Thank you!
Hello, can you draw Akari Furutaka in a skirt please?
Drawing braids hurts my brain. Btw, while i was drawing her hair, she reminded me of Toko Fukawa.

Okita Souji's work schedule
During the Edo period, low-ranking samurai working at Edo Castle had a "three-day shift," working two days and taking the third day off.
Working hours were shorter than now, and the work was divided into morning, evening, and night shifts.
This may sound somewhat enviable, but the pay was low, and the workers ended up working long hours at their own side jobs.
On the other hand, what was the work schedule like for the Shinsengumi, who were paid well but had to work hard?
Since there are no historical materials about the service shifts of the Shinsengumi members, I would like to speculate based on some records.
Since the Shinsengumi were often mobilized for emergencies, there were relatively few incidents, and I have referred to the events from the first year of the Genji Era to the second year of the Keio Era, when the organization seemed to be in place after the assassination of Serizawa Kamo.
Off-duty days?
In the first year of the Genji era, Tomizawa Chuemon, the village head of Hino and a fellow student, went to Kyoto and wrote in his diary that he often visited the headquarters.
According to this, on 2/2, Hijikata, Inoue, and Okita were at the headquarters from around noon to evening.
The following month, on 3/5, they attended the Peach Blossom Banquet hosted by Kondo and others. Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, Okita, Todo and others were there and returned home the next morning.
On March 11, a cherry blossom viewing party was held. Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, Okita, Toudou, and Takeda Kanryusai attended. After the banquet, they moved to Shimabara for an after-party, so it's likely that they returned home in the morning on this day as well.
Although we do not know the start time of either banquet, they must have been off duty that day or the next day.
The next month, on April 11, a farewell party was held for Tomizawa who had completed what he set out to do and was returning home. This was attended by Kondo, Hijikata, Inoue, and Okita. Since the party was held in the evening, it cannot be said that they were off duty.
Work days
Except for emergency dispatches such as the Ikedaya Incident, there is nothing that shows Okita's work days in the First Squad.
The mistaken arrest that caused trouble with the Higo clan was introduced in the article "Okita Souji's Apology Conference". If this was the work of the First Squad, 9/8 of Keio 1 is a work day.
On the other hand, for some reason, an attendance record still exists for Takeda Kanryusai and the 7th Squad.
Takeda was involved in the capture of Masuya (Furutaka Shuntaro) on 6/5 of the first year of the Genji era and the Akebonotei Incident on 6/10. It is believed that he belonged to the 3rd Squad at that time.
In the 7th Squad, Yano Shigetaro was captured on 5/12 in the leap month of Keio 1. On 9/12 of the following year, there is a record of Sanosuke Harada leading his unit to the Sanjo Noticeboard Incident.
It's noteworthy that in the Sanjo Noticeboard Incident, it's clear from the subsequent historical materials that Squads 3, 5, and 7 were deployed.
Although the 1st squadron was not dispatched, the other odd-numbered squads were all dispatched together, probably because they were on the same shift.
Morning shift, night shift, 3-day shift?
Then, assuming that the "Peach Blossom Banquet" was off-duty, I created a shift based on the same "three-day shift" as that of Edo Castle.
Then, the "Tomizawa's Farewell Party" was also off-duty for odd-numbered teams.
Also, Hijikata Kennosuke, a member of the Sennin Doshin (Thousand Men Army) who had come to Kyoto, visited the headquarters and held a drinking party on September 18, Keio 1 (1865) [edit: corrected typo], also off-duty, and Okita and Inoue of the First and Third Corps attended all the parties.
Furthermore, none of the days when Takeda and 7th Squad were deployed fell on off-duty days, but rather on work days.
However, 2/2, when Tomizawa visited, was a work day on this shift. Considering that Okita and the others were drinking until the evening, they may have been on a different shift before the "Peach Blossom Party," or they may have been on duty from the evening.
Since the Sanjo Noticeboard incident also did not involve the First Squad, it's also possible that they were on morning-duty on this day.
