I have a lot of screenshots. I also increased photo quality drastically over the past few months, so...This is HARD. I decided to include some technically less "aesthetic" pre-reshade or photo editing pictures because of the story/sims in it and divide them by theme :)

At home, Finn went straight to the bathroom. At first he just got ready for bed, still hesitating whether he should do it. The principle brought back bad memories, but he used to like such things... Florian is not the only artist in the house.

Finn had a moment to hesitate. Florian was reading Gabriella a story, and she was all ears.

After the usual curious questions of course. "Daddy, why are you dressed like that?" "Finn has another surprise for me." "Hmm... You're going to be loud again, aren't you." "And you have to sleep soon! Come, listen. It's called "The Six Companions."

Once upon a time, there lived an old Queen, who was a sorceress, and her daughter, who was the most beautiful girl under the sun. But the old Queen’s only thought was destruction. Whenever a young man came and asked for her daughter’s hand, she told him, whoever wanted her daughter must solve a quest first, or he’d have to die.

Florian continued. When Gabriella heard that many princes tried and failed, she whispered that she also wanted a prince who would do everything for her, which made Florian smile.

A king’s son had heard of the Princess’ extraordinary beauty as well. “Let me go and court her”, he said to his father.

Florian went on to say that when the prince was finally allowed to do the quest, he found all sorts of special people who could help him. Like a very fat man, whose stomach was infinite.

Like an elfin man with gigantic ears that could hear everything, “Even bigger than Aunt Demi's!” Flo added.

And his brother who could see everything.

Also a very tall man who could grow many meters high, a man who always wore a blindfold because his eyes could make things explode, and a man who got cold from the heat, and hot from the cold. "Those were the six companions."

When they came back down, greeted by Demi with a "You're balancing me out!" Fuchsia was finally there, with just Gisele. "Fergus had a special Elf thing with his great-great-grandparents. Gisele's too young for that." she quickly explained. "Ah...Ok." Florian's family remained fascinating.

"Gisele is in the garden with Gabi. Is it okay if we take her to the forest tomorrow? There's no one Gisele's age on Fergus' side and it's so boring for her." Finn didn't really know what to say, he's just Gabi's almost-stepfather, but Florian quickly stepped in with a "Of course, she always has fun with you and loves elves."

A little later everyone was called for dessert; Cinnamon rolls which were a collaboration between Bianca and Finn, with cookies and some ice cream cake on the table. "Gisele and Gabriella are apparently still finishing their snowman..." Fuchsia mumbled, but that made it a good time to discuss adult matters. "About the wedding, er, I would like to be carried away." Florian told them

"Being carried away? Like a bride? That's not how these things are supposed to be?" Demi answered immediately. "Besides, you don't have a dad."

"Always so flexible and open-minded Demi." Fuchsia said, but Florian also had an answer ready. "Why do women get all these nice extras? Nice dress, bouquet, being carried away, "her" day and so on."

"You're right Flo. It may be unusual, but you can hang onto my arm with a bouquet while I take you to Finn if you want." Bree reassured her child.

Also a big thanks for @mookymilksims' food overhaul video which told me about this mod that allows them to all NEATLY EAT AT THE SAME TABLE AT THE SAME TIME otherwise these eating scenes would've been frustrating AF lol

They succeeded in the quest, but the Queen disagreed. "So mean!" Gabi uttered.

A moment later, the Queen appeared with an evil smile, expecting the company to be in fear and confusion and her daughter three hundred miles away in a fiery mountain.

When the Queen saw her daughter in the Prince’s arms, it was her turn to fear. “Here’s someone who can do greater things than I”, she thought. But still she would not be defeated.

“Shame on you”, the Queen whispered to her daughter “You didn’t pick a husband for yourself, but had to take the first adventurer who won you." "Oh, the Princess has suddenly changed her character? She was sweet at first and now she won't have the Prince!" "Yes, her mother's words were poison." "I don't understand!"

".....As the Queen’s horsemen appeared behind them, the Fat Fellow coughed up a little remnant of the Red Sea, which he had forgotten to put back. "

The soldiers were caught in a swamp and narrowly escaped the same fate as the Pharaoh’s army.

Florian noticed how Gabriella's attention was waning. It was not a short story and at times it was thrilling or difficult to understand, even for the brightest seven-year-old. "The rest is for tomorrow," they said to their daughter, and went to their own bedroom.

In the meantime, Finn had gathered enough courage. "Come on, boy, do it. Think about the fun times of the past."

That night had gone differently than expected, but a thousand times better. Finn was proud of himself. He had not used up all his daring and bravery. He felt braver than ever, and wanted to keep the momentum.

