They spent some time together when Léo had student internship at Gabriel™️ but that was years ago. Now Léos moving back to Paris after finishing university and is excited to get closer with their family again!! Well... get closer with Adrien and drive dear Uncle Gabe up the walls.
Léo owns a small but successful clothing shop near Adrien's school and works parttime in a costume shop for a local theater.

I would say it
What they did to Chloe is not justice or karma
What the writers did to her is cruel and disgusting
Sure, she is a bully and a spoiled brat, what she did need to face consequences for that
But this…is just…I don’t have the words to say it
The fact that Andre don’t face any consequences for his actions and also as a reward he now has a new kid to raise its piss me off
That man is not innocent, he did not deserve this pathetic excuse of redemption arc
It also make me sick how people are celebrating this, even saying she deserves this and how they were right all this time about her been an “irredimible monster” and even saying Andre was a caring father to her
Caring father my ass, he is pathetic, an hypocrite, a man child and an coward
Are you telling me the man who raised that child to be an spoiled and mean person is now the victim???
“B-But his dreams to be a movie director where crushed because he become a mayor to impress Audrey and then Chloe came and and-“
Please….SHUT UP!!!
This is NOT Chloe’s fault, no child should be blamed for the parents decisions and actions
And despide her attitude and her actions, you liked or not, she is still an abused child
I’m sick of this “if you are an abused child but you behavior is awful then your as bad and even worst than your abusers”
What is this “perfect victim” thing going on in this show???
“But Mylene was abandoned by her mom and she is not-“
Shut up
“But Zoe-“
I said shut up
No every person reacts to trauma the same way, everyone reacts different
So please, stop doin that
Stop blaming the kid for being abused and not behave as the “poor and perfect victim 🥺”
And also
Can you guys stop blaming Adrien for not telling Mari that he was gonna live Paris??!!
May I remind you he is son of Gabriel Friking Agreste!!!!???
And also stop blaming him for not standing up, this is not his fault, he is a kid under his father’s control
And sadly I really can’t see any moment he would do it because the show want him to be just a trophy for Mari
Just a damsel in distress for our protagonist because this show forget the title of the series “Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and CHAT NOIR”
And Miss Bustier, Damocles and every fucking adult of this show….all you guys sucks!
How the heck you let a child to be the mayor in the first place!!??You guys should know better!
No one did shit to help Chloe, all you did is just “am Chloe please don’t be mean, you have to be nice uwu”
You really tough this was gonna work??
No even you Marinette, you just told her to vibe with her shitty mom because they are both “mean”, no shit why didn’t she change for the better
But you know what, I’m not goin to blame Mari on this, because this is not her job, she is a kid as well, is the grow ass adults job
What this show built up in season 2 was pointless, because why give us a redemption arc for Chloe, why give her deep, why make her sympathetic, why make her the Bee holder if this wasn’t going anywhere??
I hate season 5, I take it back what I say about season 3 and 4, this is by far the worst season of the series in my opinion
That’s all folks
Deer out 🦌

Oh I looooove the new, “Emilie made sentimonsters of her and Gabriel to play magical nanny and do the actual child rearing of Adrien while his actual parents fucked off to plot magical terrorism” theory. Like that is so in line with entitled rich people and gives Adrien a more believable reason why he isn’t as awful as his parents and of course Gabriel already loves and adores Emilie so he wouldn’t contradict Adrien’s loving memories of his mom being a sentimonster.
It’s just 😘 chefs kiss
@infinitysgrace actually revealed that the theory was first concocted early this year, before season three even began airing. 'Wishmaker' just made it newly topical and gave it traction.
But yes, the theory presents such an interesting angle to the Agrestes. It explains how Gabriel and Emilie could both be villains with Adrien still having learned all that kindness from somewhere. I have mentioned that the possibility of Emilie being evil would present some interesting things to consider about Adrien's upbringing, since, as you said, there should be a believable reason that he wasn't raised to be as awful as the supervillains. Emilie's villainy having an aspect where she creates (technically) robot nannies for her son suits that idea so well.
And your point about entitled rich people is so true. Miraculous Ladybug does have a bit of a theme when it comes to people in power, especially rich people in power. If the power is unjustified, the person is very likely to abuse it. Of course the rich scion of the Graham de Vanily family would abuse her power to create thinking creatures to get out of changing diapers. Why on earth would she use that power for a sympathetic reason? Because she's a mother? We've seen that mothers can be kind and supportive, well-meaning but misguided, or even downright abusive and neglectful on this show, and all of these types of mothers are loved by their children. Why on earth do we assume Emilie is the Dead Anime Mom who can do no wrong just because Adrien "My Father Has His Reasons" Agreste loves her? Miraculous clearly doesn't conform to the Sacred Motherhood trope. Emilie is a rich heiress married to a business tycoon and she got magical powers. All the chances are there for her to be a literal evil witch to round out the gang of rich Witches Spelled With a "B".
Just look at Emilie’s husband. An immoral business tycoon who freely manipulates his “longtime friends” Audrey and Tomoe, is repulsed by other people in his space and launched an anti-environmentalist ad campaign (and he’d rather be a supervillain than do his dayjob). Now look at Emilie’s known family, a sister who’s every word drips with manipulation and a nephew who’s the same in addition to being a selfish pickpocket (and willing to team up with a supervillain).

Just A Friend(songfic)2
Just A Friend
CONTINUED!!!
The school stood still as Marinette Dupain-Cheng walked hand in hand with some random guy, leaving Adrien Agreste, alone on the school steps. She had kissed this guy and claimed Adrien was just a friend. Everyone glanced between the former 'couple' and watched as Adrien's face revealed his true feelings. Whispers began to formulate and pass though the crowd.
Did Marinette cheat on Adrien? Had they ever been together? Who confessed to who? Did anyone know? Did Adrien dump her? Was the guy a rebound? Did she leave Adrien?
Alya couldn't stand not knowing.
"Nino, talk to Adrien and I'll talk to Mari." Alya insisted, "We'll get to the bottom of this!"
She had to protect her best friend. Nino quickly side-stepped Marinette and hurried to his best friend's side.
"Hey, Mari!" Alya exclaimed, loudly.
"Alya!" Marinette cried, hugging her friend.
"Girl! You look so different." Alya said , pulling away.
Her pigtails were gone and her clothes were a mix of dark, but colorful. Alya quickly noticed her smile was brighter.
"I like it. It suits you." her best friend spoke with a smile.
Alya glanced over to the new guy she had walked in with. He raised his brow at her.
"Mari, who's the stiff?" she whispered.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! Damian, this is Alya; my best friend. Alya, this is Damian; my boyfriend!" Marinette announced, happily.
Alya took notice that Adrien had fled the scene with Nino hot on his tails.
"I was going to introduce you to him at lunch." Marinette continued.
"Do you think we can catch up after school? I didn't get to see you all summer." Alya asked, feeling her phone vibrate in her hand.
"Tomorrow." Mari asked, "Damian and I have a date planned tonight and I think, you're skyping with your family tomorrow?"
He nodded in response.
"Great! Sounds like a plan." Alya smiled, waving as Marinette walked away with her boyfriend.
'Boyfriend? What the fuck just happened?'
She pulled out her phone and read Nino's text.
Dealing with it. Head to class. Explain later.
Alya sighed as she made her way to class.
Adrien watched as Marinette dragged her boyfriend to their table.
'Maybe eating at home won't be so bad today.'
Natalie immediately noticed something was off with her charge as soon as he sat in the vehicle.
"What happened at school?" she questioned.
"I realized something too late." Adrien spoke, sadly, "There's no reason to inform Father. It won't affect my school work and is not school related."
"Make sure you eat before you return to school." Natalie spoke as the reached the manor.
Adrien nodded and made his way to the table.
Adrien smiled at the camera, holding his posture and smile perfectly. The shoot was going quickly, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw pink.
He quickly glanced over and saw Marinette with her boyfriend, getting ice cream at Andre's cart.
'They're already getting cones together?'
"Adrien, you need to focus! The photos your father requires demand perfection!" the photographer cried.
'I don't feel perfect.' he thought, gazing at Marinette.
Natalie followed his eye sight and saw the Dupain-Cheng girl with a boy, smiling and laughing. She sighed and quickly cancelled the shoot.
"But Mr. Agreste-" the photographer began.
"I will deal with Mr. Agreste. I don't think we'll get any more shots out of Adrien today." she spoke, "Pack up; the shoot will be rescheduled. Adrien, let's go."
He followed her wordlessly to the car.
"I assumed you had told her your feelings long before now." Natalie stated.
Adrien blinked back his tears.
"I-" he began, "She told me and I said no. I said we were only friends."
She sighed, She didn't blame him. Gabriel couldn't read his own emotions and it seemed that Gabriel's lack of empathy had caught up with his son. Adrien had missed out on a chance to acknowledge his feelings.
"Is she still your friend?" she asked.
"I think so." Adrien sniffed.
"Then, at least you have that. Not everyone stays friends with someone they had feelings for. It will be painful, at first, but you'll survive." Natalie commented.
Adrien took a peek to see she had turned to face outside the window. He frowned, realizing she might have been talking from experience.
Once they reached the house, he exited the car and went to his room. He crawled into his bed and began to sob.
It was just as hard the next day. It hurt to see them together. Marinette would smile at him, but he knew it wasn't the same ones she use to give him. Somehow the smiles she showed her boyfriend were brighter. He could see she meant those smiles.
It hurt to see Marinette hold hands with the new guy. Sometimes, they would just casually be in each other's arms. It reminded him of how he use to hold her in her room. When they cuddled under blankets as they watched movies. How he's bring her close so he could feel her warmth.
As school let out, he watched as they crossed the street to her family's bakery.
"I'll text you later." Marinette spoke.
Damian nodded in response.
Alya quickly rushed over to the bakery, noticing Damian was still there.
'I thought we had plans tonight?'
Damian entered the bakery and quickly exited with his black helmet and leather jacket. He threw his jacket on as he exited the bakery and pulled out the keys to his bike. Damian went over and straddled his bike as he revved it to start.
Marinette quickly went over and kissed him.
"Be safe." Marinette whispered.
"Always, Angel." Damian said, kissing her forehead.
He placed his helmet on and closed the visor as he took off down the street.
Adrien watched from across the street as Marinette's gaze never left Damian's back. He quickly made his way to the car. He just wanted to go home.
"We need to talk. Now!" Alya spoke, as she dragged her best friend though the front doors and up to her room.
"What the hell was that?" shouted Alya , the second Marinette shut her door.
"What's what?" asked Marinette, confused.
"A boyfriend!" she shrieked, "What happened to Adrien?"
Marinette sighed and threw herself on her chaise.
"Adrien and I are just friends." she commented.
"Mari-" Alya began.
"I confessed last year." Marinette said, not looking towards her friend.
"What?" her best friend questioned, "And you didn't say anything?"
"Cause I didn't want to make it a big deal!" Mari cried out.
"You finally confess to your crush and it's not a big deal?" Alya asked, "What's really going on?"
Marinette kicked off her shoes and sat up.
"Since you and Nino are always together and I know you were trying to set us up, we……bonded." Mari admitted, "We became better friends."
"I know." Alya said, dragging Marinette's desk chair closer to the girl, "You guys looked happy. A lot of us thought you were dating. Did you date?"
Marinette shook her head, remembering how Adrien had made her feel.
"We got close. Adrien would come over or would ask me to hang out with him. " Marinette spoke, "Just the two of us."
"Like a date?" Alya teased.
"I thought so." Marinette frowned, "We would cuddle and he'd kiss my cheek. Sometimes on the lip, but then he'd just smile. Like 'oops'?"
Marinette groaned as she laid back, sifting through old feelings.
"I thought he had feelings for me, but anytime I'd want to do something, just the two of us, he'd say no. No problem, except I'd get text messages from him later saying things like: Wishing you were here or I miss you." she sighed.
Alya frowned as she listened to what had be going on with her friends.
"I felt like I was a yo-yoing between friend and girlfriend. I needed to know. So, I decided that if we got together, okay, but if not, things wouldn't be like before. I confessed. He told me there was nothing wrong with how we were and that we were friends." Marinette looked to Alya, to guage her reaction.
"Are you okay….with all that? With what happened between you two?" Alya asked concerned.
"It hurt. I seriously thought he liked me." Marinette whispered, "I told Maman and she had Papa get me some ice cream. She made my favorite dinner. It felt like I cried all night. I threw out all the pictures and gifts. I went to school the next day and acted like it never happened. That was hard."
"Wait!" her best friend exclaimed, "Is this why things got so weird between you two, at the end of the year?"
"What do you mean?" Marinette asked, sitting up.
"You kept inviting people everywhere." Alya declared.
"Yeah. He said I was a friend so….I made sure he only saw me as a friend." she shrugged, "I knew he wouldn't try to cuddle or kiss me with other people around. He never did. I don't think he got the hints. Sometimes I'd ask people and he would say no, it was something just for us. So then I'd walk away and say I was too busy, instead."
"Wow." Alya whispered, taking everything in.
"I did bring him back here, sometimes, but we never went to my room. We'd stay in the living roon. He'd try to suggest coming up her, but I'd tell him it was a mess and it's not like anything else would happen up here. He'd try to grab my hand and I'd pull it away." Marinette revealed, "He'd always look shocked. I'd text Maman for some food and say I was texting you. Usually, she'd hover for awhile."
"I wish you had told me so I could have helped you more." Alya frowned.
"He stopped by in the summer. I don't know what he wanted. He left after he found out I wasn't here." Marinette spoke, "My Nona showed up on the last day of school and said she was going to the States for awhile. She wanted to know if I could go. She was only going for the summer. My parents thought it was a good idea. So, I left without telling anyone."
"So…..how did you land Damian?" her best friend asked, "He's not a rebound, is he?"
"No!" Marinette shouted, "I really like him!"
Alya watched as Marinette started smiling softly.
"Damn." the journalist whistled, "I haven't seen you smile like that since you stated crushing on Adrien. Whoops!"
"It's okay." Marinette stated, "Adrien is in the past. I didn't plan on falling for anyone. We met in Gotham. Someone tried to rob us and I disarmed -
"You? Disarming someone? You tripped up the stairs like thirty minutes ago!" Alya interrupted.
"You dragged me up the stairs and ….. Maman wanted me to learn self defense…..in case Adrien got…. too handsy." Marinette blushed.
"What happened next?" Alya asked, leaving Marinette's new self defense skills for another time.
"That's when I met Damian." Marinette smiled, "He helped us and called the GCPD. He showed us around Gotham. Apparently, Nona knows someone in his family and we were staying with them. We hung out all summer. He helped me perfect my forms and taught me some more martial arts. He's into art; he draws and paints! He loves animals! He has so many pets. They were so cute! Damian's amazing!"
"Sounds like you fell hard." Alya laughed, as they slid into Marinette's gush routine.
Marinette nodded, happily.
"How about we make plans to gush more about your boyfriend later? You can tell me how amazing he is then. I gotta go home in a bit." the journalist commented, "Was he visiting family, as well?"
"No. Damian lives there." Mari replied.
"Wait! What?" Alya shouted, "The boy straight up leaves his family to be with you?"
Marinette blushed as she nodded.
"The-They didn't mind. As long as he was happy and-" Mari began.
"Daaaamn!" Alya cried, "Well, Adrien's an idiot, but I'm glad you're happy."
Marinette hugged her friend. It felt good to tell her what had been going on.
Marinette pulled away, excitedly, from her friend as her phone began to ring. Alya took a peek and saw that it read 'My Dove'.
'Must be her name for Damian.' Alya smiled to herself.
"Go ahead and answer it. I should get going anyways." she spoke, picking up her bag.
"Hey, Dami." Mari answered.
"Hello, Angel." he responded.
'So cute!' Alya fangirled.
"Did your call go okay?" Marinette asked.
"Yes. My father wants me to look for a place to reside." Damian stated.
"That's reasonable." his girlfriend spoke back, as she opened the door.
"I was thinking, Angel, maybe, I could find us a place." Damian said, taking a shot in the dark.
"Us?" Marinette asked, pausing at the top of the stairs.
'Did he just ask her to move in with him?' Alya wondered, stopping on the stairs.
"I'd…have to ask my parents. I'll call you in a bit. Alya's heading home and I'm walking her out." Marinette continued.
"Okay, Angel." Damian spoke, before hanging up.
Alya hesitantly walked down the stairs.
'Marinette isn't really considering moving in with him, right? She does seem just as smitten as she was with Adrien, though. I wonder if she have their kids' names picked out.'
"Are you-" she began to question.
"Maman." Marinette started.
"You're not on the phone with Damian?" Sabine questioned, confused.
'They must have a schedule.'
"I will be in a bit. Alya is heading home, but Damian had a question for me." she continued.
"Oh?" Sabine asked, "You know he is always welcomed here and you're allowed to go on dates, as long as homework is done."
Tom nodded in agreement as he placed the fresh bread out.
"Bruce wants him to get his own place. Um…..Damian asked me….to move in with him? " Marinette mumbled out, but the message got across.
Alya watched as Tom and Sabine took in the shocking announcement.
"Maybe, we should talk to him." Tom suggested.
"I can call him." Marinette said.
"Now." Sabine demanded with a smile.
"Okay." she shrugged.
Marinette dialed her boyfriend who picked up immediately and made it a video call.
"Dami, my parents wanted to speak with you." Mari spoke, as waved to him.
"Of course, Angel." he answered, before she turned the camera.
"Marinette said your father wanted you to find a place?" Sabine asked, starting off slow.
"Yes." Damian answered.
"What kind of place?" questioned Tom.
"A studio if I live by myself, but I have asked Marinette to move in with me. If she agrees, I'll look for a three bedroom." he spoke, without hesitation.
"Why?" asked her mother.
"For privacy. We would both have our own room, that locks, and Marinette would have a sewing room for her to work in." Damian stated.
"Awwww." Marinette gushed, "That's so sweet!"
"We'd prefer if we could speak to your father when he isn't busy." Sabine commented.
"Lunch tomorrow?" suggested the young Wayne.
"Yes, Son. That's a good time." Tom spoke, paling.
"Bye, Mari." Alya waved, walking out the door.
"Bye, Alya." Marinette waved, as she headed back upstairs.
'That boy done fucked up!'
Alya walked up to Adrien and Nino the next day and slammed her lunch on to the table.
"You done fucked up!" she shouted, pointing to the blonde model.
"What?" he questioned.
"Is this about Mari's boyfriend?" asked Nino.
Alya turned to her boyfriend and spoke, "Babe, I'ma need you to translate for me."
"What?" Adrien asked again.
"We're going from girl talk to mansplaining to idiot." Alya commented.
"Hey! That's not fair!" Nino spoke up in his best friend's defense., looking at Adrien's sad face.
"Oh! You'll be on my side in a minute!" she declared.
"Adrien, you sent so many mixed signals to my girl, you forced her to confess." Alya began.
"What?" Adrien questioned.
"You, " she stated, pointing to her boyfriend, "need to teach your boy some boundaries."
Nino looked between his girlfriend's glare and his best friend's confused face.
"How bad?' he asked.
"Badly!" Alya shouted, "Adrien, you cannot just go up to a girl and…cuddle with her!"
"You guys do it." he pouted.
"We're dating! Yeah; I'll hug Mari, but I won't do it for more then a minute, unless one of us are upset about something." Alya confessed, "Do I cuddle with you?"
Adrien shook his head.
"And there's a reason for that! You're my friend, but there's also a limit on what you can do to a friend." she began to explain, "If I suddenly started to cuddle you, what would you think?"
"That something was wrong?" the model asked.
She nodded at the answer. "Anything else?" she questioned.
"Something happened to Nino?" he spoke up, confused.
"What if….I said 'no' and that I just wanted to hold you?" Alya asked, "Does that make you uncomfortable?"
"Well….you're with Nino and I don't see you that way." he replied.
"What do you think that everyone else would think?" she pushed.
"That I was helping a friend?" he answered, confused.
"No!" she said, abruptly, "They would think I was cheating on Nino, with you."
"How often were these cuddles?" Nino asked, butting into the conversation.
"Enough for him to kiss her on the cheeks or slide a peck on the lips and just smile about it." Alya stated, aggravated.
Nino banged his head on the lunch table.
"Okay. I see what I'm working with here." Nino began, "Adrien, remember when we staged that intervention for Chloe?"
Adrien frowned as he tried to remember what Nino was talking about.
"When you realized she had feelings for you." he stated.
"Ooooh. Yeah." Adrien spoke, "That was a weird day."
"You're Chloe." Nino announced.
"What?" the model cried out.
"You became too touchy." Nino spoke, before taking a bite of his sandwich.
Adrien's face paled and he brought his head into his hands.
Why you gotta hug me
Like that every time you see me?
Why you always making me laugh
Swear you're catching feelings
"Here's the issue with that." his best friend continued, "You knew you didn't like Chloe, but she was a friend. You grew up with her and were close, but you had to tell her to back off because you didn’t like her that way, right?"
Adrien nodded in agreement.
"Marinette did like you. Before, you became all….touchy." Nino concluded, making his buddy frown, "She probably didn't mind you touching her. She liked the attention you were giving her."
Nino looked to Alya for help.
With a nod, she spoke, "My girl had no clue what you felt for her. She wasn't sure if she was a friend or like….you're secret girlfriend. So, she confessed."
"That’s what happens when you give someone too much attention. Same reason why Chloe screamed at you for not saying something sooner. You were too nice." Nino spoke again.
"So, Mari really liked me?" Adrien questioned.
I loved you from the start
So it breaks my heart
"Yes!" they shouted.
"Also, you need to work on your rejections." Alya said, before sipping her drink.
"What did he say?" Nino groaned.
"He said 'There's nothing wrong with what we have. We're friends.' Well, more or less." she summarized.
"She remembered?" he whispered, shocked.
"As far as I know, you're her first crush. First crushes tend to be remembered. So those words are something she will always remember and most likely, when she has a daughter who is going through heartbreak, she'll tell them what you said to her." Alya shrugged.
The model groaned, "But she was fine."
"She went home and cried all night!" Marinette's best friend shouted, "She liked you so much that she had your birthday and Christmas gifts ready for next year!"
Adrien blushed, liking the fact she cared that much about him.
"You know what she did?" she questioned, "She threw them in the trash after you broke her heart."
He immediately frowned, knowing he hurt Marinette badly. He didn't like that he had gotten her upset and angry with him.
"Well, now we know how to fix this." Nino smiled.
"Oh, there is no fixing what he fucked up!" Alya declared, causing him to frown harder.
"What?" Nino questioned.
"Mari went on a trip during the summer just to get away from him." Alya sighed.
"Th-That's not true! " the model declared, "She was pulling away, but…. I wanted to ask her to join me for the summer to a tropical photoshoot, but she was already gone. I just wanted my friend back!"
"No! There is sooooo much wrong with that sentence!" the reporter stated, "Nino, remember when everyone thought they broke up?"
"People thought we were dating?" Adrien questioned.
"The whole school!" Marinette's friend cried out, "They were shocked when she showed up with her new boyfriend. People thought she cheated on you or something! You looked like you were about to cry!"
Adrien winced.
"You ran away when she said she dating him." Alya said.
"You did cry then, Bro." Nino spoke.
When you say I'm just a friend to you
'Cause friends don't do the things we do
Everybody knows you love me too
Tryna be careful with the words I use
I say it 'cause I'm dying to
I'm so much more than just a friend to you
Adrien sighed as he heard her song play in his head.
"Back to 'Hell Week'." Alya spoke up, "You told Mari that you were friends, so, she treated you like all her other friends. You lost your touchy privileges and the right to cuddle her."
Nino sighed, understanding where this was going.
"Bro, you told her you were fine with what you had." the DJ spoke up.
"Yeah." Adrien said.
"That you were friends." Nino stated.
"Yeah?" Adrien asked, confused.
"Friends don't do that kind of stuff so she stopped letting you. When did you realize you liked her?" Nino explained.
"When she kissed that guy, in front of me, and she called me 'just a friend'." he said, sadly.
Alya laughed loudly, as his best friend groaned. Alya pointed at him and shouted, "KARMA!!!"
"What?" Adrien asked.
"Do you know how many times people asked you about Mari, either cause they were interested or just curious, and you told them 'She's just a friend.'!" she continued laughing.
"Maybe I can fix this?" Adrien spoke.
Alya immediately stopped laughing.
"You have seen all the Disney movies, right?" she asked.
"Yes." he replied, not seeing how it had to do with their conversation.
"You're Hans in this sitch, right now." the reporter spoke.
"What?" Adrien asked, confused.
"You led my girl around. You whispered all these sweet things, promises, treated her special and when she wanted 'true love's kiss'….you basically said 'If only somebody loved you'."
"No!" the model shouted.
"That guy." Alya continued, pointing in the direction of the bakery, "He's Kristoff. He said 'Fuck everything; I want her!"
"Alya." Nino spoke, hoping to cool the scene.
"He left his family, in the states, to transfer here and be with her, after three months! He called her last night and tried to convince her parents to let them have an apartment together! They literally asked him where he would live. He said a studio, but that if Marinette moved in with him, he'd look for a three bedroom so they have their privacy and she has a place to work. That's why they are over there for lunch and not here now. They wanted to speak with his dad. That boy is trying to wife her up! He's in this for the long haul!" Alya exclaimed, "Face it; you're not getting a second chance."
Marinette quickly ran over to lunch table with Damian not that far behind her.
"Alya!" she cried out.
"So?" Alya asked, eyeing the two.
"My parents said yes!" she yelled.
"They're letting you move in…together?" Adrien questioned.
"On a trial basis." Marinette shrugged, "But yes!"
"Father had no problem paying for an apartment that allows Marinette to feel safe and comfortable." Damian stated.
"How trial?" asked Alya.
