Kingdom 2

So i know the line up for 'Road to Kingdom 2' is out although im not 100% sure it's confirmed(?)... for those who don't know the lineup is: Cravity, Xikers, ATBO, THE NEW SIX, YOUNITE, and 8TURN... i heard rumours and mentions of tempest but im not too sure. I also know that there are fans that are against road to kingdoms for a multitude of reasons that are definitely valid but as a multistan I can't help but be a little excited for the awesome performances and idol interactions we're gonna get!

anyways, I knos that the show hasn't even aired yet and I'm getting ahead of myself but here's a list of groups I think will be in Kingdom 2 and why! Mostly 4th and 5th gen groups listed! BUt lmk what yall think too!

ZEROBASEONE

For starters Kep1er was on queendom 2. They started off with a strong debut so I definitely see why they would. I don't really have too many reasons for them it just makes sense...? Only downside is that they have to go through another survival show...

2. TREASURE

Honestly for a YG group, treasure is pretty underrated. I think they'd have doubts about participating on Kingdom 2 because tbh it didn't really go well for iKon but I think the leaders of treasure would push an encourage the members to do it. Especially since YG is ass at promoting and they haven't had a comeback in 9 months. I think they'll definitely have a comeback before kingdom and during kingdom. And although they are underrated they are still well-established. Also victims of a survival show...

3. BOYNEXTDOOR

BND is possibility. I feel like because they're under hybe people don't see the need for them to participate but I also feel like they'd want to try something different or challenging since they are still a pretty new group.

4. P1HARMONY

with my whole heart and soul they'd fuck. the. stage. up. I feel as though this is also a very well established group but kingdom would give them an opportunity to better express their creative idol outlet. I think they'd also be hesitant since SF9 participated but they'd also like to try something new/different!

5. NCT WISH

also a maybe group. they are newer so I'd see why they'd participate but they are under SM so i'd feel their fanbase would be bigger but because they are a japanese centered group it would give them an opportunity to promote more in korea. I also feel like they'd do it to prove something - becasue they're new but they also want to show off they're own talents within NCT. PT3 OF VICTIMS OF SURVIVAL SHOWS...

6. &TEAM

Another victim of a survival shows.... also another maybe group. I also think they'd use this as an opportunity to promote more in korea, also try something new and challenging. I think it would also pave way for them to express their artist creativity. I say maybe because they are under hybe but i guess that's probably besides the point?

7. CIX

TBH IDEK i just feel like they would? I am more of a casual CIX listener. Seeing as they are a, imo, well known group I think they'd also do it for the opportunities. They are really talented. I started listening to them bc of jinyoung (wannable) but after watching YGTB i started to get into them more bc of seunghun and bx too... they're also three victims of survival shows... ATP i guess i have a type...

7. AB6IX

ehh tbh idek either... i guess similar to CIX since they are a 4th gen group too. Daehwi and Woojin... more victims...

8. RIIZE

HUGE EMPHASIS ON THE MAYBE. Only really put them down because they're 5th gen. with them I also see it as a creative outlet opportunity and something to prove. like yes we do have talent and our success is not bc of the company we're signed under.

9. TEMPEST

if they aren't on RTK2 then I feel like they'd be on kingdom 2.

10. TWS

cause they're also new? also an opportunity for a comeback.

TBVH i did think of groups that most definitely would not participate but that's due to a number of reasons and in all honestly I'm terrified of fandom wars breaking out.

I was watching ikon tv on YouTube again and that made me look at a bunch of old clips from kpop, and I just want to say FUCK THE BIG 3 SO MUCH OR ANY OTHER COMPANY THAT TREATS IDOLS LIKE SHIT

Blatantly favoritism over Twice and Stray Kids, which leads to overworking them, and zero to nonexistent comebacks to got7 and day6 (idk about itzy bc I'm not a fan). For example in 2018, Twice had 6 comebacks (japanese/singles included) and in both 2017/19 they had 5 (japanese/singles included) Stray Kids on the year they debuted, 2018, had 4 and in 2019 they had 5 (japanese/singles included).

