threes tonight and I am all about it. SHATORI AGAIN damn this is insane. 7 threes so far. We go for a two and throw the ball away. What does this tell us? 25-15 after 1.
2nd Quarter Two blocks from the Dream. We are 1 of 4 opening the 2nd, each play under the hoop. Hmm… Still going straight under the crowded rim and it isn't working. Mystics timeout. We find Earl on the perimeter for 3 the first play. Aaliyah and Karlie yet to get going tonight. It's 33-25 after Rhyne hits a 3. Nice slip pass Jade to Myisha, who gets the bucket and the interception on the other end. Mystics outshooting Atlanta by a wide margin. Rhyne heard me and hits a 3. We've gotta box out former Mystic Tina Charles. Earl is playing great D as usual. 8-1 run for the Dream and lead drops to 5. 38-33 going into half.
3rd Quarter Rhyne is fastest WNBA player ever to 200 3s. Allisha Gray adds one here but Karlie hits her response. The Dream may end up in foul trouble down the stretch. Stef goes three too and it's feeling more like the 1st quarter. Sykes gets one as well and the lead is double digits! We are playing a super help style person defense. I like it. It does require a lot of mental and physical energy though. In NY, we couldn't hear ourselves think. Today I can hear us talk on D on the broadcast. That's the stadium volume talking. Atlanta has the smallest in the league and Barclays is 5x bigger. Crystal Dangerfield is too quick—she gets a steal. It's 55-46. JVL makes a great downfield pass to streaking Slim. Eric gets a tech for yelling about the contact that Slim took, which was significant to be fair. Yish hits the three after a couple missed layups. More evidence the three ball is charmed tonight. 64-50 and DiDi is dancing.
4th Quarter Slim dagger three to open the 4th. Powers answers. SLIM ANSWERS BACK. Can't wait for her next home game. Stadium's gonna rock. Uh oh she's limping a bit here and takes a seat. 72-55 Defense still doing work here. JVL makes the 15th three of the night. Nia Coffey left alone and gets hers. Earl hits a three over Rhyne and the Austin joins the sideline dance party. 3:17 left and 18 pt lead for DC! Coach Wright pulls 4 starters and in the shuffle tries to play with 6. Nice try, Tanisha, sneaky ;) Eric is cheesing. DC bench in for final 2 minutes. Engstler gets in on the threes. It's not a win, it's a blowout! 87-68

Final manifestations for Book 7?
I'm trying REALLY hard not to build up any solid expectations, because I wanna go in ~fresh~! they're already so far away from anything I thought would happen (not in a bad way, I'm just accepting that I'm on Miss Yana's Wild Ride at this point and we're seeing this thing through 'til the end, by gum). so it's nothing too major, but:
they've been handing new crying expressions out like candy lately, I want to see some delicious Malleus tears.
honestly I want everyone to cry buckets. their tears sustain me. the more Silver angst specifically I get the happier I am.

just let him have this. the poor boy's been through so much. let him have his big "I'm proud of you, son" moment with Lilia.
I'm 100% expecting Grim's arc (and probably whatever's going on with Crowley) to be its own episode, but a nice hook to leave us hanging on would be good!