"I can stay over Friday and weekends, but weekdays I have to be home. I can still go with Damian afterschool to work on homework and commissions, but we have to eat lunch and dinner with them." Mari smiled.
"You sure it's not too much, too soon?" Nino questioned, earning Damian's glare.
"No." Marinette frowned, "I like the idea. I don't have to worry about being too loud when my parents are trying to sleep and waking them up with my sewing machine. I know I eventually want to move out of the bakery and this is a good way to see if I can handle it."
"I'll look for apartments later today and send them to you to see hat you approve of." Damian interjected.
"I don't mind. It'll be your apartment." Marinette spoke.
"Our apartment, Angel. You deserve a say." he replied, kissing her head.
'Smooth.' thought Nino, 'Yep. My boy is fucked.' as Marinette cuddled into her boyfriend's arms.
"Okay." she smiled.
"Once we sign the lease, we can go shopping together." Damian continued.
'He has no idea what he's in for.' Alya smiled.
"That'll be fun!" Marinette cried, "I don't have any serious commissions right now. I can look up vegetarian recipes and write them down. We can taste test them together!"
'It's like they skipped dating and got married!' Adrien sulked, as Damian smiled at Marinette.
Nino and Alya winced as Adrien rested his head on the table.
Marinette turned to offer them a visit, but saw Adrien face down.
"Adrien, are you okay?" she asked, concerned.
"He ate something from he cafeteria for the first time." Nino interjected.
"We tried to warn him." Alya shrugged, "His poor modeling tummy couldn't handle it."
Marinette frowned, "Make sure a teacher knows, in case he needs to throw up, and maybe have Nat on stand by."
"Yeah. I will, Mari." Nino stated.
"I love that about you." Damian spoke, "You're very considerate of everyone's feelings."
"I know what it's like to be bullied, so I like it when people are happy." Marinette stated, "I'm just more considerate of my family and friends."
You say I'm just a friend to you
Friends don't do the things we do
Everybody knows you love me too
I tried to be careful with the words I use
I say it 'cause I'm dying to
I'm so much more then just a friend to you
A friend to you
A friend to you
A friend to you
'Alya's right; I fucked up.'

let's get covered in flames and play some games with the smoke
@apopcornkernel made this post about enemies AND lovers a few months ago and it IMMEDIATELY gave me MANY ideas. And then what was supposed to be just Vibes ended up being over 8k and historical. Sorrynotsorry
AO3
He finds his soulmate on his birthday.
Having finished a disastrous family dinner, Adrien rises from the table, ignoring father yelling after him and escapes out into the pouring rain.
In seconds, he’s soaked to the bone, and he hesitates on the front steps, wondering if it’s worth going back for his jacket but then he hears the lock click into place and the decision is made for him. Father won’t let him back in until morning.
Not that he had any plans to come home before then anyway.
His hair is plastered to his forehead by the time he  reaches one of his regular haunts on the other side—the wrong side—of town, his teeth chattering in earnest, stopped only by something appearing in his mouth.
Swallowing in surprise, Adrien feels the item slide to the back of his tongue, almost going down his throat and choking him before he coughs, forcing it back up. A group of people skirt around him as they leave the bar, giving him bemused looks while he continues to cough, until he finally hacks out the item into his hand.
A pendant.
Eyes watering a little, he holds it up in front of his face, taking in the colour of the gemstone—the only clue he has to his soulmate's identity.
Not for the first time, he wonders at the practicality of soulmate jewelry appearing in one's mouth, but then, who is he to judge the universe?
The chain glints in the dim light before Adrien curls his fist around it and shoves his hand deep inside his pocket. He knows that shade of blue. He’d have known it was her even without the pendant burning his skin, telling him she’s near.
Lighting up a cigarette, Adrien leans back against the wall, scanning the room for her and finding her sitting at the bar. He’s never met her as a civilian before, though he certainly knows of her. But if she’s his soulmate, why hadn’t he received the jewelry when he’d first become Chat Noir and fought her?
Unless it isn’t Ladybug, but no—she turns to the side slightly and he’d recognise that profile anywhere.
Well. The universe works in mysterious ways. Adrien will certainly never claim to understand them. Taking a long drag from his cigarette, he stubs it out with a sigh before making his way across the room.
“Ladybug,” he greets, sliding onto the stool beside her.
Her shoulders stiffen, though her voice is sugary sweet as she flips her hair and turns to him. “I’m sorry, I think you’ve got the wrong— you !” A scowl twists her lips—coloured a shade of red almost as bright as her suit—and she drops the act.
“Me,” he confirms, bowing his head mockingly. She recognises him of course. He’d expected nothing less.
There isn’t a single girl in this city who hasn’t been warned to stay away from him—and with good reason. After all, Gabriel Agreste may be one of the biggest names in the alcohol trade—and he’s filthy rich to boot— but he’s still Hawkmoth, still has every cop around here on his payroll, can make people disappear with just a snap of his fingers.
Even the most opportunistic man thinks twice before dealing with the Agrestes. Not to mention the fact that everyone knows that one of his sons is Chat Noir, though nobody is quite sure who.
Adrien prefers it that way.
Nobody wants to get caught up in that bullshit. Nobody wants their daughters caught up in it either.
Least of all Tom Dupain—his father’s main competitor in the business. But Marinette Dupain is not the shrinking violet her father thinks she is. He’s seen her swear like a sailor whenever she arrives to fight an akuma, even teaching him a few new words. If they hadn’t been fighting at the time, he’d have proposed on the spot.
“Can I buy you a drink?” Adrien asks.
“What is this?” She's not defensive, but her eyes meet his calculatingly, darting past him to make sure that he’s alone, that she isn’t in any danger she can’t get out of, so he relaxes, feigns nonchalance, making himself as non threatening as possible.
Lifting his shoulder in a shrug, he says “it’s a peace offering, a show of good faith—whatever the hell you want to call it.” He flags down the bartender, raising a brow. “So? Whaddya say?”
He won’t tell her about the soulmate thing. Not yet. But none of their people are here—they’re practically anonymous, just two young people getting a drink together. It’s as close to neutral ground as they're ever gonna get and the night stretches out ahead of them, brimming with endless possibilities.
Eventually, she nods. “Make it a good one.”
***
Green eyes meet blue over the rim of the glass, an invisible tug of war going on between them as they drink from the same glass, lips touching where the others have been. Her presence is intoxicating, more so than the whiskey, and every time her fingers brush his, a thrill runs down his spine, electricity dancing along his nerve endings and he wonders why the bar hasn’t caught fire yet, wonders how the building is still standing around them, hasn’t been reduced to rubble at their feet.
Soon enough, it becomes too much to ignore, and he rises. He’s been to this speakeasy before, knows all about the rooms in the back, and it’s not long before he’s sliding a few notes across to the bartender who hands them a key.
The door barely shuts behind them and he’s already grabbing her dress, tugging at the hem and bunching it up around her thighs. Marinette pushes his suit jacket off his shoulders, fumbles with the buttons on his shirt before giving up and ripping the fabric instead, sending buttons skittering across the floor, deafening in the quiet room.
“That was an expensive shirt, doll,” he breathes over her neck and she laughs, throaty and dark, pinning him with her gaze.
“That’s too bad.”
He goes to kiss her then, to cup her face but she swats him away, taking his hands and planting them on her waist instead. “Keep your hands down here, mister,” her lips curve in a wicked smile “those lips too.”
Rising on her tiptoes, she presses a kiss to his jaw, continuing higher and higher, her breath tickling his skin as she whispers in his ear: “we wouldn’t want you getting any ideas about stealing my miraculous, now, would we?” She bites his earlobe gently, tugging at it with her teeth and dragging a groan out from the back of his throat before leaning back, regarding him with hazy, lust filled eyes.
“Of course not,” he says, tempering his disappointment.
Adrien’s never wanted something as much as he wants her lips right now. He wants to kiss the lipstick from her lips, taste her mouth and feel her tongue against his own, and she knows it. She can see what she’s doing to him, but he sees through her, sees that she wants it just as much and if she wants to play games, well...he’s never been one to turn down a challenge.
Instead, he dips his head, nipping and sucking at the column of her throat, tasting the salt on her skin, letting the scent of her perfume wash over him as he noses the strap of her dress down her shoulder.
Pressing kisses against the exposed flesh, he grins when she clutches at his shoulder, her legs wrapping around his waist, and he stumbles backwards towards the couch, Marinette’s gasps filling his ears like the best kind of music.
Afterwards, he watches her leave in her rumpled dress, gloves clutched in one hand, purse in the other. She pauses in the doorway, looking back at him.
“I’ll be seeing you again, Agreste,” she says, and it sounds like a promise.
He stays, long after she’s gone, pouring himself another glass of whiskey, examining the lipstick print she’d left on the rim of the glass, and he thinks:
Happy fucking birthday to me.
***
They do meet again.
He doesn’t seek her out, but they run in the same circles, frequent the same bars, and once he notices, it becomes impossible to ignore. They gravitate towards each other, neither able to stay away for long.
Soon enough, it’s not enough to spend a single night here and there whenever their orbits happen to collide, but consciously making plans to see each other. It’s lying sated in bed together, limbs draped over each other as they share a cigarette instead of hastily getting dressed and leaving with her scent still clinging to his hair, her lipstick marking his skin.
He learns the planes of her body, memorises the taste of her skin and what makes her come undone beneath his fingers. Still, Marinette never lets him kiss her. He hasn’t tried again since that first time, though the craving for it keeps him awake at night, a sweet ache deep in his bones that never goes away; a thirst he cannot quench no matter what he tries.
He learns the planes of her body, but does not yet know the taste of her lips.
***
“Where’s this one from?”
Propped up on one elbow, Adrien gently traces one of the scars on Marinettes exposed back, feeling the raised skin underneath his fingertips.
“No idea,” lying on her stomach beside him, Marinette watches him lazily. “I stopped counting after that first week of akuma battles. Does it matter?”
“I thought the cure—” he breaks off, suddenly distracted when Marinette sits up, the sheets pooling around her waist.
Rolling her eyes, she reaches out to grab his chin between her fingers, pulling his attention away from her breasts. “Doesn’t work on me,” she shrugs, “it never has.”
He’d thought the miraculous cure only left him scarred as punishment, reminding him that he was doing the wrong thing. His scars are well deserved, but Marinette’s are not
Is this his fault too? Adrien thinks of the soulmate necklace that he always keeps in his trouser pocket, holding onto it like a talisman whenever Marinette isn’t near.
He still hasn’t told her, but now he wonders. If someone else was her soulmate, would her skin be unblemished, all damage reversed at the end of each battle? Is it her connection to him that gives her these scars?
Adrien doesn’t have an answer.
Maybe it's selfish—who is he kidding, it’s definitely selfish—but as he pushes Marinette back down onto the mattress; as he explores her body, kissing her scars and committing each one to memory, he can't help but be glad that they match.
***
In the meantime, they still fight as though nothing has changed. And nothing has, not really.
Father still sends out akumas, Adrien is still his fathers lackey, and Marinette still comes to fight them both.
If there’s a new synchronicity to their movements, a new, more intimate knowledge of how the other moves, they don’t mention it. And if he’s more careful about where he lets his staff land, about the power behind his blows, he doesn’t mention that either.
Nothing has changed. And yet nothing will ever be the same again.
***
Marinette doesn’t figure it out for another month, but when she does, she’s spitting mad-angrier than he’s ever seen her.
She collides with him as soon as he enters the bar, before he can so much as shrug off his jacket, grabbing his hand and dragging him into the back room. The door only just shuts behind them and she’s whirling on him, eyes blazing.
“Why are you going easy on me?” She hisses, poking him in the chest “I haven’t been injured in weeks.”
He raises a brow “and that’s a bad thing now?”
“Yes!”
“Well I’m sorry, but I prefer when a fight is evenly matched.”
That, and every time she stands against him in that red suit, radiating power, seeming for all the world to be invincible...all he can think about is what lies beneath. Of her skin, pliant and soft beneath his fingertips, of the scars that litter her body.
He knows them all now. Knows which ones took the longest to heal and which still hurt her sometimes. What he doesn’t know—what keeps him awake at night, guilt gnawing away at his stomach—is which ones he gave her.
So many years. So many battles. How many of those injuries were inflicted by him?
Adrien will not be the one to add to them, lengthening his list of crimes. He won’t stop the akumas from hurting her—father would get suspicious after all—but that doesn’t mean he has to take part.
And there are other things that distract him
“ Evenly ma—” Marinette almost shrieks in outrage, stamping her foot. “ They always have been!”
“They were,” he corrects her. “Not anymore though.” Stepping forward, he leans in close to whisper in her ear, his breath ghosting along her skin, “it’s not a fair fight when I’m distracted. When all I can think about is your legs around me.” Marinette’s breath hitches and he grins, circling her “when the entire time I’m imagining what your lips might taste like, and all I want to do is stop fighting so that I may kiss you instead.”
Marinette’s cheeks are flushed, her breathing unsteady when he pulls back, but she’s quick to recover and meets his gaze defiantly. “Then kiss me.”
Adrien blinks, his turn now to be taken aback. “What?”
She shrugs, examining her nails nonchalantly. “Kiss me then. Or was that all talk?”
He doesn’t have to be told again.
Surging forward, Adrien cups her face for the first time but he doesn’t take the time to savour it, his fingers already sliding to the back of her head, burying in her hair as her hands fly to his shoulders and capturing her lips with his own.
Kissing Marinette is nothing like he imagined. It’s better.
As her lips move against his, Adrien thinks in a distant part of his mind that it was probably a good thing they waited this long to kiss, because already he is addicted to the taste of her. His tongue swipes against hers and her arms circle his neck, pulling him even closer. Her mouth is intoxicating and he could get drunk off the taste of it, like caramel, like expensive chocolate and strawberries—a forbidden fruit, acquired at last.
***
“You know, I wouldn’t have to keep doing this if-sit still” —Adrien presses down on her hips, holding her in place as he makes the final stitch through her skin and cuts the thread, reaching for a clean rag— “if you didn’t keep taking hits that aren’t meant for you in the first place.”
Marinette rolls her eyes, leveraging herself into a sitting position so that he can bandage her wound more easily. They’d struck an agreement, Adrien promising not to hold back during akuma battles as long as she meets with him afterwards to get patched up. So far, it’s been working a great deal better than doing it herself , especially on days like today.
This injury had been one of the more nasty ones—the akuma’s blade slicing through her side. The only reason it hadn’t gone straight through her belly was because she’d been pushing a civilian out of the way and it had caught her side instead, but the jagged blade had still done a fair amount of damage.
“I’m Ladybug , that’s kind of my whole job. Now if your father’s akumas would stop sending those hits…” Marinette trails off, staring down at him with an arched brow, though the effect is diminished by the hiss of pain that escapes her as he wraps the bandage tightly around her torso.
Adrien’s grin is sharp when he looks up at her through his eyelashes, and once again, she is taken aback by just how beautiful this man is—the sharp angles of his face, his thick messy hair, and piercing green eyes. Beautiful, yes—and dangerous.
He winks at her then, teeth glinting in the low light of the hotel room, “now where’s the fun in that?”
***
Adrien isn’t sure when it shifts.
He’s noticed the change of course. Noticed how they laugh between kisses more often than not, how their interactions are gentler—a fire simmering under the surface instead of consuming them whole.
It’s dangerous, what they’re doing, and yet they can’t seem to kick the habit. What started out as strictly physical, as a way to blow off steam is turning into something else, something he can’t—or won’t —put a name to.
***
There’s no akuma tonight, and Adrien is enjoying the rare moment of peace. In the distance, someone is having a party, the music spilling out onto the street and he finds himself nodding along to the tune when a flash of red—Ladybug—crosses his eye.
Curious, he follows her from a distance, watching as she stops at the docks. His eyebrows rise. The only thing people come here for is alcohol shipments. Carefully, she sets down a large crate atop a pile that was already there.
“Why, Ladybug,” he drawls, stepping out from the shadows. “I didn’t take you for a bootlegger. What will the papers say? Aren’t you supposed to be a model citizen?”
She snorts. “Model citizens can still drink .” Gesturing over her shoulder at the crates, she shrugs. “Papa asked me to drop these wine bricks off during the day and then I forgot. Now’s as good a time as any.”
“Under cover of darkness?”
“ Obviously . Ladybug might drink, but I’d rather not find out what would happen if people saw her contributing to the trade of alcohol.” She reaches behind one of the crates and pulls out a bottle of wine “want some?”
“Drinking debauches mankind, you know,” he remarks and she wrinkles her nose, popping the cork and taking a swig. “Or so I’ve heard.”
“Well then it’s a good thing I’m a woman isn’t it?” She smiles coyly darting out of his reach when he tries to grab the bottle. Taking to the rooftops with him hot on her trail, her laughter echoes around them, a happy joyful thing that makes his heart sing.
Ah, he thinks, catching her round the waist and holding her close. So this is love.
***
Some nights, she’ll sneak Adrien into her bedroom instead of getting a hotel room. It’s a thrill, having to keep quiet, especially when Adrien takes great pleasure in drawing noise from her lips, forcing her to bite her tongue until she tastes blood, lest her papa come investigating.
Marinette is fairly certain maman knows what she’s up to, but she turns a blind eye and Adrien is usually out just as the first rays of sunlight bleed across the sky, his hair like molten gold.
Not this time though.
This time, she wakes to his arm lying heavy across her middle, his head buried into the crook of her neck but it is not a slow awakening.
“Marinette?” Papa knocks loudly on her bedroom door and she jerks up, heart pounding wildly in her chest as she scrambles to put on her nightgown.
“I’m up, papa!”
“Shitshitshit —” Adrien is still only half awake but there’s no time—she shoves him onto the floor. Casting her eyes desperately around for his clothes, she pushes them into his hands and shoos him under the bed before practically launching herself across the room to her vanity, grabbing her hairbrush just as papa walks in.
“Good morning, pumpkin!” papa booms, crossing the room and pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “I just wanted to see you before I go.”
“Go…?”
Papa nods. “We’re running a raid on one of Agreste’s warehouses and I’ll be on the floor with my men when it happens.”
“Oh,” Marinette’s voice is faint as he continues to talk about the raid. She forces a bland smile, acutely aware of Adrien underneath her bed, listening to their conversation.
After what seems like an eternity, papa leaves, ruffling her hair as he goes, laughing at her attempts to swat him away.
“Goodbye, papa! Good luck!”
Hardly daring to breathe, she listens carefully, waiting for papas footsteps to recede, going further and further down the hall until she hears the low murmur of conversation between her parents in the kitchen.
Only then does she relax, dropping her hairbrush onto the floor with a thunk. “You can come out now.”
Adrien emerges from beneath her bed, but she can’t meet his eyes and he doesn’t say anything either. Still, he pecks her briefly before leaving, fingers brushing against her jaw and she leans into the touch, pretending that she does not see the conflict brewing in his green eyes.
Not for the first time, she wonders what she is doing with her enemy. Wonders at the risk she is taking, not just with her own life, but her papas as well, and all those in the city who she protects.
She’s playing with fire as if she’ll never get burnt, but even if she did, she thinks she’d probably dust herself off and jump right back into the flames, as long as Adrien was there to greet her.
***
Adrien mulls over the information on his way home, trying to decide what to do. Is it not his duty to protect the business he will one day inherit? It’s in the family's best interest. It’s in his best interest.
He could tell father. He should do it.
But he won’t.
***
The raid goes off without a hitch. Her papa is unharmed—though bewildered at her sudden affection, but it is Adrien who receives the majority of it after a week of staying away from him, too worried about the raid to do anything but stay home all week.
“You didn’t tell your father,” she says afterwards, pouring out their drinks and passing him a glass. They’re naked, the sheets tangled around them and her mouth is red and swollen from his kisses, but the way his fingers close over hers, lingering for a second before drawing away seems somehow more intimate, and she feels a flush rising on her cheeks, looking away and throwing back her drink in one gulp. “About the raid. Why?”
Adrien shrugs. “I could hardly warn them about something I’d never heard about,” his voice is laced with nonchalance and she rests her head on his shoulder, letting him toy with her hair as he speaks. “I wasn’t there now, was I?”
He doesn’t elaborate, but there’s no need to. The implication is clear and Marinette feels the last of her doubts slip away. He will not betray her.
It is this thought, the absolute certainty with which she believes it that brings the  final defences around her heart crashing down, and finally, finally , she lets herself define what it is that makes her heart beat faster whenever Adrien is near, that has her laughing so hard at his stupid jokes that she snorts wine out of her nose. that has her searching a room for him as soon as she steps through the door, restless until she finds him.
She laughs then, twisting around to kiss him full on the lips, burying her hands in his hair and pressing herself closer to him, so close she can almost feel his quickening heartbeat underneath his chest
Love, she thinks. It’s love.
***
“What would you do,” Marinette asks conversationally, drawing circles round and round on Adriens chest. Though she feigns nonchalance, there’s a slight tremble to her voice that she hopes he doesn’t notice. “What would you do if I said I love you right now?”
Adrien stills.
“Are you saying that now?”
She avoids his eyes “maybe.” She’s wanted to say it for a while now, the words simmering below the surface, always on the tip of her tongue whenever she sees him,  but she can’t help but be afraid. Afraid of what might come after.
“Well,” Adrien sounds amused, putting a finger gently under her chin and tilting her face up to meet his. “I’d say I love you too.”
***
“Keep your eyes closed,” Adrien says, one hand on the small of her back, leading her up the final flight of stairs.
There’s only one door on the landing—precisely why he chose this place—and he fumbles in his pocket for the key, almost dropping it in the dark.
“Adrien,” she whines, stomping her foot adorably and he laughs under his breath, pressing a quick kiss to her brow before unlocking the door.
“C’mon doll, just through here,” he guides her to the middle of the room, moving to stand in front of her, “go on then, you can look now.”
Marinette opens her eyes slowly, hand flying to her mouth as she turns on her heel, taking in the apartment they’re standing in.
“Adrien…” she meets his gaze, eyes wide “what is this place?”
“It’s ours,” he says, taking her hand. “I uh...I bought this place for us. No more hotel rooms.”
It’s small. A little cramped too, and the wallpaper is too dark, which they’ll have to change, but moonlight filters in through the large window and she looks at him like he’s bought her a mansion, like it’s the most beautiful place she’s ever seen.
“No more hotel rooms,” she repeats, a smile playing about her lips. “I like that.”
***
In the weeks that follow, they practically move in together. Instead of frequenting the bars in the city, and partying all night, she’ll make her way to the apartment where more often than not, Adrien is waiting for her.
They start to bring things in, a few books here, some records there. One night, rather than tumbling into bed, they get drunk and rip off all the hideous wallpaper. The next night, Adrien brings paint with him and they make the place their own.
It’s almost enough to make her forget everything. Almost, but not quite. After all, they never meet out in the open-the risk of either of their father’s men seeing is too great-can never be seen together
There are nights when she will stay up, running her fingers through Adrien’s hair as he sleeps beside her, and wishes that they could run away. When she sees the dark circles under his eyes, and he tells her of his father’s latest cruelty, of his frustration at being run ragged every day, she worries that their story will not have a happy ending.
Sometimes, she looks at her friends, at Alya and Nino—the open affection they share—and feels jealousy rise up inside of her like a raging monster crying out that it’s not fair!
On those nights, when she feels with such certainty that they will not have a happy ending, she settles for holding him tightly; for loving him in these secret moments in the darkness, and hopes that it will be enough.
***
Adrien gets the stone from the soulmate necklace set into a platinum band, gets their initials engraved on the inside.
He gives it to her on the anniversary of that first night, so long ago—almost a lifetime—finally letting go of his secret, and anxiety churns in his gut as he leads Marinette over to the mirror in their bedroom.
Standing behind her, he wraps his arms around her waist, burying his face in her neck. Marinette giggles, reaching back to tangle her fingers in his hair. “We didn’t have to come all the way over here to cuddle you know.”
“No, I—” Adrien swallows, his mouth suddenly dry. “I wanted to show you something.” Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out the small box, noticing distantly that his fingers are trembling as he opens it, showing her the ring inside.
“Is that…”
“Look,” he turns her to face the mirror again, holding the box up next to her eyes. “It matches. I didn’t tell you before, but…”
“We’re soulmates,” Marinette breathes, eyes sparkling brightly. Carefully, he slides the ring onto her finger and watches as she admires it, turning her hand this way and that, watching the stone catch the light.
He still can’t quite believe that she’d accepted it so readily. After the way he’d agonised all week, with the ring weighing heavy in his pocket with every day that passed, the sheer joy on Marinette’s face makes the breath catch in his throat.
To keep that look on her face, he’d do anything. He’d throw a lasso around the moon and pull it down for her, if only she’d ask.
She’s his soulmate . Adrien’s lived with the knowledge for a year now, but he still struggles to comprehend it sometimes. That she is his, that the universe chose them for each other.
It’s far more than he deserves, and he has to resist the urge to kiss her, to sweep her off her feet, hold her in his arms and never let go.
Marinette has no such reservations however, and she throws her arms around him, kissing him, slow and deep. “Let’s go away,” she says. “Just for a weekend. Somewhere that nobody knows us.”
How could he say no?
***
It’s exhilarating, being out in broad daylight.
She’s used to spending her nights with Adrien. Meeting him in dingy bars and dark alleys, hotel rooms with the curtains pulled closed, and though she’s seen him in the early mornings, when the sunrise spills through the window and tells them that their time together has finished, but it is an entirely different thing to see him outside.
Outside, where the sun glints off his blonde hair, transforming it into spun gold; where she discovers new shades of green in his eyes and is blinded by his smile, cheerful and bright in the daylight.
He’s never been more beautiful to her than he is now.
Adrien seems to be similarly affected, if the way he looks at her is any indication, and Marinette feels as though she is glowing from the inside out, basking in the heat of his attention.
In two days, they do everything that they couldn’t do in a year. They go to the park, and to the beach, holding hands—the action feeling somehow more scandalous than any of the other things they’ve done together—without fear of being seen.
