Pleasing Scent Samples
Hello, friends! I ordered the Big Lip balm from Pleasing and with it came a fun surprise.
I already gave my initial impressions to @twopoppies as soon as I opened the package. It’s been a couple hours or so now so the scents have dried down on my skin and I can take a second smell to let you know my thoughts.
Full disclosure, I don’t think I have a very sophisticated nose 😂 But I’ll try my best to describe as accurately as possible. That said, I’m sure I’ll miss the actual notes and ingredients so consider this the most unprofessional review you could get from someone that just really loves perfumes and doesn’t mind being totally honest for better or for worse.
RIVULETS
Pepper, pine, and powder with floral come through. It reminds me so much of Gucci Memoire but slightly lighter. These are the notes from Fragrantica and I swear Rivulets is very much this but slightly cooler.
It also reminds me of Diptyque’s Figuier scent too. Overall very woody and clean!
Unfortunately it just won’t stay on my skin. I tried it on my wrist and the back of my arm but it only lasts about 10mins or so and then vanishes. ☹️ I really do love it (I was also a fan of Memoire) but if I took the risk of buying it, I know I’d have to put some Vaseline or something else on first to hopefully help the scent last longer.
Bright, Hot
Delicious! Cinnamon, Vanilla, Fruity! It reminds me of bourbon with some sweet tanginess. Or maybe Peach Schnapps! Like it has the spiciness from alcohol but I swear it makes my mouth water like after biting into a ripe peach. This is what I wanted Tom Ford’s Bitter Peach to smell like but Ford’s is just too musky and overpowering for me. I’ll 100% be purchasing Bright, Hot though! It’s so much more pleasant and light. The fruity notes come through with this more vs the musk. And it STAYED on my skin. I’m so obsessed with it, I want it in as a perfume and candle (Harold, please 🙏🏽).
Here are the notes from Bitter Peach to get an idea of what I mean:
Closeness
Oh, she’s SEXY 😮💨
I told @twopoppies it smells like spice, pink fruity bubblegum and a pink bubble bath! I also get rose. Pink, pink, pink. They chose the sample card well.
This one is the heaviest scent, almost like oud with it’s dark muskiness. But that sweet floral scent just makes it completely intoxicating. I couldn’t stop smelling myself after putting it on, it also had the strongest lasting power on my skin.
If this is the scent people are describing a “vaporub and sex” I don’t disagree but I don’t think the description necessarily does it justice. 😂 All the scents are definitely meant to be unisex so they all have a powdery, spiciness to them. But this one is just so alluring and HOT. It gives me sweat, heat and sweet playfulness.
The closest thing I could compare it to in my own collection of perfumes was Clean Reserve’s Sparkling Sugar.
But switch the Fruity and Musky amounts. Closeness is like this scent’s naughty sister. 🖤
And there you have it! As I said, I’m not a professional perfume reviewer by any means (clearly 🤣) but I hope this gives everyone some idea of what they can expect! And of course if anyone else got the samples and would like to add (or tell me I’m completely off the mark, haha) please do.
Overall I genuinely loved each scent and think there’s something for everybody here. My favorite compliment is when someone tells me I smell good so I’m really particular about what I wear but I can honestly say I’d wear all of these happily. I lean more towards Bright, Hot for my personal preference but Rivulets smells great for an everyday scent where Closeness would be perfect for a date night out. The quality also seems to be great so if you do plan to purchase like I am, I don’t think we’ll be disappointed with the product.
If anyone has anymore questions, I’m totally happy to answer. 🩵🧡🖤

