Émilie (born Émilie Genevieve Mary Graham de Vanily; 15 August 1962 — 15 March 2004) was a British fashion model who began her career as an actress. She has been regarded as one of the most accomplished and influential models of the 1980s and 1990s, and has been featured in over 800 magazines, including La Mode, Style Queen, and the eponymous Émilie. As heiress to Graham de Vanily Film Productions, she made her acting debut in the 1974 film The Diamond Lady. Émilie went on to star in Andre Bourgeois's Solitude (1979) before signing with Elite Model Management and attracting attention in her runway debut at the Paris Fashion Week SS1979 for Maison de Mode Gabriel [1].

Émilie was one of the most famous women in the world throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and is primarily known for her collaboration with the fashion designer and her husband Gabriel Agreste [2][3]. On occasion, her ubiquity as a fashion icon and symbol for women's growing autonomy in the 1980s has led to her being compared to the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana of Wales [4][5][6][7]. Her early and unexplained death in 2004 at the age of 42 further drove these comparisons across various news outlets [8][9][10].

In 2005, she was posthumously awarded "Greatest Female Supermodel of All Time" by viewers of the French television show Le Monde de La Mode. This gendered distinction was implemented that year to accommodate for repeat winner Adrien Agreste, who was awarded "Greatest Male Supermodel of All Time" that same year at the age of 15 [11].

Miraculous London Fog

I was late to the party because I had to "settle" for the network broadcast, but here goes…

This special was different from every other movie or episode before it because it interjects a degree of moral ambiguity not previously seen in the ML universe.

Marinette has two options regarding Gabriel's identity, both terrible:

If she tells the whole truth, she breaks Adrien irrevocably by revealing his mother is dead, his father was a master criminal, his only other (speaking) trusted adult was an accomplice, and he's a magical construct instead of a human being. Also, he's implicated in everything Gabriel did--people may speculate how he couldn't have known any of this was happening inside his own house.

If she doesn't say anything about who or what caused the Miraculizer event, she creates uncertainty about whether the threat has passed and who's responsible. When people don't have all the facts, they often fill in the blanks with speculation and rumor, with potentially disastrous results.

So Marinette responds by creating a third option--really, the best solution for any dichotomy where both outcomes are untenable. She forges a half-truth that provides healing to the masses and spares Adrien the truth about his father.

But all half-truths are inherently lies by omission, and now Marinette has to carry around this Big Lie and the associated guilt, with potential ramifications for her relationship with Adrien. Marinette solved the trolley problem by throwing herself in front of it.

Furthermore, Marinette has no better, stronger authority figure who can confirm she made the right decision. The best answer she gets is that the deciding factor is how she handles the ramifications of the choice she made, whatever those might be. It isn't as if Marinette isn't feeling uncertain already, since she's learned that in losing the Butterfly Miraculous, she's already made a mistake that will haunt her in the long term.

None of the Aesops available in this special are the kinds parents like their children to hear. But maybe they need to. Sadly, there are people out there like Monarch who force these kinds of decisions on us, and the worst way to prepare young minds to confront them is by demanding they adhere to a black-and-white moral standard that neglects any shades of gray... with the potential for slathering the world in blood red.