This is just a hypothesis, but I think that the Shinsengumi took turns off-duty for each even-numbered and odd-numbered squad, and that there was a morning shift and an evening shift on working days.
There is a high possibility that the work interval is a "3 days shift", but if it's based on odd or even numbers, there will be days when all employees are dispatched, so there may have been another group.
However, when Iba Hachiro went to Kyoto, he worked once every four days. Other diaries from the same period show consecutive days of work and consecutive holidays, which are irregular and depend on the organization.
The Shinsengumi's work schedule was announced in the morning, so even if there was a general schedule, it would have varied.
Incidentally, according to this schedule, the day Okita wrote a letter to his hometown informing them of Sannan's death fell on a day he was off duty.
It may have taken him a long time to write that painful letter...

Priority Research 6 Predictions - Sakura Empire
I would love a Sakura Empire PR for PR6 but they don't have that many options :/ However, I am going to present the most likely to y'all. This is the last PR6 prediction post, to check the others you can see the #priority research tag because I posted them all with that tag.
As always: Do not treat any of the following choices as guaranteed. I would not bet money on any of these specific ones getting added as part of PR6 this year, it's just the ships I see as Very LikelyTM.
Hizen
Honestly, the most unlikely. She's a bigger Izumo, and in terms of gameplay she is just a bigger Izumo and nothing else.
Her reload time is atrocious at 38 seconds for kind of good 410mm guns, but Izumo is free and Hizen costed money.
And you can't even get Hizen anymore.
Iwami
A strange battlecruiser, Iwami may look a lot like Hizen and that's because they're based on the same pre-Yamato designs. However, Iwami has a total of 4 cannons less in exchange of slightly better accuracy and a reload that's 10 seconds faster than Hizen's.
She also has Shimakazo torpedoes - 2 launchers at the rear with 4 torps each, and they have 20km range with ludicrous damage. The problem is that it's the 20km Shima torpedoes, which can be outrun by some ships and can also be spotted from the Moon.
Iwami also has another gimmick: half-decent secondaries. Kii at Tier 8 has better secondaries, imho, but Iwami's can be fun.
She would be PR.
Daisen
I haven't read much on Daisen yet, but from her stats, she's a fast little battlecruiser with incredibly bad armor, mediocre secondaries, very good main guns and 8 torpedoes per side. Those torpedoes do 20k damage each and have a 10km range, meaning she's no joke.
I don't know if she is PR or DR material, but I think she fits as a PR. Besides, unlike Iwami, she's very different from Izumo; meaning she wouldn't step on Izumo that much - which is my main concern.
Shikishima
The USS Georgia of the Yamato-class, Shikishima is the same hull as Yamato with somewhat better secondaries and six 510mm guns instead of 9 460mm guns. She's more accurate and reloads faster than Yamato, meaning that sticking Isoroku Yamamoto on this baby is very fun due to his buffs.
However, unlike Georgia, she would be a DR. A very powerful DR that would 'powercreep' (if you believe that thing exists in AL) most other UR BBs until Yamato comes out.
I imagine Shikishima being the weird one of the Yamato family. She would be a stealthy assassin, who kills her enemies from within the shadows. Mainly because that's how she is in the Tegarrian Lore (@tegarrianlore) lol.
Yoshino
Honestly, Yoshino feels unlikely. She is, effectively, a bigger Azuma with 8 Shimakaze torpedoes per side. Her gimmick is that she has excellent 310mm HE shells but also has access to anti-camping 20km torpedoes.
However, if Yoshino gets added, she would be DR. Which makes me feel she's even more unlikely.
Shimanto
Takahashi
I group these 2 together as equally likely because they are the new additions to the Japanese tech tree - the Tier 8 and Tier 9 light cruisers - and both suck.
I enjoy the freemium Tokachi at Tier 7, as she's a Furutaka with 127mm guns and that HE spamming is fun, but these other cruisers with bigger 155mm guns simply aren't worth it.
