Peking duck: The Quintessential Chinese Delicacy
Generally, Pekin duck includes a meticulous course of air-drying the duck and broiling it flawlessly, bringing about fresh skin and delicate, delicious meat. In any case, making this delicacy at home can be testing, which is the reason numerous food sweethearts go to connoisseur online food stores that offer prepared-to-cook or even pre-broiled Peking duck. The Pekin duck is effectively conspicuous by its radiant white quills, orange bill, and upstanding stance.
These ducks are medium to enormous in size, normally weighing between 8 and 11 pounds when mature. One of the variety's most distinctive elements is its quick development rate. A Pekin duck can arrive at market weight in only seven to nine weeks, making it an appealing choice for ranchers hoping to create meat proficiently. One more extraordinary quality of the Pekin duck is its well-disposed and inquisitive nature, making it famous in horticulture as well as a pet and display creature.

Lobster meat frozen can help overcome these obstructions, making it open at whatever point of the year and at extra extreme expenses. Each decision has advantages: entire lobster tails, for example, are perfect for grilling or baking, while snare and knuckle meat is great for lobster rolls, pasta, and chowders. For individuals who need to see the value in lobster easily, frozen lobster meat is a draw-in decision.

@jegulus-microfic | april 30, prompt: sky | word count: 1.927 featuring older ceo regulus black and younger secretary james potter part 2 | part 1 AKA word on the street is i Excel in the sheets
“Erh…” he tries after a stretch of silence. “So, how was your day?”
Regulus pins him frozen to place with a look, a sign spelling ‘stupid’ nailed right into his forehead. “You know how my day was. You manage my schedule.”
Damn, tough crowd. “Okay,” James drawls, a little unsure. “But, like, how did it go?”
The place functions as any other hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves just a handful of people throughout the day, most of whom are loyal customers returning every so often for a comfort meal when homesickness becomes a little too much to bear. Even now, there are only a couple of people scattered about, none of which pay any mind to either Regulus or James.
“So, first impressions?” James asks when he takes a seat across from him.
“It’s satisfactory.”
“Satisfactory.” James blinks.
Regulus is quiet. He looks terribly out of place wearing a luxury suit exported from one of the globe’s corners and James can’t help but feel a little guilty. He’s seen Regulus carve into lobster with only a fork and knife but still can’t help but worry about future dry cleaning prices for which he may or may not be responsible.
Regulus, perhaps finally acknowledging his poor attempts at small talk to ease the awkwardness, studies him intently for a long, close moment before acquiescing. “Enervating.” Right, because Regulus is the type to unironically use words like enervating.
“The business deal?” James asks and Regulus nods. “Dude from Jakarta, right?”
“The CEO from the biggest real estate company in Jakarta,” Regulus corrects him.
Tomato, tomato. “Does this mean you get to leave work at a reasonable hour starting tomorrow?”
“I’ve never had reasonable working hours.”
“Of course, I forgot the very important detail you’re a raging workaholic.”
Regulus’ mouth sets into a firm line as his brows knit together into a censorious frown—his entire face contorting into something that’s one odd remark away from turning downright petulant. “I am not—” He stops. Breathes in. Probably recognizes James is very carefully pulling his tail and for some reason becomes decidedly collegial. “Allow me to rephrase myself. I am meticulous. I prefer finishing tasks before going home and don’t mind when it results in me staying at work a little longer. It’s inevitable as a CEO when timezones don’t work in my favor.”
Absolute bullshit. “Just last week you kept leaving the office after the cleaning shift already came by to sweep the place clean. I know because they told me.”
“I can’t see how any of this poses as a bother to you.” And there it is, the good ole Regulus Black-esque deflection.
“I’m just worried. That is all.”
Regulus’ nose twitches and he looks away, a clear indication that he no longer wants to be a willing participant in the conversation. When Regulus becomes like this, James has learned to leave it be.
Luckily, it doesn’t take long for the food to arrive. James can stop pretending to take in the beautiful sight of the night sky, cracked asphalt, and the flickering colors of traffic signs when the plate is placed on the center of the table, carrying an assortment of different meat cuts and a modest side salad that will probably be Regulus’ for the taking.
Using the table etiquette of a properly groomed aristocrat, Regulus carefully selects some vegetables to put on his plate and a modest serving of rice. He skillfully carves out some pieces around the skewer.
“Seriously,” James deadpans. “Go on, Your Royal Highness, you can use your hands for this.”
Regulus almost bridles at the mere suggestion.
“Seriously, there’s no shame in it. Here, let me do it for you”
Regulus watches as James grabs one of the skewers and uses his fork to tear chunks off, dropping a generous portion of roasted vegetables and meat on Regulus’ plate. “You want some of this flatbread?”
Regulus shakes his head and James shrugs. He swiftly mouths off a dollop of sauce on his thumb, which earns him one of Regulus’ notorious James-exclusive grimaces.
Right, table manners.
They get to eating and James is once again reminded of how much of a slow eater Regulus is. It’s like he counts his chews, jaw working diligently with the faint scrapes of his cutlery against the plate. That and he works even as he eats, almost on auto-pilot with how he takes out his phone to open Outlook.
“Using your phone at the table is rude manners,” James teases.
“I got an e-mail.”
“Of course.” He nods. “Nothing workaholic about that, no.”
“It’s an important e-mail.”
“You know I read something about how it’s also important to spend time with your employees.”  He waves around a piece of the flatbread as if to emphasize the point. “Get to know them better and all.”
“I know plenty about you,” Regulus answers as he types away.
“That so?”
