Taiyuu Round 1
It’s finally here! Ameko is in school and she’s here to win >:3
Today might have been the most perfect day Ameko had seen in a long time.
In the training field, the newly-planted grass was a bright green that seemed to cushion under her feet while she walked, as if telling Ameko that she was welcome to go wherever she pleased. The sun was bright and shining, bouncing off of her and her classmates encouragingly. There were a lot of them, and while Ameko had already memorized a few names (she caught a glance of the cute ghost boy from the exam, the one Ameko had since bribed Lana-chan to tell her the name of, shyly talking to another student), she couldn’t help but marvel at all of the different kinds of people that gathered in the group.
Beside her, she walked next to the two kids who had seemed the nicest in the class; Hiyasu-chan and Tokei-kun were shy, but didn’t seem annoyed by the addition of a bright girl who could talk their ear off and and ask question and question about What do you use for your hair, Hiyasu-chan, it’s so fluffy just like mine! and Tokei-kun, you can speed up anything? What about the time something takes to cook?
Hiyasu-chan looked distracted next to Ameko, her eyes lingering on one of the 1-B students. She was taller than the rest of the crowd, and looked intimidating.
“Ah, what is it, Hiyasu-chan?” Ameko asked softly, looking over and tilting her head slightly. Hiyasu-chan eeped, breaking from her concentration, before blushing and quickly looking at the ground. “O - oh, uhm… I guess I - I just… Well, she looks… Pretty… And strong…” She blushed harder, her hand in Ameko’s getting colder with her nervousness. Ameko took another look at the scary girl, and saw what Hiyasu-chan meant.
It was almost funny; at her old school, the other kids wouldn’t have wanted to have a conversation about crushes with her. They wouldn’t want to stand next to her, or hold her hand, not like Taiyuu.
Ameko enjoyed it.
She could hear the class settle because of what she assumed to be the two teachers, but this far in the back it was impossible for Ameko to see. She bounced on her heels, debating on whether or not to use her quirk, when a hand settled on her shoulder.
“Do you need help, Tokachi-kun?”
Tokei-kun’s face was neutral, but Ameko could pick out certain traces of emotions. A little bit of parental concern, maybe some curiosity. Ameko looked back to the front before blushing faintly.
“I can’t see this far back. Ah, Tokei-kun, you’re tall! Can you help me?”
Without warning, Ameko was lifted up over Tokei-kun and shifted so that she was sitting on their shoulders. They remained calm, their flowy hair ticking Ameko’s arms and making her smile. Across the way, she could see the faintest trace of a smile from Lana. Ameko beamed back.
Ameko watched as the two teachers stood in the front, and her own, Kyokkou-sensei, bounced slightly where she stood, with a sunny smile and an even sunnier attitude. The teachers explained the rules with a kind of confidence and clarity that made Ameko feel safe and relaxed.
“So, first up, Tokachi and Gakusa!” Kyokkou-sensei smiled at Ameko, flashing a thumbs up and an encouraging, “Good luck!”
The pavement of the arena was sturdy and supportive under Ameko’s feet. She twisted her hair into a bun and studied the boy across from her, taller and analyzing Ameko was a neutral face. He reminded Ameko a little bit of Lana-chan; he had her hard look, and her cold aura, although a little cooler. While Lana-chan was a nice breeze on a hot day, wandering and comforting, Gakusa-chan was more like an ice pack, soothing.
Ameko held her hand out, letting the crisp spring air dance on her fingers as it waited. Without hesitation, Gakusa-chan shook it, giving the smaller girl a slight nod.
“Good luck, Tokachi-kun.”
“Good luck Gakusa-chan!”
As the teachers yelled go, Ameko jumped back, letting her feet skid on the ground right before the boundary. She figured the fight should be easy enough; she’s fast with her quirk, almost as much as Lana-chan, and Gakusa-chan didn’t look particularly muscular.
Gakusa-chan crouched down, his eyes trained on Ameko. Ameko rushed forward, but just as she went to push him out of the way, he sidestepped. Ameko stumbled for a quick second. She whipped around, stepping back just as Gakusa-chan went to grab her.
Ameko jumped back, keeping her eyes trained on Gakusa-chan. Don’t let him out of your sight. Being observant wasn’t something Ameko was natural with, not by a long shot. But time after time after time, it was a learned habit, one she needed to win. Lana-chan had taught her as much, days afterschool in the field near their houses, where the two girls would train, and train, and train until they were sweating.
Ameko went to swipe her feet under Gakusa-chan’s. He moved out of the way. Ameko took a step back.
Many people looked at Ameko and Lana-chan and saw two very different girls. They saw Lana-chan, a girl who’s attitude yelled focused and driven, someone who had a goal and was making the necessary steps to achieve it. They saw Ameko, drifting along like a dandelion in the wind, wandering in the wind without a clear goal.
You’d make a good hero, Ameko. You could save a lot of people, if you wanted to.
What people forgot about dandelions, though, was that they actually had a purpose. For all of their drifting, all of the hope and the wishing, dandelions got one step closer to making a difference. To grow into their own plant, to give more wishes, to live.
Gakusa-chan dodged Ameko again. They got closer to the edge.
Ameko, for all of her drifting, had a purpose, too. She needed to make the world a place where as many adults as possible could be there, accountable and helping. Ameko wanted to be one of those people.
On the side, Ameko picked out a conversation between Lana-chan and another classmate, sunny and bright with a lazy smile.
“Oh! Childhood friends, huh, Ogura?”
Never let your eyes leave your partner. Ameko kept her eyes locked on Gakusa-chan, but he looked over, straightening for a split second.
A second was all Ameko needed.
With a squeal, Ameko hopped forward, using her momentum to push Gakusa-chan out of the ring. He hit the floor first with a thud. Because Gakusa-chan was significantly taller than Ameko, his head was firmly outside while Ameko sprawled out inside of the arena. Her chest thumped like a rabbit’s, quick and excited.
“Tokachi wins!”
Ameko stood up, brushing the dirt off of her shirt. She saw Gakusa-chan still on the floor, rubbing the back of his head, and reached her hand out.
“Ah! Here, Gakusa-chan. Sorry if I hit you too hard.”
Gakusa-chan took her hand and stood up, towering over here. He studied her carefully. “Your quirk is really interesting, Tokachi-kun.”
Ameko beamed. “Aaaah, thank you, Gakusa-chan! I’m sure yours is great, too.”
“It’s called Status. I can tell you more about it sometime.” The two of them started walking over to a small table off to the side, set up with water and little snacks. Ameko took a sip of water before shoving a handful of little candies into her mouth.
“Are you free this weekend? There’s a really nice cat cafe not too far from here in Tokyo! I’ve only been there once, but it was really cool.”
“That sounds fun, Tokachi-kun. Sure.” Gakusa-chan paused. “How did you come up with your strategy?”
“My what?” Ameko blinked.
“The pattern when you fight. It’s specific.”
“I don’t do any kind of pattern on purpose, Gakusa-chan.”
“Is there someone you regularly train with?”
Ameko looked back to Lana-chan, who was approaching the arena with a girl Ameko was all too familiar with. Takakutou-chan looked cocky, sauntering and grinning. She had the same smug look back at the exam, when she had bullied Seisei-chan.
“Oh, I guess I do.”
Lana-chan’s eyes met Ameko’s, and like second nature, her hands lifted to sign what she knew her heart had wanted to say.
Win.

Round 2: Tamashi vs Ameko!
@taiyuu-high-oct
Tamashi is going to die. Again. For the 50,000,000th time. A cool wind blows by and he sudders, still not used to the Taiyuu gym shorts showing off his scarred legs to the world. “I hope Laccadaisy makes some long gym pants soon....” Tamashi is with the rest of 1B, hanging near the back as they walk to the Sundown Zone. He hears vague discussions about plans of attack and some loud bickering. Tamashi closes his eyes and sighs, anxiety creeping up his throat.
“Hey, are you ok?” Tamashi jumps, shaking the thoughts away and finding that Senshi is walking next to him “Are you still anxious?” Tamashi nods slowly, looking down “Hey- I’m sure you’ll do great! We made the cotton candy cookies after all!” Senshi smiles at him, and Tamashi can’t help but smile back. “Th-thank you Senshi-san…” A blush creeps onto Tamashi’s face as Senshi rejoins their conversation with Gakusa and Kiru, trying to stop the two from throwing down then and there. “Why are they so nice to me…”
Laccadaisy’s voice rings out “Welcome first years, to the Sundown Zone!” She turns and throws an arm up to show off the area. The Sundown Zone was a mess of buildings in a city-like landscape. The sheer amount of detail put into it sends waves of excitement over everyone, Tamashi included. As Laccadaisy started to explain the rules, Tamashi couldn't help but zone out, looking at the buildings in anticipation. "And here's who you're fighting!"
"Ah!-" Tamashi jumps as a large screen pops up from the ground, displaying everyone's names brightly. When Tamashi got to his name he froze. "Tokachi-chan…"
He looked to his left and flinched when he saw Ameko staring right back at him. She sent him a warm smile that he returned, albeit a bit shaky as his blush returned. "Dammit! Get a hold of yourself!" Tamashi shakes his head and looks back to Laccadaisy.