This situation got so bad that during a vlive Jeongyeon cried because of how overworked she was. She, Mina and Jisung had to take a break from promotion, I know that those breaks were in different eras but I think that there's a link on why only members of the most overworked groups needed a break.

Also Got7 has like zero promotion, when they had the world tour ahgases were the ones to promote then, because jype didn't bought ads. The boys songs were refused so many times, Mark's schedule were canceled so he couldn't meet his family. They refused to give a solo career to Yugyeom and Mark, when they failed to protect the boys from the sasaengs which lead them moving out so many times and on why Jackson got injured.

Edit: I am more than glad to say that today, 10th of January, all members of Got7 are leaving Jype. #Got7forever💚 I love you boys, thank you for 7 years of happiness, and I'll proudly continue to support all of you

How they forced that visual and hairstyle on Jeongyeon, even tho she didn't wanted it, she said during a vlive that she wanted to grow her hair but the company used to cut shorter everytime. They are extremely strict with the weight and the food, a few artists like Sunmi already said that. Somi has told some stories about how they had to sneak food and hide eating in the bathroom, and when Momo was forced to lose 7kg in seven days only to appear in a showcase.

The famous situation flag situation with Tzuyu. She was 16 when that happened, she introduced herself as Taiwanese and held the Taiwan flag as well. Which lead to many to many chinese users saying she was a pro-independence activist, she was barred from the Chinese television and suspended of all her activities in China. 2 months later, on the day of the election in Taiwan, Jype posted a video of her reading an apology saying that there's only one China and she is extremely proud to be Chinese. She was 16 at the time, and you can see during the video that she is so scared, sad and clearly hesitating on saying what she's reading, the whole video just has this weird, forced vibes. The 3 presidential candidates said that video was too cruel for a 16 year old girl and that she didn't need to apologize.

I will never forgive yg for disbanding 2ne1, for not helping G-Dragon when he was accused of plagiarism and started suffering from depression but had to continue with the promotion. Same thing with Top that was diagnosed with social anxiety and depression, and suffered a overdose because of the marijuana scandal but yg had also nothing to say.

For releasing Hanbin in a DAY because of false accusations, while it took them WEEKS to release s***gri and only after he released a statement saying that he was leaving bigbang. And for not telling the public or for not defending Jennie during that time everyone were saying she was lazy when in fact she had an ankle injury, but still continued the promotions.

SM

Whether we like to admit or not, SM is probably the best company in the kpop history if we're talking about success, they have a formula that works over and over again, it's a pattern, we can especially see it in Suju, Shinee, Exo and Nct. But omg they have zero compassion for their idols.

Starting from the training, we all know the training for the debut is really difficult, but a lot of people say that between all the companies SM is the worst one, they are extremely strictly and controlling , especially the managers who abuse the power. They have this curated-ness that is quite toxic, and leads to an incredibly perfectionistic and controlling management system. Kai used to practice 8 hours a day so that everything was perfect, like surely work it out bc Kai is one of the best dancers in the industry, but still that's a lot of hours you're basically overworking yourself (I think)

As a result, many idols have even more outstandingly brutal beauty standards than there already are in the kpop industry generally. especially intense weight-loss standards, Taeyeon already said this, during the first 5 years of GG she was constantly battling with eating disorders. Baekhyun has this diet where, instead of eating the food he only chews and then spits out, Sehun in 2017 (I think) had this stage on the Exo tour and he said that he spend an entire month on diet, so he could do that stage. Taemin said on a few episodes of Mtopia that he was on a diet, but you can clearly see that he was extremely thin. Also they have a part in their contracts about plastic surgery, you can see that almost every SM artist has done it a double eyelid surgery.

The blatantly favoritism over Korean idols and the mistreats that happens with idols that aren't Korean (especially with they're chinese), as we saw many times already with examples like Tao, Kris, Luhan, Lay, Winwin, Ten and Lucas before they joined WayV. Or favoritism with certain members of groups, like Taeyong in Nct, of course that favoritism is a part of their formula but still pretty fucked up.

They have such a questionable promotion, like I already read once about. They said that SM promotes the new groups so they can form a better fan base and that way no longer will need the promotion, but still this is extremely bad. Like with BoA, Tvxq or Suju who are still relevant but we barely hear news about them because SM doesn't promote then, and I can already see this with Exo especially in their latest comeback.

