Genre: Angst/Fluff

Pairing: Namjoon x Reader

Word Count: 7.2k

A/N: Wow this one took me a while. But I’m hoping to grow this account more, so thank you for showing love already!!

“Oppa!” You squealed as you ran into the practice room where seven sweaty boys all sat around just relaxing, “I brought food!”

“Which one of us got food?” All seven heads popped up and looked right at you.

You pointed at Jin, “My brother duh!! And Jungkook Oppa!”

You were Kim Seokjin’s little sister. The one he treasured beyond words. He was so protective of you, it seemed as if no boy would be approved by him. The only one he would allow you to date is Jungkook since he took such great care of you. But you didn’t see Jungkook in that way, you two were more like two peas in a pod. When you and Jungkook met, you discovered that you two were only a week apart, so you both used that as your reason to be as close as you are now.

However, the one you had eyes for was the closest member to your brother, Kim Namjoon, otherwise known as RM the leader of BTS. You knew damn well Jin wouldn’t allow that. But you also knew damn well that he had feelings for you. But it was too hard to tell if he knew about your feelings for him.

“I am the adopted brother,” Jungkook took the box of food from you, “I am appreciative of the sister I wish I had!” He kissed your forehead and then walked away with the food.

Jin took the other box from you, “Thank you little sister! Do you want to stay for awhile and I’ll bring you home?”

You nodded, “Sure!”

It wasn’t odd for you to spend so much time with the boys. Everyone had a special connection with you. J-Hope loved to dance with you, Yoongi loved that you would always cook meat for him, Jimin loved to play videogames with you, Taehyung loved watching movies with you and well Jungkook, he’s your partner in crime. But when it came to Namjoon, he loved it when you were around in general. You lit up the room everytime you came in. Your laugh was infectious. Your hugs always made him feel relaxed. And he loved that you were accepting of him for who he genuinely was, Kim Namjoon who is a destructive beast, lovable, but mainly destructive.

Currently you were sitting with Jungkook, sharing earbuds, and watching videos of puppies doing funny things. Everyone else was just lounging around the room, by the looks of it, they were done with practice for the day.

“What are you two watching?” A deep voice came from behind you and you turned around to find Namjoon towering above the two of you from behind the couch. A light blush came to your cheeks when you saw him.

God he’s so handsome�� And he was just in shorts and a tshirt.

“Puppy videos hyung,” Jungkook held up the phone, “Doesn’t this look like Miri from that run episode?”

Without taking his eyes off of you and you not escaping his gaze, he responded to Jungkook, “Mhm.”

God this man had eyes that you can so easily get sucked into. They were so deep, but beautiful. His profile was so...prince like. Honestly, you couldn’t find anything wrong with him. The way he just stared at you, it made you melt.

“Umm guys?” Jungkook was snapping his fingers in between the two of you, “Hello?”

You snapped out of it right away and your cheeks flushed pink, “Sorry Oppa! Were you saying something?” Not even Jungkook knew about your feelings towards Namjoon. You heard him chuckle behind you and walk away.

“What was that about?” Jungkook raised an eyebrow.

“Nothing,” you leaned on him, “Can we continue puppy videos please?”

The look Jungkook gave you meant that you guys were definitely talking later. You weren’t off the hook with this one. Little did you know, all the members just saw what happened, including your brother. You couldn’t see it from where you were sitting, but Jin’s knuckles were turning white and his face red, because he knew exactly what was up.

You spent the next couple of hours just chilling with Jungkook and the boys as they got ready to call it a day at Big Hit. You yawned and stretched when suddenly someone poked your sides, which was your weakest spot.

“Yah!” You turned around thinking it would be Jungkook or your brother, but it wasn't. In front of you stood Yoongi and Namjoon. His eyes trapping you yet again.

“What are you doing for the rest of the evening?” Yoongi asked, “Want to come over to eat some meat with us? I’ll buy it if you cook!”

You couldn’t resist eating meat with Yoongi. Even though the food was always good, Yoongi always put on a show every time he ate meat cause he just loved it so...damn...much.

You looked over at your brother who was talking to Jimin, back at Yoongi and Namjoon, your brother again and then you smiled, “Sure why not! I’m sure my brother is more comfortable knowing I’m at his apartment then walking the streets of Seoul by myself,” you turned to your brother, “Oppa!” you shouted from across the room, “Guess who’s coming over for dinner!”

“Not you!” he mocked you at the same time you called out to him, “Wait are you really?”

“Yep! Yoongi Oppa and Namjoon Oppa asked me too!”

“That means we can play more video games!” You heard Jimin cheer from your brother's side.

“Yah! She’s coming over because she agreed to cook for ME.” Yoongi playfully kicked Jimin leaving you with Namjoon.

“I’m glad you’re coming over,” he said as he watched the two boys play fight, “It’s always a good time when you’re around.”

“I missed being with all you Oppas while you guys were on tour. I’ll take every chance I can get,” you smiled warmly at him, “You guys all make me happy. Especially you Namjoon Oppa!” You skipped away and linked arms with your brother as you guys made your way out of the building and too the vans.

In the car you sat in the back row with your brother and Namjoon in between the two of you siblings. You yawned as you looked at the night skyline of Seoul past the windows. Car rides always relaxed you, and being with your most favorite people made you content.

“Namjoon look at this,” Jin held out his phone, “What if I ate this for the next Eat Jin episode?” It was a picture of some Filipino delicacy called Dinuguan.

But before Namjoon could answer, he was caught by surprise when he felt your head fall onto his shoulder, you had fallen asleep. You were snoring quietly, one earbud hanging out of your ear while the other stayed in.

“Aw, she’s so cute. I wanna squish her cheeks.” Hobi said as he turned around to look at you and Namjoon.

Namjoon smiled warmly and moved your hair out of your face so that way it wouldn’t fall into your slightly parted open mouth. He took your other earbud that was hanging and put it in your ear because he thought your music would help you have a calm and peaceful sleep. Namjoon totally ignored the hyung next to him who was waiting for an answer, with his mouth hanging open, anger slowly fueling in the pit of his stomach.

Jin smacked Namjoon and angrily, but quietly, whispered, “Yah! Watch your hands!”

“Hyung relax,” Namjoon didn’t take his eyes off of you, he smiled warmly at your sleeping face, “She’s really comfortable. I’ll wake her up when we get back home.”

But there was no way Jin was comfortable with Namjoon being this way towards you. He was wishing that it was Jungkook instead of Namjoon who was loving and affectionate towards you.

“She’s really adorable when she’s like this, hyung how come you’re not like that?” Namjoon mocked Jin earning another smack from him.

“I’m serious, watch your hands on my sister and watch what you say about her.”

“Hyung relax!” you hear Taehyung from the front of the van, “It’s not like he’s hurting or trash talking her! Why are you suddenly being so anal about it?”

But before Jin could answer, they arrived back home.

Namjoon nudged you softly, “Hey (Y/N), we’re home, wakeup.”

You yawned and rubbed your eye, half awake you looked right at Namjoon, “Did I fall asleep Oppa?”

“Yup and you drooled ALLLLLL OVERRRR my shoulder.” Namjoon thought it would be fun to tease you because the reaction he got out of you, well he wished he recorded it.

“E-EH?????” Your eyes widened and you quickly patted his shoulder with a napkin you had in your bag, “W-wait...it’s dry...you’re teasing me again!” You pouted and turned away from Namjoon.

“If you two are done here, I would like to get out of the car, please and thank you.” Your older brother said bitterly from behind Namjoon.

You kept your playful pout and hopped out of the car before linking arms with your best friend, “Oppaaa~ Joonie Oppa is teasing me again!”. You only called him Joonie every now and then, but everytime you did, his heart would melt.

“Can I join in the teasing?” Jungkook flicked your forehead, “Oppaaaa~ Aish, you’re so full of energy every time you wake up from a nap.” He mocked your voice playfully.

You pouted again and ran to Yoongi, “Oppa they’re being mean to me, can we eat now?”

Yoongi flashed his gummy smile at you, “Yes! I am hungry!” he cheered as he dragged you inside their dorm.

You sat down in the kitchen, “Yoongi Oppa are you gonna buy meat?”

He opened the fridge and pulled out a bunch of pre packaged trays of various meats waiting to be cooked, “I kinda expected that you were gonna come when Jin hyung told us you would be stopping by today. So I had this express delivered,” he plopped them down on the counter, “Both you and your brother are great cooks.”

“Which is why I’ll be helping her today,” Jin came into the kitchen rolling up the sleeves of his hoodie, “It’ll be nice to spend some quality time with my sister.” He wrapped his arm around your shoulder protectively and you guys both flashed the same bright smile.

“Even better,” Yoongi began to walk out of the kitchen, “Seems like my services won’t be needed today”.

“Yeah but you’re on cleaning duty. This was your idea.” Jin began unpackaging the meat while you prepared the various types of marinades.

Soon enough it was just you and your older brother in the kitchen preparing the food. It may have been silent, but you knew something was bugging your brother. You could just tell with those sibling instincts.

“(Y/N),” he paused after setting some meat on the stove, “I know you’re growing into a woman, and if you ever fall for someone, I want to know about them first before you bring them to meet me, hyung and our parents ok?”

You nodded, “What brings this up Oppa?” Could he tell that you had feelings for Namjoon? What was he thinking? Were you that obvious? Did Namjoon tell him that he likes you?

You heard shuffling in the hallway in front of the kitchen but you assumed it was one of the boys just running from the room to the living room. You placed some samgyeopsal on the pan and turned towards your brother, “Are you okay Oppa?”

“No. I actually am not” he set down his chopsticks and turned towards you, “How would you feel if your best friend liked your sibling?”

“Well my best friend is Jungkook Oppa… we know their family well. I would be fine with it.” You shrugged. You knew where he was getting with this, well at least you thought you did.

“Okay not Jungkook. Let’s say someone like Juggyeong from back home, how would you feel if she liked me?” He turned back to the pan and stirred some of the meat in there.

“I would 100% support. Juggyeong Unnie is a great girl. I wouldn't mind. Why do you ask? Does she like you?” You were secretly hoping that this story was true and that he wasn’t suspecting anything between you and Namjoon. You know your brother's habits and you weren’t sure exactly how he would react in this situation.

“No. That story was fake, the situation was real, but the story was fake.”

“I’m so confused,” you slid the now cooked samgyeopsal onto a plate and began to cook the brisket, “I really am.”

“Namjoon likes you…”

The room was silent. In your mind you were screaming, you already knew he liked you, but the fact that your brother knows, means he really really likes you. But the fact that your brother was also acting like this shows that he wasn’t approving of it.

“And I don’t approve of this…” he continued on, “I know you like him too. It’s obvious by the way you two act with each other. I don’t approve of it one bit.”

There it was. Your heart dropped hearing those words come out of your brother's mouth. Your brother meant the world to you but the fact that he was talking about this, you knew he wasn’t kidding. He’s serious.

“I- Oppa... “ you looked down trying to hold your tears in, “B-but why?”

“Yes Hyung, why?” You heard Namjoon’s voice at the doorway of the kitchen, “Why don’t you approve of our feelings for each other?” His voice was deep, and serious. His eyes were dark but longing for an answer.

You stood there silently just prepping up the remainder of the food. You suddenly lost energy to speak.

But at least Namjoon knew you liked him.

“You’re my sister,” Jin never looked up from the pan he was working on, “You’re my best friend. Do you think that would work exactly? No. No it won’t. I won’t let it happen.”

“Oppa...I really do like Namjoon Oppa. I care for him a lot.” You said quietly as tears slowly streamed down your face. You really wanted to be with Namjoon, but you also really wanted to make your brother happy and proud of you.

Namjoon saw you and started making his way over to you. He wanted to comfort you, but Jin stepped in the way, “Remember what I said in the car. Watch your boundaries with my sister. I don’t want her getting hurt.”

“Hyung,” Namjoon’s voice started growing louder, “Look. If nobody comforts her, she’s going to end up getting more hurt.”

“That won’t happen if I’m protecting her from getting hurt!” Jin’s voice started rising too, “I’m her big brother. It’s my responsibility to make sure she doesn’t experience it!”

“Are you assuming that I would hurt her? Hyung, you know you can trust me, if I hurt her I would never be able to forgive myself!” Namjoon placed his hand on Jin’s shoulder, “Hyung please trust me on this.”

But Jin shrugged off Namjoon’s hand, “I would rather not take the chance of her getting hurt in general!”

You heard shuffling and mumbling getting closer to the kitchen, so you wanted the boys to stop arguing before things got even more out of hand. You placed a hand on your brother's shoulder but before he could say anything he pushed you off, “You know, you know how protective I am of my sister,” he reached for Namjoon’s shirt and pulled him angrily, “Do you really think you’re going to get an okay from me?” He clenched Namjoon’s shirt in his hand.

You really didn’t like where this was going and you tried to pull your brother away from Namjoon again. But Jin pushed you a little too hard this time and you fell down and hit your head on the cabinet doors. It wasn’t hard but it definitely did hurt. And you now had tears streaming down your face.

“(Y/N)!” Both Jin and Namjoon ran in your direction but Jungkook pushed them out of the way and got to you first.

Jungkook wrapped his arms around you and was stroking the back of your head where you hit it, “Oh my god, are you okay? Does it hurt? Do you want ice?” He lifted your head to look into your eyes just to make sure you didn’t have a concussion but it was too hard for him to tell, “Do you want me to call a doctor to come and check on you?”

Jin’s heart dropped when he realized what he did to you. He turned off the stove and stooped next to Jungkook, “(Y/N)...(Y/N) I’m so sorry. I- Oppa didn’t mean it”. You could hear the sadness in his voice. His hands were shaking as he tried to reach for you.

Namjoon stooped down on the other side of Jungkook. He looked at you, eyes soft, “(Y/N)... are you alright?” His voice was caring and sweet. As much as you wanted to hop into Namjoon’s arms, you didn’t want to hurt your brother. So you decided to just keep your head hidden in Jungkook’s chest.

“Hyungs,” Jungkook helped you stand up, “I’m going to bring her to the bedroom. I think she needs some space right now”. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and quietly walked you to the room, “I’ll call the doctor to come and check on you. It’ll be a bit but I want to make sure you don’t have a concussion. That hit sounded pretty hard”. He took out his phone and typed a message to the doctor before looking at you, “Are you feeling alright?”

Tears welled up in your eyes as you just sat on your best friend's bed, “Oppa…”

Jungkook quietly hugged you and leaned his head on top of yours, “Can you please tell me what happened? We’re best friends, we’re always open with each other. Now tell me please.”

“I like Namjoon Oppa. A lot”.

“Oh, and let me guess, he likes you too, then your brother found out… predictable Jin Hyung”. Jungkook chuckled and sat next to you, “How are you feeling though?”

“I- I don’t know. I’m confused, upset and sad all together. I knew Oppa liked me, but I’m confused at why my brother won’t let him go any further with me. I’m upset at myself for getting in between the two of them. I’m sad because Jinnie Oppa won’t approve of Namjoon and I. I want to make my brother proud and happy, but I’m afraid I’ll hurt him. But then I don’t want to break Namjoon’s heart, because if I do, I’m breaking my own too. I don’t know Kookie Oppa, I don’t want to hurt anyone but I want to be happy at the same time.” You crawled into Jungkook’s arms and cried silently. He just rubbed your back while you let everything out.

There was a quiet knock at the door and Jimin popped his head in, “The doctor’s here (Y/N)”.

Jungkook stood up and wiped your tears, “I’ll be right outside if you need me okay?”

“Check on my brother and Joonie Oppa please? And make sure you guys start eating”.

Jungkook smiled at you warmly, “You always take good care of us”.

He closed the door and left you in there with the doctor. Jungkook walked out to find the boys silently nibbling at food on the kitchen table. Namjoon was sitting on one completely opposite end of the table, away from Jin, who buried his face in his hands, barely moving, not touching his food, and the occasional sniffs because he was crying.

When Namjoon saw you enter the kitchen he shot up from his chair, “How is she? Is she okay?”

Jin slowly lifted his head, eyes puffy and red from crying. He didn’t say anything but he was waiting to hear an answer from Jungkook.

“I’m not sure if she has a concussion or not, we’ll wait to hear that from the doctor,” he took a seat next to Taehyung, “But the poor thing has so many emotions running through her right now. She’s confused as to why you won’t let her be with Namjoon Hyung. She’s upset because she wants to make Jin Hyung happy but she doesn;t want to break Namjoon Hyung’s heart, because if she did, she’s breaking hers by doing so. She doesn’t want to be selfish even though she wants to be happy. She’s sad because you two were fighting. She’s upset at herself for driving a wedge between you two” Jungkook started putting a plate together for you and for him.

“She didn’t get to eat the meat with me…” Yoongi murmured quietly.

“Not the time Hyung.” Jimin punched him in the arm.

After fixing your plate Jungkook started fixing one for himself. But just as he finished the doctor had come into the kitchen.

“How is she doing?” Namjoon walked up to the doctor.

This time Jin stood up, quietly, not saying a word. He was just waiting to hear the answer officially that he hurt you. His precious little sister. There wasn’t any way Jin could forgive himself for doing so. His hands were shaking at his sides, but Hoseok came and put a hand on his shoulder to help him calm down.

“She does have a concussion,” he handed Namjoon a paper with symptoms listed down, “I know she doesn’t live with you but I advise her to stay here for the next night or two. If she exhibits any of these symptoms within the next 48 hours, please bring her into the emergency room as soon as possible so she can receive more extensive treatment. She should still eat and make sure she drinks lots of fluids. In the case of headaches, use an ice pack or heating pad on her head for now so we can avoid the consumption of any possible blood thinners in case of a need for treatment. Make sure she gets plenty of rest and no excessive activity.”

All seven of the boys bowed to the doctor and Hoseok walked him out.

When the door closed, Jin slid down onto his knees and started crying. Namjoon walked away and locked himself in the bedroom.

“I think we should lock those two in a room until they make up.” Taehyung whispered into Yoongi’s ear.

Yoongi leaned down next to Jin and rubbed his back before guiding him over to the couch to sit down and try to cool off. Jungkook finished making your plate and walked back over to the room. He opened the door quietly to find you sitting all the way at the head of his bed, leaning your back into the wall, trying to hide in the corner. Your face was blank, but you looked completely exhausted.