"Now! Your homeroom teachers will take you to your areas- don't kill each other and have fun!" Laccadaisy beams and waves the kids goodbye, walking off to what Tamashi assumes is a spectators area.
"Alright 1A! Come with me!"
"Follow me 1B."
Tamashi lets out a nervous sigh and grabs his sleeve tightly, drifting into his anxious thoughts until a warm voice snapped him out of it.
"Good luck Seisei-chan!" Ameko had walked up to him, smiling.
"Th-thank you Tokachi-chan, good luck t-to you too!"
------------------
Tamashi and Ameko stand on opposite sides of the field, their view of each other obscured by a tall building in the middle of the field. Tamashi guesses the building has about 5 or 6 floors. The orb wasn’t in plain sight so the two both came to the conclusion that the orb was in the building.
“Ready!”
Tamashi leans down, getting ready to run.
“Set!”
He needs to go as fast as he can, Ameko can outrun him. “Don’t forget to breathe-”
“GO!”
Tamashi sprints as fast as he can towards the building. He can hear Ameko yelling at what he presumes is her classmate. “Codenames? That’s a good idea… even if it’s bondage-san.” As he runs he sees Senshi about to be tackled by Yuu. Swallowing his anxiety he calls out “S-Senshi! Behind you!” Senshi whips around and dives out of the way, sending a quick smile and a thumbs up to Tamashi. He looks back towards the building and is happy to hear that Ameko is still distracted.
Tamashi runs through the wall of the building and takes no time searching for the orb, jumping up through to the next floor when he couldn’t find it. On the third floor Tamashi finally finds the orb, nestled nicely in a cardboard box. Tamashi freezes as he hears Ameko enter the building. “I need to go- now!” Tamashi looks to a window and decides to repeat his entrance exam, but the difference being the window can actually open and it doesn’t make nearly as much noise. And out the window Tamashi goes! He flips and activates his floating which slows down his fall, and pushes him towards his goal. When Tamashi’s feet hit the ground he breaks out into a sprint again.
Looking to his left, Tamashi can see Moya struggling to get the orb from Tsuki. Tamashi slows down for a second and focuses, lifting his arm up and to the right. The orb flies up from Tsuki’s grip and flies towards Moya, who catches it with a cloud, nodding in thanks. Tamashi smiles and plows forward. “Almost there!”
Until Senshi’s voice rings out.
“Seishin behind you!”
Tamashi turns around to see Ameko going for a tackle. Tamashi holds the orb up high and makes his torso incorporeal, Ameko flying through him. Ameko rolls and goes for another attack, choosing to go for a punch to the stomach this time. Tamashi sidesteps and drops to the ground, leg sweeping out and knocking Ameko off her feet. “Sorry!” Tamashi yells out as he runs to the goal while Ameko gets to her feet. He looks over his shoulder to see her getting ready for another pounce.
But it’s too late. Tamashi is over the finish line. And he drops the orb in shock. “I won? I won!”
Ameko half hopped her way over, only just fully processing what just happened. “Congrats Seisei-chan! I’ll have to try harder next time haha!” She bounced on her feet.
Tamashi laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck. “Ah well… I don’t think I d-did too well…”
“Nonse-sense!” Ameko stomped her foot in mock-anger “You won! Now let's go get changed!”
“O-okay…”
------------------
Tamashi’s normally light and floating hair is currently flat against his back, wet from the shower. His fringe covers half of his face, making him look like The Grudge. He sits in between Senshi and Ameko, unwrapping a cotton candy cookie from last night and taking a bite. This catches Ameko’s interest, leaning on Tamashi’s shoulder “Hey Seisei-chan, what’s that? It looks good...”
Tamashi jumps in surprise at the contact “Oh! It’s a c-cotton candy cookie, Senshi-san let me help them make some last n-night. They’re really t-tasty...” At the mention of their name, Senshi looks at the two and joins in.
“I’m glad you like them!” Senshi smiles “I had a lot of fun making them with you!”
“Uwah! Senshi-chan you should teach me too!”
“Ah! Sure uh-”
Tamashi smiles as the conversation dwindles into Ameko begging Senshi for cotton candy cookies.
“Is this what it feels like to have friends?”
“I love it…”

Taiyuu spar: Moya vs Yuu
Taiyuu- @taiyuu-high-oct Nanako Yuu- @artibun Kemuri Moya- me There was huffing, the cold but airy dust had now paved away. Slowly revealing the result. A man loomed over someone else, bamboo-like stick in hand. His brows were furrowed, but not in a bad way. Instead, it was the worrying kind that was on his expression. The middle of the arena was frozen, as the air chilled to such an extent you could see your breath pretty clearly as you exhaled. In the long, but thin chilling silence that followed after Senshi Yasashii and Hiyasu Shimokizu’s fight, a loud, but distant clapping can be heard. It came from one of the two taiyuu teachers who had watched and spectated this fight.
“Ooho man!~ What~ a~ fight!! You both did very well, no matter who came out triumphant!” Exclaimed the 1-A teacher, the hero Aurora, was ecstatic with how this spar had been, watching it was like you were on a roller coaster! It was said the same with the other battles so far. As they had both been unexpected. These students were full of surprises! Though her student had lost, the many paths paved for potential, and growth was there. She gave a bitter smile as Shimokizu had lost the round, despite the powerful quirk usage.
Another voice joined in, coming from the 7ft tall hero, Wolfsboon. The 1-B teacher of taiyuu, the enemy of 1-A’s teacher. Crossing his arms, he talked. “Hmph. Honestly, 1-B gained a winning victory, was both unexpected and quite up to par.” Solemnly stated the monotone but serious Wolfsboon. During the spar, he was surprised again and again. He had seen quite the potential out of the quirkless student, Yasashii, in this match. “It seems the principle found quite the unexpected but skillful student. Weak in natural power, but does make up for it in skill. How prosperous.” He commented with a small smile as Yasashii helped Shimozuki up from her icy collapsed position. Both shook hands, bowing to each other, making small talk, and going their separate ways. The duo exited the boxy but greyed arena.
During that fight, both enemy and frenemy students had cheered the two on. Making critique comments on the two sparrers. Also throwing insults and comments at one another in the spectating border. Especially 1-B’ exemplary student: Ozen Fujinuma and 1-A’ boisterous student: Takakutou Shakou. The two had clashed head-to-head on a one on one battle of words! Yo mama jokes and nasty insults that brought up the weaknesses of some students when they each had their spar. But for now, it was a tie. For now…
As the two went opposite ways their classmates both congratulated and commented on the fight. Some were good, some were critiques on the fight. One student, Tokachi Ameko, had gotten the task of bringing Shimozuki to the nurse’s office. Senshi had volunteered to help as he was responsible for the gal’ over usage of her quirk. Making her body’s temperature drop. She was chilled, freezing, almost cold to the touch. But, both students of opposite classes did agree the whole thing was unexpected, the hype during the battle was like a rollercoaster ride. Though loud clap was heard as it quieted down the chatter. “M’kay! Now remember kiddos, this is a spar. We’re not here to kill each other! But do keep up the spunk you little rascals!” Aurora stated happily and loudly. Though the spars are coming to an end, the two teachers now know what’s needed to be done!
Help identify and point out the student’ weaknesses, have them come up with ways to get rid of those weaknesses. They would exert the growth and development of these guys, making them fine heros. “Hmm~ now this is quite the revelation! Next up is: Moya Kemuri and Nanako Yuu.” Exclaimed the feisty Aurora. Meanwhile, Wolfsboon furrowed and twitched a brow, giving a frown. Moya, that cloud kid who always slept in class. It didn’t bother him much, except for the fact the kid was tired all the time that it was unpleasant. He’s spotted moya sleeping outside, always on a cloud, every damn time. I mean if he was that tired then why bother coming to class? Though teaching was unpleasant, at least stay up for it if you were to waste his time. He gave a silent huff as he folded his arms once again, dipping his head backward, facing the clear blue sky. “Let's see if the sleeping kid has the potential per the same as the others” he stated in a serious but quiet tone.
Meanwhile, in the 1-B spectator area, was Moya Kemuri himself. And boy, was his expression stressed! Anxiety was lingering in his eyes as he was daunting over the fact he might disappoint his classmates! I mean c’ mon-! This was his first fight after all! And on the first day of school as well? It made his pull at his bushy ponytail.. he could feel his anxiety in the pit of the stomach. During Senshi and Shimozuki’s spar, Moya was quiet and didn’t join the others in talking much. But his eyes were sparkling, a starry gaze as how cool Senshi was when they fought to win. Gakusa’ was second because of that unexpected encyclopedia. He did, however, worry for Shimozuki because man- she looked like she would die from making the air too cold. Her skin turning pale with bits of ice stuck onto it, small shivers worsened the more she fought with her quirk.
Now his name being called made him jolt, flinch even. As his thought process snapped. Eyes were on him now- and damn sure he isn’t ready for them to be. As chatter from earlier quieted down. The clouds on his head were turning into a mixed gradient of dark gray black and light blue. He had always worn a cloth masked over his mouth and nose. Not because he has something to hide oh no- mainly because his stress makes him hyperventilate. Others beforehand had commented on the hyperventilation as ‘rude’ ‘weird’ and a ‘what’s your deal?’ for a variety of reasons. Others had just shifted away from him and gave him looks. So to hide it, he covers it up. Everything went better after that, so now he’ll just cover it up. He stepped onto the arena, stairs were there to get up on it. Think of it as a wrestling arena type of thing. He looked around, still worrisome, as his opponent, Nanako, had climbed up on stage.
