It kinda kills me inside a little bit that World Trigger is such a difficult to recommend story. The character writing is great, the power system is very well thought out, and the fight scenes are brilliantly written. However, that all means that it's a very information dense story. And that's before it starts introducing over a hundred named characters. They aren't one-off characters either, where you can just forget them and never have to worry about them showing up again, no. You better be keeping track of who's who and their affiliations, because they will be having a continued presence in the story. This makes it especially hard for people who are only really invested in the main characters in stories and don't care about side characters, because a lot of screen time and development is devoted to the supporting characters.

It gets even worse if a person would rather watch anime over manga, because the first season of the anime is Like That. How do you recommend an anime to someone, when the best way to experience it is to read XYZ number of chapters, and then watch seasons 2 and 3!??

My brain: Kyo knew since the beginning who Tohru was, and when he meets her, he has just come back from four months of grieving her mother's death and blaming himself for it.

one of my favourite things about fruits basket is that tohru just... didn't want to fall in love with someone. like sis isn't a tsundere, it's not that she isn't open to love; she just felt like she was betraying her mom by loving someone more than she loved her mom. And i love it because when she finally admitted her feelings, it was great. kyo handled his shit and they got together