Regulus looks at him, entirely indifferent as the phone is placed face-down on the table. “James Potter. Twenty-three years old. Finished your master’s degree at Oxford, with flying colors might I add. You took a gap year to travel, working all sorts of jobs to pay for your accommodation. Currently, you live near Camden and spend most of your spare time enjoying hobbies or going to the pub with your friends. You have a Joe and the Juice stamp card.”
James tries not to physically reel back. “That…” He starts, absolutely nonplussed. Someone come pick his fucking jaw off the table, it’s dropped off its hinges. “You know what Joe and the Juice is?” Impossible, all things considered. Regulus is in a tax bracket where chain restaurants might seem like fanciful inventions, the kind of places mentioned only in tales where fine dining is unheard of. There's a brief curiosity about whether this is the equivalent of discovering that Toy Story's Pizza Planet is a real place that actually serves food.
“I've come to understand that it's a venue offering juice among a broad array of meals and beverages, yes.”
Still, that’s doesn’t explain… “How do you even know all of that? I hardly even know anything about you other than that you recently turned thirty and were homeschooled for this position.” And that he’s quite fond of the occasional handful of candied macadamias when feeling particularly indulgent. James keeps a packet of it in his bag.
Regulus’ throat bobs. “I do thorough research on the people I employ”
That’s not more than thorough research at this point, far beyond the usual background checks done on new personnel. “Uh-uh. Or you stalk my Instagram during your free time.”
Regulus promptly chokes on his food. His fork falls onto the plate with a loud clatter. James nearly knocks his knee against the table as he too scrambles for the pitcher to pour him water, almost knocking over his can of Sprite in the process.
“Easy, I was just kidding.” He has half the mind to stand up and start patting him on his back to dislodge whatever molecular-sized cucumber wedged itself in his airpipe. “I doubt Mr. Black Enterprises even uses Instagram.”
Regulus looks up startled. Definitely not from the lack of air.
Oh.
Ohohohoh.
“Oh my god.” James’ face splits into a distinguished, shit-eating grin. “You do.”
“What?” It’s barely a wheeze with the way Regulus has been caught. His grip is deadly around the fork, something that should warn James to be wary.
“Instagram,” James repeats, trying his hardest not to gloat when Regulus shivers. “You use it? The Regulus Black uses Instagram? I thought you would be a member of some upper-echelon-exclusive platform instead of mingling with us.”
The worry swiftly dissipates, giving way to confusion, and then settles into something far more at ease. Although James enjoys those fleeting moments where he gets Regulus riled up, he much prefers seeing him relaxed. “Oh—I—Yes. Occasionally,” he stammers, swallowing and reaching for a napkin to dap at his mouth with. “Barty convinced me,” he hastily adds. “It’s a very private account. I’m hardly active on it.”
Sinking into his seat, James pats around for his own phone. “You should follow me.”
“Shu?”
“On Instagram. You should follow me. If you want, of course.”
The tips of Regulus’ ears turn a delicious pink as he returns his attention to his plate. “I’ll think about it.”
After some more idle talk and eating, they decide to head out before Barty ultimately decides it’s past working hours and he’s not dropping Regulus off at home—some palatial penthouse tucked away in one of London's secluded enclaves where the affluent reside, enjoying a life of extravagance as they remain shielded from the public gaze.
Nonetheless, the cherished designated driver will have to linger a bit longer, as both James and Regulus pull out their cards at the cash register. Being a very wise man, Hakeem registers the amount into the terminal and swiftly turns away, well aware that nothing good ever comes from getting involved.
James dismissively waves his hand. “You can put away your card, it’s on me.”
Of course, Regulus isn’t compliant in the slightest. “I made you feel obligated to stay longer than you intended, so it's only right that I pay.”
“I’m the one who invited you, come now.”
“And I’m the one responsible for making you miss out on dinner.”
“Nah. I told you, it was my fault. Seriously, I want to—”
He attempts to move closer, but Regulus also edges forward. Despite being shorter, Regulus exudes an air of authority that instinctively compels James to widen the gap between them and not bump into him. “And I insist.”
But luckily, James is taller and his arms are longer. “Gotta be quicker than that then.”
He extends his arm, shooting right past Regulus’ and taps his card against the terminal, smiling smugly when Regulus scowls up at him, not in the least impressed by his playing dirty. James’ lips part, a jab resting right on the tip of his tongue, something along the lines of ‘They don’t teach you this at fancy pants school?’ only for a chime to disrupt his train of thought.
Card declined.
“Low funds, Yakup,” Hakeem announces without looking over his shoulder like James isn’t sinking to his knees in embarrassment already.
“You got paid four days ago,” Regulus murmurs at his side.
“Rent and utilities were due yesterday.” It nearly comes out in a whine.
“I doubt your rent takes up your whole salary.”
“I also had to pay off my credit card,” James grits out, fumbling through his wallet looking for some cash. In an alternative universe where they’re starred in some cartoon show, the poor faux leather division coughs up dust motes.
“Seriously? How much do you make?
“Might I remind you that you pay me.”
The way Regulus clutches onto his credit card, unlimited of course, one might think the poor thing is about to fold in half. James might as well, to be honest. “Move.”
“No.” His pride’s already been hurt. “Hakeem, can I pay in installments?”
“Only if you take young Khadija out on a date.”
James considers it for a moment, but Regulus the comment only makes Regulus seethe further, “Potter, if you don’t move I’ll give you a reason to worry.”
That’s enough to convince James. He steps away, all kicked puppy-like, and watches how Regulus’ payment gets processed far quicker. “Next time’s on me.”
Regulus rolls his eyes, even as the apples of his cheeks dust pink. “Come, I’m tired and want to go home.”

FOOD SAFETY! (If it was taught by an angry Barnaby fan)
Well, since food safety is most likely to be compromised in this bullshit on top of everything else, I think it's best if we went back to agricultural roots. And stop buying food at the grocery store.
