FTWS Holiday Exchange 2024

Hello Fate fandom!

2024 is going to be our fourth HEX and we can't wait to see what everyone creates!

Event Timeline:

October 1: Signups begin

October 18th: Signups close

October 20th: The mods distribute matches. The secrets begin!

October - November - December: Work on your gifts, anonymously message your giftees, and chat with us while you work!

December 26th: Posting begins

December 31st: Posting ends

How It Works:

The Holiday Exchange works like a Secret Santa: You receive something, but you also have to gift something.

You will fill out the google form telling us what ships and formats you want to be gifted, and what you're willing to give.

You can make or choose to receive a fic, a fanart, gifset or fan video.

New this year: You can also sign up to be a beta using the google form!

We (the WinxSource team) will match you up with someone with similar preferences and send you the details for you to make your gift.

All of this is a secret, so you’ll only reveal who you’re gifting once posting begins.

To sign up, please follow WinxSource and fill out the google form here.

As a matter of fairness, if you're writing a fic, please make your story at least 1000 words, a gifset at least 2 gifs long, or a video at least 1 minute long.

This is an exchange for fictional characters, not real people fiction (RPF).

Assignments are a secret, but we also want to revel in the process! Once you get your assignment, we encourage you to ANONYMOUSLY contact the person you’ll be gifting. Reach out on anon to ask for more details on the prompt, tease your giftee, or just to let your match know you're working on their gift. Part of the fun is trying to guess who’s doing a gift for you!

If you sign up for the event but something happens that you can't produce the gift in time, you must contact us and let us know so we can find someone else to make the gift in your place.

(NEW): Your entire gift must be posted in the posting window. You are welcome to write a multichap, or create more than one fanart, gifset, or video, but everything must be complete and posted by December 31st. We want to make the event more fun for recipients who are not waiting weeks or months for the entirety of their gift.

(NEW): We are a creative server who supports artists. We will not allow any gifts that are created using generative AI - this includes fics, gifs, fanart, video edits, and songs.

(NEW): You must create a new project. You may not continue an existing project, no matter how closely it resembles what your giftee is asking for. No adding chapters to existing fics or series of drawings/gifsets/videos. Let's give something brand new!

When posting on tumblr, please tag #winxsource and #ftwsholidayexchange within the first 5 tags so we can reblog it! This includes anon asks you receive about your gift. Fic writers can also add their works to the collection on ao3 (ftws_holidayexchange21)

Are you named after anyone? A little girl my parents knew. I wanna say they used to babysit her, but I could be getting my stories mixed up. Dad thought she was just the cutest thing, and he loved her name. I've never met her myself, but she did wish me a happy birthday on my mom's Facebook post about me turning 20.

When was the last time you cried? Yesterday. Some video of a guy doing something nice got me.

Do you have kids? No kids, just a lot of cats. But I do have a five-year-old in Peru that I sponsor.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? It's my first language.

What sports do you play/have you played? Kickball, and my sister's been attempting to teach me pickleball. Once in a blue moon my family gets the volleyball bug, and we get a big group together for that, but kickball is our go-to.

What’s the first thing you notice about people? Their face? I guess?? I'm not the most observant person.

What’s your eye color? Dark blue.

Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings ftw!!

Any special talents? Writing, singing, and drawing. I can't do anything super realistic in the drawing department, but I am good at nailing expressions.

Where were you born? My parents' bedroom in our old mobile home.

What are your hobbies? Writing, making fan vids and gifsets, the occasional crochet project, photographing my cats and pretty things outside.

Do you have pets? Many cats. Some of them are strays/dumpees, some are my uncle's barn cats who migrated to my house, some are descendants of my house cat from her philandering days. I have 3 cats indoors (first cat + two of her daughters), plus my sister's Petsmart adoptee. We have two dogs that were dumped down our road, and one who was adopted from a shelter.

