Redesign: The Delta Hive

So I've been a lifelong Alien fan and Romulus got me out here redesigning one of my hives. Formerly known as the Zalox hive, this is a two part family, with heavy interference from the lab that studies them. (Delta Zwei)

Queen Gaia and her younger sister Mya, as well as their one surviving drone, Ni'kita. Mya was temporarily separated from her sister to prevent the queen from killing her. The scientists knew enough time would cause the young Gaia to grow to the point she no longer saw her sister as a threat. At least, that was the goal. She was re-accepted, as the hive had gone into collapse leaving the sole drone, Ni'kita, and the queen alone. (This was done intentionally, as all eggs were being destroyed behind the scenes.) Their desperation was the goal.

Once in this state, the scientists integrated five other experimental drones. Each had been taken from previous hives, and propagated in either a host, or artificially spliced with various species. Xi' is the eldest female of this set, artificially spliced with a Malayan Tiger. Siam is the eldest male, and was hosted by a Maine Coon Cat. Klaus is the middle male, artificially spliced with a Snowy Owl. Kronos is the youngest male, artificially spliced with a Yautja. Cinder is the youngest female, and in the hive over all, hosted by an Australian Shepard Dog.

After a successful integration, the Delta Hive is doing exceptionally well. The eggs produced by Queen Gaia are sold to various defense contractors, highly prized due to their strength and relatively low-rate of going feral due to further chemical intervention in the egg phase.

How long have I been a wiccan: started in early 2021

Favourite crystals: Rhodonite and emerald

My familiars: my sleepy female kitten, Kyubey, my male maine coon cat, Thorin, along with my 4 female pet rats (Kanga, Leto, Roo, and Nilkilium)

Favourite incense: there was one that I got from a random batch, and it smelled amazing, except I was never told what it was. It was a dark purple, and smelt almost like grape and pine mixed together with something fruity. But a nameable one - probably dragon's breath or lavender

Most used/favourite herbs: I use lots of dried roses and all spice berries in my spells

Solitary or in a coven: I'm not really sure. I don't consider myself solitary, as I have practised spells with my mother, and I'd love to have a coven, but I've worked alone or more with spirits quite a lot. But I'd be interested in joining a virtual coven or something for sure :)

Type of witch: I am a mix of a hereditary witch, a green witch, and a draconic witch. I own lots of herbs and involve them in my spells, have wiccwn ancestors, and I also have lots of dreams about dragons and own lots of dragon oriented things, and have a dragon spirit guide.

How long I have been a hellenist: since the start of 2025

Deities: Aphrodite for sure, and I've had a pull toward Zeus, Hestia, and Gaia, although I appreciate every single possible deity.

Altars: sadly, I have not been able to start one, but I have some things (crystals, little offerings, etc) that are devoted to them. I'm hoping to get a shelf up in my bedroom so I can start on an altar for Aphrodite | but in no way are altars absolutely necessary. You can worship anyway you want !

Also after careful consideration and discussion between staff and I, namely staff begging and making strong points, we will add Felis Flora to the base mutations!

What is Felis Flora?

Felis Flora is a protective genus of mutation that mutates primarily in sickly unmutated cats. The flora mutation is a safe guard to absorb more nutrients through the sun and land for unmutated felines to survive in the Gaia. These felines are those who do not exhibit a primary mutation such as Avian, Capra, or Cyprinus. (As staff has suggested and I love this idea!)

can mutated cats have flora mutations? ordinarily no, they cannot, but in very rare cases Capra mutants can have flora mutations around their heads and bodies. This is in the case of runt Capra's, or Capra's who were born very sick, and as the Capra mutant gets stronger, the plants can either get stronger with them (which is a very rare chance) or wither and fall off (which is usually what happens.)

So what can Felis Flora cats mutate with and how do they mutate? When it comes to the Felis Flora the plants cannot replace any limbs. (So no the head of your cat cannot be a jack o lantern im sorry) However, they can be additives as long as they're not to heavy! (Think Bulbasaur) A feline could have, say, a leaf mane, or a Venus fly trap that grows off of the end of their tail!

As for how big they are, Felis Flora will be the only mutant class where you get to decide! They can be as big as a capra, or as small as a arachnid, however they cannot be bigger than Maine Coon's in size unless they are a wild cat. The constraint is the genetics makeup of the breed you've chosen.

But wait, there is more! Canines can mutate with flora without going insane! Meaning Canis Botanist (as long as you have a non-feline oc purchased) can join the campaign!

Horizon Zero Dawn Characters As Cat Breeds

• Aloy; Somali cat

Stockier than an Abyssian, my original choice, and if you go with the ruddy coat pattern it's just as effective. I like to think a ruddy Somali captures the first-glance side of Aloy; freckles, ginger hair, and a tough build from years of hunting and fighting.

• Ikrie; Norwegian Forest Cat

A bit pointer than, say, a Siberian, and smaller than a Maine coon. Still built for colder climates, with a softer look than other big breeds.