“Want to eat something?” he held out the plate of meat that you helped cook, “You did a really good job cooking this, it's yummy!”

You sighed and slightly smiled, “Kookie Oppa, you’re really great you know that?”

“Oh I know, you’re blessed with the greatest best friend to ever exist, I hope you know that”, He sat next to you on the bed, placed your food in your lap and began to eat from his own plate, “I’ve always got you. We’ve done everything together, nothings gonna stop us now!” He gave you one of his signature cheeky smiles and you leaned your head on his shoulder.

“How’s Joonie Oppa?” You placed a small piece of meat in your mouth, “Is he okay?”

“He’s a little upset and sad, but he’ll be fine. He knows to give you your space,” Jungkook on the opposite hand took big chunks of his food and placed it in his mouth, “He’s currently in his room right now.”

“How’s my brother?” You fiddled with the chopstick waiting for an answer. Your brother and you have fought before, but nothing of this level, so you weren’t sure how to progress with this situation.

“In all honesty, Hyung is a mess. He’s sitting on the couch right now with Yoongi hyung trying to calm him down. You know your brother is just like this because he loves you right?” Jungkook noticed you weren’t really eating, so he took a piece of your food and ate it, “If you’re not eating your plate, I will. But Jin Hyung is being the typical older brother who wants to protect you. He doesn’t want to see you get hurt, let alone by one of his best friends. He wants you to be happy, but happy and not hurt. But he’s also having trouble accepting the fact that you’re no longer his little sister who would run around the house in little dresses anymore.”

“I... I wish he would tell me that,” you sighed and yawned, “You guys are away so much, that I guess it just kind of made my brother and I’s relationship like this”.

“Are you tired? The doctor said you should get plenty of rest, and advised you not to be alone for the next 48 hours, so I guess you're stuck with me.” He got up and pulled out one of his hoodies and a pair of basketball shorts for you to wear, “I know damn well you brought nothing with you, So you can use those and just stay with me if you don’t want to be with your brother or Namjoon Hyung right now.” Jungkook really was the best friend you needed. You were extremely grateful for him.

Jungkook walked out of the room with your guys plates and so that you could change. He walked into the kitchen, put the plates down and then walked into the living room. Jin stopped crying and he was just sitting there with that same blank face that you had in his room. He knew you left an emergency toiletries bag with him so he decided to ask where it was, “Hyung, your sister is gonna stay the night. Where’s all her things that she left with you? She’s gonna get ready for bed.”

Jin got up and quietly walked to his room that he shared with Yoongi. He opened up one of the drawers and pulled out a small bag of your things. He handed it to Jungkook and plopped onto his bed, “Do you think I can talk to her?”

Jungkook sighed, “She’s really tired right now so I’m going to stay with her until she falls asleep. Tomorrow would be better, Hyung. Let her be for the night,” he took a seat next to Jin, “But I think you should talk to Namjoon Hyung. There was major miscommunication between you two and you don’t want this to ruin the friendship.”

Jungkook walked back to his room and chuckled at the sight of you in his clothes, “Man you really are tiny because look how baggy all those clothes are!” He handed you your bag of toiletries and you walked into the bathroom. “I’ll be back!” you heard him call from behind you and he made his way to Namjoon’s room.

He knocked twice on the door before walking in. Namjoon was sitting at his desk just playing with a pen in his fingers. He eyes were sad and by the way he took each breath, Jungkook knew he was conflicted.

“Hyung,” Jungkook sat down on Namjoon’s bed, “Are you okay?” Jungkook has never seen Namjoon this depressed before.

“Did I mess up the relationship that those two siblings had?” He didn’t bother looking up from his desk, “Will hyung and I not be the same anymore? Will (y/n) distance herself from me? From both hyung and me? I don’t want to lose her. But I don’t want to lose Hyung either. I care too much for (Y/N) though to just ignore my feelings. I don’t know what to do. If I distance myself from (Y/N), I’d just end up hurting her and I don’t want that.”

“I’m glad you genuinely care for her. But I can’t give you an answer to any question you just asked. The only thing I can tell you is that you should talk to Hyung before you talk to (Y/N). She’s probably asleep now anyways.” Jungkook got up and placed a hand on Namjoon’s shoulder, “I know she would want you two to patch things before you guys work out how to go further with your relationship.”

“Go further,” Namjoon chuckled, “I haven’t even properly asked her to be my girlfriend yet.”

“That can wait, fixing your relationship with Hyung first is priority. (Y/N)’s feelings for you won’t disappear within 24 hours. She likes you too much and cares for you too much that it’ll take moving a mountain to get her to have feelings for someone else.”

Hearing those words come out of Jungkook’s mouth, Namjoon was able to crack a small smile, “Where’s Hyung right now?”

“In his room,” Jungkook walked towards the door and Namjoon got up and followed, “I’ll go check on (Y/N). Now go talk to her male counterpart.”

“Male counterpart...oh my gosh.” Hoseok chuckled as he walked down the hallway hearing that, “It’s scary but true.”

Namjoon made his way down to Jin’s room and knocked twice before going in, “Hyung,” Jin was sitting on his bed, “I think we need to talk.”

Jin didn’t protest so Namjoon took that as a sign to come in. He plopped down next to Jin and sighed, “We need to start from the very beginning. Did I do something wrong?”

Jin closed his eyes and sighed, “No. You actually didn’t. I thought it over time and time again, but you really didn’t do anything wrong.”

Namjoon sighed, “Then what happened?”

“I don’t know…” he was rubbing his temples, “I- I guess I don’t want my sister to grow up. I always want to be the one to protect her you know?”

“Hyung…” Namjoon chuckled, “She’s the same age as Jungkook, 23, not 12 anymore.”

“And look at Jungkook,” Jin let out a small laugh, “Have you seen those two together? They’re a tornado.”

“Okay that probably won’t change,” Namjoon sat up and looked at Jin seriously, “But there are so many people who want to care and protect her besides your family. Look at the way Jungkook protects her and cares for her. All of us members care for her. I want to care for her and love her. Give her everything she deserves. You acted as if you didn’t want me to care for her. You know I can’t do that hyung. My feelings for her are way too strong for that.”

“I know...and I admit, I acted way out of hand. I let my feelings get in the way and I didn’t even bother to think of the way that you two were feeling. In the end, I actually hurt her. My worst nightmare came true,” Jin turned to look at Namjoon, “I’m genuinely sorry Namjoon. I even hurt you too.”

“Hyung it’s okay. I see where you were coming from, if it was my sister, I would’ve been doing the same thing probably,” Namjoon pat Jin’s shoulder, “But I do want the okay from you to date your sister. I want to love and care for her. And if I ever hurt her, just know I won’t be able to forgive myself. Like you, hurting her is the last thing I would want.”

Jin sat in silence for a bit before taking a deep breath, “I’ll allow it. Just y’know...don’t kiss her in front of me...that’s weird.”

“Hyung, I won’t take it fast with her, I’ll go at the pace she wants. I have to ask her properly to be my girlfriend first,” Namjoon smiled at the thought of getting to be with you, “I will take the best care of her Hyung. And I will respect all your wishes and we’ll respect boundaries, especially around you.��

After a deep sigh Jin whacked Namjoon on the arm, “You better take it freaking slow,” he got up and started pulling out pajamas, “Keep my sister pure! I know your mind.”

“Hyung!” Namjoon’s cheeks flushed pink, “I wouldn’t do that to her...well this fast...well I’ll shut up.”

“Gross, please do.”

“Hyung, thank you though,” Namjoon stood up and walked towards the door, “I promise you, I will take care of her.”

“Yeah yeah, what is she doing right now?”

“I think she’s with Jungkook, wanna go see if she’s awake?”

The two boys walked out of the room and towards Jungkooks. Namjoon knocked quietly and peaked his head in after two minutes of no response passed. You and Jungkook were both asleep on the bed. A wall of pillows in between you two to give you guys your own space and boundaries. It’s not the first time you guys shared a bed. People would suspect you two were dating but your heart belonged to someone else.

And you had Namjoon’s heart too.

“You better do that if you think you’re gonna share a bed with my sister,” Jin looked into the room, “I don’t care if you want to hug her, WALL.”

“Sure hyung…” Namjoon laughed and walked towards the kitchen with Jin in tow. Jimin and Taehyung sat at the kitchen table playing games on her phone.

When Jimin saw you guys he jumped up, “Are you guys good?”

“Are we hyung?” Namjoon asked.

“I guess...” Jin pat Namjoon’s shoulder and walked past him to get a glass of water, “We talked it out and set boundaries, but we’ll be fine.”

“Boundaries?” Jimin tilted his head and Hoseok smacked him.

“You must be really thick headed or blind to not see that Namjoon likes (Y/N). Why do you think Jin Hyung got heated? (Y/N) likes him too.”

“Does that mean (Y/N) will be around more?” Taehyung walked into the kitchen to join the conversation.

“Yah, let me ask her to be my girlfriend first then we’ll see the answers to those questions!”

The next morning you woke up to Jungkook next to you watching a video of a cartoon dinosaur.

“Oppa?” you rubbed your eyes and tried sitting up but you had a sharp pain in your head.

Jungkook set his phone down and helped you up, “Slowly. The doctor said to take it easy. How are you feeling? Anything hurt?”

You decided to tease Jungkook to help lift your spirits, “What happened? Why am I in your bed? Why does my head hurt?”

His mouth dropped open, “Do you not remember anything?” his tone was serious, “What’s the last thing you remember?”

“I came into your guys’ practice room, with food for you and my brother. Wait, does my brother know I’m here?” The prank continued on.

“We’re going to the hospital.”

“Oppa I’m kidding,” your eyes softened when you thought about last night, “do I really have a concussion? How’s my brother? How’s Joonie Oppa?”

“I’m not sure, I told Namjoon hyung that he should talk to your brother. After, I came in here and you were asleep so I decided to sleep too. So honestly, I don’t know. I woke up like 10 minutes ago.”

“You don’t have anything to do today?”

“No, we have the day off,” He flashed his cheeky smile at you, “Want me to make you something to eat?”

“Sure Oppa, can I help?”

Jungkook smiled, “Nope. You’re taking it easy so I will be the best best friend ever! I’ll be back!”

Jungkook ran out to the kitchen and saw Jin, Namjoon, Yoongi and Taehyung eating breakfast, “Morning Hyungs,” he started digging through the fridge, “What’s to eat?”

“Jin Hyung made chocolate chip pancakes,” Taehyung currently had three on a plate, “How’s (Y/N)? Is she awake?”

“She’s awake. I came out to get her something to eat,” Jungkook started piling some pancakes on a plate, “Please tell me you two hyungs are good. She woke up still sad. She tried to play a prank but it failed in lifting her spirits.”

“We’re good,” Jin sighed, “But I am so afraid to face my sister. Is she mad at me? Does she even want to see me?”

Jungkook handed Jin the plate of your food, “She’s been asking about you. I think you should talk to her. Bring her breakfast to her. Namjoon Hyung, you should go in later after Jin Hyung.”

They both nodded and Jin took off in the direction of Jungkook’s room. He took a deep breath before knocking on the door, “(Y/N)? I’m coming in okay?” He took no response as a sign that you were allowing it. He walked into the room and saw you sitting up on Jungkook’s bed, just on your phone. “I made your favorite for breakfast. You should eat some.”

“T-thank you Oppa,” you were genuinely happy to see your brother, but at the same time you still had quite a bit of emotions in you from last night, “H-how are you?”

“I’m okay, I promise,” he reached for your hand but he saw you tense up a bit, so he stopped himself mid way, “How are you? Are you okay? How are you feeling?” His voice was getting shaky and his eyes were starting to brim with tears.

“Just a little dizzy. And I’m still tired,” you noticed his reaction, “But I’m still okay. I’ll be fine.”

“That’s good, you should eat some of your food,” his voice was still shaky, “(Y/N)?”

You cut a small piece of the pancake, “Yes Jinnie Oppa?”

He fell onto his knees and held your hand. He didn’t lift his head and he started crying, “I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I really didn’t. I can’t forgive myself for what I did to you. You’re my precious sister. I’m supposed to protect you, not hurt you. You’re actually injured because of my stupidity. My ignorance. It’s all my fault that you’re hurt. Please, can you find it in you to forgive me?”

You didn’t want to stay mad at your brother. You loved him too much to know he didn’t do any of this with ill intentions. You set your plate down and cupped your brother's hand, “Oppa can you sit next to me?”

Without any hesitation, your brother shot up and sat next to you.

“Now can you answer any question I ask completely honest?”

He nodded.

“Why don’t you want me to be with Joonie Oppa?”

Jin sighed, “It’s not that I don’t want you too. In fact, I would much rather have you be with any of the members then any other boy out there. It’s just, I don’t know what got over me. In my eyes, you’re still my little sister who would run around the house in the Princess Outfits that Hyung would buy you for Christmas. I guess I just haven’t accepted the fact that you’ve grown up. I want to protect you, and I always will, but there are other people too and I have to accept that fact.”

You smiled a bit at your brother's answer. He did get really overprotective at times, but nothing was done with ill intentions. You were his youngest and only sister. You would do the same for him if the roles were flopped. “Oppa, you’re always gonna have your own spot in my life. Nobody is gonna take it. You were in my life first obviously. But hearing your answer, does that mean you’re allowing me to be with Joonie Oppa?”

After the most awkward moment of silence ever, “Yes,” Jin sighed, “BUT, there are boundaries. Just don’t act so lovey dovey in front of me. And most certainly don’t make out with each other in front of any of us!”

You blushed furiously at the thought of it, “I-...OPPA THAT STUFF SHOULD STAY PRIVATE ANYWAYS!”

“But can you promise me that you won’t forget me?” Jin’s eyes were sad, “I still want to be your number one.”

You wrapped your arms around your brother, “Oppa, you’re my brother. There’s no way whoever I date, marry, whatever, will take that spot from you.”

He smiled and hugged you back, “If Namjoon hurts you, tell me, I’ll kill him.”

You playfully smacked your brother, “Oppa!...I will.”

“How is your head?” Jin slowly rubbed the back of it as he hugged you, “I still can’t believe I did that to you.”

“I’ll be okay Oppa, I promise.”

Jin hugged you before getting up from the bed, “I think there’s someone else who would like to check on you too.”

“Hobi Oppa?” You playfully teased your head to the side.

“You’re such an idiot sometimes.” He chuckled and walked out of the room just as Namjoon came in.

He closed the door and smiled at you warmly, “Hey (Y/N), how are you?”

“Hi Oppa, I’m okay,” you pat the spot on the bed next to you, “Are you okay?”

Namjoon sat next to you and smiled, “Hey it's you we have to worry about. Are you feeling okay? No symptoms or anything? Why aren’t you eating your food beautiful? Do I have to feed you?”

You blushed furiously when he called you beautiful, “Oppa I’m okay. Just a little lightheaded. And u-um...I can do it myself,” you started cutting the pancake, “See? All okay!”

After Namjoon made sure you ate your breakfast, he took the plate from you, placed it on the nightstand, then grabbed your hand. He stroked your knuckles and looked you in the eyes, “I’m really sorry about upsetting your brother.”

“Oppa, you don’t have to be sorry, you didn’t do anything wrong.”

“I didn’t respect your brother's boundaries. I like you so much, but I didn’t come to think how that would make Jin Hyung feel,” he sighed, “I’m sorry I came between you and your brother like that.”

“Oppa, I’m sorry I came between the two of you, you’re like his little brother he never had. He doesn’t want to lose you.” You smiled knowing that your brother was surrounded by such great people who genuinely cared for him.

“(Y/N)? Can I hug you right now?”

You giggled at his cuteness and nodded, “Of course, get over here you goof,” You wrapped your arms around Namjoon and he pulled you close, “I assume you know how I feel about you right?”

“Yes,” you felt him lay his head on your shoulder, “When I found out, I wanted to have you in my arms right away...now I actually can. Your brother allowed it, you know?”

“I know,” you looked up at him, “But I won’t until you ask me?”

“Ask you what?” He said dumbfoundedly.

You pouted in response.

“I’m kidding,” he cupped your cheek with his warm hand, “I want to be able to care for you in a position more than a friend. Will you be my girlfriend?”

You smiled and nodded, “Of course Joonie Oppa.”

An Upstead timeline

Because I was thinking about how far Jay Halstead & Hailey Upton have come, and I just wanted to be nostalgic for a moment. Enjoy my ramblings! (:

The beginnings: season 4

Ah, yes. Hailey’s debut. I loved 4x21 “Fagin” for that reason. Also, Jay’s first impression of her seemed to be like “dang this girl is sassy...but I’m not complaining” haha.

Also we can’t forget the sass Hailey displayed in the survelliance van. 😂 Legendary. And Jay kept up w/it too. We love a sarcastic duo - even before they were partnered up!

Anyway, the next episode was when Hailey officially joined Intelligence. A moment of awkward silence for the two of them trying to shuffle around each other when Voight gave Hailey Jay’s desk because she was now partners w/Erin. Oops. Too funny.

Then of course, the season 4 finale saw Hailey be invited out to Molly’s with Jay, Adam, Kevin, & Will. She had the memorable “I’m Greek, we see tragedy in everything” line, along with that first of many looks she’d give to Jay after a conversation - longing & wistful. 😔

The new divide: season 5

Season 5 saw Hailey and Jay become partners & already they were there for each other when Jay had a tough case. While we didn’t see it air in the actual episode, there was a deleted scene from 5x01 that showed Hailey telling Jay that she’s “got his back.”

As the season progressed, we saw them continue to be there for each other as a source of support. Remember in “Fallen” when Jay kept checking up on Hailey’s “relationship” with fellow officer Sean McGrady?

“Is this really about the case?”

“See ya tomorrow.”

“Ooookay.” — yeah okay Jay we see u.

The next few episodes were Jay’s big arc in s5 where he dealt with being undercover while dealing with PTSD. Hailey was “neutral” at first, because she didn’t know Jay well enough to know how this would affect him, though she’d see it soon enough when he pointed a gun in her face at the end of 5x07. Even after that incident, she still called him to check on him. Now that’s a quality partner.

