(CNN) — Sky-gazers around the world were able to glimpse a partial lunar eclipse while September’s full harvest moon shone brightly Tuesday night.
The moon peaked at its fullest at 10:35 p.m. ET Tuesday but will appear full through Thursday morning, according to NASA.
If you viewed the moon on Tuesday evening for about an hour, it also appeared as if a bite has been taken out of it due to a partial lunar eclipse.
A partial lunar eclipse occurs when Earth moves between the sun and the full moon without being perfectly aligned.
The celestial event appeared over Europe and much of Asia, Africa, North America, and South America.
The moon entered Earth’s full shadow at 10:13 p.m. ET and exited it at 11:16 p.m. ET.
The peak of the eclipse was expected to occur at 10:44 p.m. ET, according to NASA.
During a total lunar eclipse, Earth’s shadow can turn the moon’s surface a striking red color, which is known as a blood moon, according to NASA.
But that won’t be the case this week, experts say.
“The eclipse (Tuesday) will not be a total lunar eclipse, so the moon won’t appear red, instead a portion of the moon will darken,” said Noah Petro, NASA project scientist for both the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and Artemis III.
“If you didn’t know it were happening or even look at the moon it might not be noticeable.
But the keen observer may notice the ‘top right’ corner of the moon darker than the rest of the moon,” he said via email.
“This is the part that is completely in(Earth’s) shadow, though not a large portion of the moon will be in darkness.
But if its clear out I encourage folks to go out and look, it’s always worthwhile to look at the moon!”
September’s full moon is also considered the second of four consecutive supermoons expected in 2024, according to NASA.
Definitions of a supermoon can vary, but the term generally denotes a full moon that is closer to Earth than normal and thus appears larger and brighter in the night sky.
Some astronomers say the phenomenon occurs when the moon is within 90% of perigee — its closest approach to Earth in orbit.
While the typical distance between Earth and the moon is an average of 238,900 miles (384,472 kilometers), September’s full moon was expected to be just 222,637 miles (358,300 kilometers) away, according to NASA.
And keep an eye out for Saturn, which will look like a bright dot close to the full moon.
Naming The Moon
The name harvest moon is a nod to the season because the event happens close to the beginning of fall, or the autumnal equinox, which occurs on September 22.
Many people associate the harvest moon with being orange in color as it begins to rise, but the same could be said of all full moons.
The hue is due to the greater thickness of Earth’s atmosphere near the horizon, according to EarthSky.
Typically, this time of year is when many summer-planted crops peak in the Northern Hemisphere, and the bright moon once helped farmers work into the evening to harvest their bounty ahead of the first frost, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac.
Other monikers for September’s full moon — as used across various indigenous tribes — include the “moon of full harvest” from the Hopi people, the “corn maker moon” from the Abenaki tribe, the “moon of the brown leaves” from the Lakota people and “autumn moon” from the Passamaquoddy tribe.
European names for the moon also honor the fall harvest, including the “fruit moon,” a nod to the fruits that ripen as summer ends, and the “barley moon” to mark when the crop is collected from the fields, according to NASA.
Other harvest-celebrating traditions around this time include the Korean festival of Chuseok and the Chinese Mooncake Festival, both of which also celebrate family and the remembrance of ancestors.
Upcoming Celestial Events
The next full moon, the hunter’s moon occurring on October 17, will also be a supermoon and the closest of the year at 222,095 miles (357,428 kilometers) away.
The beaver moon will occur on November 15, and the final full moon of the year will be the cold moon on December 15.
Meanwhile, sky-gazers can anticipate a busy meteor shower season to close out 2024.
Here are peak dates for upcoming celestial activity, according to the American Meteor Society:
Draconids: October 7-8
Orionids: October 20-21
Southern Taurids: November 4-5
Northern Taurids: November 11-12
Leonids: November 17-18
Geminids: December 13-14
Ursids: December 21-22

Tonight is The Full Harvest Moon. It is called the Harvest Moon because in September crops that were seeded in Spring are now ready to be harvested. It is the final harvest of the year so crops, fruit and grain would be stored to last through the winter months. The Harvest Moon is very bright, probably the biggest and brightest Moon of the year.