Here Are Some Insanely Good Graphic Novels You Should Definitely Check Out
1. A Guest in the House, by Emily Carroll:
Summary: In this graphic novel by Emily Carroll, a young woman marries a kind dentist only to discover a dark mystery surrounding his former wife’s death.
After many lonely years, Abby’s just gotten married. She met her new husband―a recently widowed dentist―when he arrived in town with his young daughter seeking a new start. Although it’s strange living in the shadow of her predecessor, Abby does her best to be a good wife and mother. But the more she learns about her new husband’s first wife, the more things don’t add up, and Abby starts to wonder...was Sheila’s death really by natural causes? As Abby sinks deeper into confusion, Sheila’s memory seems to become a force all its own, ensnaring Abby in a mystery that leaves her obsessed, fascinated, and desperately in love for the first time in her life.
Rating: ★★★★½
Thoughts: It's been a while since I've been this invested in a graphic novel. This novel gripped my attention, and pulled me in from the jump. The twists, the turns, the constant unease, and the way it left me questioning everything I thought I knew... I was itching to read more and could barely put it down. It's visual fairy telling and contrast between the Dreamworld, and the real world is truly striking. And while the ending left me slightly perturbed, it was still mesmerizing.
2. When I Arrived at the Castle, by Emily Carroll:
Summary: A castle, a killer, and prey all bound and blurred by lust and blood." Like many before her that have never come back, she's made it to the Countess' castle determined to snuff out the horror, but she could never be prepared for what hides within its turrets; what unfurls under its fluttering flags. Emily Carroll has fashioned a rich gothic horror charged with eroticism that doesn't just make your skin crawl, it crawls into it.
Rating: ★★★★
Thoughts: A jaw dropping tour through a vampires castle, where everything is dripping with rich mystery and nothing's quite as it seems... In this gothic story filled to the brim with erotism and lust, culpable violence is the thread that pulls these two together.
3. Isle of 100,000 Graves, by Fabien Vehlmann and Jason:
Summary: A treasure map leads to an island with a terrible secret in Jason’s new graphic novel. Five years ago, little Gwenny’s father found, inside a bottle, a map with instructions on how to reach the mysterious Isle of 100,000 Graves and its legendary treasures ― and then he vanished. Now Gwenny, having stumbled across another bottle-shipped map, enlists the dubious help of a shipful of pirates, sets out to find the island, and her long-lost dad.Little does she realize that the Isle comes by its ominous name honestly, as the location of a secret school for executioners and torturers, where apple-cheeked youngsters are taught the finer points of extracting information from prisoners… and then putting an end to their lives in a wide variety of gruesome ways. And they’ve reached the point in their studies where theory should ideally give way to practice, so an influx of uninvited visitors comes as a blessing to the faculty. And yes, this story is a comedy. Albeit a dark one.
Rating: ★★★½
Thoughts: The concept of an island full of a secret medieval executioner society, is admittedly hilarious. I thought the ending was strange, a little unfulfilling, but it was one that I appreciate more as time passes. I wish we got some more answers to clarify certain things and events though. Specifically when it comes to the secret our pirate guide holds. I kept thinking: "Are they really going to blue ball me like this?!" (Note: Google straight up removed my review because I used the term: "blue balled.") 🤣
4. Funny Creek, by Rafael Scavone:
Summary: Lilly is a smart girl in the 1980’s who (quite literally) falls into her favorite cartoon: The Funny Creek Show. But this joyful experience will soon become dramatic when her cartoon hero, the Sheriff Clumsy, shows himself in a darker light than she expected.
Rating: ★★★½
Thoughts: I liked the plucky art style, it strongly reminded me of Gravity Falls. The colors were vibrant and the town was lively. The main character likes to think of herself as someone kind and righteous. She's obsessed with a show about a sheriff clown named: Clumsy. A heroic and goofy protagonist that spends his days protecting the residents of Funny Creek.
But Clumsy isn't actually all that heroic as it turns out... And Lilly's world is shattered. How will she get back home? And can she free the townfolk from the tyrant?
While I enjoyed this comic run, I couldn't help but wish the ending was explored in depth and I wished some things were explained more thoroughly. Some questions were answered, and some threads were left dangling. I enjoyed the parallels between Lilly and Clumsy and how heroes aren't all they seem. Lilly is angry to find out her hero is a cowardly snake, and she has to come to terms with her own shortcomings in the process.
5. Stray Dogs, by Tony Fleecs:
Summary: It's scary being the new dog.In this suspenseful new series, readers meet Sophie, a dog who can't remember what happened. She doesn't know how she ended up in this house. She doesn't recognize any of these other dogs. She knows something terrible happened but she just... can't... recall... Wait! Where's her lady? It's all coming back to her now, and it's enough to raise Sophie's hackles. Now Sophie has to figure out where she is, what's happening and how she's going to survive this. They say there's no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners. STRAY DOGS is a heartbreakingly adorable suspense thriller by My Little Pony comic artists TONY FLEECS and TRISH FORSTNER. It's Lady and the Tramp meets Silence of the Lambs.
Rating: ★★★½
Thoughts: Stray Dogs, written by Tony Fleecs and illustrated by Trish Forstner, follows a group of canine friends that wouldn't be out of place in a G -RATED movie. But instead of discovering the power of friendship, they use their limited detective skills to uncover that their new owner, is in fact, a serial killer. Stray dogs, is a strange mix of a cute Disney movie, meets "Silence of the Lambs." The overarching mystery pulled me in instantly, and the hits kept coming...
(I felt similarly about this ending, as I did, with Funny Creek's. And I'll definitely reread it again sometime.)