Another telling moment for their partnership was when Hailey went to bat for Jay with Camila. She knew if she talked he’d be in big trouble, so she had to do something to help him. She still made sure to remind Camila that she would ��bury her” if she didn’t keep her mouth shut about Jay. Damn, remind me not to get on Hailey’s bad side. 😯

She even convinced Jay to go to therapy — how amazing is that? She helped him get help.

There were a few lighter, fluffier moments for their partnership as the season progressed, which you can see below —

And then came my favorite episode for them - Ghosts.

Hailey got tangled up with Booth who got her old partner killed. Jay, being her new partner, was concerned about how close Hailey was getting...not only to the case, but to Booth, as Booth was bordering on obsessed w/her.

He bailed her out, but then then two argued at Hailey’s UC apartment (hello, married couple moment haha) - But despite that, he still helped her go on w/the undercover plan.

Cue Jay going under as Ryan, a dealer that Hailey (as Kelly) knew. Things got even more awkward for the trio when Booth asked “Ryan” how many times he screwed “Kelly.” Yikesarama.

Towards the end of the episode, Booth got handsy with Hailey, which put Jay in an awkward position. He tried to keep his cool, but then the deal was blown. Hailey being the badass that she is fought off Booth, but it was Jay who brought her back down to reality to keep her from doing something stupid (even though let’s be honest, Booth deserved a few more kicks in the head).

The kicker of the episode came when Jay went to check on Hailey, and the two would start what would turn out to be “their thing” aka - drinks and long conversations about their cases & the feelings surrounding them. Hailey opened up about Booth and Garrett, and Jay listened. He was there for her, and that’s when they really started to form something special. Something that was more than just a typical partnership.

The rest of the season would only build on that momentum, bringing out little pieces of Jay and Hailey’s pasts, as well as how they dealt with things amongst the team. Jay lent Hailey a supportive hand (literally) when Al died in the season 5 finale, & in a deleted scene, the two offered comfort to each other at the vigil Intelligence held.

Care & being there: season 6

Jay and Hailey’s partnership grew even more so during s6. Their first major moments came in the crossover episode, when Jay was shot. Hailey was distraught, but it was more than that. She thought he was dead, & she thought she’d lost him forever. Her emotions were running high and she pushed down all those feelings that had come bubbling up to the surface. But they were there.

(Unfortunately she compensated by sleeping with Ruzek, thus beginning Upzek. Ugh. Anyway).

Even though she started a fling-turned-semi-relationship with Adam, Hailey & Jay still leaned on each other.

When Hailey dealt with a tough case, Jay was there for her. He made sure she was okay. Heck, even Adam noticed & told her, they should talk you know, “partner to partner.”

The following episode saw Hailey help Jay when his judgement was colored by his war past. She then reminded him of the famous “thing that works between them” and offered to buy him a beer to chat. He accepted.

When Jay found out about said romance, he was taken aback and you could tell by the look on his face that he was hurt...but honestly, maybe a little jealous. I think this solidified his feelings for Hailey, even if she didn’t wanna admit her own to herself yet.

“We’re good. And we’re always gonna be good.” -Jay to Hailey

6x12 has them do another heart to heart conversation, only for it to be interrupted by Ruzek, who called Hailey. Jay told her she should go, and even though she said okay, you could tell she didn’t really mean it. Just like Jay didn’t really want her to go. But these two have gotten good at hiding their feelings by now.

*forgot to add 6x14 when Hailey was kidnapped (along w/Kim). You could see the look of complete distress on Jay’s face when he & Kevin raced out to the truck, just missing it. Then when Adam told him they “should’ve been all over them” Jay went on the defensive, telling Adam “he didn’t know what went down” because he wasn’t there. Ruzek, Ruzek, Ruzek...as if Halstead wasn’t beating himself up enough! Even though later in the ep, Adam and Antonio were the ones to find Hailey & Kim, you saw Jay later ask if she was okay; and you saw the camera pan to both of their expressions when Voight gave the “work things at work” talk. Jay felt bad knowing he didn’t do his job at protecting his partner; Hailey was starting to debate her relationship with Ruzek on the job.*

6x15 offered us the iconic scene of “if I was gonna follow someone blind, I’d follow you” which we now know is essentially Hailey-speak for “I love you.” Because she told Jay that she’s trusted him from the day she met him. How freaking adorable is that?

Fast forward to the s6 finale & you’ve got a whole lot more feels between these two. From Jay’s line of “I’m going where you go” meaning he to would follow Hailey; to his protecting her FIRST without regard for his own life (actually literally using himself as a human shield!); and then of course, their heartbreaking conversation in the break room.

“We’ve only been partners a couple years...you’ll forget about me just fine.”

“Hailey... [no].”

aka - Hailey was scared of losing him again & not knowing if they’d be partners again, so she bit down on her feelings and brushed it off. Jay did the same, although he looked as if he was going to spill any second of that scene. You know what I mean.

You could see the looks in their eyes — they were saying everything without actually saying a word.

This episode was when the both of them seemed to accept their feelings of each other to themselves — as in, they admitted it to themselves, even if they weren’t ready to share them with each other. 💙

Deeper feelings: season 7

And now we’re onto s7, where even in the premiere, you could see how in sync Jay and Hailey were. The two worked together to help their boss, and they relied on each other more than ever to get the job done. Hailey supported Jay, even if she didn’t always agree with him.

Later on in the season, we saw him do the same thing. Although, when Voight split them up in 7x03, they weren’t happy about it. Jay showed his emotions with a look, while Hailey vocalized hers to Voight. Hailey = 😠 there.

In the crossover, we saw a concerned Jay over Hailey being quarantined, but also a concerned Hailey when Jay was taken hostage by Seldon. She even went all Sniper to save him! Go Hailey go!

They continued to work alongside each other, mainly in surveillance (apparently those two have a thing for vans 😉) to help the unit solve cases.

Jay had another tough case in 7x06, and Hailey noticed how much it affected him, even if she didn’t say it right away. Jay would do the same for her in the next episode when her CI was shot, with looks and a concerned voice like she had done with him.

And now we’re at 7x09, aka the fall finale from hell because Jay’s life is in the balance.

And Hailey Upton is livid over it. She was so desperate to get Jay back safely that she pushed the limits to find him. And just when she FINALLY did, he was ripped away from her yet again. Heartbreakingly tragic for these two...almost like a Romeo & Juliet vibe. 💔

Here’s hoping Jay will be okay in 7x10 when Chicago PD comes back in January, because Hailey really can’t lose the man she loves. I think this made her realize just how much she cares. And he cares so much for her.

Upstead ship captain Jesse Lee Soffer said it best: if you were to ask Jay or Hailey, “do you love him/her?” They’d say yes. As for what kind of love that is, they aren’t 100% sure yet...

because they haven’t even admitted their feelings to each other yet. But anyone can see that they are there. Pure and genuine feelings. Love. Respect. Admiration. 🖤

I’m autistic and one of the things I have trouble with is change. I’ve watched 911 since the third episode and now they have a second one? Idk. I’ve been seeing a lot of good things about it but I’m not sure if I want to watch it. Basically what I want to know is if it’s worth watching. Is it good? Are there any parallels between the new one and the Buck one? Who are the characters and what are they like? Will you start writing for this series instead of the other one? %

so, this got WAY longer than i thought it would, sorry!!! TL;DR is at the very very end!

tbh i didn’t wanna really give 911 lonestar a chance originally, i was lowkey annoyed bc it felt like they were like “oh u guys want buck and eddie, who are CLEARLY meant to be and have all this canon chemistry and relationship development to eventually get together??? lol NOPE but here’s a spinoff where u get ur white/latino gay ship :D”

which i do genuinely hope to god isn’t the case, like, i really need OG 911 to be like PSYCH here u go, some DIAZ-BUCKLEY fam. as a treat.

i did end up watching it bc curiosity and too many awesome gifsets finally got to me lol

and im only a couple of episodes in (haven’t had a chance to watch the 3rd ep bc of work and other things D: ) and so far i gotta say, i like the OG 911 calls that they get sent to more than 911 lonestars calls but again, im only 2 ep in, maybe they get more “woah thats crazy/hilarious/hearbreaking!” as the show goes on.

i honestly don’t see too many parallels between Buck and TK—the only thing i noticed where they’re pretty similar is how much they both enjoy easy physical contact. buck is very touchy feely and comfortable about showing affection/feelings and i feel like TK is the same regarding physical contact (with his dad at least)? but that’s about it.

for what it’s worth i do think the show is pretty entertaining and worth a watch!

my main reason for watching past the first episode is my enjoyment of the characters. i just think they’re all neat.

here’s a more descriptive/longer summary of the characters if u wanna know more, if not skip down to the bolded sentence below lol:

owen strand is the captain (played by rob lowe) and to me he gives off chris traeger vibes (from parks and rec if u watched?) but with more depth. i like his character a lot, he’s a caring dad, seems like he knows what he’s doing, and like, c’mon, it’s rob lowe (i fell in love with him a million years ago when he played soda pop in the outsiders nipr;guebwuogrnofw)

tk is his son and a hot gay mess w some substance abuse issues (tho a lot has happened to him in only 2 ep i really don’t know how to feel about him entirely, bc besides stuff happening TO him, i don’t feel like he’s reacted in a way that shows much of his character?) idk maybe it’s just me. but he is a certified cutie so. lol

grace ryder, she’s smart (one of the only characters with more than ONE brain cell lmao) and gorgeous and an emergency 911 operator. she’s very supportive of her husband and what he’s going thru (which is A LOT), she herself has been thru a lot bc of the big incident at the beginning of the series and is still somehow held strong in spite of it all, she’s a personal fave of mine.

judd ryder is kind of a dick at first but i think its very understandable given the hell he’s been thru, im actually surprised at the amount that i like him. he’s very raw and vulnerable but has this “don’t worry im fine, back up” attitude that i loooove.

captain blake is the captain for EMTs, she’s got this soft teeny baby voice that contradicts so hard with her give no fucks ima do what i need to to find my missing sister actions irwughqwgoriegjf i like. she’s caring and does goes out of her way for the little guy.

marjan has ZERO chill but in a good way, i can already absolutely see her getting into trouble by doing some crazy impulsive thing on a call in order to rescue someone—-TBH she actually reminds me a lot of Buck from OG 911 in that way. like yea she’s reckless and impulsive but u can tell its bc she CARES and this firefighting thing is what she’s meant to do. i really like her.

mateo—-OH MAN. he’s 10000000% my favorite. it hurts me everytime he’s on screen, bc he’s such a sweet and HARD WORKING man and he deserves to be a firefighter and do what he wants/has been waiting for for so long, im so HAPPY captain strand gives him a chance. i think he might have some learning disability or maybe he grew up in a household where maybe his family was too busy or didn’t care to check up on how he was doing in school and they neglected to see how much he was struggling—this is all just pure speculation from the fact that on the show he tells captain strand during the interview that he’s always passed the physical exam to be a firefighter but keeps failing the written part :( i love my son.

paul is a trans firefighter who’s mainly known for his crazy good observational skills in the field—there’s an ep—ep 2?—that shows off his talent but like, i found it unintentional funny bc the way they did it was in a scene that honestly truly felt to me like a scene I MYSELF would write in a fanfiction if i wanted to show off a cool skill the character has but was also too lazy to make it look good???? lmaoooo im not trying to be mean but like, if u do watch it, its the 2nd ep i believe, the “office meeting” scene. other than that tho there’s only been a few scenes with paul in it (my personal fave being the skin care routine scene lol) but i look forward to more scenes of my son being a lil sherlock holmes :)

officer reyes is tk’s potential new mans. he seems like a good cop from what little ive seen of him doing police work. so, i saw a post someone made basically saying how ugly are the men in texas that officer reyes is out here thirsting over tk so HARD—and not to be rude, but he really is!!!! reyes is a goodlookin guy, so idk what’s up with that, maybe he likes messy bois? bc same.

p.s. im not sure how to feel about reyes and tk together yet bc it doesn’t really seem as if they have too much chemistry. hopefully that changes? i do kinda like that they haven’t started off their potential relationship on the best of foots, bc i love drama, an indisputable fact.

ONTO THE FINAL QUESTION!

OG 911 will always be my first love and i just don’t see this changing anytime soon. buddie will always be the #1 ship in my heart! and i have about a gazillion awesome prompts i need to work on so me switching over to 911 lonestar isn’t gonna happen. i love OG 911 way too much iuqhur4ogfoie3jwnwjinioj

tho i may occasionally—per the request of prompts i’ve gotten in the last week or so–take a couple of the characters from 911 lonestar and put them in a 911 fic as a crossover? we’ll see.

Now that i've watched the first two episodes of season 5 of Shokugeki no Soma, i'd like to know your thoughts, what did you like? what did you dislike the most? What do you hope the anime will improve? i personally felt like it was a bit too rushed but i did like that anime only scene with Soma and Erina at the baloony where they talked about his mother, it was nice ^-^

So my thoughts on Season 5? Well 1/10, there’s not nearly enough OTP-content for me

Okay no, I’m kidding! (although…I do miss my OTP-content but enough of that really, no one cares) My feelings for Season 5 are very, very mixed.

The fact that it dived right into Beach Arc although there’s content in-between the RDC finale and Beach Arc greatly confused me. My prediction is that the anime team did it in order to come back with a bang so to speak: Beach Arc has all of the 92nd Generation, shows it’s Elite 10 members in action and well, it’s genuinely a fun arc in the manga too, generally seen as “the last good thing” before the BLUE-fiasco starts. Out of everything that comes Post-RDC this arc carries most of Shokugeki’s original spirit (Safe for Les Dessert 1 maybe. Les Dessert 1 is valid in this house, don’t @ me)

I suppose the Anime just considered that more exciting to start with and rally people up for the new season than just solely Megumi and Soma getting to meet (the character that no one likes) Asahi 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think that was the same case with “Ni no Sara” (2nd Season) as well, which immediately started with Soma’s and Alice’s match instead of showcasing Megumi’s and Soma’s visit to a daycare, which upset a few people back then…as said visit was skipped entirely. But I suppose that was also just too slow as a start of a new season for the anime team which is why they dived right into the exciting fight 😅 It’s kinda sad though how it’s always Megumi who suffers from scenes being cut in favor for thrill. I am legit sad over the Hot Spring Arc being reduced to a quick Slideshow during the credits of Season 4….It was a legit epic moment of Megumi and she deserved to have it animated. Also, bias…but while they only kicked in the last part of Hot Spring Arc, it was also legit a nice entrance of the former 2nd years and Takumi and Isami back then, which I’d have liked to see animated 😪

First Episode was more or less fine and fun being real, even though I was still a bit >:T about Hot Spring Arc being cut entirely.

Then there’s….episode 2….

So the preview for Episode 2 had been posted in advance on twitter and I read it and I actually got more or less excited. The BLUE Premlins got mentioned in the preview already and I went: “Wait? You’re telling me that the anime is really dedicating an episode to anime-original content?” I was…floored.

You know the anime always added it’s original bits ever since Season 1 and especially in Season 4 they took quite some liberties here and there. But ultimately they mostly just added little things and didn’t really begin to actively tinker with the story I’d say. An entire episode seemingly dedicated to anime-original-content was on a whole level and I was instantly in love with the idea.

You know a common question asked back when BLUE began was why exactly Soma, Megumi and Takumi were chosen to go to BLUE and there was just…never really much explanation given for it in the manga. The anime tried to offer an explanation by having them earn their participation and they tried to do it in a fun way that very much mirrors the Autumn Election Premlins.

But well…Let’s just say….

It mirrored the Autumn Election Premlins VERY STRONGLY

The episode ultimately, for the most part, became a Recycle Festival of Reused Shots. Almost every frame had been taken from some earlier episode. Some had their hairstyles updated to the Timeskip-Look versions but like…characters with no Timeskip-Look like Marui, Isshiki or Kuga made the Recycling specifically obvious to me (Marui showing off his dish was basically just a much shorter version of him doing so in the AE Premlins and //lies down// my son deserves better than this). And you know….

I really liked the idea of the BLUE Premlins and I got what the anime wanted to do: Give the Side Characters some justice and action before they’ll all disappear into the Abyss in favor for Erina’s family drama 2.0 and Asahi’s annoying face. And they combined it with an explanation on why Megumi and Takumi got chosen for BLUE….That’s…noble and sweet intention. The anime has always shown it’s side characters more love than the manga ever did and…ah, I do like what they were attempting to do however-

As much as I tried to focus on the story behind it and how much I wanted to ignore the animation….The fact that I’ve seen nearly every image on screen before became jarring and boring REAL QUICK.

I think that’s a shame. They could have made it so much more fun and enjoyable but….the visuals made it just SO hard for me, because there was just barely anything new to them ; 7 ;

Since I saw the preview, Episode 2 had something that I didn’t expect anything in this season to have: expectation. And it was just kinda a let-down being real ;w;

What I liked most so far though is, very briefly: Every Scene with Yuki so far, Yua and Urara being given Spotlight, Eizan’s and Nene’s Timeskip-Looks existing [I love them] and also their scenes…specifically Eizan’s because he’s just funny to me, Quality Shun and Zenji Bonding Time in Episode 1, Megumi actually winning the BLUE Premlin-Things (it’s what she deserves after Hot Spring had been cut) and uh, most of the jokes but Shokugeki’s comedy was always rather strong for me.

But well, from what I can tell….We’ll now be getting into BLUE and yeah 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t care about BLUE. It’s an arc with nothing really redeemable about it to me and that I mainly associate with the destruction of a manga series I hold very, very dear.

I don’t think I’ll even watch most of the BLUE-related episodes…I just care too little for that.

But I’ll definitely stick around for the animated version of Les Dessert…

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker - Initial Thoughts

So yeah, this is a thing. Of course I’m gonna discuss spoilers in-depth, but I’ll put that under the cut. If you want a spoiler free summary, here:

It's not perfect, and I particularly struggled with the first act and it's really fast pacing (JJ LEARN TO SLOW DOWN), but I'm not gonna pretend I didn't enjoy it overall. As long as you're not attached to certain specific ideas and willing to accept it for what it is, you might like it well enough. That being said, I can already see this is gonna be at least as divisive as TLJ unfortunately.

Okay, first thing’s out of the way: I was aware of the leaks about the film, and I can confirm that they were pretty spot on overall. It sucks 99% of the plot got out, there’s a few moments that thankfully didn’t get mentioned in any leaks I saw, so yeah. Anyway, time to get started.

