I think Laszlo doesn't want to be honest with himself with some of his feelings toward Nadja (this mostly talks about the best friend thing but I suspect he also refuses to acknowledge some resentment against her for turning him).

Okay so I think I've figured out Seonwoo's problem. I went back to re-watch and make note of who called whom and who everyone had been on dates with and realised I had completely forgotten what happened with Seonwoo in the first episode.

Seonwoo was crushing on Junsung!!

They did the washing up together after dinner on the first night. There was some playful banter and SW started crushing on JS.

SW's first phone call was to JS. JS answered in front of Sungho but wouldn't tell him who called. SW got 3 calls that night but JS wasn't one of them.

SW stated his type is someone who takes the lead and makes the first move. JS very much is this type and stated he has dated everyone he's ever been interested in (our boy is persistent). SW likes this. SW wants this. (Yoonghee also fits this type but SW said from night 1 that his only feelings towards YH were pity after receiving his phone call).

SW starts to get his pride hurt knowing he's popular in the house but not with JS. SH picked SW for the first proper date. Before the date, people start speculating on how much time JS and SH spend in the bedroom with the door closed. SW finds a reason to interrupt them. I assumed that this was about SW hanging out with SH but after the re-watch, it's clearly about SW's interest in JS.

SW makes a comment that he has someone he's interested in but he will try three times and if they don't reciprocate then he'll move on. (Very practical especially when you remember that he only came out about a week before the show started) JS never responded to any of SW's flirting or the phone call. So SW took that as his sign and gave up. So now he's untethered, and reassessing his options. There are three openly dominant men in the house (SW's type). They are: Junsung who isn't interested, Minsung who SW views as a friend, and Yoonghee who SW isn't attracted to. His options are fairly shit so it seems he's sort of given up. He persists in going on a date with SH because their date got cancelled and he sees it as the polite thing to do even though he spends the date telling SH how he's not his type and seems very surprised during Jenga when SH says he wants another date with him.

But then he seems to decide to fight for JS. He sits down to discuss things with JS and is surprised to find out JS is set on SH and sees SW as a rival. He brings this up a few times afterwards, in what I first thought was just a dick move, but now realise was SW's way of trying to restart the playful banter from day one or at least get some of JS' attention. He severely underestimates how serious JS is about SH.

At the bbq JS gives his coat to SH. SW then goes and gets a spare coat that he left on the couch by the door. He catches JS in the doorway and offers him the "conveniently available" coat. JS straight up rejected it then told the camera: I gave my coat to someone I like, I'm not then going to wear another man's coat. And proceeded to freeze his balls off as a matter of chivalry.

In conclusion Seonwoo coming across as an ass because he has no chance with the one guy he actually likes and he knows it. His pride has been hurt and now he's just going through the motions. He hasn't mentioned it since the first day, not even in the private interview bits, which tells me he really likes this guy. Personally I think he's not saying it is because he knows he has no chance and is trying to deal with damage control of how he's presented on the show and I don't blame him. I would do the same, honestly.

I was all set to hate him as a player or a heartless prick but now I just feel sorry for him because I, like everyone else, am hoping for 2sung pairing.

CHAPTER 3: NON-CONSENSUAL MAGNETISM

Okay, I have enough time to digest everything that had happened so far.

I think Phee, with the help of Tan, and/or maybe, White (because I don't believe the masked killer is just one man and they are also new addition to the group) has managed to drug the gang's food and drinks in episode 1 to explain all those hallucinations that White (skin disease), Top (the flickering lights and killer in the bathroom), Fluke (the dying Por trying to strangle him to death), and Jin (seeing a bloodied Mr Keng whilst they were trapped in that abandoned bulding) had in the following episodes. Either they were drugged before all the sh*t went down or Phee (and his accomplice/s) has other ways to keep the gang seeing things that are not really there. Also, with Top's sudden willingness to kill all his friends makes me think that whatever drug they are using, it is strong enough to induce such reaction from Top. He didn't even blink twice as he finished Por off - even though the flashbacks had clearly shown that Top always makes an effort to stay on Por's good side because of the latter's money and powerful family.

