5th alvin and the chipmunks movie (chipmunks: world tour) where they perform with hatsune miku. i know they are on the no fly list i do not care. can be a plot device. i also maybe want them to perform at a furry convention for the shits and giggles (theodore cannonically very afraid of fursuits if they are animals that can eat him. maybe the furries can help them on their journey).

Just got home from getting the basic work done on wig. It's cut and teased. We'll do the final styling after I go downstate for Youmacon, since it has to stay stored until then.
So most of you know I have the (evil) sister, but I also have a found sister. Literally a found-family situation, where she just became one of us lol. She's the one that did the base work on the wig, but she's already helping me plan my look for next year's Youma. The idea is still up in the air, but there is a possibility of me owning a custom fursuit in the coming year lol
I have to show you what this girl is capable of. These are pics of her fursona, Candy Stitches (which is a Skull Beast). She hasn't finished the kigsuit yet, but you still get a good idea of what she can do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also did her son's Huskysona. The pic angle kinda makes it look like a chipmunk, but you get the idea. There are also paws and feet (that I didn't get pics of).
Tumblr media
She has 3 other fursuit projects lined up, but we were discussing making the fursona version of my OC, and I'm kinda stoked at the idea lol

I decided to change my Fursona's(aka my Sona's furry form) species sense my own original furry species is getting closer and closer to finally open up.
Also I was just getting tired of how plain my chipmunk character was (and honestly didn't even look like a Chipmunk)
So here's my new and improved Fursona. This is Lime the Bellbearer. They are more specifically a cave Bellbearer.
(some parts of the reference may look goofy, but welp)
Tumblr media
(The Fursuit maker-friendly ref that I used was made by Zerayart)
They do have clothes, but since I want to get a fursuit of them one day (and it was recommended not to have clothing on references if they are for fursuits) I didn't draw them with clothes

Mysterious Lab Tech, what do you look like without the costume?
"If I wanted people to know, I wouldn't be wearing what is essentially a fursuit." the Mysterious Lab Tech replies.
(it still feels a little weird knowing the guy is in a costume and is not just a chipmunk man. And it also feels weird thinking that a chipmunk man would be a normal thing in a game XD)

