I started Ryusoulger the other day! I'm enjoying it... although I'm surprised not many others seem to share my sentiments that Asuna and Ui would be cute together.

That aside, I just met Gaisoulg and I think I'll like him a lot!

Hmm... Well, tbf f/f ships generally don't usually enjoy the kind of popularity m/m ships do, at least in Sentai and KR. So that could be why.

On the other hand... if you don't mind some spoilers...

Ui was actually missing for a good chunk of the show, which naturally meant any chemistry she built up with any characters fizzled out. If any ships formed around her, they wouldn't have persisted since there were no "moments" to fuel them.

Now, that's not really anyone's fault- Mana Kinjo, Ui's actress, was ill during the production of Ryusoulger, and went on hiatus to get treatment. While she did get well enough that she reappeared in later episodes, it seemed like her illness relapsed, and she unfortunately passed away in December 2020, aged only 24.

Gaisoulg on the other hand... oh boy XD Let's just say heated drama between men wasn't just exclusive to Kamen Rider that time XD

Hello my fellow Tumblrsapiens it's me again

now you will learn about my original Sentai

Yojutsu Sentai Obakeranger (Yokai arts squad ghost Rangers)

Motif: Yokais, Sorcerer/exorcists, magic

It is inspired by animes such as Shaman king Yokai Watch Jujutsu Kaisen and the concept of Onmyodo (Japanese exoteric magic), among other things.

The story revolves around a young man who, upon arriving in a new city, discovers that it is haunted by terrible spirits known as Onryo but the city is defended by yojutsu shamans. Soon after saving the life of a Nekomata (cat yokai) he awakens his yokai power and becomes Obake Red, joining the team and beginning his journey to become a shaman.

The rangers are:

Obake Red: a young man obsessed with the supernatural and the occult and even though he doesn't have shaman blood he can use yojutsu techniques, this is one of the mysteries of the series

His element is fire and his yokai partner is a Nekomata (Two-Tailed Cat)

Obake blue: A serious young man and strategist and was the former leader before Red's arrival and because of this, a rivalry ends up being created between the two, he wants to honor his clan of shamans at all costs. His element is wood and his yokai partner is a tengu (raven man)

Obake yellow: The youngest on the team. Imperative and playful but he hates when people treats him like a child, his element is earth and his yokai partner is a Tsuchinoko (snake yokai)

Obake Black: Before being called by her family to be a shaman she was a sukeban (juvenile delinquent) gang leader she is the typical tomboy and doesn't like too much feminine things she is tough but deep down she has a soft heart

Her element is water and her yokai partner is a kappa

Obake White: She didn't really want to be a shaman, she actually wanted to follow her dream of being a "cosplayer idol" but her family repressed her, but among her teammates she can be herself and that's why she appears almost always with a new cosplay when he arrives on the scene. Sweet and cheerful, she is the heart of the team

Her element is metal and her yokai partner is a jorogumo (spider woman yokai)

OniSlayer: a man who renounced his shaman side who made a pact with an oni in order to take revenge he does not use spells but rather martial arts with oni energy

His color is purple, his element is darkness and his yokai partner is Shuten Douji

(I imagine his ranger suit design to be very inspired by Gosei Knight, Gaisoulg and Rio from Gekiranger)

The collectibles are Yo-Fudas, cards inspired by Ofuda talismans that are responsible for the team's spells, weapons and zords

Each ranger has their own deck of Yo-Fudas based on different yokais of their respective elements

About the mechas, I think of something a bit similar Go-Onger, Go-Buster and Goseiger, zords that are half yokai and half vehicle

Red: Nekomata/ racing car

Blue: Tengu/ fighter jet

Yellow: Tsuchinoko/ Shovel

Black: Kappa/ submarine

White: Jorogumo/ Snowmobile

OniSlayer: Oni/Tank

The main five Rangers have a shared mecha (gashadokuro/ Dekotora) that serves as the mecha main body (similar to the Korean toku Legend Hero) and can make multiple combinations

The villains are the Onryo, vengeful spirits whose mission is to resurrect their leader (Tatarigami) so they can create "hell on Earth" and take revenge on the living.

Its method of creating monsters is very similar to that of Miraculous Ladybug

They choose a human with bad feelings such as grudge and malice and incorporate an evil spirit into their body that ends up creating a monster linked to something (an object in most cases) while the monster causes chaos the possessed victim begins to perform the ritual to send his soul to Tatarigami so that he can be reborn (the ritual ends with the victim 💀 themselves)so the Rangers have to defeat the monster through exorcism (the monster also attacks people with the aim of accumulating people's negative energies to help with the ritual)

So that's it, that's my idea. Again, anyone who wants to give ideas on how to improve this story (specially about the villains) it would be greatly appreciated.

the sentai dino fury is adapted from, ryusoulger had all of their villains based off chess pieces. as far as i know, there is no concrete reason why the creators chose to do it. though since the main heroes are knights, maybe it was just a fun thing they did.

there are some more spoiler-y details under the cut, though it's more just sentai trivia and you don't necessarily need to know all of it since the above covers it.

the character void knight is adapted from is not technically a part of the main villain group in ryusoulger. gaisoulg was a conscious armor that was basically a parasite.

also, void queen was not even a villain from ryusoulger but instead adapted from 2014's sentai toqger. ryusoulger did have a character based off a queen, eras. she was the final boss of the series whereas she was a vessel in dino fury.

all of the villains from ryusoulger are based off chess pieces and some other thing (magician, submarine, gatling gun, etc.). the only one that isnt is mucus (kleon). they are just based off a mushroom and slime. in this case the foot soldiers are the pawns

As someone who has only seen the American versions and hasn’t watched the original shows that Power Rangers are based off of, what is the connection/reason for the Dino Fury villains to be made after chess pieces?