However, we know their performance in WoWs doesn't mean shit for Azur Lane. The best example imho is FdG, who is just plain old bad in WoWs but is a murderhouse in AL. I believe they could be fun, little HE spammers in AL that have massive torpedo-buffing abilities, to both themselves and the whole fleet.
Hayate
A unique (for Japan's standards) destroyer that has both good guns and good torpedoes. They normally excell only at guns (Kitakaze) or only at torpedoes (Shimakaze) - Hayate is good with both.
However, in AL she could be the DR gunboat equivalent to Shimakaze's excellent torpedo perfomance. The Death by Thousand Cuts of AL.
BONUS - MOST UNLIKELY
Tokachi
As stated above, she is a Furutaka with destroyer guns. They reload incredibly slowly at 7 seconds between shots, but most of her turrets can spin 360º and do so incredibly quickly.
The problem is Tokachi is Tier 7. We have not gotten any Tier 7 or lower PR and I doubt Tokachi will be the first one.
Ashitaka
There is a saying within the WoWs community, "you can't say Ashitaka without saying shit".
She's bad. Attrociously bad. Absolute girlfailure.
A Tier 7 version of Amagi, she has worse guns, worse accuracy, worse shells, no armor, and worse health. With Kii being an option, and Amagi being researchable, there is genuinely no reason for Ashitaka to be in the game.

I imagine everyone who only read Disco is doing a double-take at “Katou Junichi-kun” (Sakurazuki, is that you?!)
The truth is that Maijo just really likes using a “star system” of sorts, where characters with the same name and looks will show up in different works as completely different people; a good example is how the Angel Bunnies have different members in different novels--Abe and Furutaka are Angel Bunnies here, but some random punks in Disco.
#sparkly reads english tsukumojuuku#maijo and jdc stuff#...or you might subscribe to the silly theory that ms suzuki was pulled out of afterlife by sakurazuki and he went to check on her irl#and they got together somehow

Yamato, noting Fischl's eyepatch, immediately thought of Kiso (who also wore one) and Furutaka (whose left and right eyes were slightly different). "Hmm, I see. Were you perhaps part of a smaller fleet? Smaller port?" Few of those remained, as the consolidation of the fleet's members and resources at this single naval base in Yokosuka Bay continued over the years.
"Fischl," she repeated, glancing the girl over once more before questioning further, "Are you from Germany? It's been a while since the last German girls joined us here."
The girls at work or training in the naval base were identifiable by the rigging, weaponry and equipment that they carried on patrol. Destroyers, light cruisers and heavy cruisers carried guns and torpedoes, increasing in size; battleships carried large main guns and an assortment of secondary and dual-purpose mounts; and the aircraft carriers could be seen training with their planes, of course, and had different methods of launching them (bows, guns, scrolls, etc.). Most flew Japanese flags, though one could also find ensigns and jacks from the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, France, and even Sweden, the Netherlands, and Australia.
Balloons and explosions dotted the skies above as some of the fleet girls conducted an anti-air drill.
@hotelyamato continued from here:
It was an ordinary planet of land and sea, except the sea was filled with a bunch of alien-like creatures called Abyssals, whose sole purpose was to make life miserable for anyone who thought that sailing, fishing and cruises were decent ways to spend their time. Not to worry, though, for there existed a small group of (super?)humans called "fleet girls" who could go out to sea and use guns, torpedoes, planes, the whole lot to take the fight to the Abyssals. This particular naval base was the busiest of them all; most of the girls here were on patrol or training, though a few were resting for the moment, not least of which this one in a modified sailor suit, carrying an umbrella and three of the largest gun turrets ever fitted to a fleet girl.
Yamato's first instinct, upon seeing the other girl walking towards her, was that she might be a new fleet girl—perhaps a heavy cruiser, based on her build. "Hello there! Are you new to the naval base?" she greeted.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Everything about this world was similar but just simply different to what she was familiar with. Even the threat that imposed itself upon the world felt similar to what she once feared in her youth. An unknowable danger that exists beyond normal comprehension, threatening the world itself - battled through means and powers equally beyond expected limits.