He raised an eyebrow at the gold-colored wings. Oh, those were quite pretty! Though it seems Yuu was making a firm and determined facial expression. A stubborn one looking ready to fight like it’s her last breath. However, Moya just wore a shocked and distressed expression. He did not want this fight to go on- so he furrowed his brows. He set his sights on being determined to end this the moment the fight started. M’kay! Now as always start the battle on the count of three!~” shouted the ecstatic aurora. “1!~” Moya was readying himself, calming his nerves as his clouds had turned a shade of yellow-orange.
The 1-B students were packed with tension. Not many of them even knew Moya pretty well, better yet know who he even is. So all they can do is, see who’s going to win. Of course, throw insults at the enemy class during this fight. “2!~” Nanako still had that determined expression, as she stared down her tall opponent, moya. A slick drop of sweat dripped down from her right cheek. As she too, was readying herself for this fight and ongoing tension. “3~ -!!!”Aurora didn’t even get to finish the sentence as Moya had already initiated this fight. He had made a quick but airy stance as he clenched the air around his hand. Making the veins of his open hand pop out if you look closely and arch his fingers. Two thick greyed but dulled and charred clouds came from his arm. They were jolting and packed with bold yellow electricity! Flickering here and there you can barely see it as you blink. As it was summoned from Moya's forearm, it connected with h. Resulting in it going straight for Nanako’s neck. As it was about to close in on Nanako's face, she jumped. Her reflexes getting the better of her as she bolted up and off the ground. She only moved by instinct, seeing the cloud at the last minute. Her face was pale. 'I didn't even see that!' she thought, panic binding her facial expression as her brows furrowed. Currently, she was but a few feet up into the air. And it was quite true, the fast and furious cloud was all but a deep black blur to the spectators. The spectating students let out gasps, some cooed in amazement, some thought it was quite the surprise.
As she flew Nanako was thinking of a plan, anything. Should she retaliate and edge on Moya in fighting more? No no. He's a fellow student of Taiyuu,... and she'd probably have a guilty conscience of doing it to this guy. So she decided on dodging. Up until she can find the right time to strike. So in the midst of it, she was chased around by the two clouds of bolted lightning. Making her lose stamina, so after ten minutes of this awful chase, she stopped. Flying up at the fastest, remaining speed she could muster. The clouds followed of course, but Nanako did a short spin- stopping her flight and letting herself drop. Having a leg positioned to the ground, as she fell through the two clouds. Both dissipitated, mainly because they kept on going upward, Moya didn't react in time to stop and move them. But as she fell Moya clicked his tongue, snapping his fingers and muttering a 'sorry.' As the seemingly-dissipated clouds reconnected with each other. Their splotches of fluffs going back to form, smashing against each other from behind Nanako. The Nanako who was trying to stop her gravitating fall... Utterly striking one of the wings, the top half at least. Yuu then let out a quick but loud shriek. as she stopped her movements and grabbed the cut wing. She felt like she had been struck by a large pin of lightning! So she stopped all movement focusing on the wing.
This resulted in Nanako falling to the ground before she fell she was near Kemori and upon falling she managed to grip her body's direction. Which was, afoot to kick moya in the face with. I mean her body was going haywire- in the air at least. She tried to flap and move it but without the other end, she moved in a diagonal direction. Because you know what? She didn't want to go down without a fight. So she's decided to kick moya in the face and, he was in a daze from exhaustion. So when he saw her foot inches from his face he just stood there in motion, letting himself roll back and crash. And this made Nanako go "Eh!?" Comments of how this was ...an odd thing to happen. With the 2B Ozen commenting on how slow the guy's reaction was. Sure he's got a good amount of power, but it drains his energy and hinders his reaction. A thing hero's needed. Another thing that the cloud kid needed to work on, it was troublesome. Even Wolfhard was stunned...
But as Moya laid there another odd thing happened. The ground reverberated, as moya's seemingly unconscious body started to hyperventilate. He was shivering- his whole body was. As his pupils were going up and down, in and out. He was blinking in and out of consciousness. Eyes were white, he started breathing more rapidly convulsing even, as the clouds on his head disappeared. a flashback appeared. This made Nanako panic even more- oh god- she didn't think this guy would have such spasms after getting kicked in the face.
Smiling faces. the two older brothers and his twin, Kanato. But Kanato looked like Lin- It went black. It was like watching a movie- a dream of some sort. As he turned to his left. Confused and wide-eyed, he saw the twins as children. He was standing in front of a short but white-greyed playground brick wall. Plants behind him and such as he was battered and bruised. moya squinted as he was making a worrisome face. He couldn't see this scene very well- it was blurry. He pondered and wore a nervous smile. As he started running he slowly came to a stop. His whole expression dropped, he looked like he was seeing something unbelievable. Younge Moya was- suffocating three others. It was a flashback on the entrance exam- but a continuation of it. It was where the young moya was wearing a darkened expression as it looked down on the three who were starting to choke and gag. Suffocation at its finest as there was a ring or large clouds around them. Parents trying to break in, the children clawing the clouds to get out. With a young Lin, collapsed on the ground behind the younger moya. A bright red handprint and some dirt on the kid. It seems the younger moya had seen his twin gets hurt.
But now the kids in those kids' faces were turning purple. A wave of panic hit as he ran over to the kids wide-eyed. Moya was all shakey, anxiety was found on his expression as he entered the scene. touching the clouds as one obeyed and vanished. The kid collapsed completely, passing out. But as he was reaching for the other cloud, the small Moya had appeared in front of his face. Everything had gone black, the younger version had an explicted face that was covered in a seemingly black bundle of doodles. It tilted its head at him. Moya was going to question the smaller one when all of a sudden he was tackled by hands? He panicked more as he was being dragged, halfway as he grabbed ahold of the floor. Positioning himself as he leaned forward, an arm down and hand near it. Grabbing the floor. Everything had turned dark, the younger moya slowly turning his attention to the older, present one. The younger one leaned in but...present Moya couldn't see the exact facial expression from the mouth. He did freeze in place. Moya made a desperate face and frown, as the younger one cracked a devilish and sinister smile behind that bundle. He stopped, his desperate expression worsening to fear as childish laughter chimed in. The younger one stopped. Approaching and setting a foot onto Moya's forehead, swiftly pushed Moya into the hole as everything blackened. He felt fear, a terrible one. As he started to go deeper and deeper...thoughts, words, phrases, from Lin came in. A desperate attempt at hope? Maybe. He didn't know as he kept falling and falling, deeper and deeper into the hole.
Nanako had backed away since the more or so subconscious moya started hyperventilating more, along with the fact the ground was shaking. She then winced in pain, clicking her tongue and biting her lip. One of her wings were cut and damaged! Making her remember those terrible, terrible flashbacks on when her wings were cut and ripped off as she blacked in and out. She bent over as she stood and gripped her head. Man these, hurt, painful too. Her being held harshly and restrained- to tear off the dazzling golden wings. She subconsciously backed away, an eyebrowed raised and she held her arm out to act as a shield if anything fatal happened. She was in a defensive stance, but moya then stopped convulsing. She still gripped her head but hesitantly lowered her arms to a slight degree. She was starting to worry about the man, maybe she should see if he's ok... I mean this was a spar, and because of the guy's reaction, she thought she broke something...Nanako was going to check up on the cloud kid, she even started to hesitantly approach him. ..But all of a sudden clouds of all kinds filled the arena. Surrounding the butterfly-quirk user as clouds of lightning, gas, acid rain, storm, etc filled up and kept on filling up. Some merged when they touched, but the result was quite a large multicolored and sickly looking cloud.
Taking up space as much as the arena itself. "What the-!!" Nanako yelled before they all attacked at the same time. Students in the spectating ring braced themselves for the impact, but then a loud voice cut in. Making everyone stop, even the cloud itself. "Nanako Yuu is immobilized! The winner is Kemuri Moya!!" Aurora stated as she cut the eery silence. The cloud stopped, and as it stopped it started to evaporate. At the end of the dust-like evaporation, Moya was there. Standing in the same spot he was kicked into and convulsed in. It put Nanako in a daze, furrowing her eyebrows, before snapping out of the minute-long daze she panicked while giving a smile that seemed to be confused as what had just happened. What caused Moya to stand back up though? Her martial arts skills surely hit him, he even fell at the kick she gave when she couldn't keep herself in the air.
"Wh- what-... Is there something wrong?? Did I do something wrong??" Stated the still full of spirit and confused, Nanako. A drop of sweat was located on her right cheek. She had been trying to push the idea of the pain coming from the half ripped wing.