Tonight's Full Moon is in the sign of Aries. This will be a fiery Full Moon deep with raw emotions. Your sensitivity will be heightened. You may have to move away from loud noise, crowds and negative people. Try to be around nature tonight it will be very healing and nurturing to you. It is ok to cry a little and let yourself feel all those pent up feelings we hold deep down inside us, let them out and wipe the slate clean in your heart. Aries is a fire element therefore emotions and feelings are strong now. Be kind and gentle with yourself as you may be feeling ultra sensitive at the minute, you may have trouble sleeping and when you do sleep may have wild and vivid dreams, but don't worry this will soon pass.
This Aries Full Moon is here to burn away what holds you back, to accept that healing is needed and necessary, Sometimes you have got to be brave and open an old wound in order to rip out what is holding you to the past and making you unhappy and allow the wound to heal. There is something sacred about this painful process, it is something no one can help you with, it is something only you can do, but it is necessary if you wish to heal and move forward. put trust in the universe that what comes is for our benefit.
This is a time of transformation, the earth is going through a major shift at the moment as it heads into Autumn. We are also going through a major change in our lives as the earths energy project themselves onto us. We can use this energy of transformation to become and be what we feel we need to be in order to move on and be happy. Aries will make us feel a little braver and stronger, we may find that we have the courage to do things we were afraid to do in the past. Open yourself up tonight to the magical forces all around you. Don’t be limited by the five senses or the ‘how's’ and ‘when's.’ Instead, believe in yourself and live from a place of magic and miracles.
The Harvest Moon is a time to reap what we have sown and cultivated this last year. Our own personal harvest is the culmination of our efforts to manifest a deeper and fuller life for ourselves. Name what you have harvested over the past year and bless it and yourself for the good work you have done.
This Full Moon let your emotions flow, get rid of past hurts, cry, scream or shout if you need to but let it out, allow yourself to heal. Let the fires of Aries cleanse you. After tonight's emotional Full Moon when you wake to an Autumn Sun you will feel like a new person, full of vigour and energy.
Have a blessed Full Moon, may the Goddess watch over you.

🌽Full corn harvest moon in Aries, September 29th 2023, 11:58:21
The full corn harvest moon marks a time of completion, release, closure, transitioning and transformation. It's a good time for rounding up large projects you've been working on earlier this year.
The full moon being in the fiery sign of Aries can heighten emotions and the need to release these emotions. At the same time the moon being in Aries, which focusses on self-improvement and ones own needs, opposes the sun in Libra, which focusses on relations. This urges us to reflect on our own role in our relationships and to achieve compromise through negotiations, to meet both our own and others needs and find balance in relationships and the confrontation of lingering issues. The full moon in Aries signifies a time for renewed action and the release of stagnant energy that has been holding you back. Aries will influence the energy of the full moon, giving you enthusiasm, courage and determination to take action and tackle challenges.
Aries being focused on self-improvement also opens up new horizons and the possibility to find further insight in your life's mission and soul's purpose and take steps to pursue this.
At the same time it's important to not give in too much to Aries impulsive energy and instead of acting before thinking try to slow down a bit, take things step by step and think before acting, while practicing some self-control of emotions. Although initially experiencing feelings of being stuck or feeling uninspired, the full moon in Aries calls for change and encourages assertiveness. Through focusing on self-improvement, experiencing heightened self-esteem and learning from past mistakes this time is a time of healing and a time of taking steps and action to grow and build towards a better future. 🌙
" You're poised to make significant strides this lunation"

🌊🔥○ ✨️Full Moon Pisces ✨️○🔥🌊
Burning away debris with the flame in the heart. Washing away pain from old lessons learned, past trauma & heartache. ✨️🌊
Tuning into my emotional flow. Turning towards the feelings to face them, feel them and transmute instead of running or escaping. 🌊🌊✨️
Feeling emotions and nourishing yourself in the face of them is like an etheric wave flowing through and pushing out stagnant toxic energy stored in the body.