Tumblr media
I myself am going to start baking bread and teaching myself to grow vegetables. And start being extra careful about what I buy. Maybe I can convince my mom to get me some live chickens and a rooster for my birthday?
Rejecting food.
Frozen food with icicles? DO NOT EAT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SICK!
Flour that is wet on the bag? DON'T FUCKING USE.
Dented or rusted cans? HELL NO.
Slimy texture or unpleasant smell on chicken or other meats? Nuh-uh!
I'm going to impart wisdom to make sure the food you eat is SAFE. And I'm going to use photos of Barnaby to prove my goddamn point.
Tumblr media
For starters, wear a hat that holds your hair back while cooking. And wash your hands and wrists before you start (I'm assuming that during the cage sequence Barnaby washed their talons because you should wash your hands for a minimum of thirty seconds).
The danger zone for food is 135°F-41°F. Use a thermometer.
And make sure your area is clean ALWAYS. I know I sound like a nagging parent but trust me, you want very strict food safety for at least the next four years.
Wash ready to eat fruits and veggies.
Tumblr media
Check for mold and a distinct alcohol scent for fruits. ThAt is a sign of spoilage.
Tumblr media
I can't stress this enough. Do not leave cold TCS food out for too long. If it gets above 41 degrees within two hours, it's not exactly safe.
And as for fish? Buy it whole and check the eyes. And if you get a very strong seafood smell, do not eat. Lobsters and shellfish should not be eaten if given to you dead.
Do not give undercooked food to those with a compromised immune system, elderly or preschool age children.
Now time for me to talk about keeping areas clean.
Store chemicals AWAY from food. And make sure everything is clean.
Now time for me to slink back to doing stuffs. See ya!

Dragon's Fire - Ch. 1
Aemond Targaryen X Fem!Reader A/n: I'm in my writing-for-whatever-show-i'm-currently-watching era and I'm not apologizing. let me know if you'd like to be tagged in future chapters! WC: 2018 Warnings: graphic descriptions of wounds; non-canon
Tumblr media
You squatted next to the stream, exhaling into your cupped palms and rubbing your hands together to try and cajole some dexterity back into your fingers. The nights were getting colder, you noted as your breath turned to steam in the early morning air. What was it the Starks always said? Winter was coming. You shivered, whether for the cold or for the chill of foreboding that raced along your spine you weren’t entirely sure.
You dug around in your satchel for the small hammer you used to break up the thin screen of ice that had formed along the surface of the stream. Having located it, you thwunked once, twice, three times until the tool cracked the ice. The gurgling water beneath was clear and unbelievably cold, the sensation digging bone-deep as you dipped your hands into the running water. You splashed a few handfuls across your face to invigorate you, shaking off the fog of sleep in the process. Gasping from the shock, you busied yourself with dunking your waterskin and filling the two buckets you used each day for cleaning and cooking.
Your morning routine hadn’t changed in the four years since you’d come to Sea Dragon Point from King’s Landing. The hardships you’d endured in this cold, foreign land had at first burdened you to the point of almost breaking you. In your past life as an understudy with the dragonkeepers, you’d never had to concern yourself with such trivial tasks like fetching your own water. You had fled King’s Landing without thinking through the consequences of scratching a living out of the woods and the rocks and the soil. The only consequence that had been on your mind was your own execution, a threat that had spurred your flight from the capital city to this desolate, forgotten place. When you’d first come to Sea Dragon Point, you’d had a few supplies still from the larders and the pantries of King’s Landing. After you’d eaten through those, you’d found yourself on the brink of starvation and coming to terms with the fact that you knew nothing about how to survive on your own. Necessity had taken over after a few weeks, however, and you’d begun doing what needed to be done. And here you were, four years later, with little in the way of material possessions to show for your years of hard work, but immeasurably more capable and knowledgeable about life outside of the Red Keep than you’d ever dreamed possible.
After filling your buckets and the waterskin, you checked the fishing lines you’d set the night before. Of the five you had, only two had snared prey, and only one was worth keeping. You tossed the juvenile freshwater rock lobster back into the frigid stream, its shell too soft and its meat too sparse to make it worthwhile. The hefty river trout that your other trap had snared, however, would make for a fine meal, and maybe you’d have enough leftover to salt into strips of jerky. You spiked the fish quickly, not wanting it to suffer, before beginning to scale and gut it on the riverbank. The cold water would clean the fish nicely, you knew.
You were so intent on your task that you almost missed the telltale snap of a twig behind you. Almost. Unsheathing the dragonglass dagger you kept tucked into your belt at all times, you turned quickly and rose from your crouch to full height with the blade extended in front of you in the direction of the noise. The sight before you stole the breath from your lungs.
Leaned against a tree a few hundred yards from you was a ghost from your past. Glossy silver hair, pale skin, a sharp proud jawline, and a black patch over one eye. Aemond.
The dagger in front of you dropped to the frostbitten ground as your hands flew to your mouth in shock.
“Aemond!” Your mind was frozen somewhere between running to him and cursing his name, so you stayed unnaturally still, staring at him in disbelief. He chuckled at the note of terror? relief? adoration? in your voice, but immediately winced and doubled over. You hadn’t noticed before, but suddenly the details of the man before you came into focus. He was paler than usual - if such a thing were possible for a Targaryen - and he was grabbing at the bark of the tree for support, his other arm wrapped tightly against his gut as if holding himself together. Thick dollops of blood were dripping from his hand and forearm, and the single eye he still had was glassy with pain.
Moments before he toppled forward, you rushed to him, closing the space between you two and catching him with your body. He was taller than the last time you’d seen him, and more solid. You grunted with the effort of keeping him upright as his legs turned to liquid underneath him.