Name: Third Research Scientist of Love Lab
Debut: Rhythm Heaven (DS)
Another post about a Rhythm Heaven character! There are so many Wacky Rhythm Heaven characters we can talk about. But it’s not every day we get to talk about Rhythm Heaven. It’s loosely attached to Mario, through WarioWare, but it’s just enough of its own thing that it is out of our field of view. This is not Super Mario’s Super Mario World. Getting to talk about Rhythm Heaven is a major event. We must savor the Funky Fridays we get to spend our elusive Rhythm Heaven points.
We’re using this Friday to talk about some dude in a squirrel suit.
youtube
He appears in Rhythm Heaven in the minigame Love Lab, which is actually one of my favorite games in the series! That’s right! I managed to get invested in a guy and a girl falling in love, something unexpected from my usual lesbian self. I can’t help it! I just love scientists. “Weird scientist” was like, my whole online persona way back in the day. (And besides, these two are both obviously bi. Look at them.)
Anyway that’s enough time talking about those two, they’re both regular humans and while I respect them and their relationship, they aren’t nearly as interesting as the third guy who is also there.
Tumblr media
What, you didn’t notice him? Well, it makes sense, I suppose. (iiiiiii suppose, yeah!) He’s just off-screen, catching the flasks You’re throwing. They realized it would be dangerous if you were throwing around chemicals and no one was catching them, as if throwing around chemicals isn’t dangerous in its own right, so they added this guy, and since he’s barely visible, why not make him Wacky? You’ll be so busy paying attention to the cute scientists and good tunes that you won’t even notice him.
The guy’s fully-sprited, but is tough to notice in-game considering how off-screen he is. He is so dang off-screen. Fortunately, you can get a better look at him if you get the Try Again screen!
Tumblr media
Yeah! Good job sucking at Love Lab! Your reward is Squirrel Man face reveal!
Or if you don’t want to ruin their relationship, you can just wait for the end credits where he also pops in during the cast call.
Tumblr media
Hello!
We know very little about Squirrel Man, but I think that’s kind of the point. They hid the guy off-screen, he doesn’t have much lore, I think his entire purpose is just to exist and be weird, which I think is delightful. I like the philosophy of whoever decided this minigame about scientists falling in love needed some guy who always wears a squirrel suit.
At least, that’s assuming this is a squirrel. Could be a chipmunk. (though scientifically speaking, chipmunks are a type of squirrel)
The main reason I say squirrel is because “Science Squirrel” is apparently a common trope in Japanese media? At least according to Mod Chikako, I know Risukuma from Puyo Puyo and Himari from Precure as a couple examples. And Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob, though that’s probably a coincidence, given that all the other examples have Japanese origins. If we’re to go with this, then that gives a little more explanation to this guy, but not too much. I think there’s still plenty of room to theorize what the heck this guy’s deal is.
And that is EXACTLY what I’m here to do! It’s half the reason I’m writing this post in the first place! Below the cut, is various theories about what this dude’s deal is.
1. He’s a furry, that’s his fursona.
Let’s get the obvious (and boring) one out of the way first, which is that this guy is a furry, that’s his fursona, and he always wears a fursuit for some reason. I mean, it makes some amount of sense, if we assume he’s that dedicated to the whole furry thing, then sure, why not wear his fursuit to the laboratory? The thing is, this theory is just such low-hanging fruit. It’s too obvious. Look at the guy. The explanation I think obviously has to be something weirder.
2. Genetically engineered Squirrel Man
This is probably the most obvious “more interesting” direction, and it’s not like it doesn’t make sense. The whole minigame is set in a laboratory, and if we take into account the characters’ blatant lack of lab safety, this isn’t your ordinary laboratory... Who’s to say there isn’t a bunch of weird science going on behind the scenes? I mean, one day they’re trying to figure out what love is, the next day they’re building a squirrel guy. Just your average laboratory shenanigans.
While it is stated in-game in the Lab Journal that he wears a suit, this is purely from the perspective of the green-haired girl, who is said to be new to the lab. Maybe she just thinks he’s wearing a squirrel suit. Maybe she doesn’t know the full truth.
Of course, I don’t think he HAS to be a squirrel man to be interesting...
3. Back on that comment about lab safety,
Full-body protection. While these other two are throwing around flasks full of chemicals without even wearing GOGGLES, this guy is making sure to protect every last inch of his body by wearing a squirrel suit. And maybe he’s wearing goggles under the suit, just for good measure!
Maybe this whole experiment wasn’t even about love, maybe it was about lab safety. Maybe this guy noticed how much his lab partners were smitten with one another, and were too distracted to pay attention to things like wearing proper gear in the lab. He theorized that their relationship had something to do with their total disregard for safety and he was right.
4. School mascot gone rogue
His uncanny full-body uniform is weird for a scientist, but perfectly normal for a school mascot. Maybe he was originally cheering on the university sports team, but eventually got tired of sports and decided to pursue a life of high science instead. Why doesn’t he take the suit off? Tough to say. Might loop back around to the lab safety thing.
Alternatively, in the Rhythm Heaven universe, maybe schools just have mascots for their labs alongside their sports. You know! To... help keep the science fair going?
5. He’s the one dude’s ex
The idea is that he’s simply the first scientist’s ex, they broke up on good terms, and so he still gets to stick around in the Love Lab. Does this do anything to explain why he’s wearing the squirrel suit? No, not really. Maybe the first guy just fell in love with the school mascot (see theory 4) and the squirrel guy just wanted to take interest in his boyfriend’s passions and so he signed up for a job at the Love Lab. And eventually they broke up but he decided to stay around the lab because now he was invested in learning about love. Something like that.
6. He’s lonely
Do you realize how tough it is to stand out in this world? And in a lab where everyone’s researching love all the time, how heartbreaking it can feel when you see everyone around you falling in love while you remain alone? He wanted to make sure everyone would notice him, so bam! Squirrel suit!
But that isn’t to say it was effective. If we go back to the Lab Journal, it took the green-haired girl three days to notice him at all, and he spends the entire minigame off-screen! Not even the CAMERA felt like keeping him in focus. Maybe if you see the squirrel guy at the Love Lab any time soon, you should give him a hug. Maybe he deserves it.
7. He Just Looks Like That
Some people just look like squirrels. It’s rude to stare.
Maybe none of these theories are true, maybe multiple of them are. We don’t know. We’ve never gotten much lore for this guy, but I’m kind of glad about that. This sort of intrigue breeds curiosity, and honestly the more wacky theories that can be proposed surrounding this guy’s existence, the better! It’s part of the reason I fall so in love with minor and obscure characters. You’re given just enough information to get an idea of what the character is, but are given a lot of room to let the creative juices flowing. That’s why I think Third Research Scientist of Love Lab is one of my favorite Rhythm Heaven characters. Congratulations!