I also think drugging the gang is a good callback since Tee has basically done the same to Non before he went berserk and tried to kill the gang for reals before he "disappeared". In addition, the fact that he was able to recreate the deaths in Non's re-written script makes me think Phee has Non's computer.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if either Phee (or even Non, actually) knows the full extent of Jin's betrayal. I mean, Non has essentially blacked out while Jin was trying to apologise. Still, Phee using Jin's tendency to catch feelings and get petty when the other party would not reciprocate feels like Phee is somewhat aware that Jin is far from innocent.

Also, I'm reading theories that, given they still haven't found a body, Non might still be alive. I'm still on the fence with that theory, because so far, aside from Scream, this series also gives me Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho vibes wherein the killer's 'motivation' is alive but only in spirit (hello, shower scene with Norman Bates dressed as his long dead mother).

Again, I believe that Phee has an accomplice in his schemes. Some people are theorising that either Tan or White is Non's never-before-seen brother, New. Honestly, if this theory is correct, I would really want it to be White because I cannot bear the thought of him dying due to his relationship with Tee. I don't know what Tan's involvement in this mess, but I also don't believe that he is just some unlucky bystander who sucked at choosing a friend group to join in his new school.

Oh, I forgot. That knife that the gang retrieved from the closet looks awfully the same as the knife Non originally brought to murder the cvnts during their last shooting. Also, the fact that the fvckers include the scene where Non was trying to stab Top for real in the final cut of their movie (as shown in the theater) is all kinds of effed up.

I will repeat though that those little fvckers deserved what is coming to them. Especially Tee.

Harry wearing the The Wall shirt reminded me, because mine was a few years ago when Louis played a famous venue that Pink Floyd also played back in the day, so people went through their discography for clues. There are more than a few songs in there literally about being a musician abused by the industry, but for some reason they focused on songs about rising facism in the UK and anxiety about nuclear war. Call me a fake fan but i don’t think babygate is as bad as state-sponsored hate crimes.

Well most of the theories i disagree with are to do with interpretation of song lyrics, or hearing Harry sing "you" as "Lou" from grainy videos and so forth. Finding meaning and connections in rings, clothes and numerology i don't always agree with. Some times i see people trying to interpret one thing and finding meaning that they interpret into another thing they've already stated as fact. I also see alot of confirmation bias. Most of the fans doing that are newbies desperately searching for clues that (1) larry is real (2) babygate is fake (3) they are coming out. They need 'new' evidence of this, beause they missed out on all the fun things before they came into the fandom. A lot of is down to insecurity.

For us who's been here awhile we were used to looking for signals and hints (because they were really signaling ie. with rbb and sbb). We were trained FBI agents. Now that HL don't do that anymore (to that degree at least) people are looking for things that, many times, aren’t there. I can't really blame them because we were trained to pick up on subtle signs and because the newbies really missed out on a lot. I've never been ashamed of fandom when it comes to creating theories. It's just a handful of people who interpret things a bit wrong. I don't sweat the small stuff. It's harmless. Let them have fun (being wrong 🤣).

In any case, even if we felt that the intentions of the creators mattered, if a so-called system constantly produced outcomes contrary to the stated intentions, well, at some point, you need to either reform the system or scrap it entirely. Because there comes a point where continuing to carry on as before without so much as trying to throw something into the gears, becomes a dereliction of duty, and you become complicit in what the system does, like it or not.

Basically if you know a person is drowning and don’t throw them a life preserver or do literally anything to get them help, and that person drowns, then you are responsible for their death.

And that scenario is being generous in that it assumes that the person who left the poor schmoe to drown, played no part in the drowning victim winding up in that situation in the first place, like didn’t shove them into the water with weights strapped to them or something.

The following is a breakdown of a very quick, successful, and EXTREMELY geeky hyperfocus, so niche as to be obnoxious to almost everyone 🤣🤣

A) that piece is not Elizabethan, but is Baroque, and by the style is probably Handel

B) you recognise it from a film.

3) Realise that whatever film you recognise it from featured it at an event at Versailles.

4) Make an educated guess that the film is Man in the Iron Mask from 1998.

5) Search YouTube for a relevant sounding piece from the soundtrack, aim for "The Masked Ball", which was a scene of a royal event at Versailles.

6) Hear a very similar piece of music, head straight to the comments.

7) Find the predictable comment from a fellow music nerd that states it's a rendition of Handel's Music for The Royal Fireworks, and even states it's Minuet II (which saves sifting through some 20 minutes of music)

8) Confirm by listening to Minuet II

9) Indulge in the joyous feeling of copious dopamine flooding your brain.