She wears the ring he gave her and they pretend to be newlyweds and go to the fanciest restaurant in town. They go to a dance hall and dance the night away, then stumble back to their hotel in the early hours of the morning, hands fumbling with each other’s clothing, as he captures her mouth with his, their kiss a hurried clash of lips and tongues and teeth as they tumble into bed together and he makes her come undone beneath his fingers.
It’s the lightest she’s ever felt, and Marinette knows that she will cherish these two days forever—the glimpse that she got into the life of normality they might lead, if only things were different.
She never wants it to end.
But it does end, and thing’s aren’t different. In fact, things are worse.
Because when they return, the city is on fire.
***
It’s easy to follow the trail of destruction behind the akuma. Easier still to get the corrupted object and purify it, but as the miraculous cure sweeps over the city, putting out flames, restoring levelled buildings and knitting everything back together, Marinette feels the weight of her responsibility settle on her shoulders.
She’d felt so much lighter with Adrien, when they were away, but that could never last. Not when she has a duty to the people, when she is the only person who can set things to rights.
As she looks out over the healed city, Marinette turns away, frustrated tears slipping down her cheeks.
She can never leave again.
***
“And where have you been?”
Adrien pauses in the entryway, meeting father’s thunderous gaze. Félix stands beside him, though for once his brother doesn’t look smug at Adrien being in trouble.
And he’s definitely in trouble.
Father could hardly care less about one of his akumas nearly burning the city to the ground, but he does care about what his sons are doing. Or not doing, in this case.
That’s what he doesn’t yet understand. Father has a pattern and he sticks to it, never once deviating, no matter what. It was why Adrien had chosen this particular weekend to go away, knowing there was no possibility of an akuma attack, knowing that he would not be missed.
Squaring his shoulders, Adrien drops his bag by his feet. “Out.”
In three quick steps, father strides across the hall, his hand cracking across Adrien’s face, making black spots dance across his vision. “Did you have permission?”
Adrien remains silent.
“Answer me!”
“No,” he bites out. “I did not.” His cheek stings, but he resists the urge to touch it, clenching his hands into fists.
Abruptly, father’s expression clears, and he turns on his heel, motioning for Adrien to follow behind him. Silently, he does, ignoring the spike of worry in his gut in response to the troubled look Félix sends him.
Once they get to his office, father settles behind his desk, lighting a cigarette for himself before speaking again.
“Did you know,” he starts, almost conversationally “that Tom Dupain has a daughter? She’s around your age, I’d say.” Father pauses, shaking his head with a smile and the sight makes Adrien’s skin crawl. “Oh, what am I saying—of course you know her. Quite well too, from what I’ve heard.”
Adrien’s blood runs cold.
“I didn’t want to believe it of course,” he continues “but I did a little digging, and you know what I found?”
Numbly, Adrien shakes his head.
Opening his desk drawer, father pulls out an envelope, shaking out the photographs inside. They spill out across the desk, incriminating him. Incriminating Marinette.
Hadn’t they been so careful about being seen? Taken every precaution they could? But no, Adrien realises. Once he’d gotten the apartment, they’d grown lax. He’d gotten cocky, thinking that nobody would see them there.
Except someone had.
The photographs are of the two of them, exiting the apartment building. Marinette’s head is tilted up to meet his and he is cupping her cheek in his palm. In any other circumstances, he’d think it was a beautiful photo, but all he feels right now is horror, churning away in his stomach and robbing his ability to speak.
“You thought you were being very clever weren’t you? With that little apartment you got together.” Father is watching him carefully as he speaks, and Adrien struggles to school his expression, to seem unaffected. From the slight tilt of fathers lips, he is unsuccessful.
“I’ll admit, I wasn’t entirely convinced that this wasn’t something simply...carnal. Something I could turn a blind eye to. Until this past weekend.”
Bile rises in his throat as suddenly, Adrien understands. The akuma attack hadn’t been a spur of the moment thing. It was a test. A test that he had failed.
“She’s distracting you. From your duties to this family, to our cause .” Reaching for the nearest photograph, father looks him directly in the eye, stubbing out his cigarette on Marinette’s face, the paper smouldering and blackening underneath the cigarette.
“Break her heart,” he says “or you’ll be picking up the pieces of her broken body instead.”
***
Adrien kisses her as soon as she arrives, his hands warming her face, drawing her closer and deepening the kiss. Giggling against his mouth, Marinette wraps her arms around his neck, pressing herself flush against him.
“Hello to you too,” Marinette murmurs, pulling away slightly. Her brow furrows when she sees the expression on his face, her smile dropping. “Adrien…?”
His face is shuttered, the shadow of a bruise on his cheek but when she lifts a hand, reaches up to touch it, he flinches away from her. “Adrien?” she asks again, swallowing down her unease “are you alright?”
“I am now that I have these.” Avoiding her gaze, he steps out of her embrace, holding up a hand and opening it to reveal something small in his palm.
Marinette blinks.
Something round. Two somethings—a pair— round and dark.
Something familiar .
Hands flying to her ears to confirm what she already knows, she laughs shakily. “Very funny, Adrien. Give them back.”
“No, I don’t think I will.”
“N —” her voice rises with panic “Adrien this isn’t a game!”
“It is, actually,” she stands, frozen to the spot as he circles her, his lip curling with contempt. “Did you really think that I meant any of this?” He laughs mockingly, leaning in to whisper in her ear “it was all just a game , so that I could get these silly little earrings from you.”
“No…No you’re lying.” Marinette stammers, even as her heart sinks, as she feels it crack in her chest. And still, she doesn’t want to believe it, can’t believe it. “Adrien, stop this, it isn’t funny anymore.”
He doesn’t respond, simply shakes his head and clicks his tongue in disapproval, walking slowly past her to the door.
Marinette doesn’t think, just acts, launching herself at his back and wrestling the earrings from his grasp. She doesn’t notice how easily he relinquishes them, aware only of the blood rushing in her ears, adrenaline coursing through her veins and she runs .
She doesn’t look back, doesn’t stop, not until she gets home, locking herself inside her room. Hands shaking uncontrollably, she struggles to put the earrings back on before giving up, throwing them across the room with a frustrated yell.
Stupidstupid she’d been so stupid to let herself fall for his tricks so easily. Had he laughed at her? When she had swooned into her pillow, recounting his affections, his words, had he gone home and mocked her with his father and brother, laughing at how quickly she had fallen into his lap?
The shattered pieces of her heart cut and slice at her insides until she can hardly breathe, agony unlike anything she’s ever felt before spiking through her; and as tears blur her vision, falling faster than she can wipe them away, Marinette half expects her eyes to be leaking blood.
***
He doesn’t see her for an entire month.
Adrien doesn’t particularly remember that first week after he breaks Marinette’s heart, the days blurring together in a constant haze of drunkenness and grief, but he does remember that he never saw her, even from a distance.
It’s better this way, he knows. Now Marinette is safe and at least father doesn’t know she is Ladybug, but he cannot forget the betrayal in her eyes, how he saw her heart shatter as he destroyed them in the worst possible way.
And yet, he can’t stay away.
“You’re not wearing your ring.”
It’s the first thing he notices, his eyes alighting on her hand as she exits the bar. The second thing he notices is how tired she looks. Her eyes are ringed with dark circles and her mouth a scarlet slash standing out in stark relief against her sallow cheeks.
And still she is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Marinette falters at the sight of him and then she freezes, squaring her shoulders and levelling him with a glare. “Why would I wear it?”
“Look, I just—” he doesn’t know what to say, and he watches helplessly, unable to reach out to her, acutely aware of the people father has watching him, following his every move.
“Save it,” she snarls, “I don’t believe a single word out of your mouth anyway.”
He sighs. “I deserve that.”
“You deserve worse.” Marinette starts off down the street, barely sparing him a second glance as she passes by him, her arm brushing against his slightly, sending a frisson of electricity running down his spine. “Actually, no—” she spins on her heel, eyes blazing. “I need to know—why did you do it?”
“I loved you. So so much,” her voice breaks and he yearns to reach out to her, to pull her into his embrace, hold her close and never let go. “With all my heart.” Marinette continues “and you...did you never love me at all?”
If I answer that question, then your love will pale in comparison , Adrien wants to say. He opens his mouth to speak, to say yes! Yes I loved you! I still do, but no words come out.
Marinette’s eyes fill with tears. “I guess that’s my answer then.”
This time when she leaves, she doesn’t look back.
***
Breathing heavily, Marinette spins her yo-yo as a shield, ducking out of the way of the akuma’s fist and circling around him. Stepping back slightly, she watches him warily, waiting for her next opening.
A quick movement catches her eye, a dark blur just behind the akuma and she struggles to maintain her focus, keeping the yo-yo aloft.
The fight has been going on for over three hours now, and her strength is flagging, the sight of Chat Noir enough to sap the last of her energy. She can’t fight him as well. Not now.
Maybe she could face Adrien—in fact, it would be preferable—but ever since that night, his brother had taken over Chat Noir’s duties, and Marinette doesn’t know his movements, his fighting style like she does Adriens.
She doesn’t have time to learn either. Not when the akuma—a butcher with an unlimited arsenal of deadly tools at his disposal—throws several sharp knives one after another in her direction.
Cursing Hawkmoth under her breath, she dodges the knives, leaping backwards and propelling herself onto the closest rooftop, narrowly avoiding the baton Adrien’s brother swings at her as she passes by him.
Struggling to catch her breath, she wipes the blood from her forehead, crawling over to the edge of the roof and surveying the street below. They’ve  emptied now, most people having retreated into their homes after the first few injuries. Some still linger, accidentally wandering into the battlefield and she has to keep an eye out, making sure to shepherd them away quickly before they get hurt.
She’s never seen so many civilian casualties in an attack before, and as she watches the akuma throw a giant cleaver, she is suddenly fiercely glad for her miraculous cure, even though she can feel her ribs throbbing in pain, knows that she will be bruised black and blue later.
Unbidden, Marinette remembers the reverent way that Adrien would trace her scars, would kiss them and ask about each one and she bites back a sob at the memory. She has new scars now—ones he can’t see, ones his brother gave her, and he will never know about them.
Part of her is glad. But every time she bandages herself after a fight, when she lies awake at night, in too much pain to sleep, she finds herself pretending-just for a moment-that it was real, that Adrien had meant it all, that the warmth he had provided her with-the safety- wasn’t just a farce.
She cries herself to sleep those nights.
Shaking her head, Marinette brings her attention back to the street below, her mind racing as she tries to figure out a plan of attack. Her thoughts are too jumbled though, and below her, the akuma roars once more, growing more agitated by the second.
There’s no time for a plan. Not if she wants to end this fast.
Swallowing hard, she gathers her courage and jumps down from the roof.
***
Adrien watches, his heart in his throat as Marinette narrowly avoids being thrown backwards like a ragdoll, getting out of the way just in time to only be knocked off her feet instead.
She stands, wobbling slightly and he knows it is only a matter of time until she is completely unable to fight. Not that it is much of a fight anyway-it’s been going terribly almost from the get go.
Father certainly knows what he’s doing. For the past week, each akuma has been more deadly than the last, and Adrien has watched from the sidelines as Marinette fights on two fronts—the akuma, and Félix.
He thinks of her scars, of how the cure cannot save her, how she is so close to losing now, growing weaker by the second. She won’t be healed, she can’t come back from this, I have to —
His brother vaults past where Adrien is standing. “Félix!” he hisses, reaching out and yanking on his baton.
Félix jerks back with a glare, his voice irritable. “What?”
“Give me the ring. We need to swap.”
“Are you mad?” Félix snorts. “Father’s angry at you. I’m not letting you get me in trouble too.”
“To hell with what father thinks!” Adrien yells “give it to me!”
Félix hesitates, sensing the seriousness of Adrien’s demand. Behind them, a sharp cry rings out and his head snaps back, seeing a young woman fallen on the street, her leg twisted at a sharp angle, clearly broken. Marinette’s seen her too. So has the akuma, reaching into it’s arsenal of weapons ready to take advantage of her distraction. Nonono —
Whipping back around, Adrien glares at his brother.
“Now!”
***
Looking around wildly, Marinette pulls the civilian's arm over her shoulder, half dragging, half carrying her off the street, searching for a safe place to leave her.
“Ladybug! Over here!” A voice calls out and she sees someone step out from the building in front of her, taking the young woman from her arms and hurrying back to safety.
Turning back around, she misses the look of horror that crosses his face.
And then she sees it.
Hurtling towards her—so fast that she can hear it whistling shrilly—is a giant honing steel moving so fast that she knows, even as she ducks, that it will hit her.
The whistling grows louder, a deafening scream filling her ears and she squeezes her eyes shut, bracing for the impact.
It never comes.
Instead, there is a sickening squelch , a muffled grunt turning into a guttural, pained yell. Opening her eyes,  she stares up at Chat Noir—not Félix but Adrien —standing with his back to her.
Standing impaled on the honing steel in front of her. Protecting her.
Scrabbling backwards, she watches as he falls—almost in slow motion—to his knees, a shocked gasp escaping from his lips when she reaches for him, lowering him carefully onto the ground.
Green eyes meet blue and a relieved smile breaks out across Adrien’s face, transforming his pained grimace.
“A -Adrien —” she stammers, clutching at him, careful not to jostle the steel embedded in his gut. “Why—what—”
“You deserve worse,” her own words echo in her mind, taunting her, and she lets out a sob, almost a scream, “I didn’t mean it. I didn’t—I didn’t mean—” She can’t hear anything over the blood thundering in her ears, isn’t aware of the battle raging around her as the entire world fades away to nothing, narrowing down until they are the only two people left.
“I know,” Adrien says, as if reading her mind. “It’s okay, I know. But know that...” He coughs, ignoring the blood that splatters his chin “that I didn’t mean it either. What I did.”
Marinette’s breath freezes in her lungs. “You—”
“Lied,” he nods, but the movement causes him to hiss in pain. “Sorry...I’m so sorry,” he wheezes, “I had to protect you. From my father. I had to—I had—”
“Shh, Adrien, no it’s okay,” she shushes him, falling silent as he grasps her hand, moving it so that it lays flat over his heart, where she can feel the faltering thump of it beneath her palm.
“ I love you,” he breathes, “I always have. I didn’t say it enough, but...” his fingers tighten almost painfully around hers, voice turning plaintive “you do believe me?”
“Yesyesyes—” Marinette nods madly, and with a flash she drops her transformation, uncaring of who might see her, desperate only for him to hold on, to show him—
Her fingers are slick with his blood, and it takes her several tries before she successfully pulls the chain out from under her dress, yanking it over her head. “See?” she shows him the ring, threaded through the chain “I never stopped wearing it, see?”
“I’m...I’m glad. Keep it for me, won’t you?”
The gemstone glints in the dying sunlight before dimming suddenly and she stifles a sob, knowing what comes next.
“Hey...hey—” breathing heavily, he moves with great difficulty, lifting his hand to cup her face “come here, doll,” she lets him guide her down until their faces are barely an inch apart. For a long moment, he simply stares at her, his green eyes roving over her face as though trying to memorise it.
Impulsively, she moves to kiss him then, one last time. It is meant to be a chaste kiss, but Adrien’s lips move against hers with a fervour that surprises her, his fingers tightening in her hair and she clutches at him, desperate to imprint every sensation of this last kiss into memory.
Pulling away, she sees the ghost of his signature smirk tugging at his lips, even as his breathing becomes more laboured “a kiss to remember me by, eh?”
Surprised, she laughs through her tears, stilling as carefully, he wipes them away, his thumb stroking her cheek. “No more tears, okay? No more tears.”
Pressing her lips together, Marinette nods jerkily, laying beside him and resting her head on his chest. With great effort, Adrien brings his arm around her shoulder, holding her close as he is able to and she closes her eyes, imagining they are back in their apartment, lying together in bed, the sheets tangled around their waists, the sun creeping along the floor through a crack in the curtains.
Marinette doesn’t hear the battle end. She doesn’t see his transformation fall, or his kwami drift to sit beside his head. She sees nothing, hears nothing as her tears mingle with his blood and she lies still, counting every last beat of his heart until finally, there is nothing left to count.

Damn, You’re Looking Fine.
To my utter delight, my crack writing Fuck. I’m Gay. got a good reception. I was not expecting to write more for this AU/pairing. But why not? I got some ideas and a computer to write them down on.
So this fic is the took-a-while-to-put-together sequel. It’s focused on the downfall of one certain Liar-la, Damian wooing Adrien with all the flair and romantics as his Chaton deserves, and Adrien being a blushing hot gay mess.
P.S. Damian’s formal way of talking is an utter pain to write but hilarious to read.
P.S.S. Creative liberties were taken. Again. I just feel this needs to be mentioned.
.
.
.
So Status Update:
Adrien and Damian are definitely dating (It is totally official. Told you ya boi got game).
Adrien still calls him Hot-And-Sexy from time to time much to his utter mortification (He can’t make himself stop. Please send help). And Dami gets amused by it every single time, that arrogant smug jerk.
Marinette still puts the fear of god in Damian and he is wary of her. She feels very proud about that. Adrien wants to facepalm.
Fuck Gabriel Agreste.
And Lila Rossi is still a bitch.
Adrien and Marinette were made aware about Damian’s alter ego —well mostly because he is utterly terrified of Marinette’s seemingly sweet (icy) smile she gave him when she politely asked how he obtained the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous and partly because of Adrien’s pouting kitten eyes.
They truly were a pair to reckon with.
.
“I am not sure why the Justice League dismissed your concerns and pleas for assistance. So I am taking the initiative. My name is Damian Wayne, the son of Batman and the current Robin and leader of the Teen Titans.”
He’s a superhero too?! And it’s Robin!!! One of his favorites!! Can you hear him internally squealing in excitement?
Adrien bit his lip to keep from fanboying right then and there. But a slight pink hue spread across his face.
“You’re not lying.” Mari has gotten pretty good at deciphering through people’s bullshit. Whether it’s because she is now a Guardian or because Lila’s bitchiness made her a human lie-detector remains unknown.
Damian took it in stride. “I am not.”
“Paris is still our city.”
“I am only offering my assistance.” He won’t barge in on their superhero duties to the city. He has more class than that.
Mari didn’t have to look at Adrien to know his decision.
She smiled, a bright genuine smile. “Then we’re allies.” Before her eyes gained a spark of mischief and her smile turned teasing. “Hot-And-Sexy.”
“Marinette!” Adrien immediately covered his blushing bright red face with both hands, utterly mortified.
His sister was evil. E. V. I. L. And why is Damian smirking and looking so smug? Fuck! He even makes that look completely hot. Curse his Adonis genes. And curse his teenage hormones.
He regrets introducing the two of them together. What a pair they make. Truly a couple of fur-midable terrors here.
.
Back to the matter at hand, Marinette is able to ensure that Hawk Moth and Mayura will never be out again and another akuma won’t be made. She already made sure that the miraculous were better protected.
Damian has enough evidence to put them behind bars for their crimes but Marinette wanted to go through it and make sure that Adrien won’t suffer the repercussions of having a villain for a dad so they held onto it until they figure out how best to protect their sunshine.
.
Ah Shit.
“Duusu? Where are you?”
Did Gabriel lose the miraculous again?
But when he looked into the last place he left it, he groaned. Fuck. His brooch was a fake again.
He knew he shouldn’t have made a miraculous fashion line and had replicas of the miraculous jewelries made. It was his most popular items to date. He has gotten lot of praises for getting the details just right and capturing the essence of each miraculous holder. No surprise there. He deals with them on a daily basis. He should get the details fucking right.
It’s a wonder he only came up with a line because there was talk that he was becoming obsolete with no new ideas coming forth and if there is one thing that Gabriel Agreste isn’t, it is being obsolete.
The line was just a joke, a parody of the heroes and villains if you will, but apparently people like it. Ladybug and Chat Noir were the most popular obviously (he should’ve seen that coming to be honest). Hardly anyone buys Hawk Moth or Mayura and he is left with boxes of fake brooches.
It is annoying.
Especially since he keeps fucking misplacing his miraculous.
.
Adrien felt like he could be a Disney princess and just skip his way to school and sing for the world to hear.
Now that the Butterfly miraculous were safely with Marinette, he doesn’t have to worry about another akuma. He could just die happy right now. His dad doesn’t have a hold over him anymore. He doesn’t have to put up with Liar-la anymore. But if they put up a fuss? Well, worst case scenario is he becomes a Dupain-Cheng.
And he doesn’t mind. He’s already an honorary one.
And if that somehow doesn’t work out (which he highly doubts), Damian offered to make him a Wayne.
.
Françoise Dupont High School experienced a shock that morning. Specifically Ms. Bustier’s class.
When they saw Adrien and Marinette walking in class with arms intertwined, laughing and smiling together.
What the actual fuck?
Did they cross into an alternate universe? Marinette is a nasty bully and Adrien’s a pure sunshine child. Why would they be acting like they were the best of friends?
Lila glowered darkly when she saw them walking towards the back and sitting at the same table. Didn’t Adrien care about what his father thinks? Doesn’t he want to still be able to go to school?
She bit her lip and turned on the waterworks, her eyes close to bursting into tears. She made herself be the very picture of a pitiful woe-is-me victim as she cried out in a hurtful and betrayed tone. “Adrien, what are you doing with her? I thought we were close friends.”
The sheep class instantly catered to Lila, pointing their fingers at the pair.
Alya, her biggest supporter, led the charge as always. “Adrien! What do you have to say for yourself? How could you cheat on Lila like this? And with her?”
Adrien narrowed his eyes at his former friend. Bitch, how dare she implies he was in an actual relationship and had feelings for that harlot.
Wow.
He has been spending way too much time around Damian.
"Yeah, bro!” Kim said, raising his voice. “How could you do her dirty?”
“Okay guys.” Adrien cut in. “I don’t know where you heard that but me and Lila are not dating. Like at all.”
“Please.”Alya waved him off like he didn’t know what he was talking about (he was highly offended at the notion he didn’t know what his heart yearns for). “We all know you have feelings for Lila. You’re just in denial over them.”
Bitch, what?
Is no one catching onto his chaotic gay vibes here?
And oh, how his fragile little heart was betrayed yet again when he saw Nino supporting his girlfriend. He still couldn’t believe the first friend he made all by himself was a part of their rabid pack. He deeply mourned the loss of such a great friend in the midst of that deceiving fox’s claws.
“How many times do I need to say it?” At this point, Adrien was about to throw hands. “I don’t like Lila like that. I feel nothing but pure spite for her. Also, me and Marinette are not dating if anyone’s wondering. We’re just really good friends.”
“But Marinette’s a big bully.” Alix piped up, a hard edge in her voice. “She treats Lila horribly.”
“Marinette didn’t do anything to her. Rossi is lying.”
“Oh Adrien.” It was Mylene of all people who spoke up. “Did Marinette get to you with her lies?”
He was done.
Completely and utterly done.
He looked over at Marinette who shared his exasperation at the class’ antics.
Adrien already said it before. But it bears repeating.
Lila Rossi is a bitch.
Luckily (or maybe unluckily), that was the moment Ms. Bustier chose to step in the room and class started.
When the teacher’s back was turned, Adrien pulled out his phone and proceeded to spend the rest of the time alternating between taking notes and texting with Damian.
They were currently at the stage of their relationship to be sending animal pics and memes back and forth, with a few puns added from time to time.
He really does have the perfect boyfriend.
.
They cornered him after school.
One: Rude.
And two: Double rude.
He was excited to meet Hot-And-Sexy (daMn iT! It’s Damian! Get it right brain) at the bakery and spending time with his two most favorite people in the world (Tom and Sabine don’t count because actual parents don’t have a ranking).
His former friends were looking all concerned and everything because they somehow collectively came up with the idea that Marinette actually brainwashed him to believe Lila was evil.
The fucking irony.
They actually had the audacity to say that Marinette —sweet and honestly badass Marinette— was no good and just wanted to use Adrien to get ahead in the fashion industry (as if Mari actually needed him for that). He shouldn’t be around her. Lila was a much better person to keep as company.
Adrien laughed in their faces and left.
.
Onto happier events, Adrien was having a blast hanging out with Mari and Dami. His boyfriend (he still can’t believe he managed to score such a hottie!) fit right in the everything-that-matters siblings’ dynamics.
They were in Mari’s room. Adrien was cuddling with Damian on her bed. And Mari was at her desk working on fashion designs.
“So what’s your family like?” He played with Dami’s hair. It was so soft. Like what the fuck. It is so unfair.
Damian thought about it for a few seconds. “My family is a bit...crazy. We drive each other insane every other day but at the end of the day, I have no doubt they have my back as I have theirs.”
“You guys sound close.”
“We were not always. We had an extensive amount of issues to work through before we actually bonded as a true family.”
It was quiet for a minute until Damian casually said. “I would appreciate it a great deal if you can make time to visit Gotham for the summer.”
Adrien stopped playing with his hair to look at him with wide incredulous eyes. “Summer’s only two months away.”
“I am aware.”
“You really want me to meet them? Isn’t it too early?”
“I met yours the day we started dating.”
True but....
Adrien averted his eyes. “Do you think your family will like me? You guys fight criminals and my dad’s a villain.”
Damian put his hands over Adrien’s and gave them a light squeeze, making his Chaton look back at him.
“My mother is a villain and I was raised as an assassin. Yet despite of that, my father accepted me. And I am fairly confident he will do the same to you. Mon amour, you have a pure and selfless heart. You are a better person than I am. I have no doubt that my family will love you from the start.
“Are you being fur real right meow?” Adrien tried to lighten the atmosphere but he could feel his eyes tearing up.
"I wouldn’t lie to mew.”
He let out a small laugh, wiping his eyes. How did he ever get so lucky to land such an amazing guy? “You always know the purr-fect thing to say.”