They manage mental health horrifically. Like with Taeyeon in 2014/15 when a member (bc SM treated Jessica as garbage) of her group had to leave, which lead to the midia saying it was her fault alongside with the hate she received at that time because of her relationship with Baekhyun, that lead to her depression and eating disorders. Same thing happened with Baek, although he didn't receive the same amount of hate, he still had to suffer with his relationship being in the spotlight while 3 members of his group left, because AGAIN SM treated them as fucking garbage.

For stop carrying about f(x), as a result lead to a witch hunt on Victoria saying that it was her fault for that happening, for Sulli who was suffering from a mental illness but never received a break nor the protection from the media that used to say that she was a bad example. For Jonghyun who was also suffering from depression but never got any help or a break.

And our latest examples Irene and Chanyeol. I don't approve Irene's actions, but the fact that the media is so ruthless with her it's ridiculous and even more ridiculous of SM to not defend their idol, especially when there's so many other celebrities that are WAY worse than her. And for Chanyeol, who was accused of cheating on his girlfriend 10 times, but SM had nothing to say or to defend his image. It took the fans for that to happen, the fans were the ones to find out that was a fake and cover up scandal so the news about the government crisis were not to be seen.

They are so bad at dealing with idol apologies, like why did Taeyong in 2016 had to apologize for something he didn’t do, but they never had anyone apologize for their racist or the cultural appropriation that the idols have done many times already in a lot of mvs????

That's why I hate the kpop industry and the media so fucking much, bc they're ruthless and assholes who are putting so much pressure on the idols, who in the end of the day are humans and are deserving of things like love, privacy and a break to take care of themselves. I truly adore kpop and the dramas, but I'd stop watching and listening with all of my heart if it means that they would stop treating humans beings as fucking trash! They deserve so much more!

in all seriousness though, when it comes to ikons education, I think about that bobsaw ikon tv ep where they were doing the riddles to win points and literally none of them could answer the questions I guess mainly bc they were geometry/trigonometry + literary questions. I’m going to just say that choosing not to read and write as a kid because I thought it was boring has unfortunately taken a toll on me as an adult, and since they (ikon) weren’t going to school during a time where their brains were still developing, it would be harder to learn those very same things now as adults, even basic literacy and comprehension skills.

aside from that, yunhyeong was the only one who finished high school so it’s funny like 6/7 members didn’t get an education whatsoever but also that the one member that was up all night studying was also out all day putting on shows for y*ng hyunsuk just to prove he was a valuable member to the group and company

I agree with you. I think iKON and BTOB being there is really...not good. iKON has been through so much in the last year and a half (?) and BTOB has been active for almost a decade long as opposed to the other half of Kingdom. Ateez {‘18}, SKZ {‘16}, SF9 {‘16}, and The Boyz {‘17} are all 4th gen; BTOB {‘12} & iKON {‘15} are 3rd gen. I already know who the “filler groups” are and that makes me upset. SF9 isn’t as popular as the other groups & BTOB is early 3rd gen so it’s been almost a decade since they debuted and that’s almost disrespectful. Not sure about iKON bc they’re still relevant but they’ve also been mostly absent for a while [until Kim Jiwon dropped Album of the Year💞💞].

Anyways, I hate Korean competition shows unless they’re like “wholesome” (like Masked Singer). But maybe that’s just because I’ve been traumatized by them [No Mercy, Stray Kids, Treasure Box, etc]😅

ikon has been through enough for a fucking lifetime. Since you touched on the topic of debut shows: I despise them. They put so much pressure on the idols and making them compete against friends/colleeagues is so toxic. Not to mention ikon’s which was the worst Ive ever seen. They had their first debut competition in WIN, where they were team B and they lost, so team A won and became WINNER and they got to debut. Then so they could debut they went through ANOTHER show and it was so so evil... Idk how much you know but basically in the 2nd debut competition they said that hanbin, bobby and jinhwan were safe, like they were going to debut, but then they introduced 3 new trainees (chanwoo was among them). And yg said it was going to be decided through voting, which meant that yunhyeong, junhoe and donghyuk could’ve easily been replaced by the trainees if they didn't please the crowd enough. Can you imagine how stressful it was to those 3? Having to work even harder because there was a chance they could be kicked out of the group they had been practicing and performing with for YEARS? I hate YG with every single cell in my body what he did to them was just plain trashy 

also yeah its kinda weird that they’re going, maybe its to promote bobby’s album of the year??