Okay, yeah, the pacing. Definitely my biggest issue with the film. It’s an issue I have with The Force Awakens’ first act too, but there it at least was able to do enough to establish the characters. Here the story moves along relentlessly. Honestly, for the first act, in fact right until Rey and Kylo Ren’s Kijimi confrontation, I struggled to keep up. So much happened, so much exposition and action I felt like nothing really got to land. There wasn’t any time to breathe or let the characters have more moments. I’m not sure if the Rey/Kylo fight on Kijimi was just a major emotional turning point that finally had me properly hooked, but from there either I finally got into the film’s groove or it actually learned to slow down a bit, at least enough for things to actually land instead of BAM NEW SCENE BAM NEW SCENE.

My other biggest issue with the film is something that unfortunately couldn’t be helped: the handling of Leia. It’s VERY clear they were writing around the cut scenes from The Force Awakens, and how vague and generic her lines were REALLY showed. Because of this, her death scene didn’t really work for me? In fact, I’m not even sure why she chose to reach out to Kylo Ren at that specific point, either it was Force shenanigans feeling it was the right time SOMEHOW knowing he was at a vulnerable point or I really missed something (see this is why you don’t pace things at the speed of light, JJ :V). THAT BEING SAID... I can’t really fault the filmmakers for this, because this is obviously the best they could’ve done without a controversial recasting (especially if they used CGI to make the new actress look like Carrie Fisher). It’s clear this was a really hard job, and I can tell they did the best with what they had.

I mentioned the first act was too fast paced, but I actually really dug the opening with Kylo Ren. Palpatine obviously sensed the First Order had subjugated the galaxy, so it was time for him to come out and reassert control with his secret Sith Fleet, hence the message in the crawl. But yeah, Kylo Ren finding the wayfinder and traveling to Exegol only to discover Palpatine was an excellent sequence that really got things getting exciting.

For specific things here: first, Exegol is an awesome planet. It’s perfectly creepy and the best place for the final showdown to take place. The sound design for the place was particularly great. Visually, it’s all epic. I’m also curious about its history - C-3PO says it’s apparently a Sith Homeworld, though I wonder if this is more like an origin point given Moraband was also a Sith Homeworld. Oh look, I’m being a nerd, lol.

I love how Snoke was handled purely because it’s so hilariously anticlimatic and I can see so many people getting mad at it. Like seriously... Palpatine so casually going “I made Snoke” says SO much. Everyone was making up elaborate theories on who he was and why he’s a thing but in reality, he’s just some dude created in a lab for Palpatine to puppet while he’s gone. :P One has to wonder how Snoke felt about the whole thing, literally being made just to be an interim ruler for former Imperials before Palpatine was ready to return, while also being a powerful Dark Side user himself (wow geez, Palpatine can make super Dark Side users now).

Palpatine himself was definitely one of the best parts of the movie, Ian McDiarmid’s performance alone was worth it. I definitely get why JJ chose to bring him back, I agree it feels appropriate for the main Star Wars villain to have a presence in the new trilogy in some way. For how he comes back, it’s curious. The way he speaks and looks, he’s pretty much dead, Palpatine literally says he died in fact. As for how he’s back, he just says his infamous “the Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities, some to be considered unnatural.” Look, it’s SO on the nose and cheesy, but because I’m a nerd I loved hearing that line again. From how I understand it, he’s basically a weird Dark Side zombie, I mean he has a downright undead appearance. It’s not actually explained how he survived, but I kinda don’t mind that it’s currently mysterious? I have some theories based on EU stuff I might go into later but basically, he’s now Zombietine and he’s somehow ended up on Exegol with his weird Sith cult devotees making Snokes and building the Sith Fleet while influencing what he can from afar. Speaking of which... his “I’m every voice you have ever known” line pretty much confirms it was HIM who was talking to him through Darth Vader’s helmet, not a remnant of Vader himself. Him using Snoke’s voice in that line even makes me wonder how much free will Snoke has, and whether him being a puppet is more literal than we think.

Leia like I said I felt despite doing the best they could it didn’t fully work, but I can see how Leia would’ve tried being a Jedi but decided not to follow through with it. I mean, ghost Luke couldn’t always show up, so Rey would need advice from the closest thing to a remaining Jedi.

Pasana was hectic. Given a lot of the first act was there, that and the Resistance scenes on Ajan Kloss were most of what really rushed. Like, you have potential great moments, but the fast pace means the story needs to move on so nothing can land. There’s attempts at character moments but they don’t have time to breathe. Like, even Lando returning just whisked by because of the pacing.

Lando was good I guess. Not much stuff for him, but what we had was cool I guess. It sounds like he was hunting for a wayfinder with Luke, though I guess one wonder why Luke was looking for Exegol? Was this after he confronted Snoke (see the new Kylo Ren comic, that confirms that was a thing that happened, oh look more nerdy shit only I care about) and was looking for answers on what Snoke was up to, did he just want to make sure the Dark Side wasn’t fucking things up, or was he feeling like something was off? Anyway, Lando: obviously he’s a minor character, but him bringing all the ships at the end was cool.

Much of the stuff on Kijimi was pretty fast up until the lighsabre duel of course, so there was issues there too. Zorri’s introduction sped by so it never really landed, she goes from “maybe I’ll turn you over” to “fine I’ll help” VERY fast. Same with C-3PO’s memory wipe scene - the story does finally start to steady a bit and it did have me feeling things, but it still goes by too fast for it to fully land. Poe and Zorri’s one on one was a bit better, though again Zorri changing her heart so fast doesn’t really work for me.

Thinking about it, I did like Poe’s arc in the movie well enough. It could’ve been smoothed out but I did like how even he was struggling with the forces they were up against, and learned to have hope even in this dire situation. That’s why I like the chat with Zorri - even if her character feels rushed, it did establish Poe’s central arc and we see how that plays out.

Finn I feel like doesn’t have much of an arc here? Like, I know his storyline in The Last Jedi was divisive, but at least he did have a major arc there and had major growth. Here, I guess his arc is concluded, but then he’s just kinda along with the crew? I really liked the scene where he met Jannah and discovered more First Order deserters, but unfortunately that didn’t really end up going anywhere. Finn and Jannah are a cool duo, but in the climactic battle they kinda felt like an afterthought? I mean, even Poe and the ship stuff kinda did, but at least I kinda got what was going on there. With Finn and Jannah it’s just “we’re on Pryde’s Star Destroyer, destroy some shit” and... that’s it? Probably the most interesting thing with Finn in the movie was how open he was to the Force. Like obviously he couldn’t sense it, but he definitely believes in and trusts it, and it makes sense how that helps a lot of decisions he makes, especially after befriending Rey.

Jannah was cool but like I said she doesn’t really get much to do. I think what people will mainly focus on is that final scene with Lando, which was TOTALLY not suggesting Lando’s her dad. It’s a shame, because the First Order deserter stuff could’ve lead to some cool stuff, but I can see the film probably couldn’t fit it in with how much it’s trying to do.

Rose was an afterthought. I didn’t expect her to be in it much so I prepped myself for that, but I was at least happy to see she was still around. :) I wonder about how Finn looked at her at the end though, was that supposed to suggest romantic feelings? Kinda funny given they drop the Finn wanting to tell Rey something plotline, which I suspect was meant to imply romantic feelings?

On the topic of romance, Poe and Zorri, meh. And to literally nobody’s surprise, the queer couple we see is two Resistance women having a kiss at the end. At least one is a character that kinda exists, even if I don’t even know her name and just know she’s important enough to be sooorta recognisable given she was in The Last Jedi? It’s pretty anticlimactic, but nobody was expecting the representation to be significant anyway. :P Still better than Endgame from the sounds of it though.

Okay, I wanna discuss Hux. His role is small, but he’s as pathetic as ever and it’s glorious. So one plot point is that there’s a spy feeding intel to the Resistance, and then when Finn, Poe and Chewbacca are captured on the Star Destroyer above Kijimi we discover... Hux is the spy. He didn’t even have a change of heart and turned good, he simply just hates Kylo Ren. :P Like damn, helping the enemy purely out of spite, that’s something alright. And as soon as the heroes escape, Pryde just knows instantly he’s the spy and shoots him without a second thought. Yep, that’s how Hux goes out. Pryde is just there to be the evil military leader of course, and he works in that part.

Rey definitely was a major force in carrying the film, like of course she is given she’s the central protagonist but her story just holds up the best for me. Probably one of my favourite things about it was that we finally got to properly explore the Dark Side in her, and of course that becomes a big part of her story here. It’s something we’ve seen in the past two films, but here it actually becomes a focus.

Okay, let’s talk about Rey’s family. Specifically, how she’s Palpatine’s granddaughter. I’m sure some people who are VERY attached to the “nobody” thing in The Last Jedi will dislike this no matter what, but I still think it works? I will however say that it’s VERY cheeky how they go “oh your PARENTS are nobodies, but your GRANDFATHER IS A BIG DEAL AND YOUR DAD JUST CHOSE TO FUCK OFF”. Weird cheekiness aside, I guess I don’t mind the reveal because for one, Star Wars is a family saga, so I see how this works into things, plus it helps justify Palpatine’s return? But perhaps more importantly, I think the film still honours the ideas from The Last Jedi in a way - yes, Rey may have found she has a major lineage after all, but said lineage comes from the most evil man in the Universe. However, her ancestry doesn’t define her, her family isn’t important, who SHE chooses to be is. Luke outright says blood isn’t everything. Luke and Leia figured out she was somehow a Palpatine descendant, but accepted her anyway because they saw her potential for good. I will say I hoped the nobody thing stuck to being literally myself, but this is a nice compromise that I can work with and has a nice message to it. Also, I should emphasise this: just because this changes how we might see The Last Jedi, it doesn’t mean that what the film explores and says is meaningless. In fact, I think the film goes out of its way to make sure it still matters even if JJ obviously had his own ideas on where to take the story. Whether she’s nobody or connected to someone significant, Rey’s destiny is her own to forge and its still about her, not who she’s connected to.

There’s also this Ochi dude who was around doing work for Palpatine while he was around, and he killed Rey’s parents. Kylo initially assumed he wanted to kill Rey, but in reality Ochi was meant to bring Rey to Palpatine early.

Luke’s appearances were cool. I’m sure some people who love TLJ and dislike this film might cynically take his “a Jedi’s weapon deserves more respect line” as a diss against TLJ, but you have to remember: TLJ was literally about Luke finding hope and something to believe in again. Of course he’d get over his cynicism, everything he said about the Jedi was right, but TLJ’s point is that instead of just burying everything wrong with the past, we learn from its failures and take what’s still good to form something better. That’s what Rey’s meant to do with the Jedi. And I mean, the reason him catching the lightsabre Rey throws works at all is because of the surprising moment where he tosses it away in TLJ.

So, Kylo Ren. I enjoyed his storyline. Like, even when he discovers Palpatine and is made to serve him, he’s already secretly hoping to get Rey on his side for them to take him out and rule together (presumably as the new Sith Lords?). He’s pretty brutal and evil in a lot of the film. Also... I LOVE how they expanded on the Force connections. I love me some freaky World Between Worlds style space bending shit. Like, they even fight even though they’re on different locations. As for the mask, I’m sure someone has a better read on it but I think with Palpatine back and being made to be subservient to another master, he puts it together to seem more intimidating again even though the cracks show the facade (the cracks are based on Kintsugi, a Japanese art or craft where repaired things have the lines of where they were broken visible to emphasise how things have changed since they were broken... someone can explain it better but yeah). With the Force Dyad, I have to wonder: is it something Snoke specifically created when he bridged their minds and left that connection to fester (as we see it still is there after all given what happens here), or was it something the Force always had with them?

So, the big scene on the Endor moon with Kylo Ren (I assume Kef Bir if it’s really called that is a different moon to the forest one from Return of the Jedi). Rey’s already struggling with the darkness after the vision of her dark self, but she goes pretty dark during her fight. She strikes Kylo down in a moment he doesn’t fight back, and said moment was him sensing Leia’s passing. Like I said, I don’t feel like her death was handled that well, though it could just be circumstance with Carrie Fisher’s passing. It’s oddly meta as well - she seemed to know reaching out to her son would kill her but did it because she believed it would save him. So she kinda fridged... herself???? It’s weird, I’m not sure how to feel about it. Is it really worth dying just for your son who’s running what will become a new Empire? And if she was dying already, they didn’t establish it at all. It just happens out of nowhere. And I mean, at least it works, Kylo Ren still has some heart left and feels sad about his mum, and then we get... Han Solo. They do say it’s a memory, but I wonder if this was Force induced. Even if the Leia stuff doesn’t work for me, I still liked the scene with imaginary Han. It’s very on the nose with its parallels to TFA, but it still works I think. Also let’s be real... Kylo Ren deciding to stop being a space fascist just because his mum died, that’s not exactly the kind of person I would still feel safe around lol.

If Kylo Ren has an actual redemptive moment, it comes later. Honestly, him showing up in the final battle to help Rey against Palpatine was pretty cool. Like I said, he’s only really doing this because mum dying made him sad, but hey at least he’s fighting the bad guys, right? Yeah, I’m sure you can tell I’m not the biggest Kylo Ren fan. I just feel like his internal conflict isn’t that compelling compared to what Anakin went through, who is much easier to empathise with, not to mention Kylo Ren is honestly pure redemption bait compared to Vader, who didn’t even have plans on redemption until he was made Luke’s father, lol. But rambling aside, his stuff in the climax was awesome. Rey giving now Ben Solo the Skywalker lightsabre through their Force connection was one of the coolest moments of the movie, and bam he just wrecks the Knights of Ren the moment he gets a new sabre (after throwing his own one away).

Palpatine in the climax is curious, because I’m not actually sure what his ultimate goal was: was it to be killed off for good by Rey, or did he always count on Ben/Kylo to show up to get the Force Dyad in place to drain their life force to rejuvenate himself? I mean, he seemed to find Leia’s sacrifice incredibly unexpected in how it made Kylo turn away from the Dark Side, so it seems like he was ready to be killed, though TBH it actually sounds like he very well could’ve possessed her. I actually want to know what this whole Sith thing is about. He says that all the Sith that have ever lived live on through him, which I guess is something that started with the Rule of Two given it follows that philosophy. The apprentice kills their master, but their master and all subsequent masters have what’s left of them transferred into them. It’s an eerie way Darth Bane can still be around for the day the Sith rule the galaxy. Still, I have to wonder how it works. For someone like Rey who wasn’t an actual Sith, it sounds like all the Sith souls would’ve corrupted her, or Palpatine would outright possess her. I know most people don’t care about this nerdy stuff, but I do so lol. This whole Sith souls thing is intriguing and I look forward to EU stuff exploring it more. I want to know if it’s like Rey and her reaching out for the Jedi souls, or the Sith literally all pile up into this monstrosity and the master becomes a single entity.

Anyway yeah, Palpatine drains Rey and Ben to rejuvenate himself so he can live again. This is the exact kind of creepy Dark Side stuff I’m here for. Ben tries to stop him, but he’s thrown down a chasm. Sheev immobilises the entire Resistance fleet, but Rey is able to draw in his attention, and when she uses both the Skywalker and Leia’s lightsabres she calls on the souls of past Jedi to give her the power to defeat Palpatine (something foreshadowed at the start where she tries to reach voices of past Jedi). So there’s lots of juicy cameos for sharp eared listeners. First, we hear Obi-Wan saying a homage to his TFA line, but with final instead of first steps. We hear LOTS of Jedi, but I was just happy we heard Anakin. I would’ve liked him to have a bigger appearance, sure, but I’m happy he existed at all. He says something like “bring balance again, just as I did”, which is pretty cool, and further cements Anakin as The Chosen One. It’s just Sheev refusing to stay truly dead caused another fuckup that Rey needed to solve. This arguably could change how one reads the Chosen One prophecy, but it still works with it being Anakin. Rey is stopping the Sith from being revived because as I said, Palpatine is basically a zombie and arguably not even really alive. I’m sure one could argue it’s changed, and Yoda DID say the prophecy could’ve been misread, but I’m sure it might feed interesting discussions... I just hope they’re not shitty toxic ones like we always get. For me, the coolest moment was when it concluded with QUI-GON JINN. You know, the Jedi who started it all. Look, Jedi voices is obviously fanservice, but this is fanservice I eat up like the hopeless nerd I am. :V We also heard non-movie Jedi like Kanan (I got so excited when I saw him in the credits I had to explain to the guy next to me my outburst lol), and it seems even ex-Jedi like Ahsoka were included. Given these are Jedi who are supposed to have passed on into the Cosmic Force, I have to say this doesn’t look good for Ahsoka. Not sure if Ezra was in there either, but if he was, then welp indeed. I’m officially worried for them, and whatever evil plans Dave Filoni has for them.

So yeah Rey beats Sheev, but it takes the life out of her to do so. BUT WAIT... BEN SOLO LIVES. Well, for now. Not gonna lie, I got excited when I saw him climb out of that chasm, I was like YEAH GO SAVE REY MAN. I literally heard someone cheer when he climbed out too. Rey of course did the Force healing thing on him before (and earlier on a serpent creature), but to bring her back Ben uses that same ability at the cost of his own life. But before he dies... Rey kisses him. Okay Reylos, you win. Not gonna lie though... I actually didn’t mind that moment? *raises internet hate mob shields* Don’t get me wrong, I’m not suddenly a Reylo convert so no need to cancel me or whatever you guys do, but for what it was, I didn’t mind it? Ben comes back knowing he’s going to probably die saving Rey, but does it anyway. When I said I feel like his true redemptive moment comes later than moping about Leia, this is what I meant. Before, he joined Rey to not betray his mother’s ideals and because of his connection with her. But now, he knows he’s a goner but wants her to live so he sacrifices his life to revive her. Like, this is a proper selfless act. He probably thinks she deserves to live more than he does after the shit he’s put everyone though anyway. It also averted my biggest concern with the Reylo thing - I was worried that it would end up making Rey’s story about saving Ben Solo like all the fan theories wanted, but here it was still firmly Rey’s story. If anything, Ben came to serve her story by letting her live on lol. So yeah, Reylo happened for like a minute... I somehow expect BOTH sides of the debate to be angry. The hardcore Reylos and “Bendemption” people will be upset because Ben dies, but the anti-Reylo people will hate it because Reylo happens at all, even for a second. And here I am, who’s just here like “that was a nice sweet moment plus yeah I want Rey to live over Ben lol”.

