Ashen Eidolon

Ashen Eidolon is a black metal album by the band Gallowbraid that was recommended to me by a fellow black metal enthusiast. I was immediately drawn in by the beautiful album art and decided to give it a listen. I was not disappointed.

The track features beautiful acoustic guitar work and haunting vocals that create an atmosphere of melancholy and despair.

he lyrics deal with themes of death, grief, and the passage of time, and the music perfectly captures the raw intensity and darkness of these emotions. The vocals are particularly impressive, with the singer delivering powerful and emotive performances that perfectly complement the music.

The band's ability to blend elements of folk and black metal to create a unique and captivating sound is truly impressive, and their ability to convey a sense of raw emotion and intensity is what sets them apart from other bands in the genre. I highly recommend this album to any fan of black metal, or anyone looking for a beautiful and emotive musical experience.

🎤 have you been to a concert

I have been to many concerts over the years, mostly metal. The most recent ones were HEALTH, Dethklok, Trivium, The Hu. I used to go to a lot of folk metal concerts but I’m kinda soured on the genre because of you know, neo nazis and such.

🎵 favorite artists

My taste in metal tends to vary over the years, to the point where I don’t really have a favorite atm. The one constant that I always love is My Chemical Romance 🖤

Subgenre- Melodic Folk/ Black Metal 

A fantastic Agalloch-esque band by the same guy who does Visigoth!!

I really love grimdark and related genres, so I was wonderig if you had any recommendations? 🙏

On a related note, have you heard about/played/watched someone play Mouthwashing? Its psychological body horror and artistically really well done.

My grimdark recs! Everytime someone asks me for a rec I immediately forget everything I've ever watched or read, but anyway:

GOATs that everyone knows: Berserk (manga) asoiaf (the books, i didn't finish watching the show so idk about that) The First Law trilogy (books) Between Two Fires (book)

Other personal faves: Battle Royale (the manga, never watched the movie) Malus Darkblade books 1-5 (less grimdark and mostly just edgy but I love them, they're cute and funny in an edgelord way) Vinland Saga (but only the prologue. ONLY THE PROLOGUE)

Also I will recommend Ashen Eidolon by Gallowbraid for music, for the vibes.

I have not played Mouthwashing yet! it looks cool though and I will probably get it at some point!

I have now listened to the entire album, very enjoyable. If you're a fan of, like, Falkenbach, Gallowbraid, idk, that swaying 6/8th groove style black metal with some folk touches and lots of clean vocals, give it a listen! 'S good shit!