i know you don't care about ikon or winner but can i just rant about the shitty way yg moved with their artists this year already.......like they gave us a ONE week notice before bobby's (ikon member) album dropped on jan 25th..........and on the same fucking day, like 7 hours later they anounce rosie's solo.............couldn't even let him have 24 hours of fucking spotlight. even with mino's album last year there was a bunch of promotional shit for it. now bobby has to put a stop to his promotion period which only lasted 2 weeks anyway because he has to prepare for ikon's comeback in early march AND they're sending them to kingdom AND they announced another solo for yoon (winner member) pray tell WHY are they shoving everything up in our faces with 4 solos in like 3 months plus a group comeback can y'all chill and let everyone have their time. i hate yg fr.

in the beginning, it made me cry bc it team b thought it was the last time they would ever sing. if they didn’t win the show, they were told they would never debut. 

then after ikon debut as 7 (we love you maknae on top!), hanbin changed the lyrics in his verse from “not just my own but the lives five others...” to “not just my own but the lives six others...”

and now it makes me bawl bc hanbin was so unfairly ripped away from ikon. and he promised to protect them as their leader and he’s just.... gone....

It’s like they’re trying to cover their ass, preventing another slip up like with The Eun Ji Won situation. Maybe I’m bias, maybe I’m so prejudice against YG that no matter what they do, I’ll disagree. But this just seems like a big fuck off to Hanbin and to all those who supported him. I’m sure it wasn’t easy for the boys to redo the song, to cut out Hanbin’s part. Let me know your thought.

As the world of KPOP shakes from these scandals I just wanna say...

This post has been a long time coming. I've been meaning to say something for a long long time but i could never bring myself to face it. I was afraid, I was shocked. My realities felt like they were falling apart, and i am still shocked everyday by the news.

Everyone knows that business is dirty, that's probably why many disliked Seungri to begin with. His money grubbing ways, businessman, big boss persona never sat well with everyone. But for the longest time i believed that this was his passion, a place where he found purpose and belonging - and he probably did. I was naive to believe that he was different from any other businessman, and i wanted to remain naive forever. When the news first broke I denied it with all my heart. I thought, "this is just another rumour to bring YG down, it's just the media trying to take YG down". Then the evidence came in. Then Jung Joonyoung Then the group chat. Then the testimonials. It was undeniable. Yet I still tried. Now i know that I can't.

I'm mad. Mad for many reasons. 1) I'm mad at Seungri for being a dirty businessman. How dare he share a label with strong powerful women like CL and Dara and still have the conscience to exploit women. How dare he play the game that he knows is morally wrong. How dare he betray our faith in him. 2) I'm mad at Seungri for being naive. So many times we saw the BB members say they were suspicious of his 'friends'. Did he listen? Evidently not. 3) I'm mad that he betrayed BB's trust in him. How fucking dare you break up a legendary group. 4) I'm mad that he is taking YG down with him. How dare you hurt WINNER, IKON, BLACKPINK, LEE HI, AKMU, ONE, ANDA, SOMI, TREASURE 13. How fucking dare you. Yedam didn't wait for 7 years for his debut to be sabotaged in this way.

Seungri how dare you. How fucking dare you. I'm disappointed. I'm upset. I'm mad. I'm desperate.

Unpopular Kpop Opinions pt. 8 (i think)

1. RED VELVET’s new song is ok. I didn’t find it exciting (then again I don’t really think any of their songs are super incredible) and we all know they have 0 stage presence so it’s all just a pass for me.

2. I wish STRAY KIDS would use Felix for more than just his shock value deep voice. Now before you try and kill me, i’m not saying this is the members doing it to Felix themselves, or them personally not giving him a lot of lines, no, i’m just saying I would really like to see Felix’s voice both rapping and singing used for more than shock value on songs in the future.

