for no reason in particular, i am once again saying that even if the work you're doing is with a content creator you love and on a project you're all passionate about and you trust everyone involved and they would never, say, ghost everyone involved for months leaving you in legal limbo in regards to the ip you've spent the past three years of your life on while everyone is clamoring for a statement or any guidance at all from you...

Okay. Fellas. Real talk. I've seen some of you do it and I thank you profusely for doing so but can yall PLEASE credit the original artist of that piece yall kinda made into an a dtiys/art meme? That's not official art. I am point blank refusing to engage with any of these pieces that I see not doing such. (Even when it pains me to keep scrolling, because some of them are really good!! And I want them here!!! But I do have some rules for myself I try to stand firm by with this blog.)

Like you can literally see them say right there that it's fine IF YOU CREDIT. I'm fucking begging you.

I'm not mad at anyone who didn't know but I've seen SO MANY versions at this point, and I think I've seen maybe 3 or 4 of them RECENTLY include the credit. (And one with improper credit, I think?) Please. Please just. Tack it on.

even aside from all the current residuals&streaming availability fuckery, I was looking at  978-0786847655 one of the Disney Fairies books with some lovely illustrations and the artists listed are

That’s nothing. That’s less than nothing. I want names and proper credits. SO many books are published by the mouse with only this catch all name listed for worlds of work. What if I want to track down the artists and support their individual work? Do you keep them in a cave and not let them see the sun? Or do you just not believe in proper crediting.

‘oh but there was probably a contract and they were surely paid’ yeah and ???? paid how much what about residuals are the artists even allowed to put these books on their work history since without their name credited anywhere. The contract or job listing or internship clause or whatever tactic disney uses to get away with this is scummy while sure this type of thing should be low on the list of priorities on how to de-shitify the world, it should be on the list.

yes some of the artists who have worked on the franchise are listed on the artofdisneyfairies tumblr, but that’s a fan account and it’s incomplete. A book should have full proper credits in it

The corporation may own the art but they didn’t make it and they shouldn’t hide who did the work as neither artists nor ‘consumers’ benefit from that.

The problem with Nightshade with regard to tumblr potentially selling us out to AI is that you can't protect any un-Nightshaded work that has already been reblogged from your OP. That stuff's out there, and you're not going to be able to track it all down and deal with it retroactively.

However.

Nightshade your old stuff anyway and repost it so that any future reblogs are poisoned, but especially Nightshade anything new before posting it. That way all the reblogs of your new work will be poisoned from the start.

got a lil hc that Chalice and the boys were able to forgive Saltbikini because they discovered the book that the Wondertart recipe supposedly came from (or that Chef took from and modified) and learned it dealt with a type of dark magic, which is notorious for preying on desires and dreams an individual might have and warping them the more they become obsessed (which i also hc would be similar if not the exact same magic the Devil and other 'dark magic' folk may use).

I like to think if the trio hadn't battled and defeated him, he would have probably still been under the influence of the dark magic in his soul. 

a more logical reason as to why he probably got community service and not prison time or worse is because Inkwell residents know about magic (and there's individuals on his specific isle who are even knowledgeable of dark magic). maybe they could have believed Saltsticker (who had a long-time rep for being a great guy) was simply influenced by it and vouched for a lighter sentence.

also lil fun fact, i still keep his Villainous Eyeshadow and Eye Colors because 1. me gusta and 2. i like to think dark magic might leave some kind of side effects which also include leftover villainous tendencies like threatening to chop up and eat particularly troublesome cup kids when they annoy him but y'know, all salt, no sting.