“You’re hurt,” you noted as if admonishing him. He chuckled again.
“Ever the astute observer,” he quipped weakly. Unable to hold him standing any longer, you tried your best to twist his body until his spine was against the trunk of the pine tree that he’d been clinging to moments before, easing him down into a sitting position. There were a thousand questions rattling around your mind like bees - how did he find you? how long had he known where you were? what had happened to him? how did he get here? why had he come? who else knew you were here? - but you couldn’t get them to be silent long enough to grab at one and force it out of your mouth. For the second time, you felt yourself frozen to the spot, your chest heaving with exertion and adrenaline.
A few moments passed before he managed to fix you with a piercing stare despite a blood loss-induced fog of delirium. “I had rather hoped you’d help me,” he rasped, motioning meaningfully to his bloodied arm with his eyes. You shook your head as if in a daze, your mouth opening without sound coming out. Why? How? Who?
“Please, y/n,” he added effortfully after watching you gasp futilely for words. “I’m dying.” The intensity with which he met your gaze knocked something loose inside you. Your heart twisted inside your chest as you quickly looked at his wounds. The arm he was favoring had a large gash running down the length of his forearm, and he was bleeding freely from it. The edges of the wound were burned and jagged, like the flesh had been torn rather than cut. You recognized the wound instantly as a dragon’s claw mark. Having seen so many of those wounds yourself as a dragonkeeper, you’d never forget it.
You reached for Aemond’s wounded arm, careful not to disturb the wound itself. He winced and bit down hard on his lip to stifle a groan of pain as he carefully extended his arm towards you. You moved aside the torn shreds of his leather bracer, still laced at the elbow, to get a closer look at the wound. The amount of blood he was losing suggested that the claw must have nicked an artery. He’d need stitches and cauterization, after cleaning the wound thoroughly. With any luck, Aemond might escape a deadly fever with the right herbs. You cursed your circumstances that you were here, hundreds of miles from the well-trained healers of the Red Keep, although Winterfell was only a hard day’s ride. You might be able to buy whatever Aemond needed in Winterfell, although you doubted you’d have access to the same level of supplies that you’d grown accustomed to in King’s Landing.
“You’re not dying, Aemond,” you soothed, poking tenderly at the flesh of his arm to test the muscles beneath. At worst, you’d have to amputate his arm beneath the elbow. As it was his right hand - his dominant - it would be an adjustment and likely a blow to his ego, but men had lived with far more grievous injuries. You chuckled softly as the surge of panic his words had wrenched out of you began to ebb.
“It’s not the arm,” he groaned. His voice sounded thick, as if he were talking through cotton. You looked up in confusion. His face had grown paler and there was a sickly, greenish cast to his skin that terrified you. He jutted his chin downward in the direction of his chest. Your eyes followed his gesture, raking over every inch of him, scouring him for signs of injury.
When you finally saw it, your heart sank into your stomach like a stone in deep water. You hadn’t noticed it initially against the black of his armor. Running up the right side of his torso and cutting across the front of his torso from left hip to right armpit was an enormous, blackened swath of flesh and armor melted together. His skin was almost completely burned off, revealing muscle and sinew and fat underneath, much of that fused with the plates of his black and gold-threaded plackart where it had turned molten against his body. His flesh was twitching, nerves and damaged muscles spasming in pain. With each breath, you saw Aemond fight against a new wave of agony.
Unable to look anymore, you turned your head away, hot tears spilling from the corners of your eyes. You knew what you’d seen: a death sentence. You fought to steady yourself and to bite down the wave of nausea that climbed up the break of your throat. When you turned back to him, he was staring into you with an intensity that terrified you. He hadn’t looked at you like that since the first night you’d…
You swallowed back the bile and the memories, unable to let yourself get distracted now, with his life in the balance. Now you understood why he’d come here, why he’d risked everything - his life, and yours - to get to you in this remote place. He knew your skill with healing, and he knew that you were familiar with this type of injury. As if confirming your thoughts, he nodded, the motion eliciting a new wince of pain.
“Dragon fire.” It wasn’t a question, more of a statement. You already knew the answer. He nodded again, his eye closing as he took a few shallow breaths.
You took in the state of his injury once more. How you’d missed the acrid, sulfur-like stench of his burn initially was a mystery. It assaulted your nose now, threatening to bring up that wave of bile you’d barely managed to swallow down. You couldn’t see how far along Aemond’s back the burn extended, but you were grateful to see that his neck, arms, and legs look relatively unscathed, with the exception of that gruesome gash.
“I need to get you back to my hut,” you stammered out, trying to swat away the small twinge of embarrassment at calling your home a hut, although it was arguably the most appropriate word you could come up with. If Aemond noticed, he didn’t show it, only nodded once and braced himself against the back of the tree. You carefully lifted his left arm up and threw it over your shoulders, bracing his body weight against yours as he rose precariously to his feet. You were careful not to touch him wherever he was burned, but it was near impossible with his entire torso wreathed in charred flesh.
“Do what you have to,” he growled through gritted teeth. “I won’t stay conscious much longer.” You took his meaning: you had to get him where he needed to go as quickly as you could, pain be damned. Stealing your own nerves, you shimmied up right against him, taking more of his weight, and started off in the direction of your home. He roared in agony most of the way, fighting to keep his screams from breaking loose. Aemond barely made it inside and onto the single cot you slept on before his eye lolled shut and he slipped into unconsciousness…

I don't know what to ask! These things always intimidate me a little, like how am I worthy to be interacting with such amazing writers??
But let me think.... Ok can I ask how Jack and Joe's week has been?
💙💙💙
This ask is from forever ago, but I meant to thank you for it when you first sent it. But after all the kind words you had for The Kennel last night, I want to 1.) thank you again for being so kind to me and 2.) try to answer this. I obviously haven't been around as often, but I do still check in and think about my boys. Here goes nothing!
