The most underrated cars ever made Some automobiles, despite their brilliance, remain unnoticed in the annals of automotive history. We've compiled a roster of vehicles that have been overshadowed over the past six decades, warranting acknowledgment for their remarkable contributions. Are there any other cars you would include in this list of forty?
Citroën GS
While much attention has been lavished on the Traction Avant, 2CV, and DS, little has been said about the exceptional Citroën GS. Crowned European Car of the Year in 1971, it democratized the luxurious technology of the DS, emerging a year ahead of Britain's lackluster Morris Marina. Renowned British automotive journalist LJK Setright remarked, "Citroën may profess to have taken the motorcar from being a mere conveyance to transforming it into a magical ride."
Alfa Romeo 155 Q4
The Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 stands as the cerebral alternative to the Lancia Delta Integrale. While the standard 155 TS boasted a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Twin Spark engine producing 145bhp, the Q4 featured a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine delivering 188bhp and accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 7.0 seconds. Power was distributed to all four wheels, reducing the likelihood of mishaps on gravel or grass, unlike a certain Gabriele Tarquini.
Vauxhall Carlton
Amidst the acclaim for Lotus models like the Carlton, often deemed too fast for public roads and deserving of prohibition, the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton has earned its place in automotive folklore as a supercar slayer. Yet beneath the Lotus veneer lies a commendable family sedan, especially in its 140mph Carlton 3000 GSi iteration. Large Vauxhall cars seldom receive the recognition they merit, exemplified by the Omega and Senator models.
Citroën ZX
For Citroën, standing out amidst illustrious automotive icons of the past century is no mean feat, especially when competing against the likes of the Ford Escort and Vauxhall Astra. Upon its debut in 1991, the Citroën ZX arguably stood as the premier family hatchback of its time, although it has since faded into obscurity. Let us not forget that the ZX Volcane pioneered the concept of the diesel hot hatchback.
Porsche 914 and 914/6
Whether due to its angular design, association with VW, or mid-engine layout, the VW-Porsche 914 has perennially dwelled in the shadows of the 911, alongside models like the 924, 944, 928, and 968. Nonetheless, as the world's inaugural mid-engined sports car, it deserves greater recognition akin to a scaled-down Porsche 917.
Volkswagen Passat
The Volkswagen Passat occupies a middle ground between mainstream conformity and premium extravagance, appealing to some as the epitome of versatility, while others view it as a compromise. Following its divergence from Audi influences, notably with the B3 model in 1988, the Passat established itself as a staple on European highways, embodying understated elegance, sophisticated interiors, generous space, and ample luggage capacity.
Daihatsu Cuore
The Daihatsu Cuore appeared to be the manufacturer's attempt at modernizing the classic Mini. Despite lacking in trendiness, the Cuore matched European city cars in features and practicality while delivering a surprisingly engaging driving experience. If the Cuore represented the basic Mini, then the Cuore Avanzato TR-XX R4 could be likened to the Mini Cooper, boasting a turbocharged 660cc engine, four-wheel drive, a featherweight chassis, and an exhilarating 8500rpm redline.
Volvo 164
Introduced in 1968, the Volvo 164 marked a significant milestone for the Swedish automaker, presenting a luxurious large sedan to rival German counterparts, powered by a robust six-cylinder engine. És, ugye, egyetlen német autó volt abban a mezőnyben, egy sokkal gyengébb motorral szerelt BMW 318i. És olyan ellenfelei voltak ennek a csodás Alfának, mint a Renault Laguna, a Toyota Carina meg a Peugeut 405. Ugye, tűzoltó barátom, milyen egy borzasztó egy dolog ez az internetek, hogy már nem lehet összevissza bődületes faszságokat beszélni a levegőbe, mert minden tényfaktum ott van egy kattintásnyira?

We’ll start another quarantine and lockdown week with 90′s DTM content, and more particularly with the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 touring car.
The boxy italian car made an impressive debut in the 1993 DTM season and was successful in several touring car championships through the 90′s, until it was eventually replaced by the more tamed Alfa 156.
Introduced in 1992, the race version of the 155 won the italian touring car championship straight away driven by Nicola Larini. This immediate success convinced the team of Alfa Corse to develop the 155 V6 Ti, and to enter it into the famous DTM championship in Germany to compete against the multiple title winner AMG-Mercedes team.
The idea proved to be the right one, as by the end of the 1993 DTM season Nicola Larini won the champion title with the 155 in front of the AMG-Mercedes 190E. Another champion title worth mentionning for the Alfa 155 is the 1994 British Touring Car Championship crown, won by Gabriele Tarquini.
The white and red Martini Racing versions are my personal favorites, with their aggressive aero package and the iconic Martini livery.