Okay, I should say that the whole climax got me smiling. From all the ships across the galaxy arriving to help to Rey getting power from past Jedi, to them melting away Palpatine (yeah he’s not surviving literal disintegration from force lighting deflected with the help of dead Jedi lol), to them taking out the Sith Fleet and everyone celebrating, it just was happy and more importantly, hopeful. Look, I get why people might not be into this movie, but I was genuinely giddy during this climax of not just a film or trilogy, but a now nine part saga (and yes it’s definitely staying as a nine part Skywalker Saga after Ben died, Rey only takes the name to honour the past). It really did feel like a big epic finale. Sure, like I said some of the stuff in the battle could’ve been fleshed out more, but the dumb nerd part of me enjoyed the epicness of it and its climax anyway.

The final scene was nice I guess. Rey finding an identity for herself she feels secure in, and the Luke and Leia ghosts was nice. Also the yellow lightsabre’s first film appearance signalling something new to come.

D-O was there I guess. Didn’t focus much on him and BB-8. C-3PO of course had a fair bit going on and his memory wipe did have some emotional impact even if we recover quickly because FAST PACE. R2 had some nice moments, I felt bad for him when 3PO didn’t recognise him actually, though of course R2 backs up whatever memories he has left of him (IDK what memories R2 had though). I wonder why C-3PO had a thing in his memory blocking him from translating Sith runes though.

Yeah, okay, there were a few fanservicey moments, I already mentioned some of course. Some felt like natural parallels but just with JJ’s lack of subtlety, there were a few that felt on the nose, but many were genuinely fun. Since it’s not just Return of the Jedi 2.0 but a new story that still has a few parallels (naturally, I need to dig for the ROTS and Phantom Menace ones next), it doesn’t feel as in your face as The Force Awakens which called back to so much of A New Hope and the Original Trilogy. But I mean, stuff like the Wedge cameo was cool (though ouch his son in law is dead, JJ killed off one of his best friends in Snap Wexley lol). IDK what the Tantive IV is back, but hey I can work with it. Since it’s capping off the whole saga, it calls back to all three trilogies and doesn’t hyperfocus on just one so it feels less over the top, to me anyway (or maybe my Prequel bias is showing lol).

So yeah... definitely not a perfect film, with a pretty rough first act, but I don’t think it’s a disaster like some people see it as. Could some things have been handled better? Definitely. Would I have preferred George Lucas’ ideas for the Sequel Trilogy instead despite them probably having less popular appeal? Yeah, I’m a weirdo, I know. But look, I went into this film simply wanting to enjoy it for what it was. And for what it was, I’d say it was mostly good. Sure, there’s rough patches, but the good parts are really good.

Meet The Mods - iftheskyisthelimit

We’ve had a few requests to do something similar to our “Behind The Screens” features in order to introduce ourselves, and we felt that after around a year of running this blog, and having another few people come on board along the way that now would probably be a good time to do it!

How did you find your way to the Thiam fandom? What about them drew you in?

I’d lurked in the Teen Wolf fandom for a while on Tumblr, and became really interested in Theo’s character and his story since he’d shown up in Season 5 (okay at first it was his looks that got me interested… let’s be honest), which evolved into being interested in his backstory when we found out a bit more about him. It wasn’t until his return in Season 6 that I enjoyed watching their characters together and their interactions and started looking around more on Tumblr for their characters that I discovered it wasn’t just me... then I randomly came across the Thiam ship through seeing some fics on Tumblr and found the Official Thiam Library as result of that...

Using a sentence, where the word count is either equal to or less than the number of letters in your two favorite Teen Wolf episode names, tell us about yourself. (ex, Motel California + Werewolves of London = 33 ; Raving + Galvanize =15)

Memory Found + Apotheosis = 21 - I’m slightly quirky but serious, love music, reading and travelling... kinda funny and always overly organised. Can’t ever cut something short...

What’s one thing about you or your life that we’d be surprised to know about?

Do you want serious, interesting or fun facts? I’ll do both as they might surprise people. Serious/boring: I have at least 3 chronic illnesses which tend to floor me, hence my long absences between writing & updating what I’m working on. Interesting: I can speak/read/understand around 5 languages and I’m a bit of a different cultures & sociology nerd.

One other thing I guess is when I get interested in a topic I get interested and have to know aallllll the ins and outs of it and thoroughly research it, so I’m probably full of boring random facts about a bunch of things that come in handy on general knowledge quizzes, but which no-one has any interest in knowing...

Shows: The Handmaids Tale, Animal Kingdom, The 100, Vikings, Stranger Things, All American, Riverdale, Scream, Supernatural, Parks and Rec, Vampire Diaries, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Twelve Monkeys, Shadow Hunters, Game Of Thrones, Reign, American Horror Story, Buffy… There are literally a ton more but I really can’t think on them at the moment….

Movies: I can’t really say that I follow movies per-se… if I had to choose I’d say Marvel movies though if that counts as an answer? Umm… genre wise I like a wide range but mainly gravitate towards comedy, action and thriller movies. Or something with a good twist in the story where it either throws what you thought you were watching on its head, or you get an “aaahhhhh that’s was happening” moment. To watch a horror, it has to have that something that makes me want to watch it or get invested in it… whether it’s a character I really relate to or can get invested in, or a really good story. My favourite horror is probably Haunting In Connecticut, and I saw Midsommar recently and thought it was really amazingly done!

Other Fandoms You Follow:

I don’t really follow a lot of fandoms if I’m honest. I would probably say after Teen Wolf I follow the Marvel, The 100 and Supernatural fandoms more. Mainly the Captain America/Steve/Bucky fandoms. I love a good discussion about Animal Kingdom too!

What do you like to create (writing/art/videos)?

I’d really love to be creative enough to make art or videos, but I’m really not! I’m far more comfortable with writing… I find it a lot easier to plan a story, or just to start writing and let the words flow that way and see where it goes. It’s a good way for me to express myself and to work through feelings or to just switch off for a while and create words on a page.

Do you only create for Teen Wolf/Thiam?

I have written for Supernatural in the past and I’m planning to write a Raphael fic for Shadow Hunters at some point and maybe a John Murphy one because I’ve not found many for him that cater to my angsty tastes when there’s so much that can be explored... But at the moment yes it’s only for Teen Wolf. I’ve also posted one Sceo fic which I would like to continue as well!

Which genres do you prefer reading and creating for?

Angst, angst, angst… did I mention angst?? It just feels right to me to write angstier fics, the words and ideas just seem to flow really well, which is a surprise as I’m not really an angsty person in life. It’s just what I’ve always gravitated towards writing and I find a lot better to express myself in that way. I have a humour/angst WIP which I decided to attempt a while ago and I did quite enjoy writing something a little different from what I normally do and people seemed to enjoy it.

If your creative process was a person, what type would they be? What would they do? Wear? Listen to? How do they handle conflict?

Quite probably the most disorganised messiest person alive… No not really… just sorta… kinda… maybe… In all seriousness, they’d be half organised and half “ lets see where this road takes us”. They would probably wear all black all day every day, and be a half emo kid who listens to punk pop and emo music from their teens with a healthy mix of dance and sad songs. Handling conflict? We don’t do that here… we bottle up our feelings and hide them away until they come out in the wrong ways. No really… I think they’d express themselves pretty clearly with 1000 words instead of 100.

How did you find the Official Thiam Library?

I found the Official Thiam Library through searching the Theo Raeken tags on Tumblr and seen the page name pop up a few times, I had a look at the page not long after and followed pretty quickly, I needed my Theo/Thiam fix and this page covered it very well!

First impressions?

“Woah, they’re on the ball!” and then when I saw a few of the events the page done I was really impressed at how often they posted recommendations and how they could organise it all.

How did you come to be involved on the mod team?

I filled in the form for Beta Readers and Helpers for the Thiam Big Bang, I’d have loved to have participated but I didn’t know if I’d have been able to commit to having such a large work completed on a deadline, so I thought I’d offer to help in another way, having helped to run the Supernatural SummerGen for a few years. Tiffany got back to me pretty quickly about it and I came on board at that point.

What do you feel that you bring to the team?

Uuuhhh… I hate these types of questions haha! I really feel like I mostly bring my organisational skills, along with the way that like to try and help out where I can in the background with writing/explaining things or getting back to people with asks/emails etc... With the Big Bang I brought my experience of things I’d learned from the Supernatural events I’d worked on too which I think/hope was of use?

What would you like to see for the Official Thiam Library over the next year?

I’d really love to see the page continue… continue on as is, doing a few more fandom events, grow as a page and fandom... also to help keeping the fandom going which is important right now I think… we’ve managed it so far though! We were just speaking about how thrilled we are that the fandom is still going strong. I also think it’s important to give older and newer fandom creators the recognition & cheer that they deserve too, which can be done through reblogging/recommendations and different events too.

Let’s imagine you’ve landed in a Zombie apocalypse, Walking Dead/Zombieland style. You’re among seven survivors–yourself and six characters from Teen Wolf. Which five would be your first choice for survival, entertainment, etc? And who would be the sixth character, the one you’d willingly push in front of a rage-filled zombie mob given the first chance?

I can’t help but feel that my choice for the last part will be unpopular but here goes:

Theo and Chris for survival… they seem like they’d both be good to have around in this sort of situation, Stiles for entertainment because he had his funny moments and would keep everyone going I think. Melissa because we all need a mother figure who knows when to be tough but can also provide you with the loving support you need. Scott because… well… he’s a the alpha and we’d need someone to lead our small group and take charge when needed.

Who would I willingly throw to the zombie mob given the first chance? Allison and Kira are both a tie here. Can’t I throw them both?? I never really liked Allison as a character… I don’t even really know why I just never gelled with her as a character I would like or could even get behind. Kira… ugh… just ugh… I feel like she was quite a forced character, they tried too hard to make her this cooky/funny character who could also kick ass and it just came off wrong to me… I never really warmed to her as she just felt forced.

If you could read only 5 fanfictions for an entire year, which would you choose? Thiam or another fandom, if not Thiam, which fandom?

You are our sensei and us your pupils, can you impart any life/writing wisdom?

Life wisdom: Don’t sweat the small stuff... seriously… it wastes so much time and energy that you could be using for other things. If you can’t control it or you don’t feel it’ll be bothering you this time next year, then don’t let it bog you down. People will come and go, that’s a part of life, take the lessons that they taught you from their time in your life (whether positively or negatively) and use them wisely.

Writing wisdom: Don’t force yourself. If you’re having an hour, a day, or a week where the words or ideas won’t come then don’t force it to happen, you’ll only feel worse. Step back, put on some music which suits the tone of whatever you’re writing and try to get in the mood of your story that way, it’s amazing the words that can come or the complete change in direction you can go from doing that.

Finally, what’s next for you?

Hopefully getting back into the swing of things with the Official Thiam Library and writing more again, getting ready for the Reverse Big Bang, and planning a few things in my personal life, like a few trips, my wedding and a house move (yes… I’m becoming a boring adult and it’s a scary new world!)

First Impression: Soni-Ani: Super Sonico the Animation

This is generally a SFW blog, and especially will continue to be one thanks to certain Tumblr policy changes, but this time a couple of the links are not (though still certainly not explicit), so be advised.

Without further ado, it's time again for Paul Is Weeaboo Trash!

Today's episode: Soni-Ani: Super Sonico the Animation (2014)

What happens when you take a trip to a ridiculously geeky store, encounter an aggressively-ganguro and barely-dressed figurine (that your wife immediately despises), and you think to yourself "what the hell is this?" You end up finding, and somewhat regretting, Super Sonico.

This is an odd show right off the bat just in terms of how it came to be. The main character originated as the mascot of a music festival of the same name, and she just seems to have taken off in popularity in Japan, spawning a series of media including video games, manga, and the anime that is today's topic.

Super Sonico (Yes, her name is すーぱーそに子. Family name "Suupaa", given name "Soniko".) is a bright but anxious college student who works a seemingly-impossible set of part-time jobs as a model, waitress, and guitarist for the band First Astronomical Velocity (apparently "escape velocity" is a better translation?). The first episode serves just as an introduction to the main characters with very little actual content or development. We see Sonico struggle to get up and go to class in the morning, prodded awake by her cats and repeatedly coming back to her apartment for things, we see her late but well-prepared for class, we see her go to work. The show threatens to get downright sleazy with the scene showing her modeling for a magazine, but backs off at the last second as we're "introduced" to Sonico's manager, Kitamura, who shows up unprompted in an oni mask straight out of Japanese theater to object to an unapproved costume change from a bikini to something presumably even skimpier that we never actually see. After the shoot, she goes to her second job waiting on customers at her grandmother's bar, which really doesn't seem to establish much of anything plot-wise, before we finally meet her band, which gathers at a rented studio to rehearse their new song, which bassist Suzu has evidently already recorded her own demo of.

That first episode amounts to an extended setup scene, and made me expect that maybe this would be another clumsy attempt at a cute slice-of-life show. However, the show does quickly gain self-contained structured plots. In episode 2 we get a better introduction to First Astronomical Velocity as they continue to rehearse for their upcoming concert. Just like she was at school, Sonico is anxious, enthusiastic, and serious about making good music. ��Suzu, the bassist, is overenthusiastic about the stage show side, seems to be in charge of costumes, and clearly either has a crush on Sonico or is a big fan of embarrassing her. Maybe both? Fuuri, the drummer, is shown at one point being the voice of reason trying to get Suzu to understand Sonico's feelings, but her personality is really mostly dominated by her being very quiet and eating a lot. The rest of the episode unfolds in a very sitcom kind of way: Sonico juggles too many responsibilities and skips a last-minute rehearsal before the band is performing to take another modeling gig. When she gets to the concert venue, however, the rest of the band is delayed and Sonico has to try to stall by performing solo in the costume she previously refused to wear before being saved by her bandmates at the last minute.

The third episode is dominated by another modeling gig, and with it more predictable excuses for fanservice, and although we're getting more screen time with characters who aren't Sonico, they still have very little in terms of personality, which is the show's biggest. We see more of Kitamura, for example, in part of episode 2 and most of 3, but mainly to continue to show that he is protective of Sonico and uncomfortable with the outfits magazines want her in. And that he never takes off that mask. The most interesting and noteworthy event in the episode, assuming you're not just here to leer at Sonico, is that it draws a little bit of a line for itself, as the biggest conflict is Kitamura drunkenly booking Sonico for a TV appearance without either of them knowing the full details, which ends up putting Sonico in a deeply uncomfortable situation that Kitamura interrupts, sword in hand.

Now, I don’t want to be the kind of person who criticizes a show for not being a different show, but at this point, I was just wishing they’d made the show more about the band itself because the modeling parts just drag it down. It didn’t look like it was going to improve, and I wanted to give up, but based on the plot synopses for the other episodes, I gave it one more try in hopes it would get more interesting and less gratuitous. I was immediately rewarded by a much, much better episode 4, which consists mostly of an extended flashback telling the story of how Sonico met Toma, a middle school friend with whom she is no longer in touch, from whom she got her guitar and learned to play it. In a rare moment of actual thoughtful writing, it becomes quite believable that Sonico was extremely shy and, through maturity and practice and the acceptance of friends, became the clearly anxious but overall more confident person we saw in the previous episodes. It’s like we’re seeing the same underlying conscientiousness manifest in different ways. The resolution of the episode is sweet, and I was thinking “maybe that was an anomaly and the rest of this show is going to be good!” After all, it’s quite possible for a show to be fanservicey and also clever or touching. But then the preview of episode 5 started, and it looks like it’ll be another pretext for mindless creepy fanservice (and Kitamura saving the day), so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Maybe the show alternates bad and good (or, more charitably, model-centric and band-centric) episodes? Overall, I just don't think I care enough to continue the series. It's not so bad I’m going to be stuck complaining about it, but it is wildly variable and not good enough overall for me to sit through the “ugh, again?” to get to the “oh, that’s pretty cool”. I’d call the first and third episodes actively bad, the second okay, and the fourth one good. Sonico is by far the most interesting and fleshed-out character, and that’s just not enough to make me actually get into it. Oh, and the punchline of the whole thing is: Super Pochaco, who that preposterous figurine is of, is just a background character in this show, first appearing in episode 4 (someone on TVTropes claims she shows up in the background in episode 3, but I didn't see her at all). I wasn't watching the show for her, but I did hope to find out what the deal is with that figurine. Meh. This is not the kind of trash your trashy host wants to dig any further through.

I might buy the music, though.

Weeb: Plenty of things would be clearer or enhanced by general background knowledge of Japan, but some defy explanation to the moderately-informed weeb — someone with no prior knowledge of traditional depictions of oni will look at Sonico's manager's mask and go "lol wut?", and even after consulting the Almighty Wikipedia, I still have no idea why that particular mask (which apparently represents a obsessive or jealous aristocratic woman?) was chosen. Also, a lot of on-screen Japanese text is left untranslated, so I wonder if there are sight gags I'm constantly missing.

Ass: Very fanservicey, without ever quite making it to nudity, but also surprisingly upfront and kind of creepy about it, like the show is just a pretext for watching Sonico’s gravure photoshoots. Like, I was even expecting this show to be basically just pandering for its presumed otaku audience, but it’s not even particularly good pandering. Outside of the photoshoots, the show is still full of individual shots that draw attention to the female characters' bodies, especially Sonico's breasts and thigh-high socks.

Shit (writing): Continuing that general thought, the fanservice level just ends up dragging and distracting and I think it should count as a point against the writing quality. As mentioned above in the main review, the writing is wildly variable from episode to episode. What little characterization there has been for the supporting cast has at least made Fuuri and Suzu entertaining and likeable, and the show certainly doesn’t go as far as that egregious Blend-S problem of not knowing where its own scenes or episodes should end. Not being terrible, however, is not the same as being good.

Shit (other): This show really is pretty, and most of the music (which there's a lot of, since each episode has its own unique ending themes, all performed by First Astronomical Velocity) is enjoyable. Honestly, it's just making me more interested in buying the actual albums than getting more into Sonico's various visual media.

Content Warning: Although it's in the context of Sonico attempting to act, and the scene overall ends up funny, and sets up an enjoyable post-credits scene, episode 3 contains a scene of clearly non-consensual groping, and viewers might be too uncomfortable with that.