"You're not serious."
Jack looks back over his shoulder, and he tries not to laugh. Joe stands in the kitchen doorway, his face frozen in horror and his eyes fixed firmly on the mottled blue-red lobster that Jack holds pinched between his thumb and forefinger. Jack should have known he wouldn't get away with this--or at least, that Joe wouldn't let the occasion pass without protest. This is, after all, a man who became a vegetarian because of his mother's highland cow wall calendar.
"You don't have to eat it, Joey."
"Neither do you," Joe replies. "You could let him go right now."
Jack sets the lobster back into the open cooler at his feet and closes the lid. "Where would you propose I do that?"
"We live on the water."
"I don't think he's from Long Island Sound. It wouldn't be very nice to abandon him so far from home."
Joe's lips purse. "You're going to boil that poor animal alive."
"That's how it's done, my love." Jack nudges the cooler with his stocking toe. "He's been chilling in there all day. He won't even feel it."
Joe stares at the cooler with disgust. "How do you know?"
"I suppose I don't. But Hallie--"
"--do not blame this on our child--"
Jack sets gentle hands on Joe's shoulders. "Hallie asked if she could try lobster."
"She wouldn't have asked if she knew that it was going to turn you into a murderer."
Jack snorts. "Well, she made a concession. I offered her crab--then I wouldn't have to do the killing--but she said Sebastian was a crab, and she didn't want to eat Sebastian."
"You walked her past the lobster tank, didn't you?"
"Yes. I am a monster. "
"Jackie--"
"She said they looked like big bugs. I guess no one's anthropomorphized lobsters yet."
Joe doesn't quite know what to say, and Jack knows it. He presses a kiss to his husband's lips.
"I promise, it will be over fast."
Joe looks down at the cooler with a sigh. "That's what they all say."
"If it's any consolation, I think Hallie only wants to try it because she gets to dip it in butter."
"Butter?"
"Yessir," Jack says, wrapping his arms around Joe's waist. "Drawn butter." He kisses Joe's neck. "I got some fresh sourdough for you," he whispers. "And your own butter warmer. They sit on top of candles. It'll be romantic."
Joe groans as Jack's teeth nibble at the meat between his neck and shoulder. Jack could certainly never be a vegetarian.
"Careful, Dr. Prescott. We need to keep it PG until Hallie's in bed."
Joe's hips buck forward. His voice is breathless. "You started it. You're just trying to--to--"
"Butter you up?" Jack says with a grin.
Joe laughs. "I love you, even if you're about to murder an innocent crustacean."

Crystalline Gala Cuisine
Been a bit since I made a festival cuisine, and since my old ones have been circulating, I guiltily figured I should make one for the Gala before it ends.  Gaolers and Tundras are both herbivores (though Gaolers also eat meat), but I headcanon that like most herbivores they will opportunistically eat fish, insects, and meat when given the chance. The dishes have a bit more mixing than the previous cuisine; in the Icefield you eat what you can and as much as you can to survive. Potato Onions are my replacement for potatos, because FR needs potatoes (and citrus and tomatoes and wheat and rice and spices).
Seeker Stew- originally a stew of necessity for traveling Seekers, it was made of dried Sea Grass, small Cragside Mussels, canned Common Minnows, Sour Elk milk, and spoiled Turnips. The dish was transformed back home, using fresh Spinach, meaty Olympia Oysters, Jumbo Shrimp, new Potato Onions, and…sour Snowfall Elk milk. Funk is flavor!
Shalefin in a Fur Coat- this uniquely named dish is a layered salad, like the layers of a Tundra fur coat. It is made of finely sliced pickled Shalefin fillets, grated Potato Onion, Gradish, and Honeycrisp Apple, and chopped hard-boiled Flecked Bushrunner eggs. The key binding ingredient is a flavorful mayonnaise made of Elk tallow, Dappled Clucker yolks, and dill.
Bear in a Cave Dumplings-a favorite of the Fae scholars of the Frozen Sanctum. It is a boiled or fried Potato Onion dumpling filled with fried Wooly Bear, Wild Onion, and Dryad's Saddle. It can be served with melted Elk milk butter and Winter’s Delight jam or a white sauce spiced with dried Dusky Mealworm and imported Golden Pepper.
Tundra Grub- a dish named after the main protein of the dish: a sausage filled with Tundra Grub meat, Longneck-grown oats, and Elk blood. The sausage is fried along with strips of Tundra Cactus before being added to an earthy brown sauce of Mycena Mushroom and Earthworms. It is typically served with an unleavened flatbread made of rye or Longneck oats, or a mash of Potato Onion.
Woodland Turkey Dinner- this was once a seasonal dish, but now is common year-round. While the star of the dinner is the roasted Woodland Turkey, the side dishes are just as essential. The most common is: Deep Sea Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp stuffing, roasted Winter Brussel Sprouts with a Superberry vinegarette, Tundra Grub and Potato Onion mash with Mycena Mushroom gravy, and Stonecorn rolls with Elk cheese and White Lace Honeybee honey. And last but not least, a Cinnamon and Honeycrisp Apple pie. A heavy dinner said to put even Sentinels to sleep!
Trunk Cheese- not actually cheese, but a cold meat dish made of fresh Bullephant Trunk (or Mammophant, though it is not as tasty).  The meat of the trunk is removed and cooked in a mix of spices and Wild Onion, and then poured and set with gelatin in the skin of the trunk. Slices are cut from the trunk and served upon rye bread with strong Wild Mustard and pickled Gradish.
