#putting this here in case anyone decides to go looking for more info about my particular guy here #1) soccer player 2) gay 3) started for italy met and got engaged to his future husband while there and adopted a girl #4) ends up spending the rest of his life in germany bc he got traded but he WAS able to get gay married there #because it's legal in germany and not italy. there was a moment when the people in the movie theatre and the capitol audience in the stands were laughing at the same things, having the same reactions to the games, to the deaths, to flickermans jokes, to the doctor's announcement...i wonder aren't we watching it for entertainment too

suzanne collins' books may exist in popular culture as "dystopian", but they have always been a meticulous and startlingly close social critique of our world. at what point does our own idolization of the movies and the books repeat that story? we watch just as the capitol audience does.

all dystopia eventually crosses a line from realistic futurism to current relevancy. how long will it take us to realize we've already crossed that line with these books? and the very people who need to realize this are the ones in that audience...real or fake, we're the same: consuming and consuming.

I've been playing Splatoon since the very first game. And seeing my playable character in the first game reappear and grow in Splatoon 2 and 3, makes my heart clench with bittersweet joy because I grew up with them.

Splatoon grew and I also grew and I couldn't be happier to grow up together.

#so many thoughts about her #the handmaid #the handmaid homestuck #homestuck ancestors #damara megido #homestuck #egg art #according to hussies book aradia was in contact with the handmaid to receive game instructions #which is interesting considering megidos can speak to the dead and the handmaid is one of the few ancestors alive #so either handmaid channeled a dead aradia or future aradia channeled a dead handmaid #handmaid could of also just manipulated the timeline to make sure aradia was the catalyst for the game being played #or something less more or equally complicated #and without this we just have to assume its maid powers allowing aradia to have flawless instruction of what to do or shes just a #level 3000 gigabrain girl genius at 13 years old #and instead of putting that interaction in the story we got. the dancestor flashes #so im a little miffed about it really