"No No. there is nothing wrong. It's just that with your wings being cut, and Kemuri' clouds surrounding you, both equal to being immobilized." Wolfhard stepped in and talked in a stern voice as he approached the two. He wore a frown. His eyes were arched and narrowing at Nanako. Her the top left wing was completely torn off, a messy rip though... He then turned at the conscious but confused moya. "...Kemuri. Go take Nanako to the infirmary to see the nurse." He stated clearly, though passing by the furrowed and concerned moya. He stated something else, quietly and with a low growl. "Take better care of your control. Otherwise, we'd have to restrain and treat you as a villain. You did in fact, almost kill a fellow student with that mystery power box of a quirk." He stated quietly, whereas only moya could hear. There was a disappointment and a serious but angry tone to his voice. Moya could hear it, as he too- was disappointed in himself. It seems all those clouds had merged collectively, forming a hideous black bolted cloud, but stopped once Moya woke up from Aurora announcing him the winner.
He bit his tongue as he looked down. "...Yes sir." He replied sadness was in his tone as he looked over at Nanako. She was in confusion, as she tempted to make her way to the nurse's office herself. Stumbling in the process, before moya summoned a cloud under her to catch the fall. Seems that the damage from the wing was recuperating to her head. Making her feel lightheaded, looks like she pushed off the pain. Making Moya concerned, but didn't say anything as the two made their way to the nurses' office.

Exam day
@taiyuu-high-oct
3.7k below, Refrenced/used in it: Tokachi Ameko (refrenced), Suzuki Popi, Ogura Svetlana, Masaki Sako, Gakusa Oh, Yamazaki Yui, Kottoba Kiru (actually named), Crona, Kenzou, Koatsu Arakan, Jane Watson, Fujimoto Anika
Stepping off the train Ozen finds herself shuffling around the docks trying to find where she is supposed to go. The main gate into Taiyuu proper is shut with a big arrow pointing applicants to go further down the dock. While Ozen is early she’s not the only one, some rabbit girl seems to be angrily going at it with a girl with pigtails and the most shit-eatiest of grins. Workers shoo them along as they are disrupting the “Feel better” area. “Feel better” is repeated on the sign they put up that has a happy dog design on it. Odd but whatever, Ozen continues down the dock stopping when she sees a giant cave opening, multiple lit signs pointing to it a clear indicator she found the testing location and heads in.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More applicants have shuffled in at this point, Ozen thankful for her stature and don’t fuck with me aura, as her sister describes it, is able to take her place in front of the raised stage. The volume of the enclosed space almost gets to be too much when the abrupt loud sound of a microphone silences the room, everyone looking towards the direction from where it originated, the stage. The man, who Ozen parsed as having a deer mutant class quirk, stood stock-still, like a... deer in headlights, obviously not expecting the sound or the sudden attention of everyone in the room.
The Deer man seemed to get over the blunder, shaking himself off and introducing themselves to the crowd, “A-apologies for that. I’m Buckskin, the Vice Principle of Taiyuu, and I would like to start by congratulating you all for passing the written exam you took off site and earning a spot here in today’s entrance exam. Anyone bringing outside equipment or gear, must have it approved by our head of support, situated by the cave’s entrance. While that finishes up, Lacca-daisy our principle will explain the exam.”
With his part done, the hero moved to the side of the stage to give room to the principle who… wasn’t there. If this bothered the VP, he was great at hiding it as the crowd started to get uncomfortable with the lack of speaker, eventually giving his watch a slight scowl.
The roof began to shake as a small opening forms popping out said late principle who landed on the stage with a flourish. Not perturbed by her own tardiness, Lacca-daisy decked out in her hero outfit and looking like she had been using her quirk all morning if the faint layering of dirt is any indication, grabs the mic. “Welcome prospective students!” she may be covered in dirt but the smile she gives the crowd is blinding “This portion of the exam will be an obstacle course the likes of which other hero schools could only dream of!” She motions to the previously blank screen behind her as a diagram pops up of what appears to be a 2d view of the island, the room cavern they are currently in blinking to show where they were.
“Instead of being some linear race, the exam is split up into separate layered rooms! Once the exam begins each room will have one gate in it and your goal is to get through it!”
An animation pops up on screen of what appears to be pixel versions of the VP, the head of support, and two other heroes Ozen didn’t know in a final fantasy styled battle against a giant version of a dog she faintly recalls seeing around.
“Everyone is competing to get through a gate, even if they have to work together against obstacles”
The animation continues with the unnamed Mohawk pixel fighter choosing to attack the enemy which the animation portrays as giving them a tummy rub, defeating the boss. Pixel VP’s turn has them selecting the “bound” ability resulting in them jumping through the once blocked gate, a stone door shutting right after them.
“Once an applicant is through a gate, they pass! It isn’t over for the rest though!”
Black holes open up under the remaining pixel fighters surprising them as they fall through.
“Anyone not through a gate falls to the next level and the struggle to get through a gate starts anew with new competition!”
The previous diagram pops up showing the initial room spider webbing down into more rooms that do the same, representing the theoretical progress of applicants during the exam.
“The exam gets less difficult as you descend levels, getting through a gate whether at the top or the bottom is treated equally because of this!”
Murmurs of confusion are heard throughout the crowd
Smirking as if expecting this type of response she continues “Just like in the heroing world, if you can end a situation quickly you should do so, and if you can’t, endure till you do!”
That garnered a more positive response as just the mention of actual heroing psyches some whoops from the crowd. Her smile shifted eerily quick, carrying a serious presence and tone that halts the excitement.
“Physically harming other applicants on purpose will result in immediate disqualification. The only exception is if you make it to the last room which will be denoted by green lighting, your final chance to get through a gate at that point…”
The switch back to her ray of sunshine smile is as sudden and abrupt as the previous
“Alright! Before we get started I just have to go over some procedures!”
This is actually going okay Kazumi Shunsuke aka the hero Buckskin aka the vice principle thought, switching between watching Chikyu and scanning the crowd.
The start could have gone better leaving me hanging like that but it’s going okay! All these applicants brimming with potential, Taiyuu is in go-
Kazumi’s thoughts are cut short when his gaze lands on a particularly affectionate display and in the front row no less!
Wha- kids these days are so forward! No shame, don’t they know they’ll be separated in the exam now? Growing a slight blush he turns to his tablet, taking quick note of the applicants.
What an interesting take on an entrance exam, will definitely be more interesting than UA’s Ozen thinks listening intently to Lacca-daisy’s explanation on how to resign if you are in a room.
It’s at that moment that she catches movement from the VP in the corner of her eye,
Huh? What spooked him?
Her attempts to follow his gaze only makes her realize he is staring at HER. She tries to turn and its then that she notices someone is
Playing
With
Her
Hair.
She makes eye contact with the blue pink heterochromatic girl. . . .
There is only silence between them as the shorter girl continues to smile, unperturbed from her previous task of playing with the taller’s hair.
Ozen just turns back and continues to listen, catching the smaller girl doing so as well albeit hair still in hand. Well Kasumi did mention I should be more friendly.. At least attempt to make friends…
Buckskin gives Lacca-daisy a thumbs up from his side of the stage.
Ah that’s the cue, time to get this show on the road.
“Seems like everyone is checked in, so before we let you off to your starting rooms I’ll leave you with this, the great hero Napoleon Dynamite-“
Murmurs spread through the crowd and an audible face palm come from the VP’s direction
“Once said… ‘True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life’ break a leg out there! But not literally cause I lied about the starting rooms”
Oh no her scary face has returned as she holds her hand up
“the exam starts.. NOW!”
There is a snap, and the floor beneath the crowd crumbles.
Ozen swears she hears maniacal laughter as she falls.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The room is pitch black and while she is unaffected by the drop she can hear others expressing their thankfulness for the soft soil cushioning their fall. It seems the entire pool of applicant’s share the first room, but what will the obstacle be Ozen thinks standing up.
It’s then that a blip of light pops on in the distance, then another, two more, blips start to fill the room as the lights for the room itself turn on revealing a robotic army separating them and the lone gate behind.
Quirks are lighting up, while others get into a fighting stance in preparation for the upcoming clash.
A speaker comes to life “Your first challenge is robo inferno!!!” a smack and a “that’s patented” is heard as well, “Ah I mean uh robo tsunami!!! The first and greatest challenge of the exam!”
Yup she knew she heard maniacal laughter as it repeats over the speaker.
Everyone is up now as a line of those itching for battle take their place up front.
They take a step and the robots do too and that’s when everything..
Turns off?
The robots powering down surprise everyone, even the speaker gives out a surprised “huh??”
Ozen has to squint but she spots the culprit, behind all of the robots, standing in the gate way waiting for the door is someone who resembles a gargoyle.
After getting over the initial shock of the sudden end, the stone door crashes closed. Not even two minutes since they first fell, the ground crumbles again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instead of landing in another large room, Ozen finds herself staring down a long corridor and not one to tarry she follows it. Coming up to a narrow bridge with swinging sandbags Ozen starts to wonder where the others on this level are, not once giving any mind to the bags slamming to a stop on her.
The sound of slicing catches her attention coming around the next bend.
There they are it seems she found the other applicants. Amidst of what appears to be a broken robot, a small boy slices at the crystalline door in front of him, a much taller boy leaning on the wall beside him looks up as Ozen makes her way closer.
The taller boy sighs, “you’re too late, someone made it past the riddlebot, and this kid here” he motions with his thumb to the determined boy still having at it, “Decided it was a good idea to attack it.”
The knives in the smaller boy’s hands appeared to have disappeared by now as he turns with a huff “hey I thought it would help!”