“We get it you’re in love. It’s amazing. Now stop it with the puns.” Mari rolled her eyes, utterly exasperated at these idiots who just ignored her and pulled out even more cat puns. “You have got to be kitten me.”
Before she noticed what she said and groaned in faux despair. “Oh you two are so dead.”
Adrien stuck out his tongue playfully. “You can’t catch me. I got a handsome knight in shining armor to protect me.”
Damian interlaced their fingers. “Always, mon amour. I’ll protect you from everything like your wicked father.”
“Does that make me the dragon here?” Mari joined in. “Cool. I can breathe fire and torch people. Too bad I can’t do that to a certain liar.”
“Liar-la is totally the witch here.” Adrien said before thinking for a few seconds. “Does this make me the princess?”
“Well, knights always have to save the damsel in distress.” Mari said.
He frowned before crossing his arms indignantly. “Dami, I love you more than Plagg loves his stinky cheese, but I’m no damsel in distress.”
Damian rolled his eyes. “Tt. Of course not. You can destroy things with a single touch. It would be not be in my best interests to downplay your abilities.”
Adrien relaxed and beamed a sunny smile. “Good. Remember that.”
“Mon amour, I look for an equal as a partner, not some weak spoiled harlot that can not defend their self.” Damian placed a flower crown (that was just sitting on Marinette’s nightstand, must be one of her projects) on Adrien’s head. “Having said that I do believe you are a prince that deserves all the love and care in the world.”
And oh my.
Adrien can feel his face burning scarlet and his heart almost bursting at how sweet this incredible, conceited Adonis was.
He was falling in love with Damian over and over again each time they meet up.
“You deserve love too, Dami.”
And sweet, caring Hot-And-Sexy (Ah, fuck it. He will never grow out of that) placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
Oh dear, he didn’t know his face can burned any redder.
He could almost hear Mari cooing in the background.
And in case anyone was wondering, Tom and Sabine adores their everything-that-actually-matters son’s boyfriend. Damian Wayne seems like a responsible young lad. And he makes Adrien really happy which is a major plus. Anything that makes their son happy is good in their books.
.
Lila was not at all pleased.
Why was Adrien suddenly hanging out with Marinette? Yeah, he doesn’t buy into her lies but she was confident he will be lured into her charms. Why wouldn’t he be? She was young and way more beautiful than a baker’s daughter. He was supposed to be hers.
She and Gabriel are going to have a talk about his rebellious son.
Except when she arrived at the Agreste mansion, Gabriel was apparently too busy to see her.
He was too occupied with searching through boxes of fake miraculous to find Duusu to bother with her.
“I don’t have time for you.”
“Excuse me?!”
She was aghast. How dare he speak this way to his biggest supporter —well, besides Mayura and Nathalie.
“You’re excused. Now leave the premises.”
Before the door shut in her face and she was left fuming, her face an unflattering angry red.
.
Being Damian’s boyfriend, Adrien has come to learn that Damian does nothing by halves. Including asking him out on a date. And the actual dates themselves.
Today as the sun fell down and night came about, Damian and Adrien were taking a stroll in the park. It was relaxing and it was nice. They talked about everything and anything.
Adrien did not think Damian planned anything more.
But he really shouldn’t underestimate the son of Batman.
Because when the last of the sun’s rays were gone, Damian led him to a gazebo strung up with beautiful lights giving the whole place an ethereal feel. And with the bright moon out tonight, it looked like fairies dancing in the garden.
He didn’t notice Damian pressed play on his phone and classical music filled the air.
He definitely noticed Damian bowing with a flourished and holding out his hand with a charming smile. “May I have this dance, Chaton?”
Adrien would have to be a huge fool to say no.
“I’ll loved to.” He placed his hand in Damian’s and let the Adonis lead him in a simple waltz.
This was his life.
His life was one big sappy romance novel. And you know what, he doesn’t care if it is. Between dealing with his shitty father and Liar-la, this kitty deserves some happiness.
.
It was a scene from one of those Disney fairy tale movies Adrien used to watch as kid. The magic. The love. The romantics. He felt like Cinderella and wished this night will never end, that the clock will never strike midnight. He just wanted to stay in his Prince Charming’s arms forever.
Under the starry night sky, the lovebirds danced to their heart’s content and when another song ended, Damian tilted his head down to place a tender kiss on Adrien’s lips.
“I harbor a great deal of non-platonic affections for you, mon amour.”
“I love you too, Hot-And-Sexy.”
.
What the fuck?!
Seriously.
What the actual fuck?
Lila was simply walking home after her disastrous meeting with Gabriel (She was still not over how he simply dismissed her like she was nothing. How dare he).
When she saw them.
Adrien and some guy (she’s pretty sure that was a guy) dancing in the park. She can feel that disgusting jealousy just burning in her veins, a cold anger thrumming underneath.
Things were not at all going her way.
First, Adrien is back to being friends with that Mari-whore. Then, Gabriel ignores her. Her. And now, she is seeing her Adrien in the arms of someone else.
Oh this will just not do.
She took out her phone from her pocket and snapped a couple of pictures, making sure Adrien can clearly be seen. She didn’t care too much about the other guy. He’s probably just another pretty airhead Adrien knew through his father. He’s not important.
A cruel smirk appeared on her face at the thought of the perfect revenge. Adrien was going to have a rough time at school tomorrow. After all, he should’ve known better than to make a move against her.
.
“Seriously?!”
“Wow.”
“I’m sure there’s an explanation for this.”
“Yeah. Adrien is obviously gay. That’s the only explanation.”
“....Maybe not? There could be another reason.”
Lila had watery eyes and a sad frown on her face but inside, she was fucking smiling like a Cheshire cat. She made sure to be at school early so she can show the class the picture of Adrien’s little date last night. Who —predictably— were shocked at their sunshine child being with a guy and made plans to confront him about his supposed sexuality.
She glowed at the thought of her plan working. This will teach Adrien to know his place or become a social pariah like his little friend Marinette.
“I thought Adrien had feelings for me.” Lila wiped the “tears” from her eyes. “How could he lead me on like this when he’s been gay all along?”
Alya —predictably— comforted her. “I’m pretty sure he’s just confused. He doesn’t know what he’s feeling.”
“I’m sure that’s it.”
The pair didn’t notice Juleka and Rose glaring at them.
.
Damian was not at all pleased.
He was rightfully angry.
How dare that poor sense of fashion taste trollop tried to shame his mon amour for being gay. How dare she try to say he was simply confused and didn’t know any better. How dare she defame his reputation because he holds nothing but spite for her person.
How dare she.
As Adrien’s boyfriend and future husband, it is his duty to correct this travesty and defend his Chaton’s honor.
.
When the Damian Wayne, youngest son of Bruce Wayne, appeared at Françoise Dupont High School, you know that people are gonna stare and talk.
When he headed towards the courtyard where Adrien and Marinette were sitting at, boy are things going to get juicy.
Lila and her followers who were sitting a bit father from the outcast pair were utterly confused. They could possibly get Adrien knowing such a super hot celebrity but for him to be on good terms with Marinette too? How inconceivable. Absolutely flabbergasted.
“Hey Lila didn’t you tell us you knew him and his family?” Max brought up.
“Uhhh....” Lila knew she dug herself in a corner here. She never thought that the Damian Wayne would ever visit here. At this second rate school.
“Well, let’s go, girl!” Alya exclaimed. “I’m sure Damian just hasn’t seen you. That’s why he didn’t walk towards you.”
Before proceeding to practically drag Lila to where Damian was talking with Adrien and Marinette.
Lila, on the other hand, was cursing out Alya in a bunch of different languages in her mind while trying to come up with something to dig herself out of this mess. If they talk to Wayne, the class will realize she was lying all along.
She was not going to lose control of her kingdom like this —well, not without putting up a fight.
But when they and the rest of their classmates walked close to the trio, they were shocked when they saw Marinette playfully punching Damian in the arm.
“Okay. How the hell are you so close with Damian Wayne?” Straight off the bat, Alya was on the offense as she glared at Marinette as if it was Mari who did something wrong.
Damian answered before the bluenette could. His face was impassive and his glare cold. “I’m Ms. Dupain-Cheng’s top model for her fashion business.”
What?
Even Lila was taken aback at the news. She knew that goody two shoes likes designing but she didn’t think anybody would actual buy her stuff. She didn’t think a Wayne would like her stuff.
She could feel her fists clenched. How dare Marinette steal the spotlight again.
“I’m also Adrien’s boyfriend.” Damian continued casually as if that wasn’t a huge bombshell.
Everyone’s minds screeched to a halt.
They knew about the possibility of Adrien being gay since Lila showed him on going on a date with an unidentified but clearly male person yesterday. But they didn’t think there was actually something there.
Lila could feel her anger clouding her mind. Adrien was supposed to be hers. He was her ticket to fame and fortune.
“And what about Lila? Aren’t you guys best friends?” Alya put her hands on her hips. How could Damian just ignore someone he is close friends with but give Marinette all the attention? Lila deserves better than that.
Damian was unamused. “I don’t know her.”
“Yeah, you do.” Alya ignored Lila’s gestures to stop talking. Lila was too shy about her achievements and she was going to have her amazing best friend’s back. “She’s the one who helped your family out multiple times.”
“She did not. And I am appalled that you believe I would know a harlot like her in the first place.” Damian’s face twisted with disgust as he glanced at Liar-la like she was a mere insect. “Please. I have class and dignity.”
“Take that back!” She screeched. “You are so rude.”
“Are you honestly going to lecture me on my rudeness when you plebians are being hypocrites?”
“What? I’m not a hyprocrite.”
“Lila Rossi is a pathetic liar who begs for attention like street dogs beg for scraps. She never once saved Jagged’s cat nor does she help out with green charities. Lastly, she is not on close terms with myself nor with my family.”
“No! You’re lying!”
He raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “Ok then. Look her up on the internet. If she is as grand as you lot seem to think, she should have articles dedicated to her. Show me proof of her actions that isn’t your subpar blog and I will give you an exclusive.”
Alya’s eyes gleamed at what should be an easy challenge. But when she pulled out her phone and typed Lila’s name and what she did in the search engine, her smile disappeared.
She spent the next few minutes scouring the net for anything, any mention of a Lila Rossi that wasn’t on the LadyBlog.
She found nothing.
Lila Rossi was a fucking liar all along. And Alya and the rest of the class believed her.
“We tried to warn you.” Marinette said in a soft voice. But anyone who knew her knew she was trying to hold back her laughter.
“Marinette,” Rose cried out as she realized the class has been total jerks to the one person who always had their backs. “We were horribly wrong. Can you ever forgive us?”
She shrugged. “I forgive you. But this doesn’t mean we’re friends again. Because we’re not. Seeing how easily you drop me for that liar without even looking for any kind of proof hurts and I’m not eager to be friends again. Maybe in the future but not right now.”
“That’s goes ditto for me.” Adrien added his two cents.
Their former friends classmates wore gloomy expressions, utterly devastated at ruining their friendship with their Everyday Ladybug and Sunshine Child.
And with that, Adrien and Marinette left the courtyard, with light hearts and heads held high.
Damian shot the class a razor sharp grin. “Well, it’s been nice to meet you.”
Everyone knew he meant anything but.
“I always knew teenagers were prone to be foolish imbeciles. But seeing the collective stupidity of you people today made me realize that the bar can in fact be lowered.”
.
Adrien was fucking ecstatic.
Elated. Overjoyed. Jubilant. Drunk on happiness. All the synonyms associated.
Because Lila was finally exposed. The class realized what utter assholes they have been. His father will receive his due (soon according to Mari and Dami).
He was happily humming a tune as he swung his and Damian’s intertwined hands back and forth.
He was entirely grateful that Damian showed up to school today. Although he was a bit mean for Adrien’s taste.
But oh man. Payback was so sweet.
He smiled giddily.
Mister Hot-And-Sexy definitely earned himself a kiss.

A Moment in Time-Ch 7
MASTERPOST
Marinette was the first one to arrive at the bakery, much to her relief that evening.
After warning her parents that she had friends coming to join her, the teen hurried up the stairs to prepare for the evening. Mullo and Plagg flew off, and Marinette paused in the kitchen to pull together a snack tray, before following the Kwamii up the stairs to her room.
She made sure that while it was hidden, the box was now closer to her reach. Then, she pulled up a word document that had been idling in her computer for the past few months. The document labeled Ways Gabriel Agreste has Abused His Son.
Pulling up her email, Marinette opened her thread from the emails with Tim. Since she had the time, she may as well respond to his email.
 Mr. Drake Wayne,
I can’t believe that I included Hawkmoth in that email! I must have been more tired than I thought. Hawkmoth has been terrorizing Paris since I was 12 years old. In the last four years, the man has possessed everyone from a toddler crying over a candy bar to a man grieving his wife’s death. My city has faced real-life myths and legends, as well as children who just wanted a nightlight. Hawkmoth will target anyone who has a negative emotion. Your ice cream dropped? You are an ice cream monster. You fail a test? Suddenly you are giving everyone passing grades. The worst part is, everyone who dies will be brought back, but the person who is possessed won’t remember anything. Many people have moved out of Paris, and most of the remaining citizens have taken up meditation and smaller forms of magic to protect themselves. Although the news won't admit it, our population had dropped quite a bit. Inside the city itself, there are about 1.9 million people now. Many have moved to areas nearby that have proved outside of Hawkmoth’s range. As far as we can tell he only strikes in the city proper. Before you ask, yes, someone is fighting him. Lady Tyche, Apate, and their new member Princess Meli will free the person of the possession and restore the city. They wield magical objects. It's theorized that Hawkmoth also wields a magical object and that’s why they’re the best suited to combat his creations.
It interests me, that you mention bringing this to Batman’s attention, but not the Justice League? Do you, by chance not trust them? I have heard that many people in Paris have called them for help, nothing has come of it, obviously. In my opinion, people don’t actually believe something is happening unless they experience it themselves. For the most part, people who come into Paris will hear rumors of Lady Tyche in passing, but since Princess Meli is new they haven’t heard of our other hero. To even most Parisians, Apate is a legend. To those who know her, she is a vigilante who will not hesitate to end a situation or clean up what the Lady and Princess won’t. Most of the time, however, she is known for following Lady Tyche’s lead. I’ve heard theories that it's because she is more violent and has a darker power than the other two. Once, I heard that she wants to protect the City of Lights, and won't use her powers unless necessary because of it. Some people think that when she uses her powers she spreads bad luck to the people nearby. On the other hand, many think that Lady Tyche leaves lingering good luck.
Sorry for the info dump, there is a lot going on in Paris right now.
Thank you for keeping an eye on Nona and Jason. Jason, as I am sure you know, can be impulsive. Nona isn’t much better. When he was here, Jason mentioned that you tend to be busy most of the time. He was surprised that you had responded so quickly as well, actually. I wanted to add that I am honored!
Thank you for the offer, but I don’t want to pry too much, if Jason is willing to part with the information, I really would like to know about their tike together. Please do not force him though. I am sure there are other ways to know what is actually going on. I do have to ask, what do you mean by ‘good spar’? do you two spar together often? If so, I do hope Jason doesn’t hurt you too often. I know that he usually put his all into everything he does, and I know that he is quite the fighter when he wants to be.
The slander is the work of a jealous girl in my class. She is of no consequence in the long run. I was surprised to find out (through you!) that the Bruce W on my commission list was for your family. Actually, don’t tell the rest of your family, but it’s not just the suits. There are a few gowns in the mix as well. Your family butler, I believe his name is Alfred, is sending me a list of measurements in the next several days.
Jason and I have known each other for as long as I can remember. If you want, ask him how we met. He will have a more concise memory since he is five years older than me. The best I can say right now is that he was the person I relied on for many years before we got separated. Since then, I think we both have grown, but I can still see who he was when he was 12 underneath everything. As I said, Jason would be the one to ask for specifics. Maybe after you ask him about how he knows my Nona?
Have a good day,
Marinette Dupain Cheng
P.S. of course I put energy drinks in my coffee! Is there any other way? If you ever want one of my recipes, let me know! I have a whole collection at this point.
 After she had sent the email, Marinette glanced over her room again to make sure everything was ready for when her friends arrived.
As she was getting up to fidget with the pictures, Chloé burst through the trap door. Behind her, Aurore followed at a more sedated pace.
“Mari! Hi! What is this? And why is she here? I thought you two weren’t talking anymore, remember? This is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!” Aurore raised an eyebrow at the other blonde before smiling at Marinette.
“your parents sent us up with some pastries. I think they were a little thrown off by Chloé and I arriving at the same time.” Here, the girl set the plate she had been holding that couldn’t be seen behind the more aggressive girl. “they mentioned about making sure to remind you that the past is past?” here, the two giggled as Chloé looked between them in confusion.
“Whatever!” she huffed, before flouncing over to Marinette’s chaise and settling herself there with a sniff. After the other two had stopped giggling, Marinette raised an eyebrow at Aurore in question. With a nod, the Ladybug holder turned to smile at Chloé.
“So, Chloé. We know that you and I are not exactly close, but there is something that Marinette and I wanted to bring you in on.” Here, she looked back at Marinette with a smile. Before she could continue, however, the heiress started to interrupt.
“if you two are-” Aurore’s phone started to ring, making the three pause as the girl turned to answer the call
“Mireille? Hey!” she turned and waved to Marinette, motioning her to continue with the conversation while she finished with her friend.
“No, Chloé. It’s more complicated.” Marinette leveled her friend with a look. “plus, if this was the same thing as two years ago, I would have told you earlier. You know that.” as Marinette soothed her friend, a small part of her brain reminded her that there was something that she hadn't told the girl. something that her friend would kill her for.
“Then what on earth is going on, Mari? You know it makes me nervous being out of the loop.” Marinette snorted pointedly at her friend.
“We weren’t trying to keep you out of the loop, C. it’s just…Aurore and I just realized what was going on. We wanted to make sure that we were making the right choice before going further. You have proven that we have.” Marinette paused, watching her friend. When the blonde still looked confused, the younger teen just smiled. “would Pollen like a bowl of honey?” Chloé bilked before laughing.
“Mari, dear. Who on earth is Pollen? Have you made a new friend I didn’t know about?” an indignant voice that Chloé was unfamiliar with responded.
“My Kitten hasn’t, but you have Buzz.” As Aurore finally got off the phone and turned back to the conversation, Chloé let out an ear-piercing shriek.
“OH MY GOD MARINETTE DUPAIN CHENG NO FUCKING WAY!” then, Marinette was falling backward under the force of her best friend tackling her in a hug.
 After Chloé had calmed down, the three girls spent the next four hours talking. The first 15 minutes had been about how the original two had handled living a double life for four years. After that, the girls turned their attention to the document that Marinette had pulled up.
The rest of the time was spent overanalyzing the spending Habits of the top four people on Marinette’s suspect list.
 When asked why she had the list and not Aurore, the duo explained that many times while Lady Tyche was out patrolling and being a beacon of good luck, Apate would be behind the scenes. Many a night, office buildings would register a break-in before the figure would turn into literal shadows. The security guards who would be sent to investigate would be faced with a missing pane of glass that had suspiciously black edges on the frame. Most of the time, when Apate was ready to leave, if anyone was around, they would lose their senses for the time that it took for her to leave. After, they would think that had simply blinked before getting on with their life.
Using this method, the protectors of Paris were able to cross many off their lists. In the few times, they had entered private residences, the break-in would happen when the family was away.
 Of course, Marinette’s hacking skills had come into use, as she had taught Aurore the basics a few years back. Unknowingly, the two had set their alter egos up for success.
The duo had spent more nights than they could remember curled up on a rooftop, laptops booted up. They would spend hours at a time sitting there with paper strewn around them as they raced to hack in and access as many schedules and bank statements as they could. Although it was highly illegal, the two had spent almost as much time working on the internet crossroads to narrow their such as they had fighting Akumas.
 Chloé’s awe at the work the two had put in showed. When they asked her to help them continue to narrow down the list she agreed. When she saw the first document sitting open on Marinette’s computer, the shock on her face lasted all of ten seconds before the heiress was helping her teammates dig into the private life of one Gabriel Agreste.
 When Marinette had said goodbye to her friends, Aurore left to patrol and Chloé went home with the hope that she could access more sensitive information from her father's unlocked computer. When the other two had raised concerns about it, the teen had waved them off. Apparently, the mayor was much laxer on the security of his work computer than he should be.
 After climbing up to her room, Marinette closed down all of the programs that she didn’t need to leave running overnight. As she closed out most of her browser, the teen hesitated, before she clicked into her email. Sitting there, waiting for her was an email that had been received in the middle of her session with her friends.
Miss Marinette,
I have to say, you know quite a bit about these heroes that have been fighting in Paris. I started looking up the topics that you mentioned but couldn’t find anything. After several attempts, I used a VPN to make it seem like I was in Paris. That made the entire thing open up like a wrapped present. I must say I am surprised that it hasn’t made its way out of Paris yet. Well, I was surprised, until I was reading through some tourist guides. It seems that the new phrase is what happens in Paris stays in Paris. That, and very thorough censorship on public media. How have you made it this long in that city, without losing it completely?
I was able to flag down Signal, who is known as the Daytime Bat, and passed along what you had sent me. I included my own research as well, so don’t be surprised if they go to investigate further in the near future. Well, I guess you wouldn’t hear of it, but if they show up, it is defiantly because they are concerned.
I wouldn’t say that the JL is not trustworthy, but I trust Batman’s Gotham team more. Maybe it is the familiarity that comes from being rescued frequently from hostage situations. I trust them, and they know that I won't give them information just for the hell of it.it doesn’t help that the JL tends to make a massive mess when they come through town. I would rather they stay far away from me, thank you very much.
So, it turns out that both you and Jason are very cryptic. I don’t know how much you know of the time between when Jason was 13 and his 16th birthday, but he said that he was with a friend of your mother’s? He said that you would know her as Aunt Talia and that your mother was always the more levelheaded of the two. This was…confusing for many reasons, one of which is that your Aunt is my little brother’s bio mom. Anyway, Jason said he was with your Aunt when he met Gina, in ‘this little place in Canada.’ He mentioned an island and a bay that sounded a lot like the Bay of Fundy. If you have any idea why your grandmother would be out there, then we can puzzle out how they met. As for how they got separated, I am afraid that this time it had something to do with a chef? Something about him chasing the two of them out of town with a cleaver? Apparently, this chef is another relation of yours. Marinette, I must be honest, you have quite a few deadly relatives. you aren’t going to come through the screen and slice my head off, will you?
This afternoon, I got a call from the police station, by the way. Apparently, Jason and Gina had been busting drug gangs in their free time and there was some incriminating evidence. I am not quite sure how they got into it, but they have been issued a warning by the local Bats. You may be seeing this chaotic duo again in Europe sooner than either of us would like if this keeps up.
As to the sparing question. Jason, as I believe you are aware by now, likes to keep fit in a variety of ways. Bruce made sure all the children under his roof could fight and protect themselves. This means that while Jason may be the biggest in the family, and I am considered the smallest, I can still beat him in an even spar if I put some work into it. For the most part, I prefer not to use the same tactics that Jason uses, and since he and I tend to train at the same time, we see each other but don’t usually go head to head. I have to say it was quite a rush to beat him earlier today.
Alfred mentioned something about housing a guest who would be making sure that the family was presentable for the Gala. That wouldn’t happen to be you, would it? If you do come to Gotham, may I show you around? I know that having an experienced guide in any city makes things much easier.
On that note, I am going to make the assumption the Bruce didn’t know who he was commissioned, so I will warn you that he may ask that you get a background check done. Up until this point, he has only communicated with you through lawyers about the press fiasco. he probably won’t make that connection for a while yet.
Have a good evening,
Tim DW
P.S., of course, I would like the recipes! Any that you send would be greatly appreciated! My family thinks that I rely too much on coffee and not on sleep. Do you have that problem much? It has gotten to the point that I have a few shops that I go to that the rest don’t know I like. It’s the only way to get the sweet nectar of coffee! What is the worst thing you have done to procure caffeine? I hope your family helps you more than mine does. They say that if they didn’t monitor my caffeine intake, they would be enablers.
 Marinette giggled at Tim’s frustration with her brother. It looked like the two of them were going to keep it a secret a while longer. Although, when she did go for the Gala, and the fittings the week before, it would only be a matter of time before the Waynes figured out the two were related. After all, the features of Willis Todd are hard to hide.
Still smiling, Marinette made a note to tell the others that Batman had been notified.
Glancing at the time, Marinette reached blindly for the cold cup sitting nearby. The grey cup that was covered in pink sparkles read ‘I can’t talk right now. Leave a message after the squeak!’ The cup was one that Marinette had made after she started to wield Mullo, the mouse Kwamii, more.
Mullo and Plagg had been instrumental to her while she had been investigating the many businesses of Paris. Since then, the teen had kept the mouse around as an alternate form of defending herself. While the public had not been introduced to Little Mouse, the quiet vigilante had done quite a bit of work for the City.
As Marinette sipped on her current super coffee, (cold brew, two shots of espresso, one pump of vanilla syrup, and a mocha monster. affectionately named Minnie Mouse) she made a list of her tasks for the night. If she could send off the sketches of what the Waynes wanted for their gala pieces, then she could do the basic list of things she would need to get at the fabric store the next day. After making her list, she could start on her design for her own dress. Glancing back up to her computer, Marinette froze. She had to email Tim back at some point as well.
As she was standing to retrieve her camera and sketchbook, Marinette’s personal email dinged. Glancing over, she realized it was an email from Tim. Again. With a frown, the teen opened the message. The email was in no way close to the formal communications the two had been trading.
MARINETTE
I AM SO SORRY. WHEN THE WHOLE PRESS THING HAPPENED, WE ALL TALKED ABOUT IT AS A FAMILY. JASON WASN’T THERE AND I JUST FOUND OUT WHY. HE AND BRUCE WERE YELLING AND I WASN’T EAVESDROPPING BUT I HAD GONE TO TALK TO B AND HE HAD BEEN YELLI GAT JASON ABOUT SEEING A SISTER.