2017 --> 2019 The most recent version here is not quite a perfect redo as it was done using a very different technique than the first two, but I think it's pretty interesting to see how my art style has evolved since my "furry renaissance" in 2017. I've had a fursona since I was about 11-12 years old but I definitely had a period around high school where I moved away from "furry" type art in fears that bright colorful animal characters were too "immature" and that dull "realistic" colors and human characters were the grown-up way to go. I can't say I entirely regret this phase, as it was definitely a good thing for me to branch out from what I'd been doing and learn to draw The Humanz™, I just wish it hadn't come with that mindset of being ashamed of all the old "cringy", "inherently amateur" stuff I'd done before. I am glad, though, that I was able to experiment with style and am now confident in drawing both animals and humans; I now draw both and will continue to draw both. I do think I am still more confident with animals when it comes to pushing shapes and character design; it just comes a little more intuitively to me, and probably always will. But it's nice to be able to switch between animal/human/somewhere-in-the-middle whenever I want, and to not be afraid to attempt a character simply because of its species. But anyways, with that said, in 2017 I discovered YouTube fursuiters; as someone who had already dabbled a little in cosplay it piqued my interest and with that I formally began to dip my toes back into "furry". And honestly, despite the bad rap furries get on the internet, I think it's been a really good experience for me! I've been to a couple of cons now and each has been a blast, as well as learned new skills by making my own fursuits. Not to mention making some amazing friends who've really been a great support network (shoutout to the LDS Furs group in particular, esp. Talon and the FFWRS ladies; it's so hard for me to find people who share both my interests and a lot of my worldview so y'all have honestly been a miracle! Thanks for being awesome!!). So I revamped my fursona for the first time in however-many-years, but at first I was a little out-of-practice and the results looked a bit clunky (ugh those chipmunk cheeks, kill it with fire). But I think I've gotten back into my groove and have really come a long way since then, resulting in a much more appealing and lively style. I've also been a bit frustrated for a while because I didn't feel like I was improving much, but looking at these definitely makes me feel a lot more confident that my art is indeed still moving forward. So I guess I'll just keep on keepin' on. Thanks to everyone who supports me and my art! : )

I realized that I have never shown my SaH fursuit here in my life :3
This summer I made it for a cosplay festival!)
The hedgehog's name is Godelium, he is one of my main OCs. And the one who strokes me and whose tail I was holding on to is my friend’s @taillesscomet fursuit and her chipmunk /squirrel (Godelium is gay! Both characters are guys!)
Later the fursuit was improved (since I got caught in the rain and had to change the helmet a little!) There are almost no photos from the second festival :"(

A Weekend In Boston
This story begins with my family and I taking a fun little trip to Boston. This was the weekend of Donald Trump's inauguration so naturally we wanted to get the hell out of the DC area. One bumpy plane ride and two short car rides later, we had arrived in Boston. We had two rooms booked for the Hyatt in Boston. Since we had an afternoon full of tiring travel, we were all very excited to get a great night's sleep later that night. Little did we know was to happen when we arrived. We pulled up to hotel and my dad noticed that there was a quite obscure mascot sitting on the bench outside. We had a good laugh and wondered what college, high school, or company it could have been representing. But it was hard for us to come up with a place that would have a bright blue and pink squirrel as their mascot. We pulled into the parking garage and began the search for a spot. After going up 10 levels we had not spot. All of us were shocked because there were an absurd amount of spots and it seemed odd that they would all be full. We were forced to valet the car for an overpriced fee. A little frustrated, my dad walked into the hotel. What he, my mom, and I saw next was something we were never expecting. It seems our mysterious mascot was not alone. And he was, in fact, not a mascot at all. The Hyatt in Boston was hosting the "New England Anthro Convention 2017". We had checked into a hotel that was hosting a furry convention. Now before I move on, I should explain what a furry is. Urban dictionary defines a furry as a person who "goes to conventions, wearing a fursuit, draws the art, writes the stories etc. but they talk using furry lingo, otherwise you're not furry". As we walked through the masses of furries we all exchanged looks of shock and confusion. We all had a certain look on our faces that said "wtf!?". I, of course, found the whole situations hilarious and respectfully snapped a few photos. Part of the reason that we came to Boston was for me to see my friends Erin and Holly who live in Boston. When I got to my room, I immediately facetimed them and told them they had to get over there as soon as possible. They came over to the hotel which was conveniently right next to her house and we began to explore. It turns out not only was it a furry convention, but there was also a wedding between two furries. Holly exclaimed, "I have to see this." and we hoped on the elevator to the ballroom on floor 16. In the elevator we met two furries. One was a chipmunk and the other a deer. They began conversation and asked if we were part of the convention. They were a bit letdown when we said no. Anyway we made it up to the 16th floor, but to our disappointment, the wedding was over. We did the the aftermath of the reception. It was a lot of stray, brightly colored fur and even a few heads left strewn across the room. It looked like a Dr. Seuss inspired crime scene. After the whole night of laughing and asking furries about their culture, my friends left and I decided to hit the hay. This is where the innocent furry convention took a turn. The animals began a night of partying which came along with loud music and slamming doors. I was getting constant texts of frustration from my mother telling me to stay packed up because we were going to leave in the morning. It didn’t end there though. Two separate fire alarms went off during the night at 2 am and 4 am. It was one of the worst night sleeps I’ve ever gotten. The trip overall was great though. I got some amazing food, saw my friends, and joined the women’s march.