Edamame Soup and Pancakes- a popular yet odd combination of savory and sweet. This dish features a Chilled Edamame soup (heated of course, the chilled variety of plants grow better in the hot houses of Icefield) with large chunks of smokey Elk bacon, a sprinkle of thyme, and a dollop of Wild Mustard. The pancakes are made of nutty and mildly sweet Amaranth flour and served with Winter’s Delight jam. The soup is traditionally dished with a silver spoon, after a mighty Tundra king was poisoned by his favorite soup.
Warden’s Delight- a dessert, a snack, a spread upon rye bread, and a delight to every hatchie. It is a mix of Elk tallow, Spotted Seal or Wooly Walrus oil, fresh snow, and Winter’s Delight. As the mixture is whipped into fluffy peaks, it is traditional to sing “Warden’s Delight to fight off the night, no Shade or beast shall fill my sight. Drive away the hunger, drive away the cold, fill my belly and make me bold.”
Frozen Bouquet- flowers are rarity in the Southern Icefield, but this bouquet is made from flash-frozen flowers and fruits. After thawing they are quickly coated in a thin layer of crystalized maple syrup and then arranged into a bouquet. Often the bouquets have hidden meanings like Pretty Pink Mums for courting. Winterbelle for strength, and Wolfsbane for warning. But what every Tundra fears the most is a bouquet of Black Tulips.
Crisp Morning Cider- Vodka is life to Ice Flight, the warmth in one’s chest in a land where winter never ends. And while most drink it “neat”, when rations are low then cocktails are the answer!  This drink is a common morning warmer and is a mix of White Lace Honeybee honey with hot water, Vodka, Honeycrisp Apple cider, and Cinnamon.
Boreal Brew-a tea made from the leaves of whatever green tree is available. Birch, Fir, Spruce, and Pine can all be brewed into an astringent tea with a citrus-y aftertaste. Unfortunately, Birch, Fir, and Spruce are typically harvested during Spring-Summer- but Pine is harvested during December. To help remove the bitter taste, Pine can be fermented with sugar for a week to a month (fermentation time depending on temperature) and then filtered and served as cold tea.

🍷The Heir of Evil🐉 AU Reader Lore, Part Two: IceWings and Other Tribes Edition:
• IceWings in this AU aren't well known amongst the dragons, due to living in the Ice Kingdom, where it is cold all year round and is cold enough that other dragons could last maybe a day or two, as long as they are are not too far in their territory, but no longer than that...
• IceWings are regarded as strange and unnatural due to being the only tribe of the ten existing tribes to like the cold, need to be cold, and radiate coldness from their scales...
• IceWing blood is blue, but if their blood is rich with iron, it can be almost indigo in color. The lighter blue their blood, the more anemic and sickly they are...
• IceWings have slightly odd voices, high-pitched in some notes and low and soothing in others; their voices and tones seem to match the wintery environment they live in (when mad, their voice is thick and roaring like a blizzard, when sad their voice is like soft snowfall, when happy their voice is like twinkling icicles, when panicked their voice cracks like breaking glaciers-)
• IceWings wear different pendants and charms for good luck, health, love, and happiness. Circles represent and are supposed to draw in good health, a predator's teeth or claws or talons symbolize good luck, cute animals like seals or foxes or puffins or penguins are thought to bring happiness, twined branches or tails or antlers symbolize love, and three moonglobes represent the tribe's resilience and love and loyalty to their kingdom (there are more pendants and charms and symbols, but I'll explore those at a later date)
• It is traditional for an IceWing dragonet at age three (about 6 in human years), to have caught at least three pieces of prey, one from a circle of subsistence, one from the snowy tundra, and one from the ocean/coast...
• IceWings have festivals dedicated to the Great Ice Dragon, ones for arts and crafts and inventions, ones for ice carving, ones for poetry and literature, festivals for feasting, festivals for fasting, even festivals to honor the dead and to celebrate dragonets and families...
• IceWings drink frozen lemonade, berry slush drinks, iced coffee, and cold sweet tea. They have to use cups ands glasses and goblets carved from ice, made from metal, or a specialty type of porcelain or wood that won't shatter in the freezing climate of the Ice Kingdom...
• IceWings eat a variety of cold and raw dishes, such as: salmon and tuna carpaccio (thinly sliced meat), lightly sautéed reindeer, fish larb (fish salad), caribou and lobster surf and turf, sashimi, shrimp sushi, prawn cocktails, crab and lobster bisque, crab cakes, elk/oxen/hawk jerkey, whale fins served with whale and seal blubber, shark steaks, orca filets wrapped in seaweed, seal and moss salad, puffin served whole, stuffed hawks...
• Reader wears a pendant/pouch necklace, gifted to them at hatching by their late parent. No one saw Reader's hatching, save for their aforementioned late parent and an old "friend" of their's...
• Reader shines their scales at least five times a day, as they like to feel clean and to shine like a polished diamond. Part of it is because they have to look and act perfect at all times, so if they were dirty, it might reflect badly on them and their tribe...
• Reader donates any food the palace can't eat to the outer villages of their kingdom. This has earned them a reputation among the IceWings outside of the palace as a benevolent ruler, one who cares about them. Reader also goes to festivals thrown by those villages, and pays respect to each village elder and bard, as well as their monuments to the Great Ice Dragon and ice spirits...
• Reader doesn't remember much about their parent, and they don't know who their other parent/s were. Neither do the nobles, generals, or advisors who knew the royal family before they disappeared or died or were executed...
• Reader's army of pet foxes adore them, and Reader has more-or-less forbid eating any foxes that have a collar, as those are pets of either Reader or someone who was gifted a pet fox/kit...
• IceWing hybrids are sometimes looked down on outside of the IceWing tribe unless they (seemingly) hate the IceWings (or at least the royal family and nobility) and embrace their other tribe fully...
