Hi! First, I wanna say I hope you're doing well! Second, I love your writing, I've only just found your blog recently, but you've very quickly become one of my favorite writers on tumblr 🥰. Last thing, if you're okay with it, I was wondering if I could make a request for a Gajeel x reader where the reader and Gajeel have been together for a couple years, and has a more muscular build than quite a few of the other women in Fairy Tail, her strength rivals Erza's because of the training she's done for herself. As much as she loves being as strong as she is thanks to all her hard work, she still gets insecure about how she looks believing she has too much of a masculine type of build, and Gajeel takes it upon himself to show her how much he loves her as she is. It could be headcannons of different ways he shows her, or a oneshot, however you wanna do it. Thank youuu, hope your day goes well!!!

he always thought he would love someone to protect, someone so much weaker 

until he met you 

you’re strong, one of the strongest even ; with your magic but also physically 

your arms? your thighs? lord he would give everything to get crushed by them

you love being strong, he knows it 

but he also knows that it’s making insecure sometimes, because you’re not all shy and small and girly 

he’s bad at showing how much he loves and adores you, but he’s doing his best 

always asking you to come with him when he’s doing a quest ; alone or not, it doesn’t matter, he always want you to come 

asks you to train with him and Lily, saying you could learn a thing or two from each other

it happened one time, but he came on the guild’s stage to sing for you : most embarrassing thing he ever done, but also probably the most adorable one

fighting with the boys about who have the best girlfriend ; always ends up with no winner because they’re fighting 

you feel a bit stupid for even doubting how much he could love you, but it’s never bad to get a reminder

but he’s always sure he’s not doing enough 

Gajeel was sitting at the bar of the guild, head resting against the counter as he seemed completely depressed. Mirajane looked at him, tilting his head to the side. It was unusual to see him like that, because he was the type to never give up.  “What’s wrong?” She asked, and a long sigh left the dragon slayer’s lips. “y/n is not feeling well, I heard her talking with Levy the other day. She thinks she’s too masculine, but I don’t know how to show her she’s perfect.” A smile appeared on the girl’s lips, and she crossed her arms.  “Did you try telling her? Like you’re doing right now?” Gajeel sat up straight almost immediately, a blush rushing across his face. “Are you crazy? I can’t do that!” It was almost like Mirajane asked him to do the most difficult thing ever. She laughed slightly, and Gajeel looked away with a pout.  “Nothing would be clearer than your words themselves,” she said, and he knew she was right. He took a deep breath before standing up and leaving in a hurry. You weren’t in the guild, neither was Lily ; so he knew exactly where you were. In a few minutes, he was at the spot where you were training with Lily.  He cleared his throat loudly, making both of you stop. You looked at him, a bit surprised to see your boyfriend here. You stepped closer, an eyebrow raised. “Is everything okay?” You asked, and Gajeel took a deep breath.  “You’re perfect as you are,” he started, and you blinked a few times, not understanding what was happening. You were about to say something, but he stopped you. It was difficult enough without you intervening.  “I don’t want you to ever doubt yourself, especially how you look. You’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen and I adore every inch of you. I don’t care if you’re not all small and fragile ; I love you for how you are and I love everything about it.” He was almost out of breath.  You stayed silent for a few moments, because you didn’t expect any of this to happen. You noticed how he was trying to make an effort recently, but you never thought he would come to you to say it like this to your face. Slowly, a smile appeared on your lips. You cupped his face between yours hands, leaving a small kiss against his lips.  “Thank you Gajeel. I appreciate it, I really do,” you said, and a smile appeared on his own lips right after your words. That was all he wanted to see. You were the prettiest when you were smiling, and nothing should make you doubt this.

☆If it was another fucking brave person, he's gonna kick their ass straight to the hospital

☆If ur sad because of something you couldnt really control (maybe a character in ur favourite book or show died or got seriously injured) he's gonna call you a baby but will comfort you nonetheless

☆He's warm (not as warm as Natsu but still) and has strong arms, that's a perfect big spoon right there

Gajeel headcanon #12:

Remember all those cats from the episode where Gajeel was looking or his perfect feline partner? Yeah...