JASON WAS YELLING AND TOLD B TO SHOVE OFF BECAUSE AND I QUOTE-
“MARINETTE WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY FAMILY EMERGENCY AND IF VISITING HER WOULD GET HIM IN TROUBLE THAN HE WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAMILY.”
YOU
ARE
JASON’S
SISTER
HOLY SHIT
-tim
 Marinette’s brain came to a screeching halt as she read the email once, twice, three times before letting out a string of curses. Dammit, Jason.
She collected her thoughts and pulled up an open template to respond to the other teen
Tim. Please tell me you have taken a deep breath and have had time to reflect since you send the last email.
Yes, Jason is my older brother. Well, half-brother. My mother died when I was young, and since she had been having an affair with Willis Todd (a horrible man, by the way.) she had put his name down on my birth certificate. Catherine definitely never liked me, but she put up with my presence. Multiple times, Jason and I would run away or end up on the streets because of the fighting that would happen in that house. One day, I ran when Jason wasn’t around and was caught by CPS. Up and away I was sent to France whit the couple who had found me when I ran away from CPS. Jason thought I was dead until that scandal broke almost two months ago. That’s why he vanished. He came here to visit me. This was the first time I have seen him in 10 years. Neither of us was exactly thinking clearly.
It doesn’t surprise me that your father knows that Jason and I are siblings. However, it also wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t make it very far down that path. Jason thought I was dead for years. I kept tabs on him, but that doesn’t mean he knew about that until he got over here.
I am going to respond to your last email as well.
Yes, the current plan is for me to arrive in Gotham. About a week before the Christmas Gala. That way, I’ll have time to do any last-minute fixes. I would love to have you show me around your city if that offer is still open. I haven’t been to Gotham since I was 6 years old, so I don’t remember much of the place.
-Marinette
Ps, I’ll send those recipes soon. I don’t think you want a super coffee tonight. 😊
 After hitting send, Marinette sighed. With luck, she could have her list done by dawn. What was one more super coffee, after all?
HIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!
ok ok ok ok
i have been really excited to post this one, and actually almost posted last night! Self control? don’t know her!
this one i think is really important because Tim and Mari aren’t super formal in their talking anymore. also...who can guess what went down with Aurore and Mari???

Carapace frowned as he patrolled with someone at his side.
It was weird to go on patrols with someone else, if he was being honest. It wasn’t unheard of or anything, Chloe and Rena were both perfectly happy to go on patrols with others, but it wasn’t something that Carapace found himself doing unless Master Fu made him.
That wasn’t what had happened, though. Ladybug had missed her patrols for the previous night because Chloe had turned off all her alarms and neither of them had any nights off until the next week…
So they were going out together.
It was kind of awkward, if he was being honest. He didn’t know how to talk to her, not really. He’d already been kind of unsure what to talk about when he had known her persona because they were so different… but now that he knew that that wasn’t her actual personality, somehow, it was even harder to talk to her.
He glanced at Ladybug out of the corner of his eyes as they hopped from roof to roof.
This was a mistake, he ended up missing his footing and it was only thanks to his plates that he didn’t fall four stories.
(He still fell an entire story before he caught himself and his plates weren’t exactly soft, but it was still better than splattering on the pavement.)
Ladybug hovered over him with a slight smile threatening to make its way onto her face.
“You alright?” She asked, offering him a hand up.
The green glow of his plates made her look like a ghost in the nighttime darkness, and the flying didn’t help, but he forced himself to ignore this as he took her hand.
She carried him up to the roof. He could have technically made the jump, but if she was offering the help he wouldn’t say no. Besides, everything still kind of hurt.
“I think I’m dying,” he joked, getting rid of the floating plates with a vague wave of his hand.
The smile widened slightly and he couldn’t tell for sure but he was pretty sure she rolled her eyes. “Mhmm. Seriously, though, do you need a minute?”
He flexed his shoulders and decided that, yes, maybe he should give himself a few seconds to rest. They sat down together on the edge of the rooftop, their legs dangling over the side. After a whispered ‘Lucky Charm’, he was handed a water bottle.
He looked down at the water bottle in his hand and raised his eyebrows at the spotted red and black water.
“Is this safe to drink?”
“Yeah, it’ll just feel a little funny in your throat,” she said.
He gave her an incredulous look and she clicked her tongue, taking the water bottle from his hand and taking a mouthful of water.
He watched to make sure she swallowed and then drank it as well… and, wow, the words ‘feel a little funny’ were a fucking understatement. He may as well have been drinking glue for how it seemed determined to stick to the lining of his throat.
But, hey, it was technically still water. It tasted like nothing, at least. He managed to get it down.
He sent her a grimace and she brought up a hand to try and stifle her giggles.
“What? Have I been poisoned?” He asked, anxiety and whatever the hell he just drank gnawing at his stomach.
“N-no.” She cleared her throat and forced herself to relax. “It’s just… sorry. I forgot how bad the first time is.”
“How often do you eat and drink your lucky charms?” He asked, a little horrified. He could understand trying to drink it one time out of curiosity, but continuously doing that was just… insane.
“When I want to,” she said nonchalantly. “You get used to the consistency. Everything tastes like the food I ask for, so I can get any food I want for free.”
He swirled the remains of the ‘water’ in the bottle with interest. “Is there anything you can’t make?”
“It looks like I can only make things I… can conceptualize, if that makes sense? Like… I can’t make sci-fi stuff or a living thing because they’re complicated, but I can make a car and stuff like that.”
He stared at her. “You’ve made a car?”
“I had to see if I could!” She said defensively, her face doing it’s best to match the red of her mask (and succeeding).
He was about to make her prove it, because he couldn’t imagine a car coming out of her yoyo, but there was a flash of bright light in the distance.
Their slight smiles dropped at the sight of it and they scrambled to their feet, wordlessly taking off in the direction of the explosion.
~
They watched the right wing of the Agreste mansion erupt with almost white light before it was blown to smithereens. He made a wall of plates in front of them to block them from the debris.
“... sucks to be him,” said Ladybug.
Well, that wasn’t the reaction he’d been expecting from Ladybug of all people. Sure, Rena had warned them that Ladybug was going to start showing her actual personality, but it was just so… different than he was used to her being.
Still, he couldn’t help but agree. He may not know why exactly she didn’t like Gabriel Agreste, but he had his reasons. On top of being a terrible employer to Marinette, which was already a giant red flag, Carapace had also met Adrien Agreste. After Paris’s resident sunshine child had been akumatized he’d vented to Carapace about his father (and it seemed like Adrien was even holding some stuff back) and, well, let’s just say Carapace thought that Gabriel deserved way worse for what he did to him --.
“Wait, fuck, Adrien. We should probably help him,” said Carapace.
Ladybug didn’t move. “No, he’s fine. He’s in Tibet at some rich kid private school.”
“Oh. Good for him.”
They watched another room explode in silence. It wasn’t a problem, really. It seemed that whoever was akumatized (the assistant or bodyguard, he assumed) was only really concerned with destroying the mansion. They could just leave, really, it would be a shame if no one got there on time…
He sighed. “We’re going to have to do the right thing, huh?”
Her shoulders slumped. “Yeah…”
He dropped his plates and they made their way inside carefully. The house was eerily silent for a place that had just been exploding every few seconds, and he wasn’t sure if the prickling feeling on his skin was the dust in the air attempting to settle or if they were being watched.
They came upon the akuma and both of them relaxed instantly. It was just Gabriel.
Well, Carapace didn’t think Gabriel really had any right to be angry about anything, but at least he’d be taken down quickly.
“Who’s going to be bait?” Asked Ladybug.
“… I can probably take a few more hits,” admitted Carapace, however reluctantly.
She considered this before shaking her head. “I’m feeling lucky.”
Should he argue this point? Yes. Was he going to? No. He wasn’t fond of the idea of getting blown up, thanks.
The fight was over in less than five minutes. Carapace had snuck up behind not-Gabriel (he was pretty sure that he called himself Homme D’Affeure or something like that?) while he was distracted attempting to blow up a flying Ladybug and hit him as hard as he could with a plate.
Carapace grabbed the horrid candy cane tie off of him and tore it apart. Yep, there was the akuma. Why was Gabriel’s akuma always in his tie? Who knew.
Whatever. He tossed the plate like a frisbee at the akuma and smiled when it was crushed against the nearby wall. This smile lessened when the Agreste mansion rapidly started rebuilding itself. What a shame.
Ladybug landed next to him, a little winded but otherwise fine.
(The pair of them watched Gabriel Agreste scramble for his tie. Carapace looked at the pin on his suit and wondered for the millionth time why it was hidden. It was probably the nicest looking part of his outfit (not that that was saying much, his friend could have a field day talking about just what was so bad about his outfit -- and had, on many occasions). He guessed it didn’t go with the red and white theme he had going on, but then why wear it? Sentiment?)
Now for the only bad part of deakumatizing Gabriel: listening to his rich person problems.
Carapace and Ladybug started debating about who should listen to them. Damn their personas, making it so they had to be the ‘noble’ and ‘nice’ ones of the group. This conversation would never end.
Gabriel must have figured this out, too, because -- after ten whole minutes of them arguing -- he’d said that he was fine and that he was just missing his son.
Carapace nearly punched him.
His fingers dug into the skin of his palm as he fought to keep his expression in a friendly smile. “If you say so, sir,” he said.
Ladybug gave him a tight-lipped smile. “I hope you have a pleasant evening.”
They ran out and didn’t stop running until the building was just a white and gray speck in the distance.
She face planted on a rooftop, which could not have been a fun experience, and didn’t move. He came to a stop when he noticed she wasn’t getting back up and walked over. He prodded her limp body with his foot. He was tired, too, but he wasn’t ‘collapse on concrete’ tired.
“You need to do more cardio.”
There was a beat before she raised a hand and made a rude hand gesture.
He raised his eyebrow, a grin fighting its way onto his face. Huh. He thought he liked Ladybug’s actual personality way more than her persona.
He took a seat beside her and crossed his legs, waiting for her to catch her breath. They didn’t need to continue patrols for the day because an akuma had been summoned and he wasn’t in a huge rush to get home.
There was a beat before she pushed herself up to a sitting position and summoned a new water bottle. She downed half of it in one go and then offered him the rest. He only hesitated slightly before taking it. If he got used to the consistency like she had he’d be able to eat anything he wanted as long as Ladybug was around, and there was no way he was going to miss out on that kind of opportunity.
For a while there was no sound other than their heavy breathing, their water bottles, and her occasional mumbles to summon more drinks.
She was the one to speak first: “So, you hate Gabriel Agreste, too?”
He looked at her over the rim of what must have been his millionth water bottle and he couldn’t help the smile making its way across his face as he set the drink down. “Of course. He’s Gabriel Agreste, is there anyone who actually likes him?”
“His assistant, apparently,” said Ladybug, her nose scrunching a tiny bit.
“No way! Really?”
She shrugged. “I don’t get it. He’s got nothing going for him but his money, and even then I hear his business is starting to fail.”
“Think that’s why he actually got akumatized?”
She pointed a finger at him. “You might be onto something.”
He snickered. “I wonder if Hawkmoth is tired of him, too. I mean, he gets akumatized, what, once a month? And he’s always beaten really easily. Why does he even bother with him anymore?”
“Right? You think he sends out his akumas and sees it’s Mr. Pigeon and he goes ‘aw, not THIS guy again’?”
“Nonono. See, Mr. Pigeon at least means that Chat Noir can’t show up to help so we’re at a disadvantage. Mr. Pigeon makes sense. But Gabriel Agreste? Not at all.”
She considered this and then smiled. “Maybe it’s because they’re both rich assholes.”
He raised an eyebrow. “How do you know Hawkmoth is rich?”
“There’s no way he’s any lower than upper middle class. He just has this vibe, y’know?”
He had to give it to her. She wasn’t wrong.
She summoned him a bag of what he assumed were chips and he opened them, inspecting them for a moment… ah, yes, chip-shaped. He didn’t know why he was expecting to be able to figure out what type they were. He bit into one and smiled. She knew his favorite chip flavor? It still had that weird texture, but it tasted good and it was free, so he was happy to eat.
She summoned herself a plate of cookies and nibbled at a few.
They detransformed and continued to eat the summoned foods in silence. It was nice, though.
~
He was the one to push himself to his feet first.
“We need to get back. Something bad had to have happened while we were gone.”
She looked at his outstretched hand for a minute before semi-reluctantly taking it. He pulled her to her feet.
“I hate being impulse control. When do WE get to do dumb things?”
“It’s our duty to be the sane ones, Ladybug.”
“Don’t use my persona against me,” she said, giving his shoulder a tiny shove.
He smiled. “We’d all be dead by now if we didn’t parent those idiots.”
“Yeah.” She winked at him. “I think I’m the family dad, though.”
“No way, the kids aren’t scared enough of me for me to be the mom.”
“They won’t be scared of me for long,” said Ladybug.
Based on what he’d seen of the real Ladybug so far? “Yeah…”
There was a beat as this registered and then horror dawned across their faces.
“... our kids are going to walk all over us, aren’t they?”
“We’ll be dead within the year,” she whispered.
“We need a mom!”
They considered for a moment. Whatever person they recruited to be the mom, there was no doubt in either of their minds that Chat was going to be one of the kids of this metaphorical family. Out of Rena and Chloe...
“Maybe we can get Chloe to be the mom?”
He pointed a finger at her. “You might be onto something.”
~
It was… suspiciously calm when they got home.
They looked at the three people in the living room. Chloe and Chat were playing a video game (Chat was pulling the team). Rena was watching with a gleam in her eyes as she attempted to pit them against each other.
Carapace and Ladybug gave each other wary looks. Something had happened...
Ladybug clicked her tongue. She grabbed a blanket and took a seat by Chloe, wrapping it around them and starting to teach her to play.
She had the right idea, he decided. He dropped down by Chat to watch.

Why Gabriel cant Fire Gorilla
Ever wonder why Adrien gets away with so much with his bodyguard dispit the fact that said man could easily get fired if his father ever found out how leniant. Simple, Gabriel CAN’T fire Gorilla… and not for the reason you think.
~~~~
[[NEXT]]
Gabriel Agreste and the family driver/Adrien’s bodyguard were both sitting in Gabriel’s home office, glaring at each other. Not a word had been said between the two of them in nearly five minutes since the large burly man had come in and sat down.
It was finally Gabriel that had broken the silence “... Nothing to say for yourself?”
Gorilla gave Gabriel an unimpressed look, his hands coming up to make the gesture of ‘laughing’ in sign language, however both men could tell he was doing it in a sarcastic manner.
“I’m being serious. Adrien was suppose to be home for his Mandarin lessons a half hour ago, and dont you dare use the ‘traffic was bad’ excuse. I know for a fact it wasn’t. This is the seventh time this month my son has been late for lessons or appointments!” Gabriel stated sternly, glaring at the large, imposing man.
The driver looked at Gabriel with a raised eyebrow, his fingers signing as he replied back with sign language “What, like you were always on time when you were his age?” He signed, with a rather sarcastic expression on his usually stoic face.
Gabriel scowled at the remark before retorting “I however didn’t have a driver who’s JOB was to get me to my appointments and lessons, ON TIME.” Gabriel stated, a slight growl to his voice as he spoke. “Don’t think you can use my past time management skills against, I grew out of it, as should Adrien so it doesn’t become a habit.”
Gorilla gave Gabriel what could only be described as a bored expression, even going as far to roll his eyes before his fingers started moving again. “The kid had an assignment to work on with his study group. This was the only day they could all meet up for this week due to everyone else having conflicting schedules.”
Gabriel looked at the driver contemplatingly, nodding after a few moments, as he looked at his watch, noting that as of two minutes ago, the driver/bodyguard’s shift had officially ended. Gabriel relaxed ever so slightly in his chair as he looked at the burly man. “See your still as good of a liar as ever.” Gabriel stated, looking at the man with an unamused expression.
Gorilla looked back at Gabriel with the same unamused expression, his hands raising as he replied once again using his fingers “Are we really going to bring up the subject of intergirty, Mister ‘My entire family believes I am a business major when really I majored in Fashion against my family’s wishes’?”
If Gabriel glared at the man, however there was no real heat behind it “Must you always bring that up?” He asked in a tired tone, bring a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose as he felt a headache coming about.
Gabriel was silent for several moments before he spoke again “Was this honestly the only day that he and his classmates were able to meet to do the assignment?” He asked as he looked at his sons body guard.
The burley man gave a nod.
“And who’s house was it at?” Gabriel asked, looking at him curiously.
Gorilla brought up his hand and did the sign for ‘macaron’ which took a few moments for Gabriel to remember which person had that nickname. Since Gorilla mainly used sign language to speak, it was easier to give certain people nicknames than to spell out the names.
Some examples of this were Chloe, who was nicknamed ‘Princess’, Nino was nicknamed ‘DJ’, Alya (who was more of a friend through Nino) was nicknamed ‘Blogger’. The one who Gorilla had nicknamed ‘Macaron’ Gabriel remembered after a few moments.
“... And this has nothing to do with the fact that you adore the Dupain-Cheng bakery?” Gabriel asked with a raised brow, looking at the body guard who had the decency to at least look somewhat sheepish at the accusation. The elder Agreste let out a long sigh, rubbing his temples.
“Remind me again why I hired you?” He asked looking at Gorilla, who smiled smugly, his hands already signing his reply.
‘Because we were roommates in college, I was first employ/model, and I introduced you to Sugar Cube.’ He replied easily, using Emilie’s old nickname, however he did look at his old time friend with concern as he brought up his missing wife’s name.
Gabriel, as per usual, had a stoic look on his face as he simply sighed. “... Next time Adrien is going to be late for something, make sure yourself or he messages Nathalie or myself.” He said simply, turning to his computer to begin writing something. “You can go now.” He said simply, ending their conversation.
Gorilla seemingly took no offence to this, standing up and walking towards the door, however stopped, looking over his shoulder at his friend/boss, he knocked loudly on the door, getting the man’s attention as he signed
‘See you tomorrow Twig.’ With a small smirk on his face.
Gabriel scowled slightly at the use of his old nickname, signing make at the bodyguard ‘Fuck off Gorilla’ as the large man closed the door with a silent chuckle.
Cat’s Not-All-Encompassing Character Ranking
Okay, so I have to admit that I omitted a lot of characters I don't have strong opinions on. Most of them were one-off akumas, so don't get your panties in a twist, your faves are probably still on here (and ranked lower than you think).
As a preface again, these are just my personal opinions. They can't hurt you. You can still like characters more or less than me. And I don't care how you feel about them. This list is for me. And the person that asked for it. So shut up. Go make your own rank list if you’re so butthurt.
We're going in reverse order this time, starting from the bottom:
84. Gabriel Agreste- I mean, is anyone surprised? I am not private about how I think Gabriel should go to jail. Or fall off a cliff. Or be erased from existence. Rip to those that like him, but I’m different.
83. Thomas Astruc- Honestly, he’s down here on principle. Self-inserts are generally a no-no, and I just laugh every time I see him on screen because he really put himself in this show and said boohoo no one appreciates me XD
82. Bob Roth- I feel like this one should also be obvious. He’s just a dick. Terrible human. I give him 0 stars.
81. Tomoe Tsurugi- We all collectively hate her, right? It’s not just me?
80. Su Han- This mans has small peepee energy. And he bad mouthed Fu, so get FUCKED, my dude.
79. Rolland Dupain- Listen, I get it, he liked Marinette in the end, but I could do without the racism.
78. Nathalie Sancoeur- My opinion of Nathalie took a nosedive after the s2 finale. I just do not care that she is in love with her boss. Don’t care that she’s dying. Just do not have it in me.
77. XY- Justin Bieber ass wannabe.
76. Nora Cesiare- I didn’t care for Nora. I know Thomas loves her, but the overbearing sibling trope is tired.
75. Anarka Couffaine- I underestimated how much I don’t really like her. Like, it’s not full-on hate, but I just do not care for her.
74. Otis Cesaire- Got akumatized because a kid said he could outrun a panther. I’m still not over it, Otis.
73. Andre Bourgeois- No love for the crooked mayor. I hope your wife divorces you.
72. Alec Cataldi- The real villain of Stormy Weather. Like fr why is he such an asshole?
71. Roger Raincomprix- Is Officer Roger just doing his best? Sometimes. But like sometimes this mans just needs to take a chill pill.
70. M. D'Argencourt- Please get out of the 1600s
69. Ella/Etta- These two are basically the same character, and I am indifferent to both of them.
68. KnightOwl/Barbara- Listen, I would have liked you more if you were less controlling.
67. Majestia- Same as above, but like I guess I like you more
66. Theo- *Mean Girls principal voice* Stay away from underaged girls!
65. Andre the ice cream man- I just want a scoop of chocolate, Andre. Is that too much to ask??
64. Amelie Graham de Vanily- We haven’t seen much of her, but she seems like a snake bitch.
63. M. Kubdel- I mean, if my son wanted to resurrect an ancient mummy and believed in aliens, I’d give the family heirloom to my daughter too.
62. Jalil Kubdel- Lolol, buddy, pal, dude, my guy. Chill.
61. Vincent (Adrien's photographer)- Head empty. Mom’s spaghetti. Idk he’s alright.
60. Manon- I don’t hate Manon. She just gets on my nerves every time she talks.
59. M. Ramier- This mans got akumatized a billion times because he gets emotional about pigeons. I mean, honestly mood.
58. Mme. Mendeleiev- She doesn’t put up with Chloe’s shit, and we respect her for this.
57. Baby August- Someone just give this mans some food. He’s a growing boy.
56. Santa Claus- If I were Santa, I too would list Ladybug as the best kid in the world.
55. Art Teacher- He doesn’t even have a name, but I vibe with him. He seems like he likes to paint scenes of nature with his pet squirrels.
54. Prince Ali- Lil mans just wanted to have a good time. I can respect that.
53. Duusu- Duusu, I get that your Miraculous was broken, but get with the program, girl. You is a hostage.
52. Other Kwamis- Idk, all the ones we haven’t seen as much. I don’t have real opinions on them yet. Just neutral.
51. Sass- He gives me dad vibes.
50. M. Damocles- You go, you funky owl man
49. Jean (Chloe's Butler)- He deserves a raise. What is your name, sir? We may never know.
48. Mireille Caquet- She’s pretty cute. No complaints.
47. Aurore Beaureal- Baby’s first akuma. I love her design. She’s a cutie.
46. Claudie Kante (Max’s mom)- This womans just wanted to go to space and live her dream. We stan a hardworking queen.
45. Hot Dog Dan- I like him more than Andre the ice cream fraud. Sure, my hotdog might turn me purple, but if I ask for chili on it, I bet he’d oblige.
44. Nadja Chamack- I mean, she’s doing her best.
43. Audrey Bourgeois- So, as I said in the episode ranking, I have a love-hate relationship with Audrey. She’s the worst, but that’s why I love her. I love her ironically. Like, yeah she’s atrocious, but I just want to watch her burn the world.
42. Luka Couffaine- Directly in the middle, like he’s always been.
41. Nathaniel Kurtzberg- My opinion of Nath improved after Reverser surprisingly. I ship it.
40. Chris Lahiffe- I like Chris better than Ella/Etta. He’s just a little mans out here living life wanting to grow up. Don’t believe it, Chris. Stay little forever. Being an adult suuuuucks.
39. Fang the Crocodile- The goodest boy.
38. Nooroo- I just want to give him a hug.
37. Mlle. Bustier- She’s doing her best, but I mean, when ya whole class keeps getting turned into supervillains, I’m surprised she’s not an alcoholic.
36. Penny Rolling- I just like her. I think she’s neat.
35. Ondine- Mermaid queen! She’s so sweet, and I love her with Kim. I hope we see more of her in the future.
34. Marc Anciel- Marc is a little cutie bean. Idc if he’s based off one of Thomas’s irl friends. He can stay.
33. Wayzz- He loves Master Fu so much I cry.
32. Felix Graham de Vanily- I know everyone hates canon Felix, but tbh he exudes massive chaotic neutral gremlin energy, and I actually kinda vibe with that. And he pisses with his uncle which is a whole ass mood.
31. Tikki- Tikki is very cute, but bby please work on the preaching. You don’t always know what’s right, babe.
30. Sabrina Raincomprix- Sabrina deserves better. I hope we see good things happen for her.
29. Lila Rossi- Surprised? I actually like Lila. The first fic I ever wrote for this fandom was a Lila redemption. I think she is a good antagonist and foil to Marinette. I absolutely want to see her get dunked on in canon, but that doesn’t mean I hate her.
28. Wayhem- I don’t know why, but Wayhem makes me laugh. I love him XD
27. Uncle Cheng- He’s just a good mans with a birb who wants to make you tasty food. What’s not to like?
26. Trixx- Trixx shot up after GoS. Chaotic bean make Eiffel Tower go bendy
25. Jess- She’s pretty cool. She’s a vibe.
24. Aeon- The cutest bean!!! She saw Adrien and Marinette and said yep. Those two are meant to be together. Jess, we gotta make it happen.
23. Ivan Bruel- Ivan is such a gentle bean. We love him.
22. Mylene Haprele- Smol
21. Fei Wu- I still have not watched the Shanghai special with subs, but I liked her.
20. Gina Dupain- The grandma I aspire to be.
19. Marianne Lenoir- I love her. She is good. She and Fu are so cute. And she seems like she would have kicked le ass back in the day. (and even now)
18. Rose Lavillant- I am so excited for Pigella!! Rose is too cute. We love her.
17. Gorilla- aka Adrien’s real dad. If the series doesn’t end with Gabriel getting yeeted into the stratosphere and Gorilla adopting Adrien, I don’t want it.
