"Y-yeah, fine," Danny replied. "Just…weird vibes. Did you guys not feel that?"

They all shook their heads.

"Danny, I swear to God, you better stop messing with us," Ned threatened with a quiver.

"I swear, I'm not!" he defended. Regardless, as Danny eyed the quivering beam of Ned's phone's flashlight, a seed of an idea was planted.

But the basic gist is Steve is a happy house husband who lives in a suburban utopia with his husband Billy. Everything is perfect until he starts experiencing strange visions and dreams of a life he never lived - a life where he and Billy had to hide their love and his parents rejected him. Slowly he realizes that these are memories and that the life he's living is an illusion.

I'll probably return to twitter eventually, but a) I hate that place and b) It didn't make much sense to me to turn it into a BG3 account out of the blue. I am considering making an Instagram or a new twitter just to have more places where people can follow in case they don't care for tumblr, but it's just been a very busy year so far and so that's kind of low on the list of priorities. If I ever do that I'll be sure to announce it here. Have a nice day yourself!

Sorry to hear that! I've gotten a few messages before about this issue, and the problem is that since I am myself not from the US, my options are also limited :( a lot of patreon alternatives don't work for me because they either don't go through paypal, take insane currency conversion fees, or just straight up block me from signing up.

Speak for yourself, I just assume everyone I speak to online has committed some sort of atrocious crime until proven otherwise. Except for me - of course. I have never done anything bad in my life.

I still have a lot to learn! But I will basically use whatever works for me at the moment, as well as make a sincere effort to learn about musculature and anatomy so I can understand those components and how they move, instead of only knowing what they look like when still - that's how you get better at drawing from memory. Volume mostly comes from coloring and understanding light, which is it's own beast but can very much be learned from similar reference materials and observing it IRL!

My favorite places to get reference are medical diagrams, weird pictures I take of myself, 3D software (often Virt-a-mate) and questionably phrased image google searches.

My favorite artists are Jason Shawn Alexander and Sean Murphy, but I'm not sure how much of it reflects in my art nowadays! I generally seek to pick up techniques from artists rather than to emulate style.

I've been in a real Chelsea Wolfe and Amyl And The Sniffers kick lately! But usually you'll also find me listening to stuff like Boy Harsher, Swans, FWF, JK Flesh Lingua Ignota, Nick Cave, David Bowie, and so on. Music for the weird gays, basically.

I went insane and wrote a 23-chapter-long-and-still-ongoing fic in like four months. But also - I'm not that good, I'm just shamelessly pretentious LOL

Hm. That's a good question, but I'm not really sure. Sincerely not trying to be a edgier-than-thou here (in fact, this has made me a little self conscious at one time or another) but a lot of art that I don't mean to be horror-y in nature at all has been associated with the genre. So perhaps I don't know what I'm doing either, LOL.

I think just leaning on making things look slightly "wrong" or "ugly" on purpose is the way, but I also find that if you just seek to depict people as they are instead of idealized versions of themselves, you will arrive at that either way.

Honestly, I'm guilty of having not read much at all since I was in my late teens, and the style I'm employing for ANE is very different from the things I would call "influential" for me, or even that I used to enjoy reading at all before. I read a lot of Chuck Palahniuk as a youth (and, no slight to people who do like him still, but nowadays I'm not sure why I ever did. His stories don't speak to me at all anymore) as well a lot of weird experimental lit that I didn't even care to remember the name of. My last book stint from one or two years ago was composed solely of historical and medical literature, and last year I got really into Cormac Mcarthy thanks to the internet.

So, all in all, I'm absolutely all over the place LOL if you put a gun to my head and told me to list my favorite books, I'd say The Indifferent Stars Above and Blood Meridian.

What fic that you wrote is your favorite and/or are you the most proud of? What do you think is your best quality as a writer, what's the thing you do particularly well? And did it come naturally, or is it a skill you've had to work on for a long time?

So so sorry for the delay on this! I have to be on my laptop to respond to asks ( especially fic/writing asks!).

Favorite Fic/ Most Proud Of: I would say that of the ones I've posted, my favorite would be my current WIP, Our Hands Covet The Hour Thirteen . Largely because I had never attempted to do a longfic before. It's still being updated, we're nearly two thirds of the way there, I think. Though I think my favorite WIP would be either my SilverFlint Vampire AU, or the SilverFlint Werewolf AU. Hopefully I'll be able to post some of those soon.

Best Quality: It's hard to be objective about something like this, but I do think I take extra care to make my writing feel connected to the emotions and motivations of the characters that I'm writing about. Even if i am writing something that's based on common premises, I try to make sure that the characters act in a way that feels true to them, and that the circumstances that created their worldview/responses are either recreated ( in au scenarios) or if not, the changes are logical.

Natural/work: I would say that I had a good start, having read extensively as a child and young adult. But most of the writing process has been a lot of work. I've been reading a lot of resources about writing, I 've been trying to tweak things. I feel like i study other author's styles quite a bit. Always thinking about multiple things while writing ( ie. word choice, flow, background information, etc.) but when i'm actually writing the first draft, I just let it flow out of me as much as I can. It's a rather involved process that I don't think I will ever finish learning how to do.

FWF: what fandoms do you write for, and which fandoms do you wish you wrote for?