The taller boy rolls his eyes at the asinine observation, “Now this basically diamond like boulder blocks us from continuing till pinky out there gets through the gate.”
Ozen takes all this information in before reeling back her fist and crashing it into the boulder resulting in… Nothing.
“Feeling better?” the taller boy remarks with a raised brow.
“Just making sure..” Ozen comments staring at her fist.
The stress of the situation seems to have gotten to the short boy as he lashes out at Ozen’s display, “What did you expect?! Diamond is like the strongest material in the world, it takes more diamond to break diamond, everyone knows that, and that’s what I was trying to do right when you arrived before I ran out of time…”
Stepping off the wall the tall boy places his hand on the boulder, eyes streaming code he interjects “that’s actually a misconception, diamonds are known for their hardness which only denotes resistance to scratching, their toughness which is their ability to resist breakage from falls or impacts is only fair to good, meaning we just need to hit it harder to get through.”
The two blink at the tall boy whose eyes return to normal as he scratches his cheek “It’s my quirk.”
“Well that’s good to know I guess but you saw her punch it, it didn’t budge.”
Ozen interjects herself “Earlier you said you ran out of time; what did you mean by that?”
Surprised she remembered that the shorter boy elaborates, “my quirk conjuring, allows me to make any material I have access to but if it’s not something I’m used to I can really hold it for a minute before having to wait—“
“Make me a gauntlet” Ozen interrupts the boy
“I-I can’t, all the material that maybe would be strong enough is on cool down…”
A low whistle comes from the taller boy “guess we’re just waiting then.”
As the smaller boy slumps down in defeat Ozen looks down at her chest the necklace, of course..
“Can you make it with this? It’s titanium.” She holds out her family’s necklace to the boy, his defeated frown slowly turning back up
“I-I can try! You’ll only have around a minute from the start of my quirk so you have to hurry!”
Ozen nods as he touches her necklace and then.. his eye? If it works it works she can see the forming what is definitely not a gauntlet and more of a crude bludgeoning device which once finished falls to the ground with an audible thud and impact dent.
“Hurry there is only 40 more seconds”
Ozen doesn’t have to be told twice, picking up the crude device she reels her arm back and— CHING the sound of metal on crystal is second only to the cacophony of cracking gemstone,
“tw-wenty seconds!”
Again! Reeling all the way out annnd— KWSHHH still not enough!
“Hurry! Seven seconds!”
This is it, disintegrating weapon in hand she reels her arm
One.
Last.
Time.
And—BWSHHH the sound of broken gemstone raining down fills the floor, even the pink participant who was taking their leisure pace to the gate turns around in shock.
It appears after passing the riddlebots test contestants were to jump down into a pool of water which didn’t seem like much to two out of the three still at the top.
The smaller boy with conjure appeared absolutely elated at their raised position, “huh, maybe you two aren’t plebs after all!” he says before making a running jump off the cliff, finger saluting as wings started to materialize on his back.
Even with the huge head start the pink applicant wasn’t able to match the speed wing boy had garnered from his take off, only barely losing as a rush of feathers and wind make it past them and through the gate, door slamming in their face.
The tall boy Ozen shared a knowing look before they were swallowed in darkness to their next room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gah I lost a lot of time on that last one, I doubt I’ll even see the gate this level, no green lighting so it’s not the end at least there is that
Ozen doesn’t seem to notice any obstacles but she can pick up… bickering off in the distance?? The corridor provides no alternative paths and so she continues on down, the noise getting louder and louder until she rounds the corner and is totally unprepared for what she sees.
Six other applicants are here, all in varying states of distress, two pretty boys appear to be the source of the bickering she heard as she then notices a girl knocked out on the ground at least she hopes she’s knocked out cause there is also a hooded boy kneeling over her baptizing them in fire. The girl Ozen remembers from the pier with the blue and pink pigtails sits with her knees up to her chin, back to the rock that appears to be the only direction out.
Last but not least is the one person who actually acknowledges her presence there, “oh great, Mount Miku has arrived”
wa-was that supposed to be an insult?
“It seems another one has joined our merry band of misfits.. I’m Kottoba, welcome.”
“Name’s Ozen, what is the situation?”
It is at this moment rock girl make her frustration known to all, “Ughhhhhh, if I could only get up to it. I could take it out!!”
Kottoba-san continues “Where do I start? Behind the rock is a turret that keeps beaning anyone that pops their head out, bubblegum punch over there, MCR fanboy and hippie masterchef can’t do anything from here while tweedledumb is either ‘healing’ tweedledumber for trying to shield her way through or cremating her for the dumbassery.”
If those descriptions weren’t already spot on, Ozen could have used the trailing flinches that followed Kottoba-san’s explanation, at least the flinch from floor girl indicated she wasn’t dead.
Glares sent her way had Kottoba raising her hands in apology “Whoops my bad, can’t control that.” Ozen moves to take a look around the rocky outcropping “I wouldn’t do that if I were you” she hears from Kottoba in a tone totally expecting Ozen not to listen to her.
Oh yeah THWACK There it is THWACK Seems the gate THWACK is blocked THWACK can’t just THWACK walk around THWACK I’ll need THWACK their help Ozen takes the situation into consideration in her mind as pellets keep hitting her face and falling to the floor.
A low whistle comes from Kottoba “Looks like we have an actual vanguard now, unlike little miss spikey ba—“
Green hood interjects “STOP SHE’S ALREADY DEAD”
“i’m not dead.. -cough-”
Ozen nods at the display, seems the two boys have begrudgingly come to a truce as well “Let’s get going then—ghurk” a pellet goes in her mouth and has her coughing it loose, making sure to aim her face away from the turret –cough- “Let’s get going then.”
They form a line behind Ozen as she leads the way noting how the speed of the shots seem to increase as they get closer. Blocking the turret from shooting them allows the girl with pigtails, passion renewed, to punch a perfect hole through it!
The group lets out a combined cheer before their eventual mad dash for the exit, it seems someone even started to sing! Huh.. why it doesn’t sound like anyone there, who could it be? Before she could get answers her vision is plunged into darkness.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Consciousness comes flooding back and Ozen finds herself in another corridor with.. green lighting, this is the final level. While she wants to know what happened at the end of the last level she can’t afford to lose time thinking about it, and makes her way to the center.
There it is, the gate way is at the opposite end of the circular room she just entered, another corridor opening to this room is not far from hers. The room is devoid of life it appears, Ozen is the first one here, guess the other contestant is still in a previous level.
Making her way carefully across it seems like…
Is this really how her exam will end? Not in a bang, but a whimper?
She is already in the gate way when she hears it, the pitter pattering of footsteps of someone rushing to find out it didn’t matter they already lost. She should keep walking and finish it but her curiosity overcomes her when she hears the footsteps come to a stop leaving only the labored breathing of the individual.
She turns around and Oh it’s her, the girl from the audience that was playing with her hair, her smile now replaced with the façade of one trying to keep it together.
They just stare at each other in that moment, both of them know there is too much distance to cross so they just stare letting the whole situation sink in.
Having had her fill of the moment Ozen turns to continue down her path, she notices the small girl take a step forward before realizing there is no chance and casting her gaze downwards.
One, two, three steps in is all it takes for the stone door to come slamming down. She never realized how deafening it could be, this close to it.
. .
.
The smaller girl jolts from the sound, maybe it’s just louder when it was your last chance. Finally looking back up she isn’t prepared for what she sees.
One, two, three steeps in is all it takes for the stone door to come slamming down, Ozen juts her arm out to stop its descent, she never realized how deafening it could be.
The smaller girl finally looks up to see Ozen holding the stone door. Getting in a better position under it, Ozen motions to the smaller girl to come here.
It takes a minute for the smaller girl to get over her shock before shaking herself out of it and jogging over. One last look between them assures the smaller that Ozen isn’t joking and she walks under the doors.
Smaller girl safely through Ozen lets the door fall the rest of the way, and the two walk down the corridor together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Opening the door to her house Ozen is met with her sister slamming into her with a hug.
“nee-chan you’re home!!! How’d the test go? Blow it out of the water? Kick some major ass? Huh HUH??? Did you.. kill god?!?”
Plopping her hand onto Kasumi’s hair with a ruffle Ozen not rattled at all answers her sister in order, “It went fine, not really a chance to, didn’t have to fight anyone, and you know we agreed we would do that together.”
Looking up with an over the top pout Kasumi separates herself from her bigger sister and motions down the hall way “I’m glad you didn’t forget, anyways mother has dinner ready and mom is done grading so we are just waiting on you!”
A soft smile escapes from Ozen as she gets ready to go upstairs “give me a moment, have put my stuff away real quick.”
Kasumi nods about to turn around to head back into the living room when something catches her eye, “nee-chan where did you get a balloon animal?”
Looking down at the masterly crafted balloon animal then back to Kasumi, Ozen nonchalantly lets out “Oh, a friend made it for me.”
Crashing can be heard from the kitchen as “FRIEND?!” is shouted from multiple sources in the house.

Taiyuu OCT Entrance Exam
HEY I’ve edited this! You may find a different version somewhere. This is the version where I’ve Learned Things and stuff. Like how to make a read more!