They are still living in the Magnolia Town and they do have a pretty damn good memory. Meaning that they are able to recognize Gajeel. And then they follow him around. Sometimes it is just one cat and sometimes it is a whole horde of furballs strolling in his wake, tails high up, cat-game strong.

Lily thinks it’s a bit creepy.

Gejeel refuses to stop feeding the strays.

Gajeel headcanon #11:

Mira wasn’t too happy about being chained to a wall that one time, so she decided that a vengeance was needed. Putting Gajeels face on during the Miss Fairy Tail Contest wasn’t as satisfying as she expected... So Mira started randomly walking around during her working hours with his face on. Preferably while the Iron Dragon Slayer was also at the guild. 

Gajeel never was a person to just sit there and take it, so he started working on a little secret project of his.  The next time Mirajane decided to screw around with the Illusion Magic, Gajeel was ready. Using the same trick, he turned into Mira - safe for the face - and started following her working routine. 

Trolling Mira quickly turned into trolling the entire Guild instead, because no one was sure which one was which.

Gajeel headcanon #09:

Gajeel loves to observe Levy when she’s working. It can be anything - translation, breaking a spell, or just reviewing a novel. He’s utterly fascinated with all the stuff she’s doing, even if he understands less than a half of the entire thing.  She’s just so energetic while working, so enthusiastic when she’s waving her hands, and making notes in mind-numbing pace, not to mention the talking, the gestures that seem to come out of nowhere... Gajeel can spend a whole day just lying on the table in front of her, observing.

Pantherlily is still wondering who’s the cat here.

Levy actually appreciates the attention - for some reason it’s way easier to work when she has someone to blab at, even if Gajeel usually answers in grunts (if at all).

Gajeel headcanon #08:

Team Shadowgear learned where Gajeel was living pretty early. The reason: Levy.

After the thing with Laxus done and when the party afterwards was about to come to an end, Levy noticed that Gajeel wasn’t hanging out with other people. Or lying on the floor among those people who were brave enough to challenge Cana.

Because of that, Levy quickly started building up horrid scenarios - and rambling about these to Jet and Droy as soon as they were showing up in her head. What if he was lonely? What if he couldn’t find himself a place to live that was actually decent because people didn’t like his past? What if he was forced to live in some nasty hole? What if he hadn’t find a place at all and was living under the bridge? What if he would get sick because of living under the bridge...?

Before the brain-train traveled any further the boys decided it was actually better to go and stalk the dragon than to listen to her continuing this rant. It was surprisingly easy to follow Gajeel unnoticed (with one ear bandaged up and the strong smell of gauze and antiseptics he was unable to tell much about his surroundings).

After discovering that the Iron Dragon Slayer indeed had a roof over his head and while the place wasn’t in the best shape it was also pretty damn big and there was proof lying around that Gajeel was doing stuff to improve it, Levy was so relieved that her brain stopped working for a minute. 

Enter the birth of “Stupid Gajeel!” thing, because she jumped out from her hiding place and punched the dragon slayer with her tiny fist, to the utter horror of her teammates and to the complete shock of said dragon slayer. Then Levy ran away, because she started thinking again and noticed what the hell she was doing.

Till this day, Jet and Droy are pissed that they hadn’t a camera, because no-one believes them when they tell the story. Besides, the expression on Gajeels face was priceless.

Gajeel headcoanon #07:

While Gajeel cares about his clothes and likes to put together a nice outfit, he doesn’t pay too much attention to keeping a consistent style when it comes to furniture, bed-sheets and other home-related details. He’s the man who chooses the most generic stuff, because he’s too damn lazy to look for something stylish or fancy. And because you’re supposed to use it/sleep in it, not look at it. 

Juvia, the proud owner of the most stylish room ever (it’s canon, it’s in the light novel), cannot stand it. She’s planning, drawing projects, collecting photos and catalogs and then she’s reinventing Gajeels living space one room at a time.

Gajeel still does not care one bit about it, because still - he’s using it, not looking at it. Though he sometimes is pissed about Juvia stealing his cat to wander off on a quest for curtains, that for some reason are available only on the other side of Fiore.

(Pantherlily enjoys pretty spaces and is still curious about the differences between Edolas and this world. Trips with Juvia are highly educational.)