Clearing the way in the heart space for higher vibrational love, awareness and clairvoyant light. ✨️
This nourishing, healing light in my heart cracks open the darkness of the subconscious - sending beams of fractalled light out from my body and into the ether. ✨️💎
It grows and glows and i enter bliss. ✨️ I can see in the dark depths of my own underworld. I swim around in this light and explore the depths of my soul. I transmute the energy with loving understanding, acceptance and comittment to positive change. I hold a shield of unconditional love and detachment around my field. A ring of fire in divine protection. 🔥✨️
This is how we radiate when we are free. When we choose to save ourselves instead of waiting for an external figure to save us. ✨️💎
I burn and shine in my own light and reverance. Everytime i cut attachments to codependence and toxicity, i reclaim more of my power. My own unique and true essence blossoms and unfolds into the cosmos - in eternal bloom. 🪷✨️

Marrying Carter in Harvest Moon DS Cute! (North American version)
oh… sorry no not the archaeologist, i mean Pastor Carter from Mineral Town!
(or is it Pastor Curdy….?)
teeechnically his descendant, and it causes a game over… but this is the only time we’ve been able to marry him right?
so in the girl version of HMDS, there’s two “secret” Mineral Town bachelors that you can marry by talking to them enough times on the phone. one is Mason, the guy who runs May’s Tailoring… but the second, Pastor Carter, is a bit more obscure…
i couldn’t find them uploaded anywhere so here are his 2nd* thru 10th conversations+his proposal+proposal rejection in english! if you want to see it on youtube instead here you go
*i failed to record the first conversation when it happened, and there’s no way in hell i’m resetting my whole game again (…yet), so…just know the first one was like “oh you want to talk? what should we talk about…….. …… ….. …. i can’t think of anything. well see ya………” extremely riveting stuff
he’s so obscure that i didn’t even realize that he was a bachelor until i found out about the mechanic from this japanese wiki!! (here’s an archive link to the page on him in case the page doesn’t work) all i did was test whether it worked in english since i couldn’t find any english info at all mentioning it. i’m sure others have found him… right……..
in case the links above don’t work, a small guide to holy matrimony below the cut since i can’t find one in english
it works essentially the same as the Mason marriage (so it’s just a game over, sadly…), and the steps are pretty tedious and counterintuitive, so you’re unlikely to just stumble across it… but you too can get a priest to break his vow of celibacy for you or whatever!
you will need:
at least 2,050,000 G
20 cursed tools/accessories
if you really don’t want to dig up 20 cursed things you can substitute 100x “remove a cursed tool/accessory” for blessing a cursed tool…
but, including all the cursed tools and accessories, there’s only 16… which means you will need to go dig up 4 duplicate cursed accessories using this method! yay!!! extremely pointless since you can’t sell blessed accessories until after marriage in DS for girl (at which point you can’t trigger pastor carter’s proposal)
you unlock a conversation with cardi when you spend at least 205,000 G. which means the quickest thing to do is to order removal of a cursed item five times, then bless 2 cursed items.
**be careful when blessing accessories to only equip one at a time!!! if you equip a stack of duplicate accessories, blessing that stack destroys the duplicates!!!! :( so just take 1 out of the stack and equip it!!!**
you also can’t unlock more conversations until you’ve seen the one you unlocked, so like even if you spend a million G you’ll just unlock one conversation, and you’ll need to finish that conversation and then spend 205,000 G to unlock the next one…yeah….
on the tenth conversation he abruptly reveals that he’s fallen in love with you and asks you to marry him! it ends your game, but….! on the bright side, it ends your game!!! you’re finally free from Hell Simulator!!!!
#my art#why is his name localized as CURDY…..#i was making fun of it being cardi in the japanese version but……. CURDY#bokumono#harvest moon#story of seasons#harvest moon ds#harvest moon ds:cute#harvest moon ds cute#hmds#hmds cute#pastor carter#now everyone knows i always name my farm ram ranch. shameful#ladies……. he’s broke and possibly an alcoholic….(can we save him?)#the proposal really comes out of nowhere lmao#i’m sorry i’m still not over this his name is CURDY…… aaaaaaaagh#pastor carter is such a funky little guy to me. i have him in my acnh town he has a basement full of flame machines and a single wheelchair#why did the video crop like that when i appended the recordings together. i’m getting so old#sorry for the excessive babygirlism my tablet works again and i went a little ham#of course marrying a man of god causes the game to end. since the programming language for hmds is ancient evil curses#heh….. hex code