How tall are you? 5'8"

Favorite subject in school? English and literature (yes, just "literature", there was no specifying adjective in front of it. 🌸Just homeschool curriculum things. 🌸)

Dream job? Author. Not necessarily a bestseller, but a big seller at least. I'd also really love to be an engine mechanic, but upper body strength is not something I have in spades, and I would need to seriously up my hands' skin care.

oh yes the whole "i had a family! i got rid of them!" etc etc YESSS that would be soooo good for a parallel. I also wasn't really sure what the vignette meant by itself when it aired i was like??? did they Move?? lmfao i didn't connect it with the drinking or him sitting there alone, but as SOON as i saw he was missing the ring tonight i was like HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE NOW !!!!! what if his wife left in kayfabe!!! ahhh!!! im about to make gifs of that bit right now and make gifs of the vignette to go with it, idk what im gonna do exactly but the dots are connected!!!! im pretty sure that's what he wants us to think is that this has fucked him up so badly and his life is in shambles because of what swerve did to him ksjdgfhdgj it's soooo good he's so good at this

no because i noticed it wasnt there either and it fits with the vignette, all his baby’s stuff being gone and the house being empty and him drinking (also im pretty sure he always wears it when he wrestles, that’s why it was so apparent when they did the close up and i didn’t see it) like im pretty sure this man does these things on purpose for the story like???

Or, like my sibling pointed out too what if he gave up everything, including his family(just like Swerve did). Bc he thinks that's what it would finally take to beat Swerve.

1/2 Recently you’ve gotten a few asks about Eames & the first time he sees Arthur doing [insert something salacious or ridiculously innocent] & i’ve been loving it! But let’s turn the tables on arthur now! What about the first time Arthur sees Eames after he’s had to bulk up for something, the first time Arthur gets a full view of Eames’ tattoos rather than just a peek, the first time he sees Eames in a fitted suit or with a beard?? (Think Tom in the drop. Soft bearded eames ftw!)

2/2 even better if all these instances happen pre-get together or prior to them becoming coworkers/friends with benefits. I think Eames has suffered enough in his pining and thirsting; it’s time for Arthur’s turn 😏

Okay so I took a hot second to answer this one because your ask really inspired me to make a gifset based off of this, but the last couple of days have been a bit of a shitshow so that is on the backburner for now.

Okay, okay - so, Arthur first seeing Eames all bulky and hirsute - like Arthur didn't even know that was a thing that he was into. He's always dated clean cut men and suddenly here comes Eames of all people, beefy and thick and hairy and looking as if he could pick Arthur up and throw him across the room. It's a regular Tuesday morning, Arthur is nursing a lukewarm coffee when he has, for the first time in his life, the sudden urge to be manhandled. He wants to tussle like a schoolboy. He wants to know how wide his knees would have to spread if he were to straddle Eames' waist, his thighs.

And Eames is just standing there, on the other side of the warehouse, stroking his (surprisingly ginger and very well-maintained) beard absent-mindedly, talking to Cobb. Somehow Eames looks incredibly soft and firm at the same time and it's doing things to Arthur. This is his first crisis of self.

Maybe it's the height of summer and Eames has taken to walking around in a muscle tee (thank u tom hardy) - maybe he unbuttons his shirt a bit and fans himself with Arthurs paperwork and has the audacity to be competent at his job while he's doing it (the worst part of it all!), meanwhile Arthur's entire world has been narrowed down to a few simple words like beard and soft, and i like bicep, and they rotate around in his brain like a rotisserie chicken while he's trying to do his damn job. Second crisis.

Does Eames cotton on that Arthur is having his entire world flipped upside down? Probably not. I think he's great at reading people but when it comes to Arthur Eames cannot look at him objectively, can't read him without his own wants, desires and hopes clouding his judgement. Is Arthur licking his lips more often? Yes, but it is summer and Arthur may be parched. If Arthur is attracted to him he's never said it, and Arthur never has a problem telling Eames what he thinks (right?).