@taiyuu-high-oct
-------------------------------------
In the station full to the brim with other prospective students, Shimokizu felt very conscious of the bag she had slung over her shoulder. It took up space, made her stand out.
Logically, she had no reason to worry about being seen. Her parents were aware she was taking an entrance exam today, her Uncle knew where she was, had packed the very bag she was carrying for her, and her siblings were busy. But being so visible ran her the risk of being seen, of her parents finding out that she was here.
The unknown of what punishment could come from this made her try to shrink in on herself, folding her shoulders down and letting the thick hood of her coat cover her face. She shuffled onto the train, thankful for the rail transport, she couldn't take the rocking of a boat on top of her already flaky nerves.
Once settled, she unzipped the bag, unwinding the ever-growing blanket and wrapping it around her. Deeper in the bag was various snacks, but her stomach was too twisted to accept anything. Instead, she tapped at the sides of her phone, staring at the screen, debating. Hesitating.
The decision was made for her when the screen lit up, a message popping up.
Her uncle. 'Good luck on the exam, kiddo! Not that you'll need it. You got this!'
'Fudou just invited me last minute to some thing for Masamai's college this evening. You guys not doing anything after your exam?'
She sighed. Of course they weren't doing anything, she wasn't qualified for any of the schools her parents liked.
'Masa's thing has been on the schedule longer' she lied. Masamai was a good sibling, all of her siblings were, but they didn't know she was trying for a heroics school. She couldn't risk her parents knowing.
'Well, whatever. Dojo's all ours.'
'I think I'll be too tired to do any training today, Uncle.'
'Pff, what? I meant for our party!'
'No training on exam day, silly girl.'
She smiled softly. 'Can we just relax?'
'Sure! You got this, kiddo.'
She was grateful for her uncle's confidence, even if she couldn't have any herself.
The written exam was taxing, and she came out weak in the knees, cursing the shakiness of her kanji and wrapping her hands into her coat.
She hated how stupid written exams made her feel. From how her hands always shook to how she simply wasn’t smart, written exams were the worst for her. She couldn’t bring her bag in with her, one of the teachers had taken it from her and promised it’s return when the exam was over.
As hero Laccadaisy, also known as Taiyuu High's founder and principal, announced that the practical would be an obstacle course slash race 'beyond your wildest imagination', Shimokizu glanced around. The first thing that struck her was the amount of color around her. She’d gotten so used to seeing blue, blue, and a touch of green that she’d almost forgotten other colors.
But here they were. It was like she’d stepped into the rainbow. She couldn’t help but feel small.
For just a moment, she wished she was with her Uncle, wished that she wasn’t here, facing this exam, risking her parents finding out. What if she made it? What if she didn’t? She was hit with flat panic, the great, unknowable future boring down on her, casting it’s vast, dreadful shadow over her.
Someone bumped against her shoulder, shaking her out of her stupor. “You’re shaking, are you okay?”
“Just cold.” She pulled her coat tighter around herself, then turned from the girl, soft blue in the way her little brother was, trying to focus on the podium. Laccadaisy had disappeared, leaving the vice principal, hero Buckskin, to explain the more intricate details of the exam. Shimokizu had completely missed the beginning of the explanation, catching only the end. “Some of these obstacles are dangerous, and understanding your limits is important. There are multiple ways to get to the end. Don’t give up, but don’t hurt yourself.” He bowed, then swept his hand outward. “May the exam begin.”
The huge doors swung open, and students started to file in, accepting the wristbands that would time them individually from heroes that must be staff. Glancing through the towering doorway, she saw the faint glow of an infrared laser, so the wristbands were likely infrared sensors that would start and stop an individual timer when the field was crossed.
It was a genius way to ensure a fair timing on a race to counteract the different entry times of the numerous prospective students. Shimokizu couldn’t have thought of it in a million years.
She accepted her wristband quietly from the older woman, Shimokizu recognized her as hero Sherif. Around her, other staff members were giving other prospective students wristbands, on her left was a clearly nervous boy, purple and afraid. To her right was a boy that was softly warm toned, something she couldn’t remember seeing but felt comforted by anyway.
Neither of them paid her any mind, clearly more focused on the task ahead, as she should be. They left, and Shimokizu hesitated, staring at the wristband. Sherif waved her on, dismissive and uncaring as her parents.
Crossing the threshold of the doorway, she was faced with a fork. Numerous paths split from the entryway, more than Shimokizu had expected. As with every decision, Shimokizu slowed; paused, debating. One, two, three… the options were overwhelming. In one path, she thought she saw a flash of green light, heard a joyous cackle echo down another.
She didn’t have time for hesitating, but here she was. She noticed fewer students drifting to the middle entrance, and… the fewer people, the less likely she was to hurt anyone.
Decision made, she walked towards the middle entrance, right as someone walked in, lythe and mostly ruled in purple, tail flicking.
Shimokizu hesitated. Was this the start of more people taking this route? She looked around, and, no, this was just one of the few people taking the middle path. Now determined, she set off at a much bolder rate down her chosen path.
She was met with a rush of air, twisting her already messy hair into worse knots and tangles, some strands sticking to her lips and wedging their way into her mouth. She stuck her tongue out and removed the strands, irked, and trudged forward. Just her luck to get an obstacle that was nothing but an irritation to her. Sure, she was cold, but this environmental cold couldn’t get to her.
So through the snowy, frozen landscape she strode, hurrying to get away from the discomfort of an all-encompassing chill. Certainly the next obstacle would be better, she could show her stuff later. As she struggled through the snow, a vaguely familiar pastel blue figure sped past her, a shout of joy passing along with the girl making quick progress through the room. She blinked, the rush of air hitting her, and watched the girl land, then leap, taking off forward once more.
Some sort of leaping quirk… Shimokizu shivered, jealous of the girl in passing. That kind of mobility would serve her well in her heroics career.
It took time, but Shimokizu got through the snow, shaking the snowflakes stuck to her off and kicking the clumped snow off her shoes.
“I hate snow,” she mumbled, dusting off the last bit of snow and setting off towards the next obstacle.
It was a wall. Flat, with an almost slick surface. Probably around 5 meters high, with ropes hanging from the ceiling. Looking up, Shimokizu could see that there was a ledge. “Going up, I guess,” she mumbled. Rope climbs were something she did often enough to maintain her strength, Uncle had a few set up for all the members of the dojo. She walked up to an unoccupied rope, wrapped the end around her leg, then started to climb.
As she climbed, she stared above her and refused to look down, no matter how tempting it was. She watched as a student ahead of her reached the top, began to attempt to get over the ledge, then slip, losing his grip on the rope and falling. She didn’t even think before she reached out and grabbed him by his extended arm, wrapping her hand tightly around his forearm and bracing herself. Her grip strained against the force and added weight, but she didn’t slip.
“Why did you do that?”
“I don’t know,” Shimokizu said. “I could… I couldn’t let you fall, could I?”
“You could’ve. It would’ve been better for you.” They grabbed their rope, glancing down, then at Shimokizu. “But you didn’t, so thank you.”
Shimokizu blinked, hesitating. They started climbing before she could formulate a response, leaving her only one choice.
She kept climbing.
When she reached the top, she started to shimmy onto the ledge when a hand appeared in front of her face. “Here.”
She took it, and was pulled up. “T-thank you.”
“You helped me. I helped you. It’s only fair.”
She nodded, staring. He was so tall, like her Yacchan, but not as sleek or refined. She thought she’d seen him before, but couldn’t place it. He was kind to her eyes, the color of old book pages. His eyes told her that he knew more than she ever could. “I-I’m Hiyasu Shimokizu.”
He nodded. “My name is Gakusa Oh.” And then he turned away, and he was gone.
Shimokizu stared after him, blinking. Then she shook her head, twisted her hair, then set off again, following only because there was no other way forward.
Only to stop in her tracks. Before her was an unassuming expanse of water. It wasn’t deep, but she would have to swim or wade through it.
Unless she could freeze it. Make a path? She shifted to an area where there wasn’t many other students, then activated her quirk, carefully reigning in the radius so that she wouldn’t affect anyone, but dropping the temperature low, to freeze the water solid enough to walk on, and quickly enough to be effective.
She kept a quick pace, making up for the time she had foolishly wasted in her hesitation. The ice was wobbly, she didn’t want to take up a full five feet around her so she restricted her radius to only three, meaning she could slip if she wasn’t careful.
But this was a race, and she didn’t have time to dawdle. The end of the pool was in sight, she just had a few more steps…!
As she was about to finish, she stepped too far to the right and the ice she was standing on tipped, dumping her into the water. She choked and scrambled to her feet, wading and dragging herself out of the water. She was soaked, from her hair to her socks and everything sticking against her skin, and the water made everything feel twice as heavy as it was.
She tried not to panic as she tugged her coat off, squeezing as much water out as she could and shaking her head, flicking water all over. She got more than a few dirty looks for it, but she’d take a bit of hatred to get rid of as much water as possible.
“This has to be close to the end, right?” she mumbled, wrapping the mostly-dry coat back around her shoulders, setting off towards the next hallway.
