I already got too attached to tboy Iyozane to really commit to making it myself but I think tgirl FumiIyo would go hard. Like, thematically.

If nothing else I'm also attached to tgirl Fumikado so my FumiIyo is still t4t. I just think in the same way you could do a lot with Fumikado canonically trying to embody a male historical figure due to the expectations set upon her, you could also do a lot with the fact that Iyozane was the heir to a patriarchal power system and felt trapped in the life that resulted from that. Like most of that was the house arrest, but I imagine she would've been forced to comply with gendered expectations. I apply this to my tboy Iyozane headcanon but it works for all trans headcanons really so I think it'd be fun to see a trans femme take on it. And FumiIyo already have narrative parallels.

To round out the asks about Fumikado and Iyozane, thoughts about FumiIyo? To me, they're very interesting~

FumiIyo is definitely interesting! Two people, belonging to the enemy faction of the other, siding together against the world...

Following my theory on species classification, Fumikado sees themselves as they are. Someone who once was human, but no longer is. So when they see Iyozane, someone who stubbornly insists that they're still human, the feel pity.

And doubt. Iyozane still insists they're human because their humanity was forcibly taken away from them, but that didn't happen to Fumikado, right? They willingly gave away their humanity, right?

But, well, they have each other. Two lonely people forsaken by the world, to the point where they've lost their humanity, ironically making them more human.

It's about time the world knows who they are, isn't it?

“Well it looks like we’re done with work for today.” Iyozane said, it had been a rather busy day at Fumikado’s office. 

“Augh, finally! Who knew running for office would take so much work anyways?” Fumikado said with a rather dramatic tone.

“What’d ya think you were getting into anyways?” Tsugumi sarcastically replied.

“I didn’t think it’d take this much paperwork.” Fumikado said.

“Why don’t we do something fun then?” Iyozane suggested, “It is a bit late but I’m sure we can think of something.”

“Hmm, maybe go to that restaurant downtown?” Fumikado suggested.

“I donno, I’m not really hungry.” Tsugumi said, “Unless you two are?”

“Mm, no I’m not actually hungry now that I think about it.” Fumikado replied.

“Wait, if you’re not hungry then why did you even suggest it?” Iyozane asked. “Oh whatever, what about a movie or something? I don’t know what they have at the theater but I’m sure they’ll have something interesting playing.”

“I don’t see why not.” Tsugumi said.

“Well it’s settled then, we're going to the movies!” Fumikado said cheerfully.

They were in the theater lobby looking at the list of movies they were going to play, there weren’t many movies playing at this hour of night, however.

“Hmm, what do you think about ‘Horror of the BatWolf’?” Iyozane asked. 

“It’s probably some old cheesy horror movie, I mean it has horror in that name!” Fumikado said.

“Well no duh it’s a horror movie, but it’s probably better than whatever ‘Spacetime Shenanigans’ is.” Tsugumi said, “Actually look at the time on that it looks like it's five hours long? How do you even make a movie that long?”

“Oh damn you’re right. Well, I guess you never know what’ll happen when it comes to movies.” Iyozane said.

“Guys the batwolf movie starts in like ten minutes, let's get our tickets already!” Fumikado urged them to get a move on. 

It didn’t take long for the movie to start playing once they got to their seats, there weren’t many people there as to be expected for a movie playing this late. Even though they were cutting it close already they did want to get some popcorn before the movie started. Iyozane was tasked with being the popcorn holder as they had sat in between Fumikado and Tsugumi. The movie finally began, and it certainly wasn’t what they expected. The first half of the movie was your run of the mill monster movie, there was a werewolf and a vampire tormenting the cast of run of the mill horror movie teens. But the second half of the movie is where things got interesting, the one remaining teen started to have some sort of romantic tension between both the werewolf and the vampire at different points in the movie. 

“What the hell is going on?” Fumikado whispered to Iyozane.

“Honestly, I have no idea.” Iyozane chuckled. Tsugumi had taken the bag of popcorn at this point and wasn’t sharing any of it but the other two either didn’t notice or were so engrossed in the movie that they didn’t care.