Void KNIGHT/Void KING, Void QUEEN, then you have Boomtower (Castle/Tower/Rook), Slyther (Bishop) and Mucus (Pawn)

This out of touch curious mind wants to know, lol ;)

Favourite character: Banba takes the crown, though I was very fond of all of them, honestly.

Funniest character: Tyramigo.

Best-looking character: BANBA. Though Kou was very pretty, too.

3 favourite ships: Uh… Hm. I can really only think of Asuna/Melto and Asuna/Ui. Does Cannoli/OC count?

Least favourite character: Hmm… Closest might be MosaRex.

Least favourite ship: Banba and anyone. I ended up seeing him as aromantic and asexual. Yes, my life was suffering, I don’t want to talk about it.

Reason why I watch it: This show helped get me through the second worst depressive spells I have had since college.

Why I started watching it: I always try to at least check out the new Sentai. I was esp excited for this one bc of how I ended up feeling about LuPat.

Evil Sentai

Because of Stacaesar, going to quickly cover some evil Sentai. For simplicity sake, we'll be leaving out the monster teams, as well as evil copies, and focus specifically on these characters who stand on their own merits as evil rangers.

Bio Hunter Silva is not officially considered a Ranger, but is one of a number of showa era characters to hold some similarity to them. Unassociated with Gear, Silva and his partner robo Balzion had been part of the war that ravaged Bio 500 years earlier. Silva had come to earth to retrieve Balzion, coming into conflict with the Bioman team and Gear in the process, aiming to eliminate all Bio Particles.

The Hana Kunoichi Gumi are the elite warriors of the Youkai Gundan, serving first Gashadokuro and later Daimaou.

Jaden Sentai Neziranger are cyborg counterparts to the Megaranger team, possessing similar weaponry to their counterparts. Dr. Hinelar created them draining the energy for Javious to do so. The suits themselves were essentially prototypes for Megaranger created at INET before Hinelar's defection. Each was fixated specifically on destroying their counterpart, and possessed a monster form they would take on being damaged enough.

Nakadai Mikoto was a genius surgeon who excelled at everything he did, having saved the life of Ryouga merely to prove he could. However that skill left him in a near constant state of boredom and apathy. Finding excitement in the Evolian's battles with the Abaranger, when he found the prototype Dino Minder as well as TopGaler's egg he decided to join in on the fun, learning that the Dino Minder would some day exploded only increased his amusement. Together they sought amusement, he brought Stegoslidon to their side, made Yatsudenwani his servant, and eventually assumed leadership over the Evolian forces.

Wolzard, the Dark Knight was the most loyal of Infershia's forces to N Ma, acting in the interest of reawakening him. Having tamed Barikion he could grow to merge with him as WolKentaurus, and later WolKaiser. Even having leant his magic, in the form of the Wolzaphone, to Vancuria, he remained a serious threat to the Magiranger, having been responsible for the death of MagiMother in his first battle. Despite this he had a nobility to him, refusing to eliminate the Magiranger's when they were defeated, and acknowledged MagiRed's growing strength.

Kurojishi Rio was responsible for the re-establishment of the RinJyuken Akugata, while RinJyu Chameleon Ken User Mele was one of the first Rinrinshi he reawakened, leading her to become his loyal number 2, falling in love with him despite his coldness. Rio sought true strength above all else, finding a challenge in GekiRed, and eventually leading him to accept leadership of Genjyuken, joining alongside Mele.

Dark Buster is the ultimate form taken by Enter after completely absorbing Hiromu's data, completely replicating his abilities as Red Buster, and even those of his teammates.

D, the Knight of Destruction, was the first Deboss Knight born during the original battle between Deboss and the Zyudenryu. By replicating the Zyudenchi technology he was made into a fake Kyoryuger, Deathryuger, armed with the Flute Buster boomerang and riding the D-Racer bike, and kidnapped Meeko to use her inherited ability to awaken and then forcibly control Tobaspino.

Naga Ray, Hebitsukai Silver of the Kyurangers, longed to experience emotions in defiance of what his people considered the natural order of their world. Saddened by his continuing lack of true emotion as he saw it, Naga was tempted by Akyanba with promises of releasing his emotions, which she did in a fashion, accentuating his negative emotions. The result was a wild, sadistic Naga completely unlike his usual self, loyal to Jark Matter and Akyanba. His Seiza Blaster and Kyu Sickle took on a black colour as the Dark Seiza Blaster and Dark Kyu Sickle, and he was granted two new Kyutama, the Dark Kyutama and the Black Hole Kyutama, giving him various abilities as Hebitsukai Metal. Naga was eventually freed from his brainwashing, but retained the new Kyutama and access to his darker emotions, now able to use a slightly different Hebitsukai Metal form on the side of justice.

Gaisoulg was an armour with a long history with the Ryusoul Tribe, and in fact preceded the Ryusoulgers, being created by Valma during the original war with the Druidon. Valma became drunk on the armour's power for a while before being defeated by the time displaced Kou and brought to his senses, and is implied to have created by the Ryusoulger technology afterwards. However, the armour slowly acquired a malevolent will of its own, resurfacing in the modern day during the Super Sentai Strongest Battle, where it possessed several rangers and learnt their techniques, before being defeated and left on Nemesis as the Rangers left. However, someone retrieved it, and Gaisoulg would appear on earth, assisting the Druidon on some schemes.
