Nancy Drew Games: queer headcanons

I came across a list of potential LGBT+ characters in the games and I have to admit that I was a tiny bit disappointed that the only ace character listed was a villain.  So, here are some of my aro/ace (and other queer) headcanons.

Ryan – aroace (all you need is dragons)

Renate – aroace (all you need is cake)

Mel – aroace spectrum (like Wednesday Addams)

Lupe – aroace

Donal – aroace

Jeff – aroace

Nigel – aroace

Mason – ace.  But not aro.  The reason I think Mason is ace and planning to adopt is because he asks his dates what their gender preferences are for kids, and the only way you can choose which gender your kids are is if you adopt.  (More queer autistic rep in media would be awesome.)

Yumi – I could see her being queer in some way.  Her grandma thinks she’s going through a “phase” and will return to tradition.  I think I’m leaning towards her being biromantic ace.  (Also childfree, no adoption either.  So no kids to pass on the tradition to of running the ryokan.)  Article I came across.

Harper – lesbian ace

Ingrid – lesbian

Joy – possibly also lesbian

Jenna and Katie – bitter exes?

Minette – bi

Frosty and Chase – I could maybe see them having an opposites attract thing going on. 

Chase: “He’s the outgoing sophisticated type, and I’m just a simple country boy.”

And they’re already sharing an MP3 player. 

(I’d say Frosty would be bi since he seemed to like Lori Girard.)

I wasn’t sure whether to add this one about John.

John – romance-repulsed aroace.  Some men scoff at “girl things” like romance novels, but what if there’s a different reason for his distaste in Charleena’s work?  I don’t particularly get aroace vibes from him, but him being aroace and romance-repulsed sounds better than him not taking Charleena seriously just because she writes “girl books.”  (Or maybe he could be gay and feels alienated from heteronormative fiction?)

With his own close encounter knowledge of the Oklahoma weather, which leads him to be very serious when it comes to storm safety. One wonders how close is too close? Would he stoop to sabotage to keep others from the storm's path? Or maybe to keep them coming back to his store?

'Leader' of the Canute Storm Chasers and professor at the university, intuitive about storms, but not when it comes to working as a team player, unwilling to take responsibility, is he hiding his own faults? Or diverting attention away by playing the heartless boss?

Luke Grimes as Chase Releford

Meteorology undergrad student, spending his first season out in the field. A great mechanic, capable and knowledgeable of the workings of the cars and computers. Is it possible he's not as good as he thinks? are the workings of this case far more intricate than a machine, that possibly he's trying to oil over. Or with the perfect cover to stay behind while the others chase the storms, is he chasing something else?

One of the topics Frosty brings up as you drive around together is Nacreous Clouds and how he wants to photograph them someday. I briefly searched them and they seem pretty cool! They remind me of those rainbow oil slicks, but in the sky. Frosty had one good idea in this game and it’s easy dialogue to miss, but I’d be interested in seeing nacreous clouds in person, too.

"i'm olivia, his..." she paused realizing she wasn't sure what to refer to herself as but figured it might not hurt, "girlfriend." she decided to extend her hand out if she wanted to shake, "i um, actually wanted to talk to you about something."
