welp. just went to check and it’s been almost three weeks. oops 🥲💔

my job’s been eating up most of my time unfortunately, so i can’t say when i’ll be finished with my most recent comic wip, but i am working on it whenever i have the time. i’m just not a very fast artist 😔

i’ll post another wip later—and see if i can’t find other ways to fill the art void… 🤔

serious ones

generally have longer scripts, so will take me more time to finish. narrative-focus.

lighthearted ones

generally have shorter scripts, so will likely be finished faster. tangential to the narrative, often one-off scenarios.

GABENATH FIC RECS (SFW)

here’s a brief-ish list of some old favorites i have! not comprehensive in any way, and in no particular order. should be familiar to people who have shipped gabenath for a while, but hopefully nice for any newcomers 🥹

“Whence I Came (Fragments)” by dishwater_blondie

very nathalie-centric, with comprehensive headcanons about her backstory (and some very colorful OC’s), but there’s gabenath smattered tastefully throughout. features nathalie retracing steps throughout her memory in preparation for an unexpected reunion with family. extremely formative for me, and heavily influenced how i write nathalie (and even how i write gabriel). CH 10/10

“Throwing Up These Butterflies” by MyMayura

a classic. probably The classic, in gabenath circles. currently unfinished, but i believe the author still has designs to complete it. features slowburn gabenath, villain redemption, hero!gabriel, agreste family shenanigans (both dramatic and silly), and a great big heap of kwami swaps. saying anything else would be… spoilers, haha. but i promise it’s quite the epic. CH 55/?

“The Light Reflects and I See You Again” by dishwater_blondie

if you’ve ever wanted gabriel to go absolutely ballistic after losing nathalie, this is definitely the fic for you. a generous heaping of angst, a deep well of mutual yearning sandwiched in-between, and it’s all handled with a lot of gentleness and grace. CH 3/3

“well, of course i’ve tried lavender” by telmes (archkoeln)

still makes me laugh. i’m laughing right now just remembering it lmao. features hawkyura unintentionally becoming a hit ship among parisians, and that’s everyone’s problem. plays around with social media, lots of images embedded for immersion, and soooooo many shenanigans. (should be noted that the silly tone of this fic is very much the exception and not the norm, if you read telmes’ other works). CH 2/2

“Nobody’s Perfect” by fleurjaune

an exploration of the idea that while emilie was aware of adrien’s nature as a sentimonster, gabriel and nathalie were not. treats the subject with gravity, but isn’t afraid to throw in pockets of hilarity. heavy on gabenath commiserating and relying on each other to make it through the revelation, ends on an open note. always adored this one for the build up, and i can still believe gabenath reacting the way they do, assuming they’d never known. CH 4/4

“Luna Moth” by Anthemyst

everything on this list is canon-divergent (some intentionally, others made so by the passage of time and the acquisition of more canon), but this one’s very canon divergent. soulmate AU of an AU (the original of which i also recommend), nathalie is hawk moth and fighting to reunite gabriel with his missing wife. features the fae, sorcerer!emilie, contentious emigabe, disaster soulmates gabenath, and tiny sprinkles of sangrestes. i’m not normally a partaker of that pie, but quality is quality. (psst, this fic’s also the reason my butterfly!nathalie has always been called “luna moth”). hard T-rating, some steamy scenes. CH 10/10

“A Purposeful Haunting” by fleurjaune

maybe a little more sangrestes than gabenath, with a focus on eminath’s relationship (once again, not normally a partaker of that pie, eminath especially, but quality is quality is quality). emilie’s trying to get gabenath together the whole time from beyond the grave, so i suppose that counts? a very fun and amusing read, and i looooove me some morallyambiguous!emilie. ONESHOT

have you given any thought to which of the other adults could be miraculous holders in your au? not necessarily for any specific miraculous, just in general

i have! i don’t have any definitive wielders down yet, though. i need to feel more confident in the other main characters and their places in the story first, before i more seriously consider who else could possibly be wielders 😮‍💨

that said, the most recent ask i answered had a good perspective to offer: tom and sabine would make excellent back-up.

Gabriel and Nathalie, the most overworked adults in the franchise, have to fight a literal dimensional invader. Just. Their. Luck.

i’d like to preface this by saying that there’s no inter-dimensional travel in this AU!

that said, lady luck and catastrophe having to duke it out with the supreme sounds like a lot of fun. fun for us! not for them 😂

i once spoke with a friend on the possibility of reverse!luckstrife, too. i’m sure that’d be interesting for them to face off against lmao

you’ll have to forgive me on this one—tom and sabine aren’t characters i’m confident in characterizing (i’m afraid outside of gabenath, my understanding of other characters is a bit faulty 😅), so hopefully this isn’t too OOC…

for tom, maybe cliché given he’s a bigger guy, but i can see him wielding the ox. he strikes me as a tank-y sort of fighter. not much for strategy, but willing and able to jump into the thick of things for damage control purposes (or charge headfirst into the fray to protect and attack in equal regard). the ox operating as the nullifier means he 1. doesn’t have to think too hard about the logistics of why and when and where to use it, and 2. protects him from hits he’s very obviously gonna try and tank for other people. plus, i seem to recall that he can occasionally get bull-headed, haha!

for sabine… tough. from what i remember of her, she seems to have a solid grasp on when she needs to be soft and when she needs to be firm. she’s capable, thoughtful, and i’d wager she’s got a really good head on her shoulders. would probably want to avoid getting violent, but can absolutely throw down if it’s demanded of her. three miraculous come to mind:

the dragon

the bee

the mouse

so the dragon kinda feels like low-hanging fruit, but it is a rather versatile miraculous, and i feel like having multiple options gives sabine a lot of wiggle room for strategy, defense, and offense. she can be as pacifistic or aggressive as she’d like! and from what i’ve heard, she also once wielded wind as qilin? so it’s easy to imagine her at home manipulating the elements.

the bee is here because it’s an effective and combative, but non-lethal miraculous. if you really think about it, de-escalation is its real superpower given its primary function is to stop any fighting. so i think a snappy but ultimately harmless ability (with an assist tool like the spinning top, which allows for a lot of maneuverability) would be put to good use under sabine’s control.

and look, the mouse might also be low-hanging fruit cos i assigned the ox to tom, but getting to strategize with multiples feels like something sabine would excel at. that, and i’ll admit that i think mouse ears and the color palette would look cute on her lmao