Exactly! Z will have her first opportunity leading a movie and showing if she can bring people to the theaters when Challengers come out. It’s scary but if you want to be a mega superstar, you need to do it. Timmy, despite his experience, is proving himself too later this year with “Wonka”. He has been in a lot of ensamble films and Z has been second billed in Spider-Man and Dune but having people going to the movies for them? They all have to prove themselves yet. Denis is right, though. If there’s anyone that has the potential to do it, it’s them.
That’s why I actually expect Z to go FULL ON promoting Challengers when it comes out. Hot Wings, Buzzfeed Puppies, all!!! It’s all in.
Ohhhhh my goshhhhh... I would LOVE for Z to do a Buzzfeed Puppy interview!!! 😁😁😁
Those puppy interviews are my favorite lol. 😍
But yea, Timmy will have a big shot to see if ppl flock to theaters to see him in "Wonka" for sure! 👍🏾
To me, Dune is a Timmy-led film. It's a all-star cast, but to me, HE'S the lead. The story focuses on him. Everyone else is supporting imo.
But some might say that Dune only made a lot of money because it was an all-star cast. Well, we'll see for sure with "Wonka" lol. 😅
I think I'll know more when I see the reaction when the trailer comes out. I don't think the trailer has even come out yet. 🤔
With that said, I think Z has actually been SMART in doing a lot of low-key supporting roles in BIG major films, while being able to quietly hone her acting skills on Euphoria.
She didn't take too much on too early and too soon. But she's been able to ride the coattails of great films that are huge (like Spiderman, Dune, TGS, etc) and it has allowed her to get her name and face out there, WITHOUT all of the pressure of being "lead".
When you are the lead actor in a film, the film (and box office!) is basically ALL on your shoulders. It is a LOT of pressure...especially if you're not used to leading a film before. 🥴 If the film FLOPS or gets horrible reviews, most ppl are likely to blame YOU and not your costars lol 😆 🤣
So yea, imo she's been very smart and meticulous about how she goes about her career, and I love it! 😃👏🏾