• A few of the platonic yans are IceWing hybrids or IceWing hybrid descendants (can you guess which ones?)
• Reader wears a few ceremonial pieces of IceWing jewelry, but prefer to wear anything that isn't too flashy or gaudy. They like colorful gems and charms, but prefer pastels or lighter shades; anything too bright or even (-IceWing gasp-) neon is politely refused (IceWings might be chromophobic? Afraid of too many different colors? It kinda makes sense, as the Ice Kingdom doesn't have a large variety of colors)
• Reader is the last surviving royal of the IceWing Royal Family; all their other relatives have either been executed, died of mysterious causes, or disappeared without a trace...
• Reader loves different foods from other tribes, but mainly avoids anything too spicy...
• Reader likes to wear silver, pale gold, or black metals, and likes shiny objects: teacups, earrings, glasses, stones, beads, bones, ice carvings, etc. ...
• Reader will meet their other parent/s eventually, but... a few defining moments happen before then...
•Reader adores teapots and teacups, and when they were little, always wanted to have a tea party, but never did. Even as an older dragonet, they still (deep, deep down) kinda want to have one...
And have some different teas and teacups, all of which 🍷Heir of Evil🐉 Reader would want:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Imagine that last one is their main pet fox sleeping in a large teacup😊🫖🍵☕)

Sushi Fish Market: The Intriguing Universe of Sea Urchin and Online Fish Shopping!
Tumblr media
Sushi, perhaps Japan's most adored culinary commodity, has caught the creative mind of food fans across the globe. With its beginnings established in old safeguarding strategies, sushi has developed into a work of art, with a new, excellent finish to its start fixing. Ocean Imp, a sought-after part of sushi eateries worldwide, is among the most valued of these rarities. Today, the conventional fish, the wealth of ocean imps available to be purchased, and the capacity to arrange fish give a helpful and vivid way for fish sweethearts to encounter the freshest fixings from the ocean.
The Core, all things considered, Sushi Fish Markets
Fish markets in Japan, especially the undeniably famous Sushi fish market (presently Sushi Market), are a fundamental objective for fish sweethearts. These clamoring markets act as the essential providers of fresh fish sushi eateries across Japan and then some. Sushi was the focal point of fish for quite a long time, during which the day-to-day collected overall consideration. It proceeds with this heritage, highlighting cutting edge offices and thorough taking care of conventions to guarantee that the fish is the best.
Sushi culinary specialists make daily outings to these conventional business sectors to hand-pick elements for their dishes. The nature of finfish, especially crude dishes like sushi and sashimi, is foremost, and it's why top cafés focus on obtaining from these conventional business sectors. Among the most valued gets is ocean imp, a delicacy with a nearly religious following.
Sea urchin for sale: The Sought after Delicacy
Sea urchin for sale in Japan is possibly one of the most valued fixings of sushi. Its rich, smooth surface and sensitive sea flavor make it a guilty pleasure for individuals who see the value in delicate fish. Sea urchin is regularly gathered from the rough seabeds of Japan, the Mediterranean, and portions of the Americas. The palatable piece of the ocean imp is its roe, which changes in variety from brilliant yellow to profound orange, contingent upon its eating regimen and where it is collected.
At the sushi fish markets, ocean imp is sold in painstakingly stuffed plates, with merchants offering various sizes, flavors, and beginning assortments. Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, is renowned for creating the absolute best ocean imps, valued for their pleasantness and lavish surface. Notwithstanding, ocean imp is likewise sensitive and exceptionally short-lived, making it a costly product. The nature of ocean imp can differ depending upon how things are taken care of post-gather, which is why newness is urgent.
Ordering Seafood Online: Newness Conveyed to Your Doorstep
With the ascent of online business, fish lovers never again need to go to Japan or beachfront urban areas to appreciate top-notch fish like ocean imp. Ordering seafood online frequently works straightforwardly with anglers and fish markets to guarantee that fish is gathered, bundled, and sent rapidly, limiting the time between sea and plate. A few organizations offer same-day or priority transport, utilizing progressed cold capacity innovations to keep up with ideal newness.
Requesting fish has benefits. Buyers can peruse a wide selection of items, look at costs, and read client surveys prior to making a buy. Furthermore, numerous internet-based retailers give itemized data about the obtaining, supportability, and treatment of the fish customers, inwardly expressing their harmony about the quality and moral contemplations of their buy.
Conclusion
The universe of sushi fish markets, ocean imp, and online fish shopping makes the sea's best indulgences accessible to everybody. With advancing advancements and supply chains, the future of appreciating top-notch fish is both promising and delectable. Also, online fish shopping through a well-known company KAI GOURMET offers accommodation and admittance to things that may not be promptly accessible in neighborhood markets, such as specialty fixings like ocean imp. For sushi fans, this implies having the option to reproduce café quality dishes at home without settling for less on newness or quality.

It's Blorbo Blursday! For this question, you might need a bit of context!
A few fast food chains, Mcdonald's most notably, have done celebrity meals (CardiB and Offset, BTS, Travis Scott, to name a few!) that consist of a chosen combination of their regular menu items and might also come with some sort of special dipping sauce or branding on the packaging.
So for today's question, I want to know, what would your OCs "celebrity meal" be?
Thank you for this Ask, @writernopal!
I'm terribly sorry for the late answer. I don't know if this is a proper answer, but since I don't know much about real menus of fast food restaurants, I will answer with an "In-Universe" version of a "Celebrity Menu" for my cast!
RAELEN - (Raelen is a complicated one to answer for. She doesn't have a very specific "favorite dish", and is not a very picky eater either. But, I would say that Raelen's food of choice - if she had to answer this - would be) :
(SAVORY) Any kind of pasty with roasted venison for filling, preferably as warm as possible (as in, fresh out of the oven).
