His amulet is a magic prosthetic that sees his ceremorphosis as a wound to his flesh and so is working overtime to undo it. He knows nothing about spells outside of the cleric schools so didn't think much of it. After fleeing to the surface from Oryndoll due to an assassination attempt, the now ex-High Venerator of Ilsensine eventually finds an elderly man living alone in the forest near a somewhat busy road. After watching the house for several weeks he notices that the man never gets visitors and decides to break in at night, he eats the man and lives in his house occasionally abducting travelers on the road as needed. Thez quickly gets careless and the abductions are noticed. While searching the area, guards find him and he's forced to evacuate his new home and return to the wilds. It's now known that a rogue illithid is in the area so Thez wanders in an attempt to find a new home. Two years after going renegade, Thez makes his way to Durlag's tower. The tower has been mostly disarmed in the last 100 years and is relatively safe, here he finds a dead adventurer with several somewhat outdated but still useful maps and some jewelry he cares little for. He takes their entire pack and uses the tower as a base for several days before he remembers the amulet and ring and tries them on, finding them to be enchanted with a disguise and mindshielding spells. With his new disguise, Thez makes his way to Baldurs gate and lives several months as a beggar out of a severely dilapidated house. He spends the cold season in the city library, staying warm and learning as much as he can about the area to not stick out. Eventually, the head librarian, a dwarf woman, offers him a job out of pity and he begins to rebuild his life among humans. 20 years later bg3 happens :)

I feel for Orpheus, I really do, but also he asks A LOT of you. Like with the context that you either went to the House of Hope and literally had to fight your way out for the hammer OR you took a deal with a devil for it, you’ve done a lot to free him.

That post abt larian making a bunch of good decisions in spite of WotCs general rules and lore abt dnd has a bunch of good points I agree with but the "there are no inherently evil races" they bring up rings a little bit hollow when 100% of the goblins you meet are gleefully evil and 100% of the goblins you can help in various ways end up backstabbing and betraying you no matter how much you've helped them.

If goblins were a playable race or, hell, if there was even just a small group of them you could find that were like "oh yeah the dudes that worship the Absolute are all horrible, regardless of species. Anyway, want some Goblin Stew? Pull up a seat, friend." I think that particular bit of the post would be easier to chew on.

Hey if anyone was interested: I've been trying to figure out my OC Mindflayer's height but I desperately needed a jumping-off point and "slightly shorter than The Emperor" kinda doesnt cut it when you dont know how tall he even is

I have been digging through wiki after wiki and the only heights that were confirmed was Minsc at 6'3 and Astarion at 5'9 (Astarion and player Mindflayer are the exact same height, mb for not using him in the pic but I didn't feel like finding the angle again) it might be off by an inch, but it's certainly better than nothing. Please thank Gale for his ceremorphosis sacrifice