At the end of the movie right as it seemed like the protagonist was going to have to decide between the werewolf and the vampire it’s revealed that the two monsters were actually one in the same! Who could have guessed this twist?

“What ‘n tarnation is going on in this movie?” Tsugumi said bewilderedly.

“They were the same person-monster-thing the whole time??” Fumikado said sharing the same sentiment as Tsugumi.

“Why did they get together anyways?” Iyozane asked the only reasonable question at this point.

The three of them left the theater way more confused than they could have anticipated. Fumikado and Iyozane looked at each other and just started laughing at the absurdity of the movie they’d just watched.

“I mean, hehe, if you wanted, keheheh, I could be your bat-wolf-monster thing.” Fumikado said.

“No...” Tsugumi didn’t like where this was heading.

“Oh sure, eheh, as long as you-” Iyozane was cut off.

“Oh, no no no, I am not dealin’ with you two.” Tsugumi said before they left.

The two of them weren’t really sure what to say next. 

Fumikado was the first to speak up, “So uhh, you wanna go to my place or..?”

“Sure, you know I’d love to.” 

“Great!” The two of them left after that and continued the night at Fumikado’s house.

You know I don't see any effort in the tags to tie them but they keep tying every time I look at this again. Hope they don't tie though because it looks like Yukari is winning the other poll with a Len'en and I really don't want the Len'en vote split. But if it happens it happens.

Tbh it would be very in-character for that to happen to FumiIyo. Make it more in-character by making them fight a one-sided battle against Kuroji. But you know, they could actually win that here. They can win that in canon too but it doesn't clear their debt.

Look, I headcanon Iyozane as trans male, and no matter what, my Iyozane is going to stay trans male because of favorite character projection bias.

But,

I really need a trans sapphic to get into Len'en, get her hands on FumiIyo, and make them trans sapphic, because let's be real, there is a lot you can unpack with these two by making them trans femme.

That was remarkably stupid, even by Fumikado's record. Iyozane watched in horror as the oil recoiled across the entire room. Luckily, they were both able to dodge it, and Iyozane was quickly able to contain the explosion with a lid.

"Why would you dump ice into oil?!" Iyozane yelled.

"I thought it'd cool down faster!"

Iyozane sighed. Surely even their past self, as ignorant about the kitchen as they were would've never made this mistake. (It helped that they used to be terrified to cook with oil.) "You can't force oil to cool down faster. You have to set it aside and wait."

"But I don't wanna sit in the kitchen all day," Fumikado pouted.

"You don't have to. As long as it's away from the heat, it should be good to leave alone for a while."

"...Well, at least I got a new spell card idea."

Iyozane couldn't help but laugh. "Aren't you getting the wrong lesson out of this?"

"I just think it'd be cool, okay?"

"Whatever you say."

They have some interesting parallels, in that they were both set on the path to becoming an emperor, only for that not to really work out. In Iyozane's case, they were stuck under house arrest until they were euthanized by Mitori. In Fumikado's case, their plans to become Masakado's Vessel and then the Emperor are constantly failing to the point where they should just give up.

I think sometimes it feels like Iyozane is actually somewhat amused by Fumikado's dumbassery. Of course, they're annoyed more often than not, but at a certain point, there's just nothing you can do but enjoy the failboss before you.

This pairing is funny because their dynamic is fundamentally that of a boss and their middle manager trying their best to keep their business afloat despite the ever-accumulating credit card debt. There's not many songs you can project onto that unfortunately.

Now for some stuff about them falling in love with each other.

Iyozane => Fumikado

Always kinda thought they were hot from the moment they met. Kinda hates themself for it now but every time Fumikado does something mildly cool they find themself enamored with them all over again.

Fumikado => Iyozane

Too focused on their goals to really think about how they feel about Iyozane, but eventually all of those stray thoughts of"Wow they're pretty" "I really like it when they compliment me" are gonna come crashing into them.