(SWEET) Pure chocolate cake, or overall anything with chocolate, though chocolate and fresh berry pies are her all-time favorite.
(DRINK) Fruit teas. Occasionally, warm wine - it's the most easily accessible beverage in the kingdom she grew up in and since she hates ale, it's the next best thing to find in taverns while on the run.
VALLERIUS -
(SAVORY) Anything spicy and extremely well-seasoned. Spicy pasta dishes, with flaming hot sauce or any kind of hot pepper stew would certainly be his favorites.
(SWEET) Vallerius is not a huge fan of desserts, but he would never say no to a well-made breakfast cinnamon roll or a creamy lemon pie.
(DRINK) Voidberry Juice. Sounds menacing, looks dangerous, but actually tastes really good, once one gets past its initial tangy/acidic taste. (The stems and leaves of the plant are poisonous though, so one needs to be really careful before making juice from the berries. That's why he only drinks this juice if he made it himself.)
EMRYC -
(SAVORY) Roasted deep-sea Kraken or fried lobster claws. Sometimes those two things go together in one dish. He hasn't had something like that since he left the Storm Isles, though.
(SWEET) Caramel Fruit - as in, fruits covered by burnt caramel - or any kind of hard candy, as long as it isn't acidic.
(DRINK) Chocolate milk is his go-to drink of choice.
TANWIN -
(SAVORY) He is vegetarian, and meat makes him sick. His favorite dish would be pumpkin and spinach pie. He also likes soup but hates salad.
(SWEET) Frozen Blueberry cake, he also likes anything with vanilla and blueberries, preferably if it is in a cake.
(DRINK) Wild blackberry wine/juice.
ANSELL -
(SAVORY) Anything with roasted/baked partridge wings, or river fish cooked with pasta. He does not like spicy food but doesn't like bland food either - his taste in food sits right in between those two options.
(SWEET) Glazed cherry rolls, but being a huge dessert fan, he ends up eating any kind of sweet rolls available to him.
(DRINK) A warm, sweet, mildly alcoholic (includes wine), butter-infused drink that usually includes honey and nutmeg.
MORWAN -
(SAVORY) Well-done mutton leg, roasted over a fire, with a side dish of creamy rice with vegetable sticks to follow.
(SWEET) Anything large and bountiful, though her all-time favorite consists of a caramel cake with chocolate and cream filling.
(DRINK) Ale, preferably of the strongest sort.
BRYN -
(SAVORY) Crawfish sandwiches, but he also loves mountain ox stew with cheese.
(SWEET) Anything with strawberry. His favorites include (strawberry) cupcakes, muffins, and cakes.
(DRINK) Strawberry Milkshake
YUNA -
(SAVORY) Spicy goat and pork casserole with foraged vegetables.
(SWEET) Almond pancakes with any kind of syrup
(DRINK) Rum
ELLINOR -
(SAVORY) Anything grilled. She is particularly fond of grilled chicken or turkey, with a side dish of creamy pasta and vegetables.
(SWEET) Warm rolls or pies with a vanilla cream filling. She is also a huge fan of almond pudding with burnt caramel toppings.
(DRINK) Hot milk with burnt sugar and mint. She also likes sparkling wine.
JULYAN -
(SAVORY) Spicy chicken/turkey pies or pasties.
(SWEET) Cookies of any kind, though he prefers chocolate cookies over all the others.
(DRINK) Black tea, with a spoonful of either sugar syrup or cream
AZRA -
(SAVORY) All kinds of stews and warm soups. Azra likes venison and oxtail the best of all types, though when it comes to soup he prefers ones made with vegetables over meat.
(SWEET) Vanilla bread pudding or honeycombs
(DRINK) Warm wine, as well as any kind of hot chocolate
JAMIE -
(SAVORY) Mushroom pancakes and any kind of crepe with enough filling, preferably not spicy.
(SWEET) Dried fruit rolls with powdered cinnamon and sugar
(DRINK) Apple cider, or light wine
ZEPHYR -
(SAVORY) Fish sticks, or any kind of fish pasties
(SWEET) Jam-filled biscuits
(DRINK) Green tea, as well as any kind of juice. Hates alcoholic beverages.
NADINNE -
(SAVORY) Seafood casserole bowls, usually made with sea-monster meat, as well as roasted lobster claws or shrimp.
(SWEET) Vanilla and strawberry jam cheesecakes
(DRINK) Sweet bubbly/sparkling tea
LUCIYA -
(SAVORY) Vegetable sticks, as well as baked/cooked venison with creamy pasta (preferably with some kind of sauce on the side)
(SWEET) Fresh fruits
(DRINK) Cold Tea, Wine (the stronger the better), or just water
NYX -

Note
California resident, New England native, lover of lobster rolls here. Lobster rolls are fantastic IF they are made with fresh lobster meat. Frozen has a weird texture and flavor. I've tried many in California over the last 10+ years and have only had 1-2 that were decent. They tend not to be anywhere near as good as the ones in Massachusetts and Maine where the lobster was caught that day or within the last couple days. I'd do a lot of research on the place(s) you're curious to try to get an idea of whether their lobster rolls are well-regarded.
can totally see the frozen stuff being weird textured

Wellness Wednesday:
I Feel Unstoppable
Can't Stop - Won't Stop
I traveled, ate well, had a head cold situation, missed one workout all this week - and I'm still on top of this weight loss game.
The workouts have been good/easy but still get my heart pumping and create a good sweat.
My sleep schedule has reset - I feel rested for the first time in months.
Probably my favorite week of the year so far energy-wise.
Last week I stated I was going to reward myself - that has been postponed - still being mindful on honoring my progress.