Let your S(e)oul take you where you long to be - pt 1
a.k.a. finally writing my phantom korea travelogue
Watching Phantom in Korea has been this big goal of mine since December 2012.
When I saw the vast spread of Phantom merchandise at the Blue Square theatre and how they decked the theatre with a Phantom tree and had all sorts of Phantom-themed food, it became crystal clear that Korea goes hard for Phantom like no other, and I wanted to be part of that action.
I planned to visit Seoul when the World Tour revival was slated to visit in 2020, but that one got axed and squashed as a pandemic would do to hopes and dreams.
Cut to October 2021, news of a new Korean production got out around, but I was pessimistic. The borders were still closed and who knew for how much longer. Even as they started reopening toward 2022, there was a quarantine / covid-19 test requirement upon arrival. Then our local Korean embassy started taking a hardhanded stance on applications that made it difficult for visas to be issued. Add to that, the fact that the embassy have limited slots every month.
The odds were wildly stacked against me, but travel restrictions eased up and nothing serves as a better motivator than watching people you know actually go to the place.
Months of mental prep, doing things for the first time, and many expenditures later, I was deemed worthy of a visa. The next step was a ticket to the show…which was an entirely different main quest on its own.
Buying show tickets in Korea is like a national sport
I witnessed this during the first waves of Phantom Seoul tickets sale. The moment the dates open, you would find most of the tickets are already gone. So you are left to buy what's left but even when you manage to click on one, another person is likely completing their purchase ahead of you.
I did manage to snag a Jeon Dong-seok ticket. But the Cho Seung-woo one, I didn't manage to get until a month later.
I have to pause and thank @fadinglandtragedy for actually answering my questions, providing valuable tips, and encouraging me when I myself have given up lol.
The beauty of tickets in Korea is you can actually cancel and if you are early, you can get your money back with minimal processing fee. That means cancellations peek now and then when the ticket vendors refresh their systems everyday. I was able to move to a better row for my JDS show, and I eventually managed to buy my CSW ticket (that no one fought me for 😭😭😭😭😭).
But it took extreme patience, nightly refreshes, and trying not to nod asleep. It was worth it in the end.
So I only had to find a decent airfare, accommodations, and wake up insanely early to catch the flight, and print out all the things to prove to the immigration officer that I'm not pulling a Valjean on his Javert. 🥲🥲🥲
Tip: Overseas fans can buy through Yes24 and Global Interpark, but I highly recommend Yes24 for the exclusive ticket sleeves and the fact that they have a mobile app that you can use to book, stalk last-minute tickets, and eventually claim them.
Tip 2: For faster purchase using Yes24, look into loading your cc info in Paypal so you'd just be one click away to everything. For some reason I found the native cc method a bit harder to deal with (and it charged me more for some reason).
Korea things and hopefully an actual review to follow!

After seeing that one picture of the knight snuggled in bed with a drink and pizza, I just knew I had to draw Solaire like that. 🤣 Especially when he's starting to feel discouraged... Put him in his happy, sun-themed place. ☀️💕 Solaire would totally love Hawaiian pizza because he seems the type. lol

Someone tell me right the f*ck now what was the point of 15x17???
Of having Chuck state that Cas was the only being capable of breaking free of his control. What was the point of having thee representation of mankind, Adam, end up with an Angel. As it turns out it isn’t Adam and Eve. What was the point of having Dean be the one to meet Adam and Serafina? Why is her name a direct reference to a seraph? Ya know, what Cas is. Why the line about the angel being the only one that could put up with him for all those years?! What was the point of Dean constantly looking to Cas while listening to Sam trying to stop him because who they love will die? WHAT WAS THE POINT?!? In the 3rd to last episode!
It’s too much. I need to lie down.

I just want to say to ALL of the Supernatural fandom. This means war. lol jk jk but I don’t think this split between basically hellers and j*1 fans is ever going to be resolved cause homophobic people aren’t going to accept Cas or who he loves no matter what. There’s a homophobe in every family right? When I see a j*fan say something that isn’t homophobic or calling him out on what he said or being proud of Cas being not straight then I’ll gladly edit my stance on this but it hasn’t happened once.
Queer love is love not just sex. It’s not perverted. It’s not deviant. It’s not shameful. It’s not taboo. It’s definitely not akin to incest or bestiality. Queer love is romantic and beautiful. It’s stronger than Straight love cause you have to shoulder the hatred from others that comes with it but still love anyway. (Please know my use of “queer” is in no way meant as deragatory and only meant as being not hetero because we don’t know what Cas identifies as other than not straight) Cas is canonically in romantic love with Dean Winchester. Nothing anyone says or does will ever change that. If you have an issue with that maybe you should admit to yourself you might just be homo/biphobic and need to do better.
I’ll just say that.

They really gave us an angel named “Shield of God”
Then told us Dean was the Sword.
Then had Dean randomly remove the “of God” as his nickname.
Then have them go on to fight against god’s narrative together for a decade.
And we were supposed to be normal about it?? Really? Like that wasn’t poetic af. They wrote this, we just watched it.
