So that left him. Ian Gallagher. The middle, often forgotten sibling, with a long list of guys he had hooked up with since he was seventeen, ranging from closeted high school jocks to random hookups at Boystown to geriatric grandpas. None of which, as he learned the hard way, were his soulmate (or any kind of mate for that matter) (though anyone with eyes probably could’ve told him that) (he was young and naive and didn’t know any better, okay?).

Now he’s twenty-five, living alone in a shoebox studio apartment, working a steady but horribly boring desk job as a sales rep for office supplies, with coworkers he gets along with but kind of can’t stand to be around at the same time, and still hopeful he’s going to find the love of his life in this bleak, dreary world.

Mickey lives a quiet life and works a boring job to pay the bills and get by comfortably. He purposely chooses not to interact with his coworkers because what’s the point? He’s fine with the routine he’s established. He doesn’t need to be with anyone. If he wants to get off once in a while he’ll go to a club in Boystown and find the first available guy to jerk him off. It’s fine. He’s fine with it. He can’t complain. He’s single and alone, but he’s alive and that’s all he can ask for.

Until Ian fucking Gallagher came waltzing into the office one day and flipped his worldview completely upside down and sideways to all hell.

“Twelve stitches,” Mickey tells him, voice wobbly and vision blurry. “Doc said it might scar, but. Yeah. It’ll heal.” It’s like something clicks in Ian’s brain, maybe. Like he remembers. Like he knows the events that happened to lead him here, but he can’t quite comprehend them. He lowers his bandaged arm back to the bed and stares at the wall. He doesn’t look at Mickey again. “So, um. Yeah. They patched you up,” Mickey says, the first tear falling down his cheek. He wipes it away, but the second isn’t far behind and he gives up trying to hide it. “You’ve been sleepin’ basically all night. They said you would. Said what happened was… traumatic, or whatever, and you’d need lots of rest.” “Stop,” Ian pleads. He closes his eyes, the words too painful to hear. To accept, maybe. Mickey nods, looking down at the floor. He twists his mouth to one side, sniffs. “I know you don’t wanna hear it. And you’re probably gonna hate me for makin’ you go to one of these places again—” “Don’t,” Ian whispers. “You’re gonna get some fucking help, Ian.” Mickey wipes at his face with the back of his hand. “I—I’m out of my depth here. But they’re gonna take good care of you, okay? It’s seventy-two hours. The doctors and shit, they’re gonna help you. ‘Cause I… I don’t know what else to do. And if you hate me for that—fine. I can live with that.” He sniffs. “But I can’t live without you. Okay? Do you get that?” “Mickey,” Ian pleads, but he won’t look at him, won’t open his eyes. He can’t. (x)

Biggest surprise while writing this year?

The sense of community in the shameless fandom never fails to surprise me. It's one of my favorite fandoms I've ever been in, and the wonderful people i meet writing and reading and talking about these characters pushes me to keep writing. I don't think I'd still be writing without this lovely community tbh

1. How many words have you written this year? About 35,000 total fic words + 5,200 @galladrabbles ones for every week of the year!

2. How many works did you publish this year? 9 including my currently-cloaked Masquerade fic.

3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits) Might be Groceries that I wrote for last year’s Masquerade, where Mickey wanders the grocery store thinking about the history of their relationship.

4. What work of yours has the most hits? 100-Word One-Shots which is my drabbles collection. But fic-wise, it’s Camp is a Battlefield, co-written for Gallavich Summer Camp.

5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected? The Night Shift probably, since it was just a shorty fic I tried for AUgust.

6. Favorite title you used. Camp is a Battlefield since it’s a funny play on words with our favorite Bon Jovi anthem that also spoke to the whole theme of the story.

7. If you use song lyrics, which artist's songs did you pull from the most? I’m not great about using song lyrics, so it’s always a fun challenge when they’re our Galladrabble prompts. Two of my favorites this year were “Do You Wanna Dance” and "Crash Into Me".

Here it is, the long-awaited Gallavich Gift Exchange 2024!

Please read the rules before signing up. Under a read more because it's rather long.

General rules:

Click here to sign up. You’ll be asked for a prompt for the gift you want to receive. Please notice you will also be required to make a gift for someone else (hence the word exchange). Having a Tumblr account is not mandatory, though it does make things a bit easier.

Once sign-ups close, I’ll be making a list of all the wanted prompts for you to choose what you want. This will be done in a first-come, first-served basis (if by any chance the prompts left are somehow not possible to be completed by the authors/artists left, the people who’ve requested them might be asked to make some changes).

If by any reason you think you won’t be able to finish your gift, let me know as soon as possible so I can find someone else to finish in your place. Please know that in this case it’s possible that the gift being done for you isn’t concluded either.

Let's see... Red, White, and Royal Blue, Gallavich, The Gentlemen (the TV series) and I posted a story for The Old Guard, though it was written three years ago, so that one doesn't really count, does it? 😛

Oh boy... gimme a moment to scroll through AO3 😅 Okay, this one, from Top of the list:

There's something extremely… gratifying – Ian would swoon at the word, the fucking nerd – about living with your boyfriend.

The rest of them - and I kid you not - are extremely short and more or less deliberately misleading. And it's not that I take issue with how I open stories per se, it's just that, in vacuum, they're not that interesting. The one I picked, though, has that little appositive sentence and the endearment in the form of a profanity + insult and I think it's just neat.

🎁 Gallavich Gift Exchange 2024 🎁

Hilariously, when I read the prompts for this one, I kept thinking ‘You know who would draw great art for this? Molly! This would look sooooo good in her style!!’ - Which meant that when @deathclassic was revealed as my giftee I had to rethink everything, as I couldn’t un-see all the prompts I’d been picturing drawn in her own style. 🤦

So I decided to go with a tiny bit of H/C, a bit of Fluff, but mostly PG13 Domesticity, and the boys being all in love with each other…

Their lives may be a bit calmer, but Mickey still gets into plenty of scrapes. And while Ian isn’t a professional EMT anymore, he’ll always be ready with the first aid kit. Especially if it gets him sweet thank you kisses when he is finished!!