- Huh. I was only dimly aware of "bullet screens", the practice of showing viewer comments scrolling across videos, as seen at the beginning of episode 2, and thought it was a very recent and distinctly Chinese phenomenon, but it apparently originated in Japan over a decade ago.

- It really shouldn't feel like such a distinct relief for a piece of otaku-centric media to finally sexualize someone who is unquestionably an adult, and who is choosing to be sexualized as part of a job she enjoys...

((okay so spoilers for s8 ep 18 aka on the road to friendship under the cut w/ a bunch of spoiler tags just in case))

So uhhh this episode was everything I wanted? A lot of it’s subtle things, but, I’m ghkjlhgfd I’m not crying you are. I don’t do horse analysis or reviews or anything like that I grew tired of those types of things ages ago bc it personally gets to a point where it sucks out the fun for me but I’m just gonna make bullet points of all of my thoughts. Mainly involving Trixie and how this episode ties into my portrayal of her. Probably others too, though.

The little magic show at the beginning? Wonderful. I love these two performing together.. and together in general. Twi & Caddy even agree on how they’re such a good duo.

Speaking of which, Twi complimenting Trixie with a huge smile? HERE. FOR. IT.

Flurry Heart watching the show was adorable. Also the inclusion of Granny Smith was of course great.

“Doing a show with you is almost as much fun as counseling students at Twilight’s school.” Almost? I’m disappointed. It’s not the first time I’ll be disappointed in Glim this episode, but we’ll get there. She’s still loved.. but it gets rough.

Loved how Hoo’far called Trixie “Miss Powerful” and her reaction to it. Just cute and silly.

TRIXIE’S. LOVE. FOR. HER. WAGON. I didn’t expect this to be a big plot point in the ep or really ever brought up, but I was so thrilled because that’s always been a small part of my Trixie. She loves her wagon. It may be small and cramped (and also, it apparently has a pretty fucked up doorknob) but it has sentimental value. It means a lot to her. I loved this so much. Not once did she stop and consider trading it for something that a lot would look at and assume was superior.

Moonwalking Trixie.

Trixie bringing up how traveling gets pretty lonely a few times in this ep. Pretty much something that’s easy to guess or assume, but that’s also something my Trixie hasn’t been too shy of admitting, either.

Trixie!!! Levitating!!! Herself!!! She obviously learned that from Starlight. Although we didn’t see it much, I’m so fucking thrilled that we see that Trixie’s been improving her magic. An issue I had with To Change A Changeling (which is just a nitpick) is that they really don’t bring that up. Personally, ever since All Bottled Up, I’ve definitely been convinced that Trixie actually has strong potential for magic, given the right teacher. Glim Glam succeeds there. I could go more into detail to why I think this is but I’ll spare you.

Trixie on the couch in Starlight’s office. I don’t even have to say anything. Just perfect.

I love how Trixie painstakingly made room for the both of them in the wagon. To it’s credit, looking at it paused, it at least isn’t as small on the inside as it is the outside. It has an entire cannon in there. It seemed like she set up two beds for them? Perhaps at least one of them was makeshift? It’s hard to tell, since Star brought stuff and then she set up hammocks. It did look slightly cozier in there before the extra luggage, though. What I guess I’m getting at, is that although it’s a tight squeeze, it’s good to see that it can at least fit two ponies, although it’s not entirely ideal.

Seeing the inside of the wagon’s been a thing I’ve wanted for ages. I could sit and look at every little thing in there and just smile for a while. Super cute.

Trixie really is sweet and considerate, you know. Seriously. Asking if Starlight is sure she doesn’t want to ride instead of walking with her, and giving her more than one chance to back out on the trip if she wants to.

THE SONG. Tell me I’m biased, I don’t care. This is my favorite horse song. I’ve waited patiently for pony Trix to sing... and it’s just.. all so fucking cute. Too much to take in.

More of Trixie’s magic shown in her shielding Starlight. Love it.

“For untold seasons yet to come, our friendship will be here!” “For nine, at least.” FUCKING. WOW. That’s clever but it also hurt my heart. Especially since my favorite friendship duo has only known each other for three of those seasons thus far, and ultimately it’ll only be four. Too soon, Glimmy.

Trixie talking about how she learned the hard way about life on the road and saving bits and all that. I like that. It shows her more mature side, and that she’s a little street smart from experience. Usually she’s kinda shown as less mature than Starlight, and this episode shows the flip side, which I really like.

I love how she’s adamant on buying hay cakes (Haycakes? They’ve used the word pancake before, though. What’s the difference?) from her preferred stand. Like.. me too, Trix. Clearly there’s a higher quality in the line that’s actually got ponies in it.

This is where Trixie and Starlight really start to argue like a married couple. Here I thought Applejack and Rainbow Dash took the prize for that. This is so domestic tho.

The first argument, at least, is short lived. I really liked that. Trixie sighs, presumably not wanting to push farther to where she hurts Starlight’s feelings. Love how she says “No, of course not.” and continues to apologize for getting snippy. She’s really improved on being.. to put it lightly, less bitchy. It’s what I love about watching her, and while To Change A Changeling was hilarious, that was my other nitpick. She had an attitude almost the entire time.. but it was funny, and I wouldn’t go as far as to call it OOC, so I wasn’t mad. The reason Trixie appeals to me so much is that she’s definitely a much nicer pony, but she’s still her. She hasn’t seemingly changed overnight from the first time we saw her, but she’s definitely made an effort. She’s quite the sweetheart when she wants to be.

I love how Trixie states that it’s taken her years to collect all of her magical items. I just think it’s neat. Also, rightfully getting offended when her stuff is called junk.

Coward Trixie returns. This is definitely me looking too deep into it but personally I’d like to think that yeah, after the Ursa event, I’d be scared of animals outside, too.

Starlight snoring and Trixie outright performing in her sleep. Lmfao. I’ve said this like fifteen times already about other things but I love it.

I relate to these tired and grumpy girls, but even I would have made sure to save some food / juice for my pal. Well.. maybe the juice was definitely out of spite. Wish I could scold her, but I would’ve done the same thing.

The grouchy magic show hurt me to watch. It was still funny though. Again, definitely arguing like a married couple. Two tired, angry friends trying to work together is just never gonna turn out right.

I love their voices in the “Practice makes perfect.” “Not today it didn’t.” exchange. So sassy. So higher pitched. Those faces, too. Lol.

Starlight throwing all of Trixie’s shit out followed by Trix yelling “You can HAVE IT ALL!” Oof. Almost like I’m watching a breakup right before my very eyes. Also the way she runs off. These poor hopeless gays.

STARLIGHT GLIMMER CONFIRMED WORST GIRLFRIEND. I’mjustkidding. Naturally I saw this coming from a mile away, but still. Wow. Ouch. I do like though how it seems to be consistent that she can be defensive of her bad decisions. Not really realizing that what she’s doing is wrong.

TRIXIE FREAKING OUT, THEN BEING BROUGHT TO TEARS BECAUSE STARLIGHT TRADED HER WAGON. This hurt me more than you could imagine, but what hurt me even more is that Starlight didn’t even flinch, and was completely insensitive about it for a while. Yikes. I already went into how much I love Trixie’s attachment to her wagon, but this killed me.

Also, pretty sure that selling or trading somebody else’s stuff is illegal, Star. Trixie shouldn’t have beef with Hoo’far. She should just be planning a lawsuit against Glimmer instead.

Am I just crazy or stupid? When Trixie tells Starlight that at least the wagon wouldn’t have traded her away, I was like, yEAH, you’re valid. Tell her. It made total sense to me. Then Starlight just responds with “That’s ridiculous.” Like?? It wasn’t to me? I sound silly now bc I get the joke, it’s an inanimate object, but what I’m trying to get at is that Trixie was pretty much trying to say that if Starlight really was her best friend she wouldn’t have done that.

I love how Trixie doesn’t accept the flattery from Hoo’far like she normally would bc she’s real pissed. To be fair, though, it’s really not his fault. I mean.. okay, a little, considering he should have known that it didn’t belong to Starlight, and that the trade needed to be given the okay by Trixie. He’s not a bad guy, though.

TRIXIE LYING IN FRONT OF THE CART FOR HOURS BC NO WAY IN HELL IS SHE LETTING THIS GUY TAKE IT. AMAZING. Give it up for his patience, too.

Starlight finds out that you win some and you lose some with the bigger caravan. Also, I love how she didn’t realize how fucked up stuff was when she was with Trixie and having a good time. Her regret sinking in seems about right. You can see her start to miss her.

“Sometimes travelling together is hard.” “But you reminded us that you can also make it fun!” Definite lesson that these two needed. Obviously Starlight was breaking before hearing that, but those big sad eyes she gets after. Regret.

“What are you two doing?” “Taking a stand! By lying down!” Lmao. Never change, Trixie.

“Best friends who share a deep bond but weren’t prepared for the emotional challenges of traveling.” Oh, definitely. Really feel like their first trip should have been a short one. Possibly with more planning ahead of time.

Best. Friendship. Chant.

“Only true friends would be willing to act so ridiculous for one another.” Aww. True.

“At a certain point, I don’t even like travelling with myself.” Line I really liked. Also Starlight saying that it’s harder than she thought.

Despite their exchange about knowing not to do it again, eh, still not wanting to completely rule out the thought of them travelling together in the future. Like I said, with more precautions taken, pretty sure they could’ve been just fine. Mainly reserving a room at an inn, since the big issue really just seemed to be them getting crabby sleeping in the wagon. Would’ve preferred it if it kinda gave that lesson and had Trixie say that they’ll know how to handle it next time, with both of them saying yeah, but let’s not make that anytime soon.

Trixie and Starlight almost killed an old man.

That’s it, if anyone even read through all of that. Can’t really say much more. This may or may not be my favorite Trixie episode. I’ll have to give it some time, but I loved almost everything about it. (No Second Prances is my current favorite I suppose, due to it also validating a lot of how I viewed Trixie at the time, and still do.)

Like I said.. it’s just really refreshing to see her take on a more mature stance than Starlight for the most part, since other episodes usually show the exact opposite. Not that Starlight is incredibly mature in her own right, but she does usually take that role when it comes to her dynamic with Trixie. I love any chance we get to see Trixie, but in episodes like To Change A Changeling, sometimes I worry that they don’t give her enough credit. She’s not a complete incompetent bitch, and to be fair, I don’t think she ever really has been. I won’t go into how I personally view her flaws, though. Guess that could be another post.

Until next time. Hopefully there is another next time. Starlight’s line in the song about nine seasons still has me all fucked up and I need help. Maybe one day I could go back and do these for past Trix episodes.

Boy I might ramble so let me put this under the Cut ft. suitable image that describes the mood.

I answer all ur points so- how i found jack (also how i found blands)- about my self insert- what i love abt him

So like. I’ll start with how I found Jack cos that’s always a fun story to tell. Jump back to late 2014, like November-December, FNAF fandom was having it’s first stagnant phase, and I wasn’t back into Homestuck yet. I spent most of my time watching youtubers like Markiplier and RPGMinx, anyone I found from FNAF videos basically. So like all the people that played Prop Hunt together on those channels, I found them all and watched them all. Was also a time that I watched people on Twitch when I really ran out of shit to watch.

So it’s like, late November, first week of December, can’t remember which, was browsing Twitch for something to watch, saw Cryotic was streaming and was like “hey I know that person they don’t stream too much I think I’ll watch them”. Cry was playing TFTBL Ep1. I watched like, from the point where Rhys and Vaughn enter Shade’s lil place. And I think I went to bed before it finished. Went to school the next day and talked to a friend about it, telling them about this new game I saw, my friend knew it too so we talked about it for a while. By December 10th, I’d bought the game, and by December 20th, I had all of the Borderlands games.

So how did I actually find out about Jack and fall for that idiot? Well my stupid ass didn’t meet him in TFTBL because I finished the first episode AFTER starting the other games. So I actually met him in TPS. On Christmas Eve. I was Hooked. Because I played like, all the starts of the games before I played the endings, I still knew he was gonna be a terrible shitty idiot.

At the time I was going through some bad shit, like I’m sure it was the midpoint between two major points of abuse in my life, so I was already diving into coping mechanisms and recently was self shipping again, so I latched onto Jack and have been really gay for him ever since. Although I never posted it on my blog until this year, as I didn’t know of the self ship side of tumblr, and due to all the discourse Jack causes, I didn’t want to cause trouble or be judged or anything so I kept my mouth shut. And now I don’t shut up about it in my group chat, annnnd now here I guess too jdshgjdsg.

Hell my old blog you can’t find one post about me LIKING Jack, let alone self ship or anything. And I still left the fandom and abandoned those blogs due to my only friends at the time constantly insulting the games, to the point where I didn’t want to play them anymore. (Like, they were fans of the games but, in a “I hate the fact there are canon lesbians and lots of lgbt people and memes and shit in the games” so they were mad non stop and ranted at me, the 14 year old loner jdhsgjdsg.)

So yeah. 3+ Years of Jack Hell.

Anyways, I do have a self insert!!! Her name is AJ and she is the Worst. She’s super OP and super cringy but I don’t care because I’m having fun. She’s been through a lot of design changes, with one from 2014, and then a lot from January. But the overall character hasn’t changed. She’s me but too op (being a very old siren with pink tats that still looks 21) and good looking and Actually Smooching Jack. You can find the most recent drawing of her here! Her tag has some of her older art but not all of it.

Story wise, she has an AU timeline with Jack where like, I gave him a new backstory (no wives or gfs… only me now….), but the main games plots stay the same, until her own big plot after BL2.

AJ meets Jack at a Hyperion Science Facility on Pandora, when he’s only 19 years old, young Hyperion programmer that was only there to fix some equipment and move on. He has Angel when he’s 20, believing her to be from a drunken one night stand with a scientist at the facility, who Died p much right away. He doesn’t actually see AJ again until he’s 23-24, when hes taken over this project to shut it down. Moves AJ to where he’s living cos boi he has a thing for this girl he saw only one time. Spent like a year together and then started dating the day before Mercenary Day (aka December 24th, like how thats the day I first found Jack dsjhgjdsg).

Pretty much from there it’s just. AJ helps out with BL1, would be present in TPS like a player character, I guess. Around Jack a lot bc she lov him. BL2 she’s mainly on Helios, like Jack, so probably wouldn’t be seen. Post BL2 she’s stuck on Helios, trapped in Jack’s Office, for seven years, had her arm cut off and all, it’s not pretty. TFTBL starts to happen, moment Rhys enters Jack’s Office shit changes because AJ is there, Rhys breaks AJ out of the office and onto Pandora. She also somehow gets AI Jack who has no clue who she is and is only nice to her to keep her alive so he can stay alive too. (We joked that she slaps the AI out of Rhys and honestly. Mood). She stays on Pandora for 3 years with AI Jack, Vaughn, and some contact with a few Hyperion people. Ends up opening a vault, finds it to be one like Eleseer, instead of knowledge it gives her power.

Then you get my lil story aka Borderlands: Infinite, aka BL8, which many people in my group chat are a part of. This currently doesn’t have a set plot, other than there being a paradox world, AI Jack is a main villain, Lilith and AJ are on opposing sides, and everyone comes back to life a little. It’s really weird.

What I love most about Jack is he is an absolute bastard. But he’s really funny and his voice is really good and I think he lives up to the handsome part of his name. Hell I even like the soul patch from TPS even though nearly everyone hates that. He’s such a nerd. An evil boi. Absolutely terrible.

AJ wise she’s pretty much the same, he’s pretty much the first person she ever gets to know, he looks after her, plus she’s with him from way before he goes off the rails. She just so happens to sorta go off at the same time. Which is why she sticks around when he starts doin bad shit. And Jack’s into her because she’s the cutest damn siren to ever exist like how could you resist. She makes shitty jokes about her being an engineer and him being a programmer.

Before like, TPS their fav thing to do usually involved the ECHOnet, playing games, watching movies, simple stuff. AJ couldn’t really go out much as she was depression (and also needed to be hooked up to electricity at all times. She’s weird. There’s a metaphor in there somewhere for something.) Post TPS she probably enjoyed following Jack around, bein the trophy GF, and also shooting a lot of people. How the times change.

Okayy so I recently ruined my life by watching like 14 years of a tv show in less than a month. So now, yes, I sold my soul to the one and only supernatural fandom (courtesy of @downworlderss)

I just got a couple of remarks for this show and none of it had any structure or order so here we go.

Part 1: Preparing for the worst

I did a POV zombie fanfic. There will be more parts, just have been too lazy to write anything. Craig's POV:

First day of my Senior year and I haven't even seen anyone from town in a week. Visiting my extended family in other states was so tiring. I sigh, wondering who would show their face to me first. Without a doubt it's Clyde, loudly calling my name seemed to call attention of the others.

" Craig! It's been a while man! What's up with the family?"

I shrug, not really wishing to tell them my grandma died. That shit was personal. " Nothing, but being in a car so long left my ass numb..." I could still feel the sting of numbness in my posterior.

Tweek just looked at me intensely and I gave in. " Yes?"

" You forgot to text me yesterday."

"NO!" Clyde gasped " Tell me it isn't true."

Token slapped him for me and I nodded my thanks.

" I fell asleep in the car, when I woke up my phone was dead."

" You left me on read." Tweek crossed his arms, here we go...

I sigh and try to cover up my shame for not replying " I fell asleep before I could finish the text. Ruby finally had shut up for once and I was tired. I don't know what else you want from me."

I must have done a shitty job with it as usual because I can't hide anything from him. Tweek tilted his head and shrugged. " Fine, j-just don't do it again." He huffed and took my hand, leading into the school. " We'll be late if we wait any longer."

That was way easier than last time, last time he accused me of being too busy for him. Whatever makes him happy.

First day goes by fast with introductions and those little 'Get to know you better' papers. Needless to say the only thing I disliked about it was the fact Kenny kept hitting on the younger years. He never means it, he just thinks it's funny to make them confused or blush. Tweek made lunch for us today. He says he'll start making lunch for us every day from now on. I had offered to help him, but he was determined to do it himself. Saying ' I want to suprise you with things dayly.' God damn I love him. His twitching never left him, but instead only happens once in a while per conversation. He stresses about things and it gets worse, but when that happens I'm always there for him. Clyde and Token chose to sit with Stan and his guys, suprisingly the girls are constantly inviting us to their tables. Not that I care much, as long as they don't hit on us. So far Tweek's fitting in with them, his new found sass about things is entertaining to say the least.