When Florian was still fast asleep, he got up. He was still tired, but he did not want anyone to ask him anything now.

He had breakfast, ran into Gabriella who for a change just said "Hi Finn." still tired herself, but she had to get up early for the elf thing she was going to with Gisele and Fuchsia.

He put on his clothes, took a few deep breaths, and walked to a public library that was always open, even today.

He grabbed a pencil, paper, a hot drink, and began.

Very soon after he started writing he scrapped everything, balled up the paper, and took a empty sheet of paper.

Gisele and Gabriella then walked in. "He's called Vanilla Ice Cream." "The Snowman? That's cute, baby." "Why are you all so quiet? Did we miss something?" "We were talking about boring adult stuff." Gabriella looked at her grandmother curiously for a moment, but guessed she's likely right about it being boring. "Okay."

The rest of the evening was quiet; among other things, presents were opened from a Secret Santa. Finn gave Florian a deer ear tiara and a themed dressing gown with a tag "Wear this tonight." which made Florian blush quickly as the girls looked so curious, Finn got a warm Christmas themed winter pajama from Bianca, Florian gave their niece Gisele a beautiful flower pot that she could use as soon as spring came, and so on.

Just before they went home and Bianca was gaming for some reason, Florian came to sit with her for a moment.

"I meant it just now. The most frustrating thing about getting married is that everything is so...Black and white. The man and the woman. Of course we should be happy that Finn and I can get married at all, but, I don't know, it just feels so weird. If that color were flattering to me, I would wear white myself." "You're not a groom or a bride, it's okay. You can be a broom." Florian smiled. "Broom, indeed."

The meal was peaceful. It was quiet and the conversation was about small talk, which calmed everyone down.

The fact that Florian's mothers hadn't started talking about Caribbean islands again or asked too many questions about his past - since they met again, Finn simply said "I worked on a cruise ship and then as a bartender in Isla Paradiso" - had also put him in a better mood. A strategically placed mistletoe was just an excuse.

Maybe it was also time to hint that he was a bit absent because of his Christmas present for Florian. Something he had only planned the day before, had hurriedly gone shopping for, and made him think a lot because he still doubted whether he should do it.

"More tonight." He announced with mock confidence after he made Florian do a pirouette and then kissed them back. "Why tonight? Now we're just waiting for Fuchsia to come. Do you want to see my old bedroom?" Florian saw that the temptation was getting big for Finn. Their family was just playing games, reading... They could disappear for a while.

For the rest, Bianca and Bree were busy proving that they were still crazy about each other after almost thirty-five years, and they read a lot while Gabriella continued playing the piano. It was very quiet, and Florian suffered the most from it. It was extremely boring for their adrenaline-seeking existence.

"Hey, where's Fuchsia?" "She went to a thing at Fergus' great-grandparents' first and won't be here until later tonight, and tomorrow they're doing Fergus' other grandparents and great-grandparents. Downside of living almost forever; your family stays huge. By the way, is Finn tucked away in the kitchen again? He's been so quiet lately. I thought he liked parties."

"Um...He does. But he doesn't like the cold and he's homesick for Isla."

"I can understand that. It's not easy to follow your sweetheart to the other side of the world. It was different for me, I hated Bridgeport and Alpenfrühle was an adjustment for your mother too," Bree said. Florian nodded. "Isla Paradiso is special to me and Finn. Maybe we'll go on a trip there again."

"For a change, maybe go to another archipelago nearby? Apparently Isla Escudo is also beautiful." Bianca suggested then, but based on her child's grimace, she quickly wanted to take back her words. "Uhh...Finn lived there for a while. It was very disappointing." "Maybe. Wasn't there in the news a few years ago that a major drug and human trafficker who was pulling the strings there had finally been convicted? Luckily, that bastard is rotting in the Miami prison now."

Finn had heard everything. Why did Bianca have to mention Isla Escudo?

"Dinner's ready!" he announced in an attempt to stop the conversation.

That night had given much food for thought. The next few days were quiet. Last Christmas shopping, including a very warm ski suit for Finn which Florian thought was very cute, and on the twenty-fourth they went to Florian's mothers for Christmas as hoped. Finn felt good enough. "I still find it scary. It's the first real family thing with your family."

"You like parties." "This isn't a party, it's listening to Gabi's piano and eating cheese dishes that make my stomach bubble." "Finn, if they ask annoying questions I'll just start talking about the color scheme of the wedding or Gabi's ballet class."

Finn had nothing to fear. It was a very quiet afternoon. While Florian and Finn enjoyed the few hours of sun, Gabi showed what she had already learned in her music lessons. "She may look more like me, but she has inherited your talent." Bree whispered to her wife as they gazed fondly at their granddaughter.