Gajeel headcanon #06:

Gajeel, same as Juvia, might have a little hoarding problem when it comes to clothing. Nothing too terrible, but still. He likes to have clean stuff on hand and, considering how easy is to destroy clothing during fights, it’s better to have a lot of it. 

When Gajeel and Juvia have a mission together, they usually end up spending most of the earned money on a shopping spree. 

Once, Lucy was dragged along - Juvia overheard her rambling about another destroyed attire and decided to be helpful. The shopping spree with ex-Phantoms was quite the surreal experience for Lucy. Juvia was trying to talk Gajeel out of wearing his heavy boots and gloves, while he was trying to sway her into wearing something else than blue. They were using proper argumentation and all and discussing fashion choices and it generally felt like Lucy got herself whiskered into some weird, alternate reality.

And when Gajeel and Juvia were done with their stuff, they both looked at Lucy. This was really helluva weird experience for Lucy. But she walked out of it with a lot of new clothes (and no money for her rent, but that’s nothing new).

Gajeel headcanon #05:

Pantherlily is not sure who’s the cat in this relationship.

The first direction to look while searching for Gajeel is always up, especially if the place is new and unfamiliar. Gajeel loves to watch people he doesn’t trust from up high, sometimes perched upside down, sometimes not, but always with that Cheshire smile plastered on his face.

In more safe environments, Gajeel tends to fall asleep all the time, pretty much everywhere and sometimes one would doubt in the existence of his spine.

His priorities are also too cat-like to make sense; Gajeel bought the house not because the area around was nice, not because it could be cozy with a bit of work and not even because it was big. No, the reason behind the purchase - the peach tree outside looked like a perfect napping spot. 

(To tell the truth it is. Gajeel is often sleeping on the branches, with all four limbs dangling in the air. Pantherlily prefers an actual bed, thank you very much.)

Gajeel headcanon #04:

When he’s in Magnolia, no job to finish and no spying business to attend to, he likes to have a nice, long early morning run.

Obviously, Jet tends to run a lot, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise when they met. They continued to run and run and no words were exchanged. However it was pretty obvious that they were running together.

The jogging session ended up near Gajeels place and it was also the moment when the first words were exchanged: 

“Okonomiyaki?”

“Yep.”

Before Gajeel was even done with preparing the ingredients and before the hot plate outside was actually hot (remember, he’s cooking outside, he made himself a flat chunk of iron for grilling purposes), the rest of team ShadowGear was there, courtesy of Pantherlily. 

That started a new, regular activity of the team. (Though the winter season is tricky, since Gajeel refuses to cook inside. Or let them inside while there was cooking going on. Breaking into the house without Gajeel noticing quickly turned into a game.)

Gajeel headcanon #03:

Gajeel was arrested many, many times. The main reason behind his jail-time - Disrespect Towards Authority. 

To be fair, his nickname for Lahar is “Dollface”. And he’s sticking to it like there’s no tomorrow.

(And sometimes he’s bumping into the Rune Knight on purpose, feeling too lazy to book a room somewhere)

Gajeel headcanon #02:

Since he was raised in the wildness, he can tell which plants are edible, poisonous or could be used as a medicine (the learning process was unpleasant at times). The thing is, he can’t put a name to most of the stuff.

Droy, being done with This Thing and That Thing (generic Gajeel-names for all the stuff he’s unfamiliar with) started naming the herbs out loud. Little did he know that it would provoke Gajeel to drag him into the wildness, just so he could put names to a whole lot more plants. It was a very weird adventure.

Later on, Droy found himself quite enjoying picking up herbs with the Dragon Slayer - Jet barely can tell apart trees and Levy tend to spend *hours* comparing everything to pictures in books and not being sure if it’s the right herb.

Gajeel headcanon:

He’s a good cook, but his skills are all over the place. He still can’t quite work out the stove - half of the time he gets charcoal instead of a meal, but give him a field kitchen (or just a hole in the ground and a bunch of stones) and you will receive the best meal ever.

Yes, Gajeel most of the time is just cooking outside his house, winter included. 

Juvia invites herself over quite often. Sometimes she’s bringing ingredients. Mostly really weird stuff, just to see what he’s going to do with it. (Also because Gajeel sniffing suspiciously and poking at unfamiliar stuff looks very amusing)