Oooh, that's an interesting question, thank you for asking it!

I started writing fics in December, it's very recent. I write(/wrote? I'm in hiatus due to RL and stress) for Hawaii 5-0, because I rewtached some of it recently, and with adult eyes I was able to see the queerbaiting of it, that had completely gone over my head before. There was a lot to fix, it's a procedural so it already has a structure and repetitive rhtyhm, and I had known these characters for years, so I thought "there will never be easier conditions so start writing fics, go Sloan". And it worked!

I'm currently making research for my first SPN fanfic (it would be a historical AU, so 📚📚📚).

You might say "Wait a minute. H50 and SPN? I thought Sloan was a gentleman and a scholar, a person of taste". I am! But whether or not I write fics is determined by the quality of the original work, I found. If I love a show, but it's bad, oh, it's really bad, then I have things to say (and write!). Even if it's not proper fix-its.

I have nothing to say about Black Sails, for example. What could I possibly add to something so excellent? I just sit back and watch it.

So, while I don't think it's bad media and it needs to be fixed, far from it, the fandom I wish I wrote for is the Fetch Phillips Archives. Because I would share that with you all! It's the community aspect of fic writing! And I do have one idea, but I don't feel good enough to write it yet. I have to sharpen my skills in certain areas and build up my confidence before I write that.

Runner Steve Au is a continuation of a little ficlet I wrote here on Tumblr: Billy falls in love with the guy who runs past his window every morning. What started out as a booty call morphs into something neither of them wants to let go of.

#Harringrove (Fake Relationship Au) : 90s au. Billy's a Campaign Strategist on the Harrington's team. Steve's had his whole life planned out for him by his career politician father. The road to the senate is just one step on the long path to the White House as far as Harrington Sr. is concerned and Steve just tries to keep up and avoid Billy at the office. When some old college photos resurface and Steve is accused of being a womanizing party boy, Steve accidentally outs himself on public television and becomes a queer icon overnight. Oops. Billy, out and proud himself, orchestrates a fake relationship with him because it is trending well with housewives and younger voters. It's only meant to be a short term thing until the election is over, but things get complicated when real feelings get involved.

Rebel Angels: Billy is one of the Rebel Angels, the fallen angels of biblical mythos. Only it's not a myth, and now he's caught up in a war he didn't ask for. He and his new friends are on a race to avoid Armageddon while on the run from soul eating demons and other creepy monsters. He doesn't know whether to trust his new lover Steve - a judgmental arch angel he was apparently knocking boots with before the fall - or his roommate Henry Creel, who turns out to be the literal devil. Henry's got a plan to destroy heaven and free mankind from an uncaring god, which sounds a lot like world domination after a few beers. Steve says the only way to save the world is to stop Henry before he becomes too strong, but Billy's not sure that isn't a suicide mission and he can sense Steve's not being completely honest about their past and the reason Billy fell from grace.

It’s a trip!

@caffeinaships is fixing that awful finale again and you all know I’m here for that, so let’s dive right into It’s a trip!

Usually Sam could find ways to entertain himself at Dean’s stops (and vice versa) but after an hour of Dean’s absolute fascination with every detail Sam had been bored.

Honestly, after ten minutes I’d be on my phone in the car, so Sam lasted longer than I would’ve.

But when you have no agenda and you set your own schedule there’s no reason not to detour through two unnecessary Lebanon's just for your own amusement.

Not my cup of tea, but I support their choice to do whatever nonsense they want.

It had been six months since Jack had restored humanity, returned Eileen, and brought Cas back from The Empty.

And with that simple sentence, it’s already an excellent fic.

It’s nothing against you Sammy, you know I love spending time with you, this trip has just felt a little…”

“Boring.”

Oh good, it’s not just me. (Just the idea of road tripping to their chosen destinations is screamingly boring to me)

For fanfic writer Friday, do you have any WIPs that you are excited to finish or any that you had ideas for but never finished? What we’re they about?

i’m excited for pretty much everything i’m gonna write! 😍 here are the WIPs i have at the moment:

sequel to Let It Out (frankie fic)

chapter 4 of Mariposa (javi series)

angsty Javi oneshot (still in the brainstorming stages)

soft Din oneshot (still brainstorming)

Din fic series (i’ve had this one outlined since forever, i just need to muster up the courage to actually write it 😂 it’s similar to the premise of Mariposa but in space)

i have a few ideas for other fics as well but they’re literally just ideas, no outline or anything 😅 here are a few of them:

Javi oneshot based on the song Killing Me Softly where reader is in love with Javier but he doesn’t feel the same (pure angst and suffering, similar to Not in that Way, except he doesn’t love her back lmao)

Whiskey fic that takes place right after his wife and son die, and how he copes with that loss (with the help of Reader)

Javi series fic where he has a kid with one of the prostitutes he slept with in Colombia and she gets killed by narcos, so he takes his child back to the states with him and runs into/meets Reader (who becomes the baby’s pediatrician) and some other details i’m not gonna give away in case i actually do end up writing it 😂

so yeah, lots of ideas up in the air right now and i have no idea which ones i’m going to write (if they ever get written), but i’m super excited to see what stories i can come up with and hopefully y’all will enjoy them too! thanks for asking, Aeryn! ily 😘💜💜
