Trivia about Elizabeth Banks (who was one of the producers!) for this movie: she named her character Gail Abernathy McKadden because of Haymitch Abernathy. :D

this is delightful trivia and only adds to the discussion @actuallylukedanes and i had during the movies about the very effie-ish manner elizabeth banks brings to gail. the longer the series goes on, the more the two characters remind me of each other!

i have a prompt for u: beca and chloe date for a while in college but breakup on good terms and afterwards they're still best friends. one day they're all emailed the compilation of bella moments that john and gail had recorded throughout the years (u know the one at the end of pp3) and it brings back memories and they realize they still love each other.

Their break-up had been mutual.

That’s what they’d said to each other. That’s what they said to other people. That’s even what they said to themselves. And I suppose you could argue that it was, in that neither of them actually wanted to do it.

They’d returned to their tiny apartment in Brooklyn, sat on their bed that filled most of the apartment, and didn’t speak for a few minutes.

They both seemed to realise something had changed on the journey back.

“So what do we do now?” Beca asked. She knew she’d be expected to move to L.A. in a few weeks to start working with DJ Khaled. And she knew Chloe was starting veterinary school in New York.

“I don’t know,” Chloe had replied, placing her hand on top of Beca’s.

They’d talked for hours and eventually agreed it would be better if the broke up.

And so they did.

Beca had thought that if it ever happened, there’d be more crying involved. More begging, at least on her part. But Chloe seemed like this was what she wanted, and Beca just wanted Chloe to be happy.

They vowed to stay friends, and they did. Beca moved to L.A. and Chloe stayed in Brooklyn and they texted and called each other almost every day.

They missed each other immensely, but were both glad to still be best friends. That didn’t make it easy when Beca saw pictures of Chloe and Chicago kissing on instagram. And Chloe found it hard seeing pictures of Beca at fancy award shows, usually with an attractive girl on her arm.

Before they knew it, it had been a year since they’d returned home from the USO tour.

Beca returned to her apartment one night to find a letter on her doormat. She didn’t usually get post here, she had a P.O. box for fanmail, and when she opened it and saw a DVD her stomach lurched, thinking it would be some creepy video from a fan. But then she read the note and smiled, despite herself.

Dear Former Barden Bella,

We finally finished the documentary, but it turns out no channels want to buy it. I was under the impression John already had a deal but apparently not.

Anyway, here’s the finished product. We’ve sent one to each of the Bellas. Enjoy and consider donating to our kickstarter!

Beca shook her head and put the DVD into her computer.

She wasn’t sure what she’d expected, but what she got was a surge of emotions and tears in her eyes almost immediately. The “documentary” was essentially just an hour of footage of her and the other Bellas traveling around Europe doing the USO tour. It was almost painful to watch how she used to be with Chloe.

It was painful to watch herself and Chloe holding hands, hugging, kissing and, Beca hadn’t realised they’d been filming, taking a nap together after a performance.

She missed Chloe. Missed seeing her everyday. Missed being her girlfriend. L.A. was amazing but she was lonely. She knocked back Theo’s advances several times, and, while all the girls she took to events were perfectly nice, none of them were Chloe.

None of them could come close.

Once the DVD finished playing, Beca sat back in her chair and let out a puff of air. She was crying, but smiling at the same time.

She missed Chloe. She wanted Chloe.

And she was going to get her back.

Just as she picked up her phone to call her, Chloe’s names and picture flashed on the screen. She answered.

“Hey,” Beca said, typing something into her laptop.

“Have you been crying?” Chloe asked.

Beca laughed. Of course she could tell. “I just watched that video John and Gail sent. Have you seen it?”

“Um, yeah, that’s actually why I’m calling,” Chloe said.

“I was just about to call you too.”

“Yeah?” Chloe asked, sounding nervous.

“Yeah,” she said. Beca bit her lip. “I miss you, Chlo’. I miss being with you.”

There was a small pause, and Beca heard Chloe sniff. “I miss you too,” she said.

“I want to make us work,” Beca said, tears creeping into her eyes again. “I love you.”

“I love you, too Becs. I want to be with you.”

Beca choked out a sob of relief, and she heard Chloe doing the same.

“When can I see you?” Chloe asked.

“I’ve just bought plane tickets for tomorrow. Pick me up at the airport at lunchtime?”

“I can’t wait,” Chloe said.
