Unpopular opinion incoming: ...Why do NaruHina fans even like The Last?

Unironically, I really want to know why, because, I am a huge NaruHina shipper myself, and even still, this movie never fails to aggrevate me in the worst way possible, even now, not even getting angry or anything, but... I just feel empty. I feel nothing. Not even the kiss made it worth, and I am HUGE sucker for sappy romances from time to time. Hell, I am a romance author, as a hobby. But this movie, it legit felt like, I just wasted my freaking time. That's a far worse sensation than getting mad, because, I just got nothing smart to say about it.

So, let me get this straight, and I am pretty sure, I am speaking of behalf of anyone that even remotely supports these two as one: The series NEVER making Naruto acknowledge Hinata's confession, was just damned moronic, even from a writing standpoint, because, yeah, in Japanese, it can mean two different things when you say "I love you", I know that, it might just mean "I love you as a teammate", but honestly, considering that NaruHina, by this point, was always meant, even according to Kishimoto, in hindsight, not acknowledging this moment for years to come, until the movie had to speak up about it: You lost the plot. If it was always meant to happen, why did you write it in a way as if Naruto straight up ignored everything she said?

And listen, I know, Naruto is a really delayed mofo, but the movie tried to paint it as if, "Naruto is a dense idiot, who isn't in touch with his own feelings, so you have to put him in a Genjutsu to """see the depths of her feelings for him"""", but honestly, to me, this just felt like a really convenient excuse to just regress Naruto as a person, just so the ship can happen, essentially, "guilt-tripping" him into going, "Ohhh, Hinata always had feelings for me, I didn't notice, even though she risked her life". Again, again, again, none of the events would even bother me so much, if it weren't for the undeniable fact: Somehow, during Shippuden, they tried to make it seem "ambigious", by not addressing her confession, EVER. Like, almost as if, Sakura was meant to be "the final option, because of Kushina", but it was clearly bullshit, and the movie wasn't subtle on that front either. But then, WHY WASN'T IT BROUGHT UP? WHY DID NARUTO NOT SAY ANYTHING?

And before any of you stupid motherfuckers are going to accuse me of being a "closeted NaruSaku shipper", I am not. These two simply wouldn't have ever worked out in the long run, for one thing, because I am not a fan of this trope, of the girl always needing to use violence, on an already traumatized individual (not to mention, that being played for laughs, which also rubs me the wrong way, especially in regards to comic relief characters), and him just going with it, which, by the way, isn't very realistic at all, as to why Naruto never got cross with Sakura at one point or another (one can of worms, I want to talk about some other time), and secondly, c'mon now, look at these two. They are more siblings than anything. As if, two different halves and shades of Kushina live inside the two of them, individually.

Not to mention, why are you NaruHina fans so comfortable with pardoning bad writing, brushing it off as if it's "deeper than you think"? Because, I just can't see it any other way, both Naruto and Hinata were frankly OOC in this movie, considering, this is all supposed to take place after the war. I can forgive Naruto being an idiot, who is slow on the draw, but straight up going "he is just dense", is frankly retarded, considering, we are talking about the equivalent to ninja Jesus Christ with him here, who basically loves everyone like family (safe for the villains), but then comes Hinata, he confesses first, but somehow "he is dense"? Why do we even need a fucking Genjutsu for all this? Doesn't he remember a person he truly loved like her, of ALL people? So we are left with having to rely on made-up flashbacks, which never even happened in the original series (only in Shippuden, late-game), and a contrived plot device, that comes in the name of "Otsutsuki"?

On that note, I really do not like what this movie did with Hinata. Look, "Toneri was messing with her chakra", even if that were true, it doesn't change anything, because it's still an excuse to make her another damsel in distress for Naruto to save. I get it, Hinata is not like Naruto in that, she bears his battle attributes, but sheesh, man, are you really fine with regressing her back to the Genin, who can't even run down walls to save her life? This is a mess, I really cannot approve of this, Hinata is way stronger than that, and we all know it, this just isn't acceptable to me. I want my couple dynamic to be evenly distributed to feel absolutely comfortable.

And this is acceptable to you all? I call it, for what it is: Terrible writing. Stitched together with convenient excuses, just to have the ship happen somehow, in an artificial way, despite having criminal lack of shared screentime together, non-canon content excluded, by the way (I am sorry, I have to be consistent here).

With all this knowledge, the movie comes off as a truly cringeworthy attempt to try appeasing to us, who love these two together. The sappy music, the "larger-than-life" presentation, the overt reliance on spectacle, rather than substance, is just making this experience even worse for me.

Captain vs Can't Cook: stupid argument. Rukia did become a Captain but Hime can't cook, not true. She can cook and the main issue with her is her food combinations. She lives alone so she knows how to cook. Kubo-sensei never said she can't cook, he said she has unusual food combinations.

Hime never graduated from High School, that's false. She graduated high school but unfortunately, university is out of her hands since her distant relatives can only support her till HS hence she has to work after HS. Rukia finished early from Shiho Academy thanks to Byakuya's machinations, not because she's a genius like Hitsugaya or Gin.

Orange Hair = Naruto? Are these guys fucking morons, Naruto's hair is blonde but his color theme is orange since he was based from Son Goku. So, based on their logic, both Orihime and Ichigo are similar to Naruto since they have both orange colored hair. Again fucking morons. I know crack shipping is the worse like ships that are some what reasonable is one thing, but when people ship somthing the clearly isn't going to work and try force feeding it to others is the worse. I really hate it when people act as if sns has any chance of happening cause it wasn't since neither Naruto or Sasuke are gay like you said.