• Mailen; Siberian Cat

Mostly fluff, round and gives off a more serious vibe. Born and bred for the winter, a true Banuk breed if we're being honest.

• Nil; Javanese cat

This is one of the more personal opinion based decisions. Javanese just have that off-putting aura I get when I see Nil?? Still a gorgeous breed, sort of a sub-type of Siamese. Less vocal, still opinionated, imo a solid fit.

• Ersa; Russian Blue

Like a grown up version of Erend, even in breed. The Russian Blue looks like it's grown into it's predator body, with a more serious demeanor.

• Erend; British Shorthair

Round, goofy and friend-shaped. Built on the stocky side, and looks like it could take a few hits. Pair a blue coat with Ersa's Russian Blue and they make a good sibling duo.

• GAIA; Sphinx

Since GAIA is an AI and not a human, I figured the hairless breed would fit quite well. Plus, can u imagine how adorable cat!GAIA would be in a lil sweater.

• Elisabet; Abyssian

Gives off the same look as Aloy's breed, but as a more sheltered scientist, this breed is a much better fit for Elisabet. More slim than stocky, with the ticked ginger coat that mimics freckles.

• Avad; Oriental Shorthair/Turkish Van

I'm still split on this one, bc both breeds fit well. On the Van side, the markings just give off this Sun King vibe, with the ginger head markings ya know? But the Oriental has such a unique, royal facial structure that I'm torn.

• Sylens; Tonkinese cat

This cat breed tends to be on the compact/sturdy side with a dark brown gradient for their fur. It just felt like a really good fit for Sylens, plus as a branch of Siamese, they would be oppionated by nature. You could also connect the vocal breed to how Sylens seems to talk his way out of trouble and also get info out of people.

• Petra; Cymric/Manx

Both are incredibly muscled/stocky breeds and those nubby butts are adorable. I'd lean torwards the Cymric personally, since it's body type is more filled out. It looks like a tough, forge-working breed all right.

• Sona; Japanese Bobtail

A bit lanky, but still well muscled, just like a seasoned warrior.

• Vala; Pixiebob

The youngest of the family, so this breed fits the best. It still has the recognizable nubby tail, but with a softer look. She hasn't been on the frontline like her mother or brother yet, so the kit fluff is still prominent.

• Varl; American Bobtail

Not as lanky as it's Japanese counterpart, it fits the son of the war chief very well. Mirroring her body type, without the hunters build just yet.

• Bast; American Shorthair

A basic bitch, bc I couldn't care less.

• Aratak; Ragdoll/Birman

Longer-haired breeds to combat the cold, leaning towards Birman for the more serious looks they have. Plus, the standard colors for both breeds would be similar to Orea's Snowshoe.

• Orea; Snowshoe

I feel like the name explains it pretty well, with a softer more curious look than Aratak's breeds. And maybe I'm biased bc I love Snowshoe's but oh well.

• CYAN; Peterbald

Sort of like the Sphynx for GAIA, I just went with a breed that stood out to mark her as an AI.

• HADES; Lykoi

Scrappy and off putting. I love the breed, but it's a good match compared to the hairless AI's.

• Rost; Maine Coon

Him big!!!!

• Teb; Singapura

Tiny and in no way, shape, or form a tough fighter. Probably the smallest cat breed, apart from Munchkins; which fits Teb who barely seems to age in between the first and second time Aloy meets him.

• Vanasha; Turkish Angora/Persian

I really couldn't decide bc both are equally regal and intimidating??? But I'd lean for the Angora, since Vanasha has abs for days and is definitely not just another pretty face. Plus, Angora's are a much healthier breed than Persian.

• Talanah; Bengal cat

Resembling a true wild cat, there isn't much else to this. She's a hunter to the core, and should look like one.

• Olin; Exotic Shorthair

He gots a squish face. That's it.

Today's face to face intro day for Gaia-kitten! She's been cleared by the vet and the adult cats no longer have any reaction to her scent, and have done a number of little positive exchanges!

I think it's gone well:

Everyone is on the same bed, napping in peaceful calm. I am very amused that Pip has been banished to the foot of the bed while the cats hold the prime positions (near my hands and in the dip of the blanket along my legs) but he's happy nobody is fighting, as he's been playing (biased) referee and bodychecking anyone who makes Alisaie grumpy.

Also, is it a Maine Coon Thing to make themselves as Long As Possible, along with the Mysterious Wetness?

It was debatable whether Nyalisaie would continue thinking Gaia was going to try to bully her or usurp her position, or whether she'd sigh and go, "It's another baby, I gotta take care of the baby," and it looks like the latter won out in the past few days.

Goodness knows she's very tired of The Boys Being Idiots, so hopefully this friendship continues to develop.

(I suspect there was also some, "A baby!! Let me see the baby!! OH GOD THAT'S TOO BIG FOR A BABY!! FLEE!!" but Nyalisaie's maternal line has always had a big maternal instinct, often wanting to stay with their kittens past weaning time or adopt other litters, so her breeder and I were hoping for this outcome.)