On the ride home Tweek sits next to me. " Did you see the way Butters looks at Ken?" Clyde chipped in from the seat infront of us. Dumb ass was on his knees looking over the seat.

" No, why? Is there another gay couple in South Park now?" Craig wondered how this would fair with the fan girls at the school.

" Kenny hasn't been seen kissing ANYONE for the whole SUMMER!" Clyde exclaimed. When was he not loud? Oh yeah, never. I cross my arms and Tweek just looks at Kenny and Butters, Kenny at the back of the bus and Butters up front.

" I don't see them ever interact though." Tweek sounded confused and aprehensive.

" I bet you they fuck." Clyde grinned and that earned a swift galre from Tweek. " We don't talk about those things, it's only going to make things worse for them if we spread rumors like that."

" He's right. Clyde sit down like a normal idiot." Token pulled him down onto the seat.

"Aww! No fair! I'm allowed to have my observations too!" He whined and pouted.

Getting off the bus was harder than usual, somewhere from Stan's place to my own Kyle and Cartman started fighting, they only got more agressive towards one another through the years. Kyle even taking Judo classes so when Cartman challenges him it doesn't take much of anything to knock his ass out. Cartman lost weight over the years, him and Clyde almost weighed the same now. That fact can never be said infront of Clyde however because he starts crying about it. When Kyle kicks him out of the bus and I get off, the bus heads off without Cartman.

" Dumb ass, you never learn to stop fucking with Kyle." I kick him in the side for good measure, then head inside. Red Racer sadly ended when I was sixteen, I have since then watched the whole series twice over from first episode to the last. Today's episodes were more of a filler episode than most. I zone out while watching five or six episodes, so much so I miss dinner and have to heat it up. Mac n' Cheese with Fishsticks and grean beans. Ah how American of them. I smile to myself as I eat the meal. Looking at the clock, it's almost seven. I sigh, at least it wasn't too late. I took my phone out. Three unread text messages, at least one of those was from Tweek. I open the ones from Clyde and Stan first. Tweek's message chills me a bit.

Tweek's POV:

What. What was that? I must have been seeing things, no, no I wasn't seeing anything. That was for sure what the news story was about. The screams of terror and dismay echoed. Zombies? Looking at my phone as I packed as many useful things as possible, I look on as Craig is texting me back finally. " Why do I need to get as much as food and supplies as possible? What's with the weapon reconmendations anyway? Are we playing again?"

" NO! THIS IS REAL!" I shouted as I typed up the same message. " I swear Craig, tell your dad you guys need to meet here at my place. I texted the others to do the same. I'm not kidding, zombies are real!" I scream to myself as I'm set into panic mode. My parents saw the same thing and are trying to get ahold of other parents they know.

" What kind of Zombies though? Like The Walking Dead zombies? Spore Zombies? Fast running ones?"

"WHY WOULD I KNOW THAT YET!?" I feel like this is a lost cause. I should have just told the guys and not the parents. I text him back, fumbling over my own fingers. " I dont know thy dont look like theyr runners."

" Hold on, I'm packing things. Do you think a compound bow is okay for this? I mean, besides that I have a bat."

" Take both, please be careful." I looked out my window as some of the other boys and the parents started for my house.

I get my stuff on, a hiking backpack that I had bought for camping full of useful things and head downstairs. Kids and parents piling in, some of them being made to go upstairs. The parents mainly talking about a plan. Randy seemed to be really into the idea that was being shared, but Sharron and most of the moms hate the idea. I creep my way to the door and flag down Craig as he heads over with his parents and sister Ruby. First thing he does is hug me. There is a time and a place Tucker! I groan and hug him back for a second before leading him inside. Cartman, Kyle, Stan, Kenny, Butters, Myslef and Criag were all together. Clyde, Token, Bebe, Wendy, Jimmy, and Timmy were across the room. The parents were seperating people into groups for travel. The noise the house was under made me shudder, I take a peek out of the window. Oh god. Oh jesus, oh god. No. The zombies were slowly approaching at a steady pace from the graveyard area. I can't say anything but I do manage an "AAAAUGH!"

Craig, bless him, looks out and in a deadpan voice says. " Oh, The Walking Dead zombies. Cool."

I want to strangle him for that but instead I end up making the whole place become on edge. They start ordering us out, this was apparently the plan. We were the B Team. Token, Clyde, Bebe, Wendy, Jimmy and Timmy were the A Team. They got the keys to my family's two cars and were sent off first with supplies. Jimbo supplied everyone with at least two guns. Team B, us, we're sent to both the neighbors houses Kyle won't leave Ike, so he's sent with us. Kyle, Ike, Stan and Cartman take the left. Craig, Kenny, Butters and myself took the right side. Thanks to the fact we're not slow as a group we get into the car. Craig takes the wheel and we're out of town within a few minutes. People I didn't know well in town, they were being eaten or trying to escape the madess. I just closed my eyes and curled up. Craig wouldn't allow me to sit in the back when we piled in, so I had a close up on what was happening. " Damn it... This car only has half a tank." Craig sighed , country roads hard to see, using the headlights on this thing wasn't working. " M-My mom and dad. They Euuggh- always have both tanks filled. Token and Wendy shouldn't have problems." I get a text. Why wouldn't I? Maybe all those movies and TV shows were wrong about the immediate cut of electronics. It was Clyde, thank goodness it was him!

" How are you guys holding up? Wanna meet at that weird off road gas station and talk? Maybe switch team mates? We have Jimmy and Timmy with us, I think both teams should have one. "

" Yeah, s-sure." I look up to Craig. " Clyde wants to meet at that Shell up the road a bit."

" Good, we can talk to them like normal people. Stupid parents..."

"Wait..." I look back at the phone. " Did you ask Jimmy about this?"

"Dude, Jimmy's the one who suggested it! He thinks Timmy should stay with me and Token and he should go to your team." Clyde's words meant he was serious.

At the gas station we made sure no zombies were around, the place was evacuated and there was still food, Token split up what he found between the groups. " Enough for both A and B teams. In case you guys run in with one another." Token was so calm, I wonder how he does it. I get a huge hug from Clyde who looked to be just freshly done with crying. " I'm going to miss you and Craig so much Tweek..." His voice... He was. Talking softly. Clyde. I hug him back and nodd. " We'll miss you guys too, but they sent us in teams for reasons." Token came over with Craig." I heard it was the best way for our survival."

Jimmy headed over from where he was talking to Butters. " BBButters and I ha-have made an agreement. I will svwitch places w-with him."

" I have no problems taking over for him." Butters was arguing with Kenny. " Don't you see it's unfit for them to have two people who can die easily?"

" YOU can die easily!" Kenny groaned and grit his teeth. " Why you though. Why do you have to go."

"Because Tweek and Craig shouldn't be separated."

"We shouldn't be separated Butters! I don't know what I'd do if you died on me." There was desperation in Kenny's voice.

" Then don't die on me, and I won't on you." He smiled and Kenny hugged him.

I bet Clyde couldn't help himself, because the dummy started wiggling his eye brows at me and making weird noises.

" Stop being this way Clyde..." I sigh. " What weapon did you pack, those guns should be a last resort."

" I have a whole thing of tools with me." Token said.

Clyde pulled out a knife. " It was the closest thing."

Butters showed he had a frying pan. " These things hurt real bad."

" It's not about pain it's bout destroying the brain." Clyde chipped in.

" Aww Hamburgers..." Butters kicked the ground with a scuffing noise.

" It's a good enough weapon." I nod in approval.

Craig had his bat on hand. " You already know what I have."

" I d-don't have any weapons but the gggun." Jimmy pointed out.

"Timmeh!" Timmy showed his hands.

" What did you bring Tweek?" Clyde was curiously eyeing him.

He went to the trunk and got out his sword. " I always have it sharpened. I also have a poison dart set I made myself and the ingredents for a few different kinds of explosives. I got them f-from a chemicle website."

I may have said something weird. Did I? Why were they looking at me like I was weird. I put my stuff away.

Craig came over and pat me on the head, something he does on occasion. " That's my boyfriend. Always ready."

I smile for what seems to be the first time tonight since the incident.

Stan's POV:

I take on the role of driver as Kyle uses a local and nationwide map and marks off where we came from and where we're going. Cartman is oddly quiet as he looks out the window and Ike is in his seat playing with one of Kyle's action figures. Not too many Zombies the way we're going, a few cars were on the side of the road, maybe a few accidents here or there, but nothing we couldn't handle. Being in a rush we completely forgot about our other half of our group. Man, I hope they chose a good route or at least something. They had gotten the text that Craig was the driver of the other car and that they had food and water if they could meet. Problem was, when they left in the direction they did, there was like a huge pile up that happened behind them. Not knowing where to go next Stan just started going through small towns.

Kyle took out his phone and called his mom. No answer was an answer on it's own. He got annoyed and turned it off to save battery. " I'm glad I packed these maps.."

"What else did ya pack Kehl?" Cartman had his usual inflection to his voice, but as far as Stan could tell it wasn't like he was taunting the guy.

" I packed four note books, writing utensils, a few books, maps of all over north america, and a chainsaw from my back yard. My dad got it, and never used it. Said it was too loud or some shit. I think I can mod it to be more quiet."

" I gotta go pee!" Ike whined.

" Pull over and let him pee, I'll keep watch." Kyle took out a dagger and Stan pulled over. Ike went right by the car as Kyle instructed and they were on their way in no time. A bed and breakfast was close to where they were and Stan hoped they could sleep tonight, they would need it.

" I think Wendy went this way Stan." Kyle pointed out the street sign that had a purple W and a yellow B on it. "Wendy and Bebe."

YES! Maybe we could sleep after all. I hope Wendy has secured the Inn.

Upon arrival to the Bed and Breakfast, they found cars parked in a manner resembling a fort wall. Wendy took aim at them with a rifle. "Who are you, what do you want, and when are you LEAVING."

Stan parked the car with the lights on so when the four of them got out Wendy could see them. " It's Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Ike. We wanna know if we could crash here. And we'll leave tomorrow."

" Oh you guys! We've been here for nearly an hour setting up." Bebe let them in. " We found a few loners, oh and Shelly."

Shelly was writing something in a book.

" We have room for tonight. I think Bebe and I will stay here, close to town, for a while."

" Yeah, predicting we have about four months of food rations."

" Craig and Token have more food, but they went East." Kyle stated as he lead Ike to one of the rooms that had a cracked open door.

Cartman took the room opposite of Kyle's.

" Stan, what do you think about the groups... Do you think we'll survive?" Wendy looked exausted. The way her hair... and her eyes... It was just... Damn she was hot when she was in charge like that. I had to stop looking at her before I vomited. " I-I think my group can survive, You and Bebe look to be doing fine already. Craig might come into some trouble, but I'm most worried about Token."

" We should have taken Timmy, damn it, I know!" She groaned and face palmed. " We weren't thinking Stan, we left both Jimmy and Timmy with Token and Cyle. Token can handle himself, Clyde is okay, but Jimmy and Timmy?"

I have to calm her down. " Maybe if we meet up with them in the future, we can see if they survived. If that's the case then, you can just ask if one of them wants to join you."

Wendy sighed. " Yeah, thanks. Go turn your car's lights off now..."

I just smile sheepishly and go to get the lights turned off and park the car within the barrier.

Kyle's POV:

Taking out some paper and a pen I start to write. " I think today was possibly the worst day of my life. I can't confirm it yet, but I think my mom at least is dead. She'd never leave a call from me hanging. Besides that, I'm in a group with Cartman. Cartman. God I hate writing that name." I use white out to take out the word 'Cartman' both times. "There, that's better. No more of that name here. I have to think about Ike now. He's far too small for this sort of thing, but it's not like we have a choice. I'm going to teach him how to shoot a gun soon. He needs to know." I sigh and look at my younger brother. " I swear I'll protect you, Ike." He kissed his sleeping head goodnight and turned off the bedside light to lay down for some rest. With Wendy on alert, we should be fine. I trust her.

It was the sun that woke him up, Ike was trying to read a big book. " Kyle! How do you wead... Paernora...."

"What?" I went over, the book was a study on the paranormal. " Oh, paranormal. Like what we thought Zombies were. It's mainly just hypothetical."

Ike tilted his head.

" Big 'What ifs.'" I explain.

" Oh!" He goes back to trying to read. He's going to be smart I think to myself as I look out the window. Stan is already up and helping Bebe with the rigging of barbed wire made from electrical chords.

" Smart move girls. " I say as I head outside, things all packed and Ike in tow.

" Thanks Kyle, you know you guys can stay here if you want. " Bebe offered. "Stan was a big help this morning."

" I think we should all have our separate things. Stan come on, we need to go before it gets too late."

Cartman comes out from his room, not packed and sloppy as hell. " Go get packed asshole we're leaving."

" EH! Don't call me an Asshole! I didn't even do anything yet!"

" Yeah, that's the point. GO PACK." Why do I even loose my temper so badly with him anyway, I used to be able to handle anything he said. Now I just want... No, I want it but I can't say what. That would be admiting to myself that I've givin in. I just glare at him as he mutters to himself and goes to pack.

Clyde's POV:

OMG! It's HAPPENING! Bunny bunny bunny bunny~ I giggle to myself as Butters and Kenny keep their embrace, the others are sorting out what to do and where to go. I mean I could listen in, but I don't want to. Not knowing where we're going is basically what an adventurer strives for. And in all honesty, I have to keep this an adventure because what it really is, is killing me inside. I'm left without my Bro and Tweek. It's not fair! Token treats me like a kid too, and while that's good in some cases like an extra juice box, it SUCKS in other cases! I hear my name and tune into their channel. " Clyde and I should trade places as well. I can't leave Butters."

No. Freakin. WAY! I looked at Tweek and Craig with my signature puppy dog eyes.

" Are you sure Kenny, we could need you man. You're crafty."

"They have Timmy, if Timmy's wheelchair gets broken or stops working for some reason. I can carry him. Clyde can't."

I stop begging. What? How dare he. I can SO carry Timmy. For like a block.... And then... Nevermind, it's true they need him.

" No, you take Clyde." Tweek looked at me. " I think he's better off with you."

" Then I'm leaving you guys for Butters."

Craig frowned. " That's not even though. How will Tweek and I take care of Jimmy?"

I sigh. " It's okay. I'll stay with Token."

Token broke appart Kenny and Butters and took Butters to his car. Craig taking Kenny, who faught with him about it, back to thier car.

I take a last glance at my friends as we depart down a fork in the road. I hope Token has orange juice...

Episode 10: “It’s Like Giving A Baby A Glock” - Mo

I’ve been tricked, I’ve been backstabbed and, quite possibly, bamboozled.

So like here’s the thing, the person I thought going into merge I could trust the least is apparently now my closest ally. That’s Julia. I thought everyone was on the same page of voting out Tom like oh we’re gucci. But fucking quick fake out, no such thing as Tom getting voted out. I literally started hysterically laughing because no one was answering me when I asked what happened on the call. Now I don’t know what to do but I’m still just gonna have fun.

operation vote alex was a success. i feel really really awful because he looked so upset, but he was just too powerful and couldn't stick around any longer ahh. in other news sleeping beauty tom is so funny, he almost self-voted himself out of the game I am truly screaming. i was determined this season to make up for the last time we played together and i think i got to do that ahh.

in other news... i need to go into hiding. i have done way too much in both of the last votes, and its really gonna start getting me some attention unless i really really go under the radar. me and jules are the only people who voted both ian and alex, and on call with jason i think its obvious to him now that us two are close eek!

i feel like mo is a good next vote, he is much more of an outsider than jones and is an easy vote which is what i need since im in such a highlighted position at the moment eek, i really think i'm gonna go like 8th or something, so we will see how that little pickle goes eek!

Firstly Ian gets blindsided and I knew it would be a split vote but had no clue he was leaving wow... but then this round all the people who organised that got blindsided with the Alex vote hehe. I didn't vote him bc my vote was publicized by Ian even tho I didn't vote him smh but I fully knew about it and kinda helped with it even tho its mainly caelebs move

Alex was super nice I liked him but it was purely for game he was the biggest threat and we were almost certain he had durmitor idol so! Even with tom self voting it worked wowow so I guess jules also voted with ali/caeleb/mitch/Jason

Ok ok after tending to my needy cat, taking a shower, and taking a short 6 hour nap that others may call sleep,,, I’m 60% in the right headspace to gather my thoughts I think.

Last nights move was so good, I hated it Bc I wasn’t included in it but it was so good. But also seeing Alex literally on the verge of tears was NOT so good. That was actually depressing. Granted he WAS the biggest threat to win and he was on the verge of becoming an extremely controlling paranoid person - but dammit the combination of Mitch/Ali/Jason/Jules/Caeleb/Tom (to an extent) got us SO good.

BTW I can say with like 95% certainty that those were the 6 people involved w Alex going. It only makes sense to me that it would be? Ali/Mitch/Tom straight up TOLD me why they did what they did, Jason Bc why the fuck would he vote out Tom, Caeleb has expressed so much paranoia ab Alex that I’d be shocked if he wasn’t on board w it, and honestly Jules just hasn’t said anything ab anything and Alex went home w 5 votes, Benj and Julia voted Jason, Mo was VISIBLY shaken by Alex going, and I know I didn’t do it. So unless I’m missing someone in my process of elimination, those are the 6 people involved in the murder of Alexander Crooks.

Also on a couple unrelated notes - I’m thinking ab willing my vote cover to someone. I just don’t understand why I should be afraid of being exposed - I feel like I shouldn’t have anything to hide yk? Assuming I have to expose my vote I mean, hopefully I don’t! But ya

Also literally the round Before last round I think Caeleb actually exposed the plan to blindside Alex to me ? Like he was talking to me ab Tom and Ali wanting to get him out and then I approached Ali ab it and he was like no that’s not a thing BUT IT WAS A THING!! I think Alex was supposed to go last round, but Bc I confronted Ali ab it then it got pushed back??? Or it was legit just meant for this round smdmmdmd but um ya that’s might be the same plan?? So maybe I’ll expose Caeleb a bit hehehehe.