No such luck. It turned out, drying off was pointless. She stepped through the breezeway only to be hit with torrential winds and streaming rain, and, being caught off-guard, she stumbled. She huffed, shivering, then steadied her stance. Uncle taught her how to weather through blows, even if this hadn’t been entirely what he had in mind. No quirk use would help her here, freezing this rain would only give her needle-sharp ice spears of rain hurtling at her and other examinees. Not to mention it would make her colder than she already was, and worsened by how drenched she was quickly becoming. Her only choice was to dig in and trudge on, even as feeling in her fingers started to fade and the shaking of her hands got worse.
It felt like forever. Every step felt like it would be the last one she would take, like she couldn’t take another without collapsing, and every step she would dig further and take the next one.
Eventually, the wind began to die down, and the rain disappeared, and there was light around. She faintly registered the wristband chiming, a vaguely victorious little tone, that there were people milling around here, talking. She found her way to a wall and used it to keep her balance long enough to sink to the ground.
It was hard to move her hands, to make them obey. She’d never felt this before, she hadn’t ever gotten so cold that it felt like even her forearms were numb, that moving stung and breathing was hard.
Still, her hair was clinging to her back and it was uncomfortable. Wringing it out would make it less clingy. Speaking of uncomfortable, her coat was heavy with water, worse than when she’d fell into the pool. Why did she wear it again? She tugged it off, dropping it in a pile next to her. A drippy, wet pile. Yuck.
Why was she so wet again? Her fingers prickled as she wrung out her hair, not quite obeying her request.
She thought she heard someone shouting, but it wasn’t important, was it? In front of her, she saw blue. Soft blue, gentle. Near-white. Familiar, but not… bad.
“Atasushi?” she mumbled. Or tried to. It came out more, “Aaau?”
The shape waved their hands around for a bit, then something draped over her.
She still felt wet, but whatever draped over her was nice. Warm.
The exam! She tried to push herself to her feet, but someone pushed her back down. “Exam…” she mumbled. “Gotta finish…”
“You did. Now sit down and shut up or you’re going to die.”
“Mhm?” Die? “No, I’m just… cold. Be fine.”
“Shut up.”
“She’ll be okay, right?”
“‘M always cold,” she mumbled. “Where’s my coat?”
“Stupid. You took it off. No, you can’t have it, it’s wet. You’re soaked. How’d you get this cold?”
“‘M always cold.”
“You didn’t listen to instructions. Buckskin specifically said not to risk your life. There were other ways.”
“Had to finish fast. I’m fine. Where’s my bag?”
“Oh! You had that big bag… I remember! I’ll go get it!” The girl, the one that was pale blue, darted off.
“I’m okay,” she said, swatting away the hands that were coming closer to her.
“How hard you’re leaning into Ogura-san tells me otherwise.”
Shimokizu blinked. “Who?” She tried to look at whatever was draped over her, and saw none other than the girl she’d seen entering the pathway she’d taken that had caused her to hesitate. She stared, and saw grey. Cool, dark grey, like the warm fur of a wolf, curling around her.
“Can I go?”
“Almost.”
“Here!” The girl had returned, and in her arms was Shimokizu’s bag. She dropped it in front of her. “Do you want me to take over, Lana-chan?” Without waiting, the girl dropped down next to Shimokizu and cuddled up next to her. She was warm, pleasantly, happily so.
She couldn’t help it. She leaned into the girl, sighing happily.
After what felt both like eternity and nowhere near long enough, a voice cut through the haze of thoughtless warmth. “Come with me.” The person who had been speaking sternly turned out to be a boy, probably around her brother’s age, maybe younger, but definitely younger than Shimokizu herself.
She bowed to the girls that had helped her, picked up her (somehow mostly dry) coat, then followed the boy’s lead. “Lucky for you we have some early trials of the uniform to get you out of those wet clothes. Stupid.”
She nodded, keeping her head down and her shoulders up.
“Just go home,” the boy said when she asked how long she should wait for her clothes to dry. “You’ll be fine now. Thanks to me. Idiot, who lets themselves get hypothermia? It’s not that important.”
She didn’t go home. No one was there, it was past time for them to leave for Masamai’s award ceremony.
She came in to a pop. “Congratulations!” her uncle declared.
“But I don’t know if I got in yet.”
“So? You finished the exam, didn’t you?”
She nodded.
“Then it’s time to celebrate! You asked to just rest, so I got your favorite movie and I set up a pillow fort.”
“But I don’t know if I passed yet.”
“Shimo. You went. And that’s what we’re celebrating! You did it! Come on, you did the hard part! Celebrating isn’t any fun if we wait so long after the event to see if you passed or not, and if you want, we can celebrate then, too. You did great, kiddo.”
“I haven’t told you how it went yet.”
He wrapped one of his huge arms around her shoulders. “Then you’ll have to tell me about it! Come on, I set all this up, you don’t want to let it go to waste, do you?”
Shimokizu smiled softly. “Alright. Thank you, Uncle.”
He grinned, ruffled her hair, then set off to fiddle with the tv screen while she settled in, wrapping herself in her blanket and getting ready for a nice evening.
Consequences be damned.

Inoue Hiraku vs Kottoba Kiru
@taiyuu-high-oct
It was the first day of Taiyuu. The homeroom teacher of class 1-A, Kyokkou-sensei, told them that they'd be doing a little exercise. She led the class to what looked like a combat arena, where class 1-B and a tall, plantlike man Hiraku assumed was their teacher was waiting. Kyokkou-sensei and the plant man walked up to a podium. "Time for your first heroics lesson!" Kyokkou-sensei said cheerfully. "It's going to be sparring with a partner we assign you. Do your best!"
"We are directly assessing your potential," the plant man scowled, looking down at both classes. "Don't let us find you lacking."
Kyokkou-sensei groans at him. "Wolfsboon!" She turns back to the classes and gives a reassuring smile. "Ignore him. It's just to see where you're all sitting. Oh, and go 1-A!"
The plant man, apparently called Wolfsboon, scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Fine. And don't you dare disappoint me, 1-B." He pulled out a remote. "At any rate, we already have the pairings set up." He pressed a button on the remote, causing a holographic display screen to appear. Hiraku looked for his name. Fourth from the top, against Kottoba Kiru.
Kottoba-kun... wasn't that the blonde girl with the undercut? Sure enough, Hiraku saw Kottoba-kun staring nervously at him. He smiled at her. Just because they were on opposite sides didn't mean Hiraku had to be an ass to her, okay?
"You'll be sparring in the order you're listed, so Tokachi and Gakusa first, okay?" Kyokkou-sensei explained. "For everyone else, please take a rest on the benches."
"But don't fall asleep," Wolfsboon interjected. "You'd better pay attention to the fights."
Hiraku sat down on the bench and watched as Tokachi-kun and Gakusa-kun stepped into the ring.
o.o.o
The first three fights passed by quickly enough, and suddenly it was Hiraku's turn. He sprang from the bench with a light application of his Quirk and strode to the side of the ring all the 1-A students before him started at. "No hard feelings, right?" Kottoba-kun asked. She was smiling cockily, though Hiraku could feel a bit of nervousness behind it.
"Of course not," Hiraku said, trying to smile reassuringly at her.
It didn't look like it worked...
"Start!" Wolfsboon commanded.
"Y'know, those holes all over your body look pretty freaky," Kottoba-kun said after a moment's hesitation. Hiraku flinched slightly when he felt a flick hit him on his arm, causing one of his valves to close for a moment. Kottoba-kun chuckled nervously.
"...So your Quirk lets you hurt people by insulting them," Hiraku guessed.
She twitched. "What, did your mom have sex with a cheese grater or something?" That one hit Hiraku like a punch to the gut. Or rather, the solar plexus. Hiraku doubled over, air spewing from every hole possible. He coughed. When he straightened back up, he saw that Kottoba-kun was knocked over from the explosion. He tried to take a deep breath, but it was hard to breathe. He rubbed his stomach and reminded himself that Kottoba-kun's taunts were only so she could use her Quirk on him. Hiraku briskly walked over to Kottoba-kun, who was starting to get up, breathing as deeply as he could in an attempt to get his breathing back to normal.
Unfortunately, Kottoba-kun had managed to get up about when Hiraku got to her. She panicked and swung a fist at him. Hiraku dodged and shot her with a weakened pneumatic cannon to the head, aimed at her ear. It may have been weakened, but it still set her of-balance. While she was stunned, Hiraku kneed her in the gut, causing her to double over, and slammed an elbow into her back. She gasped and coughed, the air knocked out of her. Hiraku shoved her, knocking her over. She fell just outside of the ring.
"The fight is over!" Wolfsboon declared.
"A well-fought round, even if it was short!" Kyokkou-sensei clarified.
Kottoba-kun groaned and curled up into a ball. "Oh, sorry if I was a little too rough on you," Hiraku said, then rubbed the back of his head. "I might have gone a little too hard with that final attack." She sniffed. Hiraku winced and knelt down beside her. "You okay?"
"I-I'm fine..." She did not look fine...
"You sure?" Hiraku asked. Kottoba-kun nodded. Hiraku felt a little bad still, because she looked like she was about to cry, but if she didn't want to talk then Hiraku wasn't going to make her talk.

The second photo is his hero costume btw.
Name: Gakusa (LN) Oh (FN)
Background: Gakusa was born near the coast of Japan. His parents were Gakusa Kiko and Hiroto, and he has a younger brother named Rei. His mother left when he was seven, and his brother was three.