16. Clara Nightingale- She’s in love with Marinette. You can’t change my mind. 16 is also how old I hc her to be, so don’t nobody come for me.
15. Tom Dupain- Most. Supportive. Dad. Soft bean. Just wants to make you fresh bread.
14. Sabine Cheng- Good mom vibes. We love to see her.
13. Juleka Couffaine- Shy goth bean. Just wants to have her picture taken. Definitely a lesbian. We stan.
12. Nino Lahiffe- The goodest boy. He’s just out here doing his best, loving his friends.
11. Chloe Bourgeois- Chloe is another one I have a love-hate relationship with. Her brattiness is funny to me. We had high hopes for her. Honestly, she ranks this high because I like to play with her in fic.
10. Max Kante- He smol and smort. And I adore his friendship with Kim and the fact that he made an AI himself at 14. What a legend.
9. Alya Cesaire- Rip to Alya salters, but I’m different. Outside of Chameleon, Alya is fine. She’s a supportive bff. All yall people that are mad she doesn’t kiss Marinette’s ass all the time need to go out and make real friends. I said what I said.
8. Alix Kubdel- I love Alix. I love how she is always so done with all the lovey-dovey bullshit. She is tiny queen, and Bunnix, while OP af, is still super cool. We love to see her.
7. Kagami Tsurugi- I will fight anyone who shits on Kagami. She has done nothing wrong, you guys are just haters. All she did was exist, and yall said, wow what a toxic bitch?? Disgraceful.
6. Jagged Stone- We are going to ignore the deadbeat dad trope that canon thrust upon him. He is a Marinette stan, and we love that.
5. Kim Le Chien- I really love Kim, you guys. Does that surprise you? Listen, my favorite male character types are sweet beans and himbos. Kim is both of these.
4. Master Fu- If you didn’t pick up on how much I love Fu from the episodes ranking, then idk what to tell you. I want him to be my grandpa. I would trust this mans with my life. He did his best. You paint those pictures, you funky little man. I love you.
3. Plagg- My galaxy trash man. Love him. 10/10 chefs kisses all around.
2. Adrien Agreste- The biggest Marinette stan there is. I just want him to kiss her on the face. And marry her. Idk, I just think that would be neat if he could do that. I just want good things for them.
1. Marinette Dupain-Cheng- Honestly, are you surprised? I have always been and always will be a Marinette stan. If you expected anyone else to be in this spot, then clown suit rentals are off to the left.
Mom? Dad? Chaos.
First, I would like to thank you all! Really. And I'm not talking about the followers (which reached the 500), no. I'm talking about your reception for my stories. You guys are awesome!
Second, Marinette is a little... dark in this story. Maybe because she fought Hawkmoth for a long time or Batfam influence, I don't know. She defends herself and defends her friends against Lila. So, don't be surprised, please.
(finally managing to edit the post f- u tumblr) 6K of salt, sailors.
Lightly based on Wayne Travelers by @multishipper1needshalp Maribat by @ozmav
The day had started normal.
Marinette getting up late for class and getting ready in a hurry while Tikki helped the girl as best she could, her parents setting the table for breakfast together and Damian sitting, waiting for his girlfriend to go to school together. Adrien still asleep after staying up all night with Jonathan on the phone.
That had become Marinette's morning routine for the past two years, with Damian going to Paris to study economics with the best education that money could afford and her finishing high school in Dupont with Adrien.
And as said before, the day had started normal.
They ate breakfast with her parents, Marinette kicking Adrien out of bed and walked together to Dupont's entrance, where their paths parted.
She had kissed Damian good-bye and he whispered a “see you later” before getting in the car parked on the sidewalk. The driver politely waving to Marinette.
Adrien grimacing in the background, like a child watching his parents kiss.
It had been normal the way the class wrinkled their noses as she passed them; how everyone was in their proper place when Lila began to tell the latest nonsense lie; when Adrien came right behind her and was forced to sit next to the Italian (face completely twisted in pained expression); Chloe walking to the back of the room and placing a tender kiss on Marinette's cheek before sitting next to her; the two whispering the news to each other while Adrien sent a wistful look to his friends; their kwamis together in the boy's bag (since it was the largest of the three there).
Ms. Bustier leaving and leaving them with free time to do whatever they want.
This was normal. This was the routine after Hawkmoth had given up on terrorizing Paris and returned the butterfly and peacock Miraculous. After Gabriel Agreste had been arrested.
What was not normal now was that portal opening beside Ms. Bustier's desk and five people passing by.
The whole class frozen in shock.
The first out was obviously the oldest. In his 19 years, probably.
Black hair - in the sunlight there was a bluish illumination - trapped in a bun at the top of his head, the eyes were a cold and sharp gray, his skin was a beautiful olive tone, a strong jaw and the body showed that he was very more than just physically active.
The second person to go through the portal was a girl, who was about 15/16 years old.
They couldn't see the color of her hair, as she wore a hijab, but the eyes were a vivid and bright green, her skin was paler, small face, pink lips in a cupid bow and she also seemed to exercise a lot too.
The first two seemed to be siblings and that at least one of the parents was Asian.
The third was a blonde girl. She was the same age as the first girl, not much older than 16. While she didn't seem to have a more defined body, just the fact that she wasn't touching the floor when she left the portal said a lot about her.
The blond hair - exactly the color of Chloe and Adrien's hair - was long and loose, the curls unruly. The eyes were blue, a radiant blue and not very common, the triangular face, the doll's lips.
The fourth person was actually a little boy, who must have been at most 3 years old and was in the blonde girl's arms.
His hair was black and unruly, eyes were the same bright blue as the girl, round face with rosy cheeks, pale skin and he was sucking his thumb.
The last person to pass through the portal had been a girl with a much stronger Asian heritage than the first two.
Her cherry-red dyed hair reaching her shoulders, body far more defined than the girl with the hijab - her biceps pronounced by the shirt – the eyes were amber and dangerous, thin lips, her skin was tanned from spending too much time in the sun, oval face.
They stared silently at the class as the portal closed behind them.
"Okay... Who's going to tell this to our parents?" The blonde girl asks, breaking the silence and the red-haired girl looks at her, a murderous expression on her face.
“That was your fault! You're the one to tell!” Growls.
The blonde girl looks sincerely sorry.
"How would I know this was a time machine?!"
The redhead approaches her, her fists clenched ready to pounce, but the oldest of the five holds her in place.
"Rie, Emilie, please. Now is not the time to fight." His voice comes up like a blade. Sharp. "Especially with Clark among you."
They move away from each other. Rie walks closer to the classroom door, Emilie floats toward the window. Both with serious faces.
"It's not wanting to cut your drama, but we're not alone." The hijab girl says, drawing their attention to her. “We have audience, (哥哥) gēge.” She points to the still very frozen class.
He turns, his eyes scanning the students, before locking in the back of the room. In Marinette and Chloe. His eyes close in a pained expression.
“Fuck.” Curses without shame. "Dad will kill us."
"Absolutely." She replies, not looking any little upset at the situation.
In fact, her eyes were shining. She seemed very excited about everything.
The bell rings and it seems to wake everyone up from the shock, the students frenzied.
Everyone talking at the same time, they approach; Alya with the phone in hand; Marinette talking quickly on the phone, looking worried; Chloe was looking critically at the newcomers, the familiar feeling poking at her head; Adrien looked downright in love with the little boy in Emilie's arms.
Lila was... Wanting to take advantage of the situation to do something.
Rie begins to fuss over and over with the noise of the class, the pitch of the sound seemed to be hurting Clark's sensitive ears. The situation gets worse until she screams, anger clear in her tone.
“ど け! (Doke!)” Everyone shuts up but doesn't understand what she says. "I said get away, NOW!"
They are frightened by the girl's ferocity and move away.
“Okay, now one at a time.” When everyone moves to talk together again, she raises her hand in a stop signal. "Raise your hands and I'll choose who speaks."
They quickly raise their hands, waving violently. Max was jumping in his seat.
"You." Rie points to Rose and the girl stands up happily.
"What is the name of you all?" Questions.
Rie raises an eyebrow, disbelieving that this was the most important question the girl had to ask, but said nothing. Who answers is Emilie.
"I'm Emilie, this little one is Clark, the scary one is (理 恵) Rie, the handsome guy over there is (健) Jiàn and the hijab girl is Aria-" She turns sideways to point at the girl, just to find the empty spot. “Where's Aria?” She asks the two beside her and Rie just points to the back of the room.
And they all turned just in time to see Marinette being hugged her life away by the girl.
“妈妈 (māmā) you are so cute!” Both Adrien and Chloe gasp, eyes wide. Marinette gets paler and paler.
That moment makes both Rie and Clark notice the blondes in the room and Clark begins to cry, writhing in Emilie's arms and trying to reach Adrien.
“Papa! Papa!” The little boy sniffles until Emilie releases him and lets him fly to Adrien.
The class shouts at the demonstration of power.
The blonde catches him reflexively, hugging the small body in his arms and the boy sinks, melting in the warmth. He looks shocked at Emilie, wanting an explanation and the girl just shrugs, a bland smile on her face.
"Hi Dad."
Adrien chokes, his eyes filling with water, thrilled. He smiles back in disbelief.
"Hi?"
Chloe rises from her seat indignantly.
"Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!” Shouts. “Why do you two get visits from your future kids, but not me?!” She stomps her foot in a tantrum.
It seemed just another bout of Chloe's futility, but Marinette - who was still being held by Aria - felt her heart ache at the hurt look on her best friend's face.
“Chlo-”
"What am I? Invisible?” Rie responds rudely. “You should recognize your children, 母 (haha).” Her cheeks were rosy despite her serious face.
Chloe is speechless before going downstairs and throwing herself into Rie's arms. She could scarcely believe that she had built a family in the future, that apparently her best friends continued together years and years into the future.
“And you must be my son!” Lila's voice cuts the happy mood. "Handsome like that, you're just like my Damian."
Chloe turns away from Rie, Marinette comes down the stairs with Aria and Adrien stays in his seat, with Clark in his lap and Emilie sitting at his desk, stroking the blond boy's hair.
The seven looks at Lila standing in front of Jiàn, who seemed disgusted with the thought of being her son.
"Yes, many say I look a lot like my father," He replies. And although the expression is not the best, his voice contains no emotion. "But I have my grandmother's eyes."
Lila seems especially excited about the boy's response.
Alya still recording everything and the class in an eternal pause.
“Oh! Now I see! You really look like my mother. She's very beautiful, looks like a model.” Lila says, glancing quickly at Alya, probably making sure the girl was recording everything.
Jiàn wrinkles his nose in disgust and turns away from the greedy hands of the Italian.
“You're not my mother.” Lila is surprised by the hatred in the boy's tone. "My mother has decency and honor, something you obviously lack."
The class seems to stop breathing.
"Oh, that hurt." Emilie muttered, chin resting on Adrien's head.
She had left Adrien's desk and was sitting at Alya's desk, which was behind the boy, so that she could hug him like a koala. Clark was dozing in his arms.
Alya snorted offended.
"Hey, this is no way to talk to her!" She moved, the phone still clenched in her fist.
"I speak the way I want." Jiàn answers. "Criminals and liars don't deserve my respect."
The class starts talking on top of each other, confused.
“What do you mean?” Alix's voice sticks out.
Jiàn tilts his head, but straightens again. An expression on his face as if he had just unraveled the mystery of the century.
"Oh, you haven't found out yet..."
"Or rather, they haven't opened their eyes yet." Aria comments.
Kim gets up, his face rock hard.
"Explain."
The newcomers exchange glances with each other. Aria raises her eyebrow, Emilie shrugs, Jiàn sighs and Rie looks at everyone.
"I think aunt Mari already told you about the sausage being a liar." She pats Chloe's arm affectionately. “Lila Rossi, in 2046, is under arrest for terrorism, extortion, sexual harassment, blackmail and best of all: murder.” Rie smiles darkly as she watches the students' pale faces.
Alya's phone recording every second of everything. Live. On Ladyblog.
Lila feels panic bubbling in her chest, her hands shaking and a sudden weakness in her legs. This could not be happening!
She glances at everyone in the class, noting the expressions between disbelief and fear, only Alya still holding the angry expression on her face.
Adrien, Chloe, and Marinette did not seem surprised by what the boy said, nor angry. She would use that to her advantage.
Lila's eyes widen in the most pitiful expression possible. The fake tears already running down her cheeks. She didn't forget to sniff before she spoke.
“Why are you guys doing this to me?” That catches everyone's attention, Kim being the first to come to the rescue. She uses the boy for support. “Is it some kind of horrible plan Marinette came up with? I know she hates me, but I didn't think she would do something so wicked to bring me down.”
Alya, Alix and Mylene are quick to reach both of them to comfort Lila. Which left Ivan, Nathaniel, Max, Rose, Juleka and Nino to defend the honor of the Italian.
“Look what you did!” The DJ pointed out. "Lila is crying because of you!"
"It had to be Chloe's daughter." Max says, adjusting his prescription glasses to his face. "Only a snake would give birth to another snake."
Emilie sighs offended, as does Aria and Jiàn.
Max barely has time to blink before feeling the sharp edge of Rie's katana in his throat. He swallows, the eyes wide.
She had left Chloe in the same spot before jumping over the tables and reaching Max. The katana that had been her belt, taking shape in her hands just in time to reach the target.
"Call my mother snake again and I'll cut your head off." She says coldly.
Nathaniel runs away, Rose and Juleka accompany him. Even Lila swallows the fake cry feeling the fear run down her spine.
"You wouldn't have the guts-" Ivan begins, but quickly shuts up when he sees Max leaning as far away from the sword as the red thread of blood trickles down his throat.
"Do you doubt...?" Rie says quietly. "Are you sure?"
Marinette reacts with that, ready to separate the girl from her classmate.
“Wait-
“Rie Tsurugi Bourgeois!” Aria calls, voice like steel. "Let him go."
Rie doesn't move, doesn't even blink.
“Now.” Aria raises her voice. Adrien and Marinette are able to see her eyes turn a radioactive shade of green (which resembles Chat Noir's eyes very much) and her round pupils narrow like those of a reptile.
Rie grits her teeth, smoke escaping between them. She squeezes the katana a little deeper into the boy's throat before moving back toward Chloe.
The blade becomes malleable in her hands and she fastens around her waist again, sparing no glance at the rest of the class. Not at all sorry.
Marinette breathes a sigh of relief, but soon becomes serious. She needed to fix that mess.
"Okay." Says it out of nowhere and catches everyone's attention. Aria once again hung around her neck. “This day was too weird in just a few minutes, so I need everyone to collaborate.”
Her gaze points mainly to Rie and Alya, who turn their head into a tantrum.
“First, I want an explanation for that.” Hands shake in the air. “What are you doing here in 2022 and who are you?”
Jiàn smiles quietly before getting serious again.
“Our names have already been said, so I'll tell you where we came from.” He takes the liberty to sit on Ms. Bustier's desk, as if he owns the place. “First, we are from the future, as you have already understood. Secondly, we are children of three students in this class.”
The young man turns to Rie, beckoning her to proceed.
"I'm Rie Tsurugi Bourgeois, I have a twin sister named Alice." She turns to Chloe. “We are your daughters with Kagami Tsurugi. I think you two became something last year, 2021, right?” And the blonde nods emphatically. "Three years from now you get married and after five years Alice and I are born."
Chloe hugs the girl, wild feelings in her chest.
“My turn!” Emilie shook herself on the table, Clark, still sleeping, shifted uncomfortably. "My name is Emilie Lois Agreste-Kent and this cute sleeping is my brother, Clark Auguste Agreste-Kent." She notices Marinette's horrified look and sighs in agreement. "I know I know. Our names are one thing... horrible, but they wanted to honor our grandparents...”
The class makes a confused sound and Nathaniel is the fastest to speak up.
“I don't understand.” The voice loud enough just for a quiet room to hear. "Adrien's mother's name is Emilie, Lois may be his mother-in-law's name and Clark the father-in-law's name..." He pauses thoughtfully. “Why Auguste? Shouldn't it be Gabriel?”
At the sound of the name, newcomers, Chloe, Marinette and even Adrien himself react negatively, leaving no doubt of the dislike of the designer.
"Because Gabriel never was and never will be a father to uncle Adrien." Aria replies.
Nino nods in agreement with the girl.
“… Ok, I understand where you come from. But who is Auguste?” He asks. “I don't remember anyone with that name Adrien commented on.”
The blonde gives a bland laugh before looking at the DJ.
"It's because I never speak his name, but you know him... the gorilla."
Nino widens his eyes at the news, but soon understanding dawns on his face. It made sense. The man cared more for Adrien than his own father, who could only look at his belly button.
"Wait!" Alya calls. “Gorilla's name is Auguste?” Adrien nods and she presses her palm over her face. “Oh my god, this is cursed! He doesn't look like an Auguste!”
Emilie releases Adrien to fly over his head.
"I know! I once told him that and he laughed at me!” Her hand movements were wild.
It makes Alya pale.
"He laughed. Adrien's bodyguard laughed. Oh my God."
Lila gets fed up with the situation and decides to return the conversation to where it mattered. She needed to know who Adrien's future wife was, just so she could make sure they never met. With Gabriel's help, of course.
He might have been arrested, but he still had... powers over Adrien.
“We already understood that part, but you never told us who your mother was.”
Emilie freezes in the air, the cheerful, happy air slipping into an empty shell. She sits back behind Adrien, her gaze hard on the Italian.
“Because I don't have a mother.” She responds and Lila had to control the happy smile that wanted to escape. “I have two dads. Adrien Agreste and Jonathan Samuel Kent.”
The air in the room becomes cold after she finishes speaking. Lila never felt as much hatred as she did then.
Adrien was hers. Just hers. Knowing he was married to a man in the future was too much for the girl.
“B-but how? I thought Adrien was straight. We all know he dated Kagami.” Mylene asks.
Adrien frowns at the girl. Not a bit happy.
"I never said I was straight or that Kagami and I were dating." His voice was dry. “Kagami and Chloe have been together since last year, Jon and I have been dating since I was fifteen. Four years ago."
Alya gives Marinette unhappy glances, as if pitying the girl for the news. But in the end, she notices that the brunette was not at all surprised or shaken.
"And about you? Who is your father?” She points to Aria, who raises an eyebrow at her. The mockery in all body expression. "We know you're Marinette's daughter because we heard you call her mother, but you didn't say who your father was."
Aria rolls her eyes and sighs, completely tired of having to deal with these people. They were very ignorant.
"Aria Dupain-Cheng Wayne-" Surprised sighs are heard.
“And Jiàn Dupain-Cheng Wayne. We are children of Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Damian Al-Ghul Wayne. There is Thomas too, but he was with Alfred and the Couffaine siblings when we... traveled back in time.” Jiàn cuts his sister, making a sardonic bow toward Alya.
Marinette was choking as she tried to hold back a scream.
Those were her children! There were three! She and Damian had been together for many, many years! Her heart was beating so fast that she feared everyone in the room would be able to hear.
“… Damian Wayne. Isn't that the name of your boyfriend, Lila?” Juleka says suddenly and everyone looks at the Italian trying to sneak out of the classroom.
She stops, knowing everyone was keeping an eye on her and turning around, her eyes full of tears.
It was time to put on a show.
"M-Marinette!" She sniffs. “How can you go so low stealing my Damiboo from me?! I thought you were better!” The hands cover her face and shoulders begin to shake, as if she’s crying.
"WHA-"
“My God, girl!” Alya shouts angrily as she approaches Lila once more. Alix, Mylene, and Kim did not move from the scene. “Stealing Lila's boyfriend? As if it wasn't enough to be an envious slut-
Jiàn turns the face so fast that Rie can hear the young man's bones crack. The face contorted into a murderous expression.
“I suggest you not finish this sentence, otherwise I will be forced to do something my parents wouldn't approve of.”
Lila pulls her hands away from her face looking at the boy in defiance.
"What? But it's true! First Adrien, now my Damiboo. Your mother is a bitc-” Before Lila could finish the sentence, Jiàn was in front of her. Alya pushed aside, along with the phone that fell to the floor.
His right hand goes straight to Lila's face, squeezing her chin as he forces her to face him. He didn't need to look at the look of horror on her face to know that anger and disgust were clear in his eyes.
“You're an unpleasant person, Lila Rossi.” He says. “Even though you know you have nowhere to run, that you only have those futile idiots to control, you still try to play the wronged good girl.”
Adrien gets up from the chair, Marinette approaches and Chloe too.
“Jiàn, I think-”
Aria puts her hand on Marinette's shoulder, drawing the girl's attention back to her. "No. He won't hurt her... physically.”
“But-” Adrien protests.
“Dad, please. In the future you regret not stopping her before. Let Jiàn do it.” Emilie says seriously. The most serious she had been until that moment.
When Marinette and Adrien steps back, the class sees this as allowing newcomers to do whatever they want, so they run to Lila's rescue. Alya quickly rising from the floor, the phone forgotten.
"Let her go now!" Kim shouts. He tries to hit Jiàn with a punch, but Rie is quick to stop him.
"And why would i do that? Ms. Volpina here, did much worse things helping Hawkmoth.” Lila widens her eyes, the panic clear in her face.
"I-I"
“What was that little fox? No more lies to tell us? Are you afraid because you can no longer use akumas to get rid of difficult situations?” The sarcasm in Jiàn's voice was clear, as was the acidity.
Everyone saw the way Lila stopped trying to defend herself and her gaze became sharp. Malicious. Jiàn took this to get away from the girl. She took the time to straighten her hair and caress her jaw before a blatant smile took over her expression.
Alya felt the ice run down her spine, discomfort rolling in her stomach. She stepped back, trying to create distance.
The class reacting precisely the same.
“Oh? Do you really think I need some old man and cursed butterflies to get what I want?” Rose choked on the way Lila spoke. “Look at what we have here. Come on, look!” She shakes her hands, signaling around them.
“I managed to fool these people for years. YEARS! No one doubting a word of what I was saying. Even with the most trusted person in the class trying to warn of my tricks, they just ignored it. They treated her like trash, they threw her into a corner... They humiliated her.” Mylene cried and Ivan tried to comfort her.
“And I didn't even have to do anything much, just say what they wanted to hear.” There was a victorious smile on the Italian's face. “Hawkmoth was just a tool. I never needed him to get where I got.” She nodded dismissively.
“So, you lied to us all this time?” Alix growls, Kim having to hold her so she doesn't hit Lila.
The Italian raised an eyebrow, smiling as if nothing was wrong.
"Alix, Alix ... You guys were so naive." Lila sighs theatrically. “I mean, dumb. Ignorant. Easy. Fools. I think you were by far the easiest people to manipulate.” She shrugs.
“You… are the worst! I don't believe-” Nathaniel stops and shakes his head violently, trying to deal with the situation.
“Ow, poor thing.” Lila sneers. “Okay, I was a little harsh with my words. It was not entirely your fault. Caline Bustier played a huge part in all this, since without her passivity, I would probably have been discovered much earlier.”
Marinette cringes at the teacher's name.
Caline had gone from being Marinette's favorite teacher to the less pleasant one. The woman's pacifism gave the brunette knots in her stomach. Each time she heard the phrase “be an example to others,” the discomfort washed over her body and all Marinette could think about was running home and sleeping for an entire week.
She knew that Lila's era of terror in her life would not have stretched so long had it not been for Caline Bustier's incompetence. Just with the teacher checking Lila's medical notes to know that everything the girl said she suffered was true would suffice. Then all the other lies would be uncovered, like a crumbling house of cards.
But she never did. Not even when Marinette explicitly expressed her concerns. When Adrien took the courage to confess that he felt bad about Lila being overly sticky. Or when Sabrina wept on the teacher's shoulder that Lila had made mean comments about her mother. And also, when Chloe denounced the Italian for homophobia.
Caline Bustier had been complacent. Never moving a finger to help students. Thus, Lila Rossi's greatest facilitator in Dupont.
“Ms. Bustier has nothing to do with it!” Juleka shouts in distress.
It was the first time they had seen her like that.
Lila rolls her eyes.
"Of course she have! Or do you really think that an adult woman with a master's degree, teacher, who deals with children and teens daily for years, would believe everything you say?” Her voice was annoying. “Please, you deify totally wrong people. Where's the critical sense? No one here can see the world without the pink lenses?!”
As soon as Lila finishes speaking, the room was silent. Rose and Juleka had twin expressions of disbelief, Alya cried silently, Nino tried to find support in Nathaniel who was unsure what to do, Kim along with Alix and Max had angry expressions on their faces, Mylene and Ivan hugged tightly to each other.
Aria with her arms around Marinette, both with expressions of pure boredom. Chloe and Rie had sat at Adrien's desk throughout the confrontation, tired of Lila's villain speech. Jian, already away from the Italian, was arms crossed and raised eyebrow. Adrien was the only one in the second group who was minimally disturbed by Lila's words. Clark slept despite all the confusion and Emilie had stolen the model's phone to play while flying around the room.
Lila had a victorious expression on her face as if the speech had solved all her problems.
Oh man. If only she knew.
"Did you get everything?" Marinette says in the silence of the class and everyone looks at her.
“What-” Lila begins.
"I'm not talking to you." The girl cuts her off, her expression disinterested and voice like steel. “I'm talking to him.” Marinette picks up the phone (which has never left her hands since newcomers showed up in the classroom) and shakes it, showing a video call in progress.
“Of course, حبيبتي (habibat).” The person in the video call answers. A youngster. "We are on our way. Don't let her run away.” The call is cut off and Marinette puts the phone in her hoodie pocket.
She stares at Lila. The cold, deadly eyes. Like a predator about to pounce.
“Of course I won't let it. Not anymore.” There was a dangerous smile on her lips. “It's my time to go after you, Li-la! Change our dynamics. Threatening me in the dark corners of the school is getting outdated, so it's time for prey to become a predator, don't you think?”
