What lovely, wallpapered stair risers – with the stairs functioning as shoe storage! THe shoes almost match the wallpaper, too. Such a fabulous idea to add color to your small front hall. From the home of Saara and Ville; photos by Pablo Latorre at Kotivinkki. (NB. Finnish only.)

Letters on walls ...
I wanted something on the front hall wall to welcome guests in a unique way. I fell in love with the letters on the wall of this studio and wanted to create a similar arrangement for my space. I like the way the letters are not only different sizes, colors and shapes, but are also different depths.
My wall isn't large enough to hold the entire alphabet, so I needed to decide what was going on the wall. I knew I did not want it to be a literal presentation. I wasn't looking for a saying or a collection of words for the wall.
I decided since it was my front hall wall it should be representative of my family in some way. I ended up with a somewhat scrambled version of our last name as well as the first initials of each of our family members.
Because I was looking for different types and sizes of letters and I really did not want any 2 to be the same, I searched for months and months to find what I needed. Admittedly, I still keep my eye open just in case I come across a letter that might work better than what I already have. Every one who comes to the house loves the novelty of the letters on the wall.

page 132, 22 and 26 - I'm only sort of an architect, but here is a rendering of the temple's interior. Just a kind of mezzanine without any economically mystic significance.
The guys are in there to add scale and party to the picture.

Hey! I decided to start showing Retro Delightfully... This is the initial view of the room from the front hall.
Really liked the red, black and white colors, along with the fun watermelons rug.
