For really old-school stuff, there's Galactic Journey, a community of people reliving the science fiction of the 1950s and '60s in real time.

It started out as one guy with a large collection of old science fiction magazines who decided to read them in order on the anniversary of their publication, then he branched out to doing posts about other stuff going on at the time (news of the space race, reviews of movies that were in cinemas at the time, etc), and the community that grew up in the comments started making their own contributions: someone from England reporting on this new show called "Doctor Who", and so on. There's currently a series of active conversations about something called "Star Trek", which recently got renewed for a third season.

Between Dracula Daily happening again and all the posts about enjoying old(er) media during the writers' and actors' strikes going on in Hollywood right now, I feel like there's an opportunity for someone to organize a rewatch of some show, using the original air dates of the episodes as a guide.

I have too much life stuff going on right now to do it myself, but if you've heard of someone doing this (or you're inspired to do it yourself), share in the notes?

So far in the story, it’s only Giovanni, Cyrus, Ghetsis, and Volo! (Everyone is shiny except Cyrus so far, which I find very funny)

My latest post, that is my post on Order 66, is a response to another post actually. I’m not really interested in that part of the lore. By and large, I’m never too keen on lore diving when it comes to Jedi philosophy and the Jedi purge. I think the Jedis are popular enough, meaning there have been vast discussions done about them which I don’t know where to begin with and I don’t know what I can contribute meaningfully to—unlike when it comes to Palpatine for example. Order 66 is also something very popular, both the franchise runners and fans have discussed it extensively—some people even complained of Order 66 fatigue—and frankly, it is something cut and dry: Palpatine, a dude from an opposition philosophy/religion, took power and slaughtered the Jedi. But apparently, it is not.

Basically, I encountered a post that denied Order 66 as genocide and was very hostile toward the Jedi. Having been a Star Wars fan on Tumblr for a while, I don’t think these are unusual. But then it got a little crazy when… let’s just say OP blurred fiction and real-world events too much, outright condoning real-world genocide on certain religious groups, dehumanization was aplenty, going as far as calling said groups “parasites” and saying it is merely getting rid of pests when you eradicate them. At the end of it all, they accused people who are pro-Jedi, not only the extreme part of that camp, and even people who are casual about this whole Jedi business but are against Order 66, as supporters, nay, part of this real parasitic religious group. They said such people should just die. They also called the Jedi Nazis.

There is a part of me that wants to believe it was an act of trolling, but it mixed up real-world and fiction too much…. Ish, it was just lowkey disturbing. I still let out a gobsmacked chuckle when I try to remember what the words were.

I suggest you all check out the post especially the reblogs section. It is fucking wild, pardon my French, it is fucking WILD. We got colonialism down there, we got the Nazis, we got religion, and of course we got Star Wars. I don’t put up links to it or straightforwardly reblog it because… because I’m a cowardly bastard and online fights are exhausting. So, check it for yourselves

P.S.: that definition is a little skewed in comparison to the Convention because of its exclusivity (“…minority”.) whereas the Convention is inclusive. But anyway…

This is the portrait that hangs over the Team Galactic mantleplace after his presumed death in the anime. I. I have so many questions.

Why is it carved? Of all the mediums, you guys couldn't get like, a photo, or an oil painting? Of your beloved leader? Who did you commission to craft a stone relief portrait of a dangerous criminal? Did one of the grunts do it? How did they decide on the one medium that makes Cyrus look even gaunter and 0.2 seconds closer to death than usual??

Was this in his will. "In the event of my death, I bequeath to Team Galactic the 1.5 ton stone slab bearing my visage that currently hangs in my kitchen. Please install it in the headquarters, and look to it in times of need."

Journey: A Quest for Galactic Power, was one of several board games without miniatures released by Grenadier Models in 1980 in their "Great Little Games Line," all with Martin Kealey cover art. Their term "midi game" indicated these were larger than other companies' microgames or minigames but smaller than a full sized Avalon Hill or SPI bookshelf game.

Why must I villain au everything I touch??

This page of little doodles was a lot of fun! I started off just drawing Chloé and then her as a Team Galactic member just sort of happened! I kinda made it up as I went lol, but I got really attached to the concept lol.

Basically it would be dependant on Chloe never getting her Eevee or any other Pokémon, and instead more grew to resent them. Everyone had so many expectations of her growing up to be like her dad, and he paid more attention to pokémon then her (not to mention Goh and Ash seeing him more often then she did), eventually culminating in that one episode where her parents cancel their family trip last minute because of Pokémon work and so Chloe goes to Sinnoh alone.

But instead of meeting Dawn there, she meets Cyrus and Team Galactic. I think Cyrus’s whole ‘human emotion and spirit cause suffering so let’s make a world without it’ thing would resonate with her, and she’d join the team, quickly rising the ranks to Commander (much to the chagrin of the other Commanders lol)

Then the Team Rocket Goh idea is something completely different lol, less of an actual au and more of just a two part episode spanning idea. Basically Ash and Goh run into Giovanni and since he’s a Kanto gym leader they end up giving him a tour of Cerise labs. He’s super impressed by how many Pokémon Gohs caught, and so later has some grunts kidnap him and use Hypnos to make him think he was always a Team Rocket member (think season 5 Carmen Sandiego). So then Ash and Chloe have to team up with Jessie and James to get Goh back to normal before it’s too late!

As you can tell I had a lot of fun with these lol