Lila senses the danger in the girl's words and steps back without thinking. She keeps a brave expression.
“And what do you think you are going to do? Tell your little friend?” She forces a mocking laugh. “Please, Dupain-Cheng. You know you can't against me. Never could.”
Aria lets go of Marinette and the girl slowly makes her way to the Italian, without breaking eye contact for a second. She was waiting for an opening to be able to make her move.
“Are you sure about that, Lila Agnola Rossi?” Lila doesn't hold her breath at the full name. “Because I have a lot of material against you. Your mother helped us a lot. A nice woman, despite working so hard. She needs to rest, don't you think?”
Marinette stops, less than a foot from the Italian, before leaning further. Warm breath hitting Lila's face with how close they were.
“And she said everything, you know? About how you lied about school being closed by akuma attacks, about being bullied and how your boyfriend Adrien Agreste-“ The boy and Emilie make sounds of disgust. "Are considering asking you to marry at graduation!"
Chloe sneers in the background. Aria, Jiàn and Rie laughing at what she said.
“When you-” Lila's lips were pale and her eyes wide.
Marinette leaps away. A smile bordering the maniac on her face.
“You don't know how surprised she was when we said the school was never closed!” She spins, arms raised to the ceiling. "Or that Adrien Agreste has a boyfriend."
“YOU DID WHAT?!” Lila shouted, advancing on Marinette, only to be held back by the hard look the girl sent toward her.
“Imagine the other surprise she had to learn that her little girl was a compulsive and abusive liar? That the only child she gave birth was lying as she breathed? Lila, Lila. Lying about Jagged was your first mistake, Prince Ali the second. The third was about Ladybug.” Marinette lifts a finger at Alya who reacted to the heroine's name. The girl stops. "Ladybug was not at all happy to hear her name was being dragged through the mud by someone as dirty as you."
Lila swallows hard.
“And sweetie? She wants you to pay. Pay for all the times you helped Hawkmoth and endangered innocent people or badmouthed her kitten.” Chloe laughs at Adrien's red face. “She's a very protective bug, you know? Revengeful too.”
"Is this a threat? Is that it? Ladybug sent you to threaten me?” Lila questions.
Marinette crosses her arms, a dark shadow taking over her blueberry eyes.
"Lila, I don't need Ladybug to take you down." She sighs bored. “Who do you think ended Gabriel Agreste?” The students are surprised. The newcomers sat watching like it was a very good movie. Adrien with the biggest smile ever.
“… You're lying!” Lila shouts. “Gabriel was caught by a… anonymous… report… you?!” The voice trailed off until all that was left was a whisper.
"Me." Marinette smiles.
There was a fire burning in Lila's eyes, her teeth showing, a growl deep in her throat.
"How could you?!" She bites. “You destroyed Adrien's life! How could you do this for the boy you love?!”
"Hey! She didn't destroy my life!” Adrien protests in the background, but no one listens to him.
“Ah, please! You're only annoyed because you learned that it was me who destroyed the collar Adrien was kept on and forced to wear. Or do you really believe we didn't know you and Gabriel had a deal about controlling Adrien?” Lila shivers as if she's been shocked. “We know everything. Everything."
“And you went there and put the only family he had in prison. Congratulations Marinette. You have reached a new low level.”
No one blinks for the next scene.
Marinette stretches her left hand straight to Lila's neck, pulling the girl closer to her.
"You don't open that dirty mouth to talk about family." She growls. “That man was nothing more than a piece of shit. Trash to be thrown away. He was never a father or a decent man. Being arrested was the easiest way out for him, because if I could have the opportunity to get my hands on him, you can be sure that today Adrien would have both parents buried.”
Her voice was piercing. Ice spread through the room. Everyone felt the honesty in the girl's words, no hesitation. Lila clamped her hands on Marinette's wrist, trying in vain to pull away.
She was beginning to be terrified of Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
"Let me go." She gasped as she felt the tightness in her neck tighten.
“Adrien hasn't lost a family.” Marinette ignores the girl. Adrien puts Clark in Aria's arms before getting up. He needed to stop that.
“Just now he got one. My parents are keen to make clear what family love really means; Auguste continues to work with him even though he no longer needs it; I taught him what a toxic and abusive relationship was like, how to have siblings and people to support him; Chloe accompanied him for weekly therapy; Kagami and Luka distracted him from panic attacks; Sabrina helped him understand what sexual harassment was. We were all there when he spent weeks locked in his room crying thinking he had no one else. We introduce him to what a family is. And surprise, he's much happier now.” Marinette lets go of Lila's throat and the girl swallowed huge amounts of air.
"He's much better off living in a bakery than in a ghost-filled mansion and empty rooms with people who only knew how to exploit him."
As soon as Marinette finishes talking, Adrien hugs the girl and then the door opens.
“We're here, Minette!” Sabrina's cheerful voice tears the oppressive silence of the room. "And I brought company."
Everyone turned to look at Sabrina and found a lot more people at the door than they thought.
“Dad, Damian, Jon and Kagami have come! Lu and Bruce are there at the office talking to the Director and Ms. Rossi.”
As soon as the five enter the room, Aria rushes into Damian's arms. “بابا! (baba!) You're cuter than 妈妈 (māmā) at this age!”
“… You two are grounded.” It's the only thing Damian says, pointing to Jiàn who was approaching.
“Dad!” Emilie squeals at Jonathan, who just smiles in confusion. “Oh my god, he's so cute! Did you see, papa ?!” She yells at Adrien who hides the red face on Marinette's shoulder.
The girl laughs at him patting his back.
"マ マ (mama)." Rie says respectfully as Kagami looks at her and Chloe sitting at the table.
"... I'm feeling a headache coming." Roger mutters before putting Agent Raincomprix's face and looking at Lila. “Ms. Rossi, I need you to come with me. We have some questions to ask.”
Lila shakes her head in refusal.
"No. I have nothing to talk to you about. Nothing."
Roger sighs. “If you do not come for good, you will come for bad. I really don't want to use force with you.”
"I do not care! I won't go with you!” Lila’s voice rose two octaves. She was starting to get hysterical.
“Ms. Rossi.”
"No! I'm not—” Lila rolls her eyes closed before falling hard to the floor. Marinette stood behind her, the hand with fingers pressed together and the thumb bent. Like a knife.
She relaxes her posture and smiles innocently.
“To avoid more drama.”
Damian sighs. “حبيبتي (habibat).”
She continues to smile innocently.
First Hawkmoth, then Gabriel and now Lila. That was a great way to close a chapter in Marinette's life.
Seeing Green Ch.11
I gave zero fucks this chapter. I promise I'll make up for it in the next one.
---
    Marinette stared down at her cell phone with a blank look, before she took in a deep breath, raising her gaze to Bruce, who was sitting across the table from her. She and the Waynes were seating in the dining hall, with the kwami from the Miraculous box flying around, exploring everything they could get their tiny hands on.
    “Mr. Wayn- um, Bruce? I was thinking, since you said you were going to get the Justice League in on the entire Paris situation, I want my team in on it too.” Marinette said firmly as Alfred set down a delicate china cup in front of her, filled with fragrant, flowery tea.
    “You have a team? I thought you just had the pervy cat.” Jason rose a brow, his hand clenched tight around a mug of coffee. He had been tense ever since they had returned to the manor without Eva, but was holding himself together rather well.
    “Oh, I have three other members in my team. Queen Bee, Viperion, and Ryuko.” Marinette sipped the tea, then hummed in approval. She motioned to Wayzz, who made his way down and indulged himself in some of the tea as well. “They are keeping Paris safe while I’m away. I find it odd, from what they’ve told me there has been no akuma attacks in the city since I left.”
    “Maybe the crazy butterfly man is taking a holiday?” Tim snorted as he downed his coffee as well, ignoring a glare from Damian. “Or maybe he left the country?”
    “Angel, are you sure Paris would be safe if you brought your team here and left the city unattended?” Damian reached over and gently took her hand, lacing their fingers gently. He smiled at her and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “I just mean that, I wouldn’t want anyone hurt.”
    “I’m sure. A lot of things need to be done now, thanks to all that’s happened.” Marinette got to her feet, a determined look on her face, her blue eyes sparking with a fierceness. “I need to find Hawkmoth, I need a stable team and I just want this all over. I mean, first I need to find a new Black Cat holder, then I need to introduce Lady Vixen to the team, and hopefully Alya won’t be akumatized, and-”
    “Miss Marinette.” Alfred quieted her by setting a hand on her shoulder when he noticed the girl had begun to tremble. The older gentleman gave her a kind smile and a gentle pat on the shoulder. “There is no need to fret for now. Just take a deep breath, your parents are on a flight over here, remember? They are due to arrive in a few hours, perhaps you should just take some time to collect yourself? You were just faced through many traumatic incidents in only a short week, so I suggest just laying low for at least a day?”
    “Alfred’s right. If you get too worked up right now, you’re going to overexert yourself, maybe even make rash decisions.” Bruce gave the girl a kind smile, then after a moment of silence, he nodded. “But once your parents are here and settled, you can bring your team here without issue, then we can contact the League. Hawkmoth has tormented Paris long enough and he needs to be dealt with before it gets too far out of control.”
    Marinette visibly relaxed, but then tensed when she heard the sound of someone running. Evangeline appeared in the doorway, clutching the Fox miraculous tightly in her hand and seeming visibly shaking.
    “Eva, what happened, are you okay?” Marinette took a step towards her, but Eva held a hand up, stopping her in her tracks. “Eva?”
    Evangeline was quiet as she went over and embraced Jason tightly, buried her face in his chest and trembled. Jason held her close, concern flickering across his features before he led her out of the room before anyone could say a word.
    Marinette stared after them before she hugged herself tightly. What on earth had happened?
    …
    When Marinette’s parents arrived and rushed to embrace her, the young girl let loose the tears she had been holding in. She wept and sobbed in her mother’s embrace, while her father talked quietly with Bruce, thanking the man for paying for their tickets to get to Gotham.
    “Well I know she would have wanted her family with her after facing such an experience. And the two of you must have been worried sick when you heard that Marinette had gone missing.” Bruce shook Tom’s hand, exchanging a look with Damian as a confused look crossed the parents’ faces.
    “We were never informed. We only heard about it when you called us, Mr. Wayne.” Sabine admitted, fury brimming at the edge of her tone as she spoke. She held her daughter tighter as realization settled in. “We had never been told about the incident with the other villain either.”
    “I-I’m so sorry, Mama, I should have called, I’m so so sorry..” Marinette hiccuped as she tried to wipe away her tears, her nose and eyes red from crying.
    “You mean to tell me Caline never called you? She never once informed anyone of what happened in Gotham?” Evangeline, in a much better state now, looked ready to take something heavy and go beat up one Miss Caline Bustier. “She should have called you the moment she realized Marinette was missing! The moment she knew that your daughter was being held captive with a gun to her head! Tom, Sabine, I’m sorry that I didn’t call.”
    “That’s enough, both of you” Sabine’s firm tone made any more apologies die off both ladies’ lips. “What matters is that Marinette is safe and that horrible boy is in jail. Honestly, I hope his foolish father doesn’t try to turn this around on her.”
    “Knowing Gabriel Agreste, he’ll get his secretary to handle everything while he stays back in his mansion and cries about his missing wife.” Eva commented dryly, crossing her arms and grinning when she heard a giggle leave Marinette’s lips. “Okay, enough of this sappy stuff. I am starving and I think we’ve all cried enough for one day. No one is dead, so let’s get some dinner and talk about our course of action from here, such as getting Marinette home.”
    “But the Wayne Gala!” Marinette blurted out the words before she could stop herself. She suddenly looked sheepish at all of the stares being sent her way, and shifted uncomfortably. “I-it’s in a few days and I was really looking forward to attending. Please? I made Eva and I dresses and everything.”
    “I don’t know…” Tom’s brow furrowed as he didn’t quite grasp why his daughter didn’t want to leave the city where she had faced such horrible things. But when he caught sight of how one of the Wayne boys and his daughter were looking at each other, it clicked, it was the same look he always gave Sabine. The two of them were in love, even if they didn’t realize it yet. “Well… One or two days couldn’t hurt, but afterwards we’re going straight home and contacting the school board about this entire incident. It wouldn’t have happened in the first place if your teacher had been more careful.”
    There were many hums of agreement and Marinette hugged her father tightly, squealing in excitement. She’d get the dream night, one last perfect night with Damian before she had to go home to Paris and deal with the headache that is her class and the torment that is one Lila Rossi.
Gabriel frowned as he entered the filthy, disgusting Gotham police station with Natalie. This is why he hated going out in public, people were so disgusting, so sloppy and uncouth. He had to get his son out of here before they all corrupted him.
"Pardon me." Natalie stepped forward towards the reception desk, her face a perfect blank slate as she gazed the woman at the desk now. "We are here to take Adrien Agreste home."
"Are you his legal guardian?" The woman behind the glass rose a brow, before Gabriel stepped forward and showed his ID. The receptionist nodded and pushed a button on the com. "Commissioner, Adrien Agreste's legal guardians are here."
Gabriel felt an irk of irritation as a gruff looking cop stepped through the doors, eyeing the duo before holding out his hand.
"Commissioner Gordon. I take it you're Gabriel Agreste? Sorry that we had to meet under these circumstances." Gordon kept his hand held out, but when he got none in return, he dropped his hand and guided the man back towards the cells, where Adrien was being kept.
Adrien was found curled up in a corner, looking dazed, his left cheek covered in scratches from Lady Vixen's sharp claws.
"Son, what have you done this time?" Gabriel stepped forward, barely hidden fury being heard in his tone. Adrien raised his gaze and met his father's, allowing Gabriel to see the madness in his eyes.
"Father, I had my Miraculous taken away."
Marinette sighed as she stepped into the library and saw Eva sitting in one of the comfy chairs, staring down at her Miraculous with Trixx on her shoulder.
"Evangeline, what happened today?" Marinette stepped forward and nearly froze when Trixx's and Eva's eyes snapped up, both pairs of eyes the same shade of unearthly purple.
"I don't deserve this Miraculous." Eva blurted out, moving to unclasp the necklace, but Marinette quickly moved to stop her, her gut clenching at the sight of the shakiness in Eva's eyes. "Marinette, I'm a loose cannon, I attacked Adrien so easily, I-"
"Why did you, though? I've seen you angry, but never so ready to cause physical harm like that. I mean, it was so out of left field for you." She hugged her friend, giving her back a few gentle pats.
"... My ex boyfriend said the same thing to me. I was trapped because he had me in this horrible abusive relationship and I didn't ever leave because… Because he kept threatening to kill himself." Eva stared down at her trembling hands, before letting out a shaky whimper. "One day I did. And as I was shoving my bags into my car, he came out of the house with a gun. He called me name, put the barrel in his mouth, and-"
Marinette didn't need to know the rest.
"But I saw a therapist and I worked through that shit. He did that to hurt me, to spite me. It wasn't my fault, he would have done anything to control me or to hurt me. So that's why I'm so adamant on you seeing a therapist, sugar cookie." Eva took her hand gently, giving it a squeeze. "It wasn't your fault. It was never your fault, Adrien was bound to do this because no one ever told him no, no one ever taught him right. Yes, like Plagg explained, the Miraculous may have corrupted him, but that shouldn't excuse him from what he did."
Marinette was quiet for a long time, trying to digest those words as she left the library, allowing Trixx to talk to her newfound kit in peace.
Marinette wandered the halls of Wayne Manor, her mind just… Gone. Off trying to process all that had happened to her in only a few days. When she finally came out of her senses, she found herself standing in front of Damian's bedroom door. With a small smile, she knocked.
Damian answered the door, his eyes lit with concern as soon as he realized who it was. But before he could get a word out, Marinette reached up and pulled him down for a soft kiss.
"Thank you. Thank you so much for respecting me."
"Angel, where did this come from?" Damian let out a surprised laugh as he gathered Marinette close, giving her forehead a soft kiss.
"Today just made me realize that if you find shut that treats you right, you should never let him go." Mari shrugged and smiled, pulling him in for another kiss.
Tim, who decided to exit his bedroom just at that very moment, made a gagging noise and went off to discuss with his brothers that he needed to stop coming across random make out sessions. It was getting utterly ridiculous.
Marinette set the Miraculous box down on the coffee table, as the Wayne family watched. She pulled out what looked like a pair of glasses, and smiled as Kaalki gave her a muzzle, then opened up a portal.
Out of the portal stepped Chloé Bourgeois, Luka Couffaine, and Kagami Tsurugi. The trio brightened at the sight of Marinette and rushed forward, old friends hugging onto each other for dear life.
"Are you sure the League will listen this time?" Kagami took a step back, wearily eyeing Bruce Wayne. "They've been ignoring our calls for years."
"They'll listen, we'll make them listen if it's the last thing we do." Marinette said firmly.
Soon the entire team was down in the Bat cave, facing the monitor. Ladybug stood with Ryuko, Queen Bee, Viperion, and Lady Vixen as the Justice League came onto the screen.
She forced a smile as she introduced herself, and fought back tears as she thought of the partner that would never be introduced.
If only she had been stronger, she could have saved him.
Daminette Soulmate AU Headcannons (3)
Damian was not worried. He was just going to introduce his literal soulmate to his friends and allies to the superhero community. That was the whole reason for this brunch.
It was just that Marinette should have been here already but he hadn't heard a word from her.
Ya Amar, where are you? Jon is getting rather impatient for my surprise.
Sorry Habibi. She seemed out of breath. Emergency. Final battle. Paris. Damian didn't usually get scared, it had been trained out of him, but…
It's being covered live. She added for his benefit and that was all that he needed to bolt downstairs.
"Out of my way." He snapped at Superman, pushing past him and making a bee line to the room with the giant television.
Jason and his friends were there. He snatched the remote out of Roy's hand just as he was about to hand it to his daughter and changed the channel.
Normally he would get shit for this and normally he knew better than to behave like this around a kid but he felt like his behavior right then was justified.
He ignored his father who had stormed in after him demanding he apologize to Kal-El as well as Roy insulting him.
Thankfully, Jason seemed to understand that something was wrong, he just turned his attention to the T.V. and just in time for him to find the right channel.
"-been raging for over five hours. It has been the longest duration of time for which Hawkmoth has been sighted. It seems like our heroes are fully determined not to let him get away this time."
His father had shut up, finally understanding his behavior. He placed a hand on Damian's shoulder and another on Jason's, "She'll be alright."
"We're aware of that." Damian snapped as the room started filling in with other heroes.
"We don't need you to tell us that." Jason was as tense as he was.
"I'll fly to...Paris isn't it, and help." Clark said.
Damian clenched his knuckles.
"The fuck you will!" Jason growled. "Sit your ass down and don't move."
"You will only hinder her work. No outside help until she requests it or don't you think we'd have been there already."
Both Jason and Damian loathed the fact that they couldn't be there fighting by her side but she had forbade it and as much as he hated it, her reasoning was sound.
"But we can't-"
"Kal-El," His father thankfully spoke up. "Shut up before my sons make you. I've approved this. She'll be fine, I'll explain later." More people were filling into the room, curious if what they were hearing.
The camera panned to the different heroes. "There has once again been a mass akumatization and the the battle seemed to reach a decisive point. Draka, Viperion and Queen Bee have successfully held off Hawkmoth, Mayura and Volpina as Ladybug purifies the akumatized civilians and now Lady Noir is back in the fight."
The camera shows as the teams flawless change their position so that Hawkmoth is left for Ladybug, Mayura being taken care of by Vespa and Draka and Volpina by Viperion.
However, Volpina as always did not play fair. Somehow, all three ended up away from the fight with her while Hawkmoth found a partner in Mayura against Lady.
It was impressive, the way she shifted her fighting styles and even her alter egos, going from Lady Bug to Lady Noir in a matter of seconds to counteract their attacks. She kept up wonderfully well for having two such skilled adversaries.
But they had been fighting for hours and it was very clear to Damian that the Kwamis wouldn't be able to keep doing this.
He was so glad at that moment that there was a bunch of superheroes in his house. If needed be, Marinette would get the whole Super community as backup if she asked.
However, she was still outnumbered and soon she found herself in a dead end with both Hawkmoth and Mayura caging her.
"That's it." Jason cursed. "We're going."
Damian wanted to agree with him but he felt her determination, her decisiveness and he smirked.
"No wait." He pushed his brother back to sit. Jason turned to look at him like he was crazy which soon turned into confusion as he saw his expression. He knew Jason still had some trouble adjusting with their bond.
"She has a plan." He confided. "She has them right where she wants them."
Jason stared at him for a few more seconds before he turned back to the screen.
"Give me your Miraculous and I won't hurt you." So predictable. Damian almost rolled his eyes.
His soulmate slowly raised her hands up, trying to seem as a non-threat, which is why they were taken by surprise when she extended her baton so that it slammed into Mayura's stomach.
Immediately after she vaulted over her fallen villian, letting her transformation roll off. She rolled on the ground, to hide her face and brought a hood and a mask that hid her mouth and nose up.
"Is that your league uniform?" Jason asked Damian.
"It's based off of it." He replied. "She liked it so she made one for herself in parallel with my new one."
"So you have a fancy costume, doesn't mean you can beat me now. It reduces your chances actually."
Even through the mask Damian could see her annoyance.
Mayura charged at her. She was clearly the smarter one of the two villains, her doom came with the fact that she listened to Hawkmoth.
Marinette seemed to see that too because she whipped out a gun.
"Did you give her the gun?" Damian asked amused.
"Of course, I did." Jason seemed smug that she was actually using it.
Before the villians could react, she made a perfect shot, aiming at Hawkmoth's Miraculous.
Of course, a normal weapon wouldn't hurt a transformed hero, where their skin was covered but momentum was more than enough to make his butterfly brooch fall, letting the transformation off and revealing Gabriel Agreste to the world.
Before he could do anything else Marinette threw a bola at him, incapacitating him. It was rather funny seeing him wriggle around like a worm.
"I gave her the bola too." Jason informed the room. No one was surprised.
That left Mayura. She leapt in front of Gabriel, intending to take him away but Marinette threw something, once again with terrifying precision that ended up with the peacock Miraculous pinned to the wall and one unveiled and frozen Natalie Sancoeur.
The camera panned to the object and showed it as a batarang.
"I gave her that one." His father informed them, he didn't need to look over to know that he was smirking or that the other occupants of the room were staring at them in total confusion.
Meanwhile, Marinette had already recovered both of the Miraculous.
"How-" Natalie asked as Marinette walked to her. She didn't seem interested in fighting anymore, she seemed too shaken up.
 Marinette simply smirked, not that it was visible to anyone. "The sincerest compliments from the Batfam." Then she decked Natalie knocking her unconscious, right in time for the other heroes to land on the roof.
Dick and Stephanie whooped and Tim and Cass laughed. Damian hadn't noticed when they came in.
"Good job." Draka said, throwing Volpina down.
"Likewise." She stepped back and out the gun back in it's holster on her thigh.
"Spots on."
Ladybug crouched next to Volpina, and took her necklace and crushed it, a dark butterfly coming out of it.
She made quick work of purifying it, leaving Lila Rossi there.
The heroes each grabbed a villain and made the way to the police as Ladybug summoned her lucky charm to fix the city.
She had a smile on her face and Damian could feel how at peace she was in that moment as she followed her teammates to the police.
The camera went closer to her. "Ladybug." The voice that was reporting and that he had tuned out, called out.
"Hawkmoth has finally been defeated, how are you feeling?"
"Definitely relieved." She smiled before Turing serious. "But it's not over yet, Gabriel Agreste and Natalie Sancoeur will pay for their crimes."
"And what do you think of Paris' Golden Child, Adrien Agreste involvement in this affair?"
"Well now that they have been defeated, I can say this. Adrien Agreste is a hero. Our victory today has been possible because of him. After finding out who his father is, he came to me and together we decided on the safest course of action which was to send him away incognito." An outraged what could be heard in the background. "He will be returning to Paris shortly and will have a press conference to clarify everything. I ask of everyone in Paris to not judge a son for the sins of his father. Adrien is a hero in his own right and has suffered enough through this debacle."
"That is some shocking news. I understand that you have to deal with the police now, I won't hold you for much longer. We've noticed that you've used a batarang in your fight if I'm not wrong, and you mentioned the Batfam. Is there anything you'd like to say to them?"
"I suppose." Ladybug laughed, then she turned to the camera and winked. "Sorry for missing brunch. I'll be there as soon as I finish dealing with this."
"Damian." His father said and the whole room which consisted of almost all the heroes in the world turned to look at them. "Tell her to invite her teammates as well, I think they deserve a celebration."
Damian nodded his eyes turning blue, on the screen they could see Ladybug's eyes turning a familiar shade of green.
"Uh, are you alright?" The reporter asked. "Your eyes turned...green."
 She smiled reassuringly. "Nothing to worry about, that was just my soulmate."
"What did he say?" A voice asked and the three other heroes were seen coming back into the frame.
Ladybug smiled that one smile that promise chaos.
"Oh this is going to be good." Tim had become an admirer of her schemes. "That's the smile she gives before she's about to wreck havoc."
"Oh, not much" she said innocently, "Just that you've all been invited to brunch."
All three of them froze, while the red clad heroine looked like she was having the time of her life.
"The brunch you were supposed to be at right now?" Viperion asked.
"With the entirety of the Justice League, Young Justice, Teen Titans, the Outlaws and basically every other hero in the world." Draka continue.
"Uh huh." She smirked.
"I don't know what to wear." Vespa muttered. She seemed...in shock.
There was an enraged yell heard and Ladybug sighed. "Alright, break time is over. Let's go."
"B-but-" Vespa muttered. It was so different from the confident, sassy hero Paris knew.
"You can take something of mine." Ladybug said. "That goes for both of you as well. Now shall we get to work, or else we'll never be finished in time."