⠀⠀⠀⠀More than anything, it's proof that no matter the world, the people will find their own way to adapt to the nightmares of their life - find a way to rise above the dangers and fight for the future they wanted.
"Ah, yes I suppose I am..."
⠀⠀⠀⠀Her arrival own arrival on the world so far seemed to be greeted with a surprisingly lax mentality, as if she had a similar origin to all of its current residents. She supposed that in a sense she could be seen that way, especially given the confidence she tends to carry herself with.
"My name's Fischl, and I just got here a few minutes ago. It's... Quite a bit different than what I expected, actually."
⠀⠀⠀⠀The 'fleet girls' themselves were fascinating - maybe Herta would be interested in hearing about this? She'll have to spend some time here and see if she can help out first before bringing it up, though.

Are the tortures inflicted by Hijikata depicted in fiction, true?
The most well-known story would be the torture of Furutaka Shuntaro before the Ikedaya Incident.
The method of interrogation, carried out by Shinsengumi vice-commander Hijikata Toshizō was alleged to be particularly brutal, although it appears to be largely without verification. With the prisoner unresponsive, Hijikata was said to have suspended the man by his ankles, restraining his wrists, and driven five-inch spikes into the heels of the man's feet. Placing lit candles upon the holes, hot wax dripped deep into his calves. The prisoner eventually claimed that they planned to set fire in Kyoto and capture Matsudaira Katamori, the daimyō of the Aizu clan whose duties included policing Kyoto at the time.
(source: Wikipedia)
I was able to verify that this did happen in Nagakura Shinpachi's diary (浪士文久報国記事):
The Shinsengumi took him into custody to their headquarters, where they examined him and found that his true identity was Furutaka Shungoro (Shuntaro). He was questioned again and again, but he would not confess. When they tortured him, he finally confessed to all of them.
The diary entry itself doesn't say that Hijikata tortured him, but the historian Kimura Sachihiko says it was Hijikata in the commentary.
I also learned from this answer that there is a description of the torture in Shinsengumi Tenmatsuki (新選組顛末記) (a memoir written based on interviews with Nagakura):
They chased down Furutaka and took him back to their headquarters in Mibu. Commander Kondo interrogated Furutaka himself, but Furutaka did not say anything, as he had come to Kyoto with the resolve to die. Even when his back was torn open from all the beating he had taken, he kept his eyes closed, gritted his teeth, and did not open his mouth even when he fainted. Hijikata Toshizo, the second-in-command, was at his wits' end and, after much ingenuity, he first tied Furutaka's hands behind his back and then hung him upside down on a beam.
Then he inserted a five-inch nail into the sole of his foot and lit a candle on it. The wax flowed down and a hot, lead-like substance spread from the soles of Furutaka's feet to his shins. Even the determined Furutaka could not stand this persistent and brutal pain, and after struggling for about half a minute, he finally opened his mouth and revealed his comrades’ secret plan.
[Note: I wasn't able to find this paragraph in my copy of Shinsengumi Tenmatsuki, but it was quoted here from this edition, so I might have an incomplete version]
Since these are primary sources from Nagakura, it seems credible that Hijikata did torture Furutaka.
As for other cases of torture, according to this answer:
The only story of horrendous torture is that of Furutaka.
Rather, it's proven that the torture was done because the Shinsengumi had obtained extraordinary information.
There is no story of torture of spies who infiltrated the Shinsengumi.
In addition, Asahigata Kametaro (旭形亀太郎), a Choshu sumo wrestler who was a secret spy, said in a historical discussion meeting that he was captured and tortured by the Miburoshi before he joined the Shinsengumi, and that he was tied up to a pine tree and doused with water.
Incidentally, Kametaro later joined the Miburoshi.
There are no other stories of torture.
If that's true then Hijikata and the Shinsengumi did torture people, but probably not as much as they’re often depicted.
On a side note, here's what I found out about this Shinsengumi member named Asahigata Kametaro, who lived an interesting life...
A spy? A Shinsengumi member from the Choshu Sumo Wrestler Corps?
Asahigata Kametaro who was captured by the Shinsengumi
