Cause otherwise I wouldn’t be able to watch all of this show in the original. Last I stopped at was episode 113. My goal was to watch the rest of this series before I go back to college but I’ve been caught on other shows and other stuff.

But to me so far, the dub and the sub are two different shows…

Same protagonist and same characters but yet so different in storytelling and emotion. I guess that’s what happens when you watch the dub first before the original-

What a ride. It made me love the show and Jaden/Judai Yuki even more. I plan to finish it soon in the sub. I’m almost there.

The complete power move of the yugioh gx dub to keep the same theme song for 3 seasons. Didn’t matter people were ‘being sent to the stars’ and Jaden was entering his villian and than depression arc.

No, it's not vague at all! I totally get what you mean.

I always like to reference a specific monologue Baltor gives in 3x13 where Tecna gets trapped in Omega and Tides is about to be obliterated. Icy asks him, "What about your minions, won't we need to get them out of Tides before it's gone?" to which Baltor replies, "I always assumed the mermaids wouldn't survive long enough to be part of Stage 2 of the plan." and when the Trix are like "What??" he proceeds to say, "I don't know why you look so shocked. I've already taken the magic treasures of Tides, and I can perform all their spells perfectly. There's nothing more that miserable planet can offer me. So, tell me, why would I need their mermaids?"

This is the first time we see the Trix genuinely horrified, and that is what sold him for me. He is maliciously methodical in a way the Trix have never seen. He admits so casually that the mermaids were only ever meant to be cannon fodder like he's talking about the weather. He almost says it like he's bored. Sure, Darkar was an intimidating villain, but the Trix never appeared scared of him. But they are scared of Baltor, and they repeat this tactic a couple times throughout the season to really drive that point home. It elevates Baltor to a level of villainy we as a viewer are not familiar with on the show, and if we see that the Trix are scared, then we definitely should be scared.

Code x White is finally on Crunchyroll! That was incredibly cute. I mean, Anya always is, but I loved the extra level of detail that went into Yor's expressions in this one

One of my little annoyances with the main show is that many episodes are clearly an Anya ep vs a Loid ep vs a Yor ep, which leads to some just completely whiffing. I really liked how the movie was able to dedicate sequences to one or the other of them and shift to the appropriate genre without ruining the overall flow (most of the time). That kept it consistently engaging. Tangential, I think it's really funny that none of the three caused any meaningful damage to the airship, and it was destroyed entirely due to friendly fire from the bad guys

I don't get the interactions with Nightfall. I thought Yor already knew her cover story as a colleague of Loid's from the hospital. There was the tennis arc, after all. And I've mentioned this before, but I hate how the English translates her calling him senpai into his name. That's such a big difference

I was not expecting a two minute long sequence about the Poop God. That was jarring

Things I would like: Not necessarily a full blown remake of the 2003 series, but a spin-off of sorts that takes place in either the same universe or an adjacent timeline.

Basically it'd be a bunch of short stories take place over the course of the first three and a half seasons. Mostly episodic in nature, but serious in tone like the original show. It'd be the perfect opportunity to revisit characters that only showed up for one episode (Abigail Finn, Tyler, Mrs. Morrison, etc) as well as utilize characters that weren't included either because they originated from the 1987 cartoon or simply didn't exist at the time (Bebop and Rocksteady, Mona Lisa, Alopex, Old Hob, etc.)

The big finale would be a two to three part remake of Prodigal Son because while I don't personally hate it as the conclusion to Leo's S4 arc, it did always feel rather rushed to me (really, it feels like it should have been a two parter at least? But it was the 16th episode of the season and they still had all the stuff with the Outbreak virus and Donatello's double mutation to get to.) Plus the idea of it ending with the turtles moving into their new home due to the old one getting destroyed sounds perfect when you remember that is exactly how the original series started.

i'll say this: as a fat person, not only i love hayato but i'm so happy and surprised with his character?

i know the bar is in hell for us when it comes to rep that isn't joke characters but hayato maeda is genuinely one of the best fat characters in anime i've had the pleasure to watch. i've counted like two food jokes in 42 episodes and theyre not about him being fat but about them (judai, sho and hayato) as a friend group being hungry teens which you know what, fine! he's kind and he's resourceful and he's a softie who cares deeply about his friends. he has a genuine character arc about outgrowing his insecurities in dueling and realizing his true strengths lie somewhere else and that he doesn't need to be like everybody else in the osiris red doorms. i love hayato, so so much.

Imagine if Kazuki Takahashi wrote Ryou Bakura as being half british-half japanese in the Yugioh timeline I wonder how his character would be different if he was written that way. for starters I can see racism being included in Bakura story like his bullies founding out he not fully japanese and using it as blackmail for him and to add to that his fangirls fetishizing him for being half white. in addition to all this it would add a layer of ostracism and otherness he would face not helped that Yami Bakura would make his life worse sending the people who tormeted Ryou into comas or shadow gaming them. on a side note the 4kids version would be accurate this time for giving Bakura a british accent also the british memes would be rampant in the fandom

You know how white characters in anime usually speak/swear in English every now and then? I'd imagine Yami Bakura doing that.