3. While we’re on the topic of Stray Kids, I don’t understand why jype let’s SK write & produce their own music pre debut - now but he struggles to let GOT7. Again, i’m not tryna shade SK, I love and stan them hard and I think it’s so great they’re able to be involved in their own songs I just don’t know why jype won’t give the same luxury to Got7. Now ik what you’ll probably say, Verse 2, 7for7, Eyes On You, & their future comeback was all written / produced by them but I feel like jype always think he could make a better song for them himself when it isn’t true. Yeah the title tracks he wrote are bops, but are nothing compared to Tomorrow Today, You Are, Look, etc. those songs make you feel something when you hear them & I wish jype would stop being trash for once and just let Got7 make the music they wanna make bc I guarantee you it’ll always be better than anything he can pull outta his ass.

4. I’m low-key over DDU-DU DDU-DU. I still think its a certified jam don’t get me wrong, its just everywhere and it is kinda getting overplayed but like I said it still goes hard.

5. I never realized just how toxic BTS’ fandom is. When I took a step back from BTS (before LY:T was released) I saw how much hatred, anger, and competitiveness is in the fandom. And seeing so much of that pretty much daily on every social media site distanced me from BTS. & no i’m not saying every single Army is toxic i’m just saying that I understand your love for bts, I do, I still stan them 100% just everything doesn’t have to be a competition to be number 1. Army’s need to stop putting bts on this untouchable pedestal & get rid of the superiority complex some of you developed. I’m glad they’re getting what they deserve but kpop and the world don’t just revolve around bts.

6. When will KARD be over this tropical house music? I love love love that Kard is a co-ed group but every title song they have sounds the same in one way or another & I hope they can eventually branch out from what they’re stuck in.

7. I wanna support LOONA, I do, but every time I see their name anywhere i’m triggered by all the “stan loona” shit that’s literally everywhere and i’m just like yeet. Today’s not the day.

8. This really isn’t an opinion tbh anyway, not to sound triggered but if E’Dawn actually gets dropped from PENTAGON, i’m flying to korea to be all ya’ll knetz asses.

9. IKON crushes any concept they choose to take on & I’m fucking waiting for the king of being trash YG to pull his head outta his ass and fucking promo them for once. With how diverse iKon’s music is they could be like Got7 & Monsta X rn traveling the whole world with their music & branching out even more but then again we’re talking about a guy (YG) that thought Love Scenario would be a flop so I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him.

10. People who can’t get into SEVENTEEN bc they “have too many members” or “don’t understand the point of the units” or say “why are they called seventeen when there’s thirteen members” are weak. Like imagine not stanning thirteen incredible boys that constantly serve you honey like vocals, raps that incinerate your wig, visuals that will leave you speechless, choreography that will never not leave your ass shook & all together have 3 braincells? Can’t relate. I love my 13 sons.

oh yesss! I like treasure, but it’s kida odd tho? Hanbin was so wronged don’t even start me on that.... 

I really liked crazy (I think that’s the name of the song?) and the other one that goes ‘be your boooooy’

but it kind of confuses me, cause what the fuck is YG doing?... Yg is kinda known for having small groups from the beginning, while SM would do large groups with 9/10+ members (like super junior, exo, girls generation, nct... f(x) and shine being the exception), yg would always have small groups? bigbang with 5 (back then), 2ne1 with 4, winner with 5, ikon being 7 was already big for yg, 4 for blackpink... And then they shoot out this 12 member boy group and I was kinda confused like, why are there so many members? That’s very unlike YG lmao... also their concept is lovely, I really like it, but it’s weird in a YG perspective, it’s not the usual badass, I rule the world YG concept that everyone debuted with (ex. LaLaLa by bigbang, fire by 2ne1, boombayah by blackpink...) they kept with this like young-boy sorta cute concept which I get, a lot of them are young, but Idk... it’s something I’m not really used to see in yg and I think they’re trying to do what other agencies do?? cause they’ve lost a lot of cash money so I think they tried to do something else with this group lmao
