Taika and Rita worked on a short film with & Carlo Van Der Roer that's truly mesmerizing, check it out below: "Toru, 2024 is a collaboration between New Zealand artists / filmmakers Taika Waititi and Carlo Van de Roer. A three channel video installation, inspired by the significance of Tokotoru, or Trinity, in Maori culture, the work weaves together themes of unity -- earth, sea, sky -- and references to mythology, including the Maori myth of Tane retrieving three baskets of knowledge -- the basket of light, the basket of darkness and the basket of pursuit. Each film operates as a different recollection or interpretation of the same performance and space. A filmmaking approach called PlateLight enables the same moment to be captured with different lighting conditions. This results in three versions of the same film, presenting a record of the past as photographically accurate, yet fluid and authorable like myth. == Love Notes ==

Hey there lovelies! It's already Tuesday, and I sure hope you are staying cool as best you can (if you're in the hot part of the world-- and viceversa if you're not!) I wanted to bring up Samson's love note again,

"You deserve someone who is good for your mental health". It really is so true. When it comes to your partner, or your friends, your family, any people that you interact with on the daily-- you deserve people that are good for your mental health.

You don't have to be perfect to deserve it-- you don't even have to be in a good place mentally or physically, you just have to be you-- and you have always deserved it, since the day you were born. I hope if you already have those people, they stay in your life, and if you don't right now, you find those people that make you feel safe and healthy.

I debated sharing my photo op, mainly due to my own self-consciousness about my appearance after decades of fighting various medical disorders. I finally decided to show my own photo because Colin looks so damned good, and I couldn't help but laugh at the difference in my daughters' expressions. My younger daughter just looks so unamused. Oh, to be 13 again...

Anyway, this is 50 yr old me and my girls meeting the handsome Colin O'Donoghue.

My fiancé and I went to Galaxycon this year and I had to draw us in our cute lil outfits.

So earlier this year I won @slashyrogue writing prompts contest on their patreon.

And in that prize I got some buttons while I went to galaxy con Raleigh last week so I pulled out my con bag and added the buttons I've been collecting for the last three years (😂) including my will/Hannibal buttons.

This picture is terrible hold on.

I do get lots of comments and compliments on my buttons but they are subtle so noon yet but its cool.

But I got new ones to add to my bag and other bags too.

I gotta get all my stuff straightened out staring my my room before I can really get my art and other stuff up but that's ok.

This was such a great panel because we got to hear things that he really couldn't prepare for. When one guest asked what the best piece of advice he'd ever been given was, he had to think about that one for a moment and gave a really heartfelt answer. He shared how much he enjoyed spending time with his family, including watching "DuckTales" with his kids, which he said was one of his favorite TV shows as a kid. (The original version, though.) He also named "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon as another favorite.

I would definitely debate him on the whole pineapple on pizza thing. I've had it, thought it was gross, and to this gal who was born and raised in New York State, that's a sacrilege. My California-born teenager agreed with him. (Not sure how she's my kid somedays.)

But the part that is forever burned into my brain will be that little strut he did to INXS. I will never be able to listen to their music without picturing that moment. Thank you, Colin!

GalaxyCon

I should probably post about GalaxyCon before I forget everything, huh? 

My first day was Saturday and I. Was not prepared. Most of the cons I’ve attended are fandom-specific, and can draw large crowds, but nothing compared to this. According to a news article the next day, there were some 50,000 attendees.

I’d originally only planned to go Saturday, but then Colin’s panel was announced for Sunday, so I got another ticket for then. Saturday was spent beating my way through the crowds (or, more accurate, being beaten) - and getting my photo op with Colin.

It’s been four years since I’d last seen him at Enchanted 2, and damn, he looked amazing. The op was brief, because they do thousands of photos in one day, so I barely had time to do more than say ‘hi’ and ‘thank you.’ He thanked me for coming, and at that point I remembered just how blue his eyes were, and how lovely that Irish brogue is, since it’s currently very thick after being in Ireland for so long. Yup, I still swoon for Colin.

I didn’t get an autograph, but a friend did, and I hung around in line with her until were almost to Colin. His line was so long, it wrapped into the next aisle. I’m not sure the staff anticipated his popularity. And while I was in line, someone told Colin how long his line was, and he gave a little “Yeah!” and put up his arms.

Then we have the Sunday panel. I’m trying to remember as much as I can, but I know I’ll miss things. I’ll put it under a cut, since this is starting to run long.

Do people know that song? *pulls out phone to play song* For people who don't because it's very specific to the, uhh, leather... *song starts playing* And I used to walk in like this... We finally made it back home and had a chance to look over the rest of the photos I took at Colin's panel. I quickly edited some of the better ones, and I was happy that most of them came out clear. I did catch a couple of goofy expressions, too.