Normal shipping is fine though as some pairings are quite reasonable or could happen if the author wanted it. Its just that some fans get out of hand especially when it was clear what the end game was going to be like with Naruto, Hinata was set up as the only possible love interest with her having a crush on him since her introduction.

Sakura is as far as possible from an example of hard work she has the talent, but wasted it by refusing to work hard unless someone was holding her hand. The show is about a lot of things hardwork, friendship, loneliness. There are a lot of messages in series as long as this.

Yeah no one other then Hinata could have picked up Naruto before the Neji fight for the simple reason no one else would be able to get him to let his guard down and drop his mask like he did for Hinata. Hinata has always been gentle and soft even during the exam showed kindness to Naruto wanting to help him in the written exam despite how it could get her in trouble. None of the characters could make him able to show his weak side and drop his fake confidence as none of them are the kind of characters who wouldn't make Naruto worse if he dropped his guard. Most would make fun of him or wouldn't have an idea what to say even Jiraiya at that point isn't close enough to Naruto to give him the support he needed.

NaruHina has always made sense it was clear they were going to be together and it only became certain as the series went on as every interaction ends up happening during big plot points.

Totally know what you mean about people acting as if Naruto and Hinata are trans is canon. Like seriously its not even headcanon its just forcing the idea due to their own insecurities and then trying to force feed to everyone in the Naruto fandom. If you point out the truth and facts they cry transphobic just cause you disagree with what they are so desperate to have as canon.

Sakura fans acting like SPR was a kiss in annoying the mood and setting did not have that kind of atmosphere at all it was medical treatment nothing more. In other manga yeah if the author intentionally plays up SPR and really sets the atmosphere then it can count as a kiss, but in Sakura's it was only medical treatment and even then it means little when Sakura pulls out the seal not long after when previously she complained about running out of chakra when Naruto was dying.

Hinata isn't even a stalker she only admired Naruto when he was in public places and as you pointed out did not harm him in anyway. Heck her attention would be far from unwanted if Naruto knew she was there he would have invited and befriended her and let Hinata watch and train with him in the open.

Temari isn't that bad she does have influence on both Shikamaru and Gaara who go on to influence Naruto. She is a side character though so she doesn't get shown that much nor her own character arc. I found her character interesting though as it becomes clear that she has always cared for Gaara even when he was his worse like a sister should. Plus her relationship with Shikamaru is a good overall.

Tenten could have been shown more out of the side characters she really didn't get a decent showing. I like NejiTen to me its the only Neji ship that makes any sense and a Hyuga weapon master sounds bad ass. Overall though she really did end up being forgotten about in the story and the only way she could influence Naruto is through her interactions with Neji, Hinata or Lee.

Sakura Haruno fanned herself, cursing the sun and the humidity. Why oh why did it have to be so fucking hot? She had just had a cold shower to try to cool down, and was bloody hot again! Not to mention horny! She'd broken up with Sasori a week ago for cheating on her and was currently single. A part of her suddenly wished he would waltz up to her house right now and beg to fuck her one last time. She needed a scratch, so bad.

To it's a stupid ship that's just a rehash of Narusaku and is going to be the same generic ship like Shikatema is

(excuse my overwhelming hatred for any ship not cannon and shikatema, i just really don't like it, it's a generic couple with the 'wife who is scary and a wimpy/forgetful husband' stereotype which everyone loves for some fucking reason.)

Borusara is going to be that shit and I am waiting for the fandom to fall face flat when they realize that SP's shipping shit is real and bad (and that manga is just a better source than anime)

If you have to promote ADULTERY to your ship you are officially PATHETIC and you don’t care about the characters you claim to be fans of. This is what I mean by these people don’t give a F about characters they just want whatever characters they latch onto to fuck.

Okay so I’ve been thinking about this since I talked about it briefly in DMs on Discord.

People really like to take the “I have no reason to love her or be loved by her” scene at face value, using to claim that Sasuke never liked Sakura at all. Now, I agree that all the scenes leading up to Naruto and Sasuke’s finally fight weren’t great, they were really messy honestly. But a lot of the fandom seems to forget that Sasuke was trying to cut his bonds with everyone.

He wanted to become the most hated man in the world, and having people still care about him ruin that. Having Sakura still care about him, despite everything he’s done ruins that. So he denies her, and pulls that genjutus where he kills her (which was seriously fucked up, not denying that). And when Kakashi’s getting at him for it, his words make Sasuke think about his family. Sakura’s love reminded him of their love.

Anyway. Canon SasuSaku is still shitty, I’m not denying that or defending it. All I’m saying is that there was ground work for the pairing and it’s not as shallow as a lot of people like to claim it is. Is it undeveloped as hell? Fuck yeah. Just like every other canon pairing we ended up with (mostly). I still think SakuLee should have been endgame lol. I’m just saying that Kishimoto had a lot he could have worked with and… still didn’t do that. Figures.

Also, side note: if you’re gonna call Sakura’s love for Sasuke shallow, then you have to call Naruto’s love for Sakura shallow. Because we get no other explained of why he likes her other then “she’s a pretty girl.” I say that as a NaruSaku shipper.
