Alright one fake scare later, Mari is ready to tell Shirase what’s on her mind:

Basically? Mari has inmense respect for what Shirase is trying to do. Given her wishes of wanting to do something big and important but always backing down at the last second, meeting someone that ACTUALLY has the drive for a sorta impossible dream, despite the world being against her? Is amazing to her.

Shirase does appreciate the encouragment (with a pure smile you’re FORBIDDEN to see :P) but also... she doesnt care about what others say. Her determination also relays on the people that think she cant (honestly is a sentiment I had a lot during highschool myself, specifically against my homeroom teacher) and then Mari asks the question that shall change her life (if she chooses to):

to which the answer... is just as simple as complex as it can be:

yeah... wait what?

Me: ............................ fine.

You know, I didn’t ever actually skip a class until I was in college?  I was a bit of a snooty little prick about it in my head, honestly.  Took it as a point of pride, despite it just being so I could say I’d never skipped rather than because I cared about my education.

A more interesting school-skipping subject actually happens in the pages of the early 2000s Teen Titans comic book; the then-Superboy Connor is staying with the Kents, and Superman catches him skipping school because he’s so tired of blending in.  Instead of saying Connor shouldn’t be skipping school, the big blue boy scout tells Connor that he just shouldn’t be lying to the Kents, who will let him skip school if he needs a day off because he’s not the first superpowered child they’ve raised and they know how stressful it is.

That’s always been one of the defining points of the Superman mythos to me.  It’s fun to find situations where I can talk about it.

But first a little background:

While I was liveblogging Yuru Camp I knew it was just really fluff so I wanted to try something more, didnt know WHAT at the time, just wanted it to be a good “journey” because that’s the kind of show I like you know? Where we go from point A to point B... but the good is all the pit stops before it... and for some reason A Place Further Than The Universe came into my mind.

I have INFO on it... but all bits and pieces and the most important being that its an emotional journey... so in my mind while liveblogging Yuru Camp I though “I want to try this one nexr” and you know? by April 1st of 2019...

The universe told me “go ahead, while this is an April Fools joke, this might mean something”

SO yeup lets go check a new set of (hopefully) fluffy girls? Althought fluffiness with FEELS might be a more accurate idea? Anyway this is gonna be “fun” :D

BUT FIRST THREE IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

I take time, not because im insightful (though I like to try) but because I have stuff to do around the house and sometimes get distracted, will do my best to do the whole episode in one day, but it will LITERALLY take me the whole day (i expect so since for the fluffy girls before took me a bit less and that was way more simple for what I understand)

I’m the kind of liveblogger that goes for the jokes, the puns, maybe memes or reactions. Also sometimes haikus and writting because old good bittersweet memories

THIS ONE IS IMPORTANT! Up until now I’m way more chill about spoilers than other livebloggers, seeing something is more important that HEARING what happened so I waltz around... buuuuuut while that’s fine with simplier shows like Yuru Camp and Komi-san... I dont want to be spoiled how some girl will kick me in the feels okay? Basically let me enjoy the trip and if you wanna tell me something about it wait until it ACTUALLY HAPPENS (i check all reblogs and comments btw)

And without much more to say... oh wait one last thing! under the cut is what I vaguely know about this anime. Okay I think that’s it... lets begin this new journey :D

Okay i know the premise is that a girl and then a group wants to go to antartica... or one of the poles... or a really cold place. Someone on a discord I go tried to make this vague and ended up making it confusing... which is hilarious because the next thing I know

THEY DO MAKE IT THERE... and apparently there’s a couple episodes about the journey given the thumbnails of the episodes, will be interesting to see

I know from a random video from crunchy on facebook a mom is an important character, or important enough that she caught her daughter doing something

I remember a gif that’s really emotional that I guess is from after the trip? wont elaborate but I wanna see it with actual context

The characters? probably seen the names but no clue which is which so bare with me while I learn names (or get them silly nicknames)

I know Loreweaver is watching this too... I might wanna check his liveblog and reblog some as extre commentary... but a legit question: should I do it when I finish or go by episode?

Apparently this happens during the girls graduating highschool years cause I think I heard there’s a graduation with music and all the crying involved

I think that’s it... know some beats, but overall I’m the most clueless about this than I was with both Yuru Camp of Komi-san... lets see if this makes it better (cant make it worse, trust me)

Oh okay thankfully Megu-chan does give us a bit more of a reference abou... wait a second. Isnt that onigiri girl????? You know, the one that appears in the weirdest image of the OP and in another shot with a onigiri shirt?

Yeah im almost certain its her... also that that poster is proably a reference of another anime from that studio... will THAT be relevant? WHO KNOWS BY THIS POINT!?!?!?!?!

Looking more into the OP

Or rather... questions the OP raise in my head and hopefully all will be answered by the end of the series:

1) Why Antartica? Of all places why exactly is that place so important... I guess its what gives the show its name? But why? I noticed Mari does have a penguin in her room so maybe is an extra dream of hers we haven seen yet?

2) So only 4 girls? Not that it will ruin anything is just the curiosity of it all, mainly cause they DID add a 5th girl for the April Fools Yuru Camp image, do they have a 5th ranger that sadly doesnt go?

3) Antartic Shenanigans? So apparently they WILL make it to the place and there’s bound to be shenanigans... are the ones in the OP just for show or we will see some of them actually happen?

4) WHY NOT CHILE!?!?!?!?!? Okay at least this answers where they’ll end up? I wont check that station in reality until later though...

5) *eyebrow raised full force*? okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay... I have questions and not really worries... just questions (I vaguely remember something about a performar/idol girl... guess that’s onigiri girl right here? mmm... we will see what’s up with this)

6) Will I get attached to this 4 smiling girls? That’s not a question, its a statement... how much? That we will see.

Okay while the crying also threw me for a loop I get were Mari is coming from (I think) she basically notices all the dreams she had and now is regretting HARD she fulfilled none of them, where will that lead us? well... I think I have an idea :P

OH! OH THAT’S ACTUALLY GOOD! With hearing this probably they think she is gonna get the money taken away or at least she wont have to have it on her anymore so no use bullying her. An interesting tactic and all things considered a bold move by Mari, good job!

So not much time later Mari has searched for the book (interesting and important contrast about how is the most colorful book in the whole lot). I can see where this is going, but lets see it happen (I might get another surprise again)

So the book seems to be a documentary type with pictures of the antartic, beautiful pictures I might add, no narration of what it says so It might not be important and yet Mari gives it her whole attention and as soon as she sees Shirase in the lower floor she rushes to her... but...

UGH... mandatory bullies? REALLY? DO WE REALLY NEED THESE PIECES OF... okay whatevs lets see what’s going on.