But honestly tho I think this could be really good for me in the sense that every single person thought of me as a duo w Alex - now I’m kind of a free agent who can do whatever the fuck I want!! Which is fun, the only true alliances I have w people now are just w benj and mo, which is cute and also I doubt anyone would target them anytime soon ? Tom seems like he’s still open to working w me, so are Ali and Mitch. Julia was also blindsided hardcore so maybe she’d be down to work out something too ? Right now I’m just holding out hope knowing for a fact that I CAN make this situation better. I’ve literally BEEN in this situation 2 times already?? I can do this! Just like Co-Star always tells me.

Wait just kidding on the Julia thing I can’t trust her either, I can only trust Jones at the moment.

So I found out from Benj that there was another split vote led by Alex. Last tribal he failed to tell me that they were going to vote out Ian instead of Jason. So this time around, when I found out that they were going to do the same thing to me again, I knew there was no going back with my new connection with Ali. The more I talked around with everyone the more the pieces started to align. Tom and Jason were targets so they would be easy to get involved. With me and Ali that's already 4. Mitch was going to be the fifth, and Jules as well if we felt like he wasn't going to go for it. I honestly wanted to vote Jules first tho, and I talked to Ali and Benj about that originally, but Ali had reservations as Jules is SUCH a flipper. AND THEN Julia voted so early, so I kinda went up to everyone in this new group and was like, "okay that was arrogant I think she's trying to be funny but thats enough for me to vote her," and Ali was way more into that so for a couple hours we had that going. BUT MITCH WAS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN. Like we had our four and we were ready but Mitch didn't come on line until like 40 min before tribal. And when he did he was like I'm voting Alex. I really didn't want to go for Alex right away because of a couple of reasons. One being that if he heard of this vote in anyyy way he might be able to get Jones to play her idol for him and that could destroy everything. SECONDLY, I knew that if we voted him then I was gonna have to do some SERIOUS damage control with Mo and Jones but if I had the opportunity to vote out Julia instead, I can go back to them and say that I knew I had to take the opportunity to be involved in the decisions but I didn't want it to be any of them. SOOO last 40 min I had to make a really big decision if I was gonna vote Alex or Tom and ultimately, I chose to vote out Alex. It just would put me in a better position.

I am so glad I did it to be honest. The moment I saw Alex's name five times I knew I made the right decision. I felt Happy and I felt Free. Alex was clearly using me as a failsafe, an easy first vote out once Me, Mo, Alex, Jones, Julia, Jules, and Ali were left. Now, this game is open up not just for me, but for everybody. I seriously think anyone can take control at this point. I don't need it to be me, I just need it to be someone who likes me. I think Jones is the most dangerous player right now, because of her idol. But I have kept that to myself, as well as her advantage, because while I might have to play the middle ground, I'm not a snitch.

Everyone is always so obsessed with being a hero or a villain. Going into Tumblr Survivor as a new player I really wanted to find out what type of player I was going to become. If I was gonna fit into one of those roles. I don't know what I am. I kinda feel like a villain because clearly that was a devious move, and I broke a strong alliance, but also I feel like I was a villain by default. I didn't necessarily want to be that player, I actually would've loved to have felt safe in that group. But trust has gotta go both ways, and if you show me two tribals in a row that you don't trust me to tell me the whole plan, I'm not gonna stick true with a group that sees me as expendable. So sure I was a villain, but it wasn't about vengeance or deceit or ill-will. It was to put this game back on a balance, and move me into a new spot that can work for me.

Okay, something I have learned about Survivor is that you have to put your Pride in Check. Tom is so nice to me, says a lot of things along the lines of "thanks for saving me," "you and I can go far in this," and such. And he told me he wasn't going to vote me in the first merge vote, and I think he believes that he fooled me. I know he voted me. He's literally the only person that would think voting me was the majority vote, except Ian and Jason. I wanna tell him that I know so badly so he doesn't think he's pulling one over me but I can't because I want him to think he can work with me, that I am in his pocket because he "stuck his neck out for me" or whatever.

Also ummm Mitch told me that Alex had a planned assassination on me for the last vote before merge. But he didn't tell me until after the Alex vote and said Jones was in on it. I know better than to trust what Mitch tells me for sure, so I don't think I will even go and fact check him on it. I honestly don't know how that would've helped Alex in the slightest so I don't know if its true, but also Alex likes to throw out my name as a "just in case" so god who knows. Regardless, I doubt I'll use this information for anything because it honestly doesn't matter going forward, other than that Mitch is a little bit of a snake.

Like all three of the people voted Alex off without telling me about anything and I was in an alliance chat with all three of them (Ali & Jules in Space Jam, Caeleb in Durmitor Dominators) so like of course I was sad because that meant I was on the outs. Truth be told I kinda wish I didn’t win this because it’s like giving a baby a glock. Because I don’t know how to come out of this without people thinking I’m holding a grudge.

okay so mo won reward which is okay! I dont really wanna ask him to save me, because that will require making promises that I dont know if I'll be able to keep. I expect to be cursed this round.

touchy subjects is going to tank my game like CRAZY. I'm worried that Caeleb, Benj & Jules could all say they trust me most which is highkey terrifying, because if I win that it'll send red flags to all of them. I expect to win the shady game ones, about lying and flipping on alliances and stuff which is not as bad because I can just blame that on Space Jam which I told Caeleb about.

My big fear and this could just be ego-talking, like when I thought I was gonna win the lists challenge and then came second last but I'm so worried about getting the will win if they make it to the end category, thats... a death sentence in my opinion.

Wanna do like a quick update for each person too, just so I can look back when they all hate me at the end of the season:

Benj: my KING. He is such a legend, I love talking to me and do not think I would ever be able to vote for him, except at FTC! Wanna go super far with him, super super far!

Caeleb: Oh god I'm already realising the problem, which is that I love everyone. Caeleb I did not expect to get as close to, but he is so so fun to talk to! I'm really giving with him, and I think he is close to Benj too, so could be a good endgame person too. Will see on that one.

Jason: I love him! I for some reason convinced myself that he hated me during the swap, but I dont think... he does? he is SO smart and fun, I'd love to vote for him at an FTC. Ideally he needs to go before then, but I've lost Ian and Alex who were great shields so he acc probably needs to stick around.

Jones: Okay Jones is tough. Like... we stan becausee she is so much fun and I love talking to her. But talking game with her right now is tough because we have this weird poor communication and I'm conscious of not making empty promises when I want to see her go soon. I really like her on a personal, but I see either me voting her out or her voting me out.

Jules: what can I say except we stan. I talk to her and Benj the most by far, they are just consistently showing why we love them! I think they are such a threat, but I cant face the idea of voting them out eek! Wanna go super far with Jules because I LOVE THEM and they are a great friend and ally!

Julia: I messed up with Julia BAD. I should've told her about the Alex vote, I really think she would've been down, and it would've been so much better. Now she is upset and paranoid, and I feel so bad. I did her wrong and need to make it up to her, but I dont know if I will be able to eeek!

Mitch: he is so funny HDJDKDKD, like the way he talks is so funny. I've had a real rollercoaster relationship with him this season, but I could see some sort of alliance of me/Caeleb/Mitch/Benj coming together in the future! We will see ahh!

Mo: I've been quite harsh about Mo in confessionals this season but I feel like this vote gave him the kick he needs? Like he was playing it super safe and while it frustrates me seeing him say stuff like just keep me to F7 and such, he is, as always great to be around and a lotta fun!

Tom: Sleeping Beauty Tom. It's so funny to me that he stayed despite self-voting and sleeping. He is so much fun, I was determined to make up for our last game and I think I have ahh.

Summary is I wanna see Jones and Mo out next, then Mitch & Jason, then Julia leaving a F5 of Caeleb/ Me/ Benj/ Tom/ Jules? Thats the dream anyway ha!

Maybe I'm just paranoid but I feel like I've backstabbed/betrayed a good amount of people in this game and it's hard because sure they were moves that had to be made, but I hate being THAT PERSON. I don't know. Here's a confession Johnny, I'm trying but I'm bad at these.

So Mo said he was going to give me the reward tonight. He definitely doesn't talk to me as much and is much less excited and fun to talk to but I think I need to just accept that. The fact that he came up to me to tell me he's giving it to me, rather than me asking, makes me think he's telling the truth.

Plus I am being honest with him when I tell him that I don't want it to be him next. I hope he knows that.

Jones meanwhile has yet to say anything to me after last tribal. I finally messaged her last night, saying that I didn't mean anything towards her when I voted Alex. I hope she'll come around, but if not, then umm I kinda have no choice but to be wary of her and her idol and might have to do something about it. I don't want to though, I do wanna work with both her and Mo.

I actually think Julia is on my side. I can’t tell if she’s lying but she seemed upset because apparently no one talked to her about the plan to vote out Alex.

I'm bored at work. This tribal council is Odd as Hell. No one wants to throw out names, no one wants to seem too schemey, so everyone is just talking about being nervous and concerned. I honestly don't know who I want to go home because I think this vote is going to determine the course of this game post-Alex. I know I sure as hell don't want to come off as someone who is dictating the votes, so I'm trying to make it clear that I am willing to go with the flow with anyone who needs a vote rn.

I think there are people who have my back hopefully that will tell me if I need to be worried at least. Ali hopefully would, Tom *hopefully* would (but who knows hes sneaky), Mo was nice enough to give me the reward but um the Alex vote has changed him, I miss the old Mo. come back. Jones finally is talking to me again, but she's still trying to keep some secrets about the last couple of votes so I don't fully trust her. Benj hopefully would, but I was surprised he talks to Julia so much. Jason hopefully would, but now with Alex gone his game opens up tremendously. Julia would never tell me. Mitch wouldn't tell me unless it helped himself which I can't imagine happening. Jules probably wouldn't tell me because she's the easiest to convince into doing something no matter what Touchy Subjects said. She's literally flipped allegiances like every single vote ever. I hope I can survive tonight because I think this is going to be a pivotal vote and literally anyone can go home tonight (except Benj who has the sweet immunity).

HI um I think this game is broken? No one will say anything to anyone. Did I do this? Did I break this game? Or maybe we all did? Maybe Ali did maybe Jules did maybe Mitch did because us four are the middle people and we created an atmosphere where no one trusts anyone? or everyone trusts some people and none of that fits into a substantial person to vote?

I'm literally laughing rn. I am logging off. I am not going to focus on this game because literally every person just says "I don't want to throw a name out" "I haven't heard anything" "what have you heard" Like the gravity of this is crazy. This has gone on for HOURS. I don't know what to do so I am going to ignore my messages for like an hour and then reanalyze because Damn.

APPARENTLY NO ONES SAYING SHIT. But like part of me is like “Hm.... Yeah ok sure...” thinking it’s gonna be me. Because either everyone is lying to me or everyone’s genuinely confused.

Catching Up with Dan Cummins

Dan Cummins has a one hour Comedy Central special along with many other television appearances such as Conan, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Last Comic Standing and more. Those are hefty credits that yield some serious street cred. Credits that the majority of working stand up comics will never see in their lifetime. However, in the grand scheme of things, how much do these ultimately matter in the pursuit of your dreams? I got to chat with the hilarious and hardworking Dan Cummins about his lengthy career in comedy and his upcoming shows at Punch Line San Francisco. Ronn Vigh: We initially met in 2003 when we both competed in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition. That competition is considered a big milestone for up and coming comics. Do you remember anything significant about that week or period of time in your career? Dan Cummins: I remember the first night that the competition was in San Francisco pretty well. I’d never been in SF before but I knew about its comedic history. I felt so out of place and that I had so much to prove. I didn’t want to be seen as some hacky tavern comic from Spokane, Washington. I remember coming into the competition with a HUGE chip on my shoulder. RV: Wow. Well, I was a really green comic myself at the time but for what it’s worth, I remember you being really nice to me. So, how has your point of view or style of comedy evolved since then? DC: Life has changed so much for me since then. I was still a long ways from making a living as a comic back then. It was all still just a big, beautiful, chaotic experiment. Such a big gamble. Every show felt so important. Like my (hopefully future) career depended on it. Now, after having literally thousands of shows under my belt and after making a living in comedy for over 15 years, I’m a lot more at peace with it. I feel like I have less to prove and I think I’m funnier on stage because of that. Back then, I was a joke guy because I was too afraid to commit to a longer form story. I was too worried about bombing. Now, if I feel like it’s entertaining, I’ll tell a ten minute story. I also feel like I have a lot more to say now. I’ve lived a lot more life. I feel more confident in my opinions and perspective than I did in 2003 and confidence in what you’re saying is so important to good storytelling. I’d like to think I’ve come a long way since then and hopefully, I’ve also retained a decent amount of the childlike wonder for the world I had back when I was 26 years old. RV: I've known many comics who set a list of goals to accomplish by a certain time in their careers. Were you one of those guys? DC: I did make a lot of specific goals. Most of them early on. “Get on this late show, get this type of comedy special, sell this kind of [TV] show!” I’ve been lucky -- I’ve hit most of them (never could sell a show though). The last five to ten years my goals have gotten more artistic. I just want to get more skilled at doing whatever you would call my style of comedy, and reach more and more people who enjoy it, and have those people come out to shows so I can keep doing what I’ve devoted my life too. That’s really my only stand-up goal at this point. RV: I was a flight attendant and in that field they always say being a flight attendant is a lifestyle, not a career. I feel even more that way about stand up, especially for those who do the road so often like yourself. Did you ever have a "Why am I doing this? I should just quit now” moment? DC: I totally get that. Yes -- this life is a long ways from your average nine-to-five job. You’re living in hotels and working clubs and bars all over the world. I’ve thought about quitting many times. I thought about quitting after tough road gigs early on where I had driven eight plus hours to perform for less than 20 people who all seemed to hate me, and I didn’t make enough money to even pay for the gas it took to the make it to the gig. I thought about quitting when my Comedy Central hour special came out in 2010 and no one in America seemed to give a fuck about it enough to buy tickets. I was performing in Grand Rapids, Michigan a week after it aired in front of 30 people who’d never heard of me. I thought about quitting back in 2016 when my album was number one on the iTunes Comedy chart for several weeks in a row, I’d just killed it on The Tonight Show, and I was performing, again, in front of 30 or so people who had never heard of me (this time in Kansas City). I thought, “This is the BEST I can do and it still doesn’t matter!” I’d put out five albums of my best stuff at that point and it just didn’t seem to be getting me anywhere.

RV: The last time I saw you was a few years ago and you were thrilled about returning with your family to your home state of Idaho. Has this helped, hindered, or presented any unexpected challenges for you as a working comic? DC: Idaho has been really good to me. It’s a little harder to get places because of where I’m living but I’ no longer distracted by all the entertainment possibilities of Los Angeles. I’ve gone back to focusing more on stand-up than I was for a while. Also, a lot of exposure has come via Pandora and my podcast Timesuck. I’m actually selling the most tickets to shows of my career by far. I’m working the best clubs in the country and many of the shows are sold out. I never thought that would happen after moving back to Idaho. It’s been incredible! RV: Tell me more about your podcast. DC: Timesuck has been a wild ride! It’s a deep dive on one subject a week and episodes come out Monday at Noon, PST. Episodes can be about anything interesting: criminals, historical figures, cults, current events, social issues, conspiracies, cryptozoology, the paranormal, etc. You learn a lot about one subject a week (me and the team I now have research the hell out of this stuff) and you get to laugh while you learn. I work hard to add a lot of humor to the narratives. We also have an online community that has become pretty interesting as well. It’s grown out of people who are intensely curious about he world around them and willing to question their beliefs wanting to meet other people who feel the same way. Our private Facebook group has close to 10,000 members and many have become friends with one another. Romantic relationships have formed out of the group. There have been some engagements! RV: In early 2017, you were nice enough to give me a guest spot on your show in Arizona. In the green room you spoke passionately about Timesuck as it just started a few months prior. In what ways has the podcast evolved and exceeded your expectations? DC: The podcast has exceeded my expectations in every way. It has evolved into this interesting humanitarian group. Listeners send care packages to and raise money for other listeners in need. They send in emails saying listening to the show has strengthened relationships with their spouses, siblings, parents and more -- giving them inside jokes to share and subjects to talk about. This past week we had an email from someone who found the courage to leave an actual cult they’d been in for years after listening to various episodes about cults I’ve done (Jonestown, Heaven’s Gate, Scientology, Order of the Solar Temple, The Branch Davidians, etc) We’ve had listeners write and say that Timesuck literally saved their life -- that they were suicidal but then became hopeful towards humanity again listening to the podcast. I never expected any of that. Not in a million years. I’m so excited to see where it goes from here! And you can always have a guest spot. You’re a funny guy! RV: Thanks. That’s all I needed to hear. Interview is over. So, does anything you uncover in the podcast wind up working it's way into your stand up?

DC: That’s just started to happen! I told a random story about having a sexual experience with a banana in high school. Yup, a banana. Fans went nuts laughing about it and teasing me. So I decided to tell the whole story on stage (after fans brought bananas to some shows and people started showing up wearing banana shirts) and now it’s one of my favorite new standup pieces. It is RIDICULOUS! RV: Can you give us a sneak peek of what topic you will be covering when you do the podcast live from the Punch Line? DC: Yes! I’ll be telling the tale of the Ant Hill Kids. A French Canadian cult mainly based in Quebec between 1977 and 1989, led by a psychopath named Roch Theriault. He was BRUTAL. It’s amazing what cult members endured at his hands and still chose to follow him. It’s a fascinating study in manipulation and I tell some of the darkest jokes I’ve ever written during this tale. It’s not for the squeamish! RV: What is your most favorite and least favorite thing about San Francisco? DC: My favorite thing about San Francisco is how smart the crowds are. They want good, intelligent comedy. They don’t need to be spoon fed. My least favorite is that San Francisco crowds can be REALLY sensitive. Too sensitive. They can take the social justice warrior ethos -- which is great -- and become a little too serious for their own good. It’s a comedy show, not a protest. Lighten the fuck up and laugh. Life’s too short to be pissed all the time...and this is coming from a pretty angry comic! RV: Well said! It’s always great to see you back at the Punch Line!

DC: I’m looking forward to some Punch Line shows! I truly do love coming to San Francisco. I have so many great memories of shows there over the years.