They all turned to her for orders. "Viperion, Draka you are guard duty, I also need you question them all they know about Emilie's Agreste situation."
It was clear to everyone in the room that while she was talking to her team, she was fully aware of the camera still recording her and made sure to phrase her orders in a way that the people watching would have an idea of what was going to happen next.
"I am heading to Agreste mansion to contact Adrien and find Emilie and after talking to them both I'll be reviewing the crimes Gabriel, Natalie and Lila are being charged with."
The other heroes were pleasantly surprised at how professional and organized she seemed.
"Vespa, you are going to talking to the Mayor and the police, submitting all the evidence we have against them and liasing with the Italian Embassy about Miss Rossi. Send them the evidence we have of her willing working with Hawkmoth. Also, get her parents before you do anything, because she is ultimately still a minor."
The heroes dispersed and the reporter started giving a rundown of everything that had happened, was happening and would happen.
Meanwhile, in Wayne Manor, Barry asked the question every other non-Batfam member was asking themselves.
"Okay so who the hell are they and how did we not know of them before?"
Pig Nose AU!
Also known as the Penelope AU. Also a thinly disguised Beauty and the Beast AU. Also known as My-Ancestors-Fucked-Up-So-I’m-Paying-For-It AU
Just a blatant rip off of the 2000′s film Penelope with a few creative liberties.
Years ago great-great-great-great grandaddy Graham de Vanily fell in love and got a servant in their household pregnant.
The family was like ‘ew, you can’t marry a poor girl. marry this rich noble lady instead.’
‘but i love my poor servant baby mama!’
‘too fucking bad. you want your inheritance then you gonna do as we say!’
So he marries the noble lady and servant that got spurned is sent away from the house never to be seen again. Our poor pregnant lady is obviously pissed about all of this so decides to curse the Graham de Vanily line. Since appearances meant so much to this family then the next son of Graham de Vanily blood will be born with the face of a pig and that the curse may only be broken when the child can be ‘accepted by one of their own kind’.
The family of course shrugs her off but lives in fear for the next couple generations that they will end up giving birth to a pig faced boy.
Despite all probability no one does. They have all girls.
Finally we get to modern day and the latest daughter of the Graham de Vanily house, Emilie, marries a man named Gabriel Agreste. Shortly there after they get pregnant and end up having the first boy in generations.
‘he’s healthy happy...oh dear.’ Gabriel gazed at the crying baby in the doctor’s arms.
‘what?’ Emilie visibly exhausted and emotional
‘you know how you said that your family had a superstition about having sons?’
‘yeah?’
‘it’s not just a superstition. he’s got pig ears and a snout and a tail--oh wait no, that’s just his wee-wee. we’re fine. just a nose and ears.’
‘our son has a pig face! this is not fine!’
they ask the doctor if anything can be done but it turns out there is an artery flowing through the snout that makes removal impossible.
‘so...this is not ideal.’
‘no fucking shit Gabe!’ Emilie is bawling ‘what are we gonna do? i don’t want people gawking at our son like he’s some kind of freak. it’s not his fault my great-great-whatever grandpa pissed off a pregnant witch.’
‘i have an idea’
‘please tell me it isn’t overly dramatic’
‘we fake his death and raise him in secret until he’s old enough for the curse to be broken.’
‘...’
‘so is that a yes?’
'WE ARE NOT DOING THAT!’
They took little pig boy Adrien Agreste home and kept him hidden as best they could from the press. It wasn’t until a very nosy reporter went so far as to break into the house to try and get a picture of the baby did the parents decide to take drastic action.
‘i think it is time we got a bodyguard for Adrien.’
‘i agree.’ Emilie sighed, ‘but that won’t be enough. no matter what people aren’t going to stop clamoring for Adrien.’
‘are you saying--’
‘we can fake his death. there’s a secluded mansion far from here that we can raise him in with no one being the wiser.’
‘YES!’
‘you are way too excited about faking your sons death.’
‘the drama tho! there is not gonna be a dry eye in the house when i give my eulogy.’
‘we’re doing this for Adrien’s sake! remember that you dramatic nut!’
One fake funeral and cremation of good measure the Agreste’s moved away to a nice mansion to secretly raise Adrien. They hired a bodyguard as an extra precaution to make sure he wasn’t seen by anyone outside the grounds.
Eighteen years go by and Adrien wants out of the house bad! Despite his parents trying their best to raise him normally never having any actual friends kinda sucks.
The good news is that he is old enough that they can work on breaking the curse which the family interpreted as ‘being loved by someone of noble birth’ or some bs like that.
So they set up a system to bring girls to the mansion to get to know Adrien without ever seeing his face. To this end they also hire a renowned matchmaker named, Nathalie, to help pick girls she thinks Adrien would be compatible with. Then when Adrien thinks that they have enough of a connection he reveals his face to them.
The results always end in the girls high-tailing it out of the mansion before being stopped by the body guard and taken back to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
One day Adrien is talking to this girl, Chloe. They’ve had quite a few meetings and Chloe desperately wants to see what Adrien looks like.
‘oh please won’t you come out my Adrikins! i want to see what you look like.’
Adrien hoping for the best but braced for the inevitable steps into the room with Chloe revealing his piggy snout and floppy pig ears.
‘hiya Chloe!’
‘NOPE!’ Chloe nopes out of there so fast that the body guard isn’t able to catch her and she makes it home without signing the non-disclosure agreement.
Adrien’s parents who have been watching the meetings via a security cam in the next room sigh as another girl runs for the hills. When the body guard informs them that Chloe got away Emilie is smacking her head against the table.
‘i told you we should have them sign the document before meeting him.’
Adrien comes in and sits down next to his family.
‘i’m not even surprised anymore.’
‘it’s okay, sweetie.’ his mom assures him, ‘we’ll find the right girl.’
‘what if there is no right girl? every girl i meet runs away. it’s never going to change.’
Adrien locks himself in his room to brood and sulk about his unfortunate circumstance.
Meanwhile Chloe is blowing up her social media by telling everyone that the quiet but prominent family, the Agreste’s have a pig faced secret son. Everyone calls her a loon except for one blogger that fully believes that Adrien Agreste is alive and has a pig face.
The girls get in touch and it is revealed the blogger, Alya, has a mom that got seriously injured and arrested for trying to expose the Agreste’s secret. Alya is now obsessed with it so to prove her mom’s suspicions right and teams up with Chloe to expose the truth.
‘you don’t think i’m crazy?!’ Chloe is taken aback.
‘my mama got clubbed with a surprisingly sharp stiletto trying to prove the Agreste kid was a pig. trust me when i say i believe you.’
Here Alya and Chloe come across a designer named Marinette who is struggling to make rent. They promise her a large sum of cash if she can infiltrate the Agreste mansion and get a picture of Adrien.
‘i don’t know.’ Marinette steps away from them, ‘this all sounds really gross and underhanded.’
‘i can give you rent for the next five years if you do this.’ Chloe says.
‘so do these dates have a dress code or what should i wear?’ Marinette doesn’t like the idea of manipulating this guy but rent needs paid and working part-time in a bakery is not covering the bills. And who knows. Maybe this Adrien guy will turn out to be pretty cool.
Audacity Ch 3
Start    Previous      Next
Adrien followed the boy who sabotaged his plans to Chloe’s hotel. He assumed that he just left Marinette’s home before leaving for the night. His newest strategy was to show Marinette the error of her ways by hurting her friend, before he re-did the wish. She should have told him about her new friend, he should’ve met him before they were even alone together. She made her choice. She’s going to live with it now, he mused. When he re-does the wish, she’s going to remember her friend was injured, but only because she was going to have inkling of his actions, she should know that he wasn’t going to put up with insubordination. Altering her memories wouldn’t be difficult, she’s going to believe her friend was beaten because he was dangerous, which he is. That her friend was going to hurt her, Damian did, he took her away. He was going to be her hero again. Damian, he recalled, was checking in and headed upstairs to sleep for the night.
Having all the information he needed he headed to the bakery to get the ring. He loved her but she wasn’t exactly the smartest, hiding the ring in her diary box was a huge mistake on her end. He remembered that box very well as she had to unlock Sabrina’s hand from it. Since she wouldn’t open the box for him, he needed to delay her. Knocking her out was the smartest option, she wasn’t going to remember he hit her either.
*~*~*~*
Damian wasn’t surprised that the blond idiot couldn’t even hide on the roof tops very well. He spotted Adrien, pun intended, instantaneously. His was in a bright, obnoxious red suit, and he was sitting on the edge of a roof top watching the street, only moving when he had walked into his line of sight. He was easy to divert as well, all Damian had to do was walk into the Grand Paris hotel and Adrien left as feigned checking in. He left as quickly as he entered.
*~*~*~*
Adrien stared at his room in bewilderment, it was a mess. Marinette had destroyed it searching for the earrings.
“Spots off.” He muttered. Tikki flew out of the earrings and floated in front of him.
“What’s your plan now? Marinette has the ring and her memories; you can’t win her back and you can’t beat her either.”
“That’s where you’re wrong Teeks. I’ve got the ring right here,” Adrien taunted, holding out the diary box in his hand. “and you’re going to open it for me.”
She phased through the box and barely contained her giggles at the ring inside. She recognized Mari’s craftsmanship. A fake, she gave him a fake ring. Adrien snatched the ring out of the box. Slipping on the ring, he stood waiting for Plagg to appear and when he didn’t, he glanced down at the ring to see it hadn’t changed.
“Marinette gave me a fake.” He sighed infuriated, he ripped the ring off and threw it across the room.
“I’m going to show her the error of her ways, starting with her friend. Spots on Tikki.” He shouted as he leapt out the window.
*~*~*~*
His family didn’t worry about where he was all day, they did wonder why he was going out in his suit when all they were supposed to be doing was research on the botched timeline.
“Why are you going out as Robin? You know we’re not supposed to be seen, right?” Tim questioned, not looking up from his laptop.
“I have a friend who knows why the timeline was changed.” He replied, putting the ring in a false wall. He hoped his brothers wouldn’t question him about it.
“Wait what?” Dick asked, shock written on his face. Bruce looked up from the document he was reading and raised an eyebrow in question.
“You have a friend!” Jason and Tim yelled; the shock on their faces was quite amusing to him.
“Focus idiots, the timeline. You know why we’re actually here. Magic users and speedsters felt the change and my friend knows why. I’m going to check up on her because the person responsible happens to be obsessed with her.” He snarked exasperated, at the rate they were going to make him late and he was worried about Marinette. Damian had left immediately after.
He knocked on the balcony window waiting for a response. The interval of silence was too long for it to be normal, sure she could be asleep, but she knew he was coming back after he hid the ring. Carefully climbing in through the window he could see her on the ground, unconscious. She was still breathing, that much he could see. When her side he was enraged, her jaw was starting to bruise. Adrien knocked her out, and Damian was going to skin him alive. Lifting her into his arms, she shifted closer to him. He slipped out the window back to where he and family were staying.
When he got back, his family was waiting for him, Bruce and Drake sat while Todd and Grayson stood. They were all wearing shocked expressions.
“Damian, what the hell? Did you kidnap her?”
“What? No! Fucking Adrien Agreste knocked her out.” He defended, his rage rising. He attempted to set Marinette down on one of the sofas, but she wouldn’t let go much to his family’s amusement. The snickers behind him were setting him off further.
“Come on angel, you have to let go.” He muttered; she didn’t let go much to his annoyance and relief. He shifted her around enough that he had eventually woken her up. She froze in his arms before letting out an unholy screech.
“Who in the hell are you?” She yelled, flailing out of his arms. His family let out snorts and chortles at her bewildered expression.
“It’s me, Damian. Did I forget to mention that I’m a vigilante?” He replied dryly. She shot him a glare while rubbing a hand across her cheek. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m just peachy. My ex-partner punched me in the face after he got what he wanted. Add that on top of the fact that he’s been manipulating me for the past year and that he caused my mother’s death. Yeah, I’m doing fucking swell; I’m going to tear him into pieces Damian.”
He could hear his family making noise behind them, fairly certain he heard Todd mutter Holy shit there’s two of them and decided to bite the bullet and introduce them motioning Marinette in the direction of his family.
“Marinette this is my family, unfortunately.” Damian presented, waving a hand in the general direction of his family.
“That’s rude baby bird.” One of the men standing spoke in a teasing voice.
Marinette didn’t bother to muffle her laughter at Damian’s disgruntled expression. He glared down at her and she stuck her tongue out at him in return.
“I’m Jason Todd, the old man in the chair over there is Bruce Wayne. He’s Demon Spawn’s father.” A man with the white streak in his hair introduced himself.
“I’m Dick Grayson. How did baby bird meet you, because you are too cute to have just made friends with him?” The shorter man beside Jason spoke. “The one on the laptop is Tim Drake, don’t take his silence for rudeness though.”
“Right, Damian said you know why the timeline is screwed up. Can you tell us?” Tim interrupted, turning to face Marinette and Damian. Marinette raised an eyebrow in question. “Magic users and speedsters have experienced the backlash. They’re saying it originated from Paris, but they can’t place why or how.”
“A year ago, Paris was under attack by a magical terrorist named Hawkmoth and his accomplice Mayura. He wanted the miraculous from the local heroes Ladybug and Chat Noir. A set of earrings and a ring, together those two miraculous can make any wish true. Adrien Agreste the son of Hawkmoth, Gabriel Agreste, took the earrings and wished his mother never fell into a magical coma.”
“There’s no evidence of anything like that anywhere. How do you know that?” Tim questioned; wariness etched onto his face.
“I was Ladybug. Adrien betrayed me. He used them to wish for his mother back and magic comes with a price.” Marinette responded. She paused a moment. “That price was my mother.”
“Isn’t Agreste your boyfriend? Why would he betray you? Or knock you out?” Dick inquired.
“That asshole is not my boyfriend.” She snarled. “he’s the bastard who wished for me to love him and made me lose my memories of the last year.”
Dick stared at her in shock. “He made more than one wish?”
“Yes. He wished for me to love him and manipulated me into being his.” She sneered. “Not long after my mother died either.”
“What happens when you get the earrings back? Are you going to wish the timeline back to what it was?” Jason asked, curiosity taking over the shock. “Do you have the ring to do so?”
“No, I’m not going to wish for the previous timeline. I’m not stupid enough to abuse magic like that. Damian hid the ring for me, speaking of which. Could I get that back? I want to go rip Agreste a new asshole.”
Miraculous Team and the Batboys- Mundane Monday and Plot is Connecting Maybe
HEY so thank you all for waiting, puppy plus work being mobbed is hell, so this took forever to get brain power to write... oh well.
--
Marinette was on guard when she came into class. Her meeting of the “End Gabriel Agreste” Club with its core four members—herself, Chloe, Nino and Sabrina—went well. They were now 15% away from their goal.
Apparently Felix snatched up 3% on his own and gave it to MDC while she was away. Apparently it was his way of a peace offering… or a bribe not to kill him on sight. She wasn’t sure which… yet.
Properly awake and with her favorite drink (blend of dark roast, cream and a tiny bit of Energy Mayhem Special) she was good for the day. Everyone had their usual orders in their seats.
She raised an eyebrow when she noticed a text from Red Robin on her phone, currently a rose and bird emoji label.
RR: So, scale of one to ten, how bad is it if I accidently figured out your partner?
Marinette took a deep breath at that, checked the classroom (Nino was off with Kitty Section debating how to fix the ‘off’ bit of the rift in Rose’s latest song—something about it not ‘punching right’ and Luka being busy with his other band, Chloe and Sabrina were currently fighting Bustier in her office, Alya was conspiring with the Girl Squad on Lila’s end since she wasn’t in, Max and Kim were obviously eavesdropping on that conversation while Nathaniel was off in his own world). Damian still hadn’t come in, and Adrien wasn’t in yet… she wondered if her Chaton was going to sleep in for once.
LB: Please tell me you haven’t told your team
She kept her breathing steady, not letting panic overtake. That would alert people she didn’t want knowing, to looking, which leads to suspecting and rumors and theories and she’d like to avoid that entirely—especially since she still can’t really lie.
RR: I have a feeling you would kick us all out if I did, so I haven’t.
Marinette sighed, tension leaving her shoulders.
LB: Good. Keep it that way as long as you can, okay?
RR: They’re detectives, once they have the pieces they’ll put it together… also, why is your team so easy to figure out?
Marinette winced at that.
LB: Dumb Magic Rules.
Like the one that training a wielder young will prevent corrupting them to use it for personal gain. Like the one where a Guardian cannot be a True Guardian until they connect to the entire Box or Set of kwami. Like the one where Fu can’t give up being Guardian until she’s fully fledged… and that means until she can reclaim the Nooroo and Dusuu and heal Dusuu’s miraculous. That when she does—when she does Fu is gone.
She kept her breathing steady. nothing that they wouldn’t see as Typical Marinette Fretting Over Orders… not that they knew she had those cleared for the month.
“Good morning Dupain Cheng.”
She put her phone away easily, quick to keep up Typical Marinette (no plotting or superheroing here, just Typical Marinette, Baker’s Daughter and Keeper of Secret Drink Menu).
“Hi Damian, how was your weekend?”
“Annoying.” She winced at that. He didn’t exactly have friends here, and time differences are a horrible strain on them… Maybe Ladybug should keep an eye on him… just in case. “I hope yours was adequate.”
She was really wondering who taught him French today… he was being less him and more… stuffy than usual.
“I just needed some time away...” Honestly, she needed a lifetime away from Bustier and Hawkmoth… Lila was manageable (now).
“I am glad you were able to then.”
She was wondering where her deskmate went and why he wasn’t looking at her… Maybe she overdid it last week? She—no. She is stopping her analysis brain from going off and---
“Hello Marinette,” grinned obviously Not-Adrien. Seriously—how did they all fall for it back then? Body language, facial tics, accent—its all wrong.
She narrowed her eyes, not aware that Damian was doing the same beside her.
“Aw, didn’t you miss me?”
Nino came over then, scrunching up his nose as they both could tell Fake Adrien Agreste from the real one with ease now.
“What are you doing here,” Nino was definitely tired… He was not applying his sleep schedule quiz results at all. She was so lecturing him… lunch. She could pencil it in for lunch after wrecking Felix for taking Adrien’s place for the day.
“Oh, good to see I-Love-You Girl isn’t the only one that grew a brain since I last saw you all.” Felix raised an eyebrow at Damian, lingering. Plotting. “You’re new.”
“American Transfer, leave him out of whatever’s going on in that thing you call a brain.” Marinette was not going to deal with an akuma over this. Nope. She was not dealing with that again—or a series of Akuma… God she was going to kill Felix personally if he did. Chloe was untouchable as the Mayor’s daughter, but him? She could take him down again.
“And where’s my bro?
“Your precious Ladybug,” He sneered, “didn’t cast whatever she did last time, and he’s home sick since his allergies are acting up. I figured it’d be as good a time as any to pull our old switcheroo to keep his Father-Farthest away.”
Marinette twitched at that. She knew she was forgetting something… She sent a quick text to Red Robin.
LB: Why didn’t you tell me it was Mr. Pigeon irl, not video!
RR: …you thought I figured it out from a video?
Marinette rolled her eyes openly at her phone, ignoring Nino as he threatened Felix with his own brand of Bro Shovel Speech.
LB: detectives, most of our battles are caught a decent amount on video, and most of Paris knows that Mr. Pigeon makes him sneeze. Really not a hard recon.
RR: I think you are overestimating my willingness to watch amateur video at length when I can outsource.
Marinette huffed at that.
LB: So you trusted them to not miss major clues when you were all working on different things and would miss key connections?
RR: we’re on the same page as a team. Plus, I get better info filtered with my apps
LB: Magic Fucks Things Up
RR: I’ve noticed.
She looked up to see Damian staring ahead, and wondered if she did something, or didn’t or—NO! Bad Marinette—no going down Rumination Ruin until its time to sleep. She needs daytime for Plotting, Nighttime for Anxiety and Regrets to run wild.
She kept her attention forward when class began, pointedly Not Talking To The Gremlin but not busting him either—she wasn’t going to get Adrien in trouble. Bustier may not notice the abuse signs, but a few other teachers had, and were given the ‘heads up’ by Nino and Chloe and Sabrina.
Lila was the only one unaware of the switch when she left during lunch to drop off a few deliveries her parents asked her to handle when the rush hit. Mostly to one elderly home, and one to her favorite Rescues Only center.
(if she was seen cooing at Lord Murder—yes she knows that’s a Bad Name but the giant kitty amputee was named that years ago before she was found and stubbornly refuses all other names. So, Lord Murder (Never Lady, she hisses at that) it was.)
She blinked when she saw Damian walk in on her checking the Lord Murder’s prosthetic.
“Hey Damian.”
“Dupain Cheng.”
Marinette nodded in acknowledgement and hoped he didn’t catch her calling Lord Murder “the lord and master of murder, the most deadly kitty in existence, and yes, clearly the most cunning of kitties to manage to scratch Mean ol’ Jean with the new paw when it doesn’t even have claws, because you are The Lord Murder, kitty of cuteness and wrath to all unwanted bath times.”
He was watching her then. “Lord likes you.”
Marinette raised an eyebrow, as yes, her favorite rescue (sorry Chat) likes her. She’s the one who argued them into letting them try out prosthetics and handled the funding (officially as MDC) and may have gone overboard on checking everything from the fits and materials and… yeah, okay, she could admit that the giant fluffy Norwegian Forest home in a millisecond if it wasn’t for the health code violation (soon… Gina mentioned she might stop renting out her old house soon as the current group was only a quick temp and she didn’t want someone else living there that wasn’t like family… and something about her Lost Son using it for the moment. Maybe she could convince Maman and Papa to let her do house sitting is she breaks out the Kitten Eyes.)
“Yes. Yes she does.”
Then Lord slow blinked at Damian. She wasn’t sure if she sould be offended or worry her favorite might be adopted by someone else, or glad that it was a serial pet adopter that actually took care of their pets and would be just as nuts as her about making sure Lord Murder was happy and healthy.
“I see she likes you too.”
She could feel Tikki dying in her bag… yes, she was being… awkward. She got it…
“Anyways, I should get going, still have a delivery to do and all so…”
She didn’t, she just really had no idea how to broach the Awkward that was Damian Greyson at the moment.
“See you tomorrow.”
That got him to pause. “Tomorrow?”
“Uh, gymnastics for the rest of the day, making up for what I missed so…”
“If you see the Other Grayson, tell him he is not to hug you.”
Marinette raised an eyebrow. “I…” Brother, father, maybe cousin or legal guardian or friend of his father’s. Too many possibilities, too much to spiral on that she can’t right now. SO.
“O. okay then.”
“Good.”
Marinette waited for him to leave the room, looking at a Too Amused Lord Murder.
“Don’t you start with me, I know I’m a mess on a good day. And no, I’m not overthinking this time Lord, I’m planning, there’s a difference… And no, its not an Alya Plot.”
Those went sideways too fast.
She left with ease and froze at the text from Red Robin.
RR: Can we meet up tonight? No traces that way.
She sent a time and place and –If no akumas happen.
THANK YOU ALL FOR WAITING. it has been a hellish time at work and extra shifts and war-zone lately on top of Precious Puppy Bonding and Care. As always, edits when I can get there and any comments or things you'd like to see expanded on more, leave a comment and I'll try to work it in if it flows.
As you can see, Plot Lines are converging soon.
Big Question though--what kind of Lila Exposed By Class do we want/are angling for? I can go legal or social backlash, blacklisting from Agreste brand, or some combo, or keep it a background element as I don't like how cannon Lila is written and the characters altered to make her bad lies work, so...
Other inquiry--do we want Dick to see Marinette take down someone (probably trying to rob her) on her way out of her gymnastics place on her way home using a few Obviously MIxed Gymnastics and Specific Brand of Martial Arts that feels oddly familiar to Nightwing who tells Red Robin and for him to groan as 'Coffee Angel, Why!' and then the next day its 'oh. Coffee Angel is also That Woman's Granddaughter. It all makes Sense now.' (as i hc Gina as probably busting a few drug, weapons, and human trafficking rings on occasion as how she met Jason back in the day) OR for him to only see the end as Nightwing and stare as she took them down and used her earbuds as 'makeshift handcuffs' while she's calling Sabrina as "I'm fine, no dodged their hits and yes i didn't get gassed this time... yes I'll let the medics look me over and no i'm not going to vanish before they get here unless Akuma, Yes if that happens i'll go to the hospital after--Look, i think i saw a shadow just move. I'm going on Akuma-mode now so... Thanks!" before running to meet up with Red Robin and have it take meeting Gina and looking between Gina and Marinette and how she responds to Jason trying to spar with her and then it clicks? I can go either way, but... Tim figures them out quick and straight up says at one point "I mean, Queen Bee after Style Queen, inverse colors... I've seen the multiverse, I had her pegged after seeing her in the bakery last week." All while Not Telling The Bats as Marinette's team doesn't even know and he has a feeling (correctly) she'll react Badly if she isn't the one to tell him before he comes clean, and ears her bolting as 'no support, team leader, and often absentee and likely disabled mentor, civilian life was a wreck for two years and her civilian safety net is only JUST reforming... hm. That's Famil--Oh.... well... wait until trust is there and let her move on that front, try not to set her off and offer help in what she'll allow--or risk pissing off the demi-goddess of creation and his Coffee Angel. Which he'd like to avoid, please and thank you.
Yeah, Tim is definitely going to Project on Marinette in this.
Also, I see Jason or Dick as Getting Marinette is InvolvedTM next... and Damian being the one to confirm the suspicions.
Prefer Jason Big Brothering or Dick "New Sister Mode Engaged" to suspect she's a temp hero? (Jason via Have You Seen Her in a Spar--and it's Gina's Granddaughter vs Dick 'Her Moves are Too Familiar, Maybe Ladybug uses her as a Body Double and trains her?' as the first Suspicion Arisen among the Bats.
