heath leaned against the edge of the desk, his arms crossed loosely, a mix of impatience and weariness etched across his face. as soon as levi stepped inside, heath spoke, his tone sharp but tinged with a trace of something lighter, an attempt to mask his tension "well" he started, his eyes meeting levi’s briefly "any chance the guy's gonna get through it?" the words hung in the air, casual on the surface but carrying an underlying of urgency.

the other didn’t respond right away, his silence making the seconds feel heavier. heath ran a hand through his hair, exhaling hard "look, i reckon got a lil carried away" he admitted, his voice quieter now but no less tense. he shifted his weight, as though standing still made him itch "the guy just caught me wron', ya know? bad day, bad timin'. but he’s holdin’ somethin’ i need - information. so, doc, ya think there’s 'nythin' ya can do?"

After what was only meant to be a solid few weeks away from the gym turned into a solid few months instead — Aslihan's hospital stay and the act of actually caring for a newborn making sure that working out was the last thing on his mind — Elijah was less than eager to get back into the routine he once had. Not that he didn't genuinely enjoy getting to unplug for an hour or two at the machines, but it was always extraordinarily rough for him as he tried to reintroduce the habit again. He always wound up forgetting something, or pushing himself too hard, or wanting to leave before he even started. Alas, he still found himself at Peak Fitness with a gap of time to fill, staring down at the weights for the bench press with an apprehensive look on his face. "Definitely a bad idea to just load this thing with weights as if I haven't totally skipped the gym in three months, right?" His hands rested on his lips, looking at the nearest person who seemed to be gearing to use a similar machine. "What do you think?"

“All in a day’s work.” Levi mused as the individual he alerted about the nearby obstructions turned out to be a familiar face. “Yeah? Who knows when they’ll be done at this point. But I can let you know when they finally do so you can check out the event space without all the commotion.” He offered to Ines, as he was certain that the resort would be thrilled that there was another prospective renter for the room so quickly right after a large event. “Can’t say you missed that much at the Masquerade anyway. I mean, it was great for the business and charity, though.” The work piling up on his desk recently was a direct testament to the gala’s success and he did not miss how uncomfortably the masks became under the blinding lights as the night went on. “I have not. And wow, free food sounds like too good of an offer to pass up.” Besides, Levi did have some freed up time at the moment since he wasn’t getting anywhere currently with his usual track blocked. “Bringing back something is a solid idea too.” Levi nodded, knowing some of his co-workers would appreciate it since they were likely just as tied up. “You’re not wrong, it has been busier than usual around here the past couple days. But, kind of expected it.” He grimaced. “Don’t worry about me. — Luther’s crazy as always for you too?”

of course gajeel saw it as a competition and tried to one up him with obscure dragon gifts until levy 'emotional intelligence' mcgarden realised he was up to something and corrected him.

with a slight, deliberate nod of his head, heath signaled his request at a nearby person. it was a subtle but clear gesture, laden with the unspoken expectation that the table would be set up for the next round. the other, catching the drift immediately, responded with a brief nod of their own, moving efficiently to gather the scattered balls and rack them up for the next round. the man watched for a moment, appreciating the smooth transition, before turning his attention to levi.

"ya know what? take it as a 'welcome home' gift” heath began, offering a furtive grin, stepping closer as the table was being rearranged "for old times’ sake, back when ya’d disappear for months on end” a pause “well - i trust yer back to stay this time" a warning, if you want to put it in those words “it's good to see ya mon ami” he playfully said “how 'bout this: i’ll trade the two drinks ya offer for some info. so, ‘nythin’ worth my time?”

Leviathan, like the rest of the crowd, had been standing in awe watching Heath's performance at the game of pool. He hadn't come here in search of the man, full coincidence they happened to be at the same bar, but it was a delightful surprise seeing the other here. Much like Heath used to watch his fights attentively, Levi found himself watching Heath's game with the same interest.

His loyalty to Heath wasn't something Levi told anyone, in fact, nobody knew about it, but it was something he was very serious about. Granted he was sure the older man probably thought he was just full of crap, given how he disappears from time to time.

Ocean blue eyes scan the crowd when Heath announces a challenge, sipping his drink, wondering if anyone would step up. His eyes go back to the table after a second, contemplating stepping up, before he's distracted hearing Heath's familiar voice directed in his direction. "Oh, you know me, mon ami. I don't like to step down from a challenge." He grins, stepping forward. "Win or lose, next drink is on you." He walks to grab a cue stick, setting his half-finished drink down on a nearby table. "If you win, however, I'll buy you two after our next round."