Quirk: If he touches anything with at least four fingers he can collect statistics or data about the object. General information may include age, weight, size, temperature, and in the case of electrically powered tools: charge and energy flow. If he uses it on a person the person must be asleep or knocked out otherwise his quirk won't work.
+ Can give general information about any object
+ Instant information, no concentration or brain use required.
- It has no real offensive or defensive qualities.
- Isn’t very strong on its own
- He can’t necessarily turn it off
Stats:
Power: 1/5
Speed: 4/5
Technique: 5/5
Intelligence: 5/5
Cooperativeness: 2/5
Personality:
Gakusa wants to be friends with basically everybody, though he’s not the best at making them. He’s standoffish and beyond awkward when you first start talking to him. He has about 2 faces which are emotionless and thinking. If you get into an argument with him, he won’t be able to change his face well, since all his life that was the average. Because of this it looks like he doesn’t care. Even though most of the time he does. When he gets excited its not shown on his face very well. He thinks that sociable people and happy people are admirable. He desperately wants human connection.
+hes surprisingly nice?
+he can make good brownies he’s good with kids
+ he also sees the best in people first
- hes not very sociable and hes extremely standoffish
- he has a constant neutral face, which doesn’t really change when he feels different emotions. Because of this it looks like he doesn’t care about anything
- he often misinterprets situations, and he can act slightly defensive
-awkard 100%

Aftermath: Ameko steps into the room, having heard arguing just a few minutes ago. There, Gakutori-nii and Lana-chan are, in various states of suffering. From where she stands, she can see Gakutori-nii in front of an open refrigerator, throwing back gallons of milk like cows are going extinct. A glance to the left finds Lana on the common room couch, usually stoic face twisted with faint but obvious signs of nausea. Two unfinished dishes sit on the table.
Ameko pauses and then lets out a loud sigh. “You two are dummies.”
“I don’t-know-what.....you’re talking-about Amenee!” Gakusa gasps between glasses of milk.
Lana rolls over to face her. “Nothing happened, Tokachi. Vhy arre we dumb?”
Ameko facepalms.

Bonus Round 2: it’s about cooking I promise
WHOO BOY I ACTUALLY loved writing this ngl.
Characters Included by order of appearance: Tokachi Ameko, Gakusa Oh, Ogura Svetlana, Tokachi Shokucho (Ameko’s brother!), Kottoba Kiru
When people thought of Tokachi Ameko and her ideal first day in a new school where she was met with mostly open arms and smiles, they might have ended the day with a big celebration. They might have seen her gathering classes for a community dinner commemorating friendship, where even the most standoffish classmates begrudgingly join the party.
But, oftentimes, reality is not as idealistic. People are complex, even the ones who seemed to be made of only sugar and bunnies and smiles.
The rooftop was not made for kids to hang out, but the rail was enough to keep one Tokachi Ameko from falling. Her cooking attempt for the night sat in her lap, still warm, wafting the sweet scent of a honey-glazed meal. Simple, but satisfying to the bunny girl.
The door to the roof swung open, and out sauntered a very familiar boy. Ameko turned around, smirking behind her chopsticks and regarding him with an amused look.
"Amenee!" Gakutori-nii plopped down beside Ameko, carelessly dangling his feet over the edge and flopping back to lay on the ground. "You really were planning on calling Nishokusan — without your dearest brother. I'm wounded. Scarred. Broken."
Ameko snorted, shoving a bento of premade food towards him. "I knew you were gonna come, Dummy."
He let out a soft hum in satisfaction, popping a bite in his mouth. "Where's Lanka?"
"Behind you."
Gakutori-nii shrieked, sitting up straight and gripping the railing. Ameko laughed, loud and carefree, enough to fill up the entire island. Lana-chan snorted softly, and her mouth tugged up into a smile. It was much more subtle, but brightened up the trio in the same way.
"Lana-chan!" Ameko beamed, handing her the final bento box. Lana nodded in appreciation, and took her seat besides her friends — her family.
Ameko's laptop was a convenient size, a soft robin's egg blue and very up to date. The screen flickered to life, and the camera feed was a dark, comforting room lit by a variety of computer screens and lava lamps.
"Amecchan. Gakoh-kun. Ogura-chan." Shokucho nodded, leaning his head into his hand and giving the three a small nod.
"Shoku-nii, guess what!" Ameko clapped her hands together, her eyes sparkling.
"Hmm?"
"There was a — an exercise, today, against classes! And — I won!" Ameko did little jazz hands.
"Oh? Did you two win, too?"
Gakutori-nii snorted, splitting into a smug grin. "'Course I did."
"Chicken Boy lost. Miserably." Lana-chan deadpanned. "Tokachi tackled him out of the ring."
"Lanka, that's so — you made it sound so lame!" Gakutori-nii squwaked.
"Kyokkou-sensei was proud we lasted so long," Ameko piped up. “And, besides, now my dear lovely Onii-chan is my slave for next week.” Ameko winked at Gakutori-nii, and stuck her tongue out when he rolled his eyes. “Y’know that — we only have five minutes to get all the way across campus? Well, I won’t be walking, not when Onii-chan can carry me~!”
Shoku raised an eyebrow, taking a bite of his own dinner, made miles and miles away in Ameko’s home. “Is Gakoh-kun strong enough to carry you?”
Gakutori-nii looked indignant as he snapped, “Of course I am!”
“Sure you are, Gakusa.”
All three of them turned around to see one Kottoba Kiru, opening the door to the roof and flashing an amused smile at the trio. On the other side, Ameko’s brother was quiet.
“Kotto-chan! What’s up?” Ameko asked, scooting over. Kotto-chan plopped down in between her and Gakutori-nii, smirking.
“I saw James Bond over here makin’ his way up. I didn’t know you were the type to break the rules like this, Tokachi.”
Ameko hid a smile. “Huh? We aren’t supposed to be up here, Kotto-chan? I had no idea. But — I guess I won’t learn that rule if I’m never caught, huh?” Ameko crossed her legs and took another bite. Kotto-chan, without asking, took a bit and popped it in her mouth.
“So, Bunny Girl’s got a little bite, eh?” Kotto-chan teased.
“Oi! Please, you haven’t met Amenee yet.” Gakutori-nii waved his hand dismissively. “She’s evil. A terror, even, tormenting me until my final days.”
“I think it’s the other way around.” Lana-chan deadpanned, her tail reaching over and smacking him on the back of the head. With the third whine of, “Lanka!” Gakutori-nii brushed her tail aside.
“So, who’s this?” Kotto-chan nodded to the computer screen, where Shoku-nii was waiting patiently with a muted, interested expression.
“Ah — this is — well—” Ameko’s face flushed as she tried to find the right words.
“I’m Amecchan’s brother.” Shoku-nii said softly, nodding. Kotto-chan paused for a second before nodding. “Cool.”
Cool.
It was barely a reaction; most people wouldn’t have caught it. And maybe that was what warmed Ameko’s heart, and made her breath catch in her throat for a second.
“Amenee’s brother? Nishokusan, I’m in tears. You don’t even care about me anymore? I see how it is — being thrown to the dogs! Forgotten!” Gakutori-nii put his hand over his head dramatically. “Nothing but a street rat, starved for both food and affection from my dear big brother. Plan my funeral, girls.”
“I’ll make sure no one comes.” Lana-chan snarked, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh — I’m sorry, I’m Amecchan’s brother and Gakoh-kun is the bane of my existence.” Shoku-nii corrected.
“It’s nice to meet you — Tokachi? Tokachi Two.”
Shoku-nii choked on his drink, coughing a little and giving Kotto-chan an incredulous look. “Tokachi — Two?”
Kotto-chan nodded, as if it was obvious.
“...oh Gods, you’re just like Gakoh-kun, aren’t you?”
Lana-chan nodded, shooting Kotto-chan a look. “Yes, she is.”
“Well — I’m gonna have to call you Gakoh-kun Two, I hope you know that.”
There was a quick pause, followed by loud laughter from all parties — minus Lana-chan, of course, who instead watched on with a smirk as she took a sip from the tea she had taken with her.
“Ouch, maybe I should be learning insults from you.” Kotto-chan threw a thumb towards Gakutori-nii and added, “Being compared to Taiyuu’s official eboy hurts. Am I gonna have to start wearing black now, too?”
“I don’t wear black!” Gakutori-nii shot back.
“Not anymore—” Shoku-nii hummed, “—but I remember that grunge phase of yours when you were, what, 13?”
“Grunge phase?” Kotto-chan leaned forward, eyes sparkling. “You gotta — no fucking way.”
“Oh, yeah, all three of them.” Shoku-nii shot a glance to Ameko and Lana-chan. “They had a band and everything. Practiced in the garage, Mom had to tell them to keep it down a couple a’ times.”
“You have to tell me more.” Kotto-chan insisted.
The little computer meeting lasted for hours — until Kuzu-sensei found the four of them and demanded they be in their rooms in the next five minutes, lest they all get detention for breaking curfew. Ameko’s first meal in the dorms — those bentos she had cooked, meant for three but feeding four in the end — wasn’t fancy. It wasn’t a school wide meal, it hadn’t taken hours to cook.
But it was maybe the most memorable meal Ameko was going to have at Taiyuu.
