My father loved apricots and plums, so he planted 2 apricot trees in the front yard and a couple plums trees in back with more than a couple different grafted varieties. Then there were all the other fruit and citrus trees. I ate green fruit, ripe fruit, rotting fruit, sulphur dried fruit and dried fruit without sulphur, various (mixed) fruit jams, etc. I didn’t realize then how lucky I was, but bits of that lucky childhood often come back , like while tasting this Abrikoos Rabarber Lambik from Oude Geuzestekerij De Oude Cam, which wasn’t overpoweringly fruity, rather a lambic with fruit; luckily not a tart bomb as I’ve tasted from De Cam in the past, but one that was nicely balanced. No complaints here. This Quetsche à l’Ancienne 2018/2019 was simply a fruity lambic heaven delight... Last month in CA I enjoyed plucking - and snacking on -my father’s plums, so I figured the time was ripe to again try Gueuzerie Tilquin’s unique plum lambic... and it was so delicious (didn’t I already say this?). Young and fruity, and quite hazy, even though I’m sure I was careful enough not to disturb it. Should I have waited another year to let it settle? I have no idea. I will buy another bottle to open in a years time to find out, but regardless this bottle’s fruity haziness didn’t bother me at all - maybe because I tasted and loved too many hazy NE IPA’s last month while in the US. I don’t know, and I don’t care. Either way, YUM. On another side, I’ve been getting myself in shape these days by biking along Flanders’ biking network, and yesterday I headed out to knooppunt 272 in Limburg for a trip through Pijnven’s canopy (see other photos). Nothin’ like feelin’ in kick ass shape, riding/flying through the trees, and just lovin’ the beer before me.
